O presente trabalho tem como objetivo compreender o perfil da Polícia Militar na cidade de Belém/PA, através das diferenças de atuação dessa agência, conforme a sua divisão de território. Após a exposição dos principais aspectos da atuação policial, primeiramente formais e depois subjetivos, o desenvolvimento culmina com as reflexões acerca dos principais aspectos dessa atuação, que se contradizem entre o discurso declarado da atuação e a prática real. Através do método indutivo para a abordagem e comparativo para os procedimentos, é possível compreender um perfil de atuação territorializado, que é direcionado e se distingue por marcadores sociais da diferença, aplicando-o às polícias de modo geral. As técnicas utilizadas para a execução consistem em levantamento bibliográfico e análise de conteúdo de entrevistas semiestruturadas realizadas com agentes que atuam nos bairros do Jurunas e da Batista Campos. Como parte das conclusões alcançadas, pode-se perceber a instituição policial como um instrumento de controle social de grupos marginalizados quanto a raça, classe e território, isolada ou conjuntamente, através da diferenciação da atuação policial conforme o bairro em que esta se localiza.

Introdução: A utilização da arma de fogo é uma tarefa fundamental na profissão de policial e a sua eficiência demanda uma ampla gama de capacidades da aptidão física que podem diminuir durante a carreira e impactar o desempenho. Objetivos: Analisar o perfil da aptidão física e do desempenho operacional em simulação de confronto armado avaliadas através do teste de aptidão física e do Método Giraldi®, e identificar quais as suas associações durante a carreira de policiais militares do estado de São Paulo. Materiais e Métodos: Adotou-se um desenho observacional de delineamento transversal a partir de uma amostra não probabilistica de policiais do sexo masculino que exercem funções no programa de Rádio Patrulha. Resultados: Durante a carreira dos policiais ocorre uma diminuição da capacidade aeróbica, capacidade anaeróbica, resistência muscular e força muscular e uma manutenção no desempenho operacional em simulação de confronto armado, sendo que esta tarefa correlaciona-se fracamente apenas com a força de membros superiores mensurada pelo teste de flexão de braços no solo. Conclusão: Evidencia-se que durante a carreira dos policiais existe um período específico para a diminuição de cada uma das capacidades da aptidão física, e que, independente destas alterações, os resultados do desempenho operacional em simulação de confronto armado permanecem inalterados por existir apenas associações fracas com a força de membros superiores.

A promoção da saúde mental do policial militar importa à Polícia Militar do estado do Piauí e a toda a comunidade, uma vez que o policial militar saudável tem muito mais a contribuir com a sociedade e com o Estado. Nesse sentido, o objetivo deste estudo é desenvolver o programa “Política de saúde mental voltada para o acompanhamento psicológico dos policiais militares envolvidos em ocorrências de grande vulto”, analisando as oportunidades e os riscos à implementação da nova proposta de valor criada. Para alcançar sua finalidade, realizou-se um estudo exploratório e qualitativo por meio de pesquisa documental. Os dados foram coletados em documentos institucionais fornecidos pelo Centro de Assistência Integral à Saúde (CAIS), da Polícia Militar do Piauí (PMPI), no site da PMPI, bem como em bancos de dados online reconhecidos pela comunidade científica. A análise foi realizada com a utilização de ferramentas da gestão, com fundamento na estratégia do Oceano Azul (Kim; Mauborgne, 2005). Os achados evidenciam os avanços e desafios enfrentados pelo CAIS, permitindo uma melhor compreensão em relação às suas políticas de saúde mental, bem como contribui para o desenvolvimento de uma proposta de valor inovadora em políticas de saúde mental para os policiais, se configurando, assim, numa tendência em saúde mental nas políticas de saúde do CAIS.

