A Atenção Primária à Saúde é a porta de entrada da comunidade para os serviços básicos de promoção, prevenção e assistência em saúde física e psicossocial. Visa oferecer cuidados de modo integral, participativo e dinâmico, de acordo com contexto do território e comunidade abrangida pela Unidade Básica de Saúde (UBS). Em decorrência da instauração da pandemia provocada pela COVID-19, fez-se necessário o isolamento social e a interrupção de trabalhos coletivos comumente oferecidos pela UBS III do Bairro São José no Município de Santa Luzia. Desse modo, o presente artigo, do tipo relato de experiência, objetivou documentar a experiência da equipe multiprofissional de residência com o projeto Saúde Já! Santa Luzia. Trata-se de uma alternativa desenvolvida a partir das Tecnologias da Informação e Comunicação (TIC’s) para manutenção de vínculo, educação em saúde, marcação de consulta, dentre outras alternativas de comunicação entre a comunidade e equipe profissional da UBS citada. A partir dos trabalhos com Instagram e Website, foi possível perceber as interações com a comunidade ocorrendo, mesmo à distância, o vínculo no período de quarentena. Apesar da necessidade de melhoria em pontos como design visual, marketing e gerenciamento profissional do portal, consideramos positiva a experiência com as TIC’s, uma ferramenta promissora durante e após o período pandêmico.

This study aimed to analyze two cases of fracture of the metal framework of Co-Cr-based removable partial dentures, using fractography to identify a true cause of these failures. The first case concerned the coupling between the smaller and larger connectors; the patient brought his fractured removable partial dentures to the clinic. The second case referred to a larger connector; structure of the patient fractured during the test. For failure analysis, images of two fractured metal frameworks were taken by scanning electron microscopy to identify the origin of the fracture and to determine the mechanisms involved in the process. Subsequently, energy dispersive X-ray spectroscopy was used for elemental chemical mapping of the fracture interface. The fractography indicated material fatigue as a possible cause in the first case and an error in the casting process in the second. The energy dispersive X-ray spectroscopy test, performed in the specimen of case B, showed predominant and characteristic peaks for Co and Cr, with a higher concentration of chromium. The fractures identified were associated with inclusions and with material fatigue and a number important characteristics were evidenced by the technique. Este estudio tuvo como objetivo analizar dos casos de fractura de la estructura metálica de prótesis parciales removibles a base de Co-Cr, utilizando la fractografía para identificar una verdadera causa de estas fallas. El primer caso se refería al acoplamiento entre los conectores más pequeños y más grandes; el paciente trajo a la clínica sus dentaduras postizas parciales removibles fracturadas. El segundo caso se refería a un conector más grande; estructura del paciente fracturada durante la prueba. Para el análisis de fallas, se tomaron imágenes de dos estructuras metálicas fracturadas mediante microscopía electrónica de barrido para identificar el origen de la fractura y determinar los mecanismos involucrados en el proceso. Posteriormente, se utilizó espectroscopía de rayos X de dispersión de energía para el mapeo químico elemental de la interfaz de la fractura. La fractografía indicó la fatiga del material como posible causa en el primer caso y un error en el proceso de fundición en el segundo. La prueba de espectroscopia de rayos X de energía dispersiva, realizada en la muestra del caso B, mostró picos predominantes y característicos para Co y Cr, con una mayor concentración de cromo. Las fracturas identificadas se asociaron con inclusiones y con la fatiga del material y la técnica evidenció una serie de características importantes. O primeiro caso dizia respeito ao acoplamento entre os conectores menores e maiores; o paciente trouxe suas próteses parciais removíveis fraturadas para a clínica. O segundo caso se referia a um conector maior; estrutura do paciente fraturada durante o teste. Para análise de falha, imagens de duas estruturas metálicas fraturadas foram obtidas por microscopia eletrônica de varredura para identificar a origem da fratura e determinar os mecanismos envolvidos no processo. Posteriormente, a espectroscopia de energia dispersiva de raios-X foi usada para mapeamento químico elementar da interface de fratura. A fractografia indicou fadiga do material como possível causa no primeiro caso e erro no processo de fundição no segundo. O teste de espectroscopia de energia dispersiva de raios-X, realizado no corpo de prova do caso B, apresentou picos predominantes e característicos para Co e Cr, com maior concentração de cromo. As fraturas identificadas foram associadas a inclusões e à fadiga do material e uma série de características importantes foram evidenciadas pela técnica.

