The arachnid fauna of the Maltese Islands has not yet been adequately investigated. In the present work, from a total of 117 species sampled, 36 taxa represent newly recorded spider species (Araneae) for Malta, with an additional new record of a harvestman (Opiliones). These new records include three new spider families and one new harvestman family for the Maltese archipelago: Anyphaenidae Bertkau, 1878, Mimetidae Simon, 1881, Oxyopidae Thorell, 1869 and Sclerosomatidae Simon, 1879; as well as two species which are recorded from Europe for the first time: Acartauchenius insigniceps (Simon, 1894) and Zelotes poecilochroaeformis Denis, 1937. Ecological, distributional, biogeographical and taxonomic notes are provided for the newly recorded species. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

O algoritmo digital permitiu o manejo de dados dos usuários da web pelos conglomerados informacionais. De forma discreta e personalizada, a nova forma de governamentalidade coleta, organiza, permuta e devolve os dados ao próprio indivíduo na forma de mais informações. Cada vez mais, esbarra na dimensão singular, tocando o campo do gozo via proliferação de objetos a que, na teoria lacaniana dos discursos, assume a dupla função de perda e de incessante tentativa de suplementação de gozo. Com o incremento informacional, o objeto chega ao ápice social e o digital alcança patamar discursivo. Inserindo-se no mesmo nicho do saber, a informação digital se aproveita da divisão subjetiva, deixando pouco espaço para que o sujeito possa lidar com a entropia de seu gozo via desejo. Se a neguentropia é o atributo do saber que limita a dispersão de gozo, na informação tratada e retornada algoritmicamente tal processo sofre uma aceleração, agindo diretamente sobre a economia dos afetos. Com prejuízo para o sujeito, resta uma experiência de gozo cada vez mais direta, crua, menos mediatizada pelo saber e pelo Outro.

Different engineering geological and geophysical investigations were performed at the Sopu promontory in the island of Gozo (Malta), involved in an impressive lateral spreading process due to the superimposition of a stiff limestone (ULC) on a ductile clay (BC). The applied techniques include: traditional geological and engineering geological surveys, unmanned aerial vehicles (UAV) survey, electrical resistivity tomography (ERT) survey, ground-penetrating radar (GPR) investigations, single-station seismic ambient noise measurements, and array seismic ambient noise measurements. The integration of the obtained results allowed us to reconstruct a subsoil model of the promontory that includes features related to the local geology of the slope and to the landslide process, as well as to define a conceptual model that describes the main evolution phases of the expansion process. The presence of back-tilted rock blocks with no features of polarization of Rayleigh waves evidenced the different failure mechanism of the rigid UCL plateau at the Sopu promontory with respect to the Selmun promontory, located in the close island of Malta, where the lateral spreading due to the same geological setting tends to produce unstable rock blocks with a toppling mechanism. The purpose of this manuscript is to demonstrate that the mystic experience configures a particular subjective solution that opens up the possibility to the singularization and disalienation of the subject in the context of the relationship with the institutional Other; therefore, it incise ethical-politically on the context of the social bond. Therefore, a theoretical research with a psychoanalytical framework will be carried out. Thus, the theme of uniqueness will be discussed in the light of the notion of female jouissance in interface with mystique (Lacan, 1972-1973/1985). In addition, this appanage will be interspersed with the Foucaultian concept of self-care (Foucault, 1981-82/2006), and from this, will be scrutinized possible convergences between the mystical experience and the ethical-political and aesthetic exercise related to the self-care. Based on this intersection, we will seek to support the premise that the mystic, more precisely, the jouissance of God, implied in the jouissance of the woman which is governed by the logic of the not-all, allows the subject to singularize himself, therefore, to adopt a critical posture that converges to the liberation of the Other's discourse and to the transformation of oneself. Ship graffiti in Malta can be understood as an archaeological manifestation of a Mediterranean island's maritime identity. The profusion and distribution of graffiti must be contextualized within local histories, naval powers, and maritime industry, and the ways these shaped the demographic and religious landscapes in the early modern period. Ship graffiti has the capacity to fill gaps in scholarship as well as raise important historical and archaeological questions. Technological advancements continue to revolutionize the documentation, study, and communication of graffiti sites. O presente artigo tem como objetivo compreender os aspectos que envolvem a permanência e a passividade das vítimas de relacionamentos abusivos a partir de conceitos psicanalíticos. Para tanto, utilizou-se conceitos de Freud e Lacan, articulando a relação do sujeito com a linguagem e suas implicações na relação sujeito e Outro, que envolvem aspectos como desejo, amor e gozo. Assim, optou-se por nomear tal dinâmica relacional de relacionamento ab-usivo, entendendo que algo da ordem de uma satisfação inconsciente se atualiza nessas relações, e que neste sentido, toda relação comporta algo de ab-usivo. Considera-se fundamental que, diante de tal demanda, o analista tenha um olhar para a cena inconsciente do sujeito que se apresenta, e que a análise possibilite que algo do “um” se sustente, para que o sujeito sustente uma condição de menos assujeitamento ao seu modo de gozo.