This text proposes the analysis of a questionnaire carried out with the participation of military police officers (PMs) from 23 states in Brazil at the beginning of the covid-19 pandemic. We observed how general aspects of the health crisis impacted and led PMs to review their protocols and how social rearrangements caused by the pandemic affected policing. The research shows that covid-19 created conditions for officers to manifest vulnerabilities such as insufficient equipment, lack of investment in general, fragility on institutional assistance to police mental health and, finally, lack of social and professional recognition. The military police work consists of a continuous process of exposure to actual and symbolic violence. In this sense, this study aims to identify how military police officers in the Federal District perceive the harmful effects of work organization on physical and mental health. This study is qualitative, and it used documentary research and interviews, treated by content analysis. The results obtained demonstrate that the organization of military police work has a significant role in favoring physical and psychological illnesses. Social grievances include frustration due to the lack of recognition and self-blame for the impossibility of fulfilling institutional, social, and family demands, especially among female police officers. The study contributes to understanding that the dynamics that develop in military police work should be targets of organizational measures that allow for the design of management strategies to prevent illness, in addition to institutional forms of channeling and handling the burdens linked to the profession.

The objective of this study is to identify, analyze and find answers to the public security demands of the Military Police of the State of Piauí, as well as to suggest solutions to reduce policing problems in its territory. This is an exploratory, descriptive and bibliographical study that used the Identify, Analyze, Answers and Evaluation (IARA) methodology to approach and understand the existing problems, and to develop problem-oriented policing strategies. Data were collected in the period of January 2022, in the 6th BPM area. The occurrences with the highest incidence were: 1) robberies, thefts; 2) disturbance of public peace, and 3) threat. The IARA method is an important tool for public security policies and can be applied to the effectiveness of the PMPI strategic plan regarding the management of its policies. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The humanity has already gone through several difficulties, whether due to economic situations, wars, various conflicts, natural causes and diseases capable of affecting thousands of people. In 2020, a disease hitherto little studied arrived in Brazil, caused by a virus known as "Coronavirus SARS-CoV-2", which became known as "Covid-19" and which was already affecting thousands of people in the world, being considered a pandemic. With this, the need for coping actions arose, with special action in the areas of health and public safety, with the aim of combating the pandemic and preserving public order. O artigo examina a política pública de segurança no estado do Pará face ao contexto dos homicídios de jovens em Belém no ano de 2018, à luz das premissas teóricas críticas da criminologia da libertação. Os pressupostos que orientam a análise são: a) a seletividade do sistema penal; b) a deficiência dos mecanismos de controle social; e c) a ênfase em medidas de repressão. As reflexões partem da pesquisa sobre a distribuição territorial dos homicídios nos bairros Cabanagem, Telégrafo, Paracuri e Nazaré; sobre o perfil criminal e socioeconômico de 26 vítimas jovens (18 a 29 anos); de estudos sobre o perfil criminal das vítimas de homicídios em Belém; e de análises sobre as ações do planejamento estadual interagências nas áreas de segurança pública, saúde e educação; aliados à análise da atuação do policiamento ostensivo nos quatro bairros. Os resultados alcançados indicam que a incidência dos homicídios obedeceu a uma lógica de prática punitiva, com seletividade socioeconômica das vítimas, definindo a concentração dos casos em áreas periféricas da capital paraense, bem como que o perfil criminal e socioeconômico das vítimas sinaliza para falha dos mecanismos locais de controle social, e também que os resultados concretos das políticas de segurança pública, materializadas nos programas dos Planos Plurianuais do Estado, refletiram a carência de coordenação intersetorial entre as políticas públicas de segurança, restando por evidenciar apenas o reforço de ações repressivas pela polícia ostensiva nos bairros. Com base nas análises cartográficas e nos indicativos da criminologia da libertação, verificou-se a oportunidade de sistematização da metodologia de análise dos homicídios pela cartografia criminológica para a polícia ostensiva.

Entre os estudos interessados no processo de formação dos profissionais de segurança pública no Brasil, é comum o diagnóstico sobre a influência que as escolas de formação e a prática policial possuem na construção da identidade policial. Neste universo, é inegável a importância assumida pela análise processual turneriana, dada a tendência em compreender os futuros policiais enquanto sujeitos liminares, cuja identidade profissional seria moldada, fundamentalmente, pelas escolas de formação e pelo saber prático das ruas. Apoiado em dados etnográficos construídos junto a candidatos à carreira de policial militar no Rio de Janeiro, sugiro que muito mais do que criar novas identidades, os espaços de formação e prática contribuem no sentido de reorganizar e complexificar representações e modelos simbólicos que, de certa forma, já estão presentes nos possíveis futuros policiais. A entrada na polícia marcaria muito mais uma continuidade do que uma ruptura com a vida civil prévia dos candidatos.

