This research introduces behavioral labeling as the use of names or tags that reflect an associated activity, and it proposes that this can induce corresponding behavior. Contrary to the common intuition that descriptions of behaviors emerge as markings for popular actions (i.e., the label is a consequence of the behavior), the authors propose that a description itself might also induce the corresponding action (i.e., the label is an antecedent of the behavior). Building on linguistic relativity theory and based on five studies conducted in the lab and field, the authors show that merely attaching a fictitious name to a behavior can induce that very behavior. The authors also explore a potential explanation for this finding by showing that a behavioral label can evoke mental imagery regarding the associated behavior, which enhances the implementation of the behavior. The results contribute to marketing theory by introducing behavioral labeling and highlighting how language can shape behaviors. Marketers can use behavioral labels to promote their offerings based on the associated behaviors, while public policy makers can use behavioral labels to encourage prosocial and proenvironmental behaviors. Toddler milk is an ultra-processed beverage consisting primarily of powdered milk, caloric sweeteners, and vegetable oil. Pediatric health authorities do not support the use of toddler milk, and emerging evidence suggests that toddler-milk marketing practices may mislead consumers. However, studies have not synthesized the extent of toddler-milk marketing practices or how these practices affect parents decisions about whether to serve toddler milk. We aimed to summarize the literature about toddler milk to identify what is known about: (1) parents toddler-milk purchasing and feeding behaviors, (2) toddler-milk marketing, and (3) how marketing practices influence parents beliefs and perceptions about toddler milk. Following the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses extension for Scoping Reviews (PRISMA-ScR), we systematically searched 8 databases (PubMed, APA PsycINFO, Scopus, Cochrane Central, Embase, CINAHL, Communication & Mass Media Complete, and Business Source Premier). We identified 45 articles about toddler milk. Studies were conducted in 25 countries across 6 continents. Five types of findings emerged: (1) consumption and feeding behaviors, (2) demographic correlates of toddler-milk purchasing and consumption, (3) misperceptions and beliefs, (4) increased sales, and (5) increased marketing and responses to marketing. The included articles suggested that toddler-milk sales are growing rapidly worldwide. Findings also revealed that toddler-milk packages (eg, labels, branding) resemble infant formula packages and that toddler-milk marketing practices may indirectly advertise infant formula. Purchasing, serving, and consumption of toddler milk were higher in Black and Hispanic populations than in non-Hispanic White populations, and parents with higher educational attainment and income were more likely to offer toddler milk to their children. Findings suggest a need for policies to prevent cross-marketing of toddler milk and infant formula, reduce provision of toddler milk to infants and toddlers, and prevent caregivers from being misled about toddler-milk healthfulness.

The increasing reliance on electric vehicle (EV) charging in buildings requires balancing the load from other building systems to support the new demand. This paper uses a study case in a Near-Zero Energy Building (NZEB) educational facility located in the Brazilian Amazon to verify how much the energy efficiency (EE) measures would improve the existing ratings of the building and supply the expansion of EV demand. A comprehensive building energy load and energy performance analysis were conducted in four steps, following the mandatory Brazilian requirements for EE in public buildings, using measured data, computer modeling, and thermoenergetic analyses using OpenStudio version 1.1.0 and EnergyPlus software version 9.4.0. First, the EE retrofit measures were proposed and evaluated, targeting the air conditioning and lighting systems. Subsequently, an equation was elaborated to indicate the maximum level of energy consumption that could be increased without compromising the building's energy performance and NZEB classification. Finally, Open DSS software version 10.0.0.2 was used to simulate the increased availability of EV charging after the retrofit. With the proposed retrofit, the building improved the EE ratings by three levels, and the percentage of the NZEB rating increased by 33.28%. These measures also increased the EV charging load by 20%, maintaining the maximum EE level and the NZEB classification, although EV maximization reduced self-sufficiency by 9.78% compared to the retrofit-only scenario. The primary goal of this article is to take advantage of some recent theoretical innovations in syntactic theorizing to propose a novel characterization of some of the basic word-order types isolated by typological research. In the minimalist framework, a necessary condition for a derivation to converge is that the structure it generates should be appropriately labeled. This requirement in particular holds for the major syntactic structures displayed by the various linguistic types. It will be argued that labeling theory, combined with phase theory and the variable syntax of inflectional and discourse features, offers contrasting characterizations of these structures and, as such, provides a window on how exactly SVO, V1 and V2 grammatical systems differ: they differ precisely in the strategy that each type selects in order for neutral declarative root clauses to satisfy the labeling requirement. It will also be shown that the topic and focus structures involving phrasal movement to the periphery, although different parametric choices are made by the various grammatical systems considered here, basically conform to the same requirement. Recently, social media platforms have introduced several measures to counter misleading information. Among these measures are "state-media labels" which help users identify and evaluate the credibility of state-backed news. YouTube was the first platform to introduce labels that provide information about state-backed news channels. While previous work has examined the efficiency of information labels in controlled lab settings, few studies have examined how state-media labels affect users' perceptions of content from state-backed outlets. This article proposes new methodological and theoretical approaches to investigate the effect of state-media labels on users' engagement with content. Drawing on a content analysis of 8,071 