Constructing heterostructural photoanodes is attractive for elevating the photoelectrochemical (PEC) performance, however, it is a long‐standing challenge to achieve highly efficient interfacial charge transfer. Herein, a CoFe metal‐thiolate framework (CoFe MTF)/Fe2O3 photoanode connected by an interfacial Fe─O─N/S bond is designed to modulate the behavior of charge carriers and improve water oxidation performance. It is disclosed that this interfacial bond functions as a direct charge transfer bridge between shallow trap states of Fe2O3 and CoFe MTF, leading to prolonged carrier recombination lifetimes (85 ns for CoFe MTF/Fe2O3 compared to 37 ns for Fe2O3) and enhanced charge transfer efficiency. Alternatively, a robust interfacial electric field is established in the CoFe MTF/Fe2O3 p–n heterojunction, facilitating efficient charge transfer. As expected, the CoFe MTF/Fe2O3 photoanode exhibits significant enhancement in water oxidation, resulting in a three‐fold increase in photocurrent density compared to pristine Fe2O3. Considering that cancer is resulting from the comutation of several essential genes of individual patients, researchers have begun to focus on identifying personalized edge-network biomarkers (PEBs) using personalized edge-network analysis for clinical practice. However, most of existing methods ignored the optimization of PEBs when multimodal biomarkers exist in multi-purpose early disease prediction (MPEDP). To solve this problem, this study proposes a novel model (MMPDENB-RBM) that combines personalized dynamic edge-network biomarkers (PDENB) theory, multimodal optimization strategy and latent space search scheme to identify biomarkers with different configurations of PDENB modules (i.e. to effectively identify multimodal PDENBs). The application to the three largest cancer omics datasets from The Cancer Genome Atlas database (i.e. breast invasive carcinoma, lung squamous cell carcinoma and lung adenocarcinoma) showed that the MMPDENB-RBM model could more effectively predict critical cancer state compared with other advanced methods. And, our model had better convergence, diversity and multimodal property as well as effective optimization ability compared with the other state-of-art methods. Particularly, multimodal PDENBs identified were more enriched with different functional biomarkers simultaneously, such as tissue-specific synthetic lethality edge-biomarkers including cancer driver genes and disease marker genes. Importantly, as our aim, these multimodal biomarkers can perform diverse biological and biomedical significances for drug target screen, survival risk assessment and novel biomedical sight as the expected multi-purpose of personalized early disease prediction. In summary, the present study provides multimodal property of PDENBs, especially the therapeutic biomarkers with more biological significances, which can help with MPEDP of individual cancer patients. Background: Entomopathogenic fungi, representing a class of microbial agent, have been widely used in the field of pest management. The objective of this work was to isolate different species of fungi and to evaluate their virulence against the destructive and invasive red palm weevil (RPW), Rhynchophorus ferrugineus (Olivier) (Coleoptera: Curculionidae). Results: Two new entomopathogenic fungal strains isolated from dead diseased RPWs were identified as Metarhizium anisopliae ZZ-A1 and Fusarium oxysporum ZZ-L1 using growth characteristics, morphology, and rDNA-ITS sequence amplification. Bioassays showed that M. anisopliae ZZ-A1 strain exhibited significantly higher corrected mortality than F. oxysporum ZZ-L1 strain (90.92 vs. 77.28%) in fourth instar RPW larvae 12 days after treatment with a concentration of 1.0 × 1010 conidia/ml, as well as low median lethal concentration (LC50) and median lethal time (LT50) values. Conclusions: The results suggest that both fungal isolates can potentially be developed as effective and persistent a microbial agent against this widespread pest, RPW. Summary: Circadian clocks are 24‐h endogenous oscillators in physiological and behavioral processes. Though recent transcriptomic studies have been successful in revealing the circadian rhythmicity in gene expression, the power calculation for omics circadian analysis have not been fully explored. In this paper, we develop a statistical method, namely CircaPower, to perform power calculation for circadian pattern detection. Our theoretical framework is determined by three key factors in circadian gene detection: sample size, intrinsic effect size and sampling design. Via simulations, we systematically investigate the impact of these key factors on circadian power calculation. We not only demonstrate that CircaPower is fast and accurate, but also show its underlying cosinor model is robust against variety of violations of model assumptions. In real applications, we demonstrate the performance of CircaPower using mouse pan‐tissue data and human post‐mortem brain data, and illustrate how to perform circadian power calculation using mouse skeleton muscle RNA‐Seq pilot as case study. Competition from hydrogen/oxygen evolution reactions and low solubility of N2 in aqueous systems limited the selectivity and activity on nitrogen fixation reaction. Herein, we design an aerobic‐hydrophobic Janus structure by introducing fluorinated modification on porous carbon nanofibers embedded with partially carbonized iron heterojunctions (Fe3C/Fe@PCNF‐F). The simulations prove that the Janus structure can keep the internal Fe3C/Fe@PCNF‐F away from water infiltration and endow a N2 molecular‐concentrating effect, suppressing the competing reactions and overcoming the mass‐transfer limitations to build a robust "quasi‐solid–gas" state micro‐domain around the catalyst surface. In this proof‐of‐concept system, the Fe3C/Fe@PCNF‐F exhibits excellent electrocatalytic