- Abstract
In this paper we assessed how lower body negative pressure (LBNP) can be used to teach students the physiological effects of central hypovolemia in the absence of the LBNP and/or a medical monitor using a "dry lab" activity using LBNP data that have been previously collected. This activity was performed using published LBNP papers, with which students could explore LBNP as an important tool to study physiological responses to central hypovolemia as well as consider issues in performing an LBNP experiment and interpreting experimental results. The activity was performed at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences, New Delhi, with 31 graduate students and 4 teachers of physiology. Both students and teachers were provided with a set of questionnaires that inquired about aspects related to the structure of the activity and how this activity integrated research and knowledge, as well as aspects related to motivation of the students and teachers to perform the activity. Our results from student and teacher surveys suggest that a "dry lab" activity using LBNP to teach physiology can be an important tool to expose students to the basics of systems physiology as well as to provide useful insights into how research is performed. Providing insight into research includes formulating a research question and then designing (including taking into account confounding variables), implementing, conducting, and interpreting research studies. Finally, developing such an activity using LBNP can also serve as a basis for developing research capacities and interests of students even early in their medical studies.

LENTILS ,GENOTYPE-environment interaction ,PHYTIC acid ,PLANT breeding ,GENETIC models ,GENETIC variation - Abstract
Iron and zinc malnutrition is a global humanitarian concern that mostly affects newborns, children, and women in low- and middle-income countries where plant-based diets are regularly consumed. This kind of malnutrition has the potential to result in a number of immediate and long-term implications, including stunted growth, an elevated risk of infectious diseases, and poor development, all of which may ultimately cause children to not develop to the fullest extent possible. A determination of the contributions from genotype, environment, and genotype by environment interactions is necessary for the production of nutrient-dense lentil varieties that offer greater availability of iron and zinc with a high level of trait stability. Understanding the genotype and environmental parameters that affect G x E (Genotype x Environment) interactions is essential for plant breeding. We used GGE(Genotype, Genotype x Environment interactions) and AMMI (Additive Main effects and Multiplicative Interaction) models to study genetic stability and GE(Genotype x Environment interactions) for grain Fe, Zn, Al, and anti-nutritional factors like phytic acid content in sixteen commercially produced lentil cultivars over several different six geographical locations across India. Significant genetic variability was evident in the Fe and Zn levels of different genotypes of lentils. The amounts of grain iron, zinc, and phytic acid varied from 114.10 to 49.90 mg/kg, 74.62 to 21.90 mg/kg, and 0.76 to 2.84 g/100g (dw) respectively. The environment and GE (Genotype x Environment interactions) had an impact on the concentration of grain Fe, Zn, and phytic acid (PA). Heritability estimations ranged from low to high (53.18% to 99.48%). The study indicated strong correlation between the contents of Fe and Zn, a strategy for simultaneously increasing Fe and Zn in lentils may be recommended. In addition, our research revealed that the stable and ideal lentil varieties L4076 (Pusa Shivalik) for Fe concentration and L4717 (Pusa Ageti) for Zn content, which have lower phytic acid contents, will not only play an essential role as stable donors in the lentil bio-fortification but will also enable the expansion of the growing area of bio-fortified crops for the security of health and nutrition. To assess the risk of neonatal SARS-CoV-2 infection born to the women with confirmed SARS-CoV-2 infection. This prospective study was conducted at single tertiary hospital from September 2020 and May 2021. 50 pregnant women with confirmed SARS-CoV-2 infection and 50 neonates were included for analysis. We performed comprehensive testing of all biological samples for vertical transmission including the cord blood immunoglobulin. We detected SARS-CoV-2 in one fetal membrane and one amniotic fluid sample. We also demonstrated presence of anti-SARS-CoV-2 IgM antibodies in cord blood of 3 neonates. Though none of the samples of vaginal secretion, breast milk and nasopharyngeal swab from neonates were tested positive for covid infection via RT-PCR. We demonstrated presence of anti-SARS-CoV-2 IgG antibodies in the cord blood which had shown positive correlation with increasing disease to delivery interval and disease severity. Vertical transmission of SARS-CoV-2 is possible. As virus was not detected in cervicovaginal secretions and breast milk so vertical transmission through this mechanism seems unlikely. Presence of IgG in cord blood is suggestive of passive immunity acquired from mother. This finding has greater clinical implication as large number of expecting mothers are being vaccinated. Purpose: Socially ostracizing the gender minority groups and probing them with constant episodes of victimization experiences, progresses to various forms of minority stress. The hate-crimes projected against the trans people in India contribute largely to the mental distresses and other psychological repercussions. This study was conducted to address the antecedents and themes associated with the societal refutation and hate-crimes against trans identity and gender expression, resulting in their marginalization and exoticization. Design/Methodology: This study utilized thematic analysis as the method for data analysis. Transcripts from in-depth interviews of 20 gender-fluid participants were explored to arrive at the themes contributing to marginalization and exoticization among trans people. Findings: The main contributions of this study are: (1) Identification of various themes that are associated with stressors contributing to trans people minority stress. (2) Devising a staged model to highlight the factors that lead to their marginalization from mainstream society. The findings of the study that emerged from the narratives of the participants streamlined various antecedents and themes that refined the understanding of trans person’s marginalization and exoticization. Social Implications: The social implications of the study lie in fostering the understanding for underlying factors that provide impetus to the social discrimination, prejudice, and stigma for gender expression by trans people. This would limit the spectrum of discrimination and violence against the gender minorities. Originality/Value: This study is premised on exploring the factors that aid in progression of exoticization experiences, victimization, violence, and marginalization among trans people in India by navigating through their individual narratives. Objectives: To analyze risk of malignancy (ROM) in Bethesda categories (BCs) and the impact of noninvasive follicular thyroid neoplasm with papillary-like nuclear features (NIFTP) reclassification on malignancy risk and surgical outcome. Methods: In this retrospective study based on fine-needle aspiration samples with histologic follow-up, ROM was analyzed in BCs. Possible cases of NIFTP were reviewed, followed by the analysis of impact of this reclassification on ROM in BCs.Results: The incidence of NIFTP was 6.9% among excised thyroid nodules and 16.8% among all resected neoplastic lesions. ROM for BCs I to VI was 37.5%, 9.6%, 40.0%, 46.5%, 88.8%, and 96.8%, respectively. Risk of neoplasia was 50.0%, 13.8%, 55.0%, 71.2%, 88.8%, and 96.8% respectively. When NIFTPs were considered nonmalignant lesions, ROM decreased by 6.3%, 4.3%, 20%, 19.1%, 22.5%, and 1.5% in each Bethesda category (I-VI), respectively. Inability to diagnose NIFTP preoperatively led to overtreatment in 16.2%.Conclusions: Prevalence of NIFTP in Asian countries may be higher than expected. Substantial cases of NIFTP have a benign preoperative cytology; hence, cases of follicular adenoma and adenomatous colloid nodule should be included in the review. NIFTP reclassification has significantly reduced the ROM in indeterminate BCs, suggesting diagnostic lobectomy rather than total thyroidectomy. Countries should establish their own malignancy risk range and parameters. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]- Published

