- Abstract
This theoretical study, which deals with the discipline of "Neurourbanism", which has gained an important place in the literature as a new discipline in recent years, was created using qualitative data based on document analysis. The main purpose of the study is to promote and examine the working principle of this discipline, which has not yet been included in academic studies in Türkiye. In this regard, the study is significant for the evaluation of urban spaces, urban sociology, and urban health in the context of neurourbanism. As a result of this study, which focuses on urban disadvantages and urban stress and prioritizes neurourbanism as a solution proposal, it is thought that the discipline of neurourbanism will come to the fore in both national and international literature, urban planning and implementation policies due to the increase in the rate of global urbanization in the coming years. In addition, it has been concluded that it will form the basis of comprehensive studies in collaboration with different branches of science and will provide a new perspective on urban research. ANIMAL weaning , *ANIMAL welfare , *CALVES , *OXIDATIVE stress , *IMMUNE response - Abstract
In recent years, there has been a growing concern among consumers regarding animal welfare and their requirements, leading to an increased interest in exploring new approaches to calf rearing. Therefore, the aim of this study was to investigate the effects of milk feeding levels on the growth, feed intake, and blood variables of group-raised calves during the suckling period. Ten Holstein calves, 5 in each group, were used in the study when they were five years old. The calves were acclimated to an automated feeder during the initial 19 days of the experiment, and their initial LWs were recorded after weighing them again. The study concluded upon weaning the calves when they were sixty years old, with a total duration of 36 days The calves in the first group (G1) were provided with a total of 4 L/day of milk replacer, divided into 2 L servings in the morning and evening. Conversely, calves in the second group (G2) were allowed a maximum intake of 12 L/day of milk replacer, mimicking the natural sucking behaviour, with feedings in the morning (05:00-08:00), midday (10:00-13:00), and evening (16:00-20:00). Despite no significant differences in the LW, total and daily LW gains, and body measurements averages between of the groups, calves in G1 consumed more starter feed compared to those in G2 (P<0.05). There was a non-significant improvement in feed efficiency in favor of calves in G2. Additionally, significant increases were noted in serum glucose concentrations among the biochemical variables in G2 (P<0.05). Furthermore, hematological blood variables, including haemoglobin, haematocrit, and erythrocyte values, tended to increase in calves in G2. However, there was no significant effect of milk feeding levels observed on oxidative stress, antioxidative defense mechanisms and immune response. In conclusion, the results from this study suggest that the amount of milk feeding does not exert a significant effect on the growth and health of the calves during the milk-feeding period.

SOCIOECONOMIC disparities in health , *QUALITY of life , *HEALTH equity , *RELATIVE poverty , *HEALTH status indicators , *INCOME inequality - Abstract
Health is an interconnected concept with all the social, economic, and environmental aspects of sustainable development. Health inequalities caused by economic disparities are associated with income inequality, inequities in accessing social security, healthcare expenses, and various other factors. In this study, the 2004-2022 data of N-11 countries were comparatively analyzed through the indicators included in the objectives of "Health and quality life", which targets the improvement in health indicators, and "Reducing inequalities", which has indirect effects on health. Indicators such as income inequality, coverage of health services, impoverishment due to out-of-pocket health expenditures, the share of the labor force in GDP, and relative poverty were examined. In line with the data, it has been observed that to increase universal health coverage, which is the most important indicator for reducing health inequalities, the sustainability of these opportunities is as important as the income and social protection opportunities provided. Additionally, ensuring the adaptation of health systems to the changing structure of society, and being able to respond to the changing health demand without increasing the financial burden of individuals' health expenditures, are also crucial for achieving universal health coverage and ensuring health equity. Decisions to reduce health inequalities based on political stance should be integrated into institutional policies to cover all aspects of health policies and when necessary national and international collaborations should be used to take advantage of medical innovations. NINETEENTH century , *MALARIA , *RICE , *TWENTIETH century , *PUBLIC health - Abstract
Rice has been a fundamental source of sustenance for people throughout history and remains so today. Ottoman Empire placed special importance on ensuring the public's access to rice, encouraging its production. As the rice plant, from which rice is harvested, grows in water, it has been constantly associated with malaria and is considered a health risk. The Ottoman Empire not only took care to ensure a steady supply of rice but also tried to take necessary precautions for public health. This study primarily focuses on the 19th and early 20th centuries, shedding light on the Ottoman Empire's attempts to strike a balance between ensuring societal sustenance and safeguarding public health. In conclusion, this study unveiled that the cause of malaria was misconceived until the last quarter of the 19th century. Furthermore, despite periodic bans on rice cultivation, its production continued to be prioritized, and legal regulations were established in this domain over time, with the bans remaining in place even after the cause of the disease was elucidated. The fact that social media is controlled by the majority of the society every day and the widespread use of the internet in all areas of life has made it easier for people to access information. Especially for university students in their 20s, accessing online health information is becoming increasingly popular. However, the accuracy of the information accessed through electronic resources often needs to be checked. People may face various health problems when they access and apply inaccurate health information over the internet. In this study, it was aimed to determine the e-health literacy levels of students in a Vocational School and to examine them according to various variables. The data were collected between 15 February and 15 March 2024. The population of the study consists of 435 students who are actively continuing their education at Isparta University of Applied Sciences Senirkent Vocational School. This study was approved by the decision of Isparta