Our aim is to investigate the effects of the submucoperichondrial application of Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) on nasal mucosal healing after septoplasty surgery. This prospective randomized observational study was conducted between July 2019 and February 2021, with 40 patients aged 18–60 years who underwent closed the only septoplasty operation for similar septal deviations. Patient divided into two group; 21 patients were placed in PRP group to which PRP was applied on all mucosal surface and submucoperichondrial area of septum and 19 patients were placed in control group to which saline solution was applied on same regions. Nasal obstruction score, mucociliary clearance time, presence of nasal crusting, and bleeding time were evaluated on 5th, 10th, 15th day after surgery and compared between groups. Intranasal crusting on day 10 was found to be lower in the PRP group (n :13 68.4 %) than control group (n :7 33.3 %) with a statistically significant difference (p = 0.028). The nasal obstruction score on day 10 and 15 were found to be lower in the PRP group (3,33 ± 2,75, 2,07 ± 2,20) (than the control group (5,44 ± 2,26, 3,37 ± 1,92) with a statistically significant difference (p = 0,003, p = 0,009). The mucociliary clearance rate was found to be higher and the bleeding time was found to be lower in the PRP group, but a statistically significant difference was not observed. Introduction: Musculoskeletal injuries are widespread causes of sport injuries. Ordinary therapy is inadequate for rapid healing. So, in this study, the therapeutic effects of platelet rich plasma (PRP) were investigated as it is simple, efficient, and minimally invasive, and lessen recovery time. Materials and Methods: Fifty-four adult male albino rats, were categorizes into four groups: Group I (control group). Group II had a crush injury to the right gastrocnemius muscle, then sacrificed after 2 hours. Group III received no treatment and were subdivided into subgroups III A and III B, each includes 6 rats sacrificed after 7 and 14 days, respectively. Group IV, were injected immediately after injury by 0.1 ml PRP in injury site, then were subdivided into subgroups IV A and IV B, each includes 6 rats sacrificed after 7 and 14 days, respectively. Blood samples were analyzed for serum creatine phosphokinase (CPK) level. Sections from the middle part of the right gastrocnemius muscle were processed for histological assessment using H. and E., Masson trichrome stain, immunohistochemical staining for myogenin immunoreactivity, in addition to semithin and ultra-thin sections for light and electron microscopic examination, followed by morphometric and statistical studies. Results: Sections of group II showed disorganized, fragmented, discontinued, and tapering muscle fibers, disrupted Z discs at focal areas and giant disfigured mitochondria. The CPK level and mean number of myogenin immunoreactive nuclei and mean area percent of fibrous tissue were elevated, while the mean diameter of muscle fibers was decreased versus the control. Group III showed partial improvement, significant decrease in CPK level and increase in mean area percent of fibrous tissue, mean number of myogenin immunoreactive nuclei and in fiber diameter. Group IV showed prominent improvement. Conclusion: Platelet rich plasma could enhance repair of acutely crushed skeletal muscle and accelerate the healing process with minimal fibrosis. Statement of the Problem: Treatment of immature necrotic teeth is a problematic situation. Conventional root canal therapy is challenging and leaves a weak, fragile, and undeveloped tooth for lifetime. Purpose: This review was aimed to assess the outcome of available randomized clinical trials (RCTs) on the efficacy of platelet concentrates (PC) in dentine-pulp complex regeneration. Materials and Method: In this systematic review, an electronic search was conducted on MEDLINE, EMBASE, Cochrane, and Google scholar databases. A further manual search was performed on the list of related articles in order to ensure inclusion of potentially missed articles in earlier electronic search. Those proved RCTs matched with the standard criteria were included following an initial assessment of abstracts and the text independently by the reviewers. Results: From the total 602 harvested articles, only 13 met the criteria and were evaluated with 11 having parallel design and 2 split mouth. Only one study featured low risk of bias, while three had moderate risk and the rest were at high risk of bias. Six studies had used platelet rich plasma (PRP), 4 employed platelet rich fibrin (PRF), one utilized injectable platelet rich fibrin (I-PRF), and three used both PRF and PRP for their experimental groups while blood clot (BC) was used as the control group for all. The success rate was reported at 87.3% judged by the absence of pathologic signs and symptoms. Conclusion: Dentin wall thickening, root lengthening and apex closure were higher in PC groups, however, these differences were not statistically significant in reported studies. It can be concluded that PCs promote the pulp tissue revitalization and continuation of root development. However, a consensus on its potency for true pulp regeneration is yet to be reached. Background: Although regenerative medicine treatment is still in its infancy in Japan, legislation within the past decade has provided opportunities to explore new treatment methods using regenerative medicine. We conducted a 2-year prospective follow-up study to statistically analyze treatment outcomes using platelet-rich plasma (PRP) and platelet-rich fibrin (PRF) as effective scaffolds in meniscal repair. Questions/Purposes. 1. Does the use of PRF and PRP for meniscal repair surgery regenerate the meniscus? 2. Does augmentation of meniscal repair with PRF effectively improve knee function outcomes? Methods: Thirty-five patients underwent arthroscopic meniscal repair with PRP and PRF using new devices with all-inside techniques. Among these, 31 patients were evaluated for clinical outcomes postoperatively, and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) findings were evaluated. The variables were coded appropriately by creating a new column based on the Kellgren-Lawrence classification over time. Log transformation of different time points (pre, post 6, 12, or 24 months) in relation to Lysholm, International Knee Documentation Committee (IKDC), Japanese Orthopedic Association (JOA), and Tegner scores were performed. Follow-up arthroscopy using a needle scope was performed in some cases 2 years later. The PRP and PRF used were characterized using the Minimum Information for Studies Evaluating Biologics in Orthopaedics classification. Results: Overall, 31 patients were evaluated (mean age = 39.1 ± 15.7 years; preoperative rehabilitation period = 9.5 ± 7.7 weeks). The PRP had mean platelet and white blood cell concentrations of approximately 5.5- and 3.6-fold, respectively. A significant association existed between sex and deformity deterioration but not in age between the two groups classified by deformity deterioration. Surgical intervention significantly and positively impacted knee function, although no significant changes were found in the activity of the participants over