The present reflection aims to combine the theoretical references of sociology and psychoanalysis around the human action theme. Taking as a reference some case studies presented, it was inquired about the work ethics and the admission of certain subjects to this lifestyle. It resumed the contributions of sociology as a science of culture in the understanding of the action; in particular, it discussed Max Weber's theoretical distillations on the Protestant Reformation and the building of a new social morality in which work takes a central position in the lives of subjects. The debate was concluded by presenting the limits of sociological explanation and the advances that psychoanalysis can present to the debate; in particular, the reflections on impulse, motivation, and enjoyment are resumed. No fundamento do que o filósofo Dany-Robert Dufour chama de dessimbolização está o esvaecimento do grande Sujeito, o desaparecimento do Outro. Este, um conceito eminentemente psicanalítico, considerável no ensino do psicanalista Jacques-Marie Émile Lacan, do qual o filósofo francês se serve. Se foi possível a Dufour indicar um processo de dessimbolização, não é porque a questão do Outro permaneceu intacta. O fato é que, na psicanálise lacaniana, também não. Esta pesquisa bibliográfica toma o singular paradoxo apresentado por Dufour, que aventa um regozijo frente ao sofrimento imiscuído na dessimbolização, mas contornando-o sobretudo desde o último Lacan, isto é, a partir do Seminário 20, e de seus aliados, a fim de fornecer outros operadores que possam problematizar essa leitura. Os desdobramentos e resultados alcançam a inconsistência do Outro frente ao protagonismo do modo de gozar do parlêtre.

Em A Superindústria do Imaginário: como o capital transformou o olhar em trabalho e se apropriou de tudo que é visível, Eugênio Bucci se debruçou sobre o tema por um terço de século e propõe reconfigurar e exponenciar a imbricação da linguística e da psicanálise na comunicação – transformada em centro do capitalismo extrator de dados, circulando-os como mercadoria, sobretudo entre os propagandistas, influindo no fluxo da informação, tão cara em tempos de um espalhamento desmedido de fake news. Assim, o olhar, como um vórtice que atua em circuitos secretos, é um ato de linguagem. Afinal, em sociedades fantasiosas, o sujeito, como uma espécie de joguete, tem seu pensamento substituído pelo olhar para, ao final, encontrar o gozo.

Este ensaio teórico-clínico aborda a noção de imaginarização, apenas mencionada por Lacan em três passagens de sua obra, a fim de compreender algumas manifestações clínicas e processos de segregação contemporâneos. A hipótese é de que a imaginarização é o cerne de uma operação que pode conduzir o sujeito a um modo específico e fixado de gozo. A questão principal é o tipo de relação com o objeto a e o que pode derivar desse processo no que diz respeito à economia de gozo. Aborda-se o discurso contemporâneo, sublinhando modos de gozo que podem derivar desse processo. Como se trata de manifestações sintomáticas contemporâneas na clínica, demonstram-se derivações do singular (registro por excelência da clínica psicanalítica) ao particular, no engate do sujeito com o laço social.

