Solar ultraviolet radiation (UVR) is a major source of skin damage, resulting in inflammation, premature ageing, and cancer. While several UVR-induced changes, including extracellular matrix reorganisation and epidermal DNA damage, have been documented, the role of different fibroblast lineages and their communication with immune cells has not been explored. We show that acute and chronic UVR exposure led to selective loss of fibroblasts from the upper dermis in human and mouse skin. Lineage tracing and in vivo live imaging revealed that repair following acute UVR is predominantly mediated by papillary fibroblast proliferation and fibroblast reorganisation occurs with minimal migration. In contrast, chronic UVR exposure led to a permanent loss of papillary fibroblasts, with expansion of fibroblast membrane protrusions partially compensating for the reduction in cell number. Although UVR strongly activated Wnt signalling in skin, stimulation of fibroblast proliferation by epidermal β-catenin stabilisation did not enhance papillary dermis repair. Acute UVR triggered an infiltrate of neutrophils and T cell subpopulations and increased pro-inflammatory prostaglandin signalling in skin. Depletion of CD4- and CD8-positive cells resulted in increased papillary fibroblast depletion, which correlated with an increase in DNA damage, pro-inflammatory prostaglandins, and reduction in fibroblast proliferation. Conversely, topical COX-2 inhibition prevented fibroblast depletion and neutrophil infiltration after UVR. We conclude that loss of papillary fibroblasts is primarily induced by a deregulated inflammatory response, with infiltrating T cells supporting fibroblast survival upon UVR-induced environmental stress.

Abstract We report the extent, specific sites and structural requirements of joint inflammation related citrullination in extracellular proteins. A total of 40 synovial fluid samples derived from chronically inflamed human joints were analysed by heparin-agarose fractionation and LC-MS/MS. Citrullination of 55 arginines in extracellular proteins was detected. Importantly, 20% of the sites have a characterized function related to the hallmarks of destructive joint inflammation. E.g. four arginine residues, shown here to be citrullinated, are also affected by mutations in inherited diseases causing haemolysis or blood clotting dysfunction. Citrullination of integrin ligands was selected for further studies since fibronectin R234 in isoDGR was among the most frequently citrullinated arginines in synovial fluid. Assays with synovial fibroblasts and integrin αVβ3 indicated decreased affinity to the enzymatically citrullinated integrin binding sites. To conclude, our data indicate that in inflamed joints extensive citrullination affects the functional arginine residues in extracellular proteins.

Abstract InSb p-i-n structures were grown on an undoped InSb wafer in a horizontal metal organic vapour phase epitaxy reactor. 200 to 300 nm thick layers were fabricated using silane and zinc as dopant sources for the n-type and p-type layers, respectively. The defects of these samples were studied using synchrotron X-ray topography in large area transmission and transmission section geometries. Pendellösung fringes typical of a nearly perfect crystal were seen in the transmission section topographs. Large area transmission topographs showed dynamical diffraction images of voids and precipitates. Also straight and circular arc dislocations were observed. Most of the images seen in the topographs arise from the defects in the epilayers. Assuming that all precipitates and voids of the layer have been imaged the average precipitate and void density was calculated to be 4000 cm−2 or 2 × 108 cm−3 in the best sample. Background: Dual gating is a method of dividing the data of a cardiac PET scan into smaller bins according to the respiratory motion and the ECG of the patient. It reduces the undesirable motion artefacts in images, but produces several images for interpretation and decreases the quality of single images. By using motion-correction techniques, the motion artefacts in the dual-gated images can be corrected and the images can be combined into a single motion-free image with good statistics., Aim: The aim of the present study is to develop and evaluate motion-correction methods for cardiac PET studies. We have developed and compared two different methods: computed tomography (CT)/PET-based and CT-only methods., Methods: The methods were implemented and tested with a cardiac phantom and three patient datasets. In both methods, anatomical information of CT images is used to create models for the cardiac motion., Results: In the patient study, the CT-only method reduced motion (measured as the centre of mass of the myocardium) on average 43%, increased the contrast-to-noise ratio on average 6.0% and reduced the target size on average 10%. Slightly better figures (51, 6.9 and 28%) were obtained with the CT/PET-based method. Even better results were obtained in the phantom study for both the CT-only method (57, 68 and 43%) and the CT/PET-based method (61, 74 and 52%)., Conclusion: We conclude that using anatomical information of CT for motion correction of cardiac PET images, both respiratory and pulsatile motions can be corrected with good accuracy.