performance for nitrogen fixation (NH3 yield rate up to 29.2 μg h−1 mg−1cat. and Faraday efficiency (FE) up to 27.8 % in nitrogen reduction reaction; NO3− yield rate up to 15.7 μg h−1 mg−1cat. and FE up to 3.4 % in nitrogen oxidation reaction). Die überwältigende Konkurrenz durch Wasserstoff/Sauerstoff‐Entwicklungsreaktionen und die geringe Löslichkeit von N2 in wässrigen Systemen beeinträchtigen die Selektivität und Aktivität bei der Stickstofffixierungsreaktion. Hier entwerfen wir eine aerob‐hydrophobe Janus‐Struktur, indem wir eine fluorierte Modifikation auf porösen Kohlenstoff‐Nanofasern einführen, die in teilweise karbonisierte Eisen‐Heterokontakte (Fe3C/Fe@PCNF‐F) eingebettet sind. The rapid emergence of antimicrobial resistance represents a major public health threaten, which necessitates the discovery of novel antibacterial agents. In this study, four gemcitabine derivatives were synthesized by introduction of aromatic substituents at the amine group. Then, the derivates were evaluated for in vitro antibacterial activity against methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) ATCC 33591 and methicillin-sensitive S. aureus (MSSA) ATCC 25923. All derivatives exhibited moderate or good antibacterial activity, among which GEM-3 displayed the most potent antibacterial activity with low minimum inhibitory concentration (MIC) values of 0.5 μg/mL against both MRSA ATCC 33591 and MSSA ATCC 25923. Furthermore, all derivatives showed low cytotoxicity toward human normal cells and tumor cells. Moreover, all derivatives exhibited low hemolytic rates. Besides, the molecular docking study implied that these derivatives may work through targeting deoxyadenosine kinase. Alfven-branch waves provide an efficient means for transporting energy into the auroral oval. Here, we report observations of these waves obtained by the Fengyun-3E (FY-3E)/ACMag instruments, which are designed to detect three-dimensional AC magnetic fields in the 0.05–25 Hz band. The observations suggest that broadband waves are a permanent feature of the auroral oval, although their amplitude and locations vary with the global state of the magnetosphere. We primarily focus on the data obtained from 10 July 2021 to 26 August 2021, during which a series of recurrent storms driven by solar wind corotating interaction regions (CIRs) occurred. Analysis of the observations shows that the auroral-oval waves grow in amplitude (1–3 orders of magnitude) and shift to lower latitude (∼10°) immediately following the decrease in the SYM-H index in each storm. Further investigation reveals the response of the auroral-oval waves has a time scale equal to or less than FY-3E's effective revisiting time, which is about 45 min. The observations presented in this paper confirm that the FY-3E/ACMag instruments provide a high-resolution monitor of the auroral-oval waves and could further our understanding of auroral physics. Twelve-hour (12 h) ultradian rhythms are a well-known phenomenon in coastal marine organisms. While 12 h cycles are observed in human behavior and physiology, no study has measured 12 h rhythms in the human brain. Here, we identify 12 h rhythms in transcripts that either peak at sleep/wake transitions (approximately 9 AM/PM) or static times (approximately 3 PM/AM) in the dorsolateral prefrontal cortex, a region involved in cognition. Subjects with schizophrenia (SZ) lose 12 h rhythms in genes associated with the unfolded protein response and neuronal structural maintenance. Moreover, genes involved in mitochondrial function and protein translation, which normally peak at sleep/wake transitions, peak instead at static times in SZ, suggesting suboptimal timing of these essential processes. Psychosis is a defining feature of schizophrenia and highly prevalent in bipolar disorder. Notably, individuals with these illnesses also have major disruptions in sleep and circadian rhythms, and disturbances of sleep and circadian rhythms can precipitate or exacerbate psychotic symptoms. Psychosis is associated with the striatum, though to our knowledge, no study to date has directly measured molecular rhythms and determined how they are altered in the striatum of subjects with psychosis. We performed RNA sequencing and both differential expression and rhythmicity analyses to investigate diurnal alterations in gene expression in human postmortem striatal subregions (nucleus accumbens, caudate, and putamen) in subjects with psychosis (n = 36) relative to unaffected comparison subjects (n = 36). Across regions, we found differential expression of immune-related transcripts and a substantial loss of rhythmicity in core circadian clock genes in subjects with psychosis. In the nucleus accumbens, mitochondrial-related transcripts had decreased expression in subjects with psychosis, but only in those who died at night. Additionally, we found a loss of rhythmicity in small nucleolar RNAs and a gain of rhythmicity in glutamatergic signaling in the nucleus accumbens of subjects with psychosis. Between-region comparisons indicated that rhythmicity in the caudate and putamen was far more similar in subjects with psychosis than in matched comparison subjects. Together, these findings reveal differential and rhythmic gene expression differences across the striatum that may contribute to striatal dysfunction and psychosis in psychotic disorders. Constructing intimate coupling between transition metal and carbon nanomaterials is an effective means to achieve strong immobilization of lithium polysulfides (LiPSs) in the applications of lithium–sulfur (LiS) batteries. Herein, a universal spinning‐coordinating strategy of constructing continuous metal–nitrogen–carbon (MNC, M = Co, Fe, Ni) heterointerface is reported to covalently bond metal nanoparticles with nitrogen‐doped porous carbon fibers (denoted as M/MN@NPCF). Guided by theoretical simulations, the Co/CoN@NPCF