Abstract
- The article presents information on two analytical chemistry graduate students selected by the American Chemical Society's Division of Analytical Chemistry Graduate Fellowship Committee who will receive nine-month fellowships during the 2005-2006. George Chan of Indiana University studies fundamental processes that occur in inductively coupled plasmas. His work aims to clarify the origin of matrix interferences to better understand the excitation and ionization mechanisms for analytes and their relationships to matrix effects. Christopher Easley of the University of Virginia is developing microfabricated systems for the integration of rapid noncontact DNA amplification with electrophoretic separation from nanoliter sample volumes.
