Работа посвящена исследованию спектральных асимптотик эллиптических операторов произвольного четного порядка в ограниченной области со степенным вырождением вдоль всей границы. Исследуемые операторы порождаются с помощью полуторалинейных форм, которые могут не удовлетворять условию коэрцитивности. Основная часть опубликованных работ по этому направлению относится к случаю, когда коэффициенты исследуемых операторов представимы в виде произведения ограниченной функции и степени расстояния до границы. В отличие от этого здесь изучаем эллиптические операторы, младшие коэффициенты которых принадлежат некоторым L_p-пространствам со степенным весом. Ранее во многих работах, где изучалась оценка резольвенты несамосопряженных операторов, порожденных с помощью полуторалинейных форм, доказывалось неравенство вида (A-lambda E)-1leq Mlambda-1/2. Здесь доказано одно представление резольвенты исследуемого оператора A, которое позволяет получить неравенство такого типа с показателем 1 вместо 1/2. На основе таких неравенств можно исследовать вопросы суммируемости в смысле Абеля Лидского системы корневых вектор-функций оператора A. Также доказывается, что оператор A имеет дискретный спектр, и изучается асимптотика функции N(t), указывающей число собственных значений оператора A, не превосходящих по модулю t, с учетом их алгебраических кратностей., The paper is devoted to the study of the spectral asymptotics of elliptic operators of arbitrary even order in a bounded domain with power degeneration along the entire boundary. The operators under study are generated by sesquilinear forms that may not satisfy the coercivity condition. The main part of the published papers in this area refers to the case when the coefficients of the studied operators can be represented as a product of a bounded function and the degree of distance to the boundary. In contrast, here we study elliptic operators whose lower coefficients belong to certain L_p-spaces with power weights. Earlier, in many papers, where the estimation of the resolvent of non-self-adjoint operators generated by sesquilinear forms was studied, the inequality of the form (A-lambda E)-1leq Mlambda-1/2 was proved. Here we prove one representation of the resolvent of the operator A that allows us to obtain an inequality of this type with 1 instead of 1/2. On the basis of such inequalities, we can investigate the summability in the AbelLidskiy sense of the system of root vector functions of the operator A. It is also proved that the operator A has a discrete spectrum, and the asymptotics of the function N(t), the number of eigenvalues of the operator A whose magnitude is at most t, taking into account their algebraic multiplicities, is studied., №4(104) (2020)