time. MRI findings showed no regeneration of the repaired meniscus; nevertheless, none of them worsened. Furthermore, a case where the traumatic cartilage defect was covered with fibrocartilage-like tissue as a secondary finding was observed. Conclusions: Meniscal repair surgery using PRP/PRF is an effective treatment option for improving knee function in patients with knee deformity. Background: Islet transplantation is an effective treatment for diabetes or even its complications. Aim of this study is to investigate efficacy of biomaterial treated islet transplantation on treating diabetic nephropathy. Methods: Male rats were randomly divided into 6 groups; Control, diabetic control, diabetic transplanted with untreated islets, with platelet rich plasma treated islets, with pancreatic islets homogenate treated islets, or with these biomaterials combination treated islets. Islets cultured with biomaterials and transplanted to diabetic rats. After 60 days, biochemical, oxidative stress, and stereological parameters were assessed. Results: Serum albumin and BUN concentration, decreased and increased respectively, Oxidative stress of kidney impaired, kidney weight, volume of kidney, cortex, medulla, glomerulus, proximal and distal tubules, collecting ducts, vessels, inflammatory, necrotic and fibrotic tissue in diabetic group increased compared to control group (p < 0.001). In treated groups, especially pancreatic islets homogenate treated islets transplanting animals, there was significant changes in kidney weight, and volume of kidney, proximal and distal tubules, Henle's loop and collecting ducts compared with diabetic group (p = 0.013 to p < 0.001). Combination treated islets animals showed significant increase in vessel volume compared to diabetic group (p < 0.001). Necrotic and fibrotic tissue significantly decreased in islets treated than untreated islet animals, it was higher in pancreatic islets homogenate, and combination treated islets groups (p = 0.001). Conclusions: Biomaterials treated islets transplanting could improve diabetic nephropathy. Improvement of oxidative stress followed by controlling glucose level, and effects of growth factors presenting in biomaterials can be considered as capable underlying mechanism of ameliorating inflammatory, necrotic and fibrotic tissue volume. Aims and background: Endometrial thickness <7 mm is frequently associated with recurrent implantation failure and poor reproductive outcomes along with obstetric and perinatal complications, leading to paramount emotional and financial stress on the patients. Novel strategies are being implemented to mitigate a thin endometrium, one of which is the administration of autologous platelet-rich plasma (PRP). In this study, we have examined the efficacy of PRP in increasing the endometrial thickness. Materials and methods: Our retrospective cohort study included 37 patients, of whom 15 received conventional hormone replacement therapy (HRT) and 22 patients received an additional intrauterine infusion of autologous PRP. Outcomes in the form of endometrial thickness and pregnancy rates were assessed. Endometrial thickness of <7 mm was used as a cutoff value for cycle cancellation. Results: A significant increase in endometrial thickness was noted upon PRP administration (7.773 vs 6.367 mm, p = 0.001). PRP-treated group resulted in a lower cycle cancellation rate since 73% of the patients achieved a thickness of >7 mm, whereas none of the patients achieved this thickness when treated with conventional HRT. The pregnancy rates were comparable between the two groups. Conclusion: Owing to its autologous nature, noninvasive and safe use, autologous PRP can be considered a promising adjuvant for managing a thin endometrium. Clinical significance: A thin endometrium is a challenging situation for both patients and clinicians alike. Aim: To assess the efficacy of a bioregenerative scaffold derived from bone marrow aspirate, cancellous bone autograft, platelet-rich plasma and autologous fibrin in treating supracondylar femur nonunions. Methods & materials: Three patients with nonunions following multiple surgical failures underwent bone stabilization and the application of a novel bioregenerative scaffold. x-rays and subjective scales were collected before surgery and at 6, 12 and 24 months post-surgery. Results: All nonunions exhibited healing with sufficient callus formation, as confirmed radiologically. After 6 months, all patients resumed full weight-bearing walking without pain. Statistical analysis showed improvements in all scales compared with pre-surgical values. Conclusion: This method presents itself as an option for treating supracondylar femur nonunions following multiple surgical failures. The objective of this case series study was to evaluate the effectiveness of a new biological autologous scaffold, comprised of stem and blood cells along with blood derivatives, in treating challenging cases of supracondylar femur nonunions. Three participants underwent the application of this surgical method and were monitored for a period of 2 years. The therapy was well tolerated and deemed safe. Notably, all three patients experienced significant reductions in pain and improvements in functionality. Within a few months, they were able to walk with full weightbearing without pain, and clear indications of progressing toward bone union were evident by the 6 months. This study demonstrates that the surgical application of autologous blood, cancellous bone and bone marrow, following the described concept and method, is an effective, safe and enduring treatment for femur nonunions. It markedly diminishes pain, enhances leg function and yields statistically significant improvements in quality of life. Meniscus tears in the avascular region undergoing partial or full meniscectomy lead to knee osteoarthritis and concurrent lifestyle hindrances in the young and aged alike. Here they reported ingenious photo‐polymerizable autologous growth factor loaded 3D printed scaffolds to potentially treat meniscal defects. A shear‐thinning photo‐crosslinkable silk fibroin methacrylate–gelatin methacrylate–polyethylene glycol dimethacrylate biomaterial‐ink is formulated and loaded with freeze‐dried growth factor rich plasma (GFRP). The biomaterial‐ink exhibits optimal rheological properties and shape fidelity for 3D printing. Initial evaluation revealed that the 3D printed scaffolds mimic mechanical characteristics of meniscus, possess favourable porosity and swelling characteristics, and demonstrate sustained GFRP release. GFRP laden 3D scaffolds are screened with human neo‐natal stem cells in vitro and biomaterial‐ink comprising of 25 mg mL−1 of GFRP (GFRP25) is found to be amicable for meniscus tissue engineering. GFRP25 ink demonstrated rigorous rheological compliance, and printed constructs demonstrated long term degradability (>6 weeks), GFRP release (>5 weeks), and mechanical durability (3 weeks). GFRP25 scaffolds aided in proliferation of seeded human neo‐natal stem cellsand their meniscus‐specific fibrochondrogenic differentiation. GFRP25 constructs show amenable inflammatory response in vitro and in vivo. Objective: To compare the efficacy of Platelet Rich Plasma versus Steroids among patients managed