hybrid is synthesized as a proof of concept and used as an efficient sulfur host material. The polarized CoNC bridging bonds can induce rapid electron transfer from Co nanoparticles to the NPCF skeleton, promoting the chemical anchoring of LiPSs to improve sulfur utilization. Hence, the as‐assembled LiS battery presents a remarkable capacity of 781 mAh g−1 at 2.0 C and a prominent cycling lifespan with a low decay rate of only 0.032% per cycle. Additionally, a well‐designed Co/CoN@NPCF‐S electrode with a high sulfur loading of 7.1 mg cm−2 is further achieved by 3D printing technique, which demonstrates an excellent areal capacity of 6.4 mAh cm−2 at 0.2 C under a lean‐electrolyte condition. Finding personalized biomarkers for disease prediction of patients with cancer remains a massive challenge in precision medicine. Most methods focus on one subnetwork or module as a network biomarker; however, this ignores the early warning capabilities of other modules with different configurations of biomarkers (i.e. multi-modal personalized biomarkers). Identifying such modules would not only predict disease but also provide effective therapeutic drug target information for individual patients. To solve this problem, we developed a novel model (denoted multi-modal personalized dynamic network biomarkers (MMPDNB)) based on a multi-modal optimization mechanism and personalized dynamic network biomarker (PDNB) theory, which can provide multiple modules of personalized biomarkers and unveil their multi-modal properties. Using the genomics data of patients with breast or lung cancer from The Cancer Genome Atlas database, we validated the effectiveness of the MMPDNB model. The experimental results showed that compared with other advanced methods, MMPDNB can more effectively predict the critical state with the highest early warning signal score during cancer development. Furthermore, MMPDNB more significantly identified PDNBs containing driver and biomarker genes specific to cancer tissues. More importantly, we validated the biological significance of multi-modal PDNBs, which could provide effective drug targets of individual patients as well as markers for predicting early warning signals of the critical disease state. In conclusion, multi-modal optimization is an effective method to identify PDNBs and offers a new perspective for understanding tumor heterogeneity in cancer precision medicine. Glioma is a deadly tumor that accounts for the vast majority of brain tumors. Thus, it is important to elucidate the molecular pathogenesis and potential diagnostic and prognostic biomarkers of glioma. In the present study, gene expression profiles of GSE2223 were obtained from the Gene Expression Omnibus (GEO) database. Core modules and hub genes related to glioma were identified using weighted gene coexpression network analysis (WGCNA) and protein-protein interaction (PPI) network analysis of differentially expressed genes (DEGs). After a series of database screening tests, we identified 11 modules during glioma progression, followed by six hub genes (RAB3A, TYROBP, SYP, CAMK2A, VSIG4, and GABRA1) that can predict the prognosis of glioma and were validated in glioma tissues by qRT-PCR. The CIBERSORT algorithm was used to analyze the difference of immune cell infiltration between the glioma and control groups. Summary: Polycomb dictates developmental programs in higher eukaryotes, including flowering plants. A phytohormone, abscisic acid (ABA), plays a pivotal role in seed and seedling development and mediates responses to multiple environmental stresses, such as salinity and drought.In this study, we show that ABA affects the Polycomb Repressive Complex 2 (PRC2)‐mediated Histone H3 Lys 27 trimethylation (H3K27me3) through VIN3‐LIKE1/VERNALIZATION 5 (VIL1/VRN5) to fine‐tune the timely repression of ABSCISIC ACID INSENSITIVE 3 (ABI3) and ABSCISIC ACID INSENSITIVE 4 (ABI4) in Arabidopsis thaliana.vil1 mutants exhibit hypersensitivity to ABA during early seed germination and show enhanced drought tolerance.Our study revealed that the ABA signaling pathway utilizes a facultative component of the chromatin remodeling complex to demarcate the level of expression of ABA‐responsive genes. Hybrid capacitors exhibit promise to bridge the gap between rechargeable high‐energy density batteries and high‐power density supercapacitors. This separation is due to sluggish ion/electron diffusion and inferior structural stability of battery‐type materials. Here, a topochemistry‐driven method for constructing expanded 2D rhenium selenide intercalated by nitrogen‐doped carbon hybrid (E‐ReSe2@INC) with a strong‐coupled interface and weak van der Waals forces, is proposed. X‐ray absorption spectroscopy analysis dynamically tracks the transformation from ReO into ReC bonds. The bridging bonds act as electron transport channels to enable improved conductivity and accelerated reaction kinetics. The expanded interlayer‐spacing of ReSe2 layer by INC facilitates ion diffusion and ensures structural stability. As expected, the E‐ReSe2@INC achieves an improved rate capability (252.5 mAh g−1 at 20 A g−1) and long‐term cyclability (89.6% over 3500 cycles). Moreover, theoretical simulations reveal the favorable Na+ storage kinetics can be ascribed to its low bonding energy of −0.06 eV and diffusion barrier of 0.08 eV for sodium ions. Additionally, it is demonstrated that 3D printed sodium‐ion hybrid capacitors deliver high energies/power densities of 81.4 Wh kg−1/0.32 mWh cm−2 and 9992.1 W kg−1/38.76 mW cm−2, as well as applicability in a wide temperature range. 