The article discusses the 1934 German Nanga Parbat Expedition, which aimed to climb the 26,660-foot Nanga Parbat mountain in Pakistan. The expedition was well-prepared and well-funded, with advanced technology and equipment. However, tragedy struck when climber Alfred Drexel fell ill and died, and a snowstorm and powerful storm prevented the team from reaching the summit, resulting in the deaths of six porters and three climbers, including the expedition leader. The expedition was ahead of its time in terms of high-altitude physiology and meteorology, and the first successful summit of Nanga Parbat was achieved in 1953. [Extracted from the article]