Purpose: In order to improve the treatment of squamous cell carcinoma of the head and neck, precise information on the treated tumour's biology is required and the prognostic importance of different biological parameters needs to be determined. The aim of our study was to determine the predictive value of pretreatment PET/CT imaging using [(18)F]FDG, a new hypoxia tracer [(18)F]EF5 and the perfusion tracer [(15)O]H₂O in patients with squamous cell cancer of the head and neck treated with radiochemotherapy., Methods: The study group comprised 22 patients with confirmed squamous cell carcinoma of the head and neck who underwent a PET/CT scan using the above tracers before any treatment. Patients were later treated with a combination of radiochemotherapy and surgery. Parametric blood flow was calculated from dynamic [(15)O]H₂O PET images using a one-tissue compartment model. [(18)F]FDG images were analysed by calculating standardized uptake values (SUV) and metabolically active tumour volumes (MATV). [(18)F]EF5 images were analysed by calculating tumour-to-muscle uptake ratios (T/M ratio). A T/M ratio of 1.5 was considered a significant threshold and used to determine tumour hypoxic subvolumes (HS) and hypoxic fraction area. The findings were finally correlated with the pretreatment clinical findings (overall stage and TNM stage) as well as the outcome following radiochemotherapy in terms of local control and overall patient survival., Results: Tumour stage and T-classification did not show any significant differences in comparison to the patients' metabolic and functional characteristics measured on PET. Using the Cox proportional hazards model, a shorter overall survival was associated with MATV (p = 0.008, HR = 1.108), maximum [(18)F]EF5 T/M ratio (p = 0.0145, HR = 4.084) and tumour HS (p = 0.0047, HR = 1.112). None of the PET parameters showed a significant effect on patient survival in the log-rank test, although [(18)F]EF5 maximum T/M ratio was the closest (p = 0.109). By contrast, tumour blood flow was not correlated with any of the clinical endpoints. There were no statistically significant correlations among [(18)F]FDG SUVmax, [(18)F]EF5 T/M ratio and blood flow., Conclusion: Our study in a limited number of patients confirmed the importance of MATV in the prognosis of locally advanced squamous cell carcinoma of the head and neck. It is of interest that high uptake of the hypoxia tracer [(18)F]EF5 showed a stronger correlation with a poor clinical outcome than [(18)F]FDG uptake. This confirms the importance of hypoxia in treatment outcome and suggests that [(18)F]EF5 may act as a surrogate marker of radioresistance.

Unlabelled: Somatostatin receptor subtype 2 (sstr2) is regarded as a potential target in malignant gliomas for new therapeutic approaches. Therefore, visualizing and quantifying tumor sstr2 expression in vivo would be highly relevant for the future development of sstr2-targeted therapies. The purpose of this study was to evaluate sstr2 status in experimental BT4C malignant gliomas., Methods: Rat BT4C malignant glioma cells were injected into BDIX rat brain or subcutaneously into nude mice. Tumor uptake of [(68)Ga]DOTA-(Tyr(3))-Octreotide ([(68)Ga]DOTATOC), a somatostatin analog binding to sstr2, was studied by positron emission tomography/computed tomography (PET/CT). Additionally, subcutaneous tumor-bearing mice underwent PET imaging with 5-deoxy-5-[(18)F]fluororibose-NOC ([(18)F]FDR-NOC), a novel glycosylated peptide tracer also targeting sstr2. Ex vivo tissue radioactivity measurements, autoradiography and immunohistochemistry were performed to study sstr2 expression., Results: Increased tumor uptake of [(68)Ga]DOTATOC was detected at autoradiography with mean tumor-to-brain ratio of 68 ± 30 and tumor-to-muscle ratio of 9.2 ± 3.8 for rat glioma. High tumor-to-muscle ratios were also observed in subcutaneous tumor-bearing mice after injection with [(68)Ga]DOTATOC and [(18)F]FDR-NOC with both autoradiography (6.7 ± 1.5 and 4.3 ± 0.8, respectively) and tissue radioactivity measurements (6.5 ± 0.8 and 4.8 ± 0.6, respectively). Furthermore, sstr2 immunohistochemistry showed positive staining in both tumor models. However, surprisingly low tumor signal compromised PET imaging. Mean SUVmax for rat gliomas was 0.64 ± 0.28 from 30 to 60 min after [(68)Ga]DOTATOC injection. The majority of subcutaneous tumors were not visualized by [(68)Ga]DOTATOC or [(18)F]FDR-NOC PET., Conclusions: Experimental BT4C gliomas show high expression of sstr2. Weak signal in PET imaging, however, suggests only limited benefit of [(68)Ga]DOTATOC or [(18)F]FDR-NOC PET/CT in this tumor model for in vivo imaging of sstr2 status.