The study about the types of comicality, and in special the humor, worried the romantics and had an influence on the studies in the beginning of the XX century. Freud, influenced and influencing this context, writes two works that treat about this thematic. In this paper, the theme humor goes to some discussions: the humoristic laugh like the framing of the affection and the effect of the affable speech of the Superego for this formation. When the plastic represented by the humoristic laugh is understood, it takes into consideration that this process gathers two possibilities of a trap, both can be constituted either as by the invoking drive or as the scopic drive. The first, by the affable and consolatory speech of the superego, that seems to work as a voice-tamer, the sonority of this speak offers a new place that is not only the deadly imperative. The second trap would be the humoristic laugh, which can be thought as a look-tamer. The contained laugh that frames the sensation of the mockery play in front the risk confronted, even knowing that this challenge persists for out of your edge, which can be approached to tears. To think the effects of the artistic and esthetic characteristics of the humor, two episodes of the work Dom Quixote de La Mancha are taken as illustration. The parts of the romance help to think how the laugh, through the imagistic and sonorous expression, can frame the affections or overflow in excess. This esthetic comprehension helps to situate your reach, that either can be the share of the pleasure or the lonely reaffirmation of the jouissance. Thereby, the humoristic smile can work as a trap for the affection, frames it reveling, retracted, that what terrifies can be faced, even that's not annihilated; the rest is excess. Therefore, even in a risky way, the humor is capable of constructing the utterance of the loss, that remits the subject to their desire. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Este artigo se insere em um debate atual acerca das políticas conceituais do campo lacaniano. Ele procura explorar um dos traços distintivos desse debate: a crítica à progressiva tematização da insuficiência da linguagem e à substancialização dos conceitos psicanalíticos no movimento lacaniano, identificada no trabalho de alguns psicanalistas. Este trabalho, por sua vez, apontaria para outra leitura do texto lacaniano, vetorizada por um horizonte ético-epistemológico distinto, marcadamente antisubstancialista. Destacaremos nisso o lugar de uma política dos usos de três conceitos fundamentais a esse campo: real, gozo e corpo. A partir das articulações propostas, procuraremos apresentar o substancialismo como um obstáculo em potencial para a psicanálise lacaniana, além de explorar algumas de suas possíveis implicações éticas, clínicas e epistemológicas.

O presente artigo tem como objetivo trazer algumas contribuições da psicanálise para o esclarecimento da questão da violência contra a mulher, um fenômeno que se repete na história das sociedades. Buscando pensar sobre as bases estruturais dessa violência, recorremos à teoria lacaniana dos gozos fálico e gozo Outro, feminino, propondo uma diferenciação entre o que se supõe como gozo Outro e o que se estabelece como gozo do Outro. Seguindo o caminho aberto por Lacan, lançamos a hipótese de que o gozo do Outro pode estar relacionado com a vivência no sujeito posicionado do lado do masculino, de um gozo intrusivo e devastador atribuído a um Outro vivido como absoluto, mobilizando reações misóginas e mesmo feminicidas. Tal distinção foi operativa no sentido de nos possibilitar pensar no que aqui designamos como “devastação no masculino” e sua possível relação com o que no artigo discernimos como “violência contra o feminino na mulher”.

Neste artigo, pretendemos trabalhar, a partir de uma leitura de Zizek e Lacan, a perspectiva radical de liberdade como superação da dialética entre a Lei moral kantiana e o gozo sádico. Para isso, procuramos primeiramente mostrar como Lacan articula a relação de Kant com Sade, para, em seguida, pensar como, segundo Zizek, o psicanalista encontra uma saída para o princípio de liberdade kantiana, a partir da ética do desejo puro, o que nos permitirá pensar um Kant sem Sade.

Este artigo propõe o esboço de uma teoria unificada da angústia no Seminário 10, visando fornecer uma chave de leitura que permita conectar entre si as diferentes formulações nas obras de Freud e Lacan. A ideia de unidade deve ser entendida no sentido estruturalista. Isso significa privilegiar as relações e não os termos, ou seja, encontrar a regra de composição do conjunto dos conceitos. Partindo do par de oposição angústia como falta da falta x angústia como sinal do desejo, demonstra-se que os afetos que formam os termos do par possuem uma relação: enquanto o primeiro seria condição de possibilidade do desejo, o segundo supõe um desejo constituído. Discute-se a existência de uma angústia relacionada ao gozo e de uma angústia relacionada ao desejo, demonstrando que o desdobramento da fórmula da angústia encontra respaldo no texto freudiano. Argumenta-se que o par de oposição lacaniano corresponde ao par freudiano angústia automática x sinal de angústia. Conclui-se que, apesar da pluralidade das definições, é possível encontrar uma lógica que as atravessa.

