This study aims to explore the relation between trust-based management and new public management with the eye of the public sector in Sweden. Our ambition is to gain further practical understanding of the balance between trust and control within a specific municipal administration. With that in mind we have constructed the following framing of questions: (1) Which values, methods, and phrasing that are compatible with trust-based management and NPM (New Public Management) can be identified within the administration? (2) In what way does the studied administration balance trust with control? The methodological approach of the study involves a focus group interview conducted with three respondents, supplemented by a qualitative text analysis. The aim is to provide insight into the practical application of trust-based management and its relationship with new public management. Through the utilization of a focus group interview, coupled with an analysis of pertinent documents within the organization, this methodological choice aims to contribute to a relevant collection of empirical data that can address the research inquiries of the study. The empirical data gathered has subsequently been analyzed based on a theoretical framework of the managerial practices. Our study finds that certain aspects within the administration resonate with trust-based management, emphasizing trust in leadership, teamwork, and community. Additionally, there's a parallel emphasis on control and efficiency, aligning with new public management principles. While the administration predominantly leans towards trust-based management, incorporating some NPM-related practices, our study reveals a nuanced relationship between trust and control, indicating their coexistence without inherent conflicts in the governance approach.

Scalable processing of thin and robust solid-electrolyte (SE) separators is key for the commercialization of high-energy all-solid-state batteries (ASSBs). Herein, we report the preparation of Li6PS5Cl-based thin SE separators incorporating suitable binders for potential use in ASSBs by two scalable wet processing techniques: tape-casting with nitrile-butadiene rubber (NBR) and calendering with carboxylated nitrile butadiene rubber (XNBR). By means of tensile testing and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy, the influence of processing on the mechanical as well as the electrochemical properties of the resulting thin SE separators is investigated. A trade-off between the mechanical and electrochemical properties is observed, which is due to the inextricably linked microstructures (particle size, binder content and distribution, and porosity) induced by the two different processes. Thin SE separators prepared using the tape-casting method with the more well-distributed binder network demonstrate superior tensile mechanical properties compared to the ones prepared by the calendering method. The results provide insights into the processing-structure-property relationships of the thin SE separators, which will contribute to advancing the application of practical thin solid electrolytes in ASSBs.

Buddhist ethics are traditionally based on what Buddhists view as the enlightened perspective of Buddha, or other enlightened beings such as Bodhisattvas. The Indian term for ethics or morality used in Buddhism is one of three sections of the Noble Eightfold path, and is a code of conduct that embraces a commitment to harmony and self-restraint with the principal motivation being nonviolence, or freedom from causing harm. Ethics of Buddhism refers to a way living the right life, both theoretically as well as practically. Buddha himself explained the pragmatic attitude to his disciples. The fact that the Buddha renounced the world when his heart was overwhelmed at the sight of suffering, pain, disease and death itself goes to prove that his main concern was the redemption of suffering of humanity. The Four Noble Truths the Arya satays are the foundation of Buddhism. Taken as a whole, the Four Noble Truths and the Noble Eight-Fold path are emblematic of all the Buddha’s teachings. The four Noble Truths are woven throughout all of the Buddhist worlds. The Eight- Fold Path, too is representative of the path to enlightenment. Buddhist philosophy is basically practical in its approach. Buddha himself had attained nirvana or liberation. He has given the cause as well as remedy in form of eight-fold path for human suffering. Therefore, his analysis of human condition is practical and complete.

This article discusses a class cash financial management application designed to facilitate a class financial administrator in managing cash finances in an educational environment. This application provides features such as recording income and expenses, tracking transactions, automatic financial reports. The purpose of this application is to improve the efficiency, accuracy, and affordability of classroom financial information. Another advantage of this class cash financial management application is its ability in the reporting process. This application can generate automatic financial reports that can be customized as needed. This is very useful for reporting purposes to the authorities or for audit purposes. With this application, the process of preparing financial reports becomes faster, more accurate, and more efficient. Overall, this article discusses a class cash financial management application that provides benefits in financial management efficiency, easy access to information, and reporting capabilities. This application can be a useful tool for class financial administrators such as class treasurers in managing class cash finances more effectively and efficiently. The test results of this CashClass application show that this CashClass application functions properly in accordance with the requirements and expectations that have been set.

Bakgrund: Psykisk ohälsa i samhället ökar och många patienter har svårt att fullfölja behandling som involverar rörelse, vilket kan leda till livslånga symptom och än värre besvär. Starka och påfrestande emotioner har diskuterats som en anledning till bristande följsamhet sett till basal kroppskännedom, men andra orsaker kan också urskiljas. Syfte: Att beskriva fysioterapeuters erfarenhet och upplevelse av faktorer som kan påverka individens följsamhet till basal kroppskännedom som behandling inom psykisk ohälsa ur ett beteendemedicinskt perspektiv. Metod: Denna kvalitativa studie som bygger på sex semistrukturerade intervjuer har gjorts med en induktiv ansats. Resultat: Studien fångar upp en upplevd koppling mellan patientens sjukdom och symptom och bristande följsamhet. Vidare är informanternas erfarenhet och upplevelse att vem fysioterapeuten är, hur pass bra patienten förstår vad basal kroppskännedom är, att behandlingen är mer praktisk och involverar mindre prat, att det finns ett gott samarbete mellan fysioterapeut och patienten som leder till en allians samt vem patienten är kan ses som faktorer som tillsammans eller var för sig kan påverka följsamheten. Slutsats: Utifrån informanternas upplevelser och erfarenheter att det är nödvändigt att ta hänsyn till och hantera även psykologiska och sociala perspektiv hos patienten för att följsamhet till basal kroppskännedom ska uppstå., Background: Mental illness in society is increasing and many patients find it difficult to adhere to treatment that involves movement, which can lead to lifelong symptoms and increased problems. Strong and stressful emotions have been discussed as a reason for lack of adherence to basic body awareness, but other reasons can also be discerned. Aim: To describe physiotherapists' experiences of factors that can influence the individual's adherence to basic body awareness as treatment in mental illness from a behavioral medicine perspective. Method: This qualitative study, which is based on six semi-structured interviews, has been done with an inductive approach. Result: The study captures a perceived connection between the patient's illness and symptoms and lack of adherence. Furthermore, the informants' experience is who the physiotherapist is, how well the patient understands what basic body awareness is, that the treatment is more practical and involves less talking, that there is good cooperation between the physiotherapist and the patient which leads to an alliance and who the patient is can be seen as factors that together or individually can affect adherence. Conclusion: Based on the experiences of the informants, it is necessary to take into account and also to manage the psychological and social perspectives of the patient in order for adherence to basic body awareness treatment to occur.

