Oxygen atom transfer (OAT) from N 2 O to the Ni-H bond of proton-responsive picoline-derived CNP nickel complexes has been investigated both experimentally and theoretically. These Ni-CNP complexes efficiently catalyse the reduction of N 2 O with pinacolborane (HBpin) under mild conditions.

Bulky terphenyl phosphane ligands PMe 2 Ar' (Ar' = terphenyl group) facilitate the isolation of zero-valent bis-phosphane complexes of nickel, palladium and platinum. The former show coordination numbers greater than two in the solid state due to the existence of Ni-C arene interactions with the terphenyl fragment.

The dual activation of acyl phosphonates and formaldehyde tert-butyl hydrazone by a BINAM-derived bis-urea catalyst is the key to achieve high reactivities and enantioselectivities in the synthesis of densely functionalized quaternary α-hydroxy phosphonates. Subsequent high-yielding transformations in a 'one-pot' fashion provide direct access to valuable azoxy compounds and quaternary α-aryl-phosphaisoserines.

Electron deficient azides are challenging substrates in CuAAC reactions. Particularly, when N-carbonyl azides are applied the formation of N-carbonyl triazoles has not yet been observed. We report herein the first example of this class of reaction, with a copper-based system that efficiently enables the synthesis of N-carbamoyl 1,2,3-triazoles by [3+2] cycloaddition of N-carbamoyl azides and alkynes.

Diorganozinc compounds (ZnR2) with R = CH2Ph or CH2CH=CH2 react with 2,6-bisiminopyridines ((iPr)BIP) to afford thermally stable dihydropyridinate(-1) complexes, and do not react if R = CH2SiMe3 or CH2CMe2Ph. NMR studies reveal that dibenzylzinc binds (iPr)BIP at -80 °C, yielding the unstable complex [Zn(CH2Ph)2((iPr)BIP)]. Above -20 °C, this undergoes selective alkyl migration to the remote 4 position of the central pyridine ring.

New quadruply bonded dimolybdenum complexes of the terphenyl ligand Ar(Xyl(2)) (Ar(Xyl(2)) = C(6)H(3)-2,6-(C(6)H(3)-2,6-Me(2))(2)) have been prepared and structurally characterized. The steric hindrance exerted by the Ar(Xyl(2)) groups causes the Mo atoms to feature unsaturated four-coordinate structures and a formal fourteen-electron count.

We report the synthesis of the hitherto unknown zwitterionic alkoxyamino cyanoboranes by reduction of O-alkyloximes with sodium cyanoborohydride; unprecedented cyanoboronated N-alkoxyformamidines were also isolated as by-products. Well-defined dimeric or polymeric Pd(0) complexes [Pd(μ-(iPr)PCHP)](n) (n = 2 or ∞) containing the bridging ligand α,α'-bis(diisopropylphosphino)-m-xylene ((iPr)PCHP) are produced under mild conditions when the cyclometallated PCP pincer complex ((iPr)PCP)Pd-OH reacts with methanol or isopropanol.

The complex [Mo(4)O(16)(dmpz)(6)] (1) has been isolated as part of a study of oxodiperoxomolybdenum catalysed epoxidation of olefin substrates with hydrogen peroxide in ionic liquids. Notably, 1 is the first dioxoperoxomolybdenum species to be structurally characterised.