PURPOSE The aim of this study was to compare the maximum load on the elastic limit of internal conical (IC) implants with regular external hexagon (REH) and narrow external hexagon (NEH) implants. MATERIALS AND METHODS Thirty cylindrical implants were divided in 3 groups (n = 10): REH (3.75 mm); NEH (3.3 mm); IC (3.5 mm). The implants were evaluated by means of cantilever bending loads using a mechanical testing machine. A strain qualitative analysis and the corresponding angles were analyzed. Using single factor analysis of variance with Tukey Test and Friedman Test (P < 0.05) the statistical analysis for data were performed. RESULTS REH (294.37 N) and IC (294.37 N) groups presented statistically greater Fle than NEH (189.16 N). Regarding to the strain, there were no significant differences among groups. However, there were a greater number of fissures and more fractures present on NEH group. CONCLUSION The IC implant with smaller diameter did not result in reduction of elastic limit when compared with the REH implants. Nevertheless, the reduction of 0.45 mm of the hexagonal connection implant's diameter has significantly diminished the elastic limit.

This study evaluated the microleakage at different implant-abutment (I-A) connections under unloaded and loaded conditions.Forty implants, specially designed with an opening at the apex, were grouped according to the I-A and screw device: external hexagon implants with titanium (EH) or EH diamond-like carbon screws fixing the abutment; internal hexagon implants with titanium screws (IH); and Morse taper implants with solid (MT) or MT passing screws (MTps) abutments. The implants were fixed in a 2-compartment device, and toluidine blue solution (1.0 mg/mL) was placed at the I-A interface (upper compartment). The lower compartment was filled with purified water. Four implants of each group were loaded (50 N, 1.2 Hz) and after 50,000, 100,000, 200,000, and 300,000 cycles, aliquots were collected from the lower compartment for absorbance reading. Data were analyzed using analysis of variance for repeated measurements and Tukey (α = 0.05).Although microleakage increased over time in most of the groups, MTps group showed lower values when loaded (P0.05). The DLC on the EH screw did not prevent microleakage (P0.05).It can be concluded that MT connection is more effective to prevent microleakage.

The aim of this study was to compare vertical and horizontal adjustments of castable abutments after conducting casting and soldering procedures. Twelve external hexagonal implants (3.75 × 10 mm) and their UCLA abutments were divided according their manufacturer and abutment type: PUN (plastic UCLA, Neodent), PUC (plastic UCLA, Conexão), PU3i (plastic UCLA, Biomet 3i), and PUTN (plastic UCLA with Tilite milled base, Neodent). Three infrastructures of a fixed partial implant–supported bridge with 3 elements were produced for each group. The measurements of vertical (VM) and horizontal (HM) misfits were obtained via scanning electron microscopy after completion of casting and soldering. The corresponding values were determined to be biomechanically acceptable to the system, and the results were rated as a percentage. Statistical analysis establishes differences between groups by chi-square after procedures, and McNeman's test was applied to analyze the influence of soldering over casting (α ≤ .05). For the values of VM and HM, respectively, when the casting process was complete, it was observed that 83.25% and 100% (PUTN), 33.3% and 27.75% (PUN), 33.3% and 88.8% (PUC), 33.3% and 94.35% (PU3i) represented acceptable values. After completing the requisite soldering, acceptable values were 50% and 94.35% (PUTN), 16.6% and 77.7% (PUN), 38.55% and 77.7% (PUC), and 27.75% and 94.35% (PU3i). Within the limitations of this study, it can be concluded that the premachined abutments presented more acceptable VM values. The HM values were within acceptable limits before and after the soldering procedure for most groups. Further, the soldering procedure resulted in an increase of VM in all groups.

