RAS mutations lead to a constitutively active oncogenic protein that signals through multiple effector pathways. In this chemical biology study, we describe a novel coupled biochemical assay that measures activation of the effector BRAF by prenylated KRASG12V in a lipid-dependent manner. Using this assay, we discovered compounds that block biochemical and cellular functions of KRASG12V with low single-digit micromolar potency. We characterized the structural basis for inhibition using NMR methods and showed that the compounds stabilized the inactive conformation of KRASG12V. Determination of the biophysical affinity of binding using biolayer interferometry demonstrated that the potency of inhibition matches the affinity of binding only when KRAS is in its native state, namely post-translationally modified and in a lipid environment. The assays we describe here provide a first-time alignment across biochemical, biophysical, and cellular KRAS assays through incorporation of key physiological factors regulating RAS biology, namely a negatively charged lipid environment and prenylation, into the in vitro assays. These assays and the ligands we discovered are valuable tools for further study of KRAS inhibition and drug discovery.

Abstract Objectives This data note contains updated characterization factors including the corresponding datasets for the integrated method to assess resource efficiency (abbreviated as ESSENZ) as well as its successor (ESSENZ+) utilized in assessing the criticality of 48 abiotic resources. The updated characterization factors enable life cycle-based case studies of product systems to determine criticality aspects as well as aspects related to compliance with social and environmental impacts. Underlying data is provided as it is needed for efficiently interpreting the results. Data description Data was collected from publicly available source, including i.e. the United States Geological Survey for abiotic resource production and reserves, the Fraser Institute for the Policy Perception Index, the World Economic Forum for the Enabling Trade Index, the World Bank for the Worldwide Governance Indicators and the German Mineral Resources Agency for price fluctuations. The compiled data has been reorganized and recalculated in accordance with the principles outlined in the published ESSENZ and ESSENZ + method, serving as a foundation for the calculation of the characterization factors for assessing criticality and compliance with social and environmental impacts.

IntroductionSpecialized public services for attending children and adolescents with complaints of scholar difficulties are scarce in Brazil. It is important to recognize this target population and understand its demands, so these facilities may be able to meet their needs and offer qualified and effective services. The main objective of this study was to characterize the profile of neuropediatric patients cared for in a reference outpatient facility in Brazil.MethodData were extracted from children’s and adolescent’s records, corresponding to assessments carried out between March 2017 to March 2023.ResultsFrom 220 selected records, 70% had complaints related to learning difficulties and 79.1% to attention disorders. The most frequent diagnoses were attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (30%), intellectual deficiency (19.1%), and learning-specific disorder (17.7%). ABSTRACT Background and Aims The expected outcomes of the Covid‐19 pandemic have a supposedly worsened impact on mental health and suicidal risk. Traditionally, males were supposed to have heightened Aggression and impulsivity in stressful times. We aim to measure the actual differences that existed during the COVID‐19 pandemic across male and female participants. Methods An overall number of 288 females/95 males (mean age: men = 34.97; women = 32.90 years) participants were recruited. The protocol included questionnaires about suicidal risk, anxiety, depression, impulsivity, aggression, hopelessness, and demographics. Results Differences exist in the sense of loneliness, the number of persons being isolated with, anxiety, and several impulsivity subdimensions. A correlation existed for both men and women for anxiety and depression, revealing the impact of aggression. Suicide men's scores correlated with anxiety and depression, lack of premeditation, and hopelessness. Women also had such correlation, except for lack of perseverance, social dimensions, and aggression. Analyses reveal the predictive impact of hopelessness and aggression on anxiety, depression, and suicidal risk predominantly in females. Conclusion Our results contradict common ideas that men have heightened aggression and impulsivity. Further research needs to address aggression issues.