Thinking style is one thing that can help students in solving problems by knowing the students' own style. The style of thinking is not an ability but more towards how to use the existing abilities of each individual.  Similarly, thinking skills can help students to solve problems and can make students smart in thinking about things. Thinking skills can be formulated as the process of using the mind to find a solution or understanding of something. Thinking skills also allow students to integrate each newly experienced experience into each individual’s mind box. The aim of this study was to identify the thinking style patterns and the level of thinking skills between the demographic factors among technical students. The design of this study was descriptive and inferential with a quantitative approach. A total of 273 technical students from the Faculty of Technical and Vocational Education (FPTV) at Universiti Tun Hussein Onn Malaysia (UTHM) were randomly selected as a sample covering the fields of Building Construction (BBB), Catering (BBC), Welding and Metal Fabrication (BBD), Electrical and Electronics (BBE), Creative Multimedia (BBF) and Refrigeration and Air Conditioning (BBG). A set of modified questionnaires from past studies were used as research instruments. Majority of technical students have a balanced thinking style and follow a critical and creative thinking style. The majority of all technical students at FPTV has a level of mastery of all three thinking skills analytical, practical and creative. Among the three types of skills, the majority of technical students have a level of mastery of high practical thinking skills, followed by creative thinking skills and analytical thinking skills. It is hoped that this study can provide guidance to students, lecturers and institutions to improve the Way of teaching and learning in accordance with the thinking style and thinking skills of students.

The study of water is without question an important one. We can learn a lot by studying the theory but in the end, it is essential to actually go out into the field and see the hydrological processes in practice for ourselves. The educational value of fieldwork lies not only in seeing theory become reality but also in experiencing the difficulties and limitations of gathering data first-hand. The water resources department of the Hanoi University of Natural Resources and Environment (HUNRE) wanted to expand its curriculum with a fieldwork excursion that will be part of three courses related to surface water, groundwater, and water quality. During our ten weeks in Vietnam, we assisted the teaching staff of the Water Management faculty in the development of these courses. We selected multiple experiments and found suitable locations for their execution, about a three-hour drive from the university. Several times we visited the fieldwork site together with students and teachers to explore the catchment, perform experiments, and gather data. For every experiment, a comprehensive manual was written with accompanying assignments and sheets tailor-made for the fieldwork excursion. All manuals are combined into a practical document that can be brought into the field. The experiments require a wide variety of specific pieces of equipment. Most but not all of these were present at the university. With financial support from the Orange Knowledge Project (OKP), we were able to repair existing equipment and acquire new equipment that was lacking in order to facilitate the experiments that were deemed essential. We also re-organized part of the water lab where all equipment is stored to improve the equipment’s maintenance and organization. With the completion of this project, we believe to have made a contribution to the improvement of the quality of education at HUNRE. Todo plan, programa o proyecto ha de ser diseñado desde el terreno, la formación, la experiencia y con la aportación de distintas personas. Lo que pretendo con el presente TFM, es aplicar lo aprendido en este Máster Interuniversitario en Cooperación al Desarrollo, de la forma más práctica posible, esto es, respondiendo a una necesidad de la entidad (Cáritas Diocesana de Valladolid), para la que trabajo y coordino su área de cooperación internacional. Es por ello que he realizado una propuesta de Plan Estratégico de Cooperación Internacional, teniendo en cuenta tanto la situación actual como el contexto, y así poder formular unos objetivos a largo plazo y las acciones específicas (estrategias) que se van a llevar a cabo para alcanzarlos. Para lo cual, esta propuesta está alineada con el Plan Estratégico de Cáritas Diocesana de Valladolid y con el de Cáritas Española, ambos puestos en marcha en este año 2020. The problem is that members of Watchmen on the Walls Supernatural International Ministries are not having successful results when they share the gospel message locally. The purpose of this DMIN Project is to equip unisex adults and adolescent members of Watchmen on the Walls Supernatural International Ministries to conduct evangelism. The thesis project seeks to design a plan to enhance the knowledge and abilities of WWSIM members to share the gospel effectively. The design is a theoretical and practical training plan that will impact twelve participants in the classroom, on the streets, and in a coordinated outreach in one of New York city’s parks in the borough of Queens. Communities adjoining the location of WWSIM’s sanctuary will be impacted. Participants are required to do interviews and complete surveys at the end of each teaching session. This thesis project will be influential to pastors, ministry leaders, and congregants alike. One of its focuses is practical evangelism. This demonstrates that sharing the gospel is not limited to the proclamation of the message only, but any act of love and kindness that communicates the love of Jesus to recipients by helping to meet their essential needs is sharing the gospel. This requires leaders to visit their church communities. Ministry leaders who make their presence known in the community gain the confidence of the residents. This prepares the way for the proclamation of the gospel and results in the persuasion that will lead to a decision.

