El rico patrimonio histórico-artístico de Extremadura (España) conforma un interesante destino para el turismo, la investigación y el conocimiento. Una parte ya ha sido estudiado, pero de Trujillo no se conocía su legado, construido entre los siglos XIII al XIX: el Caserío de Pascualete, Matilla de los Almendros, El Carrascal, Palacio Viejo, Casa de Casco, Palacio de Doña Catalina o Magasquilla de los Álamos, entre otros, nos hablan de una riqueza maravillosa. En este libro podrán encontrar un análisis amplio de Trujillo desde la perspectiva de la conexión de la ciudad con su territorio a lo largo de la historia y un catálogo pormenorizado de los más importantes palacios, casas fuertes y de campo que aún se conservan en su paisaje rural.

The article substantiates the importance of documentation as a primary and vital component in the process of systematizing experiences. The practice implemented in “Narrar mi Ciudad” (“Narrate my City”) is taken as an example: an audiovisual literacy project for heritage rediscovery that we developed with adolescents from Extremadura. The planning and recovery of all the written and audiovisual sources obtained during the project form the basis for reconstructing, understanding and learning from the processes experienced. From a qualitative perspective, bibliographic-documentary research, participant observation and synthesis analysis articulate the methodological strategy followed to arrive at the results. The conclusions reaffirm the importance of documentation as an essential process of systematization of experiences that must be carried out in a constant and planned manner. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

This article analyzes the General Production Conditions (GPC) and their role in the feasibility of installing the Export Processing Zone (EPZ) of Cáceres, in the state Mato Grosso, Brazil. Documentary survey on official websites and bibliographical research on the subject were carried out. It was found that the EPZ emerge as a locational strategy in view of the role of the General Production Conditions (GPC) and are used as an instrument of industrial economic policy. Furthermore, the GPC reappear as discursive material and symbolic support for the regional elites, nongovernmental entities, public managers linked to the three scales of public administration (municipal, state, and federal) and parliamentarians (council members, deputies and, senators). Thus, a developmentalist political and ideological practice has been built through the implementation of the EPZ in Cáceres, Mato Grosso. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

O artigo apresenta resultados de pesquisa desenvolvida com narrativas de professores de História e estudantes do Ensino Médio de escolas públicas estaduais da cidade de Cáceres acerca do ensino de história regional e local. Dedicamos especial atenção à análise da abordagem da História Regional e Local a partir dos estudantes de duas escolas, identificadas como Escola A e Escola B, sem hierarquizar as unidades escolares e seus sujeitos. A pesquisa empírica foi desenvolvida entre março e novembro de 2017 a partir de questionários com questões abertas e fechadas sobre o que os sujeitos conheciam sobre a história de Cáceres e Mato Grosso. Podemos destacar nas análises das narrativas que as formas institucionais e culturais da História de Mato Grosso e de Cáceres privilegiam acontecimentos históricos ancorados no discurso econômico tomando como referência a região Sudeste do Brasil.

The COVID-19 pandemic has changed the consumption habits of tourists to benefit sustainable destinations that are not overcrowded, such as rural tourism destinations. However, the periods of compulsory lockdown have had devastating effects on tourism businesses operating in rural areas and have even jeopardised their economic viability. The aim of this article is to quantify in relative terms the effects that the period of compulsory lockdown in a markedly tourist country, such as Spain, between March and May 2020 has had on rural accommodation in one of the most rural provinces of Spain (Cáceres). Based on a random sample of 225 rural accommodation establishments and the consideration of various factors, statistical techniques of comparison of means and proportions were used to detect differences in the intensity of the effects of the compulsory lockdown on the economic-financial management, bookings, facilities, and input of rural accommodation establishments in the province. The results obtained show that the economic, labour, and management effects of the COVID-19 pandemic on rural tourism businesses in the province of Cáceres have been very substantial. In particular, the businesses with the highest level of tourist services on supply, i.e., those that, in addition to accommodation, also offer other tourist activities, have been the most affected. In view of this situation, urgent emergency measures have been put in place at a provincial level to alleviate the economic loss and the destruction of jobs caused by this pandemic. Centro de Interpretación Escuelas Viajeras de Navas del Madroño (Cáceres, España): testimonio de las Misiones Pedagógicas