Abstract Background When the 21 Swedish county councils decided to collaborate in the creation of a national system for knowledge-based management, patient participation was mandatory. Patient and next-of-kin representatives (PR) co-produced person-centred and cohesive clinical pathways together with healthcare professionals (HPR). Research on co-production in healthcare at the national level is scarce. The aim of this study is to explore experiences of patient participation from the perspectives of both PRs and HPRs when co-producing clinical pathways within the Swedish nationwide healthcare system for knowledge-based management. Methods A qualitative study was conducted. A strategic sample of nine PRs and eight HPRs were interviewed individually between August 2022 and January 2023 using a semi-structured interview guide. We analysed data using an inductive content analysis. Results Three main categories were identified: (1) Finding appropriate patient representativeness; (2) Working methods that facilitate a patient perspective; and (3) Influence of the patient perspective in the clinical pathways. Conclusions The study demonstrates the importance of patient and next-of-kin participation in the construction of clinical pathways at the national level. The results provide a platform for further research on patient participation on the national level and add to studies on if and how patient participation on this level has an impact on how the clinical pathways are put into practice at the micro level, and the support provided at the meso level. The study contributes to the growing body of literature studying patient participation and co-production. Trial registration Region Örebro County ID 276,940. In recent years, the global demand for medicinal plants has been rising steadily. This study focuses on cultivating Aloe vera within a large-scale, pilot smart greenhouse installed at the University of Patras, Greece. The integration of advanced Internet of Things (IoT) technologies, sensors, and the KYTION cablebot robotic device plays a crucial role in monitoring the cultivation process and deriving valuable insights. The greenhouse structure presented in this study not only recognizes these challenges but actively addresses them through state-of-the-art IoT technology-based measurements. Preliminary quantitative results indicate that cultivating A. vera in greenhouses significantly enhances blooming and production compared to open-field cultivation. This promising approach addresses the growing demand for A. vera specifically and medicinal plants in general. Additionally, it maximizes the use of available arable land, labor, water, and energy, ensuring stable production under unstable and variable climatic conditions. The study aims to control and automate the microclimate, optimizing conditions for A. vera growth within a controlled digital environment. By offering insights into the intersection of smart agricultural practices, technology-driven measurement and automation, and ad-hoc crop-specific cultivation strategies, this research provides a promising pathway for sustainably enhancing A. vera cultivation in controlled environments.

Background: In psychotherapy, physical exercise has gained recognition and extensive research attention, displaying promise in various mental health conditions. Practices such as yoga, tai chi, and the Feldenkrais Method® (FM) have also emerged as effective mental health interventions. Objectives: This systematic literature review (SLR) explores the applicability of FM, a somatic practice, in psychiatric care and emotional regulation, as it emphasizes the interplay between bodily sensations, action patterns, and cognitive processes. Methods: Following PRISMA guidelines, a systematic search was conducted across selected databases from 2000 to 2022, identifying 14 articles, including randomized controlled trials, cohort studies, narrative papers, and SLRs. Thematic analysis was conducted. Results: The findings indicate global FM adoption, primarily in studies related to pain conditions, musculoskeletal disorders, and neurological disorders. Various measures were used, covering quality of life, psychological dimensions, self-image, self-efficacy, mindfulness, and interoception. However, direct application of FM in psychiatric care remains limited, with few studies addressing psychological issues. This review calls for more comprehensive investigations of FM’s potential in psychiatric contexts, advocating precise measures and a dimensional approach to assessing psychological outcomes. Conclusion: Further research is needed to explore the application of FM in psychiatric care. While existing research suggests potential benefits, especially in enhancing body awareness and emotional regulation, robust studies are necessary to establish its effectiveness in treating specific mental health conditions. This review serves as the foundation for future research into the potential role of FM in enhancing psychiatric care and emotional well-being.

Abstract Background In this study, we examined the ethical implications of Egypt’s new clinical trial law, employing the ethical framework proposed by Emanuel et al. and comparing it to various national and supranational laws. This analysis is crucial as Egypt, considered a high-growth pharmaceutical market, has become an attractive location for clinical trials, offering insights into the ethical implementation of bioethical regulations in a large population country with a robust healthcare infrastructure and predominantly treatment-naïve patients. Methods We conducted a comparative analysis of Egyptian law with regulations from Sweden and France, including the EU Clinical Trials Regulation, considering ethical human subject research criteria, and used a directed approach to qualitative content analysis to examine the laws and regulations. This study involved extensive peer scrutiny, frequent debriefing sessions, and collaboration with legal experts with relevant international legal expertise to ensure rigorous analysis and interpretation of the laws. Results On the rating of the seven different principles (social and scientific values, scientific validity, fair selection of participants, risk-benefit ratio, independent review, informed consent and respect for participants) Egypt, France, and EU regulations had comparable scores. Specific principles (Social Value, Scientific Value, and Fair selection of participants) were challenging to directly identify due to certain regulations embodying 'implicit' principles more than explicitly stated ones. Conclusion The analysis underscores Egypt's alignment with internationally recognized ethical principles, as outlined by Emanuel et al., through its comparison with French, Swedish, and EU regulations, emphasizing the critical need for Egypt to continuously refine its ethical regulations to safeguard participant protection and research integrity. Key issues identified include the necessity to clarify and standardize the concept of social value in research, alongside concerns regarding the expertise and impartiality of ethical review boards, pointing towards a broader agenda for enhancing research ethics in Egypt and beyond.