Conducting at the VII grade in SMPN 1 Batudaa, SMPN 2 Batudaa, and SMP Muhammadiyah Batudaa, this study aimed to develop and describe the quality of the critical question-based guided inquiry learning model in order to improve students' critical thinking skills on the concepts of temperature and heat. The development method used is Research and Development with a 4D development model, namely define, design, development, and disseminate. The results of this study indicated that: 1) the validation of the guided inquiry learning model based on critical questions is declared valid with minor revisions, 2) the practicality of the learning model is determined by the average percentage of learning implementation that gets a very good category throughout the trial class and the teacher's response model and response. Students obtained through questionnaires gave a positive response, 3) the effectiveness of the learning model was determined through the average percentage of student activities obtained in the active and very active categories; meanwhile, the results of the critical thinking skills test obtained the completeness of the average posttest score with a very good category with high N-gain analysis ( 0.7), an increase in critical thinking skills in students is evidenced by an increase in the average value from pretest to posttest on each critical thinking indicator with high N-gain analysis. Based on the results of this study, it was concluded that science learning using the Guided Inquiry learning model based on Critical Questions had met the valid, practical, and effective criteria for improving students' thinking skills.

This research aims to develop and produce digital teaching materials products using Macromedia flash application that are valid, practical and effective. This research method refers to a 4D development, and disseminate. Research instruments in the form of validation sheets by material expert and media expert to measure validity; questionnaires of learners; responses to measure practicality; and test of learning outcomes to measure effectiveness. The trial of teaching materials was conducted to class VII learners at SMPN 6 Makassar. The result showed that digital teaching materials developed using Macromedia flash applications in class VII junior high school comparison materials had valid criteria with validity score of 3.70 for the material and 3.50 for media, practically score of 3.60 for small groups and 3.51 for large groups, and effective with an effectiveness score of 90% for small groups and 86%.

This paper is tailored towards investigating the teaching and learning of Entrepreneurship as a compulsory course of study as a means of combating the high rate of unemployment among Nigerian undergraduates. It focused on assessment of entrepreneurship education undertaken by Library and Information Science students in Imo State University, Owerri. It was guided by five (5) research questions. Survey research design was adopted for the study while the 87 final students of Library and Information Science in the 2019/20 academic session was the population of the study. Rating scale was used as instrument for data collection and frequencies and percentages were used to analyse the data collected. Findings of the study showed that: the major contents of Entrepreneurship Education in Imo State University are business skills, preservation techniques, electronic resource management, strategic planning and developing business plan; the methods adopted in Entrepreneurship Education are experimental/practical learning, practical projects/presentations and interactive learning; resources available for Entrepreneurship Education are; qualified lecturers, textbooks and raw materials. It was further discovered that Inculcating the spirit of self-reliance, helping to fight unemployment, helping individuals to explore their strengths and encouraging small/medium scale enterprises are the perceived benefits of entrepreneurship Education by the students. The factors militating against effective Entrepreneurship Education are no equipped laboratories and inadequate lecture halls. It was recommended that: the course content should be tailored towards library related areas, visiting entrepreneurship centres should be adopted which will help to widen the knowledge of the students and school management should provide equipped laboratories for Entrepreneurship Education and enough lecture halls among others.

The concept of practical liberal education emphasizes integrated learning oriented to all student groups, practical problems in the real-world, project-based learning and experience exploration. The maturity of this concept indicates that traditional liberal education has entered a new historical stage in the United States, which is deeply rooted in external economic and socio-political changes, historical controversies of liberal and occupational-professional education, the theoretical outcomes of liberal education and the exploration experience of colleges and universities. The concept of practical liberal education is a result of a reorientation of traditional liberal education in the new historical context and culture of America, which provides creative solutions to tensions between “professional” and “general knowledge”, “teaching” and “research”, and the “individual” and “community”. This paper clarifies the concept and analyzes the generative dynamic mechanism of practical liberal education, aiming to provide insight into the development trends of liberal education and enlighten teaching integration and higher education reform.

Els docents invertim molt de temps preparant recursos i defnint estratègies metodològiques per incrementar el rendiment acadèmic del nostre alumnat. Però a la pràctica sovint ens trobem amb situacions que ens obliguen a improvisar per diversos motius que no sempre són els mateixos. A vegades la solució més encertada hipotèticament no acaba essent la solució més òptima o funcional a la pràctica i això és una realitat amb la qual hem de treballar a diari. No existeix un consens a l'àmbit educatiu sobre una pauta a seguir en la gestió d'una aula ni en els continguts que asseguri «l'èxit» en termes didàctics. Com a professor novell vaig detectar difcultats per posar en pràctica els coneixements adquirits durant la Formació del Màster del Professorat en el període del Practicum on vaig compaginar les pràctiques amb la substitució d'una professora del propi centre. Aquestes «difcultats» van requerir molt temps d'anàlisi i de reflexió que fnalment van comportar una millora sensible sobretot en l'efciència de les classes. Aquest treball recull tota la informació que va ser objecte d'estudi i que culmina en una sèrie de criteris sufcientment generals que poden ser aplicats per altres professors i professores sense que el centres els seus recursos o el context d'aquests siguin condicionants per assolir un bon rendiment acadèmic., Los docentes invertimos mucho tiempo preparando recursos y defniendo estrategias metodológicas para incrementar el rendimiento académico de nuestro alumnado. Pero en la práctica solemos encontrar situaciones que nos obligan a improvisar por diversos motivos. Como profesora novicia detecté difcultades para poner en práctica los conocimientos adquiridos durante la Formación del Máster del Profesorado en periodo de Prácticass las cuales compaginé con una substitución de otra profesora titular del centro. Estas “difcultadess requirieron mucho tiempo de análisis y reflexión que fnalmente condujeron a una mejora sensible sobretodo en la efciencia de las clases. Este trabajo recoge toda la información objeto de estudio y culmina en una serie de criterios transversales que permiten su réplica sin que afecten los condicionantes como el modelo de escuela o recursos para garantizar un buen rendimiento académico., Teachers spend half of their personal time developing resources for student’s learning effectiveness but those might not succeed in a real context. When this happens we have to improvise quickly a new exercise in that classroom. The most of times the Theory stays in an abstract concept hard to be achieved. Certain diffculties arose from the Practicum period at the Masters in Secondary Level Teacher Formation. Deep thinking about these diffculties encouraged me to be focused on Teacher Effectiveness. This work gathered thousands of meta-analysis about this staff. A fve stage transversal criteria can be replicated for any teacher of any kind of school at any education level as a result since its success is guaranteed