3D-printed micro-supercapacitors (MSCs) have emerged as the ideal candidates for energy storage devices owing to their unique characteristics of miniaturization, structural diversity, and integration. Exploring the 3D printing technology for various materials and architectures of MSCs is key to realizing customization and optimizing the performance of 3D-printed MSCs. In this review, we summarize the latest progress in 3D-printed MSCs with regards to general printing approaches, printable materials, and rational design considerations. Specifically, several general types of 3D printing techniques (their working principles, available materials, resolutions, advantages, and disadvantages) and their applications to fabricate electrodes with different energy storage mechanisms, and various electrolytes, are summarized. We further discuss research directions in terms of integrated systems with other electronics. The cytoplasm, serving as the primary hub of cellular metabolism, stands as a pivotal cornerstone for the harmonious progression of life. The ideal artificial cell should not only have a biomembrane structure system similar to that of a cell and the function of carrying genetic information, but also should have an intracellular environment. In this pursuit, we employed a method involving the incorporation of glycerol into agarose, resulting in the formation of agarose-glycerol mixed sol (AGs). This dynamic sol exhibited fluidic properties at ambient temperature, closely mimicking the viscosity of authentic cytoplasm. Harnessing the electroformation technique, AGs was encapsulated within liposomes, enabling the efficient creation of artificial cells that closely resembled native cellular dimensions through meticulous parameter adjustments of the alternating current (AC) field. Subsequently, artificial cells harboring AGs were subjected to diverse electrolyte and non-electrolyte solutions, enabling a comprehensive exploration of their deformation phenomena, encompassing both inward and outward budding. This study represents a significant stride forward in addressing one of the most fundamental challenges in the construction of artificial cytoplasm. Summary: Evolutionarily conserved DEK domain‐containing proteins have been implicated in multiple chromatin‐related processes, mRNA splicing and transcriptional regulation in eukaryotes.Here, we show that two DEK proteins, DEK3 and DEK4, control the floral transition in Arabidopsis. DEK3 and DEK4 directly associate with chromatin of related flowering repressors, FLOWERING LOCUS C (FLC), and its two homologs, MADS AFFECTING FLOWERING4 (MAF4) and MAF5, to promote their expression.The binding of DEK3 and DEK4 to a histone octamer in vivo affects histone modifications at FLC, MAF4 and MAF5 loci. In addition, DEK3 and DEK4 interact with RNA polymerase II and promote the association of RNA polymerase II with FLC, MAF4 and MAF5 chromatin to promote their expression.Our results show that DEK3 and DEK4 directly interact with chromatin to facilitate the transcription of key flowering repressors and thus prevent precocious flowering in Arabidopsis. In this study, the plasma oxidation effect in tin-oxide (SnOx) thin film was investigated. And on this basis, we fabricated n-type thin-film transistors (TFTs) using the SnOx thin film with the plasma oxidation by experiments. By adjusting the processing time of the oxygen plasma treatment (OPT), the optimized SnOx TFT device exhibited an extremely high field-effect mobility of 87.6 cm2 V−1 s−1, a desirable on-to-off current ratio of 1.9 × 104 and a threshold voltage of − 0.9 V. Furthermore, we investigated the origin of the performance enhancements in the n-type SnOx TFTs with the optimized OPT by introducing the density of states (DOS) modeling in TCAD simulation. The numerical simulation indicated that the attributes of donor-like Gaussian defect states (oxygen vacancies) were modified in overall DOS due to the plasma oxidation effect. Size engineering is deemed to be an adoptable method to boost the electrochemical properties of potassium‐ion storage; however, it remains a critical challenge to significantly reduce the nanoparticle size without compromising the uniformity. In this work, a series of MoP nanoparticle splotched nitrogen‐doped carbon nanosheets (MoP@NC) is synthesized. Due to the coordinate and hydrogen bonds in the water‐soluble polyacrylamide hydrogel, MoP is uniformly confined in a 3D porous NC to form ultrafine nanoparticles which facilitate the extreme exposure of abundant three‐phase boundaries (MoP, NC, and electrolyte) for ionic binding and storage. Consequently, MoP@NC‐1 delivers an excellent capacity performance (256.1 mAh g−1 at 0.1 A g−1) and long‐term cycling durability (89.9% capacitance retention after 800 cycles). It is further confirmed via density functional theory calculations that the smaller the MoP nanoparticle, the larger the three‐phase boundary achieved for favoring competitive binding energy toward potassium ions. Finally, MoP@NC‐1 is applied as highly electroactive additive for 3D printing ink to fabricate 3D‐printed potassium‐ion hybrid capacitors, which delivers high gravimetric energy/power density of 69.7 Wh kg−1/2041.6 W kg−1, as well as favorable areal energy/power density of 0.34 mWh cm−2/9.97 mW cm−2. We developed a novel strategy to fabricate a magnetic-responsive Pickering emulsion for more effectively and controllably biphase catalysis reactions. The Pickering emulsions were stabilized by magnetite/reduced graphene oxide/Pd (MRGO–Pd) nanocomposite patches. The MRGO–Pd nanocomposite patches at the oil/water interfaces showed excellent catalytic activity towards the oxidation of Sudan-4 and hydrogenation of 4-NT. This system effectively degraded the Sudan-4 (or converted the 4-NT to 4-Tol) with a yield as high as 90% after 10 repeated reuses. For the same reaction, the MRGO–Pd nanocomposite was cycled 8 times, and the catalyst loss was negligible. The developed Pickering emulsion system has a great potential in the field of catalysis. This comprehensive review firstly introduces the latest research progress in artificial micro/nanomotors (AM/Ns) design, while also considering