Unlabelled: This first-in-human study investigated the safety, tolerability, metabolism, pharmacokinetics, biodistribution, and radiation dosimetry of (68)Ga-bombesin antagonist (68)Ga-DOTA-4-amino-1-carboxymethylpiperidine-d-Phe-Gln-Trp-Ala-Val-Gly-His-Sta-Leu-NH2 (BAY 86-7548)., Methods: Five healthy men underwent dynamic whole-body PET/CT after an intravenous injection of BAY 86-7548 (138 ± 5 MBq). Besides total radioactivity, plasma samples were analyzed by radio-high-performance liquid chromatography for metabolism of the tracer. Dosimetry was calculated using the OLINDA/EXM software., Results: Three radioactive plasma metabolites were detected. The proportion of unchanged BAY 86-7548 decreased from 92% ± 9% at 1 min after injection to 19% ± 2% at 65 min. The organs with the highest absorbed doses were the urinary bladder wall (0.62 mSv/MBq) and the pancreas (0.51 mSv/MBq). The mean effective dose was 0.051 mSv/MBq. BAY 86-7548 was well tolerated by all subjects., Conclusion: Intravenously injected BAY 86-7548 is safe, and rapid metabolism is demonstrated. A 150-MBq injection of BAY 86-7548 results in an effective dose of 7.7 mSv, which could be reduced to 5.7 mSv with frequent bladder voids.

Purpose: The aim of this study was to develop a simple noninvasive method for measuring blood flow using [15O]H2O PET/CT for the head and neck area applicable in daily clinical practice., Patients and Methods: Fifteen dynamic [15O]H2O PET emission scans with simultaneous online radioactivity measurements of radial arterial blood [Blood-input functions (IFs)] were performed. Two noninvasively obtained population-based input functions were calculated by averaging all Blood-IF curves corrected for patients' body mass and injected dose [standardized uptake value (SUV)-IF] and for body surface area (BSA-IF) and injected dose. Parametric perfusion images were calculated for each set of IFs using a linearized two-compartment model, and values for several tissues were compared using Blood-IF as the gold standard., Results: On comparing all tissues, the correlation between blood flow obtained with the invasive Blood-IF and both SUV-IF and BSA-IF was significant (R2=0.785 with P<0.001 and R2=0.813 with P<0.001, respectively). In individual tissues, the performance of the two noninvasive methods was most reliable in resting muscle and slightly less reliable in tumour and cerebellar regions. In these two tissues, only BSA-IF showed a significant correlation with Blood-IF (R2=0.307 with P=0.032 in tumours and R2=0.398 with P<0.007 in the cerebellum)., Conclusion: The BSA-based noninvasive method enables clinically relevant delineation between areas of low and high blood flow in tumours. The blood flow of low-perfusion tissues can be reliably quantified using either of the evaluated noninvasive methods.

Purpose: Positron emission tomography (PET) with ¹⁵O-labeled water (H₂ ¹⁵O) facilitates the visualization and quantification of blood flow in clinical investigations and also in small animals. The quantification of blood flow requires an input function, which is generally obtained by measuring radioactivity in arterial blood withdrawn during PET scanning. However, this approach is not always feasible, because abundant blood sampling may affect the physiological process being measured. The purpose of the present study was to develop and cross-validate two methods, namely, a blood- and an image-based method for obtaining the input function for blood flow studies from rat H₂ ¹⁵O PET., Methods: The study material consisted of two separate groups of rats. Group 1 rats were imaged twice by a high-resolution research tomograph PET camera at resting condition for a test-retest study (n = 4), and group 2 rats were imaged with and without adenosine infusion for a rest-stress study (n = 4). In group 1, radioactivity concentration in arterial blood was measured with a new flow-through detector during imaging and a blood-based input function was obtained. The image-based input function was estimated using time-activity curves from the left ventricle and myocardial regions. To validate the two input function methods, myocardial blood flow (MBF) and cerebral blood flow (CBF) were computed, and the methods were tested for reproducibility (test-retest study) and changes (rest-stress study)., Results: The blood- and image-based input functions were similar, and the corresponding CBF values differed only by -6.9 ± 8.1%. In the test-retest study, both MBF and CBF showed good reproducibility, and in the rest-stress study, adenosine significantly increased both MBF (P = 0.035) and CBF (P = 0.029), compared with the resting condition., Conclusion: It is possible both to measure the input function from rat arteria femoralis during H₂ ¹⁵O PET imaging and to estimate the input function from rat H₂ ¹⁵O PET images, thereby facilitating the assessment of blood flow in organs visible in PET images.