Background: Neonatal acute kidney injury (nAKI) has been reported to be common among neonates admitted to the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) and is associated with increased mortality and prolonged duration of hospital stay. However, data on this entity from sub-Saharan Africa are scanty. Objectives: This study aimed to assess the burden, risk factors, and short-term outcomes of nAKI in neonates admitted to a low-resource NICU in Zambia. Design: The design of the study is a prospective cohort study. Setting: The setting of this study was the NICU at the Women and Newborn Hospital of the University Teaching Hospitals (WNBH-UTHs). Patients: In total, 322 neonates who were admitted to the NICU between November 2021 and December 2022. Methods: A serum creatinine was determined on all patients at admission (within 24 hours), at 72 hours and day 7. The modified neonatal Kidney Disease: Improving Global Outcome (KDIGO) Criteria were used to define nAKI. Data were extracted using a predesigned form and analyzed using SPSS. A P -value less than .05 was considered statistically significant. Results: The prevalence of nAKI was 13.7% (44/322). On multivariable regression analysis, antepartum hemorrhage (adjusted odds ratio [AOR] 5.58; 95% confidence interval [CI]: [1.62-19.13], P = .007), vomiting in the neonate (AOR 5.76; 95% CI: [1.10-30.32], P = .04), history of use of unit second-line antibiotics, meropenem (AOR 4.37; 95% CI: [1.97-9.69], P

This study examines the effect of climatic shock and women empowerment on multidimensional energy poverty using panel data from Uganda National Panel Surveys from 2013/14–2019/20, complemented by the World Bank African Rainfall Climatology version 2 (ARC2) database. We find that climatic shocks increase energy poverty. However, there is great potential in energy poverty alleviation when women are more empowered in relation to men, but it is even greater when both genders are empowered in the same household amidst climatic shocks. Combating the impacts of drought, floods, landslides, and irregular rainfall while enhancing women's economic empowerment avenues should be a priority on the policy agenda for multidimensional energy poverty alleviation in Uganda.Highlights Energy poverty is assessed using a multidimensional approach. Abstract Foodborne diseases (FBDs) are a major public health concern, especially in Sub-Saharan African (SSA) countries, such as Ghana, where poor food handling practices (FHPs) are prevalent. To estimate the pooled proportion of good FHPs and the associated factors among Ghanaian food handlers, this systematic review and meta-analysis was conducted to aid scholars, practitioners and policymakers in devising FBD-preventable interventions. The scientific databases PubMed, Google Scholar, Science Direct, African Journals Online, ProQuest, and Directory of Open Access Journals were systematically searched until April 19, 2023, for relevant literature. Observational studies meeting the inclusion criteria of reported good FHPs among food handlers were included. Three authors independently searched the database, assessed the risks of bias and extracted the data from the shortlisted articles. A random-effects model with the DerSimonian and Laird model was used to estimate the pooled effect size of FHPs and the pooled odds ratio (POR) of FHP-associated factors. Out of the 2019 records collated, 33 with a total sample size of 6095 food handlers met the inclusion criteria for meta-analysis. On the occasion of the 20th anniversary of the discovery of acrylamide in food, an analysis of patents related to the mitigation of this compound in food products obtained through immersion frying was carried out. For this purpose, a comprehensive search, compilation, and information analysis were conducted using free online databases such as Google Patents, Patenscope, and Lens. The search yielded a total of 79 patents within the considered time period (2002-2022). The countries with the highest number of granted patents were the United States, the European Union, and South Korea. The patents were classified into four main approaches: raw material modification (49%), application of pre-treatments (27%), process modification (16%), and measurement techniques (8%). Among the results, Frito-Lay, an American company, stands out as the food industry company with the highest number of granted patents, totaling 15. Based on this review, it is concluded that while a significant number of patents have been granted in recent years, there is still a lag in developing countries. Furthermore, more studies are needed to determine acrylamide in starchy food matrices subjected to immersion frying different from potatoes.