the impact of different driving conditions on their operation. Additionally, the controlling factors of AM/Ns motion behavior are discussed. Thirdly, this review summarizes the research progress of AM/Ns in the biomedical and environmental fields. Finally, the challenges and future development directions faced by AM/Ns are presented. In this study, a new adaptive morphological filter is developed based on the mathematical morphology algorithm and characteristics of the subtle differences in the waveform morphology in seismic data. The algorithm improves the traditional morphological dilation and corrosion operations. In this study, we propose a multiscale adaptive operator based on the principle of morphological structural "probes" and present the corresponding mathematical proof. Simulation experiments and actual seismic data processing results show that compared with traditional morphological filters, the constructed OCCO-based multistructure adaptive morphological filter can suppress noise to the greatest extent. To restrict the HER, we report a novel method by burying selenium vacancy‐rich ReSe2@carbonized bacterial cellulose (Vr‐ReSe2@CBC) nanofibers between two CBC layers, leading to boosted Faradaic efficiency of 42.5 % and ammonia yield of 28.3 μg h−1 cm−2 at a potential of −0.25 V on an abrupt interface. Summary: Thousands of differentially expressed genes (DEGs) have been identified in rice under drought stress conditions. However, the regulatory mechanism of these DEGs remains largely unclear. Here, we report an interplay between histone H3K4me3 modification and transcription factor OsbZIP23 in the regulation of a dehydrin gene cluster under drought stress conditions in rice. When the H3K4me3 modification level was increased, the dehydrin gene expression levels were increased, and the binding levels of OsbZIP23 to the promoter of the dehydrin genes were also enhanced. Conversely, the H3K4me3 modification and dehydrin gene expression levels were downregulated in the osbzip23 mutant under drought stress conditions. Our study uncovers a collaboration between transcription factor and H3K4me3 modification in the regulation of drought‐responsive genes, which will help us to further understand the gene regulation mechanism under stress conditions in plants. Background: Long non-coding RNAs (lncRNAs) have emerged as important roles in gastric cancer (GC). However, the role of the dysregulated lncRNAs in GC remained large unknown. We investigated the clinical significance, biological function and mechanism of CTC-497E21.4 in GC. Methods: Firstly, RTFQ-PCR was used to detect the expression of CTC-497E21.4 in GC. Furthermore, knockdown of CTC-497E21.4 was conducted to assess the effect of CTC-497E21.4 in vitro and vivo. Subcellular localization of CTC-497E21.4 was determined by nuclear plasmolysis PCR and FISH. We also predicted CTC-497E21.4 binding miRNAs and downstream target genes and evaluated its regulation of miR-22 by acting as a ceRNA. Result: CTC-497E21.4 was upregulated in GC tissues and GC cell lines (P < 0.05), and the expression was associated with depth of invasion, lymph node metastasis, and neurological invasion. Besides, knockdown of CTC-497E21.4 inhibited cell proliferation, invasion and promoted cell cycle arrest in vitro and inhibited tumorigenesis in vivo. Mechanistic investigations indicated that CTC-497E21.4 acted as a ceRNA for miR-22 and regulated NET1 expression. CTC-497E21.4/miR-22-3p/NET1 participated in the RhoA signaling pathway in the GC progression. Soft soil deformation is not only related to the stress state, but is also related to time and exhibits viscoelastic--plastic characteristics. The generalized Nishihara model was developed from 1D state into 3D state and the viscoplastic soft matrix based on the Drucker--Prager yield model and the viscoelastic soft matrix of 2D and 3D units were established using the incremental finite element method. On the basis of the aforementioned model and matrices, a program for the soft soil adhesion elastoplastic constitutive model was developed using ADINA software. Lastly, the program was used to calculate the soft clay roadbed settlement of Dongting Lake and the settlement change law of the embankment centerline on the 300th day was determined. Results are consistent with the measured values, indicating that the secondary development of this research can be used to analyze the engineering problems of lacustrine facies soft soil roadbed settlement. Integrable and nonintegrable discrete nonlinear Schrödinger equations (NLS) are significant models to describe many phenomena in physics. Recently, Ablowitz and Musslimani introduced a class of reverse space, reverse time, and reverse space-time nonlocal integrable equations, including the nonlocal NLS equation, nonlocal sine-Gordon equation, nonlocal Davey-Stewartson equation, etc. Moreover, the integrable nonlocal discrete NLS has been exactly solved by inverse scattering transform. In this paper, we study a nonintegrable discrete nonlocal NLS, which is a direct discrete version of the reverse space nonlocal NLS. By applying discrete Fourier transform and modified Neumann iteration, we present its stationary solutions numerically. The linear stability of the stationary solutions is examined. Finally, we study the Cauchy problem for the nonlocal NLS equation numerically and find some different and new properties on the numerical solutions comparing with the numerical solutions of the Cauchy problem for the NLS equation. Background: Long non-coding RNAs (lncRNAs) have been reported to play a key role in gastric cancer (GC) tumorigenesis. However, the clinical application value of serum lncRNAs in GC has remained largely unknown. We investigated the role of a novel lncRNA named CTC-497E21.4 in the diagnosis and the prognosis of GC. Methods: We focused on evaluation of lncRNA CTC-497E21.4 