YouTube comments posted before and after the labeling of five state-funded channels (Al Jazeera English [AJE], China Global Television Network, Russia Today [RT], TRT World, and Voice of America [VOA] News), this article analyses the effect that YouTube's labels had on users' engagement with state-backed media content. We found that the labels had no impact on the amount of likes that the videos received before and after the policy introduction, except for RT which received less likes after it was labeled. However, for RT, comments left by users were associated with 30% decrease in the likelihood of observing a critical comment following the policy implementation, and a 70% decrease in likelihood of observing a critical comment about RT as a media source. While other state-funded broadcasters, like AJE and VOA News, received fewer critical comments after YouTube introduced its policy; this relationship was associated with how political the video was, rather than the policy change. Our study contributes to the ongoing discussion on the efficacy of platform governance in relation to state-backed media, showing that audience preferences impact the effectiveness of labels. The Prescribing Information (PI) in the United States (US) and the Summary of Product Characteristics (SmPC) in the European Union (EU) are approved by the US Food & Drug Administration (FDA), and the European Medicines Agency (EMA), respectively. The inclusion of overdosage information in these documents is a regulatory requirement in both regions. This research evaluates the content of the overdosage section of US and EU labeling. The overdosage sections of labels for drugs approved in the US in three time periods were analyzed: 2000–2001, 2010–2011, and 2020–2021. EU labels for these same products were also reviewed if registered through the Centralized Procedure. Data collection and analyses were performed using a predefined questionnaire, focusing on adherence to regulatory requirements and identifying areas where additional regulatory guidance may be beneficial. The findings indicate that the content of the overdosage sections largely comply with the regulatory requirements of their respective regions. Fewer than half of the labels included information on supratherapeutic doses observed from clinical studies, risk factors for overdose or population specific data associated with overdose. Inconsistencies were noted concerning the incorporation of animal data when human data were available, in addition to the referencing of Poison Centers. The overall utility of non-specific treatment recommendations, in addition to gastric lavage is discussed. While the content of the overdosage section generally aligns with regulatory expectations, additional regulatory guidance could enhance consistency in how this section of labeling is presented and clarify expectations to improve its usefulness for health care professionals (HCPs). Machine learning (ML) algorithms were recently adapted for testing integrated circuits and detecting potential design backdoors. Such testing mechanisms mainly rely on the available training dataset and the extracted features of the Trojan circuit. In this letter, we demonstrate that this method is attackable by exploiting a structural problem of classifiers for hardware Trojan (HT) detection in gate-level netlists, called the boundary net (BN) problem. There, an adversary modifies the labels of those BNs, connecting the original logic to the Trojan circuit. We show that the proposed adversarial label-flipping attacks (ALFAs) are potentially highly toxic to the accuracy of supervised ML-based Trojan detection approaches. The experimental results indicate that an adversary needs to flip only 0.09% of all labels to achieve an accuracy drop of over 9%, demonstrating one of the most efficient ALFAs in the HT detection research domain. The growth of electric vehicles (EVs) and their integration into existing and future buildings bring new considerations for energy efficiency (EE) and balance when combined with renewable energy. However, for buildings with an energy efficiency label, such as Near Zero Energy Building (NZEB) or Positive Energy Building (PEB), the introduction of EVs may result in the declassification of the EE label due to the additional energy required for the charging infrastructure. This underscores the increasing relevance of demand-side management techniques to effectively manage and utilize energy consumption and generation in buildings. This paper evaluates the influence of electric vehicle (EV) charging on NZEB/PEB-labeled buildings of the Brazilian Building Labeling Program (PBE Edifica). Utilizing on-site surveys, computational modeling, and thermos-energetic analysis with software tools such as OpenStudio v. 1.1.0 and EnergyPlus v. 9.4.0, an energy classification was conducted in a building in the city of Belem, State of Para, Brazil. Subsequently, power flow simulations employing probabilistic models and Monte Carlo approaches were executed in the OpenDSS software v. 10.0.0.2 to examine the impact of EV integration, both with and without the implementation of demand-side management techniques. Analyses using the labeling methodology demonstrated that the building has EE level C and NZEB self-sufficiency classification. The assessment of the impact of EV integration on the building's total energy consumption in the base (current) scenario was carried out in two scenarios, with (2) and without (1) supply management. Scenario 01 generated a 69.28% increase in energy consumption, reducing the EE level to D and resulting in the loss of the NZEB class. Scenario 02 resulted in a smaller increase in energy consumption of 40.50%, and guaranteed the return of the NZEB class lost in scenario 1, but it was not enough to return the EE level to class C. The results highlight the need for immediate and comprehensive energy management strategies, as the findings show that the two scenarios present a difference of 41.55% in energy consumption. Laser food processing has the breath-taking potential to revolutionize the industry in many aspects. Among the different laser configurations, CO2 laser has received special attention due to its relative high efficiency in power generation, its high-power output and its laser beam wavelength, infrared, which is strongly absorbed by water, the main component of food materials. Over the last 50 years, different uses of CO2 laser for processing foods have been proposed so far, including cooking, broiling and browning, selective laser sintering, marking, microperforation for improving downstream mass transfer operations (e.g. infusion, diffusion, marinating, salting, drying, extraction), cutting and peeling, and