University of Applied Sciences Scientific Research and Publication Ethics Board dated 12.02.2024 and numbered 181/02. In addition, Senirkent Vocational School Directorate gave permission for scientific study with the letter dated 15.02.2024 and numbered 87325 to apply the questionnaire to the students. The sample was not selected, and all students attending the school in the Spring term of the 2023-2024 academic year were tried to be reached. Data were collected through a questionnaire using the "Student Descriptive Information Form" and "e-Health Literacy Scale". Qualitative data were digitised and made suitable for analysis. Questionnaires that were not suitable for analysis were excluded from the study. Standard deviation, frequency-percentage, arithmetic mean, independent sample t test for comparing paired groups, ANOVA for comparing multiple groups and LSD method from Post-Hoc analyses were used in SPSS programme. Of the participants, 129 were female, 70 were male; 133 were 1st year, 66 were 2nd year students; 102 were Management of Health Institutions, 59 were Opticianry, 24 were Construction Technologies, 14 were Computer Programming students. The ehealth literacy scores of the 2nd year students were found to be significantly higher than the 1st year participants. Among the programmes in the school, it was found that the scores of the Management of Health Institutions students were significantly higher than those of Opticianry and Computer Programming students. It is recommended to raise awareness about the subject in the whole society with various trainings by including individuals with high health literacy level. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

- Abstract
It is seen that the understanding of the social state and health in Turkey has gradually given way to neoliberal dynamics in parallel with the developments in the world in the last fifty years. The health field has been reorganized with the Health Transformation Program since 2002. In this study, it is aimed to examine the physician strikes and actions at the beginning of 2022. One of the qualitative research methods, Interpretive Phenomenological Analysis was used. It is seen that they started their physician actions with the withdrawal of the legal regulation that caused the personal rights to be discussed in public from the General Assembly of the Parliament. It is commonly stated by spokespersons that the strikes are discontents caused by working conditions and spiritual reasons rather than financial reasons. As a result, the weight of working conditions created by health policies and violence come to the fore in discourses. Security and violence account for 17.4% of all coding. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

- Abstract
This research examines the relationship between objective and perceived relative incomes and health outcomes in Turkey, drawing data from the Life in Transition Survey (LITS) III. The analysis is stratified by gender, employment status, marital status, and educational attainment. Objective income consistently correlates positively with health, with the relationship being particularly strong for employed males. On the other hand, perceived relative income significantly influences health, especially among female subgroups and the unemployed. Disparities in health outcomes based on marital status, age, and education emerge: married males, individuals below 35, and those with below-median education display pronounced associations between objective income and health. The findings emphasize the multifaceted relationships between objective income, perceived economic status, and health, highlighting the need for tailored interventions for health across distinct demographic segments in transitional settings like Turkey. - Abstract
Nutrition is an essential behavior that all living things, especially humans, need to grow, develop, be healthy and productive. While other living creatures show this behavior in order to survive and continue their generation, humans, as an intelligent being, have developed a selective eating habit in order to live a healthy life. Because scientific studies have shown that the nutrients consumed directly shape the chemical structure of the brain. It is stated by scientists that the intestines have a functional potential in the body like the second brain. Foods affect behavior and cognitive functions by providing information flow in nerve cells. Studies in the field of medicine have determined that the food consumed affects not only the physical health of people, but also their mental health and personality structure. For example, it is known to everyone that sadness causes ulcer disease. The Religion of Islam, which makes provisions for all areas of life, from worship to morality, from commercial life to social order, has also given guidance on how nutrition should be. There are explanations and provisions in the verses and hadiths about nutrition culture, the effects of foods on personality, foods that are recommended and prohibited to be eaten, consumption patterns, table manners, and the positive and negative effects of foods on health. Both scientists and Islamic scholars give warnings and recommendations regarding the physiological, psychological and spiritual effects of nutrition styles. In order to receive a productive education, a person must be in good mental, physical and spiritual health. When health is impaired, working, worshiping and even having fun are not enjoyable. This situation is important in terms of both general education and religious education. One of the important conditions for having a fit mind and body is proper and halal nutrition. Eating haram and questionable foods not only causes physical harm, but also has moral harm. Diseases occur not only in the body but also in the personality and soul of a person who makes a habit of eating ways that are not suitable for his nature. According to the Quran and Sunnah, eating habits directly affect many factors in human life. It has been determined that there are strong connections between people's frequency of eating and drinking and the changes in their emotions and thoughts. The aim of this study is to determine the effects of nutrition on human character from a gastronomic perspective in the light of scientific and religious data. As a method, first of all, the general framework of the Islamic religion's perspective on the subject is given. Then, the scientific literature of psychology and medicine on this subject was examined. Finally, the relationship between food and morality, both in various narrations and in the views of some Islamic scholars, has been tried to be evaluated with scientific data. This study focuses on how nutrition styles negatively affect people's characters and educational activities. In the article, the consequences of unhealthy and non-halal nutrition in terms of religious education are discussed. The subject was limited to nutrition, and the negative effects of other haram actions were not mentioned. Document review and content analysis methods were used in the research.