Neste artigo, visamos compreender um dos modos pelos quais os policiais militares (PMs) constroem, a partir de aspectos culturais herdados do Exército que são vivenciados nas práticas de suas interações intra corporis, um senso de distinção em relação ao público civil. O aspecto em foco será o da “pagação”, fenômeno que se traduz com o exercício de flexões de braço, mais popularmente conhecido no meio militar como “marinheiro”, a partir de uma perspectiva qualitativa que toma como base a análise de fotografias realizadas em outro momento de pesquisa, além do uso da autoetnografia. Em conclusão, mostrar-se-á como a “pagação” é fundamentada na lógica do sofrimento físico e, como ação ritual, traduz uma distinção que caracteriza a imagem militar dos policiais, reforçando a identidade grupal e naturalizando sua diferença do restante da sociedade.

Este artigo apresenta e analisa o processo de luto vivenciado por familiares de policiais militares mortos por suicídio. Dez entrevistas com familiares de policiais da Polícia Militar do Estado do Rio de Janeiro (PMERJ) foram examinadas. Esses dados foram coletados pela pesquisa sobre o suicídio e risco ocupacional desenvolvido na referida instituição, entre 2010 e 2012. Destacamos cinco fatores principais nas narrativas, três específicos ao suicídio, que são: (i) as diferenças nos rituais fúnebres relacionados a essas mortes em relação a outras mortes, (ii) a importância da transparência na investigação das causas desses óbitos e, (iii) a ausência de políticas específicas para esses familiares. Além desses, destacamos (iv) as mudanças na dinâmica familiar a partir das mortes e (v) os distintos percursos no acesso desses familiares aos direitos. Por fim, defendemos a inclusão desse grupo nas políticas institucionais de promoção da saúde mental.

This article verified the influence of higher education requirements on the commitment of military police officers to the organization. We used the literature that comprises three types of bonds: the bonds of commitment, entrenchment and consent, delimiting this study to the bond of "commitment". The study was characterized by a cross-sectional, descriptive survey, with a sample of 6212 police officers. Among the results, it was observed that the commitment presents a subtle increase after the requirement of higher education, as well as the military with more than 30 years of career, or with "fundamental" schooling, present the strongest commitment. In Brazil, the requirement of higher education in the military has been highlighted on the agenda of debates and this research brought some data for reflection on this subject. The drafting of the Circumstantiated Term of Occurrence (TCO) by the Military Police (PM) represents the guarantee of fundamental rights, provided for in the Constitution, of access to public security and justice for citizens. The study sought to present the legal provision for the drawing up of the TCO by the Military Police; the history of the implantation and operationalization of the TCO by the Military Police of the State of Goiás; and analyze the numbers of the records, separating by nature of the criminal offenses that were registered via TCO, in the State of Goiás, between the years 2018 and 2021. The main results showed that the debates about the legality of the PM ended with the judgments of the Actions Unconstitutionality Directives (ADIs) No. 3807 and No. 5637; the history of the implementation of the TCO by PMGO marks the Provision 18/15 of the TJGO, the operationalization advanced from 2018; the numbers of TCOs drawn up expose not only statistical data, but social problems that deserve debate by the government and organized civil society. The operationalization of the TCO by PMGO evidences compliance with the principles provided for in Law 9099/95, namely: procedural economy, orality, celerity, informality and simplicity. Context: the case narrates the creation of the Integrated Information Circle, a pilot project that took place in an area limited to the Rocinha community, led by managers of the civil and military police, which was carried out through a partnership between the 11th DP - Rocinha and the 28th UPP - Rocinha. This action sought to develop protocols for the exchange of information in a continuous, effective, and, above all, institutionalized manner between local police agencies. However, despite the good results achieved, the initiative has not been consolidated. Methodology: the information was collected from secondary data and interviews from the managers who participated in the process - Dr. Gabriel Ferrando, chief of the 11th DP, and Major Felipe Carvalho Barreto, then intelligence superintendent of the Pacifying Police Coordination (CPP). Objectives: To discuss how the civil and military police organize and act. Results: development of analyzes on aspects related to the organization and culture of police institutions about the theme of integration. Conclusion: the case allows us to understand the limits and potential of integration between the police, based on the discussion about the possible reasons why the Integrated Information Circle has been discontinued. O presente estudo teve por objetivo realizar uma análise ergonômica em uma viatura policial, fornecendo melhores condições de trabalho aos oficiais de operação, mais especificamente do 11º Batalhão da Força Tática da Polícia Militar do estado de São Paulo. Os policiais devem realizar diversas operações em seu expediente, dentre elas, o patrulhamento, em que os respectivos têm uma jornada de trabalho de 12 horas diárias no máximo, previsto por lei, em plantões de 12 por 36 horas. Para mais de 99% dos casos, a operação de patrulhamento é realizada com 3 oficiais de operação por norma do comando da Polícia Militar, onde o oficial localizado na parcela traseira do veículo necessita cobrir a retaguarda, e a lateral do veículo, obrigando-o a realizar uma torção no conjunto lombar e pescoço de 123,79 graus para obter um campo de visão ideal. Faz-se tal atividade com uma frequência de 7 vezes por minuto, resultando em diversas ocorrências de lombalgia. Desta maneira, verificou-se a necessidade de adaptação do ambiente de trabalho ao oficial de operação, a fim de fornecer melhores condições operacionais e ergonômicas. Para o estudo de caso em questão, foram utilizados os métodos NIOSH, OWAS, RULA, REBA e Checklist de Couto a partir do software Ergolândia. Foi possível simular a movimentação dos oficiais durante a operação. Estes métodos foram selecionados com o intuito de facilitar a compreensão do material elaborado, resultando em análises de embasamento ergonômico para as mudanças propostas no interior da viatura. Com tais mudanças, obteve-se uma melhoria ergonômica de 28,57%, proporcionando melhores condições de trabalho aos policiais, e assim, retomando a questão do trabalho, comprovando que é possível fornecer melhores condições de trabalho aos oficiais do 11° Batalhão da Força Tática da Polícia Militar.