microbial surface decontamination. The present work is a review of the state of the art of the use of CO2 laser for food processing that covers the main characteristics and mechanisms of this technology, as well as the most important published results regarding its applications in the agri-food sector, highlighting the main challenges to bring out its full potential in the coming years. Here, we provide an overview of the key factors to consider when using fluorescence nanoscopy (FN), including biological questions that can be addressed and aspects that might improve the reliability and effectiveness of FN experiments. We cover the main aspects related to sample preparation, including the selection of appropriate fixation, affinity-based labels, and fluorescent dyes. We discuss current limitations and possible future developments in the field that would facilitate a broader application of FN. We discuss multiplexing possibilities (allowing the simultaneous detection of multiple targets in a single experiment), live cell imaging for the study of cellular and molecular dynamic processes, and quantitative workflows. Recently, biologists have gained access to several far-field fluorescence nanoscopy (FN) technologies that allow the observation of cellular components with ~20 nm resolution. FN is revolutionizing cell biology by enabling the visualization of previously inaccessible subcellular details. While technological advances in microscopy are critical to the field, optimal sample preparation and labeling are equally important and often overlooked in FN experiments. In this review, we provide an overview of the methodological and experimental factors that must be considered when performing FN. We present key concepts related to the selection of affinity-based labels, dyes, multiplexing, live cell imaging approaches, and quantitative microscopy. The occurrence of the “structural-loss” defect during single-crystal silicon growth (SCSG) is a significant issue in semiconductor manufacturing. When structural-loss occurs, it signifies a deviation from the desired quality of single-crystal formation, leading to the need to halt the growth process. Currently, there is a lack of scholarly literature addressing the determination of an optimal stopping time to promptly halt the process upon the occurrence of the defect on-line. Our research makes a substantial contribution by addressing this gap in the SCSG process, specifically focusing on orientations <100> and <111>. The study utilizes advanced AI with YOLO-v7 and innovative approaches. These include precise annotation of crystal misorientation features through a comprehensive definition of structural-loss and novel labeling techniques, identification of optimal hyper-parameters through a robust design, and the implementation of effective stopping rule mechanisms. Significant progress has been achieved in decision-making through the implementation of the stoping time shift to terminate the SCSG process within an average of less than 3 minutes for <100> orientations (with a standard error of 0.3 minutes) and less than 5 minutes for <111> orientations (with a standard error of 0.5 minutes). The promising results indicate that the proposed approaches have the capability to substitute manual inspections, opening up possibilities for new perspectives in this particular field. This study examines school-based crime prevention tactics using a place management framework in conjunction with deterrence and labeling theoretical perspectives. We examine the effects of four different aspects of place management on student offending and explore whether and how the effects are distinctive for female versus male students. We analyze survey data from students and principals across three waves of the Rural Substance abuse and Violence Project using multilevel-binomial models. Findings reveal that several aspects of place management interacted with gender, thus differentially impacting male versus female offending. Overall, this study extends past work in providing evidence of the gendered impact of some crime prevention practices—conditional effects that are consistent with insights from both deterrence and labeling theoretical perspectives. Background: National food environment policies can contribute to the reduction of diet-related non-communicable diseases. Yet, their implementation in the Netherlands remains low. It has been hypothesized that the media can play a pivotal role in inducing spikes in policy attention, thereby shaping political action. The aim of this study was to examine the discourse on food policies in Dutch newspaper articles between 2000–2022, by analyzing arguments used by various actors. Methods: A systematic search in Nexis Uni was used to identify newspaper articles that covered national-level Dutch food environment policies published in seven Dutch national newspapers between 2000–2022. Covered policies were classified into six domains including food composition, labeling, promotion, prices, provision and retail and into the four stages of the policy cycle; policy formulation, decision-making, implementation, and evaluation. A grey literature search was used to identify food policies implemented during 2000–2022. Descriptive statistics were used to summarize coverage of policies over time, policy type and policy stage. An interpretive content analysis was performed on a random subsample of the newspaper articles to determine the actors, viewpoints and arguments of the food policies. Results: We identified 896 relevant newspaper articles. The coverage of food policies in newspapers was initially low but peaked in 2018/2021/2022. Through grey literature search we identified 6 food policies which were implemented or adjusted between 2000–2022. The majority of the newspaper articles reported on food pricing policies and were discussed in the policy formulation stage. Academics (mainly supportive) were the most and food industry (mostly opposing) the least cited actors. Supportive arguments highlighted health consequences, health inequalities and collective responsibility, whereas opposing arguments focused on unwanted governmental interference and ineffectiveness of policies. Conclusions: Dutch newspaper articles covering food policies represented a variety of actors and arguments, with individual versus collective responsibility for food choices playing a central role in the arguments. 