El siguiente artículo tiene dos intenciones: por un lado, a través de Levinas y Merleau- Ponty, mostrar la relevancia de las herramientas fenomenológicas en el debate actual de la estética de lo cotidiano; por otro, defender la tesis de que lo específico de la estética de lo cotidiano consiste en comprender que nuestra cotidianidad está fundada inherentemente en elementos estéticos que se integran en nuestra vida de forma irreflexiva. A su vez, dichos elementos estéticos, a pesar de su irreflexividad, componen un elemento esencial en la construcción de nuestra subjetividad y nuestro mundo propio. A través de Levinas nos serviremos de su concepto de gozo para fundar una ética de lo cotidiano; a través de Merleau-Ponty acudiremos a sus reflexiones sobre la corporalidad para describir la fenomenología de esta experiencia. La característica cercanía, inatención y falta de diferenciación analítica de la estética de lo cotidiano constituirá, a su vez, una de las diferencias principales con otras teorías estéticas caracterizadas por la contemplación, la objetualidad y el desinterés.

RESUMO O fato de a arte ter sido e ser ainda vinculada a uma ideia moral consolida a crença histórica na sua capacidade de determinar (re)ações a partir das proposições que ela destina ao público. A arte, sobretudo na fase moderna e contemporânea, possuiria a força singular de afetar o espectador segundo um mecanismo de “gozo” que garantiria como, ao ver, eu entenderia naquilo que olho uma motivação a agir no mundo para responder a uma injunção moral presente na obra. Para pensar essa crença, que interessa, em primeira instância, a compreensão do trabalho de muitos artistas, Hans-Robert Jauss providencia argumentos decisivos. As análises de Giorgio Agamben sobre a função da “liturgia” antiga revelam-se fundamentais, também, para cernir ainda mais intensamente o que está em jogo nessa crença na possibilidade de as obras terem um efeito moral mobilizador sobre aqueles que as recebem. Todavia, cabe a Jacques Rancière questionar se o gozo estético proporcionado por essa liturgia dispara verdadeiramente no espectador uma motivação a agir.

Morchella galilaea is unique among morels by its autumnal fruiting and a worldwide but disjunct distribution, strongly biased towards islands. The drivers of this reversed seasonality and transcontinental dispersal remain poorly understood. New records of M. galilaea from several islands of the Mediterranean, and from the Reunion Island in the Indian Ocean, all unveiled here, invited us to revisit and discuss the biogeography, phenology and ecology of this intriguing morel. Our ecological and molecular findings do not support recent anthropogenic introductions as causal for the tropism of M. galilaea for islands. Instead, we postulate a tentative model of evolution in which the paleotropical origins of the species may be responsible for the release of strict seasonality constraints inherited early during the genus' evolutionary history. Fear and hatred are affections inherent to human nature; they are not exclusive to the current historical moment but have worsened in recent decades. According to Zygmunt Bauman (2016), "fear and hatred have the same origin and feed on the same thing". Such a statement is an excuse to inquire -through the analytical discourse and by following the Freudian indication- as to what it is feasible to say about the relationship between fear and hatred in the current reality: applying psychoanalytic premises to other practices and fields of knowledge allows us both to raise new problems and to glimpse in a different light those already conceived. This indication invites us to think with the psychoanalytic doctrine, in this case, the discourse of fear and hatred, more than just denouncing it. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The discovery of a set of ashlar blocks uncovered at the waters’ edge at Ramla l-Ħamra Bay in Gozo has prompted a series of assessments to understand if the exposed archaeological remains were an already known part of a Roman villa complex investigated in 1911 or whether these were a new addition. The study presents the results of the research undertaken through a series of on-site surveys and desktop studies confirming a new addition to the already known villa complex. The new discoveries are discussed within the light of the published sources and provide additional interpretations of the site. This study also provides an opportunity to reconsider the new discoveries and makes a case for a renewed interest for archaeological investigations which could shed more light on the remains of the Roman bathhouse as well as its environmental setting.

