In modern office space, screen board is an important component of screen desk. At present, the rubber strips on the side of the screen are tightened manually. In this paper, an improved control system is proposed based on an rubber strip automatic tightening device for rubber strips on the side of office screen. The control system mainly controls the working process of rubber strip releasing, feeding, and pressing into the office screen board. In this paper, the system structure design, simulation experiment, experimental prototype construction, and rubber strip tightening experiments are carried out to verify the rationality of the design and implementation of control system for rubber strip automatic tightening device.

A tangible interaction projection tabletop system is developed for middle school experiments. The system supports both tangible interaction of physical objects, which are printe d by 3D printers, and finger pointing interaction on the tabletop. Object textures, as well as invisible experiments phenomena, which cannot be easily observed in real experiments (e.g. magnetic induction line), are projected by projectors. Compared with completely virtual experiments, the system has natural and tangible experimental operations. Compared with real experiments, the system can enhance the display of objective phenomena which are difficult to be observed in real experiment.

We are developing the Delta framework that aims to tackle big-data challenges specific to fusion energy sciences. Delta can be used to connect fusion experiments to remote supercomputers. Streaming measurements to distributed compute resources allows to automatically perform high-dimensional data analysis on a cadence that exceeds experimental schedules. Making data analysis results available before the next experiments allows scientists to make more informed decisions about configuration of upcoming experiments. Here we describe how Delta uses database and virtualization facilities, as well as high-performance computing, at the National Energy Research Compute Center to offer a vertically integrated near real-time data analysis and visualization. We also report on ongoing efforts to port the data analysis part of Delta to graphical processing units, which show a reduction of the analysis wall-time for a benchmark workflow by about 35% when compared to a serial implementation.

This work presents a workflow for simulating and processing the full-scale low-frequency telescope data of the Square Kilometre Array (SKA) Phase 1. The SKA project will enter the construction phase soon, and once completed, it will be the world’s largest radio telescope and one of the world’s largest data generators. The authors used Summit to mimic an endto-end SKA workflow, simulating a dataset of a typical 6 hour observation and then processing that dataset with an imaging pipeline. This workflow was deployed and run on 4,560 compute nodes, and used 27,360 GPUs to generate 2.6 PB of data. This was the first time that radio astronomical data were processed at this scale. Results show that the workflow has the capability to process one of the key SKA science cases, an Epoch of Reionization observation. This analysis also helps reveal critical design factors for the next-generation radio telescopes and the required dedicated processing facilities.

With the popularization of smartphones, the technology of moving human behavior recognition utilizing smartphones has drawn wide attention of scholars. However, due to the limited computing power of smartphones, it is difficult for them to stably run recognition systems with highly complex. In addition, when a behavior switches, the transitional action is also difficult to recognize. To address these defects, this paper first proposes a feature extraction method using gait periodicity to extract characteristics of moving human behavior quickly and effectively. Secondly, a recognition framework combining SVM and the D-S evidence theory is proposed to recognize transitional action. A series of experiments and their results show that the both proposed methods can improve accuracy rate of moving human behavior recognition to 95.5%.

With the growing computational complexity of science and the complexity of new and emerging hardware, it is time to re-evaluate the traditional monolithic design of computational codes. One new paradigm is constructing larger scientific computational experiments from the coupling of multiple individual scientific applications, each targeting their own physics, characteristic lengths, and/or scales. We present a framework constructed by leveraging capabilities such as in-memory communications, workflow scheduling on HPC resources, and continuous performance monitoring. This code coupling capability is demonstrated by a fusion science scenario, where differences between the plasma at the edges and at the core of a device have different physical descriptions. This infrastructure not only enables the coupling of the physics components, but it also connects in situ or online analysis, compression, and visualization that accelerate the time between a run and the analysis of the science content. Results from runs on Titan and Cori are presented as a demonstration.

One of the core issues across computer and computational science today is adapting to, managing, and learning from the influx of "Big Data". In the commercial space, this problem has led to a huge investment in new technologies and capabilities that are well adapted to dealing with the sorts of human-generated logs, videos, texts, and other large-data artifacts that are processed and resulted in an explosion of useful platforms and languages (Hadoop, Spark, Pandas, etc.). However, translating this work from the enterprise space to the computational science and HPC community has proven somewhat difficult, in part because of some of the fundamental differences in type and scale of data and timescales surrounding its generation and use. We describe a forward-looking research and development plan which centers around the concept of making Input/Output (I/O) intelligent for users in the scientific community, whether they are accessing scalable storage or performing in situ workflow tasks. Much of our work is based on our experience with the Adaptable I/O System (ADIOS 1.X), and our next generation version of the software ADIOS 2.X [1].

This paper deals with the fault detection and estimation scheme for a class of nonlinear systems. An adaptive observer is designed where the unknown nonlinear term can be approximated and the fault is estimated based on radial basis function (RBF) neural network, respectively. The stability of the designed observer is also proved. Finally, simulation results based on an aircraft are presented to evaluate the performance of the proposed observer and the effectiveness of the fault estimation.

