This qualitative study analyzes the perceptions of future English teachers concerning the teaching of English for Specific Purposes (ESP) and the preparation to work in programs that promote the English language as an agent of internationalization in Brazilian universities. Data were collected from students’ participation in a webinar and in an online discussion forum. The results point to a gap in their pre-service training that disfavors their performance in English teaching contexts aimed at internationalization. Based on these conclusions, we present possibilities for improving internationalization practices and ESP teaching in the aforementioned training through the expansion of complementary academic activities, extension projects, internships and curriculum reformulation. This study addresses the manifestation of toxic masculinity on 55chan, an anonymous Brazilian internet forum. Events such as the Gamergate and the Suzano's Massacre, which were partially organized within anonymous forums, demonstrate how interactions in these spaces can result in large-scale problems. Evidence like this indicates the pertinence of exploring imageboards as platforms that shape hate speeches, as well as the subcultures that form around them. Faced with this, the research question is: how does toxic masculinity manifest in 55chan? The aim of this study is to characterize the toxic masculinity in 55chan. The methodological procedure used was a semantic analysis of 16 thousand posts from the aforementioned Brazilian anonymous forum, which were collected through an automated search that happened between December 2016 and January 2017. The results show that 55chan participants: 1) feel oppressed by stereotype of the "alpha" male, by women and society; 2) they consider themselves as a "failure", although they make use of strategies to change this condition (nofap/noporn/exercises); 3) objectify women and consider them perverse ('bitches", "shits") and irrational. It is concluded that the manifestation of toxic masculinity in 55chan takes on specific contours due to anonymity, the ephemeral nature of the discussion threads and the use of filters. This paper seeks to discuss the practices related to training Portuguese as an additional language (PAL) teachers developed by the Linguistic-Cultural Program for International Students (PLEI) at the Federal University of Paraíba (UFPB). This article describes the characteristics of the activities organized by the Program, considering the performance of the students-teachers in 2020-2021. The methodology consists in presenting an overview of the complexities regarding the training of PAL teachers, highlighting the intercultural, communicative and inclusive aspects. For this, we followed discussions based on Almeida Filho (2012, 2013), which aims to analyze the teacher training and the communicative approach involved in the PAL context, agreeing with Mendes (2020) on the need for culturally sensitive discussions in the teaching-learning process of this/in this area. As a result, it is pointed out the problems, the challenges and the distinct ways found to improve the PAL teaching at UFPB, as well as to pursue the IES Internationalization Policy through the relations among Extension, Teaching and Research. In summary, leading the student in initial training to understand the processes of teaching, learning how to teach, is of fundamental importance for his/her preparation as a PAL teacher. This article originates from research funded whose main objective was to understand the teaching practice in the classroom of engineering courses to transform it. The instrument for data collection that was used as basis for the discussions in this text was the printed questionnaire answered by the students and the online questionnaire answered by the professors. A total of one hundred people agreed to participate in this research stage, of which seventy-two were students and twenty-eight professors. For both professors and students, the main positive points in the professors' pedagogical practice of the engineering courses were methodologies and techniques adopted, professors' knowledge and professor-student relationship. This investigation highlights the importance of the methodologies and techniques adopted for the pedagogical practice and, also, highlights the need for its transformation to effectively contribute to the development of the necessary students' skills. This paper presents an analysis of the students' perception of a blended learning experience, designed, and applied in the basic disciplines of Physics 1 of 18 different courses at the University of Brasilia. An opinion survey, using a Likert-type scale, was designed, and used to assess the students' agreement degree with affirmative propositions related to the organization, learning potential, and quality of the evaluation system. The results showed good agreement with the presented propositions, and the importance of the positive role of the online forums in the learning process by promote student-student and student-monitor dialogic interaction. However, it also pointed out some needs, such as (a) interventions that can stimulate the inclusion of less proficient students; (b) activities that can influence this students on developing learning motivation; and (c) reflections on the rules of formative and summative assessments, transforming their punitive aspect into a mediation form in the composition of students' final grades. This article is an experience report of an online discussion group with the theme "Gender and Teaching", the result of an internship intervention form the Psychology degree, in the context of the Covid-19 pandemic in Brazil. The