Programmable and non-volatile spin-based logic devices have attracted significant interest for use in logic circuits. Realization of logic operations via spin–orbit torque (SOT) driven magnetization switching could be a crucial step in the direction of building logic-in-memory architectures. In this work, we demonstrate experimentally, the realization of four logic operations in a heavy metal/ferrimagnet bilayer structure via SOT switching. We also propose a general scheme for choosing input parameters to achieve programmable logic operations. The bulk and tunable perpendicular magnetic anisotropy and relatively lower saturation magnetization in ferrimagnets are found to make them more energy efficient in performing logic operations, as compared to conventional ferromagnets. Thus, ferrimagnets are promising candidates for use in logic-in-memory architectures, leading to the realization of user-friendly spin logic devices in the future. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

As one of the most successful platforms of quantum control, trapped ions can be modulated by sequential microwave pulses to realize high-fidelity quantum logic gates, and dephasing noise may lead to invalidation of phase locking. In this work, we utilize the Dirac–Frenkel time-dependent variational approach with Davydov ansatz to simulate spin echo dynamics in the framework of spin-boson model. As the essential modulation parameters, pulse duration and waiting time have been comprehensively investigated to optimize the phase gates by two microwave pulses. We find that, as spin orientation undergoes periodic changes, the phase difference by acting one and two pulses exhibits spontaneous locking following time evolution, which indicates the robustness of the quantum phase gates. The reversible quantum-flux-parametron (RQFP) is a reversible logic gate based on an energy-efficient superconductor logic family, namely, the adiabatic quantum-flux-parametron logic. The RQFP can perform logic operations in a thermodynamically reversible manner (i.e., without energy dissipation) in the quasi-static limit due to its logical and physical reversibility. Hence, it can be used for investigating the fundamental relations between information and thermodynamics from a circuit perspective. In the present study, we propose a reversible flip-flop (RFF) comprising an RQFP and investigate the minimum energy dissipation required for general information processing through numerical simulation using an RFF-based circuit. This circuit includes fundamental information processing (combinational logic, sequential logic, and data erasure) and can, thus, be used as a physical model for such an investigation. The numerical simulation of this circuit shows that both combinational and sequential logic operations can be conducted without energy dissipation in the quasi-static limit and that the amount of erased data determines the minimum energy dissipation. These results indicate that general information processing can be conducted in a thermodynamically reversible manner by using RQFP circuits as long as all data, including garbage outputs, are conserved. A numerical model for a spin wave delay-line active ring resonator is presented. Spin wave dynamics along a one-dimensional strip of magnetic material are modeled using the nonlinear Schrödinger equation. The equation is solved numerically in Fourier space using the fourth-order Runge–Kutta method and yields qualitative agreement with experimental measurements of spin wave dynamics in two different regimes. The model provides a useful tool for performing experiments based on neuromorphic computing and logic gates in traveling spin wave devices. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The recent progress in quantum computing and space exploration led to a surge in interest in cryogenic electronics. Superconducting devices such as Josephson junction, Josephson field effect transistor, cryotron, and superconducting quantum interference device (SQUID) are traditionally used to build cryogenic logic gates. However, due to the superconducting nature, gate-voltage-based control of these devices is extremely difficult. Even more challenging is to cascade the logic gates because most of these devices require current bias for their operation. Therefore, these devices are not as convenient as the semiconducting transistors to design logic gates. Here, to overcome these challenges, we propose a ferroelectric SQUID (FeSQUID) based voltage-controlled logic gates. FeSQUID exhibits two different critical current levels for two different voltage-switchable polarization states of the ferroelectric. We utilize the polarization-dependent (hence, voltage-controllable) superconducting to resistive switching of FeSQUID to design Boolean logic gates such as Copy, NOT, AND, and OR gates. The operations of these gates are verified using a Verilog-A-based compact model of FeSQUID. Finally, to demonstrate the fanning out capability of FeSQUID-based logic family, we simulate a two-input XOR gate using FeSQUID-based NOT, AND, and OR gates. Together with the ongoing progress on FeSQUID-based non-volatile memory, our designed FeSQUID-based logic family will enable all FeSQUID-based cryogenic computer, ensuring minimum mismatch between logic and memory blocks in terms of speed, power consumption, and fabrication process. A memristor is a two-terminal electrical component with the scope of future computing applications and analog electronics. In this report, bismuth sulfide decorated one-dimensional carbon nitride nanotube was synthesized and characterized with various analytical techniques. The electrical property of the synthesized material was measured using a two-terminal metal–insulator–metal type of device that exhibited the resistive switching characteristics with the ON to OFF ratio of 2 × 103. The electron transport mechanism of the device was followed by Schottky emission and Poole–Frenkel emission for a low conductance state and Ohmic conduction behavior at the high conductance