In this contribution we discuss the possibilities of the distrometer or videodistrom-eter measurement. Firstly we describe brie°y what outputs are given through the videodistrom-eter measurement: equivolumetric rain drop diameter, fall velocity, oblateness etc. From these quantities we derive the one minute drop size distributions (DSDs) and from it pertinent radar refectivity factors Z, rain rates R, speci¯c rain attenuations of hypothetical microwave link A and rain kinetic energies Ek. 2017 and 2018 videodistrometer data from Prague were applied. Scatterplots EkR, EkZ A-Z and A-R are shown. In two last relations the unambiguity as a function of frequency was discussed it was observed that the unambiguity is maximal at 25 GHz frequency and minimal at 100 GHz for investigated frequencies from 10 to 100 GHz. For A-R relations the unambiguity was estimated also through the coe±cient of determination for the power law approximation., V tomto příspěvku diskutujeme o možnostech měření distrometru nebo videodistromu. Nejprve popíšeme, jaké výstupy jsou poskytovány prostřednictvím videodistrometrického měření: ekvivolumetrický průměr kapek deště, rychlost pádu, oblateness atd. Z těchto veličin, které odvodíme z jedné minutové distribuce velikosti kapek (DSD) a z toho příslušný faktory radarové odrazivosti Z, dešťové rychlosti R, specifické útlumy hypotetického mikrovlnného spoje A deštěm a dešťové kinetické energie Ek. Byly použity data z videodistrometrických dat 2017 a 2018 z Prahy. Jsou zobrazeny rozptyly EkR, EkZ A-Z a A-R. Ve dvou posledních vztazích byla diskutována jednoznačnost jako funkce frekvence, bylo pozorováno, že jednoznačnost je maximální na 25 GHz frekvence a minimální na 100 GHz pro zkoumané frekvence od 10 do 100 GHz. Pro A-R vztahy jednoznačnosti byly odhadnuty také pomocí koeficientu determinace pro mocninnou aproximaci.

This research concerns the problem of scheduling aircraft maintenance tasks, that must be carried in multiple maintenance checks to keep the aircraft airworthy. During this research the allocation of maintenance tasks to their maintenance opportunities is referred to as the task allocation problem. It is a complex combinatorial problem that is solved daily by aircraft operators.We propose a novel two-stage framework capable of solving the task allocation problem, for an entire fleet. A Mixed-Integer Linear Programming (MILP) formulation was developed for both stages of the framework. In the first stage an exact method is used to pre-determine the workforce to allocate per day to each aircraft under maintenance. In the second stage, the task allocation problem is solved in- dependently for each aircraft, allocating task at the work shift level and per workforce skill. Moreover, an approximation algorithm is proposed, using bin packaging problem solution techniques, for both stages of the framework.Both stages were tested and validated using data of 45 aircraft from a European airline. The compu- tational performance of the approximation algorithm is benchmarked using a MILP formulation, solved with a commercial solver. Results indicate that the solution quality of the proposed algorithm remains excellent and runs up to 26 times faster than the exact method.This research is the first to present an optimization model to solve the maintenance task allocation problem, being solved at the work shift level. Furthermore, it presents a bin-packaging approximation algorithm that can be solved within minutes for the 45 aircraft fleet and a planning horizon of 4 years. Genome-wide association study-identified prostate cancer risk variants explain only a relatively small fraction of its familial relative risk, and the genes responsible for many of these identified associations remain unknown. To discover novel prostate cancer genetic loci and possible causal genes at previously identified risk loci, we performed a transcriptome-wide association study in 79,194 cases and 61,112 controls of European ancestry. Using data from the Genotype-Tissue Expression Project, we established genetic models to predict gene expression across the transcriptome for both prostate models and cross-tissue models and evaluated model performance using two independent datasets. We identified significant associations for 137 genes at P < 2.61 × 10-6, a Bonferroni-corrected threshold, including nine genes that remained significant at P < 2.61 × 10-6 after adjusting for all known prostate cancer risk variants in nearby regions. Of the 128 remaining associated genes, 94 have not yet been reported as potential target genes at known loci. We silenced 14 genes and many showed a consistent effect on viability and colony-forming efficiency in three cell lines. Our study provides substantial new information to advance our understanding of prostate cancer genetics and biology. SIGNIFICANCE: This study identifies novel prostate cancer genetic loci and possible causal genes, advancing our understanding of the molecular mechanisms that drive prostate cancer.

The article describes the procedures for evaluating the results of training in biology. The mechanisms for monitoring the learning outcomes of a biology teacher are presented. Examples of algorithms for procedures for evaluating learning outcomes in biology are demonstrated.

This work was based on the proposals made by CSIC at School for innovative methods of teaching science. Over the past few years CSIC at School has successfully incorporated archaeology into its programmes, as it is a field that offers many possibilities to teach science to early education students. Moreover, its relation with other subjects favours interdisciplinary perspectives, which helps overcome teaching challenges related to a multidimensional study programme. People are generally very interested in the daily activity of archaeology and its role in researching history. However, like history, archaeology does not seem relevant in the majority of contemporary societies. In fact, its 'usefulness' is often questioned, which, unfortunately, is a common situation in Social and Human Sciences. This guide seeks to help dispel these myths by proposing to use archaeology to teach science in the classroom. The project has demonstrated that updating the scientific training of teachers and searching for innovative teaching methods is becoming increasingly necessary.