Исследуется вопрос об однозначной разрешимости первой смешанной задачи для вырождающегося параболического уравнения 2го порядка в случае, когда граничная и начальная функции принадлежат пространствам типа L2. Данная тематика берет начало с классических работ Ф. Рисса 1 и Литтлвуда и Пэли 2, посвященных граничным значениям аналитических функций. Дальнейшее развитие этой тематики для равномерно эллиптических уравнений получило в работах В. П. Михайлова, А. К. Гущина 3 9. Условие гладкости границы (Q C2) можно ослабить (см. 7). При наиболее слабых ограничениях на гладкость границы (и на коэффициенты уравнения) критерий существования граничного значения установлен в 7 9. При этом, как показано в работе 9, все направления принятия граничных значений для равномерно эллиптических уравнений оказываются равноправными, решение обладает свойством, аналогичным свойству непрерывности по совокупности переменных. В случае вырождения уравнения на границе области, когда направления не являются равноправными, ситуация более сложная. При этом постановка первой краевой задачи определяется типом вырождения. В случае, когда значения соответствующей квадратичной формы вырождающегося эллиптического уравнения на векторе нормали отличны от нуля (вырождение типа Трикоми), корректна задача Дирихле, и свойства такого вырождающегося уравнения весьма близки к свойствам равномерно эллиптического уравнения. В частности, в этой ситуации справедливы аналоги теорем Рисса 1 и Литтлвуда Пэли 2, 3. В случае вырождения типа Келдыша ситуация более сложная. Постановка первой краевой задачи и поведение решения вблизи границы определяются порядком вырождения уравнения, а в случае сильного вырождения коэффициентами при младших членах. Вопросам разрешимости первой краевой задачи для вырождающихся эллиптических и параболических уравнений посвящено большое число работ. Достаточно отметить работы Ф. Трикоми 10, М. В. Келдыша11, А. В. Бицадзе 12, С. А. Терсенова 13, И. М. Петрушко 14, 15, О. А. Олейник, Е. В. Радкевича 16, Г. Фикеры 17 и др. Из недавних работ можно отметить 18. В настоящей работе рассматривается случай сильного вырождения параболического уравнения 2го порядка, когда соответствующая квадратичная форма убывает как r(x) и постановка первой смешанной задачи определяется коэффициентом при первой производной по нормали., The paper investigates the question of the unique solvability of the first mixed problem for a degenerate secondorder parabolic equation in the case when the boundary and initial functions belong to spaces of type L2. This topic originates from the classical works of F. Riesz 1 and Littlewood and Paley 2 devoted to the boundary values of analytic functions. Under the weakest restrictions on the smoothness of the boundary (and on the coefficients of the equation), the criterion for the existence of a boundary value was established in 7 9. The boundary smoothness condition (Q C2) can be weakened (see 10). Moreover, as shown in 9, all directions of the adoption of boundary values for uniformly elliptic equations turn out to be equal the solution has the property similar to the property of continuity in the set of variables. In the case of degeneration of the equation at the boundary of the region, when the directions are not equal, the situation is more complicated. Moreover, the formulation of the first boundary value problem is determined by the type of degeneracy. In the case when the values of the corresponding quadratic form of the degenerate elliptic equation on the normal vector are nonzero (Tricomi type degeneracy), the Dirichlet problem is correct, and the properties of such degenerate equation are very close to the properties of a uniformly elliptic equation. In particular, in this situation, analogs of the Riesz theorems 1 and Littlewood Paley 2, 3 are valid. In the case of degeneracy of the Keldysh type, the situation is more complicated. The statement of the first boundaryvalue problem and the behavior of the solution near the boundary are determined by the order of degeneracy of the equation, and in the case of strong degeneracy, by the coefficients of the lower terms. A large number of papers have been devoted to the solvability of the first boundaryvalue problem for degenerate elliptic and parabolic equations. Note the works of F. Tricomi 11, M. V. Keldysh 12, A. V. Bitsadze 13, S. A. Tersenov 14, I. M. Petrushko 15, O. A. Oleinik and E. V. Radkevich 16, G. Fichera 17, etc. From recent works it is worth noting 18. J. Koolen posed the problem of studying distance-regular graphs in which neighborhoods of vertices are strongly regular graphs with the second eigenvalue ≤ t for the given positive integer t. This problem is reduced to the des­cription of distance-regular graphs in which neighborhoods of vertices are strongly regular graphs with the non-principal eigenvalue t for t = 1, 2,… In the paper “Distance regular graphs in which local subgraphs are strongly regular graphs with the second eigenvalue at most 3”, A.A. Makhnev and D.V. Paduchikh found the arrays of intersections of distance-regular graphs in which neighborhoods of vertices are strongly regular graphs with the second eigenvalue t such as 2 < t ≤ 3. The graphs with intersection arrays {125,96,1;1,48,125}, {176,150,1;1,25,176}, and {256,204,1;1,51,256} remain unexplored. In this paper, we have found the possible orders and the structures of subgraphs of the fixed points of automorphisms of a distance-regular graph with the intersection array {125,96,1;1,48,125}. It has been proved that the neighborhoods of the vertices of this graph are pseudogeometric graphs for GQ(4,6). Composition factors of the automorphism group of a distance-regular graph with the intersection array {125,96,1;1,48,125} have been determined.

This paper involves certain types of spatial-temporal models constructed from Levy bases. The dynamics is described by a field of stochastic processes , on a set of sites , defined as integrals where denotes a Levy basis. The integrands are deterministic functions of the form , where has a special form and is a subset of . The first topic is OU (Ornstein-Uhlenbeck) fields , which represent certain extensions of the concept of OU processes (processes of Ornstein-Uhlenbeck type); the focus here is mainly on the potential of for dynamic modelling. Applications to dynamical spatial processes of Cox type are briefly indicated. The second part of the paper discusses modelling of spatial-temporal correlations of SI (stochastic intermittency) fields of the form This form is useful when explicitly computing expectations of the form which are used to characterize correlations. The SI fields can be viewed as a dynamical, continuous, and homogeneous generalization of turbulent cascades. In this connection an SI field is constructed with spatial-temporal scaling behaviour that agrees with the energy dissipation observed in turbulent flows. Some parallels of this construction are also briefly sketched.