by real-time fluorescent quantitative polymerase chain reaction (RTFQ-PCR). The study involved following aspects: (1) confirmation of the higher lncRNA CTC-497E21.4 expression in different types of GC specimens than corresponding controls; (2) evaluation of monitoring tumor dynamics by the serum lncRNA CTC-497E21.4 assay; (3) evaluation of the prognostic value of lncRNA CTC-497E21.4 assay in GC. Results: (1) The method of RTFQ-PCR detection of lncRNA CTC-497E21.4 was evaluated to have high sensitivity and specificity. (2) The expression levels of lncRNA CTC-497E21.4 were higher in GC patients compared with corresponding controls (p<0.001), and the combination of serum lncRNA CTC-497E21.4, CEA and CA19-9 could improve diagnostic sensitivity (96.36%). (3) The serum lncRNA CTC-497E21.4 expression levels were lower in postoperative samples than preoperative samples (p=0.0021) and survival curves downloaded from TCGA showed high lncRNA CTC-497E21.4 levels were associated with poor OS of GC (p=0.0351). The first priority of drug combination therapy in the treatment of cancer is to achieve enhanced therapeutic efficacy and reduced side effects. The main issue in drug combination therapy is the inscrutable interaction between different drug components. Herein, we developed a multicompartmentalized architecture as a new delivery system. A host liposome encapsulates multiple guest liposomes, where various drug components were loaded into disparate compartments separately. This strategy avoids the interaction among different components before their arrival at the targeting sites and provides the fixed drug combination ratio as needed. Doxorubicin (DOX) and 5-fluorouacil (5FU) loaded smaller liposomes were encapsulated into bigger liposomes with a fixed dose ratio of DOX to 5FU. In vivo tumor growth inhibition by vesosomes was evaluated in HeLa tumor-bearing nude mice, which confirms the enhancement of the delivery system on the synergism of the drug combination. Abstract Ethnopharmacological relevance Plants of Epilobium angustifolium are popular in China to treatment of traumatic injury, subduing inflammation and menstrual disorders. In European, the preparations or extracts containing E. angustifolium are popular to treat prostate diseases. Recent research suggested that E. angustifolium showed therapeutic effects in early stage of BPH, inflammation of urethra and prostate, as well as micturition problems. And the related researches were focus on aqueous extract and its main constituent of oenothein B. Aim of the study This study aims to evaluate the therapeutic effect against BPH of the ethyl acetate extracts (EAE) and n -butanol extracts (BUE) from E. angustifolium and to chemical investigation of the active constituents. Materials and methods The in vitro anti-BPH activity was assessed by determining the benign prostatic hyperplasia epithelial-1 (BPH-1) cell viability using MTT assay as well as suppressing of prostate specific antigen (PSA) secretion in prostate epithelial cancer hormone-dependent (LNCaP) cells measured by ELISA method. The in vivo anti-BPH was evaluated by testosterone propionate induced BPH SD rats. After oral administration of BUE at 100, 200 and 400 mg/kg B.W. for 28 days, the prostate weight and index, plasma androgen level, histopathological alteration, oxidative and inflammatory-related factors in prostate were assessed. Phytochemical investigation on active extracts was carried by chromatographic and spectroscopic techniques. Anti-BPH activities of the isolates were evaluated in vitro. Results BUE and EAE from E. angustifolium exhibited significant anti-BPH effect in vitro. Further in vivo study demonstrated that BUE exhibited therapeutic effects against TP-induced BPH in SD rats via down-regulating of the androgen level, suppressing the expression of NF-κB and eventually alleviating the inflammatory responses and oxidative stress. Phytochemical research on BUE and EAE extracts led to the isolation and identification of 50 compounds. In vitro anti-BPH screening revealed that 26 compounds exhibited anti-proliferation in BHP-1 cell and 36 compounds showed PSA inhibition in LNCap cell, in which 7 compounds exhibited very significant anti-BPH activities in both two cell lines (P < 0.01), 5 compounds with extremely significant activities in one of the cell lines (P < 0.001), and compound 25 exhibited the most potent anti-BPH activity (P < 0.001). Underwater operational turbine noise emitted by China's first offshore wind farm in the East China Sea Bridge of Shanghai was measured and analyzed in this study. Two sensors were used in the measurement: a hydrophone recording the underwater sound and an accelerometer placed in the turbine tower detecting the tower vibrations. Measurements were performed at two different types of wind turbines: a Sinovel 3 MW SL3000 turbine and a Shanghai Electric 3.6 MW W3600 turbine. The two turbines show similar tower vibration characteristics, characterized by a number of tonal components, mainly in the low-frequency domain (30–500 Hz). The peak vibration frequencies changed with the wind speed until the turbine approached its nominal power rating. Spectral analysis of the underwater acoustic data showed that the amplitude spectra had a strong correlation with the spectra of the turbine vibration intensity level, indicating that the measured underwater noise was generated by the tower mechanical vibration. The permeability (P) of DMPC, DMPC/10 mol% Chol GUVs, DMPC/25 mol% Chol GUVs, and DMPC/40 mol% Chol GUVs in glucose, sucrose, LiCl, and KCl solutions were all obtained. The P value decreases with the addition of more cholesterol in the bilayer. The monovalent cations caused higher permeability of lipid bilayer membranes due to their combination with phospholipids. Gastric cancer (GC) is one of the most common cancers globally. Because of the high frequency