for Tennis elbow at our Orthopaedic unit. Study Design: Quasi-experimental study. Place and Duration of Study: Orthopaedic Department, Combined Military Hospital, Rawalpindi Pakistan, from Jan 2021 to Jul 2022. Methodology: Patients with Tennis Elbow diagnosed by a consultant orthopaedic surgeon were included in the study. They were randomly allocated treatment with platelet-rich plasma and steroid injections. The team assessed them after three months of treatment using the Disabilities of Arm, Shoulder, and Hand score. Different factors, including mode of treatment, were associated with significant improvement in these patients at the end of three months. Results: Out of 250 patients with tennis elbow included in the final analysis, 193(77.2%) were male, and 57(22.3%) were female. Patients were divided into two groups for comparison, and Group-1 had significant improvement, while Group-2 had no improvement. Out of the total, 117(46.8%) patients received platelet-rich plasma, while 133(53.2%) patients were managed with corticosteroids. Abstract Background Poor ovarian response (POR) patients often encounter cycle cancellation and egg retrieval obstacles in assisted reproductive technology. Platelet rich plasma (PRP) ovarian injection is a potential treatment method, but the treatment methods are different, and the treatment results are controversial. Objective This study adopts a systematic review and meta-analysis method based on clinical research to explore the efficacy and safety of PRP injection on POR. Method The following databases were searched for research published before March 2023; Medline (via PubMed), Web of Science, Scopus, Cochrane Library, Embase, Cochrane Library, and China National Knowledge Infrastructure Database (CNKI). The literature was then screened by two independent researchers, who extracted the data and evaluated its quality. Research was selected according to the inclusion criteria, and its quality was evaluated according to the NOS standard Cohort study. The bias risk of the included study was assessed with STATE 14.0. RevMan 5.3 software was used for meta-analysis. Main results Ten studies were included in the analysis, including 7 prospective cohort studies and 3 retrospective studies involving 836 patients. The results showed that after PRP treatment, follicle stimulating hormone (FSH) significantly decreased and anti-Mueller hormone (AMH) and luteinizing hormone (LH) significantly increased in POR patients, but estradiol did not change significantly; The number of antral follicles increased, and the number of obtaining eggs and mature oocytes significantly increased; The number of Metaphase type II oocytes, 2PN and high-quality embryos, and cleavage stage embryos significantly increased. In addition, the patient cycle cancellation rates significantly decreased. The rate of natural pregnancy assisted reproductive pregnancy and live birth increased significantly. Four reports made it clear that no adverse reactions were observed. Conclusion PRP may have the potential to improve pre-assisted reproductive indicators in POR patients, increase the success rate of in vitro fertilization-embryo transfer (IVF-ET) in POR patients, and improve embryo quality, and may be beneficial to the pregnancy outcome. There is no obvious potential risk in this study, but further clinical support is still needed.

Abstract Direct pulp capping (DPC) is a conservative approach for preserving tooth vitality without requiring more invasive procedures by enhancing pulp healing and mineralized tissue barrier formation. We investigated the effectiveness of Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) vs. Mineral Trioxide Aggregate (MTA) as a DPC agent. Forty-two teeth from three mongrel dogs were divided into two equal groups. After three months, the animals were sacrificed to evaluate teeth radiographically using cone-beam computerized tomography, histopathologically, and real-time PCR for dentin sialophosphoprotein (DSPP), matrix extracellular phosphoglycoprotein (MEPE), and nestin (NES) mRNA expression. Radiographically, hard tissue formation was evident in both groups without significant differences (p = 0.440). Histopathologic findings confirmed the dentin bridge formation in both groups; however, such mineralized tissues were homogenous without cellular inclusions in the PRP group, while was osteodentin type in the MTA group. There was no significant difference in dentin bridge thickness between the PRP-capped and MTA-capped teeth (p = 0.732). Abstract Background Mid-Palatal suture expansion needs long retention period due to delayed bone formation in the expanded suture. Platelet-rich plasma (PRP) is a concentrated source of growth factors which increase bone formation. The aim of this study was to evaluate the effect of PRP injection on bone formation in expanded mid palatal suture in rabbits. Methods In this prospective randomized controlled animal study, Twenty male rabbits (8-weeks-old) were subjected to mid-palatal expansion for 5 days. Animals were afterwards randomly divided into control group A & study group B. PRP was prepared and injected in the mid-palatal suture in animals belonging to group B only. After 6 weeks of retention, all animals were euthanized, and premaxillae were prepared for histological, histomorphometric and immunohistochemical analysis. AbstractThe porous microcarriers of sodium alginate/platelet rich plasma-MgO2 (SA/PRP-MgO2) were prepared using an emulsion method combined with a freeze-drying method. The effects of the content of MgO2 on the morphology of the microcarriers, swelling ratio, and oxygen release were studied. The results showed all porous microcarriers with various contents of MgO2 showed an interconnective porous structure, with an average particle size of 150–350 μm. The pore size, swelling ratio, and oxygen release of the microcarriers increased with increasing content of MgO2 in the microcarriers. Background: Cutaneous warts are benign epidermal proliferations caused by human papilloma virus (HPV). Zink (Zn) has been utilized in different preparations in the treatment of common warts (CWs) as oral Zn sulphate, intralesional 2% Zn sulphate, topical application of 10%, and 5% Zn sulfate (ZnSO4) with different success rates. The platelet rich plasma (PRP) is being utilized in numerous and various dermatological indications as in alopecia, tissue regeneration, wound healing, scar revision, and skin rejuvenation. Objective: To compare the efficacy of intralesional injection (ILI) of platelet rich plasma versus 20% topical Zn oxide (ZnO) paste in treatment of common viral warts. Patients and Methods: This study was a prospective randomized controlled trial (RCT) that was conducted over one year and included 100 patients with clinically evident, numerous CWs and were divided into two groups, group A comprised 50 patients treated with ILI of autologous PRP (APRP) and group B included 50 patients managed with 20% ZnO paste. The outcomes were assessed one month, two months and after six months from the last injection. Results: After one month of treatment, Group A had a notably better outcome in terms of excellent responses to treatment. After six months of treatment there was a significant difference in the rate