Purpose: The aim of the study was to compare (68)Ga-chloride with 2-[(18)F]fluoro-2-deoxy-D: -glucose (FDG) for the imaging of pancreatic xenografts., Procedures: Rats with subcutaneous human pancreatic adenocarcinoma xenografts were evaluated in vivo by dynamic positron emission tomography (PET) and ex vivo by measuring radioactivity of excised tissues and by digital autoradiography of tumor cryosections., Results: Both tracers were capable of delineating all subcutaneous tumors from surrounding tissues by PET. The standardized uptake values of tumors by PET were 0.9 +/- 0.3 (mean +/- SD) for (68)Ga-chloride (n = 13) and 1.8 +/- 1.2 for FDG (n = 11). Ex vivo studies showed tumor-to-muscle ratio of 4.0 +/- 0.3 for (68)Ga-chloride (n = 4) and 7.9 +/- 3.2 for FDG (n = 4)., Conclusions: (68)Ga-chloride delineated subcutaneously implanted pancreatic adenocarcinoma xenografts by PET, but the uptake was lower than FDG. Further studies to clarify the value of (68)Ga-chloride for PET imaging of tumors are warranted.

Inhibition of monoamine oxidase type B (MAO-B) activity in the brain is a putative strategy for the treatment of Alzheimer's disease (AD). We performed a dose-selection and validation study of a novel, reversible MAO-B inhibitor, EVT 301. Sixteen healthy volunteers received selegiline (10 mg) or EVT 301 (25, 75, or 150 mg) daily for 7-8 days, and four subjects with AD received 75 mg of EVT 301. MAO-B occupancy in the brain was assessed using positron emission tomography (PET) with [11C]-L-deprenyl-D2. EVT 301 was found to dose-dependently occupy MAO-B in the human brain, with occupancy ranging from 58-78% at a dose of 25 mg to 73-90% at a dose of 150 mg. The corresponding occupancy after selegiline was 77-92%. Determination of MAO-B inhibition in blood platelets underestimated the actual brain occupancy achieved with EVT 301. A daily EVT 301 dose of 75 or 150 mg appears suitable for clinical efficacy studies in patients with AD.

Objectives: To test the image quality and feasibility of a sequential low radiation dose protocol for hybrid cardiac PET/CT angiography (CTA)., Background: Multidetector computed tomography (MDCT) is a non-invasive method for coronary angiography. The negative predictive value of MDCT is high but perfusion imaging has a role in detecting functional significance of coronary lesions. This has encouraged combining these techniques. However, radiation dose is of concern. We report our first experiences with a low dose sequential CTA mode applicable to hybrid imaging., Methods: In the first phase, 10 consecutive cardiac MDCT angiographies were performed with spiral acquisition and compared in terms of image quality and dose with the following 10 patients performed with a new sequential mode. In the second phase, feasibility and radiation dose of a combined (15)O-water rest-stress PET perfusion/sequential CTA protocol were assessed in another group of 61 consecutive patients., Results: Mean effective radiation dose was 60% lower in the sequential group than in the spiral group (19.3 versus 7.6 mSv, P<0.001). In the second phase, the new sequential hybrid protocol proved possible in 87% of the patients given the preconditions determined by the manufacturer. Mean effective dose of the CT acquisition was 7.6 mSv and total dose from the PET/CTA hybrid study 9.5 mSv., Conclusion: Low dose PET/CT allows cardiac hybrid studies with <10 mSv. The protocol can be applied to almost nine out of 10 patients with CT image quality comparable to spiral acquisition.

