Side weirs, also known as lateral weirs, are flow diversion devices widely used in irrigation as a head regulator of distributaries and escapes, land drainage, and urban sewage systems. The studies on the subject have been generally focused on rectangular and triangular side weirs located on a straight channel. However, the same is not true for labyrinth side weirs. The current studies deal with sediment transport and scour problems around side weirs and lateral structures. The investigation of the hydraulic effects of labyrinth side weirs to increase discharge capacity of them has been studied in this particular work. In the study, 2,830 laboratory tests were conducted for determining discharge coefficient of labyrinth side weirs, and results were analyzed to find the influence of the dimensionless weir length L/b, the dimensionless effective length L/l, the dimensionless weir height p/[h.sub.1], triangular labyrinth side weir included angle [theta], and upstream Froude number [F.sub.1] on the discharge coefficient, water surface profile and velocities in the channel along the side weir. It has been found that discharge coefficient of labyrinth side weirs gives pretty higher coefficient value compare to that of classical side weirs and a reliable equation for discharge coefficient of labyrinth weirs is presented. Discharge coefficient of the labyrinth side weir is 1.5-4.5 times higher than rectangular side weir. Organizational commitment is crucial in the serviceoriented hospitality industry. A service-oriented firm may achieve high quality service standards and customer satisfaction by employing qualified occupations. Employing qualified staff requires motivation and emotional organizational commitment. In addition, having a positive working ethical climate in the firm is crucial for profitability and productivity. Thus, hospitality businesses can achieve industrial competitiveness. The aim of the study is to determine the effect of the ethical climate on the emotional organizational commitment in the accommodation enterprises. The study addresses ethical climate scale developed by Victor and Cullen (1993) and emotional organizational commitment sub-scale developed by Meyer and Allen (1991). The survey data were obtained from a total of 340 participants who employ at six different 5-star hotels operating in Antalya. The first part of the questionnaire covers questions that determine the relationship between employees' organizational ethical climate perceptions and emotional organizational commitment. In the second part, there are questions asked to determine the demographic characteristics of the participants. The ongoing analyzes will be tested by structural equation modelling. Research result will be show positive relationships between positive ethical climate and emotional organizational commitment in accommodation enterprises. In addition, the study examines whether the emotional organizational commitment levels of employees differ or not according to sex, marital status, age, income level, education, study period and departments. The purpose of this paper is to determine the relationship between individual achievement motive and organisational innovativeness. This research is developed by using the Achievement Motive Theory. With this purpose, the data was collected from 839 employees working in different public organisations in Turkey. The factors which have been studied in the research are about achievement motive (independence, task related motivation, ambition, and self-confidence) and organisational innovativeness. According to the analysis results, the individual factors which positively affect the organisational innovativeness are ambition and self-confidence. The paper has tried to make clear the relationships between organisational innovativeness and personal characteristics. Side weirs are flow diversion devices commonly used in irrigation, land drainage and urban sewage systems. It is essential for hydraulic and environmental engineers involved in the design of side weirs to predict the discharge coefficient correctly. The aim of this study is to present an accurate equation for discharge coefficients along the bend of sharp-crested rectangular side weirs based on a total of 1504 experimental runs. The discharge coefficient of the rectangular side weir along the bend depends on the dimensionless parameters of Froude number in the main channel , the angle of bend curvature , the ratio of weir length to main channel width /, the ratio of weir length to radius of main channel centreline / and the ratio of weir height to upstream flow depth / . In particular, the variables / and / are not seen in any equation for a rectangular side weir located on a curved channel. However, it was found that these dimensionless parameters were significantly important for the overflow rate. Moreover, the equation in the literature needs interpolation in order to obtain the discharge coefficient for different / and values. Abstract: A labyrinth weir is an overflow weir, folded in plan view to provide a longer total effective length for a given overall weir width. The total length of the labyrinth weir is typically three to five times the weir width. In this study, a semi-elliptical labyrinth weir was used as a side weir structure. Rectangular side weirs have attracted considerable research interest. The same, however, is not true for labyrinth side weirs. The present study investigated the hydraulic effects of semi-elliptical side weirs in order to increase their discharge capacity. To estimate the outflow over a semi-elliptical side weir, the discharge coefficient in the side weir equation needs to be determined. A comprehensive laboratory study including 677 tests was conducted to determine the discharge coefficient of the semi-elliptical side weir. The results were analyzed to find the influence of the dimensionless weir length , the dimensionless effective length , the dimensionless weir height , the dimensionless ellipse radius , and upstream Froude number on the discharge coefficient. It was found that the discharge coefficient of semi-elliptical side weirs is higher than that of classical side weirs. This research explains the relationships among knowledge-based resources, market orientation, learning orientation and innovation performance. Data were collected from a survey of 135 firms operating in different industries in Turkey. The empirical study provides evidence on the existing relationship among these variables. Findings indicate that knowledge-based resources, learning orientation and market orientation have an important affect on innovation performance. However, knowledge-based resources mediated the relationship between learning orientation and innovation performance. Baffled chutes are commonly used in storm water systems, irrigation systems, canal wasteway systems, river training, and drops for energy dissipation. There is a close relationship between energy dissipation and oxygen transfer efficiency. Oxygen transfer across the air-water interface at a hydraulic structure occurs through self-aeration along the chute, and by flow aeration in the hydraulic jump at the downstream end of the structure. The oxygen concentration in surface water is a primary indicator of the water quality for human use and for the aquatic biota. This present study focused on predicting the aeration efficiency of baffled chutes. The variation of the aeration efficiency for stepped, wedge, trapezoidal and T-shaped baffle blocks was investigated in relation to chute angle, unit discharge, and chute height. The results obtained from this approach show that baffled chutes are effective for oxygen transfer. Thus, an empirical correlation predicting aeration efficiency was developed. This study aims to explore the influence of human resource management (HRM) activities and organizational climate on job satisfaction in Turkish banks. The study first examines the relative influence of eight HRM activities of: (i) behavior and attitudes (in recruitment and selection); (ii) teamwork; (iii) extensive training; (iv) written policies; (v) training in multiple functions; (vi) incentives; (vii) performance appraisal; and (viii) feedback on performance on job satisfaction. Second, the influence of six factors relating to organizational climate are examined, again from the view point of their influence on job satisfaction. The second group factors are: (i) support for innovation; (ii) managerial competence and consistency; (iii) workload pressure; (iv) cohesion; (v) organizational boundaries; and (vi) organizational ethics. The data collected through interviews from 346 employees from 19 banks show that in addition to the positive impact of HRM activities, organizational climate in particular makes a significant contribution to job satisfaction. The paper presents the influence of the two groups of factors on job satisfaction and the mechanisms through which these factors foster job satisfaction and their implications for practitioners. Abstract: A side weir is a hydraulic control structure used in irrigation and drainage systems and combined sewer systems. A comprehensive laboratory study, including 843 tests for the discharge coefficient of a sharp-crested rectangular side weir in a straight channel, was conducted in a large physical model under subcritical flow conditions. The discharge coefficient is a function of the upstream Froude number, the ratios of weir length to channel width, weir length to flow depth, and weir height to flow depth. An equation was developed considering all dimensional parameters for discharge coefficient of the sharp-crested rectangular side weir. The average error of the proposed equation is 4.54%. The present study data were compared with ten different discharge coefficient equations developed by several researchers.