of complete cures where group A showed statistically significant higher rates of complete cure. The mean percentage of improvement for Group A was statistically significantly higher than in Group B (p value<0.001). Objective Acne vulgaris is a common chronic skin disease occurring in adolescence. It involves blockage and inflammation of pilosebaceous units. It is usually self-limiting but in 20% of affected individuals it can lead to scarring. The objective of the study is to compare and evaluate efficacy of Micro needling with PRP versus micro needling with vitamin C in treatment of atrophic acne scars. Methods This study was conducted in a government based tertiary care hospital free of any cost. Total number of patients included was 28. Two groups were made; Group (A) was treated with microneedling with PRP and Group (B) was treated with microneedling with vitamin C using Derma pen, containing an array of microneedles arranged circularly. Each group comprised of fourteen patients. Results Goodman’s and Baron quantitative and qualitative grading of acne scars was used to assess baseline and result. Physician’s assessment was used to grade treatment response as poor, good, and excellent during follow as system. Conclusion Physician’s assessment of improvement showed excellent response in 3 patients, good response in 8 patients and poor response in 3 patients in Group (A). Refractory wounds present complex and serious clinical dilemmas in plastic and reconstructive surgeries. Currently, there are no standard guidelines for the treatment of refractory wounds. To observe the clinical effects of ultraviolet (UV) therapy combined with autologous platelet‐rich plasma (PRP) on chronic refractory wounds. Between January 2021 and December 2022, 60 inpatients with chronic refractory wounds were enrolled. Twenty patients were assigned to each of control groups 1 and 2 and treatment group according to whether they received PRP or UV treatment. All the patients underwent thorough debridement. Control group 2 received UV radiation. The treatment group underwent UV radiation combined with PRP gel covering the wound. Control group 1 underwent routine dressing changes after surgery, followed by skin grafting or skin key transfer if needed. One month later, we observed the wound healing in the two groups. After 2—4 PRP gel treatments, the wounds of patients in the treatment group healed. The healing time was 25.25 ± 4.93 days, and the dressings were changed 4.15 ± 3.30 times, both of which were better outcomes than in both control groups. In the treatment group, epidermal growth factor (EGF), insulin‐like growth factor (IGF), platelet‐derived growth factor (PGF), and transforming growth factor β (TGF‐β) were slightly higher, and the concentration of vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) was significantly higher than in the control group (p < 0.05). PRP combined with UV therapy significantly increased the concentration of wound growth factors, accelerated wound healing, shortened treatment time, reduced treatment costs, and alleviated pain in patients. Background: This study was conducted to examine the hypothesis that umbilical cord blood platelet lysate (UCB-PL) gel has a significant impact on the healing rate of DFU. Μethods: In this open-labeled, randomized controlled trial, 110 patients were randomized to treatment with UCB-PL gel (UCB-PL group, n = 52) every three days for one month or dressing with normal saline (control group, n = 58). All participants were followed up for 20 weeks post treatment. Ulcer surface area was assessed with the imitoMeasure application at two, four, and six weeks, and two, four and six months. This study's main outcome was the reduction in ulcer size over the six-month study period. Results: The mean ulcer area at baseline was 4.1 cm2 in the UCB-PL group and 1.7 cm2 in the control group. At six months post treatment, patients on the UCB-PL treatment displayed a significant reduction in ulcer size compared to baseline 0.12 (0–8.16) in contrast to a more modest change in the control group 1.05 (0–24.7). The ulcer area was decreased at the end of the study in 40 patients (97.6%) in the UCB-PL group and 27 (73%) in the control group (Fisher's p = 0.002). Introduction: Falls, with subsequent fracture and muscle injury are very commonly encountered in the elderly. Platelet rich plasma has been found to have marked ability to enhance regeneration of various tissues and organs and is widely used nowadays in a variety of medical sectors. Aim of the Work: To study the effect of PRP on skeletal muscle repair in senile male albino rats. Material and Methods: Forty-two senile male senile albino rats, aging 24 months and weighing 280 grams, were used. Six rats were used as PRP donors and thirty-six were equally divided into three groups. Group I was equally subdivided into subgroup IA; rats were left without intervention and subgroup IB; rats were sham operated on the right hind limb. Group II: gastrocnemius muscle injury was induced in the right hind limb and rats were left for spontaneous healing and were further equally subdivided into subgroups IIA and IIB where rats were sacrificed on the 1st day and the 7th day post-injury respectively. Group III: gastrocnemius muscle injury was induced as group II, and rats were treated with 100 microliters PRP on the same day of injury then rats were further equally subdivided into subgroup IIIA: rats were sacrificed on the 1st day postinjury and subgroup IIIB: rats were given 100 microliters of PRP on the 3rd day and 5th day post-injury then were sacrificed on the 7th day. At the end of experiment for each subgroup, the gastrocnemius muscle was excised and processed for light and transmission electron microscopic examination. Results: PRP led to stronger post injury acute inflammatory response and prevented the persistence of age-related delayed inflammatory state. Background: Depression is a mood disorder that causes a persistent feeling of sadness and loss of interest. Platelet rich plasma (PRP) is an autologous derivative of the whole blood which has an important regenerative role in medicine. Materials and Methods: Thirty adult male albino rats were used in this study. They divided into three groups: control, flouxetine and platelet rich plasma treated groups. Results: There was statistically significant difference between the studied groups regarding creatinine level, MDA, IL6 and TNF with the highest level was reported in the fluoxetine group. The renal cortex of fluoxetine treated group showed congested glomerular capillaries. Some tubular cells had dark stained nuclei. Massive interstitial infiltration of inflammatory cells was detected in some sections. PRP treated group showed marked improvement in the histological structure of renal cortical tissue. Sections of fluoxetine treated group revealed a few PAS positive reaction at the brush border of most of PCT and the basal lamina of the tubular cells, that returned as the control group in PRP treated group. In fluoxetine treated group' cytoplasmic positive reaction in fluoxetine treated group was seen in many epithelial lining of the tubules positive immunoreactions in few tubules PRP treated group. Conclusion:our study found that fluoxetine causes