With the popularization of smart mobile devices,a new generation of mobile applications such as face recognition and virtual reality have gradually emerged.The limited computing power and battery capacity of mobile devices cannot support applications with high computing requirements and latency-sensitive applications.Therefore,mobile edge computing(MEC) is proposed to solve this problem.However,in the MEC environment,the reliability of the edge server is low,and the possible equipment failure will lead to the existing offloading decision failure,which increases the application response time and reduces the user experience.In view of the possible failure of edge servers,and considering that the deep deterministic policy gradient(DDPG) algorithm can better deal with the problem of high-dimensional action space through the network fitting strategy function,this paper proposes a server-reliability task offloading based on deep deterministic policy gradient(SRTO-DDPG).The main work is as follows.Firstly,the failure rate of application execution is reduced by duplicating subtasks for secondary offload.Secondly,the task offloading and resource allocation problems with server reliability constraints to minimize application delay are modeled as Markov decision process(MDP).Finally,an algorithm based on DDPG is used to solve the problem.Simulation results show that the SRTO-DDPG strategy can effectively interact with the environment to obtain the optimal offloading decision,and its perfor-mance is better than the local execution strategy(LE).Compared with the single location task offloading based on deep determi-nistic policy gradient(SLTO-DDPG),this strategy can achieve a low total delay of about 26.16% under reliability constraints,and can better adapt to the reliability problems of edge servers in multi-server scenarios.

Outlier detection has been widely used in many fields,such as network intrusion detection,credit card fraud detection,etc.The increase in data dimensions leads to many irrelevant and redundant features,which will obscure the relevant features and result in false positive results.Due to the sparseness and distance aggregation effects of high-dimensional data,the traditional outlier detection algorithms based on density and distance are no longer applicable.Most of the outlier detection research based on machine learning focuses on a single model,which has certain deficiencies in anti-overfitting ability.The ensemble learning model has good generalization ability,and in actual application shows better prediction accuracy than the single model.This paper proposes an outlier detection sequence integration method LCSE based on neighborhood consistency (locality and consistency based sequential ensemble method for outlier detection).Firstly,it constructs a basic model of outlier detection based on diversity,secondly,selects the abnormal candidate points according to the global integration consistency,and finally considers the local neighborhood correlation of the data to select and combine the basic model results.Experiments verify that LCSE has an average outlier detection accuracy increase of 20.7% compared with traditional methods.Compared with the ensemble methods LSCP_AOM and iForest,the performance is increased by 3.6% on average.Therefore,it is better than other ensemble methods and neural network methods.

Common prosperity is both"common prosperity for all the people"and"prosperity for both the material and spiritual lives of the people". Based on the 2015 Chinese General Social Survey Data, this paper systematically investigates the effects of opportunity equity and outcome equity on happiness using propensity score matching and the causal forest algorithm. The results show that both opportunity equity and outcome equity have a positive effect on happiness; female identity and university education can strengthen the happiness-enhancing effect of opportunity equity, and urban household registration can strengthen the happiness-enhancing effect of outcome equity; the happiness-enhancing effect of outcome equity is most obvious among the group with immediate housing needs, and there is a significant shift around the age of thirty. Therefore, it is suggested that to achieve common prosperity, we should accelerate the construction of opportunity equity mechanism and steadily promote the development of outcome equity. By using electrospinning technology, phosphatidylcholine with different mass concentrations was added to polylactic acid and polyglycolic acid for blending spinning, thereby investigating the feasibility of preparing an anti-adhesion membrane for the peritoneal cavity. The fiber morphology, surface composition, mechanical properties, hydrophilic and hydrophobic properties, degradation properties, and anti-cell adhesion properties of the composite film were characterized by field emission scanning electron microscope, infrared spectrum, strength meter, contact angle meter, and cell experiments. The results show that phosphatidylcholine is successfully loaded into the fiber membrane, and the fiber membrane with phosphatidylcholine has good hydrophilicity and appropriate mechanical properties, and can maintain structural integrity after degradation for 28 days, and has good adhesion resistance to L-929 fibroblasts. Objective To analyze the clinical phenotype and genetic characteristics of short-chain acyl-coenzyme A dehydrogenase deficiency (SCADD). Methods and Results The proband was one month and 14 days old girl, who presented mental and motor retardation, hypotonia and epileptic seizures (convulsive seizures and generalized tonic seizures). Physical examination showed café-au-lait-spot on her left face and left upper abdomen. Ethylmalonic acid and methylsuccinic acid in urine and butyryl carnitine in whole blood were elevated. Inter-ictal discharges in video electroencephalogram (VEEG) showed burst- suppression wave. Cranial MRI demonstrated multiple cortical malformations in the left cerebral hemisphere and right frontal lobe. Genetic test showed the patient had c.795 + 1G > A homozygous mutation of ACADS gene inherited from asymptomatic parents who carried heterozygous mutations in the same locus. The patient was clearly diagnosed as SCADD, and her family was diagnosed as SCADD pedigree. The patient was treated by prednisone [4 mg/(kg⋅d)] and levetiracetam [30 mg/(kg⋅d)], and then oral vitamin B2 [10 mg/(kg⋅d)] was added. No seizures recurred as yet. Conclusions Clinical manifestations of SCADD include mental and motor retardation, hypotonia, early-onset epileptic encephalopathy, elevated ethylmalonic acid, methylsuccinic acid in urine and butyryl carnitine in whole blood, and it might result in cortical malformations. A karyological study has been caried out on six populations of Aconitum brachypodum across its distribution region (Dongchuan,Huize,Lijiang,Ninglang, Yanyuan and Muli). Al populations of the A. brachypodum studied were diploid (2n=2x=16) with various chromosome morphologies A. brachypodum has relatively consistent chromosome diversification with a basic number of 8. Only the karyotype formulas of Ninglang and Yanyuan populations were same. The kartotype of Muli population belonged to Stebbins' 1A type,the kartotype of Lijiang, Ninglang, Yanyuan populations belonged to Stebbins' 2B type,and the kartotype of Huize,Dongchuan populations belonged to Stebbins' 3B type. Six populations in A. brachypodum had different karyotype and they al belonged to comparatively asymmetric type. The karyotype formula of A. pendulum is 2n=16=8m+8sm, and the karyotype formula of A. brachypodum var. laxiflorum is 2n=16=10m+6sm. The variation of the karyotype formula, As.K.% and AI did not show clear and corespondingly geographical distribution. Objectives It aims to understand the career choices of nursing students with different academic levels to rural areas and their influential factors in Yunnan Province. Methods A questionnaire survey was conducted to investigate nursing students of 2 medical universities, 2 medical colleges and 2 medical secondary schools in Yunnan Province. Results Only 39.23% nursing students were willing to choose working in rural areas. Those who were unwilling to work in rural areas usually had high salary expectations,felt able to work in the city, had no experience of clinical practice, cared about hospital's size and working environment. The influencing factors included having a pessimistic employment attitude, lacking of understanding work in rural areas,and having a father poor educational background. Conclusion Nursing students who are willing to work in rural area are in the minority, and the influencing factors are various. It is necessary to strength students' employment guidance, help them understand the employment situation,develop correct outlook on life and employment, and supply early clinical practice to the students. The paper systematically reviews the "gaze" theory in tourism studies both at home and abroad, which has been mainly focused on "tourist gaze". The paper suggests that "tourism gaze" is an interactive and complicated concept with the participation of multi-stakeholders, rather than one-way gaze from tourists. "Tourism gaze" should also include "gaze from local people", "gaze from experts" "gaze between tourists" and "hidden gaze" and "mutual gaze" among stakeholders due to power gaps and changes. "Tourism gaze" tries to inspect the whole society from the perspective of tourism, which is of positive theoretical and practical significance. Objective To construct the recombinant vectors that express mouse Dishevelled 2(Dvl2), and to evaluate its expression level in transfected RAW264.7 cells. Methods A pair of specific primers were designed according to the mouse Dvl2 cDNA sequence published in GenBank. Total RNA of RAW264.7 cells was extracted, and open reading frame of Dvl2 was obtained by RT-PCR, which was then cloned into pEZ-M29 plasmid. Electrophoresis after macrorestriction and DNA sequence analysis were used to identify the reconstructed plasmids. After transient transfection vialiposome, the transfection of RAW264.7 cells was confirmed under a fluorescence microscope, and the expression level of Dvl2 was evaluated by real-time RT-PCR Results The recombinant plasmid containing mouse Dvl2, namely pEZ-M29/ Dvl2, was successfully constructed, and confirmed by DNA sequence analysis. After 48 h of tranfection, the expression of enhanced green fluorescene protein was observed under a fluorescence microscope, and real-time RT-PCR analysis revealed that the Dvl2 mRNA level was prominantly elevated in the transient transfected RAW264.7 cells. Conclusion The recombinant plasmids pEZ-M29/Dvl2 are successfully constructed and can elevate the Dvl2 mRNA level in the transient transfected RAW264.7 cells, which can be used in further studies aiming at revealing the functional significance of Dvl2 in the osteoclastogenesis. Most women in China got the equal land rights in the initial distribution of land in the second round of contract. However, women often lose their land rights when they migrate somewhere else due to marriage or some other reasons. It is usually caused by the following four reasons. First, there is a conflict between the related legislations on the unchangeable contract rights for 30 years for the sake of protection and stability of the contract rights of farm households and Chinese custom that married rural women live in their husbands' villages, which leads Io a fact that women married within the contract term can neither get land in their husbands' villages nor take their contracted land away from their native villages and consequently the loss of their land rights. Second, the instability and inconsistence of land policies affect the continuity of the rural women's land contract rights. When local governments in many regions are adjusting land contract rights, they are deeply influenced by various informal constraints such as ethics and customs, which usually lead to the loss of land rights of migrated married women. Third, some migrated married women cannot get the land contract rights for the time being due to the limited land supply in some administrative villages. Lack or small quantity of reserved land make immigrated married women cannot get their land contract rights on time. They can only get the land after some villagers return their lands due to further education, death or marriage. In some villages with small land supply and big population, it will take a long time to get the land. Fourth, some divorced women cannot get the land contract rights due to the inequality between men and women. The contracted lands and the distributed profits from the rural collective lands are usually registered in the name of male head of the households. Once a family breaks, a rural woman is usually in a very disadvantaged position when distributing the household property such as household contracted land, land for house building and its attachment, and collective dividend. To solve the problems on the land rights of rural women, the Government should first affirm the land rights as real rights; quicken the reform of the land property right system; define the legal purview of some disposition rights including use right transfer, subcontract, lease, conversion into shares, joint operation, mortgage, and inheriting; adopt a marketalized mechanism to realize the dynamic land contract rights of married women, for example, distributing and transferring land real rights among family members or establishing cooperation within the family; conduct the shareholding reform of land operation rights and benefit rights in the villages with higher levels of industrialization and urbanization and protect the land rights of rural women by the reform of the land property right system. The Government should also strengthen the legal protection and assure the long-term land use right of the farmers particularly the rural women. The related laws such as "Law of Rural Land Contract" should be strictly implemented and the existing village custom and regulations which are contradictory to the related laws should be abolished. Pompe disease, also known as glycogen storage disease type Ⅱ, is a rare autosomal recessive disease. With the application of enzyme replacement therapy, more and more patients with Pompe disease can survive to adulthood, and nervous system-related clinical manifestations gradually emerge. Nervous system involvement seriously affects the quality of life of patients with Pompe disease, and a systematic understanding of the clinical manifestations, imaging features and pathological changes of nervous system injury in Pompe disease is of great significance for the early identification and intervention of Pompe disease. This article reviews the research progress of neurological damage in Pompe disease.