state. A decrease in the trap depth was identified in the simulation study with increasing applied potential and that supported the proposed mechanism. Read endurance and retention behavior of the device are stable in nature, supported by the statistical analysis. Furthermore, a hybrid logic gate was designed using two identical memristors, one CMOS inverter, one resistor, one voltage divider, and a buffer gate. Micromagnetic simulations have been used to create reversible logic gates that utilize magnetic skyrmions as input and output signals. The geometrical design of the logic devices consists of a two-dimensional assembly of ferromagnetic nanotracks, resembling rectangular grooves. Drawing an analogy to the billiard-ball model, this study takes into account elastic collisions between magnetic skyrmions and introduces the concept of control skyrmion. The application of spin-polarized currents to the system induces the motion of magnetic skyrmions along the nanotracks. The synchronized movement of magnetic skyrmions across the operational logic gates, required for their interaction, is achieved by incorporating multiple triangular magnetic notches along the nanotracks. Short polarized current pulses are then applied through the logic gates to facilitate this process. We have successfully implemented the XOR/AND and Full Adder logic gates as well as the reversible Toffoli and Peres logic gates using skyrmion-based architectures for computing. Magnetic skyrmion is a promising information carrier for its low critical driven current density, topological stability, and small size, which has been proposed for various devices such as racetrack memory and logic gates. However, the skyrmion Hall effect originating from Magnus force leads to transverse motion, which hinders the development of skyrmionic device applications. Here, we propose artificial tracks built by standing surface acoustic waves (SSAWs) to suppress the skyrmion Hall effect through micromagnetic simulations. We systematically study the dynamics of an isolated skyrmion under SSAWs and driven currents in a prototype of the ferromagnetic skyrmion system. The skyrmion Hall angle changes from 80° to 0°, where the skyrmion motion is along the driven current. An analytical model considering magnetoelastic energy induced by SSAWs is developed, and a linear relation between the current density and the critical SSAW amplitude to eliminate the skyrmion Hall effect is achieved. Furthermore, a reconfigurable multichannel skyrmion racetrack is constructed through the change of SSAW wavelengths. Owing to the advanced fabrication technology of silicon, silicon waveguides are particularly attractive for implementing all-optical signal processing devices and switches. Therefore, in this paper, a silicon-on-silica waveguide that consists of four slots arranged in the shape of letter E is proposed to be employed as the building block for simulating fundamental all-optical logic gates (AOLGs), including XOR, AND, OR, NOT, NOR, NAND, and XNOR, at 1.55 μm telecommunications wavelength. The operation concept of these logic gates relies on the constructive and destructive interference that results from the phase difference induced by optical beams that are incident on the E-shaped waveguide. The performance of the target logic gates is assessed against the contrast ratio (CR) metric. Moreover, the dependence of the spectral transmission on the device's key operating parameters is investigated and assessed. Compared to other reported designs, the results obtained by conducting simulations using the finite-difference-time-domain in lumerical commercial software show that the proposed waveguide can operate at a higher speed of 80 Gb/s and attain higher CRs of 36, 39, 35.5, 28.8, 30, 38, and 36.7 dB for logic XOR, AND, OR, NOT, NOR, NAND, and XNOR, respectively. This suggests that by using the proposed scheme, AOLGs could be realized more feasibly with greater performance and faster operation toward satisfying the present and future needs of light wave circuits and systems. We propose a scheme to investigate the spatial modulation of the refractive index in a dense atomic ensemble under the action of the Laguerre–Gaussian (LG) beams. Theoretical derivations based on a density-matrix approach associated with numerical simulations are utilized to study the behaviors of the index of refraction, showing that the azimuthal and radial mode indices (i.e., l 2 and p 2) of the LG beams significantly affect the real and imaginary parts of the refractive index. To be specific, the number of the dispersive peaks is determined by (p 2 + 1) | l 2 | , and there are 2 | l 2 | lossless petals in conjunction with p 2 concentric absorption rings centered on the vortex center. Furthermore, by tuning the phase values of the electric and magnetic components of the electromagnetic field, the index of refraction can be drastically tuned from negative to zero to positive and accompanied by periodic absorption and amplification. This investigation provides a powerful tool for manipulating the index of refraction through a nonlinear interaction between atoms and the vortex beams and suggests potential applications in optical switching, logic gates, and optical storage with spatially varying refractive indices. Swirling spin configurations with a non-trivial topological state are popularly known as magnetic skyrmions. They are often observed in magnetic thin films with perpendicular magnetic anisotropy and Dzyaloshinskii–Moriya interaction (DMI). Due to their small size and non-collinear spin texture, they are being considered as a potential candidate for spintronic devices such as data storage devices, and logic-based devices. These skyrmions have distinct properties and interactions, that can be utilized to control their movement by applying an external electric current. In this work, we have successfully demonstrated the operation of skyrmion-based universal NAND and NOR logic gates. We have further performed arithmetic addition of two and three single-bit