deterioration of the kidney function and changes in histological structure of renal cortex which were improved by PRP application. which were improved by PRP application. Plantar fasciitis is one of the most common foot conditions presenting to a foot and ankle specialist. Surgical treatment outcomes following plantar fasciotomy vary but short-term studies have reported excellent early pain relief and significant improvements in symptoms. This study evaluates patient reported pain scores collected pre- and post-op for patients who underwent percutaneous ultrasonic microtenotomy (PUT) plantar fasciotomy with PRP injection vs without the use of PRP. We compared pain visual analog scale (VAS) scores, for patients treated surgically by Orthopedic Surgery department of foot and ankle faculty members between December 2007 and December 2022. A total of 30 patients were identified that met inclusion and exclusion criteria. Our results showed that there was a significant decrease in pain VAS scores from pre-op visit (at least 1 month prior to operation) to post-op visit (at least 1 month following operation) for both groups, with a paired t test (p value <.0001). However, patients who received PRP had a statistically significant decrease in pain level compared to the group who did not receive PRP. Statistical analysis completed with a 2-sample t test (p -value <.0325). Our results found the mean time between the initial pre-op visit and last post-op follow-up visit was 19 months. The mean for time following surgical intervention was 10 months. The findings of our study suggest that the dual use of PUT and PRP to treat plantar fasciitis, could potentially lead to an improvement in pain reduction and longevity of pain relief. The aim of this study was to evaluate the effectiveness and safety of intra-articular PRP and HA in KOA patients. Methods: The current work was prospective randomized observational. Participants were divided into two groups. Group 1; 1 intraarticular PRP injection (15 mL) in 72 patients and Group 2; A single intra-articular injection of HA (80 mg/4 mL) was administered to 72 patients. All patients were evaluated before infiltration and 1, 3, 6, and 12 months after injection. Results: No significant difference was detected in the demographic distribution (gender and age) and Grade RT, Grade RL, Grade II OA and Grade III OA classifications of patients who received intra-articular PRP or HA injection for knee OA (p>0.05). Compared with the HA group WOMAC mean of 48.8 and p<0.05, there was no significant change in the PRP groups with the WOMAC mean of 68.9. At month 3, each group had significantly reduced overall WOMAC score compared to baselines in both groups. The mean WOMAC was 48.2 in the HA and 47.9 in the PRP group (P<0.001). At 6 months, the average WOMAC score of the PRP group was 39.4, while this rate was 56.3 in the HA group (P<0.001). The PRP group showed a steady improvement, while those treated with HA showed a rapid deterioration. At 12 months, the HA group's WOMAC scores (74.1) returned to baseline levels. Aims and Objectives: To compare the efficacy of platelet rich plasma (PRP) and platelet rich fibrin (PRF) in bone regeneration after removal of impacted bilateral third molars. Materials and Methods: The study was carried out as an open clinical trial on 20 patients chosen from the ones referred to the department of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery for surgical removal of bilateral mandibular third molar. Patients were prepared for surgical procedure, Inferior alveolar nerve block given using 2% lignocaine hydrochloride with 1:2,00,000 adrenaline. Third molar were removed by flap reflection and bone drilling. Finally, PRF in lower left mandibular third molar region and PRP in lower right mandibular third molar region was inserted and wound closure was done. Cone bean computer tomography (CBCT) was made on 1st postoperative day and 4 months after surgery to evaluate alveolar bone height and density. Result: Alveolar bone height and bone density at post-operative 1st day and 4 months were compared between PRP and PRF group. The bone density and bone volume were analyzed, and there was no significant difference between bone density in PRP and PRF at day 1 and 4th month. Conclusion: As per our study and evaluation, in our postoperative follow up there was no statistically significant differences in bone regeneration by placement of PRP and PRF in extracted socket of third molar. BACKGROUND: Acne vulgaris is a worldwide chronic inflammatory dermatological disorder of pilosebaceous unit that adversely affects patients’ quality of life, so safe and effective treatment options are needed. Platelet rich plasma is an autologous highly concentrated platelets in a little amount of plasma. Various growth factors are released after platelet activation that have significant role in angiogenesis, inflammation and wound healing. AIM: to assess the efficacy and safety of platelet rich plasma injection in management of acne vulgaris. METHODS: Thirty patients with acne vulgaris of different severity and duration received four sessions of platelet rich plasma that injected intradermal, one session every two weeks for 8 weeks. RESULTS: The obtained results showed a statistically significant decrease in the total lesion count (P<0.05) and high statistically significant decrease in acne severity index (P<0.01) from baseline. Also, high statistically significant decrease was observed in pustules count (P<0.01) after treatment. Mild side effects were detected in the form of mild to moderate pain, erythema and edema immediately after treatment with Intradermal platelet rich plasma injection. CONCLUSIONS: Intradermal Platelet Rich Plasma injection is promising and effective treatment option for acne vulgaris with tolerable side effects. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Platelet rich plasma (PRP) injections have been utilized in an attempt to provide improved pain and functional outcomes to patients with a variety of orthopaedic ailments. Adhesive capsulitis, also known as frozen shoulder is a common debilitating condition that carries significant morbidity due to the painful and prolonged course. Various studies have investigated intra-articular PRP administration with different methodologies and outcomes. We sought to perform a meta-analysis on outcomes of adhesive capsulitis after PRP injection, determine effectiveness compared to corticosteroid, and compare adverse events. Meta analysis. EMBASE, EBSCO, Pubmed and Google Scholar were used to extract titles and abstracts using keywords "adhesive capsulitis", "frozen shoulder", "PRP", "platelet rich plasma". 41 articles were found and after duplicates removed and full-text review, 7 studies investigating 385 patients undergoing PRP or corticosteroid injections were found. Age, gender, body mass index (BMI), and ASA scores were obtained. Patient reported outcomes (PROs) were obtained and all reported range of motion (ROM) were recorded and compared after PRP and steroid injections using random effects meta-regression pre-injection and post-injection. Both intra-articular PRP and steroid injections resulted in improved outcomes for treatment of adhesive capsulitis at 3 months. PRP injections had significantly better range of motion in passive forward flexion (151° vs 144.1°, p = 0.024) and had improved Shoulder Pain and Disability Index (SPADI) scores (14.6° vs 18.6°, p = 0.009) compared to steroid, however these may not reach minimum clinical thresholds. PRP had significantly better active (60° vs 43. 