Purpose Implant-abutment connections still present failures in the oral cavity due to the loosening of mechanical integrity by detorque and corrosion of the abutment screws. The objective of this study was to evaluate the detorque of dental abutment screws before and after immersion in fluoridated solutions. Materials and Methods Five commercial implant-abutment assemblies were assessed in this investigation: (C) Conexao®, (E) Emfils®, (I) INP®, (S) SIN®, and (T) Titanium Fix®. The implants were embedded in an acrylic resin and then placed in a holding device. The abutments were first connected to the implants and torqued to 20 Ncm using a handheld torque meter. The detorque values of the abutments were evaluated after 10 minutes. After applying a second torque of 20 Ncm, implant-abutment assemblies were withdrawn every 3 hours for 12 hours in a fluoridated solution over a period of 90 days. After that period, detorque of the abutments was examined. Scanning electronic microscopy (SEM) associated to energy dispersive spectroscopy (EDS) was applied to inspect the surfaces of abutments. Results Detorque values of systems C, E, and I immersed in the fluoridated solution were significantly higher than those of the initial detorque. ANOVA demonstrated no significant differences in detorque values between designs S and T. Signs of localized corrosion could not be detected by SEM although chemical analysis by EDS showed the presence of elements involved in corrosive processes. Conclusion An increase of detorque values recorded on abutments after immersion in fluoridated artificial saliva solutions was noticed in this study. Regarding chemical analysis, such an increase of detorque can result from a corrosion layer formed between metallic surfaces at static contact in the implant-abutment joint during immersion in the fluoridated solutions.

OBJECTIVES: This study evaluated the microleakage at the implant/abutment interface of external hexagon (eH) implants and abutments with different amounts of bacteria and tightening torques. MATERIAL AND METHODS: A bacterial suspension was prepared to inoculate the implants. The first phase of this study used nine EH implants and abutments that were divided into three groups with different amounts of bacterial suspension (n=3): V0.5: 0.5 µL; V1.0: 1.0 µL e V1.5: 1.5 µL, and tightened to the manufacturer's recommended torque. The second phase of this experiment used 27 assemblies that were similar to those used in the first phase. These samples were inoculated with 0.5 µL of bacterial suspension and divided into three groups (n=9). T10: 10 Ncm; T20: 20 Ncm and T32: 32 Ncm. The samples were evaluated according to the turbidity of the broth every 24 hours for 14 days, and the bacteria viability was tested after that period. This study sought to assess the effect of different surface finishing and polishing protocols on the surface roughness and bacterial adhesion (S. sanguinis) to polymethyl methacrylates (PMMA). Fifty specimens were divided into 5 groups (n=10) according to their fabrication method and surface finishing protocol: LP (3 : 1 ratio and laboratory polishing), NF (Nealon technique and finishing), NP (Nealon technique and manual polishing), MF (3 : 1 ratio and manual finishing), and MP (3 : 1 ratio and manual polishing). For each group, five specimens were submitted to bacterial adhesion tests and analyzed by scanning electron microscopy (SEM). Two additional specimens were subjected to surface topography analysis by SEM and the remaining three specimens were subjected to surface roughness measurements. Data were compared by one-way ANOVA. The mean bacterial counts were as follows: NF,19.6±3.05; MP,5.36±2.08; NP,4.96±1.93; MF,7.36±2.45; and LP,1.56±0.62(CFU). The mean surface roughness values were as follows: NF,3.23±0.15; MP,0.52±0.05; NP,0.60±0.08; MF,2.69±0.12; and LP,0.07±0.02(μm). A reduction in the surface roughness was observed to be directly related to a decrease in bacterial adhesion. It was verified that the laboratory processing of PMMA might decrease the surface roughness and consequently the adhesion ofS. sanguinisto this material.