Introduction Rare diseases (RDs) collectively impact over 30 million people in Europe. Most individual conditions have a low prevalence which has resulted in a lack of research and expertise in this field, especially regarding genetic newborn screening (gNBS). There is increasing recognition of the importance of incorporating patients’ needs and general public perspectives into the shared decision-making process regarding gNBS. This study is part of the Innovative Medicine Initiative project Screen4Care which aims at shortening the diagnostic journey for RDs by accelerating diagnosis for patients living with RDs through gNBS and the use of digital technologies, such as artificial intelligence and machine learning. Our objective will be to assess expecting parent’s perspectives, attitudes and preferences regarding gNBS for RDs in Italy and Germany.Methods and analysis A mixed method approach will assess perspectives, attitudes and preferences of (1) expecting parents seeking genetic consultation and (2) ‘healthy’ expecting parents from the general population in two countries (Germany and Italy). Focus groups and interviews using the nominal group technique and ranking exercises will be performed (qualitative phase). The results will inform the treatment of attributes to be assessed via a survey and a discrete choice experiment (DCE). The total recruitment sample will be 2084 participants (approximatively 1000 participants in each country for the online survey). A combination of thematic qualitative and logit-based quantitative approaches will be used to analyse the results of the study.Ethics and dissemination This study has been approved by the Erlangen University Ethics Committee (22–246_1-B), the Freiburg University Ethics Committee (23–1005 S1-AV) and clinical centres in Italy (University of FerraraCE: 357/2023/Oss/AOUFe and Hospedale Bambino Gesu: No.2997 of 2 November 2023, Prot. Bruno de Menezes (1893 – 1963) e Raul Bopp (1898 – 1984) escreveram e publicaram poesias de cunho modernista na mesma época, com temáticas como a natureza brasileira e a influência do negro na construção histórica e cultural do país. Deste modo, o presente artigo se dedica a fazer um cotejo entre as poesias contidas nos livros Urucungo (1932): Urucungo, Mãe-Preta, Diamba, Negro e Caratateua; e Batuque (1931): Pai João, Mãe Preta, Liamba, Gente da Estiva e Igreja de Arrabalde. O objetivo foi refletir sobre as semelhanças, bem como destacar as diferenças e singularidades das obras literárias. Comprovou-se que os textos possuem em comum o fato de registrar personagens da negritude em cada poema, bem como a trajetória cronológica da África antes da captura para escravização, durante o transporte feito através de navios, a vida como escravos no Brasil e a descendência que recebeu como herança manifestações culturais cheias de sincretismo. Também possuem em comum a sonoridade e musicalidade bem marcadas, o uso de palavras próprias de dialetos dos grupos tematizados. Indícios de que os dois autores realizaram pesquisas profundas sobre o universo temático escolhido.

Abstract Objectives In March 2020, France faced a health crisis due to the COVID-19 outbreak that, like previous infectious disease crises, involved high psychological and emotional stress, a series of factors that influenced the ongoing mental health crisis. Methods We recruited 384 respondents to complete an online questionnaire during the second month of isolation: 176 psychotherapy recipients (68 were currently attending psychiatric care) and 208 healthy controls. We measured demographic characteristics, impulsivity, aggression, hopelessness, suicidal risk, and the global level of anxiety and depression in order to estimate potential discrepancies in clinical measures across these populations. Results Our results indicate that the group currently undergoing psychiatric care was prone to loneliness and social isolation. Regarding clinical and nonclinical population, there were differences in suicidal risk, depression, anxiety, and hopelessness but mainly in aggression. Regression analysis also demonstrated that aggression surprisingly influenced anxiety levels. Patients undergoing therapy compared with patients who were not displayed differences only in suicidal risk, anxiety, and hopelessness, with those undergoing therapy having higher scores. The outpatient group undergoing therapy had a significantly lower level of impulsivity. Moreover, the regression to predict anxiety and depression levels from correlated factors highlighted the potentially heightened role of aggression in predicting anxiety in the clinical group. Conclusion New research into stress reactions should assess other clinical signals, such as aggression, and examine preventive mental health interventions in times of crisis.

Little is known on the ecology of the Mexican Parrotlet (Forpus cyanopygius), an endemic species of western Mexico. Here, we present the first diet report for this species based on crop contents of three individuals that died following impact with a metallic structure. The individuals presented a crop full of 3,015 to 5,400 seeds from Ficus insipida. Figs are an important resource for many vertebrate species and is a food resource reported in the diet of many psittacines. Our report highlights the importance of gathering incidental information to fill knowledge-gaps for poorly known species and enable better conservation planning.