5°, p = 0.038) and passive internal rotation (69.6° vs 52.7°, p = 0.017) compared to steroid which did reach minimum clinical thresholds. There were no differences detected between VAS pain, active forward flexion, extension, abduction, external rotation nor difference in adverse events. Both injections decreased pain and improved range of motion in patients. Intra-articular PRP injections may result in improved internal rotation compared to corticosteroid. BackgroundTreatment for post-traumatic greater occipital neuralgia (GON) includes serial injections of steroid/anesthetic. While these injections can alleviate pain, effects can be transient, frequently lasting only 1 month. As a potential alternative, platelet-rich plasma (PRP) injections are an emerging biological treatment with beneficial effects in peripheral nerve disorders. We investigated the feasibility, safety, and effectiveness of a single PRP injection for post-traumatic GON in comparison to saline or steroid/anesthetic injection.MethodsIn this pilot randomized, double-blinded, placebo-controlled trial, 32 adults with post-traumatic GON were allocated 1:1:1 to receive a single ultrasound-guided injection of (1) autologous PRP (2) steroid/anesthetic or (3) normal saline. Our primary outcome was feasibility (recruitment, attendance, retention) and safety (adverse events). Exploratory measures included headache intensity and frequency (daily headache diaries) and additional questionnaires (headache impact, and quality of life) assessed at pre-injection, 1 week, 1 month, and 3 months post-injection.ResultsWe screened 67 individuals, 55% were eligible and 95% of those participated. Over 80% of daily headache diaries were completed with 91% of participants completing the 3-month outcome questionnaires. No serious adverse events were reported. There were no significant differences between groups for headache intensity or frequency. Headache impact on function test-6 scores improved at 3 month in the PRP (β = −9.7, 95% CI [−15.6, −3.74], p = 0.002) and saline (β = −6.7 [−12.7, −0.57], p = 0.033) groups but not steroid/anesthetic group (p = 0.135).ConclusionPRP is a feasible and safe method for treating post-traumatic GON with comparable results to saline and steroid/anaesthetic. BackgroundMacrophages are innate immune cells that display remarkable phenotypic heterogeneity and functional plasticity. Due to their involvement in the pathogenesis of several human conditions, macrophages are considered to be an attractive therapeutic target. In line with this, platelet derivatives have been successfully applied in many medical fields and as active participants in innate immunity, cooperation between platelets and macrophages is essential. In this context, the aim of this review is to compile the current evidence regarding the effects of platelet derivatives on the phenotype and functions of macrophages to identify the advantages and shortcomings for feasible future clinical applications.MethodsA total of 669 articles were identified during the systematic literature search performed in PubMed and Web of Science databases.ResultsA total of 27 articles met the inclusion criteria. Based on published findings, platelet derivatives may play an important role in inducing a dynamic M1/M2 balance and promoting a timely M1-M2 shift. However, the differences in procedures regarding platelet derivatives and macrophages polarization and the occasional lack of information, makes reproducibility and comparison of results extremely challenging. Furthermore, understanding the differences between human macrophages and those derived from animal models, and taking into account the peculiarities of tissue resident macrophages and their ontogeny seem essential for the design of new therapeutic strategies.ConclusionResearch on the combination of macrophages and platelet derivatives provides relevant information on the function and mechanisms of the immune response.

IntroductionIn veterinary medicine there are few readily available products for platelet transfusion to patients with thrombocytopenia. Commercial tabletop platelet concentrating systems have recently become available to veterinarians, primarily directed towards uses associated with regenerative medicine. These systems could potentially be used to produce fresh concentrated platelets for use in transfusion medicine. This study evaluated the concentration, activation, and sterility of a double centrifugation platelet concentrate (PC) produced by a commercial benchtop system.MethodsTen healthy dogs were studied. Whole blood was collected and mixed with ACD-A in a 1:7.6 ratio of ACD-A to whole blood. 12 mL of this mixture was processed into PC via single centrifugation, while 60 mL of the anticoagulated whole blood was processed via a commercial double centrifugation system. Both types of PC were evaluated for platelet concentration, CD62P expression with and without thrombin stimulation, and for sterility.ResultsMean platelet count in the double centrifuged PC was 863 ± 352 × 103/μL, with very low white blood cell contamination (median of 0.47 × 103 leukocyte/μL (range 0.15–2.18 × 103/μL)). The double-centrifuged PC had similar baseline activation characteristics (as determined by P-selectin expression) as the single centrifuge PC (0.76% vs. 0.72% unstimulated, 30.5% vs. 34.9% stimulated, p = 0.432).DiscussionThe benchtop PC system studied here did not cause activation of platelets during production and produced a sterile product that can be further investigated as a source of fresh platelet concentrates for transfusion purposes.

Abstract: Introduction: Temporomandibular disorders (TMD) are a group of disorders that affect the temporomandibular joint, associated musculoskeletal tissues or both, such as myofascial pain, internal dearrangements, and certain degenerative and rheumatological diseases. In recent practice corticosteroid and Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) has been proposed as an intervensional mode of treatment in TMD patients. We aimed to compare the efficacy of PRP and corticosteroid injection in reducing symptoms of TMD after failure of conservative treatment. Materials and methods: A total of 60 cases (30 in each study and control groups) of TMD patients were included in this study. In patients of study group, intra Articular injection of PRP and in control group, lignocaine with Triamcinolone was given at Temporomandibular joint (TMJ). Both the groups were assessed for pain, inter-incisal mouth opening and joint sound at 6wk interval upto 3 month after injection. Results: Pain and joint sound was markedly reduced in PRP group than corticosteroid group .Inter-incisal mouth opening also shows better result in PRP group. Conclusion: Intra-articular PRP injection has significantly better outcome in terms of pain, inter incisal mouth opening and joint sound in refractory cases of TMD than intra-articular corticosteroid injection.