Although the presence of phosphate in Cáceres (Spain) was known from the eighteenth century, it was not until the mid-nineteenth century, with the discovery of single superphosphate, that Extremadura became one of the principal exporting centres of phosphate in Europe. However, at the end of the century, new phosphate deposits began to be exploited in the United States and Africa, which relegated the phosphate from Cáceres to a secondary position. In this study, we analyse phosphate mining in Spain, examining the characteristics of its deposits and the evolution of the mining operations. Furthermore, we highlight the paradox that, despite having phosphate deposits, in the twentieth century Spain was a net importer of phosphate rock. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

De entre los muchos elementos arquitectónicos dispersos por el término municipal de Cáceres (ciudad histórica incluida en el Patrimonio Mundial de la UNESCO) hay uno en estado de ruina, conocido como “ermita de San Jorge”, que en el estado actual del conocimiento algunos autores consideran un edificio religioso por el hecho de tener una estructura de nave diáfana y una serie de pinturas con motivos religiosos. La investigación resumida en este artículo: 1. Se ha realizado con metodología arquitectónica, recabando los datos conocidos y realizando un levantamiento arquitectónico de la estructura del edificio, no sólo de la geometría de los restos, sino del sistema estructural, así como del análisis del emplazamiento. 2. Demuestra que la estructura resistente de los restos constructivos corresponde en realidad a un edificio de almacén de agua (aljibe), emplazado en un camino histórico de la red caminera de Cáceres y en las inmediaciones de la torre medieval de Los Mogollones.

Entre 1935 y 1938-1939 la Compañía Telefónica Española construyó una central en Cáceres para instalar los equipos de la nueva red automática de telefonía. Fue diseñada por Paulino Justo Gayo Marín, arquitecto que tuvo gran protagonismo en el desarrollo de este tipo de arquitectura en España. Las centrales telefónicas fueron edificios diseñados con una doble intención: incorporar modernos sistemas de comunicación y proyec-tar edificios con una estética «propagandística», cuya finalidad era atraer a inversores y accionistas. Este ar-tículo trata de explicar tras un pequeño recorrido histórico y arquitectónico, la creación y las ideas constructi-vas de la compañía española, para conocer el valor que tiene la obra de Cáceres en el desarrollo urbano de la ciudad.

Uno de los proyectistas de edificios de ocio más importante por el número y el carácter de los inmuebles construidos en la provincia de Cáceres durante el pasado siglo XX fue el aparejador Fernando Perianes. En sus intervenciones, integra los cinematógrafos que diseña, normalmente sobre espacios preexistentes, con el urbanismo y la identidad del lugar en el que se ubican, además de aportar modernidad a las poblaciones mediante construcciones que permiten la evolución de la arquitectura rural sin provocar estridencias en el entorno. Se analiza una docena larga de salas de proyecciones a partir de fuentes fotográficas y documentales, como herramientas didácticas y de generación de storytelling sobre la memoria popular toda vez que el uso pensado como cines ha desaparecido. Abstract One of the designers of buildings of leisure architecture more important by the number and the character of the buildings constructed in the Caceres province (Spain) during the 20th century was the engineer Fernando Perianes. In his interventions, he integrates the movie theaters he designs, usually on pre-existing spaces, with the urbanism and the identity of the place where they are located, as well as bringing modernity to the populations through constructions that allow the evolution of rural architecture without discordant effects in the citizen environment. Over than a dozen of movie-theaters by Perianes are analysed from photographic and documentary sources, such as didactic and storytelling tools on popular memory, since the use of the cinemas has disappeared.