by using a half and full adder, fabricated based on the XOR and AND gates. We have observed that the presence of only uniform DMI is not enough to achieve all logic operations. The presence of a negative DMI at the edges is crucial in achieving proper logic operations. A rapid and effective strategy has been devised for the swift development of a Zn(II)-ion-based supramolecular metallohydrogel, termed Zn@PEH, using pentaethylenehexamine as a low molecular weight gelator. This process occurs in an aqueous medium at room temperature and atmospheric pressure. The mechanical strength of the synthesized Zn@PEH metallohydrogel has been assessed through rheological analysis, considering angular frequency and oscillator stress dependencies. Notably, the Zn@PEH metallohydrogel exhibits exceptional self-healing abilities and can bear substantial loads, which have been characterized through thixotropic analysis. Additionally, this metallohydrogel displays injectable properties. The structural arrangement resembling pebbles within the hierarchical network of the supramolecular Zn@PEH metallohydrogel has been explored using FESEM and TEM measurements. EDX elemental mapping has confirmed the primary chemical constituents of the metallohydrogel. The formation mechanism of the metallohydrogel has been analyzed via FT-IR spectroscopy. Furthermore, zinc(II) metallohydrogel (Zn@PEH)-based Schottky diode structure has been fabricated in a lateral metal–semiconductor-metal configuration and it's charge transport behavior has also been studied. Notably, the zinc(II) metallohydrogel-based resistive random access memory (RRAM) device (Zn@PEH) demonstrates bipolar resistive switching behavior at room temperature. This RRAM device showcases remarkable switching endurance over 1000 consecutive cycles and a high ON/OFF ratio of approximately 270. Further, 2 × 2 crossbar array of the RRAM devices were designed to demonstrate OR and NOT logic circuit operations, which can be extended for performing higher order computing operations. These structures hold promise for applications in non-volatile memory design, neuromorphic and in-memory computing, flexible electronics, and optoelectronic devices due to their straightforward fabrication process, robust resistive switching behavior, and overall system stability. The ability to modulate the polarity of carrier transport and photo‐response in assembled heterostructure devices remains a huge challenge for the development of multifunctional optoelectronics. Herein, a polarity‐switchable and polarization‐sensitive photodetector is developed based on a van der Waals (vdW) MoTe2/GeSe/MoS2 sandwich heterostructure. By varying the gate voltage, an anti‐bipolar transfer characteristic is obtained with significant peak‐valley current ratio (PVCR) exceeding 104, showing the extraordinary potential to realize electronic functions in logic circuits. Under 635 nm laser irradiation, the device exhibits a gate‐controlled polarity transition of photocurrent, namely, the sign reversal of photocurrent occurs by changing the gate voltage. Furthermore, the device achieves broadband photovoltaic effect and high photodetection performance with responsivity (R) of 723 mA·W−1, noise spectral density (Sn) of 1 fA Hz−1/2, and specific detectivity (D*) of 2.3×1012 Jones in the absence of external bias, which greatly outperforms the MoTe2/MoS2 device. Leveraging the in‐plane anisotropic structure of GeSe, the device is also endowed with an additional capability of polarization‐sensing for linearly polarized laser, possessing a high polarization ratio (PR) value of 11.2. Thus, this work proposes an effective and facile strategy to realize the gate‐modulated polarity transition and polarization‐sensitive photodetection, offering a broad perspective for multifunctional integrated applications. This study introduces a simple memristor cellular neural network structure, a minimalist configuration with only two cells, designed to concurrently address two logic problems. The unique attribute of this system lies in its adaptability, where the nature of the implemented logic gate, be it AND, OR, and XOR, is determined exclusively by the initial states of the memristors. The memristors' state, alterable through current flow, allows for dynamic manipulation, enabling the setting of initial conditions and consequently, a change in the circuit's functionality. To optimize the parameters of this dynamic system, contemporary machine learning techniques are employed, specifically gradient descent optimization. Through a case study, the potential of leveraging intricate circuit dynamics is exemplified to expand the spectrum of problems solvable with a defined number of neurons. This work not only underscores the significance of adaptability in logical circuits but also demonstrates the efficacy of memristive elements in enhancing problem‐solving capabilities. [Display omitted] In this work, we report the design and fabrication of self-powered binary response PDs based on II-type heterostructures consisting of SnS x nanoflakes (NFs) and rutile TiO 2 nanorod arrays (NRs). The TiO 2 NRs effectively block light with wavelengths below 400 nm from reaching SnS x. Under 385 nm light, the photoelectrons in TiO 2 recombine with holes in SnS x at the interface due to the energy band bending, resulting in a positive photocurrent. Under 410 nm light, the photoelectrons in SnS x and the photogenerated holes in TiO 2 accumulate at the interface, overcoming the interfacial potential barriers induced by the higher Fermi levels of SnS x and inducing a negative photocurrent. Based on the bipolar response, the dual-band imaging capability without external filters and the light-encrypted OR, AND, and NOT logic gates using a single device are demonstrated. This work provides a blueprint for the development of multifunctional self-powered PDs that can simplify system architecture, reduce the energy consumption, and improve accuracy for applications, such as visual systems, light-controlled logic circuits, and