The article presents the proceedings of the Twenty-Second Annual Conference of American Association for Public Opinion Research (AAPOR) that was held on May 18-21, 1967 at Bolton Landing, New York. The conference was divided into fifteen formal sessions and three round tables. The new format also consists a presentation program of the best papers from a recent AAPOR competition for graduate students. In addition to the informative meetings, numerous social events were also organized. This section presents the minutes of the Meeting of the American Economic Association Executive Committee held in New York City on March 24, 1972. The first meeting of the 1972 Executive Committee was called to order at 9:40 a. m. in the New York Hilton Hotel, New York, New York, March 24, 1972. The minutes of the meeting of December 26, 1971, were approved. The Secretary reported that a strong committee under the leadership of R. M. Macintosh was in charge of local arrangements for the 1972 meetings in Toronto, Ontario. He reported that the highly successful series of readings and survey volumes published for the Association by Richard D. Irwin, Inc., was being phased out. The Treasurer submitted a revised budget for 1972. He also distributed copies of the financial statements and auditors' reports for 1971 and 1972, which are being published in the May 1972 issue of the American Economic Review. The editor announced that, under authority given at the previous meeting of the Executive Committee, Anna Schwartz had been appointed to the Board of Editors for a three-year term and Barbara Bergmann reappointed for a term of two years. Leona Baumgartner told attendees the impact of public health on her family had been terrific. She illustrated that its impact on all families was equally terrific, ranging from powder puffs to salad greens.

This article introduces a series of papers on personnel evaluation presented during an Association of Departments and Administrators in Speech Communication (ADASC) program at the Speech Communication Association National Convention on November 10, 1973 in New York City. A National Task Force on Personnel Evaluation was appointed to present the program at the convention. According to the author, the course is designed for people who have experienced in chemical marketing research for less than three years. The article studies the rate of membership participation in centralized union focusing on District 65 of the Retail, Wholesale and Department Store Union in New York City. It shows that membership participation may even make it easier for leadership to exercise initiative and control. It also indicates that the collective bargaining and organizing environment of the labor union and the membership and employer characteristics arising from it strongly influence the relationship between participation and control. The correlates of participation include membership homogeneity, high social status and educational level and the meeting's function as an informal job market. The level of participation during meeting, voting in union elections and dues payment is high. Lastly, centralization makes it more harder to involve members in union affairs.

The publisher, Julius Springer, has issued a comprehensive catalogue of the publications of that house dealing with economic subjects. The British Library of Political and Economic Science has recently purchased a collection of many hundreds of letters, documents and manual scripts written by or to John Stuart Mill and Miss Helen Taylor, his step-daughter.

This article presents proceedings of the 55th annual meeting of the American Sociological Association held at the Statler Hilton Hotel, New York City from August 28-31, 1960. The first meeting of the 1960 Council was called to order on August 28, 1960 by Vice-President Wilbert Moore. Members of the 1960 Council present in the meeting included Reirihard Bendix, John Clausen, W. Fred Cottrell, Robert Faris, William Goode, George Homans, Rex Hopper, Seymour Lipset, Charles Loomis, Walter Martin, Robert Merton, Wilbert Moore, Charles Page, and John Riley. Three resolutions pertaining to various aspects of the certification problem were received from the Ohio Valley Sociological Society and it was voted that these matters be studied by an ad hoc committee consisting of Talcott Parsons, Robert Merton and Guy Swanson and their findings reported to the first meeting of the 1961 Council. Regarding the site for 1963 meetings, the Council reaffirmed the earlier decision to meet on the West Coast with the detailed arrangements as to place and facilities being left in the hands of the president-elect for that meeting, the Secretary and the Executive Officer.

The article focuses on the Association for Help of Retarded Children (A.H.R.C.)Sheltered Workshop in New York City. The sheltered workshop attends young men and women over 17 years of age whose particular disability is mental retardation. The average intelligence levels for the entire population who attended the said workshop is 57.4 which remained passably constant from year to year workshop. The trainees of the said workshop is referred by two main sources including the State Division of Vocational Rehabilitation which recommend up to 20 trainees and A.H.R.C. which recommend 45 long-term trainees. The sheltered workshop major dimension for classification systems is logical to vocational rehabilitation.

It presents for consideration several propositions: that science teachers' associations undertake the task of coordinating the science clubs in their respective localities, along the lines developed by the American Institute in New York City; that teachers' colleges devote more attention to the development of sponsors for science clubs; that a cooperative movement be initiated for developing a library of bulletins on science club techniques; that a science publication be developed for pupil members of science clubs; that adequate representation be given to the point of view of the club sponsor and the curricular needs which club work must serve.

The Section on Methodology held its first business and council meetings at the time of the American Sociological Association meetings in New York City last August. At the annual meeting last year in New York the Section sponsored a panel discussion and two other sessions. Three sessions have been planned for the coming annual meeting. The Publications Committee was requested to obtain additional information on the cost of publishing a journal on methodology. Criteria for membership in the Section were discussed at the annual meeting and it was decided that any voting member of the Association who pays Section dues shall be admitted to the Section. There was also discussion of the function of the Section and some question as to its constitutionality. The present officer of the section are Daniel O. Price, Chairman, Robert F. Mcginnis, Secretary-Treasurer. The committees that have been appointed for the year 1960-61 were Program Committee, headed by Robert McGinnis; Nominating Committee, headed by Leslie Kish; and Publications Committee, headed by William S. Robinson.