Abstract Although the implementation of person‐centred care (PCC) has gained momentum in healthcare systems, it is not always obvious why it is an important objective in clinical settings and educational institutions that train future healthcare professionals. Various conceptions about PCC have flourished, such as that it only works in certain healthcare contexts, it is the same as the patient making all their own healthcare decisions, it is too demanding for most patients, the word ‘patient’ may no longer be used, the care provided is already person‐centred, and that there is simply not enough time and resources to achieve it. This viewpoint paper aims to problematize these conceptions and may be used for didactical and reflective exercises that support the transition towards more person‐centred healthcare. Patient or Public Contribution The Person Council for patients and carers at the University of Gothenburg provided focus group input on and validated the occurrence of the conceptions discussed in the present paper. The person council consists of a group of persons with many years of personal experiences of health care, either as patients and/or relatives/carers. One member of the person council who is also a designer and artist created the illustration for the article.

Abstract The crystal structure and ferroelectric properties of epitaxial ZrO2 films ranging from 7 to 42 nm thickness grown on La0.67Sr0.33MnO3 buffered (110)‐oriented SrTiO3 substrate are reported. By employing X‐ray diffraction, a tetragonal phase (t‐phase) at all investigated thicknesses, with slight in‐plane strain due to the substrate in the thinnest films, is confirmed. Further confirmation of the t‐phase is obtained through infrared absorption spectroscopy with synchrotron light, performed on ZrO2 membrane transferred onto a high resistive silicon substrate. Up to a thickness of 31 nm, the ZrO2 epitaxial films exhibit ferroelectric behavior, at variance with the antiferroelectric behavior reported previously for the t‐phase in polycrystalline films. However, the ferroelectricity is found here to diminish with increasing film thickness, with a polarization of 13 µC cm−2 and down to 1 µC cm−2 for 7 and 31 nm thick ZrO2 films, respectively. Given that the t‐phase is nonpolar, the observations emphasize the influence of external factors, in promoting polarization in t‐ZrO2 thin films. These findings provide new insights into the ferroelectric properties and structure of ZrO2 thin films, and open up new directions to investigate the origin of ferroelectricity in ZrO2 and to optimize this material for future applications.

O artigo trata da experiência psicológica do “Nós” desenvolvida em O Ser e o Nada (SN), e que reverbera na sociabilidade da Crítica da Razão Dialética (CRD). Problematiza-se sobre qual “Nós” se fala na condição do Ser-com. Em SN, Sartre nos mostra que o fundamento das relações humanas é o conflito, uma vez que o ser-com-o-outro é fundamentado no ser-para-outro. Reflete-se, portanto, sobre a impossibilidade das experiências psicológicas do Nós-objeto e do Nós-sujeito fundamentarem a alienação e o engajamento. Parte-se da conjuntura da coletividade serial para abordar a experiência do Nós-objeto, e a necessidade da escolha individual pelo engajamento com os outros, que pode ou não ocorrer quando acontece a experiência do Nós-sujeito. Sendo assim, quando as pessoas se reconhecem como parte de uma estrutura organizada por um terceiro e visam algo em comum, o sujeito comunitário acontece. Percebe-se que, Sartre, em SN e seus desdobramentos, nos auxilia a pensar o ser-com-outro, inclusive, em um mundo virtual do século XXI. Ao longo de sua vida e embora sem êxito, Sartre se empenhou para concretizar o Ser que idealizava às pessoas: comprometidas mutuamente na construção responsável de um campo sociomaterial “desejável para uma comunidade”, inclusive nas resoluções de conflitos.

Two decades ago, the Peruvian government introduced the National BioTrade Promotion Program to support the production and export of agricultural commodities that comply with UNCTAD’s principles and criteria for BioTrade. This article takes stock of some of the program’s achievements over the past 20 years and discusses the challenges that remain to scaling up biodiversity-friendly approaches to agriculture in Peru. We find that the rapid increase in export during the first ten years of the program, which drove the initial optimism about BioTrade’s potential for economic development and biodiversity conservation, has given way to a more cautious assessment as the second decade has seen the expansion of markets for Peruvian biodiversity-based products slow down considerably.

The supply chain is a series of operations consisting of interconnected units both within and outside the company such as suppliers, producers, and distributors, each of which holds information at a different level. These parties need to be coordinated using information sharing as a coordination mechanism. Information sharing enables them to make the right and quick decisions that can improve the performance of the supply chain. Information sharing has received a lot of attention from researchers who analyze it from different perspectives. However, no research shows the relationship between factors that drive information sharing to succeed. This study produces a model of power, trust, and information sharing.