The traditional paradigm of motor-imagery-based brain-computer interface (BCI) is abstract, which cannot effectively guide users to modulate brain activity, thus limiting the activation degree of the sensorimotor cortex. It was found that the motor imagery task of Chinese characters writing was better accepted by users and helped guide them to modulate their sensorimotor rhythms. However, different Chinese characters have different writing complexity (number of strokes), and the effect of motor imagery tasks of Chinese characters with different writing complexity on the performance of motor-imagery-based BCI is still unclear. In this paper, a total of 12 healthy subjects were recruited for studying the effects of motor imagery tasks of Chinese characters with two different writing complexity (5 and 10 strokes) on the performance of motor-imagery-based BCI. The experimental results showed that, compared with Chinese characters with 5 strokes, motor imagery task of Chinese characters writing with 10 strokes obtained stronger sensorimotor rhythm and better recognition performance ( P < 0.05). This study indicated that, appropriately increasing the complexity of the motor imagery task of Chinese characters writing can obtain stronger motor imagery potential and improve the recognition accuracy of motor-imagery-based BCI, which provides a reference for the design of the motor-imagery-based BCI paradigm in the future.

Objective: To study the transcription factors of the spermatogenesis-related promoter mir-122-5p., Methods: SP1 and GATA4 were predicted as the possible transcription factors of the mir-122-5p promoter by bioinformatics analysis, followed by construction of the double luciferase pGL3-mir-122-5p promoter vector, pcDNA3.1 (+) -SP1 expression vector and pcDNA3.1 (+) -GATA4 expression vector, respectively. The pcDNA-SP1+pGL3-basic mixture plasmid and pcDNA-SP1+ pGL3-miR-122-5p promoter mixture plasmid, pcDNA-GATA4+pGL3-basic mixture plasmid and pcDNA-GATA4+pGL3-miR-122-5p promoter mixture plasmid were transferred into 293T cells. The enzyme activity was detected the Dual-Luciferase Reporter Assay System., Results: The fluorescence value of the pcDNA3.1+pGL3-miR-122 promoter was 0.0362 ± 0.0004, significantly higher than that of the pcDNA3.1+pGL3-basic group (P < 0.05), indicating the successful construction of the mouse miR-122-5p promoter luciferase reporter plasmid. The fluorescence value was markedly higher in the pcDNA -SP1 + pGL3-miR-122-5p promoter than in the pcDNA -SP1+pGL3-basic group, suggesting that the transcription factor SP1 could promote the transcription of miR-122. There was no statistically significant difference in the fluorescence value between the pcDNA -gata4+pGL3-basic transfection and pcDNA -GATA4+pGL3-miR-122-5p promoter transfection groups, indicative of the inability of GATA4 to promote the transcription of miR-122-5p., Conclusions: The transcription factor SP1, rather than GATA4, can promote the transcription of miR-122-5p.