of tumor recurrence, or metastasis, after surgical resection, the prognosis of patients with GC is poor. Therefore, exploring the mechanisms underlying GC is of great importance. Recently, accumulating evidence has begun to show that dysregulated long non-coding RNAs (lncRNAs) participate in the progression of GC via several typical signaling pathways, such as the AKT and MAPK signaling pathways. Moreover, the interactions between lncRNAs and microRNAs appear to represent a novel mechanism in the pathogenesis of GC. Abstract: A novel technique to design a mobile phone antenna by using an ultrawideband (UWB) antenna configuration is proposed. The technique is validated with a novel printed slot antenna configuration. The slot is composed of a circle connected to a trapezoid and fed by means of a 50 Ω microstrip line connected to a patch with similar shape to the slot. An UWB antenna with size of 19 mm × 24 mm and measured −10 dB bandwidth of 2.97‐11.32 GHz is developed based on the configuration. When the configuration is applied in a system circuit board of 60 mm × 115 mm to design a mobile phone antenna, the simulated −6 dB bandwidths are 1.0‐1.2 GHz and 2.25‐15 GHz. To enhance antenna bandwidth, another slot with rectangular shape is etched in the ground plane, and the microstrip line is moved to the center of the circuit board and folded to distribute along the rectangular slot. The attenuation factor or quality factor (Q-factor or Q) has been used to measure the energy attenuation of seismic waves propagating in underground media. Many methods are used to estimate the Q-factor. We propose a method to calculate the Q-factor based on the prestack Q-factor inversion and the generalized S-transform. The proposed method specifies a standard primary wavelet and calculates the cumulative Q-factors; then, it finds the interlaminar Q-factors using the relation between Q and offset (QVO) and the Dix formula. The proposed method is alternative to methods that calculate interlaminar Q-factors after horizon picking. Because the frequency spectrum of each horizon can be extracted continuously on a 2D time-frequency spectrum, the method is called the continuous spectral ratio slope (CSRS) method. Compared with the other Q-inversion methods, the method offers nearly effortless computations and stability, and has mathematical and physical significance. We use numerical modeling to verify the feasibility of the method and apply it to real data from an oilfield in Ahdeb, Iraq. The results suggest that the resolution and spatial stability of the Q-profile are optimal and contain abundant interlaminar information that is extremely helpful in making lithology and fluid predictions. As promising drug delivery vehicles, previous investigations of liposomes as carriers are primarily focused on insertion and modification of lipid membrane interfaces. The utility of the inner core seems to be overlooked. Herein, we developed pH-sensitive liposomes (PSLs) containing an aqueous two phase system (ATPS), and intriguingly discovered their hierarchical release under acidic stimuli. ATPS containing two polymers (poly(ethylene glycol) (PEG) and dextran) is homogeneous above phase transition temperature when producing ATPS-liposomes, and separated into PEG-rich phase and dextran-rich phase after cooling down to room temperature. The overall release time of ATPS-liposomes is divided into two stages and prolonged compared to simple aqueous liposomes. The unique release profile is due to the disproportional distribution of drugs in two phases. Doxorubicin (DOX) is loaded in the ATPS-liposomes, and their half maximum inhibition concentration on HeLa cells is 0.018 μmol L −1 , which means 27.5 fold increase in inhibition efficiency over free DOX. Cortical dysplasia is the most common etiology of intractable epilepsy. Both excitability changes in cortical neurons and neural network reconstitution play a role in cortical dysplasia epileptogenesis. Recent research shows that the axon initial segment, a subcompartment of the neuron important to the shaping of action potentials, adjusts its position in response to changes in input, which contributes to neuronal excitability and local circuit balance. It is unknown whether axon initial segment plasticity occurs in neurons involved in seizure susceptibility in cortical dysplasia. Here, we developed a “Carmustine”- “pilocarpine” rat model of cortical dysplasia and show that it exhibits a lower seizure threshold, as indicated by behavior studies and electroencephalogram monitoring. Using immunofluorescence, we measured the axon initial segment positions of deep L5 somatosensory neurons and show that it is positioned closer to the soma after acute seizure, and that this displacement is sustained in the chronic phase. We then show that Nifedipine has a dose-dependent protective effect against axon initial segment displacement and increased seizure susceptibility. Breakdown of Schmid's law is a long-standing problem for exploring the orientation-dependent deformation mechanism in intermetallics. The lack of atomic-level understanding of the selection rules for the plastic deformation modes has seriously limited designing strong and ductile intermetallics for high-temperature applications. Here we put forward a transparent model solely based on first principles simulations for mapping the deformation modes in γ -TiAl polysynthetic twinned alloys. The model bridges intrinsic energy barriers and different deformation mechanisms and beautifully resolves the complexity of the observed orientation-dependent deformation mechanisms. In order to maximize the value of an organization's data assets, it is important to keep data in its databases up-to-date. In the era of big data, however, constantly changing data sources make it a challenging task to assure data timeliness in enterprise systems. For instance, due