Endodontic management of internal root resorption is challenging due to difficulty in debridement of the entire canal contents, disinfection, and control of the resorptive process. Often, there is no barrier to stop the repair material from being pushed into the periradicular tissues. In these case reports, we discuss the clinical management of internal root resorption, use of two forms of collagen used as a barrier material with mineral trioxide aggregate. – One-year follow-up of these cases reveals complete healing.

Aim: This study aimed to compare the surface roughness of two rotary nickel–titanium instrument systems before and after clinical use using atomic force microscope (AFM). Methods: Sixteen instruments of two rotary nickel–titanium systems were used in this study. Eight MTwo (VDW, Munich, Germany) instruments and eight Neoendo flex rotary files (Orikam Healthcare, India) were evaluated. New and the used rotary files of the two experimental groups were evaluated. Instruments were analyzed on a point at a 5-mm section from the tip of the instrument. Quantitative measurements according to the topographical deviations were recorded. The data were statistically analyzed with paired t-test and independent samples t-test. Results: The mean root mean square (RMS) values for new and used MTwo 25.06 files were 1.23 ± 0.176 nm and 1.58 ± 0.284 nm, respectively, and the difference between them was statistically significant (P < 0.05). The mean RMS values for new and used NeoEndo Flex Files 25.06 were 0.96 ± 0.34 nm and 1.76 ± 0.414 nm, respectively; the difference between them also was statistically significant (P < 0.05). Conclusion: According to the AFM analysis, the instruments underwent surface deterioration after clinical use and MTwo had better surface quality than NeoEndo Flex Files.

Oil palm plants can be grown on flat, wavy, and hilly land with a land slope range of 0%-30%. The oil palm plantation area of PT ABC is 14.7 thousand Ha, with the landscape dominated by hilly topography. Conservation practice of the hilly regions in PT ABC is carried out by making contour roads and terraces. At PT ABC on five blocks in Division 1, block O, L, K, M, J was making a non-standard contour road. Therefore, these conditions cause decreases in production because the harvester has difficulty carrying fruit, and finally, the fruit is left behind. To overcome it, PT ABC opens the road (harvesting path) specifically for harvesting to resolve the problem. This research aims to determine the impact of harvesting path formation on oil palm production at PT ABC. The methodology of the study is by comparing data obtained from companies and analyzed descriptively in the field. The data collected are primary data and secondary data. The results showed that harvesting path formation influences oil palm production in PT ABC by increasing output by 21%-38% or increasing by an average of 1 ton/Ha/year.

In the supply chain, inventory planning plays a crucial role in achieving a balance between supply and demand. This study aims to investigate a supply chain policy that can achieve an impressive level of responsiveness, reaching close to 100%. Additionally, by focusing on the supply chain of RON 92 gasoline in Indonesia, the research aims to identify the key factors influencing responsiveness instability. To achieve these objectives, a simulation model was used to analyze the inventory policy, considering various factors such as demand, production, safety stock coverage, transportation delays, production capacity, and importation due to insufficient production capacity. The results showed that forecasting accuracy is the main determinant of the responsiveness rate. Moreover, maintaining a minimum inventory level of 28 days yielded an impressive 99% responsiveness rate, provided that the deviation in demand does not exceed 5% of the forecast. The analytical tool used in the system dynamics framework was a simulation, which significantly contributed to the research findings. However, it is important to note that this research has limitations, specifically in its inability to analyze crude oil supply. Therefore, further research is necessary to thoroughly examine this aspect and gain a more comprehensive understanding of the overall supply chain dynamics.

