A common approach to science in early education includes activities that depict science as a magic show rather than a method of reasoning. Discovery-based learning needs to be introduced early in the educational process, with a strong focus on the transition points where many students turn away from science careers. The ACS Strategic Plan has three key components: Science, the Public, and the Professional. Chemical education is central to all three of these components. A good educational system from K-20 is crucial for good science.