encrypted optical communications. Quantum-dot Cellular Automata (QCA) is an emerging nanotechnology that explores the potential of using quantum effects to build compact and energy-efficient computational devices. The hardware attacks on QCA primarily target understanding the physical structure and operation of these nanotechnological circuits. The circuits like cryptographic processors hold sensitive data that needs protection from third-party attacks. Logic locking is a hardware protection technique that adds additional gates to the original circuits to prevent circuits from these attacks. In this work, a new logic locking approach is proposed for QCA based circuits. The new configurable logic gate or key gate is introduced for logic locking. This gate can be configured to either wire or inverter based on key gate inputs. Further, the metaheuristic optimization based optimal key gate placement algorithm proposed to achieve higher security with minimum key gate placement. The proposed approach is verified in QCA benchmark circuits using QCA-Designer. Results shows that the proposed achieves maximum security with minimal gate replacements. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

This paper presents novel power-efficient designs of quaternary logic gates like Quaternary Minimum (QMIN) and Quaternary Maximum (QMAX), Standard Quaternary Inverter (SQI), Standard Quaternary NAND (SQNAND), Standard Quaternary NOR (SQNOR) and Standard Quaternary XOR (SQXOR) using Carbon Nanotube Field Effect Transistor (CNTFET). The designs are based on Pass Transistor Logic (PTL) and use only three types of Carbon Nanotube (CNT) diameters 0.626 nm, 1.018 nm, and 2.27 nm, which lead to lower fabrication costs and enhanced manufacturability when compared to the state-of-the-art designs. The designs are simulated in HSPICE with a 32 nm CNTFET model provided by Stanford University, and the average power and maximum propagation delay obtained from the simulation results are compared with other existing designs. It shows that the proposed designs require 75% to 90% less power and they achieve 73% to 91% less Power Delay Product (PDP) than the latest designs. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

[Display omitted] Developing low-power FETs holds significant importance in advancing logic circuits, especially as the feature size of MOSFETs approaches sub-10 nanometers. However, this has been restricted by the thermionic limitation of SS , which is limited to 60 mV per decade at room temperature. Herein, we proposed a strategy that utilizes 2D semiconductors with an isolated-band feature as channels to realize sub-thermionic SS in MOSFETs. Through high-throughput calculations, we established a guiding principle that combines the atomic structure and orbital interaction to identify their sub-thermionic transport potential. This guides us to screen 192 candidates from the 2D material database comprising 1608 systems. Additionally, the physical relationship between the sub-thermionic transport performances and electronic structures is further revealed, which enables us to predict 15 systems with promising device performances for low-power applications with supply voltage below 0.5 V. This work opens a new way for the low-power electronics based on 2D materials and would inspire extensive interests in the experimental exploration of intrinsic steep-slope MOSFETs. Recent studies have shown that active colloidal motors using enzymatic reactions for propulsion hold special promise for applications in fields ranging from biology to material science. It will be desirable to have active colloids with capability of computation so that they can act autonomously to sense their surroundings and alter their own dynamics. It is shown how small chemical networks that make use of enzymatic chemical reactions on the colloid surface can be used to construct motor‐based chemical logic gates. The basic features of coupled enzymatic reactions that are responsible for propulsion and underlie the construction and function of chemical gates are described using continuum theory and molecular simulation. Examples are given that show how colloids with specific chemical logic gates, can perform simple sensing tasks. Due to the diverse functions of different enzyme gates, operating alone or in circuits, the work presented here supports the suggestion that synthetic motors using such gates could be designed to operate in an autonomous way in order to complete complicated tasks. Attribute-based encryption is a new cryptographic primitive that supports fine-grained access control of cloud data, and its access control function relies on the interaction of attributes and access structures. To achieve more flexible access control, attribute revocation has become an important problem that must be considered in the application process of attribute-based encryption. We propose and implement an efficient revocable ciphertext policy attribute-based encryption scheme based on the improvement of the scheme proposed by Tomida et al. Our scheme has the following characteristics: (1) It is adaptively secure under the Matrix Decisional Diffie–Hellman assumption; (2) it supports the multi-use of attribute classes and the negation of attribute values; (3) it supports the revocation of system attributes; and (4) the update of the key and ciphertext is completed by the trusted center and the cloud server, respectively, thereby decreasing revocation overhead for users. Due to its powerful brain‐like parallel computing and efficient data processing capabilities, memristors are considered to be the core components for building the next generation of artificial intelligence systems. In this study, the CeOx/WOy heterojunction is employed as the functional layer, and various metal materials are utilized as the top electrode to fabricate the memristor. The results indicate that the memristive performance of the Ag/CeOx/WOy/ITO device can be improved by using Ag as the top electrode. By studying the conductivity mechanism of the