reflection turns to the discussion on the emptying of the group. For it, topics such as the challenges of establishing dialogue, the formation of bonds and the constitution of a group, the productive logic in academic formation in the current context and the difficulties of working with groups in an online environment are discussed. Based on these guidelines, it is stated that there was no effective consolidation of a work group. Even so, it is understood that the hypotheses raised to understand the phenomenon of group emptying can contribute to future studies on the subject, as this type of modality is a current phenomenon that demands better understanding for research in the field of human sciences. This article conducts a literature review to analyze and describe the possibilities of organization and collective action of workers in platform capitalism. The characteristics of on-demand work via apps and crowdwork create difficulties for workers to express their voice and to organize mobilizations, negotiations and strikes. On the one hand, there are collective action initiatives through traditional structures such as trade unions and cooperatives. On the other, a variety of articulations occur through other instruments, such as online forums, social networks and instant communication channels. The research addresses the transmission of knowledge carried out by postgraduate programs in the Interdisciplinary Area and aims to identify the means of transmission used by them. For this purpose, a questionnaire was applied to a non-probabilistic sample of 59 faculty members of postgraduate programs in the Interdisciplinary Area and the responses were analyzed using descriptive statistics and content analysis. It was identified that the scientific knowledge was indicated by the respondents with the greatest importance and the highest degree of transmission. Furthermore, eight means of transmission were indicated by more than half of the respondents as having a "High" or "Very High" degree of use for at least one audience. They are: "Scientific Journals"; "Research project"; "Dissertations and Theses"; "Study/Discussion Groups"; "Institutional Sites"; "Extension Events"; "Formal Conversations"; and "Didactic Materials". Despite this, only the first two means are included in four of the audiences considered ("Academic Teaching Community", "Academic Student Community", "Scientific Community", "Members Internal to PPG"), and in the remaining two audiences ("Labor Market" and "Society in General") no outstanding means of transmission have been identified. Finally, it is considered, based on the researched sample, that there is a weakness in the transmission of knowledge to the publics "Labor Market" and "Society in General", and it is suggested that future studies seek to deepen the understanding of how knowledge transmission occurs to them. School feeding has been considered as a linking mechanism between family farming production and food consumption, being a meeting point between public feeding and sustainable development. In this process, the operation of the Programa de Abastecimiento Institucional (PAI) within the scope of the Programa de Alimentación y Nutrición del Escolar y del Adolescente (PANEA) regain interest. The objective of this article is to analyze the main potentialities and limitations of the food supply process produced by agricultural families for school feeding in Costa Rica. A qualitative research was carried out with semistructured interviews and discussion groups with the participation of various actors involved in two pilot projects (2016-2018) of the Escuelas Sostennibles initiative in the towns of Frailes in Desamparados and Coto Brus. As a result, it is evident that the main limitations lie in the lack of mechanisms that provide differentiated treatment for food supply produced by local agricultural families. On the other hand, the potential experiences of the process are expressed in values that exceed the economic aspects, they are presented in sociocultural and ethical manifestations generated during the reception of food in educational centers, responding to the social market construction that characterize public purchases of food. Online discussion forums are important to promote the exchange of ideas and the construction of collaborative knowledge in virtual learning. Thus, the active participation of its users is required to the effectiveness of the learning process, as the diversity and synergy of knowledge creates a rich base for the users and, additionally, the participants can absorb the content more deeply, in creating it. In the virtual education context, one also should consider the increasing importance of the techniques of Artificial Intelligence (AI), as they enable the extraction of relevant information in environments which use a massive number of data, not easily tackled by traditional computation techniques. This work investigates how the scientific literature reports the use of AI to promote participation in online forums used in distance learning. We conducted a systematic review, and although we obtained a great number of results in the initial search, after a more detailed analysis, only 18 articles were considered relevant to this research. The following conclusion is that AI is still being underutilized as a solution for the problem of participation in educational forums, but if it is adequately explored, it has potential to provide an important contribution to the efficacy of this tool. This paper discusses the use of mobile technologies in Distance Education (EaD) processes. The goal was to analyze the potentialities of using the WhatsApp application as an environment