BACKGROUND: Metastasis to the oral cavity is infrequent, representing 1 to 3% of head and neck cases. The types of cancer that commonly cause metastasis to the mouth are lung, kidney, and prostate for men, and breast, kidney, and colon for women. The clinical presentation depends on the affected site and varies from an evident tumor to a slight swallow mimicking a reactive lesion, accompanied by pain and paresthesia. CLINICAL CASE: A 59-year-old woman evaluated in the Pathology and Oral Medicine Clinic of the Autonomous Metropolitan University of the City, diagnosticated with oral metastasis from renal carcinoma. CONCLUSION: Clinical findings lead to an accurate diagnosis; it is important to offer the appropriate treatment, by the specialist in Pathology and Oral Medicine, as part of the multidisciplinary team, to ensure a better quality of life in this type of patient.
