- Abstract

Precariousness is a concept used to emphasize the unstable, uncertain and precarious nature of labor employment in today's working life. The standard form of employment of labor in the Fordist era was full-time, secure and formal employment. The meaning of the standard form of employment was the provision of conditions for labor to guarantee the process of production and reproduction. With the neoliberal transformation process, the standard form of employment has gradually eroded; flexible forms of employment have emerged that are shortterm, unstable and precarious. The link established in the Fordist era between being employed in terms of labor and being secure has been largely severed in today's conditions. This rupture makes labor's working and living conditions precarious, uncertain and precarious and fragile. When the literature on precariousness is examined, it is seen that precarious employment conditions are evaluated by focusing on disadvantaged groups in terms of bargaining power in the labor market. However, in today's working life, precaious employment and precarious living conditions are becoming increasingly common among advantageous groups in terms of bargaining power in the labor market. This study focuses on the precariousness experiences of engineers, who are among the advantageous groups in terms of bargaining power in the labor market. The sample group of the study consists of textile engineers working/worked in Bursa. In the first part, the experiences of precariousness in working life and the precariousness of engineers' labor are examined. In the second part, the development of the textile sector in the world and in Turkey and the transformations in textile engineering education in Turkey are evaluated. In the third part, in-depth interviews were conducted with eighteen textile engineers working/worked in Bursa using the semi-structured interview method. In this context, within the framework of pre-prepared questions, the working and living conditions of engineers and the opinions, thoughts and expectations of engineers to the textile industry, textile engineering education and the textile engineers’ organisation were evaluated. The aim of the study is to evaluate the precariousness experiences of textile engineers in depth together with the transformations in textile industry and textile engineering education in Turkey.

Tragopogon dubius and Tussilago farfara are consumed as vegetables and used in folk medicine to manage common diseases. Herein, the chemical compositions and biological activities of different leaf extracts (ethyl acetate, methanol, and water) of T. dubius and T. farfara were evaluated. The antibacterial, antifungal, and antioxidant abilities of the extracts were tested using different assays including free radical scavenging, reducing power, phosphomolybdenum, and metal chelating assays. Enzyme inhibitory potentials were evaluated against cholinesterases, tyrosinase, α-amylase and α-glucosidase. Complexes of bioactive compounds (chlorogenic and rosmarinic acid) were docked into the enzymatic cavity of α-glucosidase and subjected to molecular dynamic calculation, enzyme conformational stability, and flexibility analysis. T. dubius and T. farfara extracts showed remarkable antioxidant potentials. Ethyl acetate extracts of T. dubius and T. farfara were the most potent inhibitors of acetylcholinesterase and butyrylcholinesterase. T. dubius ethyl acetate extract and T. farfara methanolic extract showed noteworthy activity against α-glucosidase. High performance liquid chromatography analysis revealed the abundance of some phenolic compounds including chlorogenic and rosmarinic acids. Ethyl acetate extract of T. dubius showed notable antifungal activity against all strains. Docking studies showed best pose for chlorogenic acid was stabilized by a network of hydrogen bonds with residues Asp1157, Asp1279, whereas rosmarinic acid showed several hydrogen bonds with Asp1157, Asp1420, Asp1526, Lys1460 and Trp1369. This study further validates the use of T. dubius and T. farfara in traditional medicine, as well as act as a stimulus for further studies for future biomedicine development. Importance in transportation and distribution of our logistic activities has an a significant value in our countrys' increasing international trading volume. With factors like pollution, rise in traffic and the increase of accidents has raised the awareness for green, safe and reliable transportation. With this logic and nature friendly approaches, most of the causes pollution can be filtered or in worst case decreased. Therefore multimodal and intermodal transportation models which have less pollution on the world has gained more attention and importance. Some of the logistic companies in our country is already using the multimodal and intermodal transportation systems. In the multimodal and intermodel transportation systems; railways, sea and roads are being used in a hybridly manner. In this study, the application of the Turkish companies on multimodal and intermodal transportation has been examined with scanning technique. First part is an introduction to the study and an explanatation to why it has been studied. The second part is an liteature explantation with the history of the logistic systems. The status of the logistics industry in Turkey, the logistic villages, the importance and the different applications have been given as examples. Outsourcing in logistic applications have been mentioned. Third party of the study emphasizes the international transportation concept, the purpose, progress and the types of it. In the fourth part ; multimodal and intermodal transportation types, principal components and the pros & cons have been explained. Global examples have been given with a small study on its historic development. Fifth part is the `live` part where the companies with the application of multimodal and intermodal transportation systems have been analyzed with the responsible operational managers being interviewed and the analysis of Europe-Turkey routes, models and the area of activities taking place. The pros and cons of the multimodal and intermodal transportation systems in Europe have been studied and the most applied method `Ro-Ro`'s status and voyages in our country have been examined. This study will be enlightening for those who are seeking to see what they are doing wrong or better yet what they could do better in terms of logistics. For the international companies, it will be a guide to understand the multimodal and intermodal transportation systems better so they can take a decision on whats the best method for them and creating an action plan for companies. 120