for interactions when used as forum space and chat. The study was motivated by the importance of considering the use of digital technologies in/for education and thinking different possibilities for teaching pedagogical practice. In the two essays carried out: chat and forum, articles about teaching in EaD were discussed with students of a Post Graduate Degree Program like participants in this essays. The analyzes were carried out from theoretical studies on interaction with the use of mobile technologies and the possibilities of communication in the chat and forum spaces using Whatsapp. It was possible to consider the use of this comunication application as an important environment for communication, interaction and discussion of ideas, it was possible to be explored in teaching practice in EaD processes, increasing the possibilities of use in Education. This study investigated the influence of a virtual community on purchase decisions of its members. Messages posted by community members were analyzed to indentify categories related to influences on consumption decisions. Twenty one participants were then interviewed by telephone. The posted messages and interviews presented evidence of an existing code of behavior, suggesting that the community acts as a normative reference group with strong identification among participants. Those who participate more frequently in debates, who already had experiences related to the group interests, or who are believed to have good taste are considered as opinion leaders. Bioethics learning has mainly being developed in classroom activities. Without pretending to substitute this classical face to face model, bioethics discipline, taught to first year students at day and night courses in Dentistry Department of Sao Paulo University, has been complemented by supervised visits to Department Clinics, as well as on line studies using Moodle platform. In this study students' records of discussion forums in Moodle platform in 2008 were evaluated to verify their perception about the proposal of supervised visits to clinical practice during their learning process. 71 of 100 students who published comments in discussion forums accepted to participate in the study. This is a qualitative study carried out by thematic content analysis. Students' perceptions about clinical practice allow professors to enhance their practice as pedagogical strategy for future classes and this may serve as model for other institutions. The article analyzes the use of online discussion boards on Brasil's 2010 presidential elections, and evaluates the challenges and possibilities in this emerging public space. The analysis was based on the history of the communication channels; political communication, public spaces and political marketing. This article analyses the behaviour of journalists in a daily newspaper considering the graphic and editorial changes that provide tools for the on-line participation of the public. It intends to analyze the traditional productive routine that values the editorial decisions at newsroom, concerning the performance of gatekeepers and how journalists deal with challenges of convergence at newsroom, like the interaction at websites. This changes impel the adoption of new on-line graphic dispositions that are able to promote the participation of newspaper's public in different ways, like: trough windows designid to permit commentaries about stories and for suggestions, stimulating the gatewatching. Two collaborative forms of organizing dominate discussion of open participation and production on the Internet: a crowdsourcing model based on micro-participation from many, unconnected individuals, and a virtual community model, based on strong connections among a committed set of connected members. This paper argues that dimensions such as task interdependence, authority control, and group focus underpin behaviors associated with participation in such open systems, resulting in contributory behaviors that can be described at one end as 'lightweight', functioning by weak-tie attachment to a common purpose, enacted through authority-determined, rule-based contribution, and at the other end as 'heavyweight', operating through strong-tie affiliation with community members and community purpose, enacted through internally-negotiated, peer-reviewed contribution. Examination and articulation of these dimensions, and the resulting patterns of contributory behavior they engender, help reconcile peer production and virtual community approaches to online collaboration, explain motivational and structural aspects of new forms of collaborative production, and inform design for building and sustaining collective contributory systems. Online discussions between citizens have been subject to scholarly debate and several empirical studies for a substantial period of time. Scholars have envisioned these as potential venues for citizens' deliberation. Often, however, empirical findings do not support these notions. The quality of discussion is often not up to the standards of truly deliberative discussions. Nonetheless, there are strains of evidence suggesting that online discussion venues applying facilitators, fixed topics and actively enforcing discussion rules, may avoid many of the problems with discussion quality. This article therefore examines whether readers' comments on a Finnish newspaper's website resemble democratic conversations. During the course of three weeks in spring 2010, we content analyze 300 reader comments. Our findings indicate that although there are strains of democratic conversations to be found in online reader comments, there are also many instances in which the opposite holds true.