This study was designed to investigate associations between transfer of passive immunity, selected illnesses (diarrhoea, pneumonia, and fatigue anorexia syndrome-FAS) and growth performance [body weight (BW) and average daily gain (ADG)] in preweaned lambs. A total of 347 lambs were blood sampled at 24±1 h of age after birth and the serum IgG concentration for each lamb was measured after colostrum intake using a commercial ELISA kit. Lambs were weighed on a scale immediately after birth (before colostrum intake) and reweighed on day 28 (end of neonatal period) and day 84 (age of weaning). Lambs ADG was calculated from 0 to 28 d of life, from 29 to 84d of life, and from 0 to 84 d of life. Growth performance (BW and ADG) of lambs with diarrhoea and FAS in the neonatal period and with pneumonia in the postneonatal period was significantly lower than that of healthy lambs of the same period (P<0.05). BW of lambs with serum IgG concentration at 24th hour after the birth (SIgGC-24)<600 mg/dL and <1000 mg/ml was significantly lower on days 28 and 84 than that of lambs with SIgGC-24 >600 mg/dL and >1000 mg/ml (P<0.001). Similarly, the ADG of lambs with SIgGC-24 <600 mg/dL and <1000 mg/ml was significantly lower on days from 0-28, 29-84 and 0-84 of age than those of lambs with SIgGC-24 >600 mg/dL and >1000 mg/ml (P<0.001). In conclusion, our findings show that low serum IgG concentration in lambs, as well as the presence of pneumonia, diarrhea and FAS, reduces growth performance in pre-weaning lambs. Objective: The aim of this study is to examine the validity and reliability of the Physiotherapy Mobile Acceptance Questionnaire (PTMAQ). Method: Structural equation modeling was used to analyze data collected by convenience sampling from a total of 421 physiotherapists actively working in health institutions in Turkey. Results: The reliability will increase when the reverse coded questions in the scale related to PEOU are revised and converted into positive statements. In addition, since the "Gait speed", "Gait Quality and balance" and "Pain/cognitive status" dimensions that make up the Likelihood of Recommending an mHealth Tool for Specific Clinical Purposes (LRMH) scale measure the same structure, it was seen that they should be collected in one dimension. In addition, it is thought that it would be appropriate to remove the ACTIV1, GAITQUAL3, BALANCE1, PAIN3 expressions, which are among the dimensions that make up the LRMH scale in the third part of the questionnaire, because they distort the factor structure, and the SPEED1, GAITQUAL1, PAIN1 expressions are expressions that measure similar situations within the same structure. Conclusions: It is predicted that a more valid and reliable measurement tool will be obtained as a result of the revisions to be made in the PTMAQ. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Objective: Adherence to drug use; it is a crucial part of patient care and clinical briefing. Non-compliance with prescribed treatment regimens is an important and common behavioral health problem for treating chronic diseases. In our study, we aimed to investigate the rate of adherence to medication use in migraine patients taking prophylactic drugs, the factors affecting it, and the reasons for decreased compliance. Methods: Eighty patients diagnosed with migraine and using prophylactic treatment for migraine were included in the study. Detailed sociodemographic and clinical histories were obtained at the first interview. The scores obtained by applying the Beck Anxiety and Depression Inventory were recorded for each patient. The patients were evaluated with weekly visits for four weeks; adherence was examined using the tablet counting method. Results: In our study, 70% of our patients who received prophylactic drugs for migraine were non-compliant with the treatment; it was observed that the three most common causes were forgetting to take medication, drug side effects, and drug expiration. It was observed that low education level, being married, diet and exercise incompatibility, and high sleep problems, depression, and anxiety symptoms affected the adherence to prophylactic drug use in a statistically significant and negative way. Conclusion: To increase the patient's compliance with the treatment regimen, all potential barriers to compliance must be considered. Measures that consider the factors under the patient's control and the interaction between patient and physician and patient-health care will have the greatest impact on improving adherence. This will lead to better clinical outcomes and decrease morbidity and health expenditures. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Infectious diseases are an important fact of human history and have always been a great threat to health. However, with the rise of social media, the flow of information and societal responses to the spread and effects of infectious diseases have also undergone a radical transformation. This new medium of communication has become an important field for investigating how infectious diseases rise in the age of social media, how societies are affected and how information is disseminated. In this study, the relationship and orientation of infectious diseases with the use of social media is examined. While discussing how social media contributes to the rapid dissemination of accurate information and raising awareness about infectious diseases, it is also discussed how misinformation and conspiracy theories spread and affect society. The study also touches on the role of health authorities, how accurate information about communicable diseases is provided, how panic situations are managed, and society's reactions on social media. In general, this study will help us understand how infectious diseases have risen in the era of social media and will also evaluate issues such as information flow, social reactions and panic formation, which are important issues in terms of public health. Although there are studies on this subject and field, the general analysis of epidemic disease periods such as COVID-19, Ebola, SARS and MERS will also be evaluated under a single title. - Abstract
Due to the harmful effects of traditional energy sources on the environment and health, the consumption of renewable energy sources has recently come to the fore on the world agenda. In order for national economies to maintain their existence, individuals must ensure their health and welfare. In this context, the priority duty of countries should be to protect public health and ensure its sustainability. There are many factors that determine a country's level of healthcare expenditures; environmental conditions are also one of them. The increase in greenhouse gas emissions resulting from the consumption of non-renewable energy sources can pose a great danger to human welfare and the environment. Environmental problems caused by greenhouse gas emissions negatively affect human health in many ways, such as affecting the nervous system, lungs, and causing respiratory diseases. In addition, environmental pollution resulting from greenhouse gas emissions increases health expenditures and causes a decrease in labor productivity. Considering these negative effects, increasing the use of wind, solar, geothermal, and other environmentally friendly energy sources, which are renewable energy sources, will contribute to environmental improvement by meeting the energy needs of countries. Recently, the increase in the resources allocated to health expenditures from the national income of countries has made the discussion of sustainability in the relevant field a current issue. In this respect, researching the factors affecting health expenditures will provide important information to policy makers. This study examines the health expenditures of renewable energy consumption in 13 EU countries (Belgium, Czech Republic, Denmark, Germany, Austria, Spain, Sweden, Italy, Portugal, Greece, Finland, France, and the Netherlands) selected considering data availability between 2000 and 2020 investigating in which direction it affects. In the study, countries with the highest consumption of renewable energy were selected. Since the sustainability of the recently increasing health expenditures is important, the variables of renewable energy consumption and economic growth were analyzed and the subject was limited. In this context, it is believed that the findings will provide important information to policy makers. The main motivation of the study is that there are limited studies on the relevant subject in the literature and panel cointegration and panel cointegration coefficient estimator tests are not used. Obtaining renewable energy consumption and health expenditure data from 2000 to 2020 constitutes the main limitation of the study. As analysis methods, Lagrange multiplier (LM) cointegration and Common Corelated Effect (CCE) cointegration estimator tests were used. Before the application of these tests, cross-sectional dependence and homogeneity were determined. Fourier LM unit root test was used in examining the unit root process. Then, cointegration test and cointegration coefficient estimators, which is the last stage of the application, were determined. According to the panel cointegration coefficient estimation results, in the general analysis conducted for 13 EU countries, the effect of renewable energy consumption on health expenditures is statistically significant at the 10% level. Accordingly, a 1% increase in renewable energy consumption decreases health expenditures by 0.197%. In country-specific studies, the effect of renewable energy consumption on health expenditures was statistically significant and negative in Denmark, Spain, Sweden, and Greece, reducing health expenditures by 0.132%, 0.111%, 1.288%, and 0.782%, respectively. The effect of GDP on health expenditures appears to be statistically significant at the 1% level. Accordingly, a 1% increase in income increases health expenses by 1.071%. In country-based analyses, the coefficients are statistically significant and positive in Germany, Austria, Belgium, Czech Republic, France, Spain, Sweden, Italy, Portugal, and Greece. These findings indicate that the increase in environmentally friendly, reusable energy consumption will have a positive impact on the environment, reduce health expenditures and contribute positively to the sustainability of health financing. In addition, it emphasizes that increases in GDP are reflected in health expenditures, thus increasing the quality of health. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