Estudo centrado na análise da obra literária Como era o Sudoeste e porque matei Joaquim Coelho, do poeta e soldado da Polícia Militar Joaquim Alves da Silva. Esta fonte, ainda desconhecida da historiografia, configura um campo discursivo promissor para a investigação da história da criminalidade presente no oeste e sudoeste do Paraná nas décadas de 1960 e 1970. Busca-se compreender as representações que o narrador constrói em torno da ação da polícia no combate ao jaguncismo e ao banditismo, bem como analisar as informações que apresenta sobre os bandoleiros que agiam nestas regiões. Como resultado, a obra de Joaquim Alves da Silva contribui para a problematização da história produzida em torno da região, em especial por fornecer um contraponto à história oficial e a grande parte da historiografia, que difunde perspectivas harmônicas e escamoteia os conflitos, em especial os litígios de terras e a presença de jagunços.

Resumo Introdução O suicídio é considerado um problema de saúde pública. Todos os anos 840 mil pessoas tiram a própria vida. Em policiais militares as taxas de suicídio também são altas. Objetivo Este trabalho buscou investigar características socio-ocupacionais em casos de suicídios de policiais militares de Santa Catarina, Brasil, ocorridos entre os anos de 2012 a 2016. Método Trata-se de um estudo documental, descritivo e de abordagem quantitativa, que utilizou informações socio-ocupacionais disponibilizadas pela organização sobre casos de suicídios de policiais militares. Resultados Todos os policiais militares que cometeram suicídio eram do sexo masculino (n = 14) e boa parte tinha filhos (85,71%). Dos casos de suicídio, 85,71% ocorreram na carreira de praças, especialmente no primeiro grau na hierarquia militar (soldados), com metade dos casos (n = 7). Em todos os casos, havia parte do salário comprometido com empréstimos ou dívidas financeiras. Conclusão Características ocupacionais importantes em determinadas situações podem vir a se tornar um fator de risco ao suicídio de policiais militares. Outras pesquisas são necessárias, especialmente considerando outras fontes de informação importantes não utilizadas nesta investigação.