Resumo O presente artigo advém da necessidade de explicitar o tema da letra em seu uso na constituição do ser de fala e de sua correlação na instauração do amor. Um amor que se inscreve quando a letra convoca algo do ser para a literalidade, possibilitando, concomitantemente, um lugar para o sujeito bem como para um vazio que o constitui, permanentemente. Desde Freud podemos antever um flerte com a literatura e suas letras. Lacan amplia este percurso para outras artes delineando a imprescindível função da letra na constituição do sujeito de fala e do advento amoroso. A partir deste legado, almejo perpassar a questão do amor com o vazio que nunca se preenche a partir da inscrição promovida pela letra. Afirma-se neste artigo a importância de sustentar para o amor algo que sempre escapará à função significante, embora demande ser escrito para que possa existir. Desde esta perspectiva se abre um modo de sustentar um lugar para o amor onde a contingência do encontro não se desfaça e os sujeitos possam brincar com o fazer de suas letras.

The eumenine fauna of the Maltese Islands is reviewed and 17 species are asserted as occurring in the mentioned territory. Of these, Parodontodynerus ephippium and Stenodynerus fastidiosissimus are recorded for the first time from the Maltese archipelago. An annotated species list and a key to species are provided. O perigo potencial dos paranoicos reivindicadores é um dado clínico que se impôs na psiquiatria. A lógica subjetiva inerente à passagem ao ato se distingue, entretanto, da de outros homicídios ou tentativas de assassinato cometidas por sujeitos psicóticos que tentam, ao fazê-lo, tratar o gozo do qual são objeto. Tal lógica explica-se a partir das especificidades do delírio paranoico de reivindicação que o ensino lacaniano permite compreender. Esse delírio edifica-se sobre a base de um prejuízo de gozo que persegue o sujeito. Os crimes que daí resultam são motivados por uma vontade de gozo e cometidos em nome de um ideal de justiça em torno do qual o sujeito organiza sua existência.

O presente artigo tem por objetivo fazer uma breve exposição do que a teoria psicanalítica tem a dizer sobre a noção de segregação, utilizando-se da metodologia de pesquisa bibliográfica. Constatou-se que, para a psicanálise, o termo não carrega consigo apenas uma significação negativa, como apresentada pelo senso comum. Verificou-se, nesta pesquisa, que existem dois aspectos referentes à segregação: uma segregação estrutural e os efeitos de segregação. A segregação estrutural refere-se a uma condição constitutiva de todo sujeito e de todo discurso, posto que eles se organizam a partir do significante-mestre (S1) e dos modos de gozo. No que tange aos efeitos de segregação foi possível observar que há uma diferença crucial do que expõem a teoria freudiana e a teoria lacaniana. Freud apresenta, a partir da análise de sua época, que as massas se alicerçavam sobre um processo de identificação comum a um determinado ideal. O que Lacan observa, entretanto, e que nos serve para um estudo da contemporaneidade, é um declínio desses ideais e o crescimento do gozo como ordenação social. Tal fenômeno ocorre por intermédio de um tipo de relação específica entre o discurso da ciência, que forjou a constituição de um sujeito universal e o discurso do capitalismo, que tem como consequência a globalização de um Mercado Comum. Essa combinação tem como resíduo a dessubjetivação dos sujeitos, que passam a se organizar por meio de campos de concentração de gozo, onde todos visam gozar de forma semelhante e ilimitada. Organiza-se, dessa forma, toda uma sociedade a caminho da segregação, onde aquele que goza diferente é segregado. Por fim, argumenta-se que o discurso do analista oferece uma saída diferente ao impasse da segregação, uma vez que se interessa pelas soluções singulares que cada sujeito constrói para dar conta daquilo que é insuportável.