Unlabelled: The aim of this study was to evaluate 2-(2-nitro-(1)H-imidazol-1-yl)-N-(2,2,3,3,3-pentafluoropropyl)-acetamide (EF5) labeled with (18)F-fluorine to image hypoxia in patients with squamous cell carcinoma of the head and neck (HNSCC)., Methods: Fifteen patients with HNSCC were studied. Measurement of tumor blood flow was followed by an (18)F-EF5 PET/CT scan. On a separate day, (18)F-FDG PET/CT was performed to determine the metabolically active tumor volume. In 6 patients, dynamic (18)F-EF5 images of the head and neck area were acquired, followed by static images acquired at 1, 2, and 3 h after injection. In the remaining 9 patients, only static images were obtained. (18)F-EF5 uptake in tumors was compared with that in neck muscle, and the (18)F-EF5 findings were correlated with the (18)F-FDG PET/CT studies., Results: A total of 13 primary tumors and 5 lymph node metastases were evaluated for their uptake of (18)F-EF5. The median tumor-to-muscle (18)F-EF5 uptake ratio (T/M) increased over time and was 1.38 (range, 1.1-3.2) 3 h after tracer injection. The median blood flow in tumors was 36.7 mL/100 g/min (range, 23.3-78.6 mL/100 g/min). Voxel-by-voxel analysis of coregistered blood flow and (18)F-EF5 images revealed a distinct pattern, resulting in a T/M of 1.5 at 3 h to be chosen as a cutoff for clinically significant hypoxia. Fourteen of 18 tumors (78%) had subvolumes within the metabolically active tumor volumes with T/M greater than or equal to 1.5., Conclusion: On the basis of these data, the potential of (18)F-EF5 to detect hypoxia in HNSCC is encouraging. Further development of (18)F-EF5 for eventual targeting of antihypoxia therapies is warranted.

Background: Animal studies have demonstrated a strong neuroprotective property of xenon. Its usefulness in patients with cerebral pathology could be compromised by deleterious effects on regional cerebral blood flow (rCBF)., Methods: 15O-labeled water was used to determine rCBF in nine healthy male subjects at baseline and during 1 minimum alveolar concentration (MAC) of xenon (63%). Anesthesia was based solely on xenon. Absolute changes in rCBF were quantified using region-of-interest analysis and voxel-based analysis., Results: Mean arterial blood pressure and arterial partial pressure for carbon dioxide remained unchanged. The mean (+/-SD) xenon concentration during anesthesia was 65.2+/-2.3%. Xenon anesthesia decreased absolute rCBF by 34.7+/-9.8% in the cerebellum (P<0.001), by 22.8+/-10.4% in the thalamus (P=0.001), and by 16.2+/-6.2% in the parietal cortex (P<0.001). On average, xenon anesthesia decreased absolute rCBF by 11.2+/-8.6% in the gray matter (P=0.008). A 22.1+/-13.6% increase in rCBF was detected in the white matter (P=0.001). Whole-brain voxel-based analysis revealed widespread cortical reductions and increases in rCBF in the precentral and postcentral gyri., Conclusions: One MAC of xenon decreased rCBF in several areas studied. The greatest decreases were detected in the cerebellum, the thalamus and the cortical areas. Increases in rCBF were observed in the white matter and in the pre- and postcentral gyri. These results are in clear contradiction with ketamine, another N-methyl-D-aspartate antagonist and neuroprotectant, which induces a general increase in cerebral blood flow at anesthetic concentrations.