- Abstract
AbstractTragopogon dubiusand Tussilago farfaraare consumed as vegetables and used in folk medicine to manage common diseases. Herein, the chemical compositions and biological activities of different leaf extracts (ethyl acetate, methanol, and water) of T. dubiusand T. farfarawere evaluated. T. dubiusand T. farfaraextracts showed remarkable antioxidant potentials. Ethyl acetate extracts of T. dubiusand T. farfarawere the most potent inhibitors of acetylcholinesterase and butyrylcholinesterase. T. dubiusethyl acetate extract and T. farfaramethanolic extract showed noteworthy activity against α-glucosidase. High performance liquid chromatography analysis revealed the abundance of some phenolic compounds including chlorogenic and rosmarinic acids. Ethyl acetate extract of T. dubiusshowed notable antifungal activity against all strains. This study further validates the use of T. dubiusand T. farfarain traditional medicine, as well as act as a stimulus for further studies for future biomedicine development.Communicated by Ramaswamy H. MYRTLE (Plants) ,ACETIC acid ,ANIMAL models of inflammation ,ETHANOL ,COLITIS - Abstract
The aim of this study was to evaluate the effect of ethanol extract from leaves of Myrtus communis subsp. communis (MC) on acetic acid (AA)-induced ulcerative colitis in rats. On the fourth day of colitis induction, all rats were decapitated. Colitis was assessed by macroscopic and microscopic scores and by measuring malondialdehyde (MDA) and glutathione (GSH) levels, myeloperoxidase (MPO) activity, luminol, lucigenin, nitric oxid and peroxynitrite chemiluminescence (CL). Colitis caused significant increases in the colonic MDA levels, MPO activity, CL values, macroscopic and microscopic damage scores along with significant decrease in tissue GSH level. However, treatment with MC extract reversed all these biochemical indices, as well as histopathological alterations induced by AA with the protective effects being similar to that of sulphasalazine treatment. The study showed that MC extract could alleviate colitis in rats and can be considered an alternative therapeutic approach for management of inflammatory bowel diseases (IBD). Practical Applications Myrtus communis subsp. communis leaves are used as antihypertensive, antitussive, antiemetic, diuretic, antidiarrheic, cardiotonic, antidiabetic and anti-inflammatory agents in folk medicine. This study revealed that the ethanol extract of the plant possesses significant anti-inflammatory activity, confirming its traditional use. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

We endeavoured to probe into and compare the possible effect(s) of different extraction techniques (accelerated solvent extraction (ASE), microwave-assisted extraction (MAE), ultrasonication-assisted extraction (UAE), maceration, and Soxhlet extraction (SE)) on the bioactivity (antioxidant and enzyme inhibitory activities) of the aerial parts of Helichrysum stoechas subsp. barrelieri (Ten.) Nyman. Total phenolic and flavonoid contents of the extracts obtained by different extraction methods followed the order of ASE > MAE > UAE > maceration > SE. Extract obtained by ASE was the most potent radical scavenger (219.92 and 313.12 mg Trolox equivalent [TE]/g, against 2,2-diphenyl-1-picrylhydrazyl (DPPH) and 2,2′-azino-bis(3-ethylbenzothiazoline-6-sulphonic acid (ABTS), respectively) and reducing agent (927.39 and 662.87 mg TE/g, for cupric reducing antioxidant capacity (CUPRAC) and ferric reducing antioxidant power (FRAP), respectively). Helichrysum stoechas extract obtained by UAE (18.67 mg ethylenediaminetetraacetic equivalent [EDTAE]/g) was the most active metal chelator and inhibitor of acetylcholinesterase (4.23 mg galantamine equivalent [GALAE]/g) and butyrylcholinesterase (6.05 mg GALAE/g) cholinesterase. Extract from maceration (183.32 mg kojic acid equivalent [KAE]/g) was most active against tyrosinase while ASE extract (1.66 mmol acarbose equivalent [ACAE]/g) effectively inhibited α-glucosidase. In conclusion, data amassed herein tend to advocate for the use of non-conventional extraction techniques, namely ASE and UAE, for the extraction of bioactive secondary metabolites from H. stoechas aerial parts.