Objective: To study the clinical features and treatment outcome of children with myelin oligodendrocyte glycoprotein (MOG) antibody-associated disorders (MOGAD)., Methods: A retrospective analysis was performed for the clinical data of 28 children with MOGAD (with 38 demyelinating episodes)., Results: Among the disease spectrums of 28 children with MOGAD, optic neuritis was the most common (12 cases, 43%), followed by acute disseminated encephalomyelitis (9 cases, 32%). Among the 38 demyelinating episodes in the 28 children, there were 29 cases (76%) of lesions in the acute stage on head magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), and most of these lesions were extensive or isolated subcortical white matter lesions. A total of 24 cases of spinal MRI results in the acute stage were recorded, among which there were 11 cases (46%) of spinal lesions. MRI abnormalities of the optic nerve were found in 18 cases of optic neuritis in the acute stage. Of the 28 children, 20 (71%) had an increase in white blood cell count in cerebrospinal fluid, with lymphocytes as the most common type of cells, and 3 children had an increase in protein. The titer of serum MOG antibody was 1:10-1:320 in the 28 children. All 28 children were administered with glucocorticoids, along with immunoglobulin in 18 children. The symptoms of 26 children (93%) were alleviated during follow-up, and only 2 children had neurological sequela of the optic function., Conclusions: The clinical manifestations are diverse in children with MOGAD. Immunotherapy is effective and most children have a good prognosis.

Objective: To explore the clinical curative effect of anterolateral acromial approach in treating two-and three-part of proximal humeral fractures., Methods: Forty-two patients of proximal humeral fractures from January 2010 to June 2014 were analyzed retrospectively, including 23 males and 19 females with a mean age of 61.5 years old ranging from 40 to 76 years old. Among them, 22 cases were treated with anterolateral acromial approach and 20 cases were treated with deltopectoral approach. The operation time, intraoperative blood loss, postoperative hospitalization days, fracture healing time of two groups were compared. The shoulder pain after 1 week was assessed by the VAS score. The postoperative shoulder joint function was evaluated after 3 months and more than 6 months by Constant score., Results: The follow-up time was at final 14 months. There were significant differences in operation time( P =0.003), intraoperative blood loss( P =0.001), postoperative hospital day( P =0.013), postoperative shoulder pain after 1 week( P =0.026), postoperative Constant score after 3 months( P =0.014) between the anterolateral acromial approach group and the deltopectoral approach group. There were no significant differences in clinical union time of bone( P =0.462), postoperative constant score after more than 6 months( P =0.204) between the anterolateral acromial approach group and the deltopectoral approach group. There were no breakage of the internal fixation and humeral head osteonecrosis., Conclusions: It has some advantages with anterolateral acromial approach to treat Neer two-and three-part of proximal humeral fractures, such as short operation time, less intraoperative bleeding, lighter postoperative pain, quicker recovery of function., Competing Interests: The authors of this article and the planning committee members and staff have no relevant financial relationships with commercial interests to disclose.

Objective: To observe the effect of electroacupuncture (EA) stimulation at "Dazhui" (GV 14) and "Mingmen" (GV 4) of the Governor Vessel at different time-points on spinal cord neuronal apoptosis and the expression of c-Jun N-terminal kinases (JNK) protein in spinal cord injury (SCI) rats, so as to reveal its mechanism underlying improving SCI., Methods: A total of 108 male SD rats were randomly divided into normal control, SCI model and EA groups which were further divided into 1, 3 and 7 d subgroups (12 rats/subgroup, 6 rats in each subgroup for TUNEL or Western blot, separately). SCI model was established by using the modified Allen's method. EA was applied to GV 14 and GV 4 for 20 min, once daily, for 1, 3 and 7 days, respectively. Basso-Beattie-Bresnahan (BBB) scale was adopted to assess the locomotor function of rats, the TUNEL method was used to examine neuronal apoptosis of injuried spinal cord, and the expression of phosphorylated (p)-c-Jun protein of T 9 -T 11 spinal cord was detected by using Western blot., Results: After modeling, the BBB scores of SCI rats on day 1, 3 and 7 were signi-ficantly decreased ( P <0.01), while the numbers of apoptotic neuronal cells and the expression levels of p-c-Jun protein in the spinal cord were considerably increased at the 3 time-points in the model group ( P <0.01, P <0.05). Following EA intervention, the decreased BBB scores on day 3 and 7, and the increased numbers of apoptotic neuronal cells on day 1, 3 and 7 and the up-regulated expression levels of p-c-Jun protein on day 3 and 7 were obviously suppressed ( P <0.05, P <0.01)., Conclusions: EA intervention can improve the locomotor function of SCI rats, which Feb be related to its effects in reducing neuronal apoptosis and down-regulating p-c-Jun protein in the injuried spinal cord.

Vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) was originally recognized as a substance predominantly with vascular permeability and angiogenesis. Recently, more and more evidence indicated that VEGF is expressed in the neurons of the developing and adult brains. Functional investigation demonstrated that VEGF shows several important effects on the neuronal development and physiological function. For example, VEGF accelerates the development of neurons and neural dendritic and axon growth. Besides, VEGF directly and acutely regulates the functions of multiple ion channels of the neuron membrane and changes neural excitability. In traumatic or ischemic injured brains, VEGF produces neuroprotection, enhances capacity of adult neurogenesis and transformation of astroglial cells into new neurons, which are fundamental basis for re-establishment of neural network. Based on the knowledge obtained from the literatures, we propose that VEGF may play very important roles in neural plasticity in the normal brain, and the reconstruction of neurovascular units and neural repair in the traumatic injured brain. This review mainly focuses on neural activity and repair roles of VEGF in adult mammalian brains. Further study on the mechanism of VEGF's neurobiological effects in the brain will be helpful for understanding the regulation of brain functions and developing new therapeutic strategy for prevention of neurodegeneration of the brain.

Objective: To evaluate the safety of intravenous thrombolysis (IVT) in cerebral microbleeds (CMBs) patients with prior antiplatelet therapy., Methods: Four hundred and forty nine patients with acute ischemic stroke aged (66.8 ± 12.9) years, including 298 males and 151 females, underwent susceptibility-weighted imaging (SWI) examination and MRI-guided IVT therapy between June 2009 and June 2015. The presence of CMBs, previous antiplatelet therapy, HT subtypes according to ECASS II criteria and functional outcome based on modified Rankin scale (mRS) at 3 months were analyzed in logistic regression model., Results: Total 934 CMBs were detected in 172 (38.3%) patients, among whom 63 (14.0%) previously received antiplatelet therapy. All patients received intravenous recombinant tissue-plasminogen activator (rt-PA) for thrombolysis with the onset-to needle time of (229.0 ± 103.7) min. The pretreatment National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS) score was 10 (IQR 5-15). Logistic regression analysis indicated that prior antiplatelet use increased neither risk of parenchymal hematoma (PH) (OR=0.809,95% CI:0.201-3.262, P=0.766) nor adverse functional outcome (OR=1.517, 95% CI:0.504-4.568, P=0.459) in patients with CMBs; while in patients with multiple CMBs (≥ 3) prior antiplatelet use increased risk of hemorrhagic transformation (OR=9.737, 95% CI: 1.364-69.494, P=0.023), but not adverse functional outcome (OR=1.697, 95% CI:0.275-10.487, P=0.569)., Conclusion: The study indicates that in patients with CMBs, thrombolytic therapy should not be excluded due to the prior use of antiplatelet; however, the larger prospective studies are needed in future for patients with multiple CMBs.