Reliable estimation of regional evapotranspiration remains as a challenge. In our study, based on a nonparametric evapotranspiration approach, a retrieval algorithm using the MODIS products and climate drive datasets was proposed to retrieve evapotranspiration, in terms of latent heat flux (LE) over a semi-arid region under all sky. Surface observations were regarded as the validation references, which were obtained from six eddy-covariance sites with land covers of desert, Gobi, village, orchard, vegetable and wetland. Our results showed that the distribution of retrieved LE matched well with the desert-oasis ecosystems. And the accuracy of instantaneous LE retrievals varied with sites with a R2 from 0.19 to 0.63, a bias from −129.46 W/m2 to 56.73 W/m2, a relative error from 5.23% to 29.18%, and a RMSE from 95.44 W/m2 to 150.29 W/m2. The validation supports the applicability of the algorithm in the arid/semi-arid region.

Many Intel PRC customers worked on low-cost solutions in server platforms. This paper introduced a method to investigate dual strip line performance on high-speed interfaces like DDR and PCIe. Through a practical design on an Intel Haswell-EP server platform in Huawei, we achieved 4-PCB-layer reduction compared to the original board, saving system bill-of-material cost effectively. Pre- and post-layout simulations were performed to evaluate design risks on signal integrity and power integrity. The electrical validations on board proved the comparable system performance of the low-cost design with the original board and Intel customer reference board, correlating to simulation results as well.

Among the OFDM synchronization algorithms, the algorithm based on repeated structured training sequence is widely used because of its simple structure and high accuracy of frequency estimation. An implementation method of OFDM timing synchronization with repeated-structured training sequence is presented in this paper, which uses FPGA as a hardware platform. There are three parts in this design. The first part includes the implementation of m sequence generator module and FIFO module used to construct the training sequence. The second one is used to add the training structure generation in front of the Data symbol frame and to insert noise sequence in front of training symbol. The last part is used to find the position of the timing synchronization. We execute all of these designs by coding in Verilog-HDL and using IP Cores supplied by Xilinx ISE 13.3 software platforms. At last, all these circuits are downloaded to FPGA development board ML-605 based on XC6VLX240T-1FF1156 chip of Xilinx. Experiment results show that the timing position fall in the range of the cyclic prefix (CP) sequence, which indicates correctness and validity of the scheme designed.

In the frame generation model of AOS two-layer multiplexing technology, transmission efficiency and throughput performance of the system are influenced by buffer capacity and packet extracting time. Different from previous frame generation algorithms which are studied under infinite buffer and ignore packet extracting time, high efficient frame generation model which takes the packet extracting time into account under finite buffer is established. The buffer overflow probability is simulated under the model. The simulation results show that the model can describe the real frame generation process accurately.

This paper presents a GPU based Range-Doppler radar imaging algorithm. It is implemented in OpenCL, which is deemed to be the industrial standard in the field of heterogeneous computing. Intensive floating-point calculations, for instance, large-scale FFTs, are effectively parallelized in this algorithm. The performance is promoted by orders of magnitude compared with CPU based implementation. It is able to process the data in real time by a single GTX 280 GPU under a practical condition.

The gate-all-around (GAA) silicon nanowire transistor (SNWT) is considered as one of the best candidates for ultimately scaled CMOS devices. This paper discusses the process impact on nanowire LER/LWR, as well as the impact of 2D nanowire LER on performance variation and degradation. And it is found that SNWTs, which is immune to channel RDF(random dopant fluctuation), exhibit SDE-RDF which is enhanced by diameter-dependent annealing. In addition, the different impacts of the experimentally extracted variation sources in SNWTs on the threshold voltage and on current flucturation is discussed, as well as the variability impact on SNWT based SRAM cells compared with planar SRAM cells.

In this paper, a compact diode array model for Phase Change Memory (PCM) application is presented. From the diode array structure and numerical simulation result, a quasi-physical compact model is proposed by combining the classical diode equation and simplified bipolar device formulation. This model results in accurate calculation of different leakage current components with parameter setting. Furthermore, the presented model is an open model structure, and can be applied in different fabrication process with the parameter extraction. All these characteristics make it useful in further study of physical mechanism of carrier transmissions in order to illustrate the device physics of such an array diode device.

OBJECTIVE: A quantitative effect of the hypothermia treatment was made on the cranial-cavity deformation with the increasing intracranial pressure (ICP). METHORDS: Finite element software-ANSYS was used to construct a human cranial cavity model, and simulate the deformations with and without hypothermia treatment. RESULTS: The deformation of the cranial-cavity model with hypothermia treatment is 0.56% less on average than the results without hypothermia treatment. CONCLUSION: The influence of hypothermia on the cranial-cavity deformation should be considered in clinical situations.