Thanks to the use of non-invasive techniques and remote sensing in a 19th century building, it was possible to demonstrate that said building is a lost part of the Cáceres wall. This wall was believed to maintain the straight line from a known section, but remote sensing makes it clear that at that point the wall makes a break creating a door of which there was no record. Once this premise was confirmed, an ideal reconstruction hypothesis was developed. For this, the work base was taken on the data collected in an exhaustive data collection process, which launched millions of control points and facilitated in theorizing the original state of this lost section. The HBIM methodology greatly facilitated the process, and will allow for possible modifications with an IFC file as advances are made in that area. Finally, the research proposes an architectural project path that takes into account the data obtained remotely, and that achieves the inclusion of this part of the city in cultural interest and, of course, in a protected and cataloged area. This work talks about the evolution of the tourism offer in the city of Cáceres in the period between 2010 and 2019. The point of departure for this is the hypothesis that it has concentrated on the figure of tourist apartments, with the consequent effects on the rehabilitation of housing and refunctionalization of the area within the historic centre. The results obtained corroborate the initial hypothesis, confirming how the figure of tourist apartments has grown exponentially in recent years, while the rest of accommodation has even decreased. In addition, it has been confirmed that the increase in apartments has had a series of positive effects and generated a strong controversy among residents in the area under study. A presente pesquisa tem por objetivo analisar, à luz dos conceitos de região funcional e polarizada, as interações transfronteiriças entre as cidades de Cáceres – polo regional do Estado de Mato Grosso – e San Matías, na Bolívia, e como ocorrem as atuais ações governamentais no que se refere à segurança nacional e fitossanitária, à questão econômica e aos relacionamentos de aproximação, troca e de permeabilidade, que possibilitam a interação destes povos. Os procedimentos metodológicos utilizados partiram de revisões bibliográficas sobre as leis, projetos e programas bolivianos e brasileiros específicos visando o desenvolvimento da Faixa de Fronteira; sobre a discussão acadêmica a respeito da denominação e classificação de “cidades-gêmeas” e suas derivações; e também sobre a criação do Comitê de Integração Bilateral Cáceres/San Matías, que passaram a ser cidades-irmãs. Empiricamente, discutiu-se sobre as relações comerciais e de educação sanitária entre cacerenses e san-matianos, além de aplicar questionário semi-estruturado com o representante governamental de San Matías. A pesquisa mostrou que após a assinatura do Acordo de Integração tem havido mais ações conjuntas no combate ao tráfico de drogas, roubo de veículos e nas atividades zoofitossanatárias. Destaca-se ainda a maior integração cultural e os atendimentos a bolivianos nos hospitais de Cáceres.

In the northwest of Cáceres there is a Romance variety with controverted affiliation. The recent book of Costas (2013) gathers several works that defend a Galician origin, explained by medieval processes of repopulation. One section contains a selection of words that have acquired a meaning in that variety; this list could be used as an evidence of the special character of this language with respect to its neighbours and to point out its distance from Portuguese. Nevertheless, this paper proposes a contrastive analysis between those words and Castilian and Portuguese dialectal materials that reveals that the situation is far from Costas’ description. In fact, almost half of the meanings that were presented as specificities of the fala are well documented in dialectal Portuguese. This paper aims to claim the need to consider dialectal materials produced close to the Valley of the Ellas, since they are essential to reach rigorous conclusions about the origin of the fala.

Resumen: El trabajo que se presenta es una investigación de corte cualitativo a través del análisis de la Educación Primaria en Torrejoncillo (Cáceres) desde una perspectiva históricoeducativa. Para que se pueda comprender la historia educativa contemporánea, es muy importante conocer su pasado. Igualmente, la comunidad científica se inclina por recuperar la historia educativa local y regional, con el único propósito de saber más acerca del conocimiento histórico-educativo más cercano. El objetivo de este trabajo es conocer el pasado educativo de este pueblo cacereño, haciendo un recorrido en el tiempo desde mediados del siglo XX, concretamente a partir de 1945, cuando la escuela estaba dividida en varias unidades repartidas por Torrejoncillo y donde las condiciones no eran las más favorables, hasta llegar a nuestros días. Abstract: The work presented is a qualitative research through analysis of primary education in Torrejoncillo (Cáceres) from a historical and educational perspective. To be able to understand contemporary educational history, it is very important to know your past. Similarly, the scientific community is inclined to retrieve local and regional educational history, with the sole purpose of knowing more about the closest historical-educational knowledge. The aim of this study was to determine the educational background of the people Caceres, making a journey through time from the mid-twentieth century, particularly after 1945, when the school was divided into several units distributed in Torrejoncillo and where conditions were not the most favorable, until our days.

Los centros escolares forman parte del patrimonio histórico-educativo, además de constituir un testimonio muy importante de la historia de la educación y de la historia social y cultural. Los primeros institutos, reconocidos como Institutos Históricos, son testigos privilegiados. En el caso de Cáceres, el legado más importante es el edificio que albergó al Instituto de Segunda Enseñanza. En este trabajo se enumeran y documentan las mejoras que en él se llevaron a cabo tanto para adaptarse a los nuevos planes de estudios y corrientes pedagógicas, como para la conservación del edificio, en las fechas comprendidas entre 1900 y 1936.