AIM: To evaluate the microleakage at the implant-abutment (I-A) interface of Morse tapered implants inoculated with different volumes of bacterial suspension. METHODS: Morse tapered I-A sets were selected and divided in two groups depending on the type of abutment: passing screw (PS) and solid (S), and then subdivided into four subgroups (n=6) according to the suspension volume: PS1: 0.1 µL; PS3: 0.3 µL; PS5: 0.5 µL; PS7: 0.7 µL; S1: 0.1 µL; S3: 0.>3 µL; S5: 0.5 µL and S7: 0.7 µL. A control test was performed to verify the presence of external contamination during the inoculation and the implants were incubated for microbiological analysis. The microleakage was evaluated every 24 h for 7 days by the clarity of solution. After this period, the implants were disassembled for confirmation of bacterial viability. RESULTS: All the specimens with 0.7 µL and one sample of S5 presented turbidity in the control test indicating external contamination, and were excluded from the study. After 7 days of observation, none of the specimens presented positive results for microleakage and the bacterial viability was confirmed in all specimens. The 0.1 µL and 0.3 µL volumes did not present bacterial microleakage, meaning that these volumes may be inadequate for analysis. CONCLUSIONS: None of the sets evaluated showed bacterial microleakage at the I-A interface and the volume of 0.7 µL exceeded the internal capacity of the implants.

The loss of gingival volume is a major challenge for dental surgeons with implant-supported fixed prosthesis manufactures, particularly from an aesthetics perspective in patients with a high smile line. Gingival tissue remodeling can help in papillae formation to avoid soft tissue surgery by reestablishing the appropriate shape and gingival contour of the tissues. This improves not only the aesthetics, but also the phonetics of the patient. This paper describes a clinical case of gingival conditioning obtained with interim implant-supported fixed partial dentures via incremental addition and adjustment of acrylic resin. The purpose of the gingival conditioning was to obtain improved aesthetics. Gingival conditioning by gradual pressure application is presented as an easy, non-traumatic technique that improves gingival aesthetics.

In this paper we present a method to improve the automatic detection of events in short sentences when in the presence of a large number of event classes. Contrary to standard classification techniques such as Support Vector Machines or Random Forest, the proposed Fuzzy Fingerprints method is able to detect all the event classes present in the ACE 2005 Multilingual Corpus, and largely improves the obtained G-Mean value.

To observe the photoelastic stress patterns generated around implants in relation to variations in the diameter and total number of implants supporting fixed complete-arch mandibular frameworks.Three different implant configurations were analyzed (n = 3): 5 standard implants with diameters of 3.75 mm (C), 3 standard implants with diameters of 3.75 mm (3S), and 3 wide implants with diameters of 5.0 mm (3W). The samples were subjected to a vertical compressive load (1.33 kgf) applied at the end of the distal cantilever of the framework. The shear stresses were calculated around the implants, and the data were analyzed using one-way analysis of variance.The implants nearest to the loading showed higher stress values regardless of the group. The C group showed lower shear stress when compared with the other groups (P = 0.001). No significant difference was observed between the 3W and 3S groups (P = 0.785).A reduction in the number of implants, regardless of the implant diameter, showed higher stress concentration around the implants. Five-implant configuration showed lower stress concentration and seems to be more biomechanically predictable.

This study's aims was to evaluate the stress distribution in a mandibular implant-supported prosthesis and peri-implant bone considering implant quantity, diameter and position using linear 3-D finite element analysis. Models of an anterior jaw comprised 4 groups according to implant quantity, diameter, and position: control group C, 5 regular implants; R, 3 regular implants; W, 3 wide implants; and DTR, 3 regular implants with the distal ones tilted 30º distally. The cantilever was loaded with an axial load of 50 N. Data was evaluated using von Mises stress on implants and maximum principal stress and microstrain on the bone. The W group showed the lowest value of maximum principal stress in peri-implant bone of the loaded side (4.64 MPa) when compared to C (5.27 MPa), DTR (5.94 MPa), and R (11.12 MPa). Lower stress values in the loaded implants were observed in the experimental groups when compared to the C group. However, the unloaded implants presented opposite results. All the screws of the W group presented lower stress values when compared to the C group. However, the R and DTR groups presented an increase in stress values with the exception of the loaded screw. A reduction in the number of implants associated with wider implants reduced the stress in the bone and prosthetic components.