In the context of existing data, the routine use of PRP to enhance primary fracture healing and non-union management cannot be supported. Abstract Background Platelet-rich plasma (PRP) is an autologous platelet concentration recently used in the reproductive field. Studies had conflicting results regarding its effect on pregnancy outcomes. We aimed to solve the debate on the safety and efficacy of PRP in women undergoing assisted reproduction and assess the influence of covariates on the outcomes of PRP infusion. Methods We searched PubMed, Scopus, Cochrane, and Web of Science in May 2023. We included randomized and non-randomized clinical trials as well as cohort studies assessing intrauterine PRP in sub fertile women undergoing assisted reproduction (IVF/ICSI). For the quality assessment, We used the Cochrane Risk of Bias Tool 1, the ROBINS-I tool, and the Newcastle–Ottawa Scale. We pooled the data using RevMan version 5.4. Background and purpose: Dental pulp stem cells (DPSCs) with the ability to differentiate into different types of adult cells have provided a new vision in the treatment of various diseases. However, different challenges remain with differentiation methods to produce insulin-producing cells (IPCs). In the present study, the differentiation of dental pulp stem cells into IPCs using platelet-rich plasma (PRP) has been addressed. Materials and methods: In this experimental study for generation of IPCs, DPSCs were cultured in the first step, and then to confirm the characteristics of stem cells, the morphology of stem cells was confirmed by microscopic observation, and then the expression of CD90 and CD105 markers assessed by flow cytometry. After confirming the pluripotency of the stem cells, a 18days differentiation protocol into IPCs began. Following that, pancreatic endocrine genes such as insulin, pdx1, glut2 and glucagon were analyzed using Real-Time PCR. Insulin and C-peptide release was assessed using ELISA. To investigate the effect of platelet-rich plasma on cell viability, the MTT test was performed. Results: Results showed that the use of the above-mentioned differentiation protocol, in the differentiation group containing PRP, the cells resembled Langerhans islet clusters. The expression of pancreatic endocrine genes in the differentiation group containing PRP was significantly higher than the other groups. Additionally, in two differentiation groups with and without PRP, the cells responded differently to glucose concentrations compared to insulin and C-peptide release. Furthermore, the rate of cell proliferation in the differentiation group containing PRP was higher than the other groups. Conclusion: Based on the availability of dental pulp stem cells and PRP, the absence of invasive methods for obtaining these resources, as well as the low immunogenicity due to the use of the patient's tissues, seems to be appropriate method for producing insulin-secreting cells.

Platelet rich plasma (PRP) is currently obtaining a natural concentration of autologous growth factors, and is used in different medical conditions. This review is aimed to establish several treatment options using adult PRP and scope of the therapeutic benefits of cord blood platelet rich plasma (CB-PRP) for future clinical directions. A literature search was done based on the clinical applications of PRP in the fields of dermatology, orthopaedic, dental, ophthalmology and gynaecology. The field keywords were searched in major indexing services for collecting the relevant articles from January 2010 to June 2023. PRP therapies are potential and efficient treatment options and established protocols for certain diseases but there is a need to establish CB-PRP opportunities of improving efficacy for promoting clinical application. Further research can focus on CB-PRP and it may be considered as immunologically compatible to use as allogenic.

Aim: This systematic review and meta-analysis aimed to assess individually the regenerative potential of PRF (Platelet-rich Fibrin), PRP (Platelet-rich Plasma), and PRGF (Plasma Rich in Growth Factors) in comparison to OFD (Open Flap Debridement) alone for treating Intrabony defects, by calculating pooled effect sizes. Postoperative management of esophagocutaneous fistulas in pediatric patients is challenging, often resulting in prolonged hospitalization and increased morbidity. Platelet-rich plasma (PRP) has emerged as a promising adjunctive treatment for such complications. We present the case of a 7-month-old infant who developed an esophago-cutaneous fistula following esophagocoloplasty for esophageal atresia type A. Despite initial conservative management, the fistula persisted, prompting the application of PRP gel derived from umbilical cord blood. After four applications of PRP, complete closure of the fistula was achieved, leading to both functional and aesthetic results. This case highlights the potential of PRP in managing refractory postoperative esophageal fistulas in pediatric patients and underscores the need for further research to optimize treatment protocols and validate its efficacy for this sort of complications [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Introduction. Bronchial fistula often occurs after lung surgery. This is an extremely severe complication with high mortality. Despite the variety methods for the treatment of bronchial fistula, the results are not always effective. In our paper, we presented a method of preventing the development of bronchial fistula based on the cell therapy. The objective of the study was to evaluate the effects of the cell therapy on the regeneration of damaged bronchial tissue in an experiment on non-human primates. Methods and materials. The study was performed on 6 non-human primates. Laboratory animals were divided into 2 groups: experimental and control. The left pneumonectomy with the formation of a stump of the main bronchus was done in each primate. In the experimental group, a regenerative product was introduced into the stump; in the control group, 0.9 % NaCl solution was used. The regenerative product consisted of autologous platelet-rich plasma activated by thermal lysis and the suspension of the xenogeneic fibroblast’s culture. The primates were observed for 7, 14 and 21 days, the peripheral blood was taken to study the dynamics of biologically active substances. A histological examination of the autopsy material was performed at the end of the follow-up time. Results. On the early postoperative period, a typical inflammatory reaction was observed and resulted by the intraoperative tissue damage. Then the morphological changes were different in both group. The inflammatory were mild, the restoration of the natural function of the mucous membrane and the formation of scar tissue were earlier in the experimental group than in the control group. An analysis of the dynamics of plasma mediators in the postoperative period revealed an earlier dominance of regenerative processes in the experimental group. Conclusion. The results of the study showed that the cell therapy stimulates the tissue regeneration, thereby preventing the failure of the bronchial stump suture.

