Bu araştırmanın amacı, pandemi döneminde EBA aracılığıyla gerçekleştirilen İngilizce öğretimine ilişkin öğretmenlerin, öğrencilerin ve velilerin görüşlerinin incelenmesidir. Araştırmada nitel araştırma yöntemlerinden fenomenoloji (olgubilim) kullanılmıştır. Araştırmanın çalışma grubunu Erzurum ilinde bulunan ortaokullarda görev yapan 10 İngilizce öğretmeni, 10 ortaokul öğrencisi ve 10 ortaokul öğrenci velisi oluşturmaktadır. Araştırmada katılımcılara yarı yapılandırılmış görüşme formu uygulanmıştır. Araştırmada elde edilen veriler içerik analizine tabi tutulmuştur. Araştırma sonucunda öğrencilerin derslere katılımının yetersiz olduğu ve akademik başarılarının düştüğü, öğrencilerin İngilizce dil becerilerinden dinleme ve okuma becerilerinin geliştiği; yazma ve konuşma becerilerinin ise gelişmediği görülmüştür. Öte yandan öğrencilerin derse tutumlarına ve ders sürelerine ilişkin eğitim paydaşları arasında bir fikir birliğine varılamamıştır. Uzaktan eğitimde internet sorunları, teknolojik yetersizlikler ve öğrencilerin motivasyonlarının düşük olması sorunları tespit edilmiştir. Ayrıca bu süreçte veli-öğrenci ve öğretmen iletişiminin sağlandığı ve uzaktan eğitimin tüm olumsuzluklara rağmen faydalı bulunduğu görülmüştür.

This research was carried out to determine the opinions of English teachers working in high schools about the 9th and 10th grade levels of the English lesson curriculum, which has been implemented since 2018. 19 volunteer English teachers who work in high schools that enroll students based on their addresses in the central districts of Gaziantep province and attend classes at the 9-10th grades participated in the research. The research is a qualitative research in which focus group interview technique is used. The interviews were carried out in 5 groups, with an interview form containing 9 semi-structured questions. During the focus group interviews, audio recordings were taken upon the consent of the participants, then the interview recordings were transcribed, and the findings were obtained with the descriptive analysis method. As a result of the research, it was found out that the teachers were satisfied with the 9th grade curriculum, the program was based on 4 basic skills, the program was practical, the themes were aimed at the interest of the students, the teachers only changed the activities when the activities were not suitable for the level of the student; they made it a bit more difficult, while applying the curriculum, they use the textbook, the digital resources offered by the ministry and some mobile applications were used in line with the curriculum. As for the 10th grade level of the curriculum, it was found out that they were not satisfied with the curriculum, the curriculum was very intense, the 4 basic skills were taken as a basis, but there were many activities to increase vocabulary knowledge, the texts were heavy and the activities were long, so there was a time constraint, and the students did not practice on the achievements as much as desired, all the acquirements could not be achieved, and they could just try to train the textbook. On the other hand, it was revealed that they did not use guidebooks for both grade levels because the teacher's guidebook did not arrive at the schools, and they could not use alternative evaluation methods due to the differences in the habits and expectations of the students, parents and school administration. That the English teachers to be taken under in service trainings on the English curriculum, 9th and 10th grade curriculums to be revised and interactive activities to be developed and adapted within the dijital portals offered by the Ministry are suggested by thre researcher. Writing is considered as one of the most compelling skills by nature. Similarly, teaching writing embodies a series of skills. Majority of students in English Language Preparatory program at Turkish universities state that they have difficulties in writing, and they do not feel a sense of achievement and self-efficacy in writing in English (L2 henceforth). This study aims to deliver students writing instruction in L2 through a 6-week-intervention integrating digital tools, which will support them throughout the writing processes. Also, the study examines the efficiency of the intervention to foster the students' self-efficacy levels and sense of achievement in L2 writing. 35 English preparatory students were given a six-week training in which digital tools were utilized to maximize their potential and experience during writing processes and students were scaffolded in a guided way in and outside the school environment. A mixed-method research design was used to gather quantitative data through Self-Efficacy Writing Scale (SEWS) (Bruning et al., 2013) and qualitative data through interviews and minute papers. The findings of the study revealed that digital tool supported writing instruction had promising impacts on fostering students’ self-efficacy in L2 writing, leading to gains in their ideation, use of writing conventions, and self-regulation abilities. The qualitative findings also suggested that digital tools empowered them as writers in L2 and led to improvements in their perceived sense of achievement in writing tasks.