CONTINENTAL slopes ,RHYOLITE ,LIMESTONE ,SANDSTONE ,BRECCIA - Abstract
Soft‐sediment deformation (SSD) structures are the syn‐sedimentary structures that can form by seismic as well as non‐seismic processes. The SSD structures commonly occur in the Semri Group of the Vindhyan Supergroup in the Kajrahat Limestone, Chopan Porcellanite and Rohtas Limestone formations, and the Glauconitic Sandstone Member. The SSD structures include, slump folds, kink bands, chevron folds, convolute beddings, contorted cross‐beds, flame structures, pinch‐and‐swell structures, breccias, sagging structures, water‐escape structures, and dykes of varying dimensions. The lagoonal and tidal depositional environments of the Kajarahat Limestone Formation (not the continental slope environment) lead to suggest that the SSD structures formed as a result of the seismic activities in them. The SSD structures of the Chopan Porcellanite Formation associated with rhyolite might have originated as a result of volcanic activities or seismicity, while those occurring in the Glauconitic Sandstone Member (Kheinjua Formation) adjacent to the Son Lineament might have formed as a tectonics‐related seismicity. The convolute bedding with large lateral extent in the Rohtas Limestone Formation looks related to seismicity in the light of its deposition along the shelf. Thus, the upper Palaeo‐Mesoproterozoic Semri Group, Vindhyan Supergroup represents varieties of the SSD structures formed mostly by seismic processes. These imply that the Central India was unstable and was a place for tectonically controlled seismic events during the upper Palaeo‐Mesoproterozoic (1,700–1,600 Ma). [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

In Drosophila bipectinata female remating with respect to productivity and sperm displacement was studied by employing two mutant strains and a wild-type strain. The comparison of productivity between once-mated (control) and remated females revealed that the productivity of remated females is significantly higher than that of once-mated females in all the crosses showing increased productivity after remating. The P2' values (proportion of second male progeny produced after remating) were calculated to test sperm displacement in each cross of remated females, which range from 0.60 to 0.67 extending the evidence for sperm displacement in D. bipectinata.