device, a conductivity model is established that regulates oxygen vacancies and Ag conductive filaments. Furthermore, using the as‐prepared memristor, it is constructed four basic digital logic circuits: OR, AND, XOR, and XNOR, as well as a half adder and a full adder that can be used for digital arithmetic operations. Specifically, an odd/even checker is developed based on XOR and XNOR logic circuits to verify the correctness of data transmission. Finally, it is also designed and implemented a cryptographic array based on a memristor, which can be applied to encrypt and decrypt a series of numbers and images. Introducing soft materials with deformability and flexibility into mechanical switches may help to develop new types of soft mechanical switches with special properties such as reconfigurable characteristics and parallel computing. However, recently developed soft mechanical switches still have low on/off ratio, slow response time, and insufficient durability. Here, a soft mechanical switch based on liquid metal and a zigzag structure is constructed through strain engineering strategy with high on/off ratio (R/R0 > 107), short response time (~0.2 s), long‐term durability (> 2000 times), and self‐healing performance which is outstanding than the reported ones. With the switch, a mechanical unit is designed and all types of logic gates can be constructed by programming switches. The concept of a lab-on-a-molecule, which was proposed just short of two decades ago, has captured the imagination of scientists. From originally being proposed as an AND logic gate driven by three chemical inputs as a direct way of detecting congregations of chemical species, the definition of what constitutes a lab-on-a-molecule has broadened over the years. In this review, molecules that can detect multiple analytes by fluorescence, among other techniques, are reviewed and discussed, in the context of molecular logic and multi-analyte sensing. Hydrogels are an attractive category of biointerfacing materials with adjustable mechanical properties, diverse biochemical functions, and good ionic conductivity. Despite these advantages, their application in electronics has been restricted because of their lack of semiconducting properties, and they have traditionally only served as insulators or conductors. We developed single- and multiple-network hydrogels based on a water-soluble n-type semiconducting polymer, endowing conventional hydrogels with semiconducting capabilities. These hydrogels show good electron mobilities and high on/off ratios, enabling the fabrication of complementary logic circuits and signal amplifiers with low power consumption and high gains. We demonstrate that hydrogel electronics with good bioadhesive and biocompatible interface can sense and amplify electrophysiological signals with enhanced signal-to-noise ratios. Sodium (E)-3-hydroxy-4-((2-hydroxynaphthalen-1-yl)diazenyl)naphthalene-1-sulfonate (Calcon, CAL), is employed for the first time as a reversible colorimetric chemosensor to detect and measure Ce3+ and H2PO4- sequentially in the aqueous medium. The detection process has two steps. The interaction of CAL and Ce3+ in the first step with a noticeable color shift from purple to blue. Further, the reaction between CAL-Ce3+ and H2PO4- shows a clear color return from blue back to initial purple similar to that for CAL. The UV-visible examination of this color return reveals that H2PO4- removes Ce3+ and restores CAL content. The results showed that CAL and CAL-Ce3+ had a strong binding affinity and adequate detection limits for the Ce3+ and H2PO4-, respectively. For Ce3+, the linear range and detection limit are 1.20 × 10-6-1.02 × 10-4 and 2.0 × 10-7molL-1, while for H2PO4-, they are 2.0 × 10-7-8.7 × 10-6 and 3.0 × 10-8 molL-1. Finally, we measured these two ions in real samples using this methodology. Furthermore, the examination of the suggested receptor's logical behavior revealed that it can operate as a colorimetric chemosensor of the INHIBIT type, receiving chemical inputs and producing a UV-visible absorbance signal as the output. Digital Signal Processing (DSP) finds a wide range of applications in various fields, including telecommunications, audio and video processing, biomedical engineering, radar systems, and image processing. Previous DSP designs faced limitations in available processing power and computational resources. Insufficient processing power could result in slower execution times, an inability to handle complex algorithms, or limited capacity to process high-speed or large-scale signals. As the demand for minimal power consumption in DSP circuits continues to grow, reversible logic and quantum-dot cellular automata (QCA) have emerged as promising technologies due to their inherent ability to reduce energy loss. Within this landscape, the arithmetic and logic unit (ALU) plays a vital role in complex circuitry, serving as a key component in digital signal processing applications. However, challenges persist, including high quantum cost and the need to limit the number of cells in the ALU design. To address these challenges, our research aims to develop an efficient ALU by integrating reversible logic and QCA technology. Our focus will be on generating essential components, such as Feynman gates, Fredkin gates, and full adder circuits, which serve as foundational building blocks for reversible logic and QCA designs. These components will be combined to construct a comprehensive ALU capable of performing 20 different operations. Our implementation efforts will be centered around QCADesigner, with a specific emphasis on digital signal processing systems that prioritize energy efficiency and optimal utilization of occupied areas. [Display omitted] Based on the "ion-confined transport" strategy, supercapacitor-diodes and switchable supercapacitors as new ion-type devices have emerged with promising applications in fields such as smart grids, energy storage chips, ionic logic circuits, and neuromorphic computing. In this review, we first clarify