Objective: To investigate the cerebral lesions of diffusion weighted imaging (DWI) hyperintensity in patients with subacute stroke with intravoxel incoherent motion (IVIM) technique., Methods: The clinical data of 20 patients with ischemic stroke (3 to 7 d after onset) who underwent DWI and IVIM scanning between June 2014 and July 2015, were retrospectively analyzed. The parameters from IVIM including slow diffusion coefficient (D), fast diffusion coefficient (D(*)) and perfusion fraction (f) were processed. DWI hyperintensity was segmented by its signal intensity greater than the mean+2 standard deviations of the value in the homologous contralateral region. Then, DWI hyperintensity was classified into two regions of interest (ROIs): infarction core and peri-core with the ADC threshold of 0.55 × 10⁻³ mm²/s. The mirrored ROIs of infarction core and peri-core were also obtained. Then, we measured the values of ADC and D, D(*) and f in these ROIs. The ratios of ADC (rADC), D (rD), D(*) (rD(*)) and f (rf) were also calculated (e.g., rADC=ADCinfarction core/ADCmirrored region)., Results: Compared with mirrored region, ADC, D and f in the infarction core region decreased by 45% (P<0.001), 42% (P<0.001) and 32% (P<0.001), respectively; while ADC, D and f in the peri-core region decreased by 22% (P<0.001), 32% (P<0.001) and 8% (P=0.009), respectively. The values of rADC, rD, rD(*) and rf in the infarction core region were significantly lower than those in the peri-core region (all P<0.001). Pearson analysis showed that rADC was positively correlated with rf in the peri-core region (r=0.467, P=0.038)., Conclusion: During subacute stage of stroke, compared to the infarction core region within DWI hyperintensity, D and f increase in the peri-core region of DWI hyperintensity, reflecting the increased water diffusion in microstructure and perfusion volume in microvasculature. This result shows that the potential reason for the heterogeneous ADC signal is associated with the disappearance of cellular edema and microvascular compensatory with increased blood volume.

Objective: To observe the effect of acupuncture intervention at different time-points on the activity of superoxide dismutase (SOD), glutathione peroxidase (GSH-PX), the content of malonaldehyde (MDA) and expression of heat shock protein 70 (HSP 70) of liver tissue in rats with simulated weightlessness, so as to explore its mechanism underlying improvement of liver injury in rats with simulated weightlessness., Methods: Twenty male Wistar rats were randomly divided into control group, model group, pre-acupuncture group and EA group, 5 rats in each. The model of simulated weightlessness was established by tail suspension for 4 week. One week before the tail suspension, the rats in the pre-acupuncture group were treated with electroacupuncture (EA) at "Shenshu" (BL 23), "Pishu"(BL 20) and "Sanyinjiao" (SP 6) for 30 min before treatment, once a day for 7 days. The rats in the EA group received tail suspension and acupuncture intervention at the same time. EA was applied for 30 min per treatment, once every other day for 14 times. Immunohistochemical staining was used to assay the expression of HSP 70 in the liver tissue. The activities of SOD and GSH-PX and content of MDA in liver tissues were examined by means of colourimetric method. Results Compared with the control group,the expression of HSP 70 and the content of MDA in the liver tissue were increased significantly (P < 0.01), and the activity of SOD and GSH-PX was notably reduced (P < 0.05) in the model group. Compared with the model group, the content of HSP 70 was significantly reduced in the pre-acupuncture group (P < 0.01). There were no significant changes in the levels of SOD, GSH-PX, MDA and HSP 70 in the EA group (P > 0.05). In comparison with the pre-acupuncture group, the activity of GSH-PX was lower (P < 0.05) and the content of MDA was higher (P < 0.05) in the EA group., Conclusion: EA-pretreatment can suppress the increase of liver HSP 70 immunoactivity in rats with simulated weightlessness, being likely to improve the antioxidant ability of liver.

Objective: The hypothesis that "cell phone induces brain tumor" has become a target of much controversy for several decades and is still a matter of debate even now. We aim to make a systematic review and meta-analysis based on published studies on glioma to identify current evidences for evaluating mobile phones and glioma risk, especially on long-term use of mobile phones., Methods: The study was conducted according to the Cochrane systematic review methods and reported according to the PRISMA (Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic reviews and Meta-Analyses) statement according to a prospective research protocol accessed via http://www.crd.york.ac.uk/prospero. The software RevMan 5 was used for statistic analysis. Latency and lateralization were used for the examining the dose-response relationship., Results: Overall evidence suggested the increased risk of glioma among long-term ipsilateral users of mobile phone with an odds ratio (OR) of 1.46[1.12, 1.92] based on meta-analysis. Especially, for low-grade glioma, long-term use yielded an OR value of 2.27 [1.81, 2.85]., Conclusion: The evidence is currently insufficient on this issue, especially on long-term use of mobile phone. Neither a definite answer nor a clear explanation may be offered for the relationship. And larger prospective trials are warranted.

Objective: To investigate the effect of high-intensity focused ultrasound (HIFU) and gemcitabine on xenograft growth in nude mice bearing human pancreatic cancer., Methods: Nude mouse models bearing subcutaneous human pancreatic cancer cell line PANC-1 xenograft were randomized into 4 groups, including a control group and 3 treatment groups subjected to treatments with HIFU, gemcitabine, or both. After the treatments, the tumor was measured on a weekly basis for 5 weeks, and the tumor growth curve was drawn. The tumor inhibition rate was calculated and the expression of vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) in the tumor tissue was examined by immunohistochemistry., Results: The tumor volume showed significant differences between the 3 treatment groups (P<0.01), but all significantly smaller than that in the control group; HIFU combined with gemcitabine resulted in the most obvious reduction in the tumor volume. VEGF expression in the tumor tissue was the lowest in the combined treatment group and the highest in the control group., Conclusion: HIFU therapy produces definite therapeutic effect on human pancreatic cancer in the nude mouse model, and its combination with chemotherapy is the optimal treatment modality.

Objective: To observe the duration of enterovirus-71 (EV71) and coxsackievirus A 16 (CoxA16) viral shedding in stool samples of children with hand, foot and mouth disease (HFMD) infected with EV71 and CoxA16 and to explore the relationship between the duration of intestinal virus shedding and the severity of illness of children with HFMD., Method: Totally 113 laboratory-confirmed cases of children with HFMD infected with EV71 and CoxA16 were followed up. The stool samples were collected with the interval of 4 to7 days and the viral nucleic acids were detected by fluorescent PCR until the stool viral nucleic acids of infected children turned to be negative. The cases in EV71 group were further divided into "ordinary EV71 group" and "severe EV71 group" according to the severity of the illness. The positive rates of viral nucleic acid and the differences of distribution among different groups were analyzed by Kaplan-Meier survival analysis during the follow-up period., Result: The 113 cases of infected children were grouped as follows: 65 cases of EV71 positive children, 44 cases of CoxA16 positive children, 4 cases of EV71/CoxA16 mixed infection. The median duration of the stool viral nucleic acids turning to negative was 26 (18.25-32.50) days in EV71 group and 27 (14.50-33.75) days in CoxA16 group (Z = 1.51, P > 0.05). At 1, 4, 6 and 10 weeks, the positive rates of stool viral nucleic acid of children with HFMD in EV71 group were 100%, 48.1%, 17.2% and 0 respectively. At 1, 4 and 6 weeks, the positive rates of stool viral nucleic acid of children with HFMD in CoxA16 group were 95.5%, 53.8% and 0 respectively (χ(2) = 0.18, P > 0.05). At 1, 4 and 6 weeks, the positive rates of stool viral nucleic acid of children with HFMD in ordinary EV71 group were 100%, 23.5% and 0 respectively, while at 1, 4, 6 and 10 weeks, the positive rates of stool viral nucleic acid of children with HFMD in severe EV71 group were 100%, 62.4%, 26.0% and 0 respectively (χ(2) = 5.689, P < 0.05)., Conclusion: The duration of enterovirus shedding in stool samples of children with HFMD lasted for a long period. The maximum duration of EV71 and CoxA16 in stool of children with HFMD was 10 weeks and 6 weeks, respectively. The duration of intestinal virus shedding of children with HFMD infected with EV71 was related with the severity of the illness.

