Connecting Past Traditions into the Uncertain Future.

The article reports on the plans of the author if he will be elected president of the American Chemical Society (ACS) in the U.S. If elected, the author will appoint a task force composed of members of the relevant ACS committees to work with educators, including chairs of science departments, administrative leaders in the sciences and in industry to address problems of making broader education and to provide solutions. He said that it is important to tell the story of DNA and genetics at every level, from kindergarten to elementary school to middle school and to high school to assure a science-educated public.