1,2,4‐triazines are a valuable class of heterodienes that can be employed in inverse electron‐demand Diels–Alder reactions. However, their broader application in bioorthogonal chemistry is limited due to their low reactivity. This article focuses on 3‐(trifluoromethyl)‐1,2,4‐triazines, which can be efficiently prepared in a one‐pot reaction from NH‐1,2,3‐triazoles. These triazines are highly reactive in reactions with strained cyclooctenes, giving second‐order rate constants as high as 230 M−1 s−1. Despite their high reactivity, the compounds remain sufficiently stable under biologically relevant conditions. We show that some of the compounds are fluorogenic, a property of potential use in bioimaging. In addition, we demonstrate the successful application of the triazines in labeling model biomolecules. Our work shows that the reactivity of 1,2,4‐triazines can be enhanced by the 3‐CF3‐substitution, which we consider an important step toward the wider use of this promising class of reagents. One of the main public health issues that has recently been observed in a greater number of children is being overweight. The cause certainly lies in the decreasing physical activity of children, but mostly in their eating habits. Soft drinks are recognized as the most significant contributor to body overweight due to high sugar content; thus, as a result of numerous campaigns, part of the sugar is replaced by artificial sweeteners (ASs). Despite their advantage due to their low caloric value, WHO recommends that they should not be used to achieve weight control or as prevention for reducing the risk of non-communicable diseases, as there is no evidence of their effectiveness. Apart from beverages, artificial sweetener combinations are also added to a variety of "low fat" and "high protein" food products, which are highly favored especially among the young population. Therefore, it is necessary to take care of the cumulative intake. The conducted study included a survey of 323 parents of children aged 1–14 years, as well as an analysis of the AS content in the products most often consumed by the respondents. The results of the survey show that a large part of children (40%) aged 3–14 often consume soft drinks. Different products (soft drinks, juices/nectars, syrups) were sampled based on the respondents' responses, and an analysis showed that 54% of them contained one or more ASs. In addition, the survey indicated parents' lack of information about the presence of AS in products, as 51% of parents declared that they do not read the declarations of the products they buy. Montelukast, a leukotriene receptor antagonist with a high affinity and selectivity for the cysteinyl leukotriene receptor type-1, was radiolabeled with 99mTc using a direct tagging procedure. The processing parameters—amounts of both montelukast and reducing agent, pH of the reaction mixture, reaction temperature, time of reaction, and in vitro stability of the 99mTc-montelukast complex—were thoroughly investigated. The 99mTc-montelukast complex had a percent radiolabeling yield of 92 ± 0.23 and an in vitro stability of 6 hours. According to biological distribution studies, the maximum uptake of 99mTc-montelukast complex for the lungs was 35.89 ± 1.03 % injected activity/gm tissue at 15 minutes following injection and remained high in the lungs for another hour (15.88 ± 0.39%), whereas the washout of mice organs appeared to primarily occur via the urinary tract. Because the 99mTc-montelukast complex is not a blood product, it is safer. To summarize, the 99mTc-montelukast complex is a new radiopharmaceutical that might be utilized for perfusion imaging of the lungs that is both safer and more useful. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Radiolabeled peptides are valuable tools for diagnosis or therapies; they are often radiofluorinated using an indirect approach based on an F-18 prosthetic group. Herein, we are reporting our results on the F-18 radiolabeling of three peptides using two different methods based on click reactions. The first one used the well-known CuAAC reaction, and the second one is based on our recently reported hetero-Diels-Alder (HDA) using a dithioesters (thia-Diels-Alder) reaction. Both methods have been automated, and the 18F-peptides were obtained in similar yields and synthesis time (37-39% decay corrected yields by both methods in 120-140 min). However, to obtain similar yields, the CuAAC needs a large amount of copper along with many additives, while the HDA is a catalyst and metal-free reaction necessitating only an appropriate ratio of water/ethanol. The HDA can therefore be considered as a minimalist method offering easy access to fluorine-18 labeled peptides and making it a valuable additional tool for the indirect and site-specific labeling of peptides or biomolecules. This article investigates whether sustainability labels for mutual funds in Europe provide consistent signals regarding funds' sustainable characteristics. Specifically, we assess the alignment of signals conveyed by third-party and self-declared labels. Among the first typology, we consider labels sponsored by government and nonprofit organizations (GNPOs) alongside Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) ratings from commercial data vendors. The latter category includes the Sustainable Finance Disclosure Regulation (SFDR) classification and an ESG-related name. Our findings indicate that equity funds with GNPO labels are more likely to exhibit top-tier ESG ratings and alignment with self-declared sustainability signals, namely Article 9 of SFDR and fund names. Furthermore, holding government and multiple GNPO labels is linked to other signals indicating higher sustainability standards. In addition, funds tend to experience an improvement in Morningstar globes after receiving a GNPO label, consistent with GNPO labels signaling funds of the high-quality type. The results regarding label alignment in fixed-income funds are less conclusive. A growing literature on sequential framing effects has documented a negativity bias: In many contexts, attitudes change less when framing switches from negative-to-positive (vs. positive-to-negative). However, it is unclear whether this negativity bias sticks to one attitude object or generalizes beyond it. Novel paradigms in two experiments yielded strong evidence for the first possibility and tentative evidence for the second: Switching to a different object (vs. same object) across time points reduced the negativity bias in reframing. In contrast, superficially rebranding an object (just changing its name) did not reduce negativity bias. The experiments also provide the first evidence that positive frames are somewhat sticky: A positive initial frame somewhat attenuated the impact of a negative subsequent frame on attitudes. The findings are consistent with the possibility that once an object is framed negatively or positively, that conceptualization sticks in the mind and resists subsequent reframing—especially for negative frames.