Objective: To study the relationship between metastasis or recurrence of hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) and hepatitis B virus (HBV) DNA load or the presence of double mutation at 1762/1764 in the basic core promoter (BCP)., Methods: One-hundred-and-fifty-seven patients with HCC were included in the study. Events of tumor metastasis or recurrence were recorded during 120 weeks of clinical follow-up after treatment by surgery or transarterial chemoembolization (TACE). The 1-year follow-up included monthly alpha fetoprotein (AFP) measurement and abdominal ultrasonography (US), as well as helical computed tomographic (CT) scan performed every 3 months. Follow-up beyond 1-year (surveillance) included AFP measurement and abdominal US every 2 months and helical CT scan every 6 months. Suspected metastasis or recurrence was investigated by hepatic angiography and confirmed according to the combined imaging findings. Serum HBV DNA level was measured by real-time PCR. HBV genotypes were determined by PCR-restriction fragment length polymorphism analysis., Results: Of the 157 HCC cases 110 experienced tumor metastasis or recurrence; the cumulative probability of post-treatment HCC metastasis or recurrence was 4 (2.55%) at week 12, 14 (8.92%) at week 24, 28 (17.83%) at week 48, 64 (40.76%) at week 72, 92 (58.60%) at week 96, and 110 (70.06%) at week 120. Multivariate analysis indicated that both the BCP 1762/1764 double mutations and HBV DNA levels were risk factors for HCC recurrence or metastasis. In particular, the incidence of HCC recurrence or metastasis increased with baseline serum HBV DNA levels in a dose-response manner, ranging from 8/19 (42.1%) for less than 3 log10 copies/ml HBV DNA to 35/61 (57.3%) for 3-5 log10 copies/ml and 67/77 (87.0%) for more than 5 log10 copies/ml. After adjusting for potential confounders, serum HBV DNA level remained independently associated with HCC metastasis or recurrence. HCC recurrence or metastasis occurred in 22/43 (51.2%) of patients without BCP 1762/1764 mutations and 88/114 (77.2%) of patients with BCP 1762/1764 mutations. The adjusted odds ratio for patients infected with BCP 1762/1764 double mutation HBV, compared with those infected with non-BCP 1762/1764 mutation HBV, was 5.264 (95% CI: 1.436-12.574, P less than 0.05)., Conclusion: Infection with HBV carrying the BCP 1762/1764 double mutation and presence of high HBV DNA load are independent risk factors for developing HCC metastasis or recurrence after surgery or TACE.

Objective: To explore the role of small-dose recombinant human coagulation factor VIIa (rFVIIa) for coagulopathy in patients with isolated traumatic brain injury., Methods: A total of 86 isolated traumatic brain patients with coagulopathy were treated at our neurosurgery intensive care unit (NICU) from January 2010 to December 2012. Their trauma registry data included mortality, pre-and post-rFVIIa coagulation parameters. Two-tailed paired t-test was used to determine significant changes in coagulation parameters and other major clinical parameters., Results: Twenty-seven patients made up the low-dose rFVIIa (20 µg/kg) group. And the control group had 59 well-matched subjects. At admission, age, blood pressure, Glasgow coma scale score, hemoglobin, platelets and international normalize ratio were similar in both groups. After treatment, the INR of patients on rFVIIa was lower than that of the conventional treatment group (1.1 ± 0.2 vs 1.2 ± 0.2, P < 0.01) and it declined more in the rFVIIa group (0.3 ± 0.2 vs 0.1 ± 0.4, P = 0.05). No significant difference existed in mortality or length of stay between two groups.There was no occurrence of subsequent thromboembolic events., Conclusion: The application of small-dose rFVIIa can effectively reduce the value of INR and improve the coagulation status of patients. During the course of treatment, no major adverse events occur.

Objective: To retrospectively explore the long-term efficacies of sinus skeletonization plus abnormal venous reflux interruption in the treatment of dural arteriovenous fistula interfering major dural sinus., Methods: Among 15 consecutively treated patients, the lesions were located in superior sagittal sinus (n = 7), medial segment of transverse sinus (n = 3) and lateral transverse and sigmoid sinus (n = 5). And 40% of them clinically presented with intracranial hypertension and 13.3% with hemorrhage. Preoperatively, Gamma knife therapy and transarterial occlusion were used in 1 case each. All underwent sinus skeletonization plus abnormal venous reflux interruption if any. Interfered sinus was preserved in 12 cases. In another 3 cases, completely occluded segment of sinus was resected after skeletonization., Results: Surgical mortality was none. At discharge, the symptoms were relieved or disappeared in 12 cases. Follow-up study was available in 11 cases over a mean period of 6 years. A Karnofsky performance status (KPS) score of 90 or more was achieved in 8 cases and a KPS score of 80, 60 or 40 was found in 1 case each. Digital subtract angiography was performed in 9 cases and computed tomographic angiography in 1 case after operation. Cure was achieved in 7 cases and 3 cases had minimal residue without recurrence., Conclusion: Sinus skeletonization may stably block most blood supply to fistula so as to offer cure or long-term control of dural arteriovenous fistula.

Objective: To evaluate the prognosis and efficacies of comprehensive treatment for recurrent gliomas., Methods: A total of 62 patients diagnosed as recurrent gliomas at our hospital between May 2007 and January 2012 were reviewed and analyzed. The investigators compared the prognosis of different grades of gliomas and evaluated the efficacies of combined modality therapy of surgery, radiotherapy, chemotherapy and immunotherapy., Results: Their median periods of time-to-progression (TTP) and overall survival (OS) were 6.0 and 13.0 months respectively. The median TTP of WHO grade II (n = 21), III (n = 13) and IV (n = 28) recurrent gliomas were 9.0, 9.0 and 5.0 months respectively. And the average OS of WHO grade II, III and IV recurrent gliomas were 26.6, 21.4 and 13.8 months respectively. The efficacious rate of chemotherapy was 26.7%., Conclusion: Combined modality therapy based on chemotherapy may moderately improve the prognosis of recurrent gliomas. And the pathological grades of primary tumors are correlated with the prognosis of recurrent gliomas.