Staphylococcus lugdunensis pertence à família dos estafilococos coagulase negativos (ECN); é frequentemente associado a infecção de pele e partes moles. A Endocardite Infecciosa por S. lugdunensis (EISL) apresenta-se de forma mais virulenta em relação a outros ECN, com clínica similar a EI por S.aureus. Os critérios modificados de Duke revisados em 2023 incluíram esse patógeno na lista de germes típicos. Apresentamos três casos de EISL definitiva de acordo com os critérios modificados de Duke. Caso 1. Paciente de 16 anos, com história de cirurgia de transposição dos grandes vasos, com estenose de artéria pulmonar residual. Internação com relato de febre, tremores e dor incapacitante em membro inferior direito de 10 dias de evolução. Ecocardiograma transtorácico (ETT) evidenciou valva aórtica nativa espessada e com imagem aderida (16 × 16 mm) em folheto coronariano direito. Colhidas hemoculturas na admissão que evidenciaram crescimento de S.lugdunensis em 6/6 amostras. Foi identificada embolização para a artéria renal esquerda. Foi realizada troca valvar aórtica mecânica e plastia de tronco da artéria pulmonar. Caso 2. Trata-se de uma EI tardia de válvula protética em uma paciente de 68 anos internada para controle de flutter atrial, que durante a internação apresentou febre e déficit neurológico focal, confirmando acidente vascular encefálico (AVC) hemorrágico. ETT evidenciou vegetação de 5 mm aderida a bioprótese mitral. Hemoculturas evidenciaram crescimento em 2/2 amostras de S. lugdunensis, optando-se por tratamento conservador. Caso 3. Homem de 27 anos com EI de válvulas nativas (mitral e aórtica) portador de válvula aórtica bicúspide, com quadro de febre, PCR elevada e evento embólico vascular para artéria poplítea esquerda de evolução em dias. ETT evidenciou vegetação de 12 × 15 mm em válvula aórtica. Hemoculturas foram positivas em 8/8 amostras. Dupla substituição mitroaórtica por bioprótese. Realizou trombectomia e fasciotomia do membro inferior esquerdo. Foi reoperado devido à persistência de abcesso intracardíaco, com retroca mitro-aórtica por prótese mecânica. Usou cefuroxima supressiva por vários meses por apresentar captação ao PET/CT no aneurisma micótico poplíteo. Os casos apresentados mostraram curso agressivo, com embolização. Todos foram tratados com 42 dias ou mais de antibioticoterapia e sobreviveram. É fundamental a identificação a nível de espécie de ECN isolados em hemoculturas e realizar ETT e rastreio para embolizações.

Background: ‘Regenerative endodontics’ using host-derived scaffolds and biomaterials (MTA) is popular in the management of teeth with open apex. Alkaline pH and bioactivity contribute to tissue healing and remineralization. We assessed the influence of PRF and Blood Clot on the pH and Ca+ ion release from MTA. Methods: A total of 15 single-rooted human extracted teeth were sectioned at the level of the cementoenamel junction. Based on the type of scaffolds used, samples were divided into three groups. Group 1 (MTA+ PRF), Group 2 (MTA + Blood Clot), Group 3 (control MTA). The prepared specimens were transferred to a fresh falcon tube containing 10mL of distilled water and the collected solutions were analysed for pH and Ca+ ion release at 3h, seventh day and 14th day. Results: It was observed that the mean pH and Ca+ ion release were significantly lower in the experimental groups as compared to the control group. Though there was an increase in the pH recorded in Group 1 and 2 at all time periods, the difference was not significant. Ca+ ion release peaked at Day 7 (Group3 > Group2 > Group1) and reduced significantly on the 14th day for all groups. Conclusions: Within the limitations of the study, it can be concluded that PRF and blood clot influence the pH and Ca+ ion release from MTA.

On the occasion of the 20th anniversary of the discovery of acrylamide in food, an analysis of patents related to the mitigation of this compound in food products obtained through immersion frying was carried out. For this purpose, a comprehensive search, compilation, and information analysis were conducted using free online databases such as Google Patents, Patenscope, and Lens. The search yielded a total of 79 patents within the considered time period (2002-2022). The countries with the highest number of granted patents were the United States, the European Union, and South Korea. The patents were classified into four main approaches: raw material modification (49%), application of pre-treatments (27%), process modification (16%), and measurement techniques (8%). Among the results, Frito-Lay, an American company, stands out as the food industry company with the highest number of granted patents, totaling 15. Based on this review, it is concluded that while a significant number of patents have been granted in recent years, there is still a lag in developing countries. Furthermore, more studies are needed to determine acrylamide in starchy food matrices subjected to immersion frying different from potatoes.

The objectives of this research are to know the effect of productive learning, social situation, economic situation, and creativity towards the interest in entrepreneurship for students of class XII of Clothing Vocational Schools in Yogyakarta in 2018/2019. The method in this study is a correlational method with a quantitative approach. The population of this study were students of class XII of the Clothing Vocational School in Yogyakarta City, totaling 265 students. The number of research samples is 152 students with a sampling technique of proportional random sampling. Data collection techniques were questionnaires and documentation. The results of this study show that the learning outcomes of productive, social situation, economic situation, and creativity subjects affect the interest in entrepreneurship for the SMK students in the city of Yogyakarta.