ABSTRACTLabels are influential signals in the marketplace intended to inform and to eliminate buyer confusion. Despite this, food labels continue to be the subject of debate. None more so than non-GMO (genetically modified organisms) labels. This manuscript provides a timeline of the evolution of GMO labels beginning with the early history of the anti-GMO movement to the current National Bioengineered Food Disclosure Standard in the United States. Using media and market intelligence data collected through Buzzsumo™ and Mintel™, public discourse of GMOs is analyzed in relation to sociopolitical events and the number of new food products with anti-GMO labels, respectively. Policy document and publication data is collected with Overton™ to illustrate the policy landscape for the GMO topic and how it has changed over time. Analysis of the collective data illustrates that while social media and policy engagement around the topic of GMOs has diminished over time, the number of new products with a GMO-free designation continues to grow. While discourse peaked at one point, and has since declined, our results suggest that the legacy of an anti-GMO narrative remains firmly embedded in the social psyche, evidenced by the continuing rise of products with GMO-free designation. Campaigns for GMO food labels to satisfy consumers’ right to know were successful and the perceived need for this information now appears to be self-sustaining.

Small‐molecule reactions at the 2′‐OH groups of RNA enable useful applications for transcriptome technology and biology. To date, all reactions have involved carbonyl acylation and mechanistically related sulfonylation, limiting the types of modifications and properties that can be achieved. Here we report that electron‐deficient heteroaryl species selectively react with 2′‐OH groups of RNA in water via SNAr chemistry. In particular, trialkyl‐ammonium (TAA)‐activated aromatic heterocycles, prepared in one step from aryl chloride precursors, give high conversions to aryl ether adducts with RNAs in aqueous buffer in ~2–3 h. Remarkably, a TAA triazine previously used only for reaction with carboxylic acids, shows unprecedented selectivity for RNA over water, reacting rapidly with 2′‐OH groups while exhibiting a half‐life in water of >10 days. We further show that a triazine aryl species can be used as a probe at trace‐level yields to map RNA structure in vitro. Finally, we prepare a number of functionalized trialkylammonium triazine reagents and show that they can be used to covalently label RNA efficiently for use in vitro and in living cells. This direct arylation chemistry offers a simple and distinct structural scaffold for post‐synthetic RNA modification, with potential utility in multiple applications in transcriptome research. We consider an abstract concept of perimeter measure space as a very general framework in which one can properly consider two of the most well-studied variational models in image processing: the Rudin–Osher–Fatemi model for image denoising (ROF) and the Mumford–Shah model for image segmentation (MS). We show the linkage between the ROF model and the two phases piecewise constant case of MS in perimeter measure spaces. We show applications of our results to nonlocal image segmentation, via discrete weighted graphs, and to multiclass classification on high dimensional spaces. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

This paper employs a 4 × 2 × 3 research design with four different antecedents of meat alternative consumption (red meat consumption, consumers' health consciousness, environmental awareness, animal welfare), two types of meat alternatives (plant-based vs. vegetarian), and three consumer behavioral outcomes (purchase intention, willingness to substitute, and willingness to pay). Our study of 425 participants shows that all four antecedents affect consumers' meat alternative perceptions. Red meat consumption has a negative effect, while health consciousness, environmental awareness, and animal welfare have a positive relationship, increasing meat alternative purchase intention, willingness to substitute, and willingness to pay. Interestingly, plant-based alternatives had higher purchase intention, willingness to substitute, and willingness to pay relative to vegetarian alternatives. Our results estimate that plant-based alternatives are substituted for up to 50% of red meat consumption, compared to 35% for vegetarian alternatives. Labeling of gifted pupils can negatively affect the life path of gifted individuals. The study explores whether and how a teacher can label gifted pupils when applying educational strategies based on internal differentiation. We focused on formally identified intellectually gifted pupils (age 7–12) educated in (mainstream) elementary schools in the Czech Republic (Central Europe). Qualitative data were collected through classroom observations and teacher interviews. We observed 24 gifted pupils and 15 teachers from 12 schools. We identified five main types of educational strategies leading to inappropriate labeling, such as Tasks for Quick‐witted, Challenges, Boffins Goes to Competition, Teacher's Assistant, and Individual Projects. The "inappropriateness" of these strategies consisted of the significant preference and presentation of gifted pupils, in the useless and overused selection of gifted pupils, and the rigidity of the applied strategies. The paper seeks to highlight the existence of a paradoxical phenomenon whereby, when teachers are maximally interested in promoting giftedness, the stagnation of gifted pupils and other pupils in the class occurs. 