To evaluate the efficacy and safety of pegylated-interferon (Peg-IFN) treatment as monotherapy or in combination with nucleoside analogues (NAs) for treating chronic hepatis B (CHB) infection.Searches of PubMed, OVID, EMBASE, and the Chinese Medical (WanFang, CNKI, and VIP) databases were conducted to identify all relevant randomized controlled trials published since January 1990. Twelve studies comparing Peg-IFN monotherapy to NA combination therapy (lamivudine (LAM), n =8); adefovir (ADV), n = 4) met the inclusion criteria (treatment duration, range: 48-52 weeks; follow-up, range: 24 weeks to three years). Meta-analysis was performed with RevMan 5.0 using the fixed-effects and random-effects models. Patients who had received combination therapy had a higher biochemical response rate at the end of treatment than those who had received monotherapy (51.1% vs. 38.9%, odds ratio (OR) = 1.63, 95% confidence interval (CI): 1.33-2.01, P less than 0.01). Subgroup analysis of Peg-IFN combination therapies with LAM or ADV indicated that neither NA type significantly enhanced the increased efficacy of combination therapy compared to monotherapy. The combination therapy subgroups also had higher virologic response rates at the end of treatment than the monotherapy subgroups (LAM: 65.9% vs. 34.9%, OR = 3.57, 95% CI: 1.83-6.95, P less than 0.01; ADV: 74.6% vs. 46.2%, OR = 3.66, 95% CI: 2.13-6.30, P less than 0.01). Moreover, the combination therapy group had a higher sustained biochemical response rate at the end of follow-up than the monotherapy group (47.6% vs. 42.1%, OR = 1.28, 95% CI: 1.05-1.55, P less than 0.05). The LAM combination therapy subgroup had a significantly higher biochemical response rate than the monotherapy subgroup, but there was no significant difference between the LAM and ADV combination therapy subgroups. At the end of follow-up, the ADV combination therapy subgroup had a significantly lower rate of hepatitis B e antigen (HBeAg) than the monotherapy subgroup, but there was no significant difference between the ADV and LAM combination therapy subgroups for HbeAg reduction. The combination therapy group and monotherapy group showed no statistically significant differences in HBsAg reduction or occurrence of severe adverse events. Peg-IFN/NA combination therapy produces a higher biochemical response rate in CHB patients than PEG-IFN monotherapy. Moreover, Peg-IFN/ADV combination therapy produces a greater reduction in HBeAg than Peg-IFN monotherapy.

Objective: To compare the efficacy and safety of a double therapy containing pegylated interferon and ribavirin to a triple therapy (with addition of a protease inhibitor) for untreated chronic hepatitis C with genotype 1 infection., Methods: We searched Pub med, EMBASE, OVID, the Cochrane Library Clinical Trials Registry and included relevant randomized controlled trials for comparing the efficacy and safety of the triple therapy to the double therapy in HCV genotype 1 untreated patient, using terms: protease inhibitor, hepatitis C, genotype 1. The primary endpoints were composed of the rates of SVR, the rates of relapse, the rates of anemia, and the rates of discontinuation due to severe adverse events, respectively., Results: Five trials (involving a total of 3200 patients) were included. Data showed the triple therapy with either telaprevir or boceprevir significantly increased the SVR rate and decreased the relapse rate compared with the double therapy [for SVR rate, 65.4% vs. 40.9%, OR=2.92, 95% CI 2.5 to 3.42, P less than 0.01, and for relapse rate, 11.3% vs. 24.8%, OR=0.42, 95% CI 0.26 to 0.68, P less than 0.01], but the triple therapy associated with higher side effects and intolerability [ higher anemia rate, 44.1 % vs. 26.2%, OR=2.25, 95% CI 1.9 to 2.65, P less than 0.01 and higher discontinuation rate owing to severe adverse events, 12.4% vs. 7.7%, OR=1.66, 95% CI 1.19 to 2.32, P less than 0.01]. Subgroup analysis found that the rates of SVR were still higher and the relapse rates were lower in all triple treatment groups [composed by 24 (or 28) -week groups, 48-week groups, and response-guided therapy groups] than that of the double therapy., Conclusion: A triple therapy with peginterferon-ribavirin plus either boceprevir or telaprevir significantly increased the rate of sustained virologic response among untreated patients infected with hepatitis C genotype 1. Both the incidence of adverse events and the frequency of discontinuation owing to severe adverse events were higher in patients receiving the triple therapy than those receiving the standard double therapy.

Objectives: To evaluate preliminary clinical experience for combining awake craniotomy and intraoperative language brain mapping within the integrated 3.0 T intraoperative magnetic resonance imaging (iMRI) suite., Methods: From December 2010 to April 2011, 11 right hand-dominant patients with left glioma were involved in, or adjacent to, eloquent cortex was carried out awake craniotomies with cortical stimulation within an integrated 3.0 T iMRI suite. Aphasia battery of Chinese was used to test the language function before the operation. During the procedure, after the occipital, temporal, and supraorbital nerves were blocked by the anesthesiologists, the head was fixed with a custom high-field MRI-compatible head holder. The skull and dura was opened as usual and language brain mapping was then performed. Language testing followed a set protocol: counting numbers from 1 to 50, naming objects, reading single words. Resection of the tumor was guided by neuronavigation system and continued until eloquent areas were encountered or the margin of assessment was reached. An interdissection MRI was acquired to evaluate the glioma removal in a movable MRI scanner after minimal draping. Meanwhile, adverse effects caused by electrical stimulation and iMRI were recorded. The follow-up speech tests were assessed on 7th day and 1 month at least after the operation., Results: The combined use of 3.0 T iMRI and awake craniotomy was performed safely in all patients. No adverse effects were reported. The duration of surgery was prolonged by 2 to 4 h. The patients' perception of iMRI during surgery was favorable. First-look MRI studies led to further resection attempts in 6/11 cases as well as a 3/11 increase in the number of gross-total resections. One week after surgery, baseline language function worsened in 4 cases. However, no patients had a persistent language deficit one month after surgery., Conclusions: Awake craniotomy and direct cortical electrical stimulation can be performed safely and effectively within a 3.0 T iMRI suite. The combination of high-field iMRI and awake craniotomy may facilitate safe removal of eloquent glioma.

Objective: To report the preliminary experience in clinical application of 3.0 T intraoperative magnetic resonance imaging (iMRI) neuronavigation system in China., Methods: From September 2010 to March 2011, a consecutive series of 122 patients with intracranial lesions underwent operations in guidance with 3.0 T iMRI. A retrospective analysis was conducted regarding clinical efficiency., Results: Among 122 procedures, the numbers of intraoperative scanning were 2 - 4 times with an average of 2.6. The qualities of images were excellent. Due to the discovery and further possibility of resection of residual tumors, the ratio of gross total resection was increased from 71.7% to 90.0% in cerebral gliomas (n = 60), while from 75.9% to 93.1% in macroadenomas (n = 29). There were 6.7% of all patients occurred postoperative paralysis, but only 3.3% of patients had persistent paralysis at 1 - 2 months follow-up. There was no iMRI-related adverse event occurred. During the same period, more than 2500 patients underwent diagnostic MRI scanning., Conclusions: 3.0 T iMRI neuronavigation system provides high-quality intraoperative structural, functional and metabolic images for real time tumor resection control and accurate functional preservation, resulting in an improvement in maximal safe brain surgery. The system is cost-effective.

Objective: To explore the surgical indications and efficacy of lateral approaches in the removal of brainstem cavernous malformations retrospectively., Methods: From July 1999 to June 2008, 10 cases of brainstem cavernous malformations were removed via lateral approaches. Four of them had reached the lateral pial surface and 6 were covered by parenchyma or glial tissue. Three lesions were located dorsal to the cranial nerve roots and 4 lesions rostral to the facial nerve root. All 7 lesions were removed via the retrosigmoidal approach. Far lateral approach was used for 2 cases with the lesions ventral or caudal to the posterior cranial nerves. Subtemporal approach was adopted in 1 patient with the lesion ventral and rostral to the trigeminal nerve. The preoperative visual reality technique, in combination with intraoperative neuronavigation, was employed in the recent 3 cases to select a safe entry point on the surface of brainstem and a surgical corridor so as to maintain minimal damage to the surrounding fiber tracts and cranial nerve nuclei., Results: Total lesion removal was achieved in all patients. Four cases of associated venous malformation were all preserved. The mean NIHSS score was 1.1 after a mean post-operative follow-up of 41 months. Eight patients improved, 1 worsened and 1 remained unchanged versus the preoperative state., Conclusion: Lateral approaches are recommended for lesions reaching the lateral glial surface or accessible via the lateral safe entry zone approaches.