La promoción para el cumplimiento del desarrollo sustentable a nivel global fue impulsada por el principal organismo interestatal durante la segunda mitad del siglo XX, si bien anteriormente habían sido observados algunos intentos de institucionalidad estos no generaron un impacto trascendental. Durante la década de los años setenta los primeros esfuerzos estuvieron coordinados entre programas interestatales y Estados soberanos y no es sino hasta el fin de la Guerra Fría que el cambio en el panorama internacional y el nuevo paradigma global permitió a otros actores no estatales como las Organizaciones de la Sociedad Civil el involucramiento para cumplir las metas y objetivos dispuestos para alcanzar el desarrollo sustentable. Sin embargo, la participación de la sociedad civil depende de la voluntad de los gobiernos, la cual puede ser volátil y está condicionada al cambio de los escenarios políticos locales, por lo cual es imprescindible la formalidad de mecanismos institucionales que reconozcan de manera permanente la participación de la sociedad civil organizada para incidir en las políticas locales y globales del desarrollo

Male inflorescence residue of the oil palm rich in fibre and contains cellulose content and has the potential to synthesize Carboxymethyl Cellulose (CMC). Male inflorescence is considered necessary removed in the early stages of the oil palm cultivation process to develop stem size, string and robust root systems. This activity generates plentiful of oil palm male inflorescence residues in the plantation. The aim of this research is to synthesis and characterize CMC fabricated from oil palm male inflorescence (OPMI-CMC) waste for use as an ice cream stabilizer, using a variety of treatments, which are commercial CMC 0.2%, OPMI-CMC 0.1%, 0.2%, and 0.3%. The results showed that CMC can be produced from organic waste of male flowers of oil palm plants. The water content, pH, purity, and degree of substitution meet the standard. The optimal concentration of OPMI-CMC for ice cream stabilizer is 0.3% based on melting time and overrun value. The FTIR analysis shows that the main functional group of the OPMI-CMC is highly comparable. Therefore, to possibly be employed as an alternative to organic CMC for food stabilizers, other standards must be fulfilled, and further research is required.

Breast cancer is extremely rare in children and consequently no consensus has been reached on the optimal treatment modalities. We have reported the medical history of secretory breast carcinoma (SBC) in a 6-year-old girl. An areolar-sparing mastectomy was performed without axillary surgery, and without adjuvant therapy given her limited disease and the histological type. We have reviewed the literature and summarized relevant findings concerning the clinical and histological data, treatment approaches, and outcomes for 33 cases of SBC (15 children and 18 adolescents). International data suggests that local excision without axillary surgery may be a suitable therapeutic approach for children with SBC.

What helps to understand transformative learning in sustain|ability contexts? Experiences may explain how transform|ability fuels sustain|ability in transfer contexts. The adopted research design explores patterns of documented transformational learning in competency-driven and sustainability-induced opportunities. Sustain|ability results from the ability to transform by creating next practices of learning and doing/acting/performing. praxiSDG promotes transform|ability as process designed for initiating and motivating change, and by sparking off transformational potential through involving empowering, action-driven competencies. praxiSDG as a living lab activates hands-on transformational competencies by and in sustainability-related campus-community partnerships. To this, Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) provide guidance for practical experiences and didactic reflection regarding learners’ transform|ability in third-mission contexts. How does transformational service learning succeed in sustain|ability? That is at the core of the corresponding research based on qualitative, theoretically grounded portfolio analysis and principles of teaching and learning. The following conceptions – next practices of learning and doing, transformational competencies, campus-community partnerships, patterns of sustainability, and third mission – are framing the research agenda for transform|ability through sustain|ability. This sheds light on two related questions, namely, first, what patterns from experience help understanding how transformative learning can succeed in a sustainability context and, secondly, what research design can be used to investigate this.

Abstract Understanding various aspects of ferroelectricity in hafnia‐based nanomaterials is of vital importance for the development of future nonvolatile memory and logic devices. Here, the unconventional and weak electromechanical response of epitaxial La0.67Sr0.33MnO3/Hf0.5Zr0.5O2/La0.67Sr0.33MnO3 ferroelectric capacitors is investigated, via the sensitivity offered by nanobeam X‐ray diffraction experiments during application of electrical bias. It is shown that the pristine rhombohedral phase exhibits a linear piezoelectric effect with piezoelectric coefficient (|d33|) ≈ 0.5–0.8 pmV−1. It is found that the piezoelectric response is suppressed above the coercive voltage. For higher voltages, and with the onset of DC conductivity throughout the capacitor, a second‐order effect is observed. The work sheds light into the electromechanical response of rhombohedral Hf0.5Zr0.5O2 and suggests its (un)correlation with ferroelectric switching.