3D point cloud applications have become increasingly prevalent in diverse domains, showcasing their efficacy in various software systems. However, testing such applications presents unique challenges due to the high-dimensional nature of 3D point cloud data and the vast number of possible test cases. Test input prioritization has emerged as a promising approach to enhance testing efficiency by prioritizing potentially misclassified test cases during the early stages of the testing process. Consequently, this enables the early labeling of critical inputs, leading to a reduction in the overall labeling cost. However, applying existing prioritization methods to 3D point cloud data is constrained by several factors: (1) inadequate consideration of crucial spatial information, and (2) susceptibility to noises inherent in 3D point cloud data. In this article, we propose PCPrior, the first test prioritization approach specifically designed for 3D point cloud test cases. The fundamental concept behind PCPrior is that test inputs closer to the decision boundary of the model are more likely to be predicted incorrectly. To capture the spatial relationship between a point cloud test and the decision boundary, we propose transforming each test (a point cloud) into a low-dimensional feature vector, toward indirectly revealing the underlying proximity between a test and the decision boundary. To achieve this, we carefully design a group of feature generation strategies, and for each test input, we generate four distinct types of features, namely spatial features, mutation features, prediction features, and uncertainty features. Through a concatenation of the four feature types, PCPrior assembles a final feature vector for each test. Subsequently, a ranking model is employed to estimate the probability of misclassification for each test based on its feature vector. Finally, PCPrior ranks all tests based on their misclassification probabilities. We conducted an extensive study based on 165 subjects to evaluate the performance of PCPrior, encompassing both natural and noisy datasets. The results demonstrate that PCPrior outperforms all of the compared test prioritization approaches, with an average improvement of 10.99% to 66.94% on natural datasets and 16.62% to 53% on noisy datasets. This article discusses how labeling as a transframing device alters an audience's experience of a political conflict. Drawing on socio-narrative theory to translation, 150 Arabic original posts from the official Palestinian Authority (PA) Facebook page and their English translations by the Israeli watchdog group Palestinian Media Watch (PMW) are analyzed. The results reveal that PMW's labeling system both rejects and corrects Palestinian "inaccurate narratives," emphasizing Israel's territorial sovereignty and its narrative of victimization and of its historical and religious right to exist. More importantly, it produces a hybrid/double-voiced narrative that aims at "exposing" Palestinian "radical voices" and influencing how the world perceives and responds to them (e.g., by condemning or cutting off funding to PA). In this hybrid narrative, the Palestinian voice is often depicted as violent, deviant, and false, while the Israeli as victimized, normal, and right. The combination of voices may sacrifice textual elements like comprehensibility, readability, and fluency, but it seems that PMW prioritizes political legitimacy and security over any translation or reading measures. Labeling information and its presentation are intended to guide consumers at a store toward a choice of food that is healthier than they might otherwise buy. Consumer reactions to labeling are examined in this study through the Nutri‐Score (food) label, the efficacy and utility of which is still under debate. The aim is to analyze the degree of approval of Nutri‐Score through the Technology Acceptance Model, applying structural equation modeling to data gathered from a questionnaire administered to a sample of 478 Spanish consumers. All the hypotheses of the theoretical model were validated. The results of the proposed Nutri‐Score Acceptance Model affirmed that perceived usefulness is a direct predictor of consumer attitude and purchasing behavior, when consumers are evaluating the contents of the Nutri‐Score label. In turn, perceived ease of use had an indirect influence on the two previous variables. In this study, it is confirmed that Nutri‐Score is an effective system for guiding consumer purchase decisions on packaged food. Xanthomicrol (4′,5-dihydroxy-6,7,8-trimethoxyflavone) is the main active component of Dracocephalum kotschyi Boiss leaf extract. It has showed selective cytotoxic activity against some cancer cell lines and little effect on human fetal foreskin fibroblast cells used as nonmalignant control. This study aimed to develop 99mTc-labeled xanthomicrol and to evaluate its efficiency as a new tumor imaging agent. l,l-Ethylene dicysteine (EC) chelator was conjugated to xanthomicrol. EC-Xanthomicrol was labeled with technetium-99m by using tin chloride as a reducing agent and incubating at room temperature. Radiochemical purity and in vitro stability were analyzed by thin layer chromatography and high-performance liquid chromatography. In vitro cellular uptake and binding profile of radio-conjugate was determined on C6 glioma cells. In vivo bioevaluation and imaging studies of [99mTc]Tc-EC-Xanthomicrol were performed in C6 glioma tumor induced rat at different time points after injection of radio-conjugate. The high radiochemical yield (>95 %) was achieved for [99mTc]Tc-EC-Xanthomicrol which was stable up to 6 h. The radio-conjugate indicated high cell uptake (35.12 % at 2 h) which demonstrated to be specific. Tumor uptake was seen for [99mTc]Tc-EC-Xanthomicrol (1.23 ± 0.14 %ID/g) at 1 h post injection. Scintigraphy confirmed that tumors could be visualized clearly with [99mTc]Tc-EC-Xanthomicrol. The results indicated that [99mTc]Tc-EC-Xanthomicrol has potential to be considered as a new radiotracer in glioma tumor imaging. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Labeling is required by the interpretive system. When a head merges with a phrase, the head provides the label. However, lexical heads and T with poor inflectional features are too weak to be labels. Although insightful, this theory leaves at least one problem that needs prompt solutions: are there other kinds of weak heads? In this paper, we address this issue by proposing that phonological features play a crucial role in the labeling algorithm and by putting forward an additional version of weak heads. That is, a head that loses phonological features in the syntax is also weak. This approach to weak heads, together with the constraint that a structure must be labeled for interpretation, can capture the distribution of empty categories in topicalization, relativization, ellipsis, and other phenomena, some of which have not received enough scholarly attention. Transmission electron microscopy (TEM) has been essential to study virus–cell interactions. The architecture of viral replication factories, the principles of virus assembly and the components of virus egress pathways are known thanks to the contribution of TEM methods. Specially, when studying viruses in cells, methodologies for labeling proteins and other macromolecules are important tools to correlate morphology with function. In this review, we present the most widely used labeling method for TEM, immunogold, together with a lesser known technique, metal‐tagging transmission electron microscopy (METTEM) and how they can contribute to study viral infections. Immunogold uses the power of antibodies and electron dense, colloidal gold particles while METTEM uses metallothionein (MT), a metal‐binding protein as a clonable tag. MT molecules build gold nano‐clusters inside cells when these are incubated with gold salts. We describe the necessary controls to confirm that signals are specific, the advantages and limitations of both methods, and show some examples of immunogold and METTEM of cells infected with viruses. Magnetoencephalography (MEG) is a noninvasive neuroimaging technique widely recognized for epilepsy and tumor mapping. MEG clinical reporting requires a multidisciplinary team, including expert input regarding each dipole's anatomic localization. Here, we introduce a novel tool, the "Magnetoencephalography Atlas Viewer" (MAV), which streamlines this anatomical analysis. The MAV normalizes the patient's Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) to the Montreal Neurological Institute (MNI) space, reverse-normalizes MNI atlases to the native MRI, identifies MEG dipole files, and matches dipoles' coordinates to their spatial location in atlas files. It offers a user-friendly and interactive graphical user interface (GUI) for displaying individual dipoles, groups, coordinates, anatomical labels, and a tri-planar MRI view of the patient with dipole overlays. It evaluated over 273 dipoles obtained in clinical epilepsy subjects. Consensus-based ground truth was established by three neuroradiologists, with a minimum agreement threshold of two. The concordance between the ground truth and MAV labeling ranged from 79% to 84%, depending on the normalization method. Higher concordance rates were observed in subjects with minimal or no structural abnormalities on the MRI, ranging from 80% to 90%. The MAV provides a straightforward MEG dipole anatomic localization method, allowing a nonspecialist to prepopulate a report, thereby facilitating and reducing the time of clinical reporting. The nomenclature of a subject matter represents the inherent characteristics and attributes of an item. In the context of the food sector, there exists a strong correlation between the name and commercial impact of a particular product. The choice of the name of a product names is significant for purposes of branding and marketing. Nevertheless, some parties combine illegal and permissible elements in the process of choosing product names, such as “hotdog”, “beer”, and others. The combination of brand names for halal products has become a subject of contention among Muslim scholars and customers, due to the ambiguity surrounding their halal status. This study examines the legal and Islamic implications of associating a halal product with a name that imputes prohibited elements from the perspective of the evidences found in al-Quran and hadith and the country's halal regulatory framework and the Shariah as a whole. Library research and content analysis are employed as methodologies to obtain relevant information on the subject matter of this research. The results of this study indicate that the definition of halal, as outlined in the halal legislation of this country is limited and is only restricted to food ingredients, products and services. Further, there exists a loophole in the powers conferred upon the relevant agencies to ascertain the suitability of the nomenclature to be in accordance with the principles of the Shariah, thereby ensuring adherence to the concept of halalan tayyiban in its entirety for each halal product. Affective brain-computer interface based on electroencephalography (EEG) is an important branch in the field of affective computing. However, the individual differences in EEG emotional data and the noisy labeling problem in the subjective feedback seriously limit the effectiveness and generalizability of existing models. To tackle these two critical issues, we propose a novel transfer learning framework with Prototypical Representation based Pairwise Learning (PR-PL). The discriminative