Objective: To explore an effective method for further improving the surgical results of treatment of olfactory groove meningiomas., Methods: Sixty seven cases of olfactory groove meningiomas were treated by microneurosurgery, among which fifty seven were de novo cases, eight were recurrent tumors and the other two re-recurrent cases. Modified Derome approach was used in 12 cases, bilateral subfrontal approach in 28 cases, modified pterional approach in 21 cases and unilateral subfrontal approach in six cases. Tumors were resected microsurgically with radical removal of invaded dura, bone, and paranasal sinus mucosa. Reconstruction was performed in patients with skull base defect., Results: Simpson grade I removal was accomplished in 59 cases, grade II in seven cases and grade IV in one case. Among 57 patients with de novo tumor, Simpson I resection was accomplished in 54 cases. Postoperative rhinorrhea and intracranial infection occurred in one case and was cured after temporal lumbar CSF drainage and antibiotic therapy. Two patients (2.9%) died within one month after operation, i.e.one aged patient of heart failure and the other of severe hypothalamus complication. Forty seven patients (72.3%) were followed up from one to ten years with an average of five years and four months. With the exception of two cases died, among the alive 45 patients, there were only three patients with tumor recurrence, which had undergone Simpson II or IV tumor resection. No recurrence was found in cases with Simpson I tumor removal. Previous blurred vision was not improved in three patients, hemiparalysis in two patients, and the other patients recovered well, resuming previous jobs or being able to take care themselves., Conclusions: Total tumor removal (Simpson I) should be the surgical goal for treatment of olfactory groove meningiomas, especially for de novo cases. An appropriate approach is fundamental in the effort to remove an OGM totally. Appropriate anterior skull base reconstruction with vascularized material is important and mandatory.

Objective: To analyze the effects of intracranial tumors and tumor resection on patients' memory functions., Methods: Four different memory scales were employed to evaluate 58 intracranial tumor patients' memory functions including short-term memory, delayed memory, clue memory and long-term memory. Thirty-five patients received postoperative follow-ups. There were also 18 healthy controls., Results: The extra-cerebral tumor patients presented with delayed memory and long-term memory disorders while intra-cerebral tumor patients suffered from short-term, delayed and severe long-term memory disorders. Patients with dominant hemispheric tumors had more serious memory disorders in all types. Scores obtained after surgery showed an aggravated long-term memory disorder. Sellar region tumors and transsphenoidal tumor resection had no effects upon memory functions., Conclusion: Intracranial tumors cause memory disorders. Tumors with different locations and characters have different memory impairments. Intra-cerebral tumors result in more severe memory impairment than extra-cerebral tumors. And dominant hemispheric tumors are worse than non-dominant hemispheric tumors. Tumor resection decreases long-term memory functions.

Objective: To study the ethylene responsive element binding protein genes of Salvia miltiorrhiza through bioinformatics and characterization of its tissue expression in regenerated plantlets., Method: The ethylene responsive element binding protein genes were obtained by cDNA microarray analyze. BLAST was used for alignment, ORF finder software was used to find open reading frame, Prosite database was used to analyze the protein. Semi-quantitative RT- PCR method was used to detect the gene expression level., Result: One ethylene responsive element binding protein was obtained, named as SmERF. SmERF had an open reading frame of 699 bp with 5'-URT 87 bp and 3'-URT 166 bp. The putative protein SmERF contains a highly conserved ERF/AP2 domain. Semiquantitative RT- PCR illustrated that SmERF was expressed in all tissues such as root, stem and leaf in regenerated shoots, while the expression level was higher in root than in stem and leaf., Conclusion: It was the first time to obtain ERF gene in S. miltiorrhiza and set a good foundation for its further functional study.

Objective: To study the values of immunohistochemistry staining and cytological diagnosis by using cell block sections prepared with the effusion fluid cytology specimens., Methods: Ninety-nine effusion cytology specimens with the diagnoses of reactive mesothelial hyperplasia, atypical cells and metastatic carcinoma were enrolled into the study. The cytospin preparations/smears, cell block sections and immunohistochemical study were performed and correlated with the clinical findings and follow-up data., Results: Amongst the 99 cases studied, the percentage with positive diagnosis using cytospin preparations/smears was 68.7% (68/99). The percentages with negative and equivocal diagnoses were 16.2% (16/99) and 15.1% (15/99), respectively. As for cell block sections, the percentages were 71.7% (71/99), 16.2% (16/99) and 12.1% (12/99), respectively. On the other hands, the percentages became 76.8% (76/99), 20.2% (20/99) and 3.0% (3/99), respectively, when coupled with immunohistochemical findings. The overall percentages of positive, negative and equivocal diagnoses were 77.8% (77/99), 17.2% (17/99) and 5.0% (5/99), respectively, upon clinicopathologic correlation. The difference between cytospin preparations/smears and cell block sections was not statistically significant (P > 0.05). When coupled with immunohistochemical findings or clinicopathologic correlation, the difference in rates of equivocal diagnosis however carried statistical significance (P < 0.05). The false-negative rate of immunohistochemical study applied on cell block sections was 1.0% (1/99)., Conclusions: Immunohistochemistry, when applied on cell block sections, is useful in delineation of the primary origins of the tumor cells in effusion fluid cytology specimens. Combination of morphologic examination, immunohistochemical findings and clinicopathologic correlation can further improve the rate of positive diagnosis.

Objective: To discuss the surgical treatment of the giant aneurysms of middle cerebral artery., Methods: Clinical data, surgical methods and outcomes were analyzed in 17 giant aneurysms of middle cerebral artery treated from January 2001 to March 2008. CT scan, CTA, MRA, DSA and 3D-DSA were performed before operations so that we could comprehend the location, size, and shape of aneurysms and compensatory circulation of collateral branches to design the individualized treatment options. All patients had been surgically treated mostly by modified pterional approach, of which, direct clipping of the aneurysms was accomplished in 4 patients, aneurysms trapping or removal after trapping in 4, aneurysms excision or trapping combined with vessels reconstruction in 7, and aneurysms wrapping in 2 cases., Results: CT and MRI revealed the shape and size of aneurysms clearly, while DSA and 3D-DSA could demonstrate the aneurysm's neck and relationship with the adjacent structure. Postoperative neurological function was evaluated according to Glasgow Outcome Scale when patients were discharged. Twelve patients had excellent neurological outcomes. However 4 patients were moderately disabled and one were severely disabled. No patient was dead postoperatively., Conclusions: It is necessary to perform elaborate imaging before operations for individualized surgical planning. The temporary occlusion of the parent artery and elimination of intra-aneurysmal thrombus are helpful to clipping the aneurysmal neck. Vessels reconstruction is a new and effective method of treating the giant aneurysms of middle cerebral artery.