We study a problem concerning the estimation of the Hausdorff deviation of convex polygons in $\mathbb R^2$ from their geometric difference with circles of sufficiently small radius. Problems with such a subject, in which not only convex polygons but also convex compacts in the Euclidean space $\mathbb R^n$ are considered, arise in various fields of mathematics and, in particular, in the theory of differential games, control theory, convex analysis. Estimates of Hausdorff deviations of convex compact sets in $\mathbb R^n$ in their geometric difference with closed balls in $\mathbb R^n$ are presented in the works of L.S. Pontryagin, his staff and colleagues. These estimates are very important in deriving an estimate for the mismatch of the alternating Pontryagin’s integral in linear differential games of pursuit and alternating sums. Similar estimates turn out to be useful in deriving an estimate for the mismatch of the attainability sets of nonlinear control systems in $\mathbb R^n$ and the sets approximating them. The paper considers a specific convex heptagon in $\mathbb R^2$. To study the geometry of this heptagon, we introduce the concept of a wedge in $\mathbb R^2$. On the basis of this notion, we obtain an upper bound for the Hausdorff deviation of a heptagon from its geometric difference with the disc in $\mathbb R^2$ of sufficiently small radius.

В данной работе, являющейся продолжением [1], устанавливаются необходимые и достаточные условия того, чтобы решение параболического уравнения 2-го порядка с боковой границей, принадлежащей классу $C^{1+\lambda}$, $\lambda >0$, вырождающегося на границе области, имело предел в среднем на боковой поверхности цилиндрической области и предел в среднем на ее нижнем основании, и исследуется вопрос об однозначной разрешимости первой смешанной задачи для такого уравнения в случае, когда граничная и начальная функции принадлежат пространствам типа $L_2$. Наиболее близкими к рассматриваемому кругу вопросов являются теоремы Ф. Рисса и Ж. Литтлвуда и Р. Пэли, в которых даются критерии предельных значений в $L_p$, $p > 1$, аналитических в единичном круге функций. Дальнейшее развитие этой тематики для равномерно эллиптических уравнений получило в работах В. П. Михайлова, А. К. Гущина [2–4]. Условие гладкости границы ($\partial Q \in C^2$) можно ослабить (см. В частности, в этой ситуации справедливы аналоги теорем Рисса [9] и Литтлвуда — Пэли [10, 11]., This work, being a continuation of [1], establishes the necessary and sufficient conditions for the solution of the second-order parabolic equations with a lateral boundary from the class $C^{1+\lambda}$, $\lambda >0$, degenerating on the boundary of the domain, to have an average limit on the lateral surface of the cylindrical domain and the limit in the mean on its lower base. Also, we study the question of the unique solvability of the first mixed problem for such equations in the case when the boundary and initial functions belong to spaces of the типа $L_2$ type. The closest to the questions under consideration are the theorems of F. Riesz and J. Littlewood and R. Paley, in which criteria are given for the limit values in $L_p$, $p > 1$, of the functions analytic in the unit disk. Further development of this topic for uniformly elliptic equations was obtained in the papers by V. P. Mikhailov and A. K. Gushchin [2–4]. В последние годы при математическом моделировании в различных областях науки широкое распространение получили начально-краевые прямые и обратные задачи с дробными производными. Они используются в классической и квантовой физике, теории поля, механике деформируемого твердого тела, механике жидкости и газа, общей химии, нелинейной биологии, стохастическом анализе, нелинейной теории управления и обработке изображений. В работе рассматривается одномерная математическая модель аномальной диффузии, в которой определению подлежит порядок дробной производной по времени. Задача относится к классу обратных задач. В качестве условия переопределения задан интеграл решения задачи в финальный момент времени с неотрицательным весовым коэффициентом. Дискретный аналог поставленной задачи строится конечно-разностным методом, для приближенного вычисления определенного интеграла (условия переопределения) использована квадратурная формула трапеций. Для численной реализации полученной системы нелинейных уравнений используется итерационный метод секущих., In recent years, initial boundary value direct and inverse problems with fractional derivatives have become widespread for mathematical modeling in various fields of science. They are used in classical and quantum physics, field theory, solid mechanics, fluid and gas mechanics, general chemistry, nonlinear biology, stochastic analysis, nonlinear control theory, and image processing. The paper considers a one-dimensional mathematical model of anomalous diffusion, in which the order of the fractional time derivative is to be determined. The problem belongs to the class of inverse problems. The integral of the solution of the problem at the final moment of time with a non-negative weighting coefficient is given as a condition for redefinition. A discrete analogue of the problem posed is constructed by the finite-difference method; for the approximate calculation of a definite integral (overdetermination condition), the quadrature formula of trapezoids is used. Последнее время становится актуальным изучение (псевдо)римановых многообразий с различными афинными связностями, отличными от связности ЛевиЧивита. Метрическая связность с векторным кручением (также известная как полусимметрическая связность) является одной из часто рассматриваемых связностей. Связь между конформными деформациями римановых многообразий и метрическими связностями с векторным кручением на них была установлена в работах К. Яно. А именно, риманово многообразие допускает метрическую связность с векторным кручением, тензор кривизны которой равен нулю, тогда и только тогда, когда оно является конформно плоским. В данной работе впервые исследуется уравнение Эйнштейна на трехмерных локально симметрических (псевдо)римановых многообразиях с метрической связностью с инвариантным векторным кручением. Получена теорема о том, что все такие многообразия либо являются многообразиями Эйнштейна относительно связности Леви-Чивита, либо являются конформно плоскими., The study of (pseudo)Riemannian manifolds with different metric connections different from the Levi-Civita connection has become a subject of current interest lately. A metric connection with vectorial torsion (also known as a semi-symmetric connection) is a frequently considered one of them. The correlation between the conformal deformations of Riemannian manifolds and metric connections with vectorial torsion on them was established in the works of K. Yano. Namely, a Riemannian manifold admits a metric connection with vectorial torsion, the curvature tensor of which is zero, if and only if it is conformally flat. In this paper, we study the Einstein equation on three-dimensional locally symmetric (pseudo)Riemannian manifolds with metric connection with invariant vectorial torsion. We obtain a theorem stating that all such manifolds are either Einstein manifolds with respect to the Levi-Civita connection or conformally flat., №4(104) (2020)

