This study aims to produce SnNPs (tin/Sn nanoparticles) with the PLA (pulse laser ablation) method. SnNPs were successfully synthesized using a low power (1064 nm, 7ns, 10 Hz) neodymium yttrium aluminum garnet (Nd: YAG) laser. In this study, a pulse laser beam was focused on a high-purity (99.95%) tin plate surface, which is placed into pure liquid distilled water to produce colloidal SnNPs. Colloidal SnNPs were successfully produced with a brownish color. The spherical nanoparticles were shown in the SEM morphology. The mean diameter of SnNPs size is 62.83 nm, and the maximum absorbance is centered on the maximum wavelength at 200 nm. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

This study aims to synthesize and characterize the colloidal silver nanoparticles (SNPs) in polyvinylpyrolidone (PVP) liquid with high purity by using the pulsed laser ablation (PLA) procedure. Silver plate, which was placed into PVP liquid inside a cuvette, was shot by a laser beam to produce SNPs colloid. PVP is used as a polymer medium that is expected to make SNPs smaller, stable, and not easily agglomerated. After 150 minutes of laser stroke, colloidal SNPs were successfully produced indicated by discoloration as golden yellow. To know other characterizations, we used a Transmission Electron Microscope (TEM) method and Ultraviolet-Visible (UV-Vis) spectrophotometer method. The TEM image of SNPs marked that these nanoparticles had a spherical shape. The average diameter of the SNPs was 17 nm. In this report, it has been shown that the combination of gold solution and vegetable oil resulted in strengthening in the change of natural polarization, or so-called optical activity. Some vegetable oils and a low concentration of gold solution had been used in this experiment. The individual change of polarization in gold solution and vegetable oils was firstly measured separately. And finally, the sample's combination of gold and oil was combined (unmixed) to obtain the sum of the change in polarization. The results show that the sum of the change in polarization is not a linear combination of its polarization of the sample, but rather is an amplification of final polarization without any loss of nature characteristic of the oil. This simple experimental method of polarization provides a potential tool to identify types of cooking oils and has a prospect of a study as trace detection as well for other relevant samples. This paper reports that linear polarized light through a combination of silver colloidal solution and vegetable oil gives rise to enhancement in the change of light polarization. This experiment used some vegetable oils and a low concentration of silver solution up to 3.8 ppm. The optical activity of samples was characterized by the change of polarization using a simple pair of polarizers, 532 nm (green) and 632 nm (red) of pointer lasers. The enhancement was determined through the ratio of the change in polarization from a combination of silver solution and vegetable oil to the individual value of change of polarization from vegetable oil. The results show that the final change in polarization of the sample combination is not a linear summation of its polarization of the samples, but rather is a nonlinear enhancement of final polarization. The appearances of natural polarization of oil in the silver + oil combination have also remained. This simple polarization method at least has two advantages for further study, i.e. a potential method for investigation of the various condition of cooking oils and also a new perspective study for interaction between light with nanoparticle solution and relevant samples. The use of disinfectants containing alcohol is rarely used in some places of worship because of doubtful halalness. For this reason, this research is an alternative active ingredient for making disinfectants that are friendly and halal for all people. In this study, copper nanoparticles (CuNPs) in chitosan solution medium were successfully synthesized using pulse laser ablation method which was then used as an active ingredient for making disinfectants. The synthesis was carried out using a low-power Neodymium Yttrium Alumunium Garnet (Nd:YAG) laser with a wavelength of 1064 nm, energy of 45 mJ, pulse width of 7 ns, and a frequency of 10 Hz for 5 hours with a medium concentration of 0.2% which produced colored colloidal CuNPs. greenish. CuNPs characterization was carried out using UV-Vis, FTIR, XRD, and TEM tests. The UV-Vis test resulted in an absorbance value of 3,107 a.u. The TEM test results showed that the CuNPs produced were spherical with an average diameter of 18.67408 nm. FTIR test needs to be done to identify CuNPs compounds. The results of the FTIR test analysis obtained an absorption peak of 3441.76 cm-1 which indicated the presence of an O-H group and 1638.09 cm−1 indicated the presence of an N-H group. XRD analysis showed that CuNPs had an semi-cristalline structure. Antibacterial activity test was carried out by disc diffusion method. Tests were carried out on Escherichia coli. Antibacterial activity test was carried out by measuring the diameter of the inhibition zone or the Diameter Of Inhibition Zone (DIZ), a positive control medium using alcohol as a comparison which is known to have an antibacterial effect. DIZ shows the magnitude of the susceptibility of microorganisms. Based on data from the United Nations International Strategy for Disaster Reduction (UNISDR), Indonesia is in the sixth position of the most flood-prone country compared to 162 other countries with physical and economic losses estimated at more than IDR 429 trillion in 2015. To minimize losses, it is necessary to develop technology to coat the surface of objects from water as well as self-cleaning materials, namely superhydrophobic materials. The purpose of this study is to find an alternative solution that has the opportunity to become superhydrophobic materials so it can help the community reduce losses due to flooding. The method used in this study is the Systematic Literature Review (SLR) method, to identify, review, evaluate, and interpret all available research with topics of interest to phenomena, with certain relevant research questions. One material that has the potential to become a superhydrophobic material is nano-silica. Nano-silica material can be used as a superhydrophobic material which will produce a superhydrophobic surface due to the lotus effect and photocatalyst effect, producing a water contact angle up to 169.76°. Silica can be obtained from burning rice husks to produce ash with the most content contained in rice husk ash is SiO2, which is 86.90% to 97.30% of the total weight. The technique used to coat household furniture is a spray coating technique that uses a pressurized gas stream that pushes the coating material (feedstock) onto the substrate surface. These particles will hit the substrate and then stick and form a suitable thin surface. It is hoped that this exact study will be able to become an innovation in the use of rice husks to obtain silica in Indonesia. Research on the modification of electrooptic instruments has been carried out. This study aims to design a digital-based automatic polarization angle measurement system that can be applied to determine the quality of cooking oil. The optical properties used as indicators to determine the quality of cooking oil using the polarization angle are relatively small, so a tool that can measure accurately is needed. A digital analyzer has been used with manual intensity determination, so that parallax errors can occur. In this research, an automatic polarizer will be made to determine the quality of cooking oil. The tool uses a light sensor as a minimum intensity detector and a stepper motor as an actuator which is connected to an analyzer using gears and uses Arduino due as a controller and data processor. The test results show that measurements have an accuracy of 0.033% in the malus law test. In the application of a tool to determine the quality of cooking oil, the results show that the change in the polarization angle for expired cooking oil is greater than the polarization angle for unexpired cooking oil.
