Abstract

We have presented a case of an angiogenic renal tumor in a patient from a family with von Hippel Lindau' syndrome (VHL). The patient has bilateral clear cell carcinoma (CCC) .Molecular mechanisms recently discovered are described in order to require a better understanding of the development of this disease. The knowledge of these mechanisms, may allow to achieve better therapeutic approaches to neutralize the tumors of VHL disease. In this patient, an antiproliferative, antiangiogenic therapy was preferred. Rapamycin was chosen due to the lack of information regarding the use of antitumoral monoclonal antibodies in dialysis patients. VHL disease needs to be early detected, because many of its effects can be readily treated assuring a better survival for these patients. Antiangiogenic therapy can be used for CCC in this disease with promising results. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