Gastronomy is emerging as one of the key elements for the development and promotion of tourist destinations, also having a positive influence both on increasing overnight stays as in the enhancement of primary sector of a certain geographic area. The methodology used to carry out this research study was based on the realization of a fieldwork with the objective of getting to know the tourist profile visiting the city of Cáceres, Spain and its feedback and motivations regarding gastronomy. The results of this research show the important relationship between culture and gastronomy and point out how cultural destinations can enhance visitor satisfaction through the promotion of its cuisine. The findings of this research point to the importance of gastronomy in the satisfaction of tourists visiting the city of Cáceres. Thus an enhancement of the same would, consequently, determine higher tourist satisfaction. This paper can contribute to the analysis of gastronomic tourism in Europe, contributing as a key element, in addition to the high level of response from tourists, the fact that surveys have been conducted at the restaurants themselves when the traveler was having lunch or dinner.

El texto describe y analiza el puente construido sobre el río Tajo por Gustave Eiffel en las cercanías de Cáceres, una de las obras más relevantes de la primera etapa del célebre ingeniero francés, y la mayor de las mismas construida en España. A partir de los planos hallados en diversos archivos, y de otras fuentes históricas, se analiza la obra y el proceso seguido para llevarla a cabo, y se repasa la importancia que tuvo tras su finalización. Al final del escrito, las conclusiones subrayan los puntos destacados del mismo y proponen distintas cuestiones relacionadas con las obras públicas históricas.

Según la Sociedad Española de Alergología e Inmunología Clínica (SEAIC), las enfermedades alérgicas afectan a un 30% de la población española. La alergia ocupa la sexta posición dentro de las diez enfermedades o problemas de salud que la población de 15 años o más refiere padecer con mayor frecuencia (13,37%), según la Encuesta Europea de Salud en España (EESE) 2014, realizada por el Instituto Nacional de Estadística (INE).Desde la primera inoculación subcutánea por Leonard Noon en el año 1911 de un extracto de Phleum pratense a pacientes polínicos, se han publicado múltiples estudios controlados que demuestran que la inmunoterapia alérgeno específica es el único tratamiento capaz de modificar el curso natural de la enfermedad alérgica, reduciendo significativamente la severidad de la enfermedad y el consumo de medicación, así como mejorar considerablemente la calidad de vida. En el presente estudio se han recogido datos de 46 pacientes mayores de 14 años que reciben inmunoterapia, con pauta rush, en una consulta de alergia privada de la ciudad de Cáceres para conocer cuál es el alérgeno frente al que más se vacunaban y su seguridad, obteniendo un mayor porcentaje en “Mezcla de gramíneas 100%”, que representa un 47,83% de los estudiados, seguida de “Mezcla gramíneas 50% Olea europaea 50%” con un 28,26% y se demuestra que la inmunoterapia subcutánea es un método seguro y adecuado para el tratamiento de la alergia.

Presentamos un ejemplo inédito de la arquitectura del siglo XIX, el proyecto de mercado para Cáceres de Adulfo del Castillo (1884), una muestra atractiva por su volumen y presupuesto. Interesan sus alzados y plantas, avanzados por ser un modelo mixto de arqui- tectura del hierro y de otros materiales, pero también que se contrate desde Extremadura a un arquitecto andaluz para realizar el proyecto, cuando había dos arquitectos titulados en Cáceres. Se analiza primero el desarrollo de los mercados metálicos en España, haciendo especial hincapié en Extremadura, y después el impacto urbanístico que esta medida suponía para la ciudad, pues incluía demoliciones para regularizar una de las plazas más tradicionales de la localidad, la Corredera de San Juan. El mercado no se realizó, pero sí las demoliciones.

The dynamics generated by the cities exceed their own borders, transferring part of their urban growth to their area of influence. Small-scale cities, such as Cáceres, project a shadow that significantly affects their immediate rural environment. The dispersion and multiplication of dwellings in the undeveloped land of small rural municipalities compromises the sustainability of the settlement system. The objective of this study is to characterize in a theoretical way the particularities that a general phenomenon like the rurbanization has in this context, and to measure the influence that has the presence of a city in the changes experienced in the rural environment. For this, the analysis must also quantify and locate the isolated and dispersed buildings in the countryside. The cataloging is complemented with a study of the legislation and the urban planning, as well as a temporary audit of the problem. The combination of all variables (legal, environmental, demographic, etc.), including spatial, is done with the Geographic Information Systems' help. In this way, it is discovered that most of this urban growth, besides being transferred, is irregular, uncontrolled and is located outside the urban and developable land of rural municipalities.