Purpose: This study sought to evaluate an imaging approach using [15O]H2O and positron emission tomography (PET) for simultaneous assessment of myocardial perfusion, cardiac function and lung water content as a potential indicator of pulmonary oedema., Methods: Twenty-six subjects divided into two groups (group I, 13 patients with idiopathic dilated cardiomyopathy; group II, 13 healthy volunteers) underwent dynamic PET scanning after intravenous infusion of approximately 995 MBq [15O]H2O. In both groups, echocardiograms were performed after the PET studies. From the dynamic [15O]H2O data, lung water content (LWC) at equilibrium, myocardial blood flow (MBF), cardiac output (CO), stroke volume (SV) and stroke volume indexes (SVI) using the indicator dilution principle were determined., Results: LWC was 18% (p = 0.038) higher in patients than in controls. Global MBF did not differ significantly between the groups, but regional MBF values were significantly lower (p < 0.05) in the anterior and septal walls in the patient group. The results of the Passing-Bablok regression indicated the absence of a systematic difference between the two techniques. Bland-Altman analysis performed for each group (patients vs healthy controls) showed a non-significant bias (p > 0.1) of -0.02 +/- 0.82 vs -0.05 +/- 0.54 l/min (CO), -1.44 +/- 14.31 vs 1.70 +/- 10.56 ml/beat (SV) and 0.47 +/- 6.21 vs 0.30 +/- 5.02 ml/beat/m2 (SVI). The 95% limits of agreement were -1.62 to 1.59 vs -1.11 to 1.01 l/min (CO), -26.61 to 29.49 vs -22.39 to 18.99 ml/beat (SV) and -11.69 to 12.88 vs -9.53 to 10.14 ml/beat/m2 (SVI). Right ventricular CO was increased by 33% (p = 0.014) in the patient group as compared with normal controls., Conclusion: Our results demonstrate that additional analysis of cardiac function and lung water content are feasible from the dynamic cardiac [15O]H2O PET studies acquired for myocardial perfusion. The parameters appear to work as expected. Further studies are warranted to elucidate the clinical value of these new parameters.

We explored functional brain changes with positron emission tomography (PET) in mild cognitive impairment (MCI) patients and elderly normal controls by employing an episodic memory task that included two successive encoding trials of semantically related word-pairs and final retrieval. Both groups demonstrated significant learning across the two trials. The control group showed predominantly left frontal activity during encoding, and right frontal plus left temporal activity during retrieval. However, the MCI patients recruited partly different brain regions. They failed to activate right frontal and left temporal areas during retrieval, and failed to show any different activation for encoding on the first and second trials, whereas the controls activated a region of posterior cingulate. There was indication of compensatory increases in rCBF of the occipital cortex during incremental learning and the left frontal lobe during retrieval in the patients. These results suggest different episodic memory processing in the MCI group, and a possible over-reliance on semantic processing. Subtle functional changes occur in the pre-Alzheimer brain before there are marked structural or behavioural abnormalities.

Mobile phones create a radio-frequency electromagnetic field (EMF) around them when in use, the effects of which on brain physiology in humans are not well known. We studied the effects of a commercial mobile phone on regional cerebral blood flow (rCBF) in healthy humans using positron emission tomography (PET) imaging. Positron emission tomography data was acquired using a double-blind, counterbalanced study design with 12 male subjects performing a computer-controlled verbal working memory task (letter 1-back). Explorative and objective voxel-based statistical analysis revealed that a mobile phone in operation induces a local decrease in rCBF beneath the antenna in the inferior temporal cortex and an increase more distantly in the prefrontal cortex. Our results provide the first evidence, suggesting that the EMF emitted by a commercial mobile phone affects rCBF in humans. These results are consistent with the postulation that EMF induces changes in neuronal activity.

A methodological study on subject-specific regression analysis (SSRA) exploring the correlation between the neural response and the subjective evaluation of emotional experience in eleven healthy females is presented. The target emotions, i.e., amusement and sadness, were induced using validated film clips, regional cerebral blood flow (rCBF) was measured using positron emission tomography (PET), and the subjective intensity of the emotional experience during the PET scanning was measured using a category ratio (CR-10) scale. Reliability analysis of the rating data indicated that the subjects rated the intensity of their emotional experience fairly consistently on the CR-10 scale (Cronbach alphas 0.70-0.97). A two-phase random-effects analysis was performed to ensure the generalizability and inter-study comparability of the SSRA results. Random-effects SSRAs using Statistical non-Parametric Mapping 99 (SnPM99) showed that rCBF correlated with the self-rated intensity of the emotional experience mainly in the brain regions that were identified in the random-effects subtraction analyses using the same imaging data. Our results give preliminary evidence of a linear association between the neural responses related to amusement and sadness and the self-evaluated intensity of the emotional experience in several regions involved in the emotional response. SSRA utilizing subjective evaluation of emotional experience turned out a feasible and promising method of analysis. It allows versatile exploration of the neurobiology of emotions and the neural correlates of actual and individual emotional experience. Thus, SSRA might be able to catch the idiosyncratic aspects of the emotional response better than traditional subtraction analysis.