The aim of this study was to evaluate the photoelastic fringe patterns around two short-wide implants supporting single crowns with different crown-to-implant (C/I) ratios.External hexagon (EH) cylindrical implants (5 × 7 mm) or Morse Taper (MT) conical implants (5 × 6 mm) were embedded individually into photoelastic resin blocks. Each implant received a single metal-ceramic crown, with a C/I ratio of 1:1 or 2:1 (n = 10). Each set was positioned in a polariscope and submitted to a 0.5 kgf compressive load, applied axially or obliquely (30°). The polariscope images were digitally recorded, and based on isoclinal and isochromatic fringes, the shear stress was calculated at 5 predetermined points around each implant. Data were analyzed by two-way ANOVA (α = 0.05).Under axial loading, the stress was concentrated at the crestal region, and there were no differences between C/I ratio or implant types. In contrast, under oblique loading, EH implants showed lower stress values than the MT group and the 2:1 C/I ratio showed higher stress concentration for both implant types (p0.05). Moreover, MT implants showed stress distribution through a higher area than the EH implant did, with a tendency to direct the stress toward the implant's apex under oblique loading.MT conical short-wide implants showed higher stress values that were distributed through a higher area directed to the implant apex. The C/I ratio influences the stress distribution only under oblique loading.

Purpose There is a variety of implant/abutment (I/A) junctions for the connection of implant-supported prostheses. The aim of this work was to compare the shear stress distribution in three types of I/A interfaces after application of oblique loading on the abutments, simulating loading on an anterior tooth. Materials and methods Similar wide unthreaded and cylindric implants (13.0 mm in length and 5.0 mm in diameter) and abutments were fabricated and embedded in photoelastic acrylic resin. The I/A assemblies featured three different I/A interfaces: external hex, internal hex, and internal taper. The samples were submitted to a compressive load of 0.6 kgf, which was applied to the abutment at an angle of 135 degrees. The maximum shear stresses were determined and observed at 21 points around the implants in the photoelastic models (n = 4). Graphics describing the maximum shear stress (y-axis) and the analyzed points (x-axis) were created, and the curve areas were calculated. The Kruskal-Wallis test was applied to analyze the results (P Results There were no statistically significant differences between the groups (P = .058). Conclusion All of the wide-diameter I/A junctions presented similar behavior under oblique loading and appeared to be suitable to support prostheses that could receive this type of loading.