The quality of English language education in universities is vital in preparing individuals for the increasingly globalized world. Assessing the efficacy of English teaching programs is therefore crucial to ensuring such quality. Consequently, this study aims to evaluate the optional English preparatory program of a state university using the CIPP model dimensions: context, input, process, and product. The current study employs a mixedmethods research approach, combining quantitative and qualitative data to address the research questions. The study sample comprised 247 preparatory graduate and 77 preparatory students, as well as 6 lecturers. In the quantitative part, The CIPP scale (Context, Input, Process, and Product), developed by the researchers based on item analysis, second-order exploratory factor analysis, reliability analysis, criterion validity, and content validity, was used to determine the strengths and weaknesses of the English preparatory program based on responses of participants to the items in four dimensions of the scale. The qualitative aspect of the study involved obtaining responses from participant students through open-ended questions and conducting semi-structured interviews with lecturers. These responses were analyzed, and the resulting excerpts were used to support and complement the findings obtained from the quantitative findings. The results indicate that the participants were highly satisfied with the optional nature of the program and held positive perceptions of it. However, some improvements, particularly in the physical conditions of the program's context dimension, such as the library, laboratory, and school building, were required. The findings from the input and process dimensions reveal the importance of increasing target language use and prioritization of speaking skills in the product dimension. The developed CIPP scale, which is statistically reliable and valid, can be utilized by researchers to evaluate English preparatory programs using the CIPP model. Speaking is an essential skill which enables language learners to play with the target language in their own thinking and creativity. It is also a complex and dynamic skill that requires detailed planning to teach in a classroom environment. On the one hand, foreign language learners feel challenge as they attempt to improve their speaking skills. On the other hand, foreign language teachers struggle to appeal to the needs of language learners as a result of the scarcity and ambiguity of the pedagogies in transferring the skills necessary to produce oral communication performance. This necessitates studies on providing foreign language teachers with a clearly guided approach to teach speaking skills. The aim of this study is to identify teachers' opinions about testing and assessment process in English language teaching. It is considered that the study's findings about how teachers experience testing and assessment phenomenon will contribute to the field by filling an important gap. This study, which was conducted within the scope of qualitative research, is a case study. The study consists of 45 English teachers working at different types of secondary schools in the provincial centre of Diyarbakır. A semi-structured interview form was used to collect data. Descriptive analysis technique was used to analyse the acquired data. Themes were determined considering the dimensions in research questions and sub-themes were coded and presented in tables. According to the findings it was revealed that teachers mostly tend to use traditional testing and assessment techniques and listening and speaking skills are not tested and assessed adequately among all foreign language skills. It was stated by teachers that the course books' inefficacy to draw students' attention, the density in classroom size and the inadequacy of physical and technological equipment are among the most important difficulties they had to handle in English language testing and assessment process. A need to concentrate on testing communicative language skills was determined. It is also suggested to regulate teaching materials in terms of their contents and to adapt with technology much more. The study was conducted to bring the language assessment literacy (LAL) of English language teaching (ELT) teachers into focus. It also attempted to investigate how the pre-service education background of ELT teachers, and the departments they graduated from, affected their assessment literacy. The data were obtained from 180 ELT teachers using a mixed-methods research design through a questionnaire and follow-up interviews. The results indicated that the ELT teachers' LAL was low, but they did not feel any serious need for assessment training. It was also found that the ELT teachers had different academic backgrounds in assessment. As ELT graduates received training in assessment, the graduates of other departments working as English teachers didn't.
