Reports of sexual violence against young women have been increasing. Due to limited support, young women who experience sexual violence have difficulties in healing, resulting in long-term consequences for individuals and society. We used grounded theory combined with a Photovoice approach to explore young women's experience of healing from sexual violence. From interviews and Photovoice activities of 29 participants, we identified a social process of healing that included internalizing anger, cutting off connections, reaching a turning point with support, restoring connections, struggling through individual internal processes, and transforming sexual violence into a stepping stone. The process of healing from sexual violence identified in this study shows commonalities as well as cultural and age-specific aspects from experiences of sexual violence among young women. In addition, this theory presented a new perspective on healing that contrasts with the past belief that disclosure is the key to healing.

Introduction: Non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) patients with activating EGFR mutations (mEGFR) well respond to EGFR TKIs, but the majority of patients eventually acquire drug resistance, leading to treatment failure. Recently, intracellular potential autophagy in addition to primary genetic alterations implicates the acquired drug resistance to targeted drugs in various carcinomas such as melanoma, pancreas, and breast cancer. We aimed to identify autophagy flux-related signal molecules which may be closely linked to acquired resistance in mEGFR NSCLC. Methods: We constructed the TMA composed of 579 surgically resected tumor tissues from lung adenocarcinoma patients and evaluated protein expression of autophagy flux-related signal molecules including CAGE, p-Beclin1, LC3B, p-AMPK, ULK1, p62, and ATG5 using immunohistochemistry (IHC). We established H1975OSI (166-folds) and PC9ERL (3,650-folds) resistant sub cell lines through the prolonged exposure of Osimertinib and Erlotinib to H1975 (L858R/T790M) and PC9 (Del19) cells, respectively. We also explored genes that induce autophagy flux activity using mRNA seq and qRT-PCR. Results: H-score of CAGE ( 95.6±7.9, 70±5.5), p-AMPK (73.4±7.8, 32±5.6) and p-Beclin1 (44.4±16.1, 19.7±5.5), ULK1( 57.4±4.9, 41.9±4.9) were significantly higher in mEGFR, compared to those of wild type EGFR NSCLC (P Conclusion: Taken together, our results strongly support the evidence that autophagy flux-related signal molecules as well as known genetic alterations are closely connected to the acquired resistance during period of EGFR TKI treatment in mEGFR NSCLC patients. Now, we are undergoing additional RNA profiling and function study of identified novel autophagy-related genes to examine a possibility as potential target to overcome EGFR TKI resistance. Epidermal growth factor receptor tyrosine kinase inhibitor (EGFR TKI) is the standard of care as 1st-line treatment for NSCLC patients with activating EGFR mutations (exon 19 deletion or L858R mutation). However, EGFR-TKI therapy eventually leads to acquired drug resistance approximately 1-2 years from the beginning of treatment. Multiple acquired resistance mechanisms including on-target EGFR mutations, phenotype transformation, and activation of bypass signaling molecules have been identified, but over 35% still remains unknown. CAGE, a cancer/testis antigen, was originally isolated from the sera of patients with gastric cancer and is known to regulate the autophagic flux in acquired resistance to EGFR TKI in NSCLC. Herein, the expression of CAGE was found in more than 50% of NSCLC patients using immunohistochemistry (IHC). Interestingly, the expression level was increased especially for the patients acquiring resistance to EGFR-TKIs. In addition, both PC-9/ER (Erlotinib-resistance cells) and H1975/OR (Osimertinib-resistant cells) cells demonstrated increased CAGE expression and autophagic flux, when compared with their parental cells. Thus, we developed the peptide drugs targeting the DEAD box domain of CAGE. This novel peptide effectively inhibited tumor cell proliferation in EGFR-TKI resistant cell line. Moreover, in Erlotinib-resistant patient-derived xenograft (PDX) mice, the peptide drug retarded tumor growth and enhanced anti-tumor efficacy. Collectively, our data suggest that CAGE plays a crucial role in the tumor progression and acquired resistance of EGFR TKI by the modulation of autophagic flux. Furthermore, we provided evidence that the inhibition of autophagy through CAGE- derived peptide could overcome the acquired resistance to EGFR TKIs in advanced/metastatic NSCLC patients. The purpose of this study was to identify factors that influence suicidal ideation and attempts among Korean women, using longitudinal data. Data from wave 4 (n = 7227), wave 5 (n = 6892), and wave 6 (n = 6632) of the Korean Longitudinal Survey of Women and Families collected on 2012, 2014, and 2016 were subjected to Kaplan–Meier and Cox regression analysis. Number of cases for suicidal ideation was 4.7% of the total cases (n = 20,751) between wave 4 through 6; number of cases for suicidal attempts was 5.7% of the cases from suicide ideation (n = 979). The recombinant human growth hormone (GH) has been used for the treatment of growth hormone deficiency (GHD) and diverse short stature state, and its physiological and therapeutic effects are well documented. However, since the effect of GH treatment on metabolic disorders has not been well characterized, we injected GH to Western diet-fed low-density lipoprotein receptor-deficient (Ldlr−/−) mice to understand the exact effect of GH on metabolic diseases including atherosclerosis, hepatic steatosis, and obesity. Exogenous GH treatment increased plasma IGF-1 concentration and decreased body weight without affecting serum lipid profiles. GH treatment changed neither atherosclerotic lesion size nor collagen and smooth muscle cells accumulation in the lesion. GH treatment reduced macrophage accumulation in adipose tissue. Importantly, GH treatment attenuated hepatic steatosis and inflammation. The hepatic expression IL-1β mRNA were decreased by GH treatment. The mRNA and protein levels of CD36 were markedly decreased in GH treated mice without significant changes in other molecules related to lipid metabolism. Therefore, the treatment of GH treatment could attenuate hepatic steatosis and inflammation with downregulation of CD36 expression in hyperlipidemic condition.