Resumo O artigo trata da construção da autolegitimidade de policiais a partir de pesquisa qualitativa realizada com praças da Polícia Militar de São Paulo (PMESP). O objetivo é analisar o impacto das percepções e expectativas dos policiais sobre as atividades de policiamento na construção da legitimidade reivindicada por eles. Parte-se da concepção de legitimidade policial como processo dialógico continuamente atualizado nos contatos com a população. Foram realizadas 28 entrevistas em profundidade com praças da PMESP em oito distritos da cidade de São Paulo. As análises indicam uma disjunção entre a visão dos policiais sobre sua função e autoridade e a percepção sobre as respostas da população. Os entrevistados demonstram confiança em sua autoridade e valorização do trabalho de controle do crime, mas percebem um déficit de legitimidade nas respostas da população, que questiona sua autoridade nas abordagens. Consideram ainda certas demandas da população como excessivas e desvios de sua função.

O objetivo deste trabalho foi descrever e analisar o modo de atuação da Polícia Militar numa Comunidade do Recife. A análise foi ancorada em quatro categorias locais que emergiram no curso da pesquisa: a polícia que “altera”, “Inflama” e mata e os policiais de dentro. Os dados foram obtidos a partir de uma etnografia, cuja realização se deu no período de seis meses em que o autor morou no local onde esta pesquisa foi realizada. Concluímos que o modo de atuação da PM é baseado em pequenas violências cometidas no dia a dia, o que faz com que a instituição deixe de existir enquanto alternativa de promoção de segurança e resolução de conflitos. This article describes the history, procedures and published legal norms that supported the implementation of scientific management by the Military Police of Minas Gerais. In general, the management by indicators that guide the operational employment of the Military Police, being built and improved over the years. We tried to describe the steps followed by the institution until the implementation of the current model of management by indicators. It is demonstrated through a brief statistical analysis the effectiveness of the methodology that always needs improvement. It is noteworthy that indicators are not an end in themselves, but should guide, together with other indicators, such as administrative indicators (which guide administrative actions in support of operational activities), the use of ostensible public security services, in order to that can produce the desired effects. This article aimed to evaluate and dimension the stress caused from the routine work of thirty military police officers who carry out activities in the Military Police Operations Center (COPOM) as attendants and dispatchers. Investigate the impact of stress on the mental health of these professionals. For this purpose, this study also had the objective of, from the results obtained, to contribute to new statistical data and future studies of inventory validation, a psychological test that is exclusively used by the psychologist used to evaluate stress levels and symptomatology in adults. The instruments used were the Lipp Adult Stress Symptom Inventory (ISSL), which contributed to scale the occurrence and stress levels of military police officers and the Sociodemographic Questionnaire - QSD used to recognize the target audience of the research. It is noteworthy that in relation to gender, of the two (02) police officers who participated in the study, 100% presented stress symptoms and the male audience of the 28 participants, 12 presented stress corresponding to 42.8% of the research results. And referring to the stress phases and the symptoms indicated 36.66% are in the resistance phase and 10% in the almost exhaustion phase. The results showed that preventive and treatment actions are necessary for these professionals who practice a profession that exposes to constant stress and professionals in this area can trigger psychological and emotional consequences that result in mental fatigue, difficulty concentrating and immediate memory loss, as well as anxiety and mood crises, which lead them to mental suffering. Constitutional changes since 1988 brought great advances that collide with the quota system, widely used by the Military Police. Restricted access is justified only by the physical differences between women and men. The main function of the police officer is "to chase the bandit" and, for most of the Military Police in Brazil and the Federal District, women are not competent to exercise this function. One of the main objectives of this work is to understand and demonstrate that the relations of power and gender established, both at the time of publicizing the notice of the contest for military police, and in the exercise of the main activity, are based on sexist stereotypes that reinforce, even more, gender inequality in military institutions. Isolation from the civil world is an important cultural trait of organizations of military nature. This isolation influences or relates to other traits, such as: distrust, sense of mission, and formality. Thus, it becomes difficult to think about the use of information and communication technologies that allow members of these organizations to intensify their interaction with the community. In this study, we investigated the implementation process of social media by the Polícia Militar of Minas Gerais in order to understand the influence of these tools in its organizational culture. An instrumental qualitative case study was conducted through a constructionist approach in order to analyze discursive practices. The results pointed to two interpretive repertoires: “WhatsApp is the police officer’s media” and “Facebook is the police’s media”. These repertories are characterized by a lesser disposition for public exposure by the police and a greater institutional exposure in search of a positive public image.