and generalized EEG features are learned for emotion revealing across individuals and the emotion recognition task is formulated as pairwise learning for improving the model tolerance to the noisy labels. More specifically, a prototypical learning is developed to encode the inherent emotion-related semantic structure of EEG data and align the individuals’ EEG features to a shared common feature space under consideration of the feature separability of both source and target domains. Based on the aligned feature representations, pairwise learning with an adaptive pseudo labeling method is introduced to encode the proximity relationships among samples and alleviate the label noises effect on modeling. Extensive results on two benchmark databases (SEED and SEED-IV) under four different cross-validation evaluation protocols validate the model reliability and stability across subjects and sessions. Compared to the literature, the average enhancement of emotion recognition across four different evaluation protocols is 2.04% (SEED) and 2.58% (SEED-IV). [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Although laughter is known to be a multimodal signal, it is primarily annotated from audio. It is unclear how laughter labels may differ when annotated from modalities like video, which capture body movements and are relevant in in-the-wild studies. In this work we ask whether annotations of laughter are congruent across modalities, and compare the effect that labeling modality has on machine learning model performance. We compare annotations and models for laughter detection, intensity estimation, and segmentation, using a challenging in-the-wild conversational dataset with a variety of camera angles, noise conditions and voices. Our study with 48 annotators revealed evidence for incongruity in the perception of laughter and its intensity between modalities, mainly due to lower recall in the video condition. Our machine learning experiments compared the performance of modern unimodal and multi-modal models for different combinations of input modalities, training, and testing label modalities. In addition to the same input modalities rated by annotators (audio and video), we trained models with body acceleration inputs, robust to cross-contamination, occlusion and perspective differences. Our results show that performance of models with body movement inputs does not suffer when trained with video-acquired labels, despite their lower inter-rater agreement. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Purpose: How victims of violence against women (VAW) label their experiences and selves can be important for help-seeking, but descriptive research on the prevalence of experience- and self-labels among VAW victims is limited. This study sought to fill some of the gaps in this quantitative literature using new measurement tools. Method: The current study used quantitative survey data from a weighted sample of 1694 community-based women in Alaska who had experienced VAW (determined using behaviorally specific items) to measure the prevalence of a variety of labels these victims could apply to their experiences and selves. Results: Generally, victims of specific forms of violence had minimal agreement on the terms they used to label their experiences. The most commonly endorsed label was 28.5% of those who had experienced alcohol or drug involved sexual assault applying the label rape to their experiences. Across all victims, the most commonly endorsed self-label was survivor, with one-quarter to one-third endorsing this label, depending on the subsample. Roughly one-tenth used the self-label victim across all subsamples. Conclusion: VAW service providers should consider labels used to promote services and how to increase awareness about which behaviors constitute VAW; policymakers should improve the accessibility of healthcare so that labeling oneself or one's experiences in a certain way is not a prerequisite of help-seeking; and researchers should continue exploring how to measure experience- and self-labels with minimal priming of participants and greater specificity to the actual experiences with violence. To assess the risk of food allergies in foods processed under the Japanese food labeling system, estimating exposure to hidden allergens is necessary. We assessed exposure to egg protein in foods processed according to the Japanese food labeling system. First, we estimated the concentration distribution of egg protein by Bayesian methods using data from the literature and the measurement of food products with precautional declarations in the labeling margin. We then estimated the food-intake portion-size distribution under two scenarios: soft drink consumption as an example of single, high-intake consumption, and confections, which are frequently consumed by children, as a realistic example of low-intake consumption. Finally, we estimated the distribution of unexpected intake of egg proteins in the form of single consumption. The mean exposure to egg protein under the high-intake scenario was estimated to be 0.0164 mg for 1–15-year-olds, 0.0171 mg for 4–15-year-olds, 0.0181 mg for 7–15-year-olds, and ≥0.0188 mg for 16-year-olds. The mean exposure to egg protein under the low-intake scenario was estimated to be 0.0018 mg for 1–15-year-olds, 0.0019 mg for 4–15-year-olds, 0.0020 mg for 7–15-year-olds, and ≥0.0022 mg for 16-year-olds. Compared to the reference dose of 2.0 mg proposed by the Joint the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO)/World Health Organization (WHO) Expert Committee, the risk of onset of food allergies due to egg protein contamination from foods without egg labeling is considered to be extremely low under the current Japanese food labeling system.