This work aimed for a taxonomic investigation conducted on populations of Bolboschoenus (Cyperaceae) growing in wetlands throughout the Maltese Islands. A detailed account of the ecology and morphometric analysis of eleven flower-bearing populations is provided and supplemented by images. Emphasis was made on the inflorescence and the achenes, whereas palyological observations were also included. No significant taxonomic difference has been found between ray-bearing and rayless plants and all examined material did not correspond to B. maritimus, the only species reported in previous floristic literature. Findings instead showed two distinct morphotypes that are undocumented. The one prevailing in mainland Malta was completely sterile (a unique finding for the genus) except for one small population, which harboured fragment pockets of fertile plants corresponding best to B. glaucus s. l. The other morphotype occurred only on the Island of Gozo and consisted of achene-producing plants that did not match any of the described Bolboschoenus species. Morphometrics indicated an intermediate position between B. glaucus and B. maritimus. Further investigations that are more diagnostic from morphometrics are advocated for reliable taxonomic conclusions of both populations, possibly leading to the first records of the hybrid B. glaucus × maritimus, as indicated in this morphological study. This paper presents a reading of hysteria from the perspective of the phallic value, from which it is proposed that the main characteristic of this clinical type will be the identification of the phallus. For this reason, the disjunction between demand and desire is taken in the hysterical subject, without leaving aside the enjoyment and the suffering. The articulation of these conceptual elements is also treated with the clinical orientation based on the question, in the case of hysteria: What is a woman? Starting from the question of the status of the body in virtual relationships, the debate on the relevance, necessity, and efficacy of distance psychoanalysis (online psychoanalysis, tele-analysis) is opened. The arguments that delegitimize this practice are addressed, such as the rigorousness of the setting and some "materialistic" readings of Lacan's teaching. The use of the analyst's body from Winnicott's perspective is reviewed and confronted with Lacan's proposal, in which the analyst is invited to occupy the position of the semblant This proposal defines the subject as a jouissant substance whose materiality is a signifier. In conclusion, understanding the voice and the gaze as two forms of the body, it is possible to think that the conditions to carry out the analytical work are given, being the virtual encounter a tool that will make psychoanalysis possible in scenarios that were unthinkable in the past. From the original correlation in psychoanalysis between body and symptom, this paper reviews the theoretical displacement processes in Lacan's work which demonstrate and inoculate the role of jouissance in this correlation. Therefore, a problematization between body, jouissance, and symptom is opened and developed primarily through the elaborations operated in the field of jouissance. These elaborations, associated with a logical reduction of the Other (A) and the changes in the conception of the structure of language, which extend beyond the logic of the phallic significance and the Name-of-the-Father, and towards the real, determine a renewal of the problematic, thus displacing these three concepts to new configurations, as corpse, jouissance, and sinthome. The centrality of the real and all the displacements in the elaboration of the body and the symptom are inevitably founded and modified by the movements of the work, regarding the confrontation between the field of language and its possibilities and impossibilities of inscription and registration of the real of the jouissance by the letter. This article aims to discuss how the representations of the body in the cinema of David Cronenberg indicate an important dissociation between pleasure and jouissance. The author proposes to confront the two contiguous fields of the feminine and the maternal based on Freud's considerations on the "black continent", i.e. femininity, and on the notion of feminine jouissance deployed by Jacques Lacan. In the light of clinical psychoanalytical psychopathology, this article aims to highlight that if Oedipus does not make The Woman, the fact of the devastation which is its consequence invades the feminine, as well as the maternal. Indeed, the opaque part of the mother's jouissance, i.e. the feminine in the mother, contaminates both the woman's femininity and her maternity, as shown by the devastating relationship that can exist between a daughter and her mother. Thus, we point out that no more than becoming a woman, becoming a mother is not given from the outset, it is rather constructed from the relationship with language, with fantasy, with jouissance and with the Other in the figure of maternal love, for each one. Malta, Gozo and Comino, the Thrinacia of Homer and the Melitē, Phoebe and Lampas of Scylax, form an archipelago in the centre of the Mediterranean Sea inhabited by both Phoenicians and Greeks before the coming of the Romans to those islands. Many geographers mention them, but other authors refer to their importance as places of production of textiles and other natural goods like oil and honey. Of particular importance was the site of the temple of Juno and Hercules known to Phoenicians, Greeks, Romans as well as to Numidians. Malta and Gozo were also praised for their good harbors and stone. The Grand Harbour itself served as an important Byzantine base with its tower and inner harbour, both places bearing Greek names. Malta was converted to Christianity in AD 60 following St Paul’s shipwreck there, where he spent three winter months. The aim of this article is to scrutinize the information about Malta and Gozo in numerous Greek, Roman and Christian sources.