The purpose of this paper is to analyze 1) who created and distributed fake news, 2) the distribution channels of fake news, 3) who fake news has targeted, and 4) the effects on voting and the impact of fake news on Korean politics. In South Korea, fake news was mainly created by candidates or election campaigns. The reason is that in the wake of the impeachment of President Park Guen Hye, all the political parties in Korea used fake news as a means of mobilizing supporters for each of their candidates or parties to gain an advantage in situations involving political divisions and confrontations between the pro-impeachment, progressive young generation and anti-impeachment, conservative senior generation. Voters' media usage patterns were polarized through social network services (SNS) media and television. Fake news was mostly received through these two media outlets. According to the spreading structure of fake news in Korea, the younger generation generally uses SNS posts intended for unspecified individuals, and the older generation uses closed SNS like KakaoTalk or Naver’s BAND. In the end, it is typically characteristic of the older generation to spread fake news through existing offline human networks. In the 2017 presidential election, fake news has been confirmed to have the effect of mobilizing supporters for each political party. In the presidential election, an increase in voter turnout was confirmed among those in their 20s and those in their 60s or older. Evidently, fake news influenced the election of Moon Jae-In. The influence of fake news is expected to grow further as ideological polarization and consequent political polarization continues to intensify in South Korea.

In line with the disaster management objective, “identifying the causes of recurring disasters and presenting solutions to prevent recurrence” should be supported by objective data based on the analysis of the disaster occurrence mechanism and empirical facts from a technical engineering perspective. The disaster-cause analysis uses scientific and objective methods to identify the processes in which the hazards inherent in a particular area act as causal factors. Unlike earlier approaches to disaster investigation, this study seeks to identify reasonable alternatives by analyzing the root causes and planning solutions of multi-disciplinary approaches. Further, it aims to present a methodological framework and establish standard elements for a disaster-cause analysis based on GIS and Disaster Forensics. The combined analysis results of the standard elements for a disaster-cause analysis was described as the “disaster profile” of the landslide of Mt. Umyeon in Seoul in 2011. The methodological framework and standard elements presented in this study can be utilized for scientific investigation of the causes of disasters and the establishment of an inventory of disaster-cause information in the future. This is expected to contribute toward securing objectivity and reliability in investigating the causes of a disaster.

