An optical active amplification on sample combination of gold solution and vegetable oil using light polarization.

Abstract

In this report, it has been shown that the combination of gold solution and vegetable oil resulted in strengthening in the change of natural polarization, or so-called optical activity. Some vegetable oils and a low concentration of gold solution had been used in this experiment. The individual change of polarization in gold solution and vegetable oils was firstly measured separately. And finally, the sample's combination of gold and oil was combined (unmixed) to obtain the sum of the change in polarization. The results show that the sum of the change in polarization is not a linear combination of its polarization of the sample, but rather is an amplification of final polarization without any loss of nature characteristic of the oil. This simple experimental method of polarization provides a potential tool to identify types of cooking oils and has a prospect of a study as trace detection as well for other relevant samples.