Resumo O artigo parte da interrogação: em que sentido o recurso à escrita de James Joyce abala a axiomática do ensino de Lacan, centrada no estruturalismo linguístico? O artigo visa, então, localizar a relevância do recurso a Joyce na reformulação do conceito de inconsciente. Por meio do levantamento conceitual sobre a definição do conceito de inconsciente, no ensino de Lacan, foi possível problematizar a validade do recurso à linguística estrutural para definir o conceito de inconsciente, interrogando o deslocamento desse recurso teórico para a obra de Joyce. A hipótese do artigo é que a evidência clínica da fala imposta, em um paciente psiquiátrico, e na própria experiência de Joyce, impôs à Lacan o trabalho epistemológico de problematizar o estatuto do significante como representativo do sujeito do inconsciente e, a partir daí, elaborar o conceito de inconsciente em sua relação com a experiência de gozo, e não em relação ao significante.

O artigo em questão se propõe a analisar O caderno rosa de Lori Lamby (1990), de Hilda Hilst, sob a luz das noções barthesianas presentes na obra O prazer do texto (1973). Mais especificamente, trabalharemos a noção de jouissance (gozo), a fim de verificar a hipótese de que a obra hilstiana se caracterizaria no que Barthes chamou de texte de jouissance (texto de gozo). A porosidade entre os seminários de Lacan e Barthes nos anos 1970 convoca-nos a nos debruçarmos sobre o conceito de gozo para Lacan e também sobre os seus primeiros contornos na obra freudiana. Finalmente, refletiremos sobre como o gozo se configura no texto de Hilst, de modo a questionar de que forma a linguagem erótica/pornográfica de que se utiliza corrobora para a potência da transgressão que visa inaugurar com a obra em questão. A proposta será arregimentada com os pressupostos teóricos de Sigmund Freud, Jacques Lacan, Georges Bataille, Eliane Robert Moraes, Alcir Pécora, Lúcia Castello Branco, entre outros. A pesquisa pretende-se, portanto, como uma contribuição aos estudos hilstianos e barthesianos no Brasil e na América Latina, revisitando suas obras e suscitando novas (e plurais) leituras acerca desses autores.

Within an E.U.-funded project, BESS (Pocket Beach Management and Remote Surveillance System), the notion of a geographic information system is an indispensable tool for managing the dynamics of georeferenced data and information for any form of territorial planning. This notion was further explored with the creation of a WebGIS portal that will allow local and regional stakeholders/authorities obtain an easy remote access tool to monitor the status of pocket beaches (PB) in the Maltese Archipelago and Sicily. In this paper, we provide a methodological approach for the implementation of a WebGIS necessary for very detailed dynamic mapping and visualization of geospatial coastal data; the description of the dataset necessary for the monitoring of coastal areas, especially the PBs; and a demonstration of a case study for the PBs of Sicily and Malta by using the methodology and the dataset used during the BESS project. Detailed steps involved in the creation of the WebGIS are presented. These include data preparation, data storage, and data publication and transformation into geo-services. With the help of different Open Geospatial Consortium protocols, the WebGIS displays different layers of information for 134 PBs including orthophotos, sedimentological/geomorphological beach characteristics, shoreline evolution, geometric and morphological parameters, shallow water bathymetry, and photographs of pocket beaches. The WebGIS allows not only for identifying, evaluating, and directing potential solutions to present and arising issues, but also enables public access and involvement. It reflects a platform for future local and regional coastal zone monitoring and management, by promoting public/private involvement in addressing coastal issues and providing local public administrations with an improved technology to monitor coastal changes and help better plan suitable interventions.