The purpose of this study was to identify the influence of violence on depressive symptoms in women. We analyzed panel data from the Korean Longitudinal Survey of Women and Families ( n = 6,632). Exposure to sexual violence was a significant predictor of the onset of depressive symptoms. After adjusting for all covariates, other predictors included the perception of a poor or very poor health status than normal and participants in their 40s and 50s versus participants younger than 40 years. Assessing exposure to sexual violence might be beneficial for evaluating depressive symptoms in women who are newly diagnosed with depression.

The purpose of this study was to explore factors influencing age of menopause among Korean women.For this secondary analysis study, panel data for Waves 4 through 6 of the Korean Longitudinal Survey of Women were used. Women aged 40 to 60 who were menstruating at Wave 4 were included in the analysis (N = 5,437). Sociodemographic, health status, and health behavioral factors were examined to explore their influence on menopause using Kaplan-Meier analysis and Cox regression analysis.Korean women who perceived themselves to be overweight or obese, who had depressive symptoms, or who smoked or were current smokers had higher probabilities of experiencing the onset of menopause, whereas those who had educational achievement lower than high school had a lower probability of experiencing the onset menopause.Various factors influenced menopause, including sociodemographic, health status, and health behaviors. Specific tailored interventions for the management of depressive symptoms and smoking cessation could be developed to target modifying variables for Korean women, in preparation for menopause. Also, the role of perceived body weight on menopause could be further explored to identify sociocultural factors for age at menopause.

Background Many young women suffer from sexual violence, but few practice self-healing activities. Aims This study evaluated the feasibility and preliminary effects of a mobile virtual intervention, Sister, I will tell you!©, to heal young women after sexual violence in South Korea. Methods A mobile virtual intervention, Sister, I will tell you!©, was developed based on a literature review and preliminary studies. In collaboration with sexual violence survivors and experts, eight modules for reflective writing and six modules for mindfulness meditation were included in this 4-week mobile virtual intervention. Thirty-four female sexual violence survivors were randomly assigned to either experimental (n = 19) or control groups (n = 15). The experimental group practiced reflective writing and mindfulness meditation, guided by the mobile virtual intervention. The control group practiced audio-guided mindfulness meditation. Pretest, posttest, and post-4-week evaluations with standardized instruments measured perceived support, negative impact from sexual violence, and suicidal ideation. Descriptive and inferential statistics were used to analyze survey data and content analysis to analyze reflective writing. Results Among 34 enrolled participants, 26 completed the 4-week intervention and posttest evaluations; 24 completed post-4-week evaluations. Significant improvements were found among participants in the areas of perceived support, negative impact from sexual violence, and suicidal ideation. The effect size of the intervention was moderate. Four themes that emerged from reflective writings were objectifying sexual violence, healing beginning with action, confronting issues, and sharing experiences. Linking evidence to action The intervention showed potential for initiating young women's engagement in healing from sexual violence. A simple mobile audio intervention without human interaction could benefit sexual violence survivors.

Epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR) mutation testing is essential for individualized treatment using tyrosine kinase inhibitors. We evaluated two EGFR mutation tests, cobas v2 and PANAMutyper, for detection of EGFR activating mutations Ex19del, L858R, and T790M in tumor tissue and plasma from 244 non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) patients. The Kappa coefficient (95% CI) between the tests was 0.82 (0.74−0.92) in tumor samples (suggesting almost perfect agreement) and 0.69 (0.54−0.84) in plasma (suggesting substantial agreement). In plasma samples, both tests showed low to moderate sensitivity depending on disease stage but high diagnostic precision (86%−100%) in all disease stages (sensitivity: percentage of mutations in tumors that are also detected in plasma; precision: percentage of mutations in plasma which are also detected in tumors). Among the 244 patients, those previously diagnosed as T790M carriers who received osimertinib treatment showed dramatically better clinical outcomes than T790M carriers without osimertinib treatment. Taken together, our study supports interchangeable use of cobas v2 and PANAMutyper in tumor and plasma EGFR testing. Both tests have high diagnostic precision in plasma but are particularly valuable in late-stage disease. Our clinical data in T790M carriers strongly support the clinical benefits of osimertinib treatment guided by both EGFR mutation tests.

Background Emergency Department (ED) nurses often confront unexpected cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) with little information about the patients. Methods This qualitative study explored the experience of performing CPR among ED nurses. Data collection took place between May and June 2016 using an online advertisement to recruit 17 ED nurses. Each participant was interviewed for 40–90min. Interviews were recorded and transcribed verbatim. Data analysis was conducted using a conventional content-analysis method. Results Four themes emerged: Pressure from the urgency of the CPR, becoming sharp tempered in addressing personnel during CPR, keeping psychological conflicts of CPR patient care to oneself, and growing as an ED nurse through CPR. Conclusion ED nurses had anxiety about CPR, regardless of their ability to perform CPR. They also suffered psychologically afterward. ED nurses could benefit from education that promotes their competencies for CPR and support systems to alleviate their psychological distress.

본 연구는 예비유아교사가 PBL 교수학습모형을 통하여 윤리적 문제 상황이 발생했을 때 문제해결 능력을 향상 시킬 수 있도록 교직윤리 교육프로그램을 개발하고, 적용한 후 교직윤리의식 검사를 통하여 그 효과를 검증하는 데 목적이 있다. 이를 위해 교직윤리와 PBL 교수학습모형에 관한 문헌고찰, 유아교사의 교직윤리의식에 대한 중요도-수행도 분석을 통한 요구도 조사와 유아교육 전문가, 유아교사, 학부모를 대상으로 하는 심층면담을 기초로 하여 교직윤리 교육프로그램을 개발하였다. 구성된 프로그램은 예비유아교사 20명을 대상으로 주1회 2시간 총 14회기를 적용하였으며, 그 결과 본 연구에서 개발한 교직윤리 교육프로그램이 예비유아교사의 교직윤리의식 향상에 효과적인 것을 알 수 있었다. 따라서 본 연구에서 개발한 교직윤리 교육프로그램은 예비유아교사의 교직윤리의식 향상에 효과적인 것을 알 수 있었다.

본 연구는 화가 프리다 칼로와 그의 연인 디에고 리베라의 사랑이야기를 모티브로 하여 안무한 연구자의 무용창작품 에 대한 작품 분석으로 이루어졌다. 프리다 칼로에게 디에고란, 괴로움과 환희를 동시에 안겨 준 존재이다. 는 이별과 해후를 통한 두 사람의 `사랑의 소중함과 아름다움`을 재해석한 창작무용으로 총 4장, 10분 20초로 구성하였다. 에 대한 연구로 작품의 내용과 음악곡, 그리고 이미지 및 안무의도에 대해 각 장별, 또는 장면별로 분석, 서술하였다. 본 연구자는 이별과 갈등을 겪으면서도 사랑하는 연인에 대한 희망을 놓지 않았던 프리다 칼로의 강인한 의지를 작품 속에 반영하고자 하였다. 한편 학교무용교수. 학습지도에 있어 에서 나타나는 다양한 창작안무기법을 통한 학생들의 공감각 형성, 유연성, 리듬감각 형성, 정서, 창의성, 사회성 형성 등 인지적, 정의적, 심동적 영역에도 긍정적인 영향을 줄 것으로 사료된다.