Weak governance over the Brazilian Amazon is jeopardizing both social and environmental balance. Moreover, the loss of this balance can have severe social, economic, and political consequences at local, national, and global levels. Therefore, we plan to answer how the Brazilian forest is being protected based on the perspective of the environmental military police integrating all states of the so-called Legal Amazon. The study came from a field survey conducted through a questionnaire sent to those police agencies. The research is based on exploratory and descriptive methods of qualitative and quantitative approach with both field research and literature review on the subject. We sought to evaluate publications that satisfactorily described the "state of the art" of the main research on the topic, as we strove for the quality and comprehensiveness of the research, and a field survey through a questionnaire applied to law enforcement agencies. The responses were organized into four groups, allowing an overview of the environmental inspection in the region. Although the Amazon Rainforest is the largest tropical rainforest in the world, it has been found that states in the region devote little human and material resources to its protection. They are insufficient, tactically, and strategically under-employed, poorly distributed, and for the most part, far below the national average, which is already lower than recommended by international bodies which dedicate to the protection of nature. This article aimed to analyze the effectiveness and efficiency of the creation of a Criminal Analysis and Innovation System in the Military Police of the State of Goiás - PMGO in order to improve and modernize the preventive police management, as well as propose the structuring of a Criminal Analysis and Innovation Center as the central management body for the entire system and verify the possibility of developing a Criminal Analysis and Innovation Doctrine for PMGO. The research was motivated by the need to standardize and solve the production of criminal analysis, as well as promoting continuous innovation within the scope of the PMGO, in order to improve decision-making at all levels of planning (strategic, tactical and operational), promoting the correct use of police resources and at the same time promoting the modernization of the management of ostensive-preventive policing. For that, bibliographic works, scientific articles, laws, field analyzes were used, together with the application of a questionnaire directed to the commanders of operational, administrative and specialized units after authorization of the Institution's Strategic Staff. Being evidenced the importance of creating a Criminal Analysis and Innovation System at PMGO, as well as the elaboration of a doctrine in order to establish a set of teachings, principles, and concepts to standardize all the activities to be developed. O presente estudo foi realizado com o objetivo de analisar as horas de trabalho na Polícia Militar do Rio Grande do Norte para as atividades de policiamento e administrativos, comparando com o aplicado ao trabalhador comum para explorar a aplicação dos fundamentos do banco de horas nas unidades do Comando de Policiamento Metropolitano, como o propósito de definir as condições de execução e os resultados aplicados. Para realizar o estudo foi aplicada a metodologia da pesquisa bibliográfica e documental, com a aplicação de questionário organizado com perguntas fechadas, porém com margem para opinião pessoal do pesquisado. Os resultados permitiram verificar que o banco de horas tem o potencial de representar uma solução viável para o controle das atividades profissionais dos policiais militares, assegurando que sejam alcançados maior eficiência na segurança pública estadual. A conclusão apresenta os resultados obtidos e define a utilidade do banco de horas no policiamento ostensivo e no serviço administrativo, como forma de garantir a eficiência no uso racional dos recursos humanos.

Resumo Este artigo analisa a gestão da Polícia Militar, denominada de Brigada Militar (BM), no Presídio Central de Porto Alegre (PCPA), que perdura desde 1995, buscando compreender quais os procedimentos utilizados na produção da ordem prisional (quanto à organização dos espaços, à relação com os detentos e às especificidades da instituição policial militar). A metodologia abrangeu estudo em profundidade do PCPA, por meio de reconstrução histórica (pesquisa documental em jornais, sítios governamentais e legislação) e pesquisa de campo intensiva (observação de cunho etnográfico e entrevistas com policiais militares). Constatou-se que, a partir de uma atuação inicial coercitiva, a BM foi paulatinamente incorporando a persuasão e a negociação como mecanismos de gestão. Além disso, a demarcação explícita dos territórios e dos fluxos internos consolidou certo equilíbrio de forças entre a administração carcerária e o conjunto de presos, em meio a um contexto de superlotação, de precárias condições para o cumprimento da pena e de fortalecimento das organizações criminosas.