With increasing demand for innovative practice in the classroom, there are more and more educators across the globe seeking to instill the authentic, educational experience in their classroom. This curriculum empowers Deaf students to bridge classroom learning to the real business world, providing opportunities for students to generate, investigate, and examine their business ideas. From a modeled sample classroom business idea, the Deaf students were successful in designing their own business plan. All lessons provide the one-of-the-kind bilingual business education in American Sign Language (ASL) to advance academic English. During the implementation, the students learned business components, understood marketing strategies, analyzed the Strength, Weakness, Opportunity, and Threat (SWOT) portions of their business plan for their entrepreneurial venture, examined their business idea through market sampling, and then designed the business plan for the final presentation. Based on the methods of data collection, e.g. rubrics, formative and summative assessments, and documented observations and reflections, all of the curriculum goals were satisfactorily met.

Studiens syfte är att utveckla vårt arbetssätt i musik och hem- och konsumentkunskap samt öka förutsättningarna för elevers förmåga att kombinera teori och praktik. Forskning om lärande i utbildningssammanhang visar stort intresse för begrepp som teori och praktik, vilket vi tar fasta på i föreliggande studie. Studien har en aktionsforskande ansats där vi för in aktioner i både musik- och hem- och konsumentkunskapsundervisning. Aktionerna har genomförts i årskurs åtta och nio. De valda aktionerna gick ut på att synliggöra hur eleverna utifrån valda aktioner arbetade med och kombinerade teori och praktik i våra ämnen. Vi har genom att vi filmat eleverna under deras arbete och sedan analyserat materialet fått fram tre huvudteman: elever visar, elever använder begrepp och elever visar och använder begrepp. Eleverna uttryckte sig i vissa situationer enbart teoretiskt och i andra situationer enbart praktiskt. I resultatet tycker vi oss se att om eleverna använder sig av begrepp de är vana vid i ämnet samt får möjlighet att använda redskap för att förtydliga vad de menar, bidrar det till att lärandet går djupare. Samlärande, vilket aktionerna uppmuntrade, tycks också fungera bättre när eleverna både visar praktiskt och beskriver vad de gör med kända begrepp. Implikationerna för vår fortsatta undervisning är att det behövs ett aktivt arbete både från lärarens och elevens sida för att kunna koppla samman det teoretiska med det praktiska arbetet. Det är även viktigt att eleverna känner till och kan använda ämnesspecifika begrepp., The aim of this study is to develop our working methods regarding the subjects of Music and Domestic Science, as well as develop the necessary tools to enable pupils to combine both theory and practice. Research relating to learning for educational purposes shows great interest in terminology such as “theory and practice”, which we have focused on in our presented study. The study has an action research approach where we have applied teaching actions in both Music and Domestic Science. The actions have been carried out for school years eight and nine. The chosen actions were to make transparent how pupils work with, and combine theory and practice in our subjects. We have through filming the pupils during their work and subsequent analysis of the material come to three main themes: pupils show, pupils use terminology and pupils show and use terminology. The pupils expressed themselves in some situations purely theoretical and in other situations only practically. Our conclusion is that deeper learning was possible for pupils that expressed themselves in terms that they normally use in the subject and had the possibility to use utensils to explain what they were doing. Cooperative learning, which the actions encouraged, was considered to work well when the pupils showed both practical as well as described what they did with already known terminology. The implications for our continued lessons are that active work is needed both by teachers and pupils in order to combine the theoretical with the practical work, as well as the importance in that pupils know and can use subject-specific terminology.

There has been a continuous increase in enrolments within teacher education programs in recent years delivered via online and external modes. Such levels of enrolment have raised discussion around the theory-practice nexus and whether pre-service teachers (PSTs) can optimally engage with practical learning components via online platforms. This paper provides insight into the potential and feasibility of using GoPro video technology as an innovation in online teacher education delivery of practical physical education (PE) classes. Upon completion of the university semester, qualitative data was collected detailing the generalist PSTs’ perceptions relating to the potential of using GoPro video footage to capture practical PE classes. Field note observations also documented implementation considerations for integrating GoPro technology into practical PE lessons. The findings from the GoPro trial provide valuable insight for teacher education providers for future planning and delivery of university practical PE classes online

This study aim was to establish the availability and use of Digital Educational Technology Media Resources (DETMRs) for the teaching of practical in Biology using virtual specimens. This necessitated by environmental changes caused by human activities and climate change affecting the availability of living things for the teaching of practical in Biology. This survey study carried on the teachers of Biology for the teaching of practical in Biology in 36 Public Secondary Schools (PSS) in Kakamega County, Western Kenya. The study guidance based on the constructivist theory of learning. Thirty-six PSS were randomly sampled, three from each of the twelve sub-counties of Kakamega County for data collection. For each sample school, the respondents were the Principals, Heads of Department (Science) and three teachers of Biology. The data was collected by interviewing of the Principals, while a questionnaire for the teachers of Biology and direct classroom observation schedule. The data collected analyzed by descriptive and inferential statistics, Chi-Square (X2) at a level of 0.05 of the statistics of significance. The findings indicated that there were no adequate DETMRs in the PSS; the teachers lacked knowledge and skills towards the use of DETMRs in the teaching of practical in Biology. The study may benefit curriculum planners, teacher-education preparation programme developers and stakeholders in science education in improving the teaching strategies of practical in Biology.This may enhance conservation of the Biodiversity of living things for a future generation without destruction of the natural environment by collecting diminishing species of living things for the teaching practical in Biology. As a digital era, all may impress a new paradigm shift in Biology practical instruction in a virtual teaching/learning environment. The recommendations are: to provide enhanced intensive teacher-education preparation programmes incorporating DETMRs for professional development of teachers of Biology. The teacher-education preparation programs to review technological, pedagogical and content knowledge base for the use of DETMRs in the teaching of the practical in Biology in the field, classroom, and laboratories.