Рассматривается задача об экспоненциальной дихотомии для систем линейных разностных уравнений с постоянными коэффициентами. Исследуется вопрос о допустимых возмущениях на матрицу коэффициентов, при которых сохраняется экспоненциальная дихотомия. В предположении, что исходная система линейных разностных уравнений экспоненциально дихотомична, в работе указаны условия на возмущения, при которых возмущенная система является также экспоненциально дихотомичной. Условия записаны в виде оценок на норму матриц возмущений и имеют конструктивный характер. При их получении не использовалась спектральная информация, поскольку задача о нахождении спектра для несамосопряженных матриц является плохо обусловленной с точки зрения теории возмущений. В работе применялся подход, основанный на разрешимости матричных дискретных уравнений Ляпунова. Поэтому установленные результаты могут быть использованы при численном исследовании задачи о дихотомии., The problem of the exponential dichotomy for systems of linear difference equations with constant coefficients is considered. We investigate the question of admissible perturbations for the coefficient matrix under which the exponential dichotomy is preserved. Assuming the initial system of linear difference equations is exponentially dichotomous, we establish conditions for perturbations under which the perturbed system is also exponentially dichotomous. The conditions are written in the form of estimates on the norm of perturbation matrices and are of constructive character. Any spectral information was not used to obtain them, since the problem of finding the spectrum for non-self-adjoint matrices is ill-conditioned from the perturbation theory point of view. In the present paper, we apply an approach based on the solvability of the discrete Lyapunov matrix equations. Рассматривается модель, описывающая взаимодействие n видов микроорганизмов. Модель представлена в виде системы нелинейных дифференциальных уравнений с несколькими постоянными запаздываниями. Компоненты решений системы отвечают за численности популяций i-го вида и за концентрацию питательного вещества. Параметры запаздывания обозначают время, необходимое для появления i-го вида после потребления питательного вещества. Изучаются асимптотические свойства решений рассматриваемой системы. При определенных условиях на параметры системы получены оценки для всех компонент решений. Установленные оценки характеризуют скорости убывания численностей популяций микроорганизмов и скорость стабилизации концентрации питательного вещества к начальной величине концентрации. Оценки имеют конструктивный характер, все величины, характеризующие скорости стабилизации, указаны в явном виде. При получении оценок были использованы модифицированные функционалы Ляпунова Красовского., We consider a model describing the interaction of n species of microorganisms. The model is presented as a system of nonlinear differential equations with several constant delays. The components of solutions to the system are responsible for the biomass of the i-th species and for the concentration of the nutrient. The delay parameters denote the time required for the conversion of the nutrient to viable biomass for the i-th species. In the paper, we study asymptotic properties of the solutions to the considered system. Under certain conditions on the system parameters, we obtain estimates for all components of the solutions. The established estimates characterize the rate of decrease in the biomass of microorganisms and the rate of stabilization of the nutrient concentration to the initial value of the concentration. The estimates are constructive and all values characterizing the stabilization rate are indicated explicitly. The modified LyapunovKrasovskii functionals were used to obtain the estimates., №4(104) (2020)