the mechanisms of "ion-confined transport" strategies including pore confinement, interfacial confinement and field-effect confinement, and then comprehensively summarize the development of supercapacitor-diodes and switchable supercapacitors. Subsequently, building upon the physical principles of ion-confined transport in supercapacitors, the inevitable emergence of two new types of ion-type devices, supercapacitor-memristors and supercapacitor-chips, are predicted. Finally, open issues for novel supercapacitors with ion-confined transport properties are proposed, as well as their potential applications in multifunctional energy storage, next-generation information technology, and especially integrated energy electronics. There is a growing interest in inferring context specific gene regulatory networks from single-cell RNA sequencing (scRNA-seq) data. This involves identifying the regulatory relationships between transcription factors (TFs) and genes in individual cells, and then characterizing these relationships at the level of specific cell types or cell states. In this study, we introduce scGATE (single-cell gene regulatory gate) as a novel computational tool for inferring TF–gene interaction networks and reconstructing Boolean logic gates involving regulatory TFs using scRNA-seq data. In contrast to current Boolean models, scGATE eliminates the need for individual formulations and likelihood calculations for each Boolean rule (e.g. AND, OR, XOR). By employing a Bayesian framework, scGATE infers the Boolean rule after fitting the model to the data, resulting in significant reductions in time-complexities for logic-based studies. We have applied assay for transposase-accessible chromatin with sequencing (scATAC-seq) data and TF DNA binding motifs to filter out non-relevant TFs in gene regulations. By integrating single-cell clustering with these external cues, scGATE is able to infer context specific networks. The performance of scGATE is evaluated using synthetic and real single-cell multi-omics data from mouse tissues and human blood, demonstrating its superiority over existing tools for reconstructing TF-gene networks. Additionally, scGATE provides a flexible framework for understanding the complex combinatorial and cooperative relationships among TFs regulating target genes by inferring Boolean logic gates among them. In this paper, we propose a single photonic crystal structure to implement NOT/XOR/OR optical logic gates using interference phenomenon. The gates are designed as T-shaped waveguides. The filter rods used in the design enhance the contrast ratio by up to 82.25 dB compared with the existing designs reported in the literature so far, and provides a maximum bit rate of 1.567Tbps with a response time of 0.63 ps. The proposed design exhibits minimum power loss, and performance parameters are enhanced compared to existing reported works. Photonic logic gates emerged as a potential substitute for their traditional electronic counterparts due to quick speed, low power consumption, and compatibility with current optical communication networks. There is a rising demand for low-cost, high-information-capacity optical signal processing. The number of devices is limited of performing different Boolean functions using a single unit. In the current manuscript, six basic logic gates, including OR, XOR, NAND, AND, NOR, and XNOR, are implemented in a single unit utilizing all-optical silicon microring resonator. At first, three microring resonators are used to get the AND, XOR and NOR logic functions. Then, beam combiners are used to get the OR, NAND and XNOR functions from AND, XOR, and NOR functions. In MATLAB, the suggested design is numerically simulated to verify the functions at an operational speed of nearly 260 Gbps. The required pump power for switching is only 1.95 mW for microring resonator based switch which is very less comparatively. Also, some performance parameters like "extinction ratio", "contrast ratio", "amplitude modulation", "on–off ratio", and "quality factor" are evaluated. To design the circuit practically, optimized parameters of the circuits have been selected. The obtained values of "extinction ratio" and "contrast ratio" are 14.97 dB and 19.03 dB, respectively. The value of AM is 0.17 dB which is less than 1 dB. The on–off ratio of the MRR is 35.10 dB which is much higher than expected. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

mRNA medicines can be used to express therapeutic proteins, but the production of such proteins in non-target cells has a risk of adverse effects. To accurately distinguish between therapeutic target and nontarget cells, it is desirable to utilize multiple proteins expressed in each cell as indicators. To achieve such multi-input translational regulation of mRNA medicines, in this study, we engineered Rhodothermus marinus (Rma) DnaB intein to develop "caged Rma DnaB intein" that enables conditional reconstitution of full-length translational regulator protein from split fragments. By combining the caged Rma DnaB intein, the split translational regulator protein, and target protein-binding domains, we succeeded in target protein-dependent translational repression of mRNA in human cells. In addition, the caged Rma intein showed orthogonality to the previously reported Nostoc punctiforme (Npu) DnaE-based caged intein. Finally, by combining these two orthogonal caged inteins, we developed an mRNA-based logic gate that regulates translation based on the expression of multiple intracellular proteins. High leakage power consumption has become one of the main concerns of data security protection with CMOS device scaling. Spintronic technology is one of the efficient solutions to control circuit leakage power consumption by benefiting from its non-volatility property. Spintronic devices such as magnetic tunnel junctions (MTJs) are also compatible with CMOS transistors and suitable for designing hybrid MTJ/CMOS circuits. Hybrid MTJ/CMOS circuits can be used in many applications, such as logic-in-memory (LiM) and high-security structures. These circuits demonstrate enhanced data security compared to CMOS-based circuits by leveraging their non-volatile feature, making information leakage and data access more challenging. However, these circuits are not completely immune to attacks, and information can be revealed by potent power analysis attacks such as differential power analysis (DPA) and correlation power analysis (CPA). This paper investigates the resistance to side-channel attacks, especially DPA and CPA, for the magnetoresistive RAM (MRAM) and hybrid MTJ/CMOS AND, OR, XOR gates, hybrid MTJ/CMOS full-adder, and multiplexer circuits. Comprehensive post-layout simulation results using 40 nm TSMC CMOS technology, Monte-Carlo results, and values of normalized energy deviation (NED), normalized standard deviation (NSD)), and normalized power deviation (NPD) of PCSA-based MRAM indicate that the power consumption pattern remains constant in circuits with symmetrical structures in the reading phase even in the presence of inevitable process variation, so these circuits are resilient to power attacks and are competent for use in high-security applications such as hardware implementation of encryption algorithms. The spatial self‐phase modulation (SSPM) of phosphorus‐based nanomaterials is widely studied and developed as passive nonlinear photonic devices for applications in all‐optical switches, logic gates, information converters, etc. In this work, violet phosphorus quantum dots (VP QDs) are prepared and characterized in three different solvents, their SSPM is investigated, and their spatial asymmetric light propagation performances are demonstrated. It is shown that VP QDs prepared in three different solvents exhibit different bandgaps, mainly due to the interaction between the dangling bonds of VP QDs and functional groups in different solvents. The SSPM experiment characterizes the nonlinear optical response of solvent‐dependent VP QDs. It is found that VP QDs exhibit strong nonlinear optical effect and their nonlinear refractive indexes are comparable to other phosphorus‐based 2D materials. Unlike the previously reported principle of spatial asymmetric light propagation (i.e., a cascaded sample based on SSPM composed of nanomaterials with excellent nonlinear refraction and SnS2 with reverse saturation absorption), the spatial asymmetric light propagation performance based on SSPM is demonstrated using a cascaded sample of VP QDs with significantly different nonlinear optical response prepared in two different solvents. This work developed DNA amplifier logic gates (AND-OR, OR-AND, FAN-IN, FAN-OUT, and 4-bit square-root circuits) using a flap endonuclease 1 (FEN1)-catalyzed signal amplification reaction, for the fastest and compact DNA computing. Moreover, the logic circuit can use input strands with concentrations of less than 1 nM, which is more than 100 times lower than the input concentration of other DNA logic circuits, providing a promising methodology for constructing fast and compact DNA computations. Here, we report the results of strain-controlled spin-wave propagation regimes in a double-period multiferroic structure. It consists of an alligator-type magnonic crystal with a period of 250 μm and a piezoelectric layer, featuring a periodic counter-pin-type electrode system with a period of 125 μm. Employing microwave measurements, we acquired the transmission and dispersion of spin waves under various external electric field configurations applied to the piezoelectric layer. The formation of bandgaps in the magnon spectrum and the variation of the spin-wave transmission when altering the configurations of the external electric field are demonstrated. A finite element method reveals that the combination of the non-uniformity in the initial internal magnetic field of the magnonic crystal, which is caused by the presence of periodic alligator-type regions, together with elastic deformations, heightens the amplitude of the modulation of the internal magnetic field. Micromagnetic modeling has demonstrated that this modulation enhancement results in the variation of the spin-wave transmission at the frequency of the magnonic bandgap center of the magnonic crystal. The proposed design of the reconfigurable magnonic crystal creates a condition for the nucleation of the spin-wave bandgap, with further enhancement of the spin-wave reflection from the periodic grating induced by strain. Nucleic acid-based logic gates have shown great potential in biotechnology, medicine as well as diagnostics. Herein, we have constructed pH-responsive logic devices by utilizing HIV-1 TAR hairpins in combination with a thiazole peptide that exhibits turn-on fluorescence upon interacting with TAR RNA or DNA. Based on this, INHIBIT-AND and YES-INHIBIT-AND logic gates were constructed in parallel. The pH alteration leads to conformational changes of the hairpin structure, enabling the construction of a multi-reset reusable logic system which could be developed for in vitro sensing of the HIV-1 viral RNA. Fluidic logic circuits simplify system design for soft robotics by eliminating bulky components while enabling operation in a range of hostile environments that are incompatible with electronics but at the expense of limited computational capabilities and response times on the order of seconds. This paper presents a four-terminal fluidic transistor optimized for fast switching times, reduced component count, low unit cost, and high reproducibility to achieve complex fluidic control circuits while maintaining flow rates of liters per minute. A ring oscillator using three fluidic transistors achieves oscillation frequencies up to a kilohertz with full signal propagation, tolerating billions of cycles without failure. Fundamental processor circuits like a full adder and a 3-bit analog-to-digital converter require just seven transistors each. A decode circuit drives a high-resolution soft haptic display with refresh times below the human perception threshold for latency, and an electronics-free