Orientadores: Mauro Antônio de Arruda Nóbilo, Flávio Domingues das Neves Tese (doutorado) - Universidade Estadual de Campinas, Faculdade de Odontologia de Piracicaba Resumo: A conexão entre implante e pilar está diretamente relacionada com o infiltrado bacteriano e a presença de células inflamatórias que levam à perda óssea ao redor da microfenda formada por esta interface. Entretanto, ainda não há consenso quanto aos resultados dos testes in vitro e as metodologias aplicadas para a avaliação da microinfiltração nesta interface. O objetivo neste estudo foi: 1) avaliar, por meio de uma revisão sistemática, a influência das metodologias nos resultados dos estudos in vitro de microinfiltração na interface implante-pilar (I-P); 2) Avaliar, experimentalmente a microinfiltração bacteriana na interface I-P em implantes cone Morse inoculados com diferentes volumes de suspensão bacteriana. Para a revisão sistemática, foi realizada uma procura nas bases de dados MEDLINE, EMBASE e Cochrane, por estudos in vitro avaliando a microinfiltração na interface I-P publicados no período entre 1990 e agosto de 2011. Após a aplicação dos critérios de inclusão e exclusão, os artigos selecionados foram arranjados em tabelas e submetidos a análise descritiva. Para o ensaio de microinfiltração bacteriana foram selecionados implantes e pilares cone Morse, que por sua vez foram divididos em 2 grupos em função do tipo de pilar: parafuso passante (PP) e corpo sólido (CS). Posteriormente, os grupos foram subdivididos em 4 subgrupos, em função do volume de suspensão bacteriana inoculado nos implante (n=6): PP1: 0,1'mi'L; PP3: 0,3'mi'L; PP5: 0,5'mi'L; PP7: 0,7'mi'L; CS1: 0,1'mi'L; CS3: 0,3'mi'L; CS5: 0,5'mi'L e CS7: 0,7'mi'L. Uma suspensão bacteriana de Escherichia coli ATCC 35218 foi inoculada no interior dos implantes com volume de acordo com o respectivo grupo, sendo os componentes apertados segundo recomendações do fabricante. Após a inoculação os espécimes foram imersos em solução nutritiva bacteriana estéril para avaliação de um possível extravasamento do inoculo (grupo controle). Posteriormente, os conjuntos foram incubados em uma nova solução até o recobrimento da junção para avaliação microbiológica. A microinfiltração foi avaliada pela alteração na claridade da solução a cada 24 horas durante 7 dias. Ao final deste período os conjuntos foram reabertos para avaliação da viabilidade bacteriana. A revisão mostrou alta variabilidade de resultados e de tipos de ensaio de microinfiltração entre os estudos, apresentando alguns pontos críticos como volume bacteriano inoculado; concentração bacteriana; método de inoculação; períodos de acompanhamento e verificação de viabilidade bacteriana. No ensaio todos os espécimes inoculados com 0,7'mi'L e uma amostra de CS5 apresentaram turbidez no grupo controle após as primeiras 24 horas sendo excluídas do estudo. Durante os sete dias de acompanhamento nenhum espécime apresentou indicativo de microinfiltração bacteriana. E após este período, a viabilidade bacteriana foi confirmada em todos os espécimes avaliados. Dentro das limitações deste estudo pode se concluir que a falta de padronização entre os estudos in vitro dificulta comparações e pode explicar algumas divergências entre seus resultados. Não foi observada microinfiltração na interface I-P em implantes com conexão do tipo Morse e o volume de 0,7'mi'L excedeu a capacidade máxima do sistema avaliado Abstract: The connection between implant and abutment is directly related to bacterial infiltration and it has been correlated with the presence of bacterial infiltration and inflammatory cells that can lead to bone loss around the marginal bone crest. However, there is no consensus to the in vitro tests results and methodologies for the assessment of microleakage at this interface. The aims of this study were to evaluate: 1) the influence of methodological aspects in variations on the results of in vitro microleakage studies of the implant-abutment (I-A) interface; 2) the bacterial microleakage in the I-A interface of Morse tapered implants inoculated with different volumes. For the review, MEDLINE, EMBASE and Cochrane Library database were consulted for in vitro studies published between 1990 and August 2011. For those studies that met the inclusion and exclusion criteria, data were arranged in tables and subjected to descriptive analysis. In the bacterial microleakage test, Morse tapered implants and abutments were selected and assigned into two groups depending on the abutment type: passing screw abutment (PS) and solid abutment (S), and then further subdivided into four subgroups depending on the volume of inoculation in the inner part of the implant (n=6): PS1: 0.1'mi'L; PS3: 0.3'mi'L; PS5:0.5'mi'L; PS7: 0.7'mi'L; S1: 0.1'mi'L; S3: 0.3'mi'L; S5: 0.5'mi'L e S7: 0.7'mi'L. For the control group, the presence of external contamination was assessed. A bacterial suspension was inoculated in the implants and incubated for microbiological analysis. The microleakage was evaluated every 24 hours during 7 days. After this period, the implants were disassembled for confirmation of the bacterial viability. All the specimens inoculated with 0.7 'mi'L and one sample of S5 presented turbidity in the control group after the first 24 hours and were excluded of the study. During the seven days, none of the specimens presented positive results for microleakage and the bacterial viability was confirmed in all evaluated specimens. Within the limitations of this study, it can be concluded that a lack of standardization hinders comparisons among studies and can give an explanation of some divergences among them; during the seven days, none of the specimens presented positive results for microleakage and the bacterial viability was confirmed in all evaluated specimens; the volumes 0.1, 0.3, and 0.5?L did not present bacterial microleakage in the IA interface. PURPOSE: Edentulism is a common condition among the elderly population. However, it is difficult for elderly subjects who are institutionalized, hospitalized, or bedridden to visit dental offices for the repair or replacement of broken dentures. This paper describes a fast technique with minimum clinical sessions to fabricate a new maxillary denture. CASE DESCRIPTION: An institutionalized 78-year-old man with an extremely damage broken maxillary denture complained about repairing his denture. With the impossibility of repairing, the technique described was proposed so as to offer a treatment that would maximize the comfort of the patient. The maxilla-mandibular relationship was done at the first clinical session, after fabricating the maxillary resin baseplate in mouth, by fixing the old complete mandibular denture with the maxillary wax plane. At the second clinical session, the esthetics and function of artificial teeth was checked and final impression was made to the denture installation at next session. CONCLUSION: The reduced number of clinical sessions is a convenient option for clinicians to provide a more comfortable treatment for institutionalized or bedridden patients. This technique is also particularly useful when a replacement denture is urgently required, allowing its installation within few hours. OBJETIVO: O edentulismo é uma condição comum dentre a população idosa. Entretanto, quando estes indivíduos encontram-se institucionalizados, hospitalizados ou acamados, consultar um cirurgião-dentista para reparo ou substituição de próteses totais pode ser uma situação difícil. Neste caso, é relatada uma técnica mais rápida para confecção de uma prótese total superior em um número mínimo de sessões clínicas. DESCRIÇÃO DO CASO: Indivíduo institucionalizado de 78 anos de idade, apresentando uma prótese extremamente danificada após deixá-la cair sobre o chão, queixava de necessidade de reparo na mesma. Na impossibilidade de reparo, foi proposta esta técnica descrita para oferecer um tratamento com maior conforto para o paciente. O relacionamento maxilo-mandibular foi feito na primeira sessão clínica, após confeccionar a base de prova diretamente em boca, fixando a própria prótese inferior do paciente com o plano de cera. Na segunda sessão clínica, a prova estética e funcional é feita e a moldagem final realizada para instalação da prótese na sessão seguinte. CONCLUSÃO: O número reduzido de sessões clínicas é uma opção conveniente para os clínicos e gera um tratamento mais confortável para indivíduos institucionalizados ou acamados. Esta técnica também pode ser útil para substituição de prótese total em caráter de urgência, onde a prótese pode ser instalada no mesmo dia ou no dia seguinte.