Objective: To study the status of loss of heterozygosity (LOH) of chromosome 1p/19q and p53 protein expression in oligodendroglioma, as compared to astrocytoma., Methods: One hundred and ninety-one cases of glioma of different histologic types and grades, including 116 cases of low-grade of oligodendroglioma (86 paraffin-embedded and 30 fresh tissues), 45 cases of anaplastic oligodendroglioma (all paraffin-embedded tissues) and 30 cases of astrocytoma of various grades (all paraffin-embedded tissues), were enrolled into the study. The LOH of chromosome 1p/19q was investigated by polymerase chain reaction (PCR)-based microsatellite analysis. The p53 protein expression was demonstrated by immunohistochemical staining., Results: The rates of 1p loss, 19q loss and 1p/19q loss were 69.8%, 64%, and 57.0% respectively in the 86 paraffin-embedded low-grade oligodendroglioma samples, as compared to 71.1%, 60.0% and 55.6% respectively in the 45 paraffin-embedded anaplastic oligodendroglioma samples. There was no difference of LOH of 1p/19q between low-grade oligodendroglioma and anaplastic oligodendroglioma (P>0.05). In the 30 cases of low-grade oligodendroglioma with fresh tissues available, the rates of 1p loss, 19q loss and 1p/19q loss were 70.0%, 63.3% and 60.0% respectively. The LOH of 1p/19q between paraffin-embedded and fresh samples was not statistically significant (P>0.05). In the 30 cases of astrocytoma, the rates of 1p loss, 19q loss and 1p/19q loss were 23.3%, 33.3% and 20.0% respectively, which were significantly less than those in oligodendroglioma (P<0.05). The expression of p53 protein was significantly lower in low-grade oligodendroglioma (8.1%) than in anaplastic oligodendroglioma (31.1%, P=0.007). The expression of p53 protein in oligodendroglioma was also lower than in astrocytoma (P=0.001). Furthermore, p53 protein expression negatively correlated with 1p/19q loss in anaplastic oligodendroglioma (P<0.05)., Conclusions: Both paraffin-embedded and fresh tissues are suitable for analysis of LOH of chromosome 1p/19q. Oligodendroglioma demonstrates a higher frequency of LOH of chromosome 1p/19q and lower expression of p53 protein than astrocytoma. The LOH of chromosome 1p/19q negatively correlates with the expression of p53 protein. These parameters have both diagnostic and prognostic values.

Objective: To explore the relationship between the characteristic geometry and the risk of rupture in cerebral saccular aneurysm., Methods: The clinical features of 473 cerebral saccular aneurysm patients with complete materials of cerebral angiography, 426 with ruptured aneurysm and 47 with unruptured aneurysm, were analyzed retrospectively. The relation of depth, neck width, and aspect ratio (AR) of aneurysms to the risk of rupture were analyzed., Results: The mean depth, neck width, and the AR of the patients with ruptured aneurysm were (5.9+/-3.0) mm, (3.0+/-1.2) mm, and (2.1+/-0.9), all significantly lower than those of the unruptured aneurysm patients [(8.0+/-4.2) mm, (4.8+/-2.4) mm, and (1.7+/-0.6) respectively, all P<0.01]., Conclusion: AR is not correlated with the location of aneurysms, but reflects the geometrical and hemodynamic features of cerebral saccular aneurysms very well. High AR may be useful in predicting imminent aneurysmal rupture. But by now, no definitive AR level is accepted in discriminating between unruptured and ruptured aneurysms.

Background: S100A7 is a member of S100 family and its overexpression has been previously associated with carcinogenesis of certain cancers. The aim of this study is to explore the expression of calcium-binding protein S100A7 in lung cancer., Methods: In the present study, RT-PCR, Western-blot and immunohistochemistry were used to analyze the different expression of S100A7 in lung cancer tissues and paired noncancerous lung tissues., Results: The specific expression of S100A7 was found in squamous cell carcinomas and large cell lung carcinomas, whereas it was not detected in adenocarcinomas, small cell carcinomas, other cell types of lung cancer and normal lung tissues as well as paired noncancerous lung tissues., Conclusions: S100A7 was selectively expressed in squamous cell carcinomas and large cell lung carcinomas and may serve as a potential marker for lung cancer diagnosis.

Objective: To establish a proper experimental model of bone cancer pain in rat for acupuncture research, and observe the pain-relieving effect of electroacupuncture (EA) and/or Celebrex on bone cancer pain in rats., Methods: The rat model of bone cancer pain was established by percutaneous direct puncture technique and inoculating the rat mammary gland carcinoma cells Walker 256 into tibial medullary cavity directly, and evaluated by detecting the bone tumor growth and mechanical allodynia. The effects of daily EA treatment and/or Celebrex treatment on the rat mechanical allodynia after intratibial Walker 256 inoculation was observed in this study., Results: Significant mechanical allodynia in ipsilateral hind paw and tumor growth in proximal end of tibial bone of rats in the untreated group were observed after intratibial Walker 256 inoculation. The mechanical allodynia thresholds in rats that received EA or 5 mg/(kg.d) Celebrex treatment showed no significant difference as compared with that of rats in the untreated group. However, the mechanical allodynia thresholds of rats in 10 mg/(kg.d) Celebrex group showed significant increase after 22- and 26-day treatment as compared with that in the methyl cellulose (MC) group. There was significant difference between rats with EA combined with 5 mg/(kg.d) Celebrex treatment and rats in the untreated group after 10-, 18- and 23-day treatment., Conclusion: EA and 5 mg/(kg.d) Celebrex have synergistic effect on pain relieving and their combined use may enhance the analgesic effect on bone cancer pain.

Objective: To investigate the clinical features of pediatric cerebrovascular disorders., Methods: The clinical data of 204 cases of pediatric cerebrovascular disease, 134 male and 70 female (1.91: 1), aged 12.7 (32 d - 17.9 years), hospitalized in the past 13 years were analyzed retrospectively. The diagnosis of intracranial hemorrhage was mainly based on CT, Digital subtraction angiography was conducted on 130 cases and pathological examination was conducted on 78 cases., Results: Intracranial hemorrhage was seen in 195 cases. The onset of symptoms was acute or subacute in 73.5% of the patients (150/204). The main manifestations included headache (70.6%), vomiting (50%), loss of consciousness (22.5%), convulsion (21.6%), and focal neurological deficits (13.2%). The causes included arteriovenous malformation (42.2%, 86/204), cavernoma (16.2%, 33/204), aneurysm (8.8%, 18/204), and moyamoya disease (5.9%, 12/204), and the cause remained unknown in 43 of the patients (21%)., Conclusion: The epidemiology of pediatric cerebrovascular diseases has its own specificity. Therefore, it is crucial to deal timely with it according to the characteristics of the cerebrovascular diseases in children's.

Objective: To study the metallothionein genes of Salvia miltiorrhiza through bioinformatics and characterization of tissue expression in regenerated shoots., Method: Metallothionein genes were obtained by cDNA microarray analyze. BLAST was used for align, ORF finder software was used to find open reading frame, Prosite database was used to analyze the protein. Semi-quantitative RT-PCR method was used to detect the gene expression level., Result: Two metallothionein genes were obtained which were contained a deduced amino acid sequence of 80 and 79 residues, named as SmMT-2a and SmMT-2b, they had a homology of 71.25%. Semiquantitative RT-PCR indicated that metallothionein genes were expressed in all tissues such as root, stem and leaf in regenerated shoots, while the expression level was higher in leaf than in root and stem., Conclusion: It was the first time that metallothionein genes were obtained from S. miltiorrhiza. It provides a good basis for further functional study of S. miltiorrhiza.