to the high frequency of purchase transactions, purchase data stored in an enterprise resource planning system can easily become outdated, affecting the accuracy of inventory data and the quality of inventory replenishment decisions. Despite the importance of data timeliness, updating a database as soon as new data arrives is typically not optimal because of high update cost. Therefore, a critical problem in this context is to determine the optimal update policy for database systems. In this study, we develop a Markov decision process model, solved via dynamic programming, to derive the optimal update policy that minimizes the sum of data staleness cost and update cost. Based on real-world enterprise data, we conduct experiments to evaluate the performance of the proposed update policy in relation to benchmark policies analyzed in the prior literature. Background Tip necrosis in the perforator flap is a significant problem in clinical practice. This study aimed to characterize the vasculature of a multiterritory perforator flap using a rat model and to investigate the impact of the vasculature on flap survival. Methods In total, 105 Sprague Dawley rats were divided into seven groups, including the control, 3 hours postoperative (PO), 12 hours PO, 1 day PO, 3 days PO, 5 days PO, and 7 days PO. A perforator flap with three territories based on the deep iliac circumflex artery was performed. Flaps with only skin incisions and vessel exposure were performed in the control group. The first choke zone (FCZ) was located between the anatomical and dynamic territories, and the second choke zone (SCZ) was located between the dynamic and potential territories. Sodium fluorescein and lead oxidegelatin angiography and histological examination were performed in each group. Results Sodium fluorescein angiography revealed delayed staining in the perforator flap PO, particularly in the FCZ and SCZ. The delay phenomenon disappeared after 12 hours PO in the FCZ and after 1 day PO in the SCZ. Nonfluorescein-stained areas were found distal to the potential territory. In the FCZ PO, the choke vessels were dilated, while the number of microvessels was increased in the SCZ without choke vessel dilation. Conclusions The remodeling of choke vessels and increase in microvessel number represent arteriogenesis and angiogenesis, respectively. Although various molecules have been found to mediate the processes of memory acquisition and consolidation, the molecular mechanism to maintain memory still remains elusive. In recent years, a molecular pathway focusing on protein kinase Mζ (PKMζ) has become of interest to researchers because of its potential role in long-term memory maintenance. PKMζ is an isoform of protein kinase C (PKC) and has a related structure that influences its function in maintaining memory. Considerable evidence has been gathered on PKMζ activity, including loss of function studies using PKMζ inhibitors, such as PKMζ inhibitory peptide (ZIP), suggesting PKMζ plays an important role in long-term memory maintenance. This review provides an overview of the role of PKMζ in long-term memory and outlines the molecular structure of PKMζ, the molecular mechanism of PKMζ in long-term memory maintenance and future directions of PKMζ research. Wenxin Formula (WXF) is a well-known prescription with a significant curative effect in the treatment of cardiac disease. However, the lack of quality control standards caused by unclear quality control components limits the development of new drugs. Aim of the study : The aims of this research were to discover the effective materials and screen the quality markers of WXF through a chinmedomics strategy to aid in efficacy evaluation. The therapeutic effect of WXF against myocardial ischaemia (MI) was evaluated by serum metabolic profiling combined with routine electrocardiography; analyses of the serum biochemical indices CK, CK-MB and α-HBDH; and histopathological tests involving TTC staining and HE staining. The raw data of serum samples were obtained by UPLC-HDMS, and multivariate statistical analysis was performed with Progenesis QI software. PCMS software was used to sift the quality markers of WXF. A total of 25 metabolites were characterized as biomarkers for myocardial ischaemia, and Wenxin Formula reversed the levels of 23 of them that were involved in arachidonic acid metabolism, glycerophospholipid metabolism, lysine degradation, and tyrosine metabolism. Eight constituents absorbed into blood were considered to form the effective material basis of Wenxin Formula for treating myocardial ischaemia, and the Q-markers selected through PCMS were ginsenoside Rb1, cinnamic acid, paeoniflorin and berberine. WXF significantly ameliorated the clinical symptoms, pathological changes and metabolic abnormalities of myocardial ischaemia. Stimuli-responsive drug carriers are considered to play important roles in chemotherapy. We fabricated pH-sensitive polydopamine-protected liposomes (liposome@PDA) drug delivery systems, which were characterised with microscope, scanning electron microscope (SEM), UV-vis spectrometer and Fourier transform infrared (FTIR) technieques. The typical chemotherapeutic agent, 5-fluorouracil (5-FU), was loaded into liposome@PDA capsules. The maximum release percentages of 5-FU are 3.2%, 29.5%, 52.7%, 76.7% in the solution with pH 7.42, 6.87, 4.11 and 3.16, respectively. Thein vitrocell cytotoxity experiments were carried out using 5-FU-loaded capsules at pH 6.87 solution, which simulate the true pH around cancerous cells. At 1.5 μM concentration, the free 5-FU, 5-FU-loaded liposome capsules and 5-FU-loaded capsules showed the cell viability of 50.56%, 22.66% and 21.63%, respectively. It confirms that drug-loaded capsules performed better than free drug. The results demonstrate the great potential of liposome@PDA capsules as carriers in biomedical applications.