This study evaluated the loss of the torque applied after use of new screws and after successive tightening. Four infrastructures (IE), using UCLA castable abutment type, were cast in cobalt-chromium alloy and new abutment screws (G1) were used in a first moment. Subsequently, the same abutment screws were used a second time (G2) and more than two times (G3). The values of the torques applied and detorques were measured with a digital torque wrench to obtain the values of initial tightening loss (%). Data were analyzed by ANOVA and Tukey's test (?=0.05). Significant differences were observed between the G1 (50.71% ± 11.36) and G2 (24.01% ± 3.33) (p=0.000) and between G1 (50.71% ± 11.36) and G3 (25.60% ± 4.64) (p=0.000). There was no significant difference between G2 and G3 (p=0.774). Within the limitations of the study, it may be concluded that the percentage of the initial torque loss is lower when screws that already suffered the application of an initial torque were used, remaining stable after application of successive torques. Quatro infra-estruturas (IE), utilizando pilares calcináveis tipo UCLA, foram fundidas em liga de cobalto-cromo, onde novos parafusos de pilares foram utilizados (G1) em um primeiro momento. Posteriormente os mesmos parafusos de pilares foram utilizados em um segundo momento (G2), e depois por mais duas vezes (G3). The purpose of this study was to warn the dental community about a possible problem in function with partial implant–supported prostheses used for long periods. The misalignment between natural teeth and the implant-supported prosthesis on teeth 11 and 12, observed in a 14-year clinical follow-up, illustrates the fact. The metal-ceramic crowns were placed in 1995 after a rigorous occlusal adjustment. Evaluations were made at 4, 6, 9, and 14 years, when it was noticed that the restorations were positioned palatally and extruded in comparison with the natural teeth. After 9 years, a greater discrepancy was noticed, with anterior occlusion and esthetic changes. The possible causes have been discussed: occlusal problems, parafunctional habits, and natural movement. The first 2 options were discarded after clinical analysis and diagnosis. Therefore, the natural movement probably deriving from an interaction of mechanical and genetic factors might have been the cause. The implants do not have periodontal ligaments but rather ankylosis, so they do not suffer those movements. This case emphasizes the need to inform patients that implants can last more than 10 years in function, but this is not the case with restorations, which lose function and esthetics and must be replaced.

This paper describes an enhanced automatic keyphrase extraction method applied to Broadcast News. The keyphrase extraction process is used to create a concept level for each news.