control circuit performs closed-loop position control of a pneumatic actuator with disturbance rejection, demonstrating the value across domains. The most important component of implementation of quantum systems is the quantum gate. Efficient implementation of quantum gates is an important challenge for the development of quantum computing. This research is one of the first approaches in the field of implementation of quantum gates by logic gates using crystal photonics. In this paper, a new structure of CNOT quantum gate is designed using two-dimensional photonic crystals and implemented using XOR logic gate. The overall size of this proposed structure based on photonic crystal with silicon rods is equal to 25 × 35 μm, and the response time is equal to 0.53 ps. The proposed structure offers small area and fast response time that makes it suitable for high-speed applications. A Janus layered metamaterial (JLM) operating in the terahertz (THz) region is proposed, which increases the direction dimension to manipulate the propagation of electromagnetic waves (EWs) through the introduction of nonlinear Kerr media. It achieves multi-scale multitasking with different logic gates and mode-switching biosensing, making a breakthrough on traditional single-function and single-scale THz devices. Due to the electro-optical effect, the liquid crystal (LC) is adjusted by the electric field, and the sharp transmission peak generated by the located defect mode resonance can be used to realize the forward scale logic product gate and the backward scale exclusive NOR gate. In addition, by locking the sharp transmission peak, the biosensing can have different detection ranges under the LC modulation. Therefore, when EWs propagate forward and backward, the mode switching of different biosensing categories with a glucose concentration of 300–550 g/l, creatinine concentration of 80.9–85.28 μmol/l, and the blood component in refractive index of 1.33–1.38 can be realized. The JLM proposed provides a possibility for the design of the chip-level compact optical integrated circuit and offers a new idea for multi-purpose biomedical detection, owning certain research value. Longitudinal waves propagate information about the stimulus in multiple dimensions, including the medium density and pressure. Pulses that reversibly cross a phase transition have a nonlinear response that resembles properties of neuronal signaling. This multidimensionality suggests that longitudinal pulses may be harnessed for in-materio computation, mimicking biological or artificial neural algorithms. To explore a feedforward physical neural network using longitudinal pulses, we demonstrate the implementation of (1) a complete set of logic gates, (2) classification of data, and (3) regression of a mathematical function. We construct solutions of the Yang–Baxter equation in any dimension by directly generalizing the previously found solutions for . We equip those solutions with unitarity and entangling properties. Being unitary, they can be turned into -qudit quantum logic gates for qudit-based systems. Ferrocene has a unique structure, i.e., a central iron atom neatly sandwiched between two cyclopentadienyl rings, which has revolutionized the chemists' views about how metals bind to organic π-systems. This structural arrangement leads to some fascinating chemical and photophysical properties. The last three decades, there were reports about receptor molecules that could be considered to perform simple logic operations via coupling ionic bonding or more complex molecular-recognition processes with photonic (fluorescence) signals. In these systems, chemical binding ('input') results in a change in fluorescence intensity ('output') from the receptor. It has been proven that molecules respond to changes in their environment, such as the presence of various ions, neutral species, pHs, temperatures, and viscosities. Since their first realization by de Silva, molecular logic gates have been intensively experimentally studied, with purely theoretical studies being less common. Here, we present the research that has been conducted on Molecular Logic Gates (MLGs) containing ferrocene and their applications. We categorized such systems into three families of MLGs: long-chain molecules (oligomers or polymers) that incorporate ferrocene, medium-sized molecules that incorporate ferrocene, and systems where ferrocene or its derivatives are used as external additives. Furthermore, MLGs including metal cations without the ferrocene moiety are briefly presented, while computational methodologies for an accurate theoretical study of MLG, including metal cations, are suggested. An easily synthesizable indole‐derived chromofluorogenic probe InNS has been demonstrated for recognition of trivalent metal ions (i. e. Al3+, Ga3+, In3+ and Fe3+). Both UV‐Vis and emission spectral studies have been employed to assess the cation sensing ability of InNS in semi‐aqueous medium. This probe exhibited a chromogenic response for these metal ions, and the related change was accompanied with the appearance of a new absorption near 376 nm. An obvious color change from pale yellow to dark yellow could also be noticed upon addition of the aforementioned metal ions to the probe's solution. Distinctively from the UV‐Vis analysis, the fluorescence behavior of InNS was completely different; it displayed a 'turn‐on' fluorescence response for only Al3+ among all the studied cations. The detection limit and the association constant (Ka) for Al3+ were determined to be 12.5 nM and 6.85×106 M−1, respectively. A potential 1 : 1 binding mode of Al3+‐InNS has been established based on Job's plot, 1H NMR and DFT analyses. The reversibility experiment was conducted using strongly chelating EDTA ion, and a corresponding logic gate has been devised. In terms of practical applications, the InNS has been utilized to detect Al3+ in human breast carcinoma (MCF‐7) cell lines displaying promising 'turn‐on' bioimaging experiments. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