Objective. To identify the care models and the impactof the use of these in the care of people with chronicdiseases reported in the literature in the years 2000 to2014.Methods. Integrative literature review in which thefollowing guiding question was adopted: Which care modelsare used in the care of patients with chronic diseases andwhat impacts can be verified through their application?We consulted the bibliographic databases Virtual HealthLibrary, LILACS, MEDLINE, Spanish Bibliographic Indexof Health Sciences and the Database of Nursing. Results.The sample consisted of 17 articles on the topic of interest.Three categories emerged from the analysis: healthcare costs, model-based care experience, and patientautonomy. The articles addressed self-management, casemanagement and care model for people with chronicdiseases. The major impacts on the use of the modelswere: a better relationship between the patient and thehealth professional, an increase in the autonomy of theperson with chronic illness, and a reduction in personaland health care expenditure.Conclusion. The use of care models for people with chronic diseases presents benefits to the patient and to the health system. Resultados. A amostra foi composta de 17 artigos sobre o tema de interesse. Na análise emergiram três categorias: custos em saúde, experiência do cuidado com base em um modelo e autonomia do paciente. Os artigos abordaram a autogestão, a gestão de casos e o modelo de cuidados para pessoas com doenças crônicas. Os impactos da utilização dos modelos foram: melhor relação do paciente com o profissional de saúde, aumento da autonomia da pessoa com doença crônica e redução dos gastos em saúde. Conclusão. O uso de modelos de cuidados para as pessoas com doenças crônicas apresenta benefícios para o paciente e para o sistema de saúde. Del análisis emergieron tres categorías: los costos del cuidado de la salud, la experiencia de atención basada en un modelo y la autonomía del paciente. Los artículos abordaron la autogestión, la gestión de casos y el modelo de cuidado a personas con enfermedades crónicas. Los mayores impactos en la utilización de los modelos fueron: una mejor relación del paciente con el profesional de salud, aumento de la autonomía de la persona con enfermedad crónica y la reducción del gasto en salud personal y del sistema sanitario. Conclusión. La utilización de modelos de cuidado de personas con enfermedades crónicas presenta beneficios al paciente y al sistema de salud, modelos en los cueles los enfermeros deben participar activamente en su aplicación.

Ce travail de recherche s’intéresse au renouvellement de la pratique de l’artiste d’effets visuels de simulation en industrie. Le contexte de pratique en industrie implique désormais des modèles de production de plus en plus rationalisés et rigides posant plusieurs défis et inconforts chez les artistes. Au fil des années, le problème ressenti dans l’expérience de travail du praticien renvoie à une fatigue esthétique à l’égard des tâches à accomplir, c’est-à-dire à un désintéressement, désenchantement, une perte de plaisir dans l’acte de création, contrairement à la vive passion qui l’animait le début de sa carrière. La pratique en industrie n’apporte pas d’opportunités suffisamment intéressantes au praticien artiste à poursuivre son développement et sa quête de sens ; trop peu de place à l’exploration, à la découverte, à la surprise, mais au contraire, sa conduite devient réglée et soumise aux réglages et procédures imposées par le choix des studios pour l’emploi des technologies numériques. Découlant ainsi des structures de travail où s’exerce notre pratique professionnelle, ce malaise serait idéalement surmontable en revisitant les techniques traditionnelles de création des effets visuels. Le projet de création va aller en ce sens en visant ultimement à nous permettre de retrouver le plaisir de créer des effets visuels. Circulating insulin-like growth factors (IGFs) and their binding proteins (IGFBPs) are associated with prostate cancer. Using genetic variants as instruments for IGF peptides, we investigated whether these associations are likely to be causal. We identified from the literature 56 single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) in the IGF axis previously associated with biomarker levels (8 from a genome-wide association study [GWAS] and 48 in reported candidate genes). In ∼700 men without prostate cancer and two replication cohorts (N ∼ 900 and ∼9,000), we examined the properties of these SNPS as instrumental variables (IVs) for IGF-I, IGF-II, IGFBP-2 and IGFBP-3. Those confirmed as strong IVs were tested for association with prostate cancer risk, low (< 7) vs. high (≥ 7) Gleason grade, localised vs. advanced stage, and mortality, in 22,936 controls and 22,992 cases. IV analysis was used in an attempt to estimate the causal effect of circulating IGF peptides on prostate cancer. Published SNPs in the IGFBP1/IGFBP3 gene region, particularly rs11977526, were strong instruments for IGF-II and IGFBP-3, less so for IGF-I. Rs11977526 was associated with high (vs. low) Gleason grade (OR per IGF-II/IGFBP-3 level-raising allele 1.05; 95% CI: 1.00, 1.10). Using rs11977526 as an IV we estimated the causal effect of a one SD increase in IGF-II (∼265 ng/mL) on risk of high vs. low grade disease as 1.14 (95% CI: 1.00, 1.31). Because of the potential for pleiotropy of the genetic instruments, these findings can only causally implicate the IGF pathway in general, not any one specific biomarker.