We present a thin film on modified ceramic (TFoMC) technique in this work to achieve high-accuracy and high-uniformity design. The integrated passive devices (IPDs), including capacitors, inductors, band-pass filters and Baluns, are realized based on the proposed TFoMC technology. The IPD characterization results are close to the HFSS simulation, and reveal good in-substrate uniformity at the same time. To evaluate the TFoMC substrate performance, a WLAN front-end module (FEM) is designed and fabricated by integrating the IPDs, power amplifier (PA) die and switch die on the modified ceramic substrate. The FEM exhibits a 31-dB large signal gain with the power add efficiency over 10% in the pass band, and passes the spectrum mask specifications under 802.11b/g modulations. The error vector magnitudes of the FEM are 1.0 and 2.9%rms for 802.11b and 802.11g modulations, respectively. The IPD and FEM characterization results meet all the design requirements, indicating the excellent performance of the TFoMC substrate and making it as a promising candidate for the wireless-related applications.

We have developed a thin-film on modified ceramic (TFoMC) technology in this work to achieve high-density, high-accuracy and high-uniformity substrate technology for RF-related applications. Integrated passive devices (IPDs), including capacitors, inductors, band-pass filters and baluns, were realized based on the proposed TFoMC technology. The IPD characterization results were similar to the HFSS simulation results, and demonstrated good in-substrate uniformity. A WLAN front-end module (FEM) was designed and realized by integrating IPDs, power amplifier die and switch die on the modified ceramic substrate. The FEM exhibited a 31-dB signal gain in the pass band, and passed the spectrum mask specifications and error vector magnitude requirements under 802.11b/g modulations. The characterization results demonstrated the excellent RF performance of TFoMC substrate. Following JEDEC standards, thermal shock, high-temperature storage, unbiased damp heat and unbiased autoclave measurements were carried out to evaluate the reliability of the TFoMC substrate. The IPDs exhibited no performance degradation after the moisture and thermal stress tests indicating the excellent substrate reliability. IPDs fabricated on different types of silicon substrates using the same thin-film process were also characterized. The performance and cost of different substrate technologies for RF-related applications were evaluated.

In this paper, we have developed a Thin Film on Modified Ceramic (TFoMC) technology which provides not only a low-cost but also high-performance solution, especially for wireless local-area network (WLAN) related applications. To begin with, a warpage-controlled substrate model (WCSM) was developed and demonstrated to reduce/control the warpage and roughness of ceramic substrate, e.g., warpage is no more than 150 µm and average roughness is no more than 50nm respectively, which are the key requirements for thin-film processing on low-cost ceramic substrate, e.g., 96% alumina-based. Accordingly, a multi-layer thin-film structure could be fabricated on the low-cost ceramic substrate. The thin-film based passive components including capacitors, inductors, band-pass filters and baluns could be used for RF front-end module (FEM) related wireless applications. One key element is the thin-film-based integrated passive device (IPD). The characterization results of the fabricated IPD matched well with the HFSS simulation results, which demonstrated the good in-substrate uniformity. In order to evaluate the TFoMC substrate based technology, a WLAN FEM was designed and fabricated by integrating IPDs, power amplifier (PA) die and switch die on a modified ceramic substrate. The delivered FEM exhibited a 31-dB large signal gain with the power add efficiency over 10% in the pass band, and fulfilled the spectrum mask specifications under 802.11b/g modulations. The root-mean-sqaure (rms) error vector magnitudes of the FEM were 1.0% and 2.9% for 802.11b and 802.11g modulations respectively. The IPD and FEM characterization results met all the design requirements, indicating excellent performance of the TFoMC substrate and making it as a promising technology for the wireless-related applications.

The reliability of enhancement-mode AlGaN/GaN HEMTs fabricated by the fluorine plasma treatment technique was investigated by applying OFF-state and ON- state long-term high-electric-field stress. A moderate negative shift (-0.25 V) was observed in the threshold voltage after 288 hours of stress. This shift, however, can be eliminated with an enhancement/depletion dual-gate configuration which effectively prevents high electric field from influencing the fluorine plasma treated area.

We demonstrate a new planar fabrication technology for integrating enhancement/depletion (E/D) mode AlGaN/GaN HEMTs using fluoride-based plasma treatment techniques. The CF4 plasma treatment is used in two separate steps to achieve two objectives: 1) active device isolation; and 2) threshold voltage control for the E-mode HEMT formation. By using the planar process, the E/D-mode HEMTs are integrated on the same chip, and a direct-coupled FET logic inverter and a 17-stage ring oscillator are fabricated. Compared with the devices formed by standard mesa etching, the HEMTs by planar process have comparable DC and RF characteristics, with no obvious difference in device isolation. At a supply voltage of 3.3 V, the E/D-mode inverter shows an output swing of 2.85 V, with the logic low and logic high noise margins at 0.34 and 1.47 V. The fabricated ring oscillator yields an oscillating frequency of 159 MHz at a supply voltage of 4.5 V. After a 44 hrs thermal stress at 350degC, the devices show negligible change in DC and RF characteristics, indicating excellent thermal stability of the planar process

We demonstrated a viable technology for GaN-based integrated microsensors using the suspended GaN microstructures fabricated with GaN on patterned silicon technique. Fundamental characteristics of the GPS technique are investigated. Active devices (HEMT) were fabricated on the AlGaN/GaN cantilevers and qualitatively tested. The experiment shows that the HEMTs on cantilevers can effectively sense the change in the stress induced by deflections applied to the cantilevers