The Capacitated Vehicle Routing Problem (CVRP) is a classical extremal combinatorial routing problem with numerous applications in operations research. Although the CVRP is strongly NP-hard both in the general case and in the Euclidean plane, it admits quasipolynomial- and even polynomial-time approximation schemes (QPTAS and PTAS) in Euclidean spaces of fixed dimension. At the same time, the metric setting of the problem is APX-complete even for an arbitrary fixed capacity q ≥ 3. In this paper, we show that the classical Haimovich-Rinnooy Kan algorithm implements a PTAS and an Efficient Polynomial-Time Approximation Scheme (EPTAS) in an arbitrary metric space of fixed doubling dimension for q = o(log log n) and for an arbitrary constant capacity, respectively. © 2019 Krasovskii Institute of Mathematics and Mechanics. We considered the problem of obtaining upper bounds for the mathematical expectation of the $q$-norm ($2\leqslant q \leqslant \infty$) of the vector which is uniformly distributed on the unit Euclidean sphere. The paper deals with the optimal control problem, including the linear parabolic equation as a state problem. Pointwise constraints are imposed on the control function. The objective functional involves the observation function in the entire space-time domain. The optimal control problem is approximated by a finite dimensional problem with mesh approximation of the state equation by the explicit (forward Euler) mesh scheme with variable time steps. The existence of unique solutions for the continuous and mesh optimal control problems is proved. The Uzawa-type iterative method is used for solving the finite dimensional optimal control problem. The results of numerical experiments are presented.

Ранее была рассмотрена задача: на части границы области Ω ⊂ R3 находится нагреватель, имеющий регулируемую температуру. Требуется найти такой режим работы нагревателя, чтобы средняя температура в некоторой подобласти D области Ω принимала заданное значение. В данной работе рассматривается аналогичная задача граничного управления связанная с псевдопараболическим уравнением на отрезке. На части границы рассматриваемого отрезка задается значение решения, которое содержит параметр управления. Ограничение для допустимого управления задано в таком виде, что среднее значение решения в некоторой части рассматриваемого отрезка принимает заданное значение. Решается вспомогательная задача методом разделения переменных. Искомая задача сводится к интегральному уравнению Вольтерра второго рода. Методом преобразования Лапласа доказываются теоремы о существовании и единственности допустимого управления., Previously, a mathematical model for the following problem was considered. On a part of the border of the region Ω ⊂ R3 there is a heater with controlled temperature. It is required to find such a mode of its operation that the average temperature in some subregion D of Ω reaches some given value. In this paper, we consider a similar boundary control problem associated with a pseudo-parabolic equation on a segment. On the part of the border of the considered segment, the value of the solution with control parameter is given. Restrictions on the control are given in such a way that the average value of the solution in some part of the considered segment gets a given value. The auxiliary problem is solved by the method of separation of variables, while the problem in consideration is reduced to the Volterra integral equation of the second kind. Изучается разрешимость начально-краевой задачи с условиями сопряжения для двух неклассических дифференциальных уравнений составного типа. Описывается случай, когда коэффициенты каждого рассматриваемого уравнения имеют разрыв 1-го рода в точке нуль. Область исследований задана в виде полосы ввиду наличия точки разрыва, состоящей из двух подобластей. Таким образом, исследуемые уравнения рассматриваются в двух различных областях. Для доказательства существования и единственности регулярных решений (которые имеют все обобщенные производные, входящие в уравнения) начально-краевой задачи используется метод продолжения по параметру, имеющий широкое применение в теории краевых задач. С помощью принципа максимума устанавливается наличие всех необходимых априорных оценок для решений изучаемой задачи., In this paper we study the solvability of an initial-boundary value problem with conjugation conditions for two nonclassical differential equations of composite type. We describe the case when the coefficients of each equation under consideration have a discontinuity of the first kind at the point zero. The field of research is given in the form of a band, due to the presence of a discontinuity point consisting of two subregions. Thus, the investigated equations are considered in two different areas. To prove the existence and uniqueness of regular solutions (which have all the generalized derivatives entering into the equations) of the initial-boundary value problem, we use the method of continuation with respect to a parameter, which has a wide application in the theory of boundary value problems. Using the maximum principle, the presence of all necessary a priori estimates for the solutions of the problem being studied is established., №2(98) (2018)

The paper introduces and investigates partial orders that are finer than the minus partial order and are based on inverses along an element and other specific outer inverses. It turns out that in this way a number of classical partial orders can be equivalently defined.