Syftet med denna kvalitativa studie är att genom enkäter undersöka om det finns en diskrepans mellan det teoretiska begreppet resiliens och den empiriska tillämpningen. För att besvara denna fråga undersöks följande delfrågor: Vad ingår i olika teoretiska resiliensbegrepp? Hur ser innebörden av resiliensbegreppet ut hos svenska krishanteringsaktörer idag? Hur arbetar svenska krishanteringsaktörer för resiliens för att göra städer säkrare i framtiden? Denna studie ska vara till hjälp för krishanteringsaktörer i deras förståelse för vad resiliensbegreppet är och finna kunskap i dessa tre resilienskoncept för att kunna använda det i sitt praktiska arbete när de talar om att arbeta för resiliens. I denna studie har tjugosex stycken enkäter skickats ut till personer som på något sätt arbetar med krishantering. Respondenterna arbetar på olika nivåer (kommun, länsstyrelse, myndighet, privat sektor samt forskare). Forskning och teorier kring resiliens kommer baseras på Brian Walker & David Salt som beskriver ingenjörsteknisk resiliens och ekologisk resiliens i boken Resilience thinking därefter förklarar Ulrich Beck enligt boken Risksamhället hur man måste arbeta för framtiden och inte se bakåt för att planera efter det som skett i dåtid. To answer this question this study examines the following issues: What is included in various theoretical resilience concept? What is the meaning of the resilience concept at the Swedish crisis management actors today? How does the Swedish crisis management actors use resilience to make cities safer in the future? This study will be helpful for crisis management actors in their understanding of what the resilience concept and find the knowledge of these three concepts to use it in their practical work when they talk about working for resilience. In this study, twenty-six questionnaires was sent out to people who in some way are involved in crisis management. The respondents in this study work at different levels (municipal, county government, government, private sector and researchers). There is a tsunami of literature on the need to demonstrate the value of libraries, and what to measure to achieve that goal. The driving force behind the production and consumption of this literature is the growing consciousness of the impact of the digital age on the library business model. While this is not a book about the strategic directions libraries should take, the journalist's comments do raise two issues that are absolutely critical to turning the content of this book into something useful for your library or organization. The first is that even though the journalist's comments could be written off as glib and sar­ castic, and it is quite possible some librarians would find those comments offensive, they do carry a kernel of truth. There has been much angst, without much in the way of solutions. So, if your ultimate motivation in reading this book is to uncover the "truth," to find an alternative business model, then you are putting things in the wrong order, and setting yourself up to fail.

To assess the risk factors for stress inundergraduate students of nursing in clinical practicein a public university in the Northeast region of Brazil.Methods. Cross-sectional descriptive study with 116students from the fifth to the ninth period. The bilingualKEZKAK questionnaire, validated for Portuguese, wasused. Stress was considered to be present when thescore was equal or superior to 2. Results. The studentswith stress in clinical practice were 18 to 22 yearsold (2.82 ± 0.98), women (2.81 ± 0.96), married(2.80 ± 0.97), and who were permanent contractedemployees (2.74 ± 0.94). The factors which weremost associated with stress were: Lack of competence(2.99 ± 0.88); Impotence and uncertainty (2.98 ±0.85); and Patients seeking a closer relationship (2.93± 1.01). The students of the sixth period were themost vulnerable to stress (2.85±0.96). Conclusion.The studies showed the main risk factors for stressamong students of nursing in their clinical practice.These results could be used in the development ofstrategies seeking to reduce stress in this context aswell as to contribute to promoting mental health., Objetivo. Os estudantes com estresse na prática clínica encontraram-se no grupo de18 a 22 anos (2.82 ± 0.98), mulheres (2.81 ± 0.96), casados (2.80 ± 0.97), e que possuíam vínculo empregatício (2.74 ± 0.94). Os fatores mais condicionantes para estresse foram: Falta de competência (M=2.99, DP=0.88); Impotência e incerteza (M=2.98, DP=0.85); O paciente busca uma relação íntima (M=2.93, DP=1.01). Os académicos do sexto período foram os mais vulneráveis para o estresse (2.85±0.96).. Conclusão. O estudo mostrou os principais fatores de risco para o estresse entre alunos de enfermagem na sua prática clínica. the primary objectives of this research study are to increase awareness and the need for research regarding the importance of the independently owned hotel sector and to provide managers of these properties with forecasting tools that may enhance hotels' competitiveness. The operational challenges of independently hotels are unique as well as their needs. Accordingly, potential challenges of these properties are reviewed to stress the need for forecasting and to determine tools that are reliable and at the same time account for the challenges unique to independent hotels. The comparison of strengths and weaknesses of commonly used forecasting tools shows that time series models may be both reliable and practical for the managers of independently owned hotels to use.

This project utilizes visual and critical thinking approaches to develop a higher-education synergistic prelab training program for a large second-year undergraduate analytical chemistry class, directing more of the cognitive learning to the prelab phase. This enabled students to engage in more analytical thinking prior to engaging in the analytical action in the laboratory, motivating students to arrive at classes prepared to engage in the material rather than the mechanics (physical processes) of the practical exercises. This reduced the likelihood of cognitive overload at the beginning of the class. Video demonstrations were developed providing both visual demonstrations with audio explanations to reinforce each concept, and students were guided to these through compulsory prelab e-quizzes. The effectiveness of the program was evaluated by academic performance and an attitudinal survey. Attitudes toward the prelab program were very positive, particularly for the e-quizzes. There was no improvement on academic performance in laboratory reports; however, students reported that the prelab material had a positive effect on their learning, and that they were able to enter the laboratory with high levels of perceived preparedness. Given that student experiences in the laboratory are arguably as important as assessable outcomes, an attitudinal study such as this is extremely important.

Transformational leadership is one of the most researched leadership theories, but sometimes misunderstood by managers who believe that to be a transformational leader requires them to be charismatic and in some way extraordinary. Similarly, some sportspeople and sports coaches may be truly transformational in their achievements and yet not receive the same recognition as their more flamboyant colleagues. In this chapter, several similarities are identified between managerial coaching and transformational leadership. Some differences were also identified. Where there are similarities, it is argued that adopting coaching practices can help managers to put transformational leadership into practice and gain the associated benefits, whether in business or sporting organizations.

The results of psychometric analysis of the new technique of thinking styles diagnostics are presented. The fundamental principles of thinking style concept by A. Belousova, according to which the thinking style is determined by the dominance of a person’s function in the structure of thinking activity during the problem solving, are covered. In accordance with A. Belousova’s ideas that the collaborative thinking activity as a self-organizing system is carried out by means of functions assumed by each participant: function of generating ideas, the function of selection (review and evaluation of information), functions of sense transfer and function of implementation. Thinking of adult, acting as a complex self-organizing system, combines the same functions: generation, selection, sense transfer and implementation. In this connection, we believe that the thinking style is defined as a characteristic set of functions actualized by a person in different situations of the problem solving. Domination of generation function determines the development of initiative thinking style, selection - critical, sense transfer - administrative, implementation - practical. The results of testing the reliability and validity of a new questionnaire for the thinking style diagnostics on a representative sample of Russians are given. The author’s version of the questionnaire is presented.