We aimed to determine the efficacy of the various available oral, topical, and procedural treatment options for hair loss in individuals with androgenic alopecia. Using the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses guidelines, a systematic review of the National Library of Medicine was performed. Overall, 141 unique studies met our inclusion criteria. We demonstrate that many over the counter (e.g. topical minoxidil, supplements, low-level light treatment), prescription (e.g. oral minoxidil, finasteride, dutasteride), and procedural (e.g. platelet-rich plasma, fractionated lasers, hair transplantation) treatments successfully promote hair growth, highlighting the superiority of a multifaceted and individualized approach to management. Background: Platelet-rich plasma (PRP) is a therapeutic approach that is gaining attention for its potential in the treatment of poor ovarian response. This meta-analysis aimed to systematically review and analyze clinical studies to evaluate the impact of PRP on poor responders undergoing ovarian stimulation for IVF. Methods: A comprehensive search was conducted in electronic databases, including PubMed, Embase, Scopus, Web of Science, and the Cochrane Library to identify relevant studies published in English. The pooled data, such as pregnancy outcome, number of MII oocytes, number of transferable embryos, and ovarian reserve markers were analyzed using R version 4.2.3. Results: A total of 10 trials were enrolled in the present meta-analysis. Following PRP treatment, live birth rate was found to be 16.6% (95% CI 8.8%-26.1%), while clinical pregnancy rate was observed to be 25.4% (95% CI 13.1%-39.9%). PRP pretreatment resulted in a higher number of MII oocytes (MD 1.073, 95% CI 0.720 to 1.427), a higher number of embryos (MD 0.946, 95% CI 0.569 to 1.323), a higher antral follicle count (MD 1.117; 95% CI 0.689 to 1.544), and the change of hormone levels. Conclusions: Among the studies evaluated in this review, PRP showed promising results in poor responder. Background: Hair transplant surgery using follicular unit extraction technique (FUE) is a common surgical procedure for the treatment of prominent hair loss. This study aimed to determine the role of Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) in the procedure of Follicular Unit Extraction (FUE). Patients and methods: A prospective comparative study was carried out in Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery Department of Zagazig University Hospitals during the period from January 2019 to January 2020. It included 16 patients with androgenic alopecia, patients included in the study was divided into two groups according to receiving RPR or not, Group (1); eight Patients treated with FUE with PRP. Group (2); eight Patients treated with FUE without PRP. The median age and degree of medical comorbidities were comparable in the two groups. Hair density indices were compared using Trichoscope. Results: All eight patients treated with PRP showed a good hair regrowth, with prefect outcome. Of the eight patients treated without PRP, five showed a good hair regrowth, with good outcome. Conclusion: This study demonstrated that PRP treatment during the hair transplant plays a significant role in hair re-growth, and it remarkably improves density and quality of hair growth. Backgrounds/Aims: Ischemic reperfusion (I-R) injury is greatly influenced by the testicular torsion/detorsion process (TDP). In this instance, the anti-inflammatory properties of plateletrich plasma (PRP) combined with tadalafil (Td) significantly promote tissue healing in the I-R injury model. Methods: Five groups of rats were created: the control group, the I-R group not receiving any therapy, the I-R group receiving a single dosage of Td (0.25 mg/kg, I.P.), the I-R group receiving a single dose of PRP (80 l, intratesticular), and the I-R group receiving both Td and PRP. Sperm morphology, motility, and histology were assessed. The levels of TNF-, BAX, antioxidant status, and testosterone were measured. Additionally, E-selectin expression was done. Results: PRP reduced oxidative stress, inflammation, and apoptosis while also boosting testosterone levels, which alleviated I-R injury. Otherwise, PRP reduces E-selectin expression, which modifies the pathways that control endothelial function. Td also partially demonstrated its testicular-protective activity at the same time. Conclusion: PRP's proven anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, and antiapoptotic potentials make it a natural treatment for testicular harm caused by tadalafil. For the first time, it was demonstrated that PRP therapy restored the functionality of the vascular endothelium, specifically the control of E-selectin expression. Objective To determine the outcome of combination of microneedling with PRP in patients with post acne atrophic scars attending the Dermatology Department in a tertiary care hospital of Lahore. Methods A descriptive case series was performed on a total of 60 patients with post acne scars who fulfilled a predefined inclusion criterion. An informed consent was taken. Relevant information about the patient's demographic data and grade of acne scarring was noted along with baseline photography. All patients were given three sessions of microneedling with PRP at one month intervals, using standard treatment protocol and the scars were graded four weeks after the 3rd session using the same grading system. Photographs were taken at each visit and 3 weeks after the last visit. The effectiveness of treatment was determined as per decided operational definition. Data was analyzed using SPSS version 17. Results Total of 60 patients completed the study, having mean age of 28.65 years. Most of them were females. The effectiveness of treatment in terms of reduction in grade of acne scarring in one or more grades from baseline was observed in 78.33% (47), while in 21.67% (13) treatment was not effective. Autogenous Bone Graft is considered the safest material due to the compatibility of the material with the patient's body. A non-vascularized bone graft can apply growth factors such as Plateletrich-plasma (PRP) to catalyze bone healing. In Indonesia, no research currently analyzes PRP's application to autogenous bone grafts in jaw bone in vivo. To analyze the clinical effect of Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) application in non-vascularized autogenous bone graft in the mandible of Ovis aries sheep as a human model. A total of 24 Ovis aries sheep were classified as PRP and non-PRP groups. A defect on the sheep's mandible measuring 2 cm x 1.5 cm x 2cm was made, and the cut segment was then used as a scaffold. The cut segment was then refined into a mill using pestle and mortar and mixed with Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP). The analyzed variables were signs of infection before and after surgery and signs of inflammation such as wound temperature, hyperemia, and edema. Based on the results of statistical tests, there was no statistically significant difference in temperature, edema, and hyperemia between the PRP and non-PRP groups. Conclusion: PRP applied to mandibular defects does not affect the bone healing mechanism clinically. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