The paper is devoted to the expansion in partial fractions for a meromorphic function of one complex variable. It contains the results by the author on representing a meromorphic function as a sum of an entire function and the principal parts in its Laurent expansion at its poles.

Let $A_j,B_j$ $(j=0,1,\ldots)$ be $m \times m$ matrices, whose elements are complex numbers, $A_j$ are selfadjoint matrices and $B_j^{-1}$ exist. We study the deficiency index problem for minimal closed symmetric operator $L$ with domain $D_L$, generated by the Jacobi matrix $\textbf{J}$ with entries $A_j,B_j$ in the Hilbert space $l_m^2$ of sequences $ u=(u_0,u_1, \ldots), u_j \in C^m$ by mapping $u \rightarrow \textbf{J}u$, i.e. by the formula $Lu=lu$ for $u \in D_L$, where $lu=((lu)_0,(lu)_1, \ldots)$ and $$ (lu)_0:=A_0u_0+B_0u_1, \quad (lu)_j:=B^*_{j-1}u_{j-1}+A_ju_j+B_ju_{j+1}, \;\; j=1,2, \ldots $$ It is well known that the case of the minimal deficiency numbers of the operator $L$ corresponds to the determinate case, and the case of the maximal deficiency numbers of this operator corresponds to the completely indeterminate case of the matrix power moment problem. In this paper we obtain new conditions of the minimal, maximal and not maximal deficiency numbers of the operator $L$ in terms of the entries of the matrix $\textbf{J}$. The special attention is paid to the case $m=1$, i.e. we present some conditions on the elements of the numerical tridiagonal Jacobi matrix, which ensure the realization of the determinate case of the classical power moment problem., 9 pages, in Russian

The main idea consists in defining structural patterns of words and corresponding lists of suffixes. First, a detaileddescription of a stemming algorithm, its modification, and the technique of determining grammatical characteristics of word-forms are given. The next part of this work focuses on the application of the proposed algorithms for the French language. Дано описание алгоритма выделения псевдоосновы, его модификация, а также алгоритм восстановления грамматических характеристик словоформ. Описано применение предложенного метода для анализа словоформ французского языка. Представлены результаты работы предложенных алгоритмов.

The $A(\inft)$-algebra structure in homology of a DG-algebra is constructed. This structure is unique up to isomorphism of $A(\infty)$ algebras. Connection of this structure with Massey products is indicated. The notion of $A(\infty)$-module over an $A(\infty)$-algebra is introduced and such a structure is constructed in homology of a DG-modules over a DG-algebra. The theory of twisted tensor products is generalized from the case of DG-algebras to the case of $A(\infty)$-algebras. These algebraic results are used to describe homology of classifying spaces, cohomology of loop spaces, and homology of fibre bundles., 8 pages. First, in joint work with S. Bodine of the University of Puget Sound, Tacoma, Washington, USA, we consider the second-order differential equation e2 y''=(1+e2 ψ(x, e))y with a small parameter e, where ψ is analytic and even with respect to e. It is well known that it has two formal solutions of the form y±(x,e)=e±x/eh±(x,e), where h±(x,e) is a formal series in powers of e whose coefficients are functions of x. It has been shown that one (resp. both) of these solutions are 1-summable in certain directions if ψ satisfies certain conditions, in particular concerning its x-domain. We show that these conditions are essentially necessary for 1-summability of one (resp. both) of the above formal solutions. In the proof, we solve a certain inverse problem: constructing a differential equation corresponding to a certain Stokes phenomenon. The second part of the paper presents joint work with Augustin Fruchard of the University of La Rochelle, France, concerning inverse problems for the general (analytic) linear equations e r y' = A(x,e) y in the neighborhood of a nonturning point and for second-order (analytic) equations e y'' - 2xy'-g(x,e) y=0 exhibiting resonance in the sense of Ackerberg-O'Malley, i.e., satisfying the Matkowsky condition: there exists a nontrivial formal solution $$\hat y\left( {x{\text{, }}\varepsilon } \right) = \sum {y_n } \left( x \right)\varepsilon ^n $$ such that the coefficients have no poles at x=0.