O presente artigo tem como objetivo desenvolver uma análise histórica das alterações observadas no papel feminino na Polícia Militar de São Paulo durante os governos militares pós-golpe de 1964. Centrado, principalmente, na análise documental de registros jornalísticos, artigos, imagens e relatórios de serviço da atuação do efetivo feminino, o texto busca compreender os preceitos que marcaram o trabalho policial no período frente a importantes alterações no campo político e dos costumes. Pioneiro no emprego feminino nas ações de policiamento no país, o estado de São Paulo revela como na Polícia Militar as mulheres serviram como um importante instrumento para atuar no campo da assistência social, regulando o atendimento a imigrantes e no enfrentamento do problema do “menor”, assim como em outros campos destinados ao “combate” sutil ao avanço dos grupos políticos opositores. Assim, o trabalho das policiais femininas mostrou-se fundamental na construção do discurso de modernização da segurança pública no período.

Goose is a term informally adopted by members of the Military Police of the State of Rio de Janeiro (PMERJ) for people who have some form of involvement with illicit drugs. In we consider the use of this term directed to two distinct groups: one is composed of suspects of drug use or trafficking and the other, by police drug users. In both groups, the goose represents a stigma which means a set of deteriorated and condemned behaviors. However, there are marked differences in the management of this stigma from the group to which the term is designated. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Female integration into the police has been hampered by the way police officers represent policing and the role men and women should play in this activity. This article intends to contribute to the understanding of the nature of these representations and barriers. Does being a man or a woman condition the perception that physical strength and courage are key attributes for policing? Does it influence the view that male police officers are better equipped for operational activities and female police officers for care and assistance activities? The article analyzes these questions through multivariate quantitative analysis of data from a survey conducted in 2012 at the Military Police of the State of Paraná (PMPR), Brazil. The data indicate that men and women agree with the view that policing is an activity that demands physical strength and courage, but maintain different views on who is more able to perform operational activities. This work highlights the social and criminal prevention impact of the protection actions of the Catarina Women's Protection Network Program, carried out at the headquarters of the 5th Military Police Battalion, in the city of Tubarão/SC, as a policing strategy. For that, the inductive approach method was used, starting from private propositions for the analysis of the results in general. The research procedure adopted was data collection, by application of a questionnaire to women victims of domestic and family violence attended by the military police garrison that works in the catarina women's protection network program, as well as bibliographic research. The work was structured in four parts where the legislative evolution relative to the theme was addressed, the attribution of the Military Police in relation to crimes of domestic and family violence, the methodology used, as well as the analysis of the data obtained in the research. Finally, it is concluded that there is evidence that the program contributes to the prevention of domestic and family violence, promoting changes in culture and behavior. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The present article proposes to verify elements of the organizational climate and its possible relations with signs of vulnerability to stress present in the military police officers of the BOPE (Battalion of Special Police Operations) and the 22nd BPM (Battalion of the Military Police) of the PMSC (Military Police of Santa Catarina). Through the application of the questionnaire EVENT (Vulnerability to Stress at Work Scale), the work collected quantitative data from a sample of 155 military police officers from the active service, including officers and officers. Data analysis revealed higher percentages of BOPE military police officers in the medium high and high levels of vulnerability to stress in relation to the climate and organizational functioning. Police officers working in operational activities showed higher levels of vulnerability to stress, when compared to administrative activity. Women tend to have higher levels of vulnerability to stress compared to men of the 22nd BPM, just as the Squares present in both units, 22nd BPM and BOPE, higher levels of vulnerability to stress, when compared to the Officials. Given these and other results presented in the course of the work, it can be seen that police activities need attention not only from military managers, but also from public policies of the State, as this is a work of great importance whose nature requires not only physically, but emotionally of those who are part of it.