This paper presents a novel methodology to generate deposition paths for wire and arc additive manufacturing (WAAM). The medial axis transformation (MAT), which represents the skeleton of a given geometry, is firstly extracted to understand the geometry. Then a deposition path that is based on the MAT is efficiently generated. The resulting MAT-based path is able to entirely fill any given cross-sectional geometry without gaps. With the variation of step-over distance, material efficiency alters accordingly for both solid and thin-walled structures. It is found that thin-walled structures are more sensitive to step-over distance in terms of material efficiency. The optimal step-over distance corresponding to the maximum material efficiency can be achieved for various geometries, allowing the optimization of the deposition parameters. Five case studies of complex models including solid and thin-walled structures are used to test the developed methodology. Experimental comparison between the proposed MAT-based path patterns and the traditional contour path patterns demonstrate significant improved performance in terms of gap-free cross-sections. The proposed path planning strategy is shown to be particularly beneficial for WAAM of thin-walled structures.

But this excessive growth of offenses and penalties, in turn undermine the safeguard buildings we have achieved today. Through this research work emphasizes the current legal questions presented by the Criminal Law, because incorporated new concepts and objectives. In turn, they give solutions to address emerging problems of criminological phenomenon of our time., Nos encontramos ante una sociedad con nuevos valores donde la automatización, la tecnología y la globalización, décadas atrás soñadas, forman parte de nuestra realidad. Pero, también nos encontramos ante una sociedad de riesgo, un estado de inseguridad permanente, que requieren de nuevas estrategias por parte del Estado para contrarrestar tales situaciones. Ahí, emerge el Derecho penal como instrumento para enfrentar nuevos desafíos y ofrecer respuestas prácticas ante delitos que no conforman el Derecho penal clásico. Por todo esto, el Derecho penal se ha vuelto más práctico, menos teórico y nuevos tipos penales han hecho su aparición. Pero este crecimiento desmesurado de hechos punibles y penas,a su vez, atenta contralas construcciones garantistas que hemos conseguido hasta hoy. Mediante este trabajo investigativo se hace hincapié en los cuestionamientos jurídicos actuales que presenta el Derecho penal, debido a los nuevos conceptos y objetivos incorporados. A su vez, se dan soluciones para abordar los nuevos problemas del fenómeno criminológico de nuestro tiempo.

We discuss calls, and apparent support, for ethical resources to support social marketing practitioners, in the light of research findings from a study of actual ethical dilemmas encountered by social marketing practitioners and resources used to resolve them. We highlight nine key ethical challenges facing social marketers, and highlight the prominence of social marketers' concerns about funders' influence on social marketing activity. The low use of existing general resources indicates the need for social marketing- focussed resources, the need to ensure that any resources developed offer practical decision-making support rather than broad general principles, and the need to advocate for an environment in which social marketers can do good-quality work.

One of the key challenges in the scope of NP-hard problems is associated with finding a suitable solution algorithm as a result of degrees of complexity integrated in such problems. Among that, Quadratic assignment problems (QAPs) have considerable popularity because of various real-world operation applications such as production line scheduling, facility layout, etc. however as QAP is classified in the group of most difficult combinatorial optimization problems, adopting an appropriate solution approach to that, is a controversial subject among the researchers. In this paper, ABC (Artificial Bee Colony) algorithm as a new and efficient intelligent approach, is proposed and applied due to minimize the total cost of the developed quadratic model including weighted distance and fixed locating cost by adopting optimal assignment decision. Then, two experimental examples are developed and solved through MATLAB 8 software; results are achieved and compared with the outcomes from the mainly used classical algorithm (GA) to prove the efficiency and highlight some managerial issues.

Arising out of three University funded projects targeting prospective and current business students from low socio-economic (LSE) backgrounds, a social inclusion framework was developed that uses formative and summative assessment practices leading to early identification of students who may be at risk, and that embeds scaffolded learning activities to encourage and engage these students in future learning. This paper discusses the techniques and tools developed for academic staff to more confidently design, deliver and assess core curriculum that engages and supports first and second year undergraduate business students from LSE backgrounds (as well as the whole cohort) as they transition into university life and their tertiary studies. A key deliverable of this teacher-focused approach was the creation of a Handbook of Practical Teaching Strategies. The Handbook was initially created after an extensive literature review of best teaching and learning practices that promote student engagement. Using these evidence-based practices as a basis for upskilling teachers (both continuing and casual), the Handbook was developed and trialled with input from subject coordinators and tutors in classes that range from 300 to 800 students. This paper outlines the rationale for the Handbook. It details the range of teaching strategies organised according to Kift's (2009) six principle transition pedagogy. The means for dissemination are also discussed in terms of academic buy-in, web-based and Iphone versions of the Handbook that draw upon numerous examples including digital stories and YouTube examples.

We report the research progress that has been made on developing rational MgB2 superconducting conductors toward practical applications. Owing to the poor performance of the critical current density (Jc) of bare MgB2, various techniques have been developed to overcome this obstacle. Among these, chemical doping has proved to be the most effective way to enhance the superconducting properties, such as Jc and the irreversibility field (Birr). More than a hundred different forms of dopants have been investigated over the past 13 years. Among these, the most effective dopants have been identified to be silicon carbide, carbon, and malic acid. The best results, Birr of 22 T and Jc of 40,000 A cm-2 at 4.2 K and 10 T, have been reported for malic acid treated MgB2 conductors, which have matched the benchmark performance of commercial low temperature superconductor wire such as Nb-Ti. This work will review and discuss the progress on MgB2 conductor development over the past few years at the University of Wollongong and Hyper Tech Research, Inc.
