Chemotherapy continues to be the most commonly applied strategy for cancer. Despite the impressive clinical success obtained with several drugs, increasing numbers of (multi)drug-resistant tumors are reported. To overcome this shortcoming, novel drug candidates and delivery systems are urgently needed. Herein, a therapeutic copper polypyridine complex encapsulated in natural nanocarrier apoferritin is reported. The generated nanoparticles showed higher cytotoxicity toward various (drug-resistant) cancer cell lines than noncancerous cells. The study of the mechanism revealed that the compound triggers cell autophagy-dependent apoptosis. Promisingly, upon injection of the nanodrug conjugate into the bloodstream of a mouse model bearing a multidrug-resistant colon tumor, a strong tumor growth inhibition effect was observed. To date, this is the first study describing the encapsulation of a copper complex in apoferritin that acts by autophagy-dependent apoptosis.

Bamboo continues to be of interest in buildings and structures owing to its good mechanical properties and sustainability. In this study, a new method of bamboo use is proposed, which is to twine laminated bamboo lumber (LBL) slices to form a bamboo-fiber-reinforced composite tube (bamboo slices twining tube, BST). Considering the high tensile strength of bamboo fiber, BST is proposed to replace steel and FRP as the confining jacket acting on concrete. A total of 10 BST and BST-confined concrete (BCC) short columns were subjected to axial compressive tests using the BST wall thickness as a variable. The test results show that the mechanical properties of BSTs are close to those of engineered bamboo under tension and compression. The failure mode of the BCC specimens is the rupture of the BST wall in the middle of the columns. BSTs can effectively confine the concrete.The BST with a wall-thickness of 5 ~ 12 mm can enhance the compressive strength and the ultimate strains of the plain concrete (PC) column by more than 1/4 and 3 times, respectively. Finally, an analysis-oriented stress–strain model for the BCCs is proposed, and the predictions of the proposed model can reproduce the experimental curves well.

Four iridium (III) complexes Ir1-Ir4 were synthesized and characterized. Possessing high singlet oxygen production ability and specific mitochondria-localization, Ir1 was developed as a mitochondria-targeting photosensitizer. Ir1 exhibited strong phototoxicity against cancer cell line A549 and its corresponding cisplatin-resistant one A549R. In contrast, Ir1 showed low cytotoxicity toward normal cell HLF. This selectivity resulted from the different uptake amount. With 405 nm irradiation, Ir1 induced mitochondria-mediated cell death in A549R cells, achieving the overcome of drug-resistant.

Photodynamic therapy (PDT) provides an alternative option to root out localized triple-negative breast cancer (TNBC) and has been experiencing a surge of research interest over recent years. In this study, we put forward a paradigm of designing novel transition metal-based PSs with the following characteristics: favorable cell-permeability, significant light-harvesting ability and prominent ROS yield. A novel BODIPY-Ir(III) conjugate has been designed as a photoinduced ROS (1O2, ˙OH and ˙O2−) generator. BODIPY-Ir is highly photoactive in subduing cancer cells in the PDT regimen with PI values ranging from 172 to 519 and EC50 in the nanomolar regime. Among various cancerous cell lines, TNBC was especially sensitive to BODIPY-Ir-mediated PDT, with a stunning EC50 value of 4.32 nM (PI = 519) under a moderate flux of visible-light irradiation (500 nm, 10.5 mW cm−2). BODIPY-Ir mainly accumulates in mitochondria and induces cell apoptosis under irradiation. Furthermore, the nanomolar antiproliferative activity of BODIPY-Ir is retained under hypoxia (2.5% O2). This work sheds light on instilling the O2-independent type I mechanism and conferring a red-shift absorption to metal-based PSs which fundamentally facilitate the clinical translation of PSs.

In this work, a theoretical formula based on equivalent circuit model is proposed to describe the influence of frequency on the droplet actuation behavior in reverse electrowetting. To verify the theory, changes of droplet profile are monitored by charge coupled device (CCD) camera and simulated by COMSOL. It shows that the threshold voltage required for the droplet to start contracting inward increases firstly and then decreases with the increasing frequency. When the frequency is 1 kHz, the threshold voltage reaches the maximum value. Once the droplet begins to move inward, its contact angle increases with the working voltage. As for 4 kHz, the contact angle increases linearly from 60° to 154° when voltage ranges from 16 V to 50 V, while the droplet remained stationary when U < 16 V. The relative experimental results well accord with the theoretical prediction.

To study the flexural behavior of a composite beam, original single and double bamboo beams (SBBs and DBBs, respectively) and sprayed lightweight composite mortar-original bamboo composite beams (SCBs and DCBs) were designed and subjected to a four-point bending test based on the moisture content of the original bamboo. The failure modes, bearing capacity, and initial flexural rigidity of all of the beams were analyzed. Also, the strengthening effect of the lightweight composite mortar on the flexural behavior was studied. The results showed that a higher moisture content in the bamboo degraded the anti-slip property of the bond interface between the lightweight composite mortar and bamboo. The moisture content of the bamboo should be kept at approximately 20% before spraying. The initial flexural rigidity and bearing capacity of the DBBs were approximately 2.5 times and twice that of the SBBs, respectively. The initial flexural rigidities of the SCBs and DCBs were approximately 3.8 and 5.7 times that of the SBBs and DBBs, respectively. The ultimate load bearing capacity of the composite beams was approximately 1.5 times that of the original bamboo beams. It was shown that the lightweight composite mortar had a remarkable strengthening effect on the flexural behavior of the original bamboo.

A joint connecting multiple members is prone to failure under accidental loads such as blasting, impact, and ice-snow thick cover. A scaled Kiewitt-6 (K6) single-layer latticed dome with a rise-to-span ratio of 1/8 was tested to evaluate the collapse resistance. After three members of the same joint were abruptly removed in succession, the displacements and strains of the remaining structures were determined. The collapse-resistant performance of the identical dome under simultaneous failure (SIF) of the aforementioned three members was analyzed after developing and validating a finite element (FE) model. Finally, the dynamic performance of numerous full-scale K6 domes with different rise-to-span ratios under two failure conditions was investigated. The results indicate that the failure mode of the tested dome under the successive failure (SUF) condition is local collapse. The members connected to the failed joint and other members rely on the beam and compression mechanisms, respectively, to resist progressive collapse. The FE results are well validated by the test results, and the difference between the two conditions is examined via theoretical analysis. Compared with the SUF condition, K6 single-layer latticed domes are more prone to progressive collapse under the SIF condition. A novel collapse model related to the failure conditions, rise-to-span ratios, and loads of single-layer latticed domes is proposed in this work.

To study the interfacial bond–slip behavior of shaped steel–engineered cementitious composite (ECC) materials, nine full-scale H-shaped steel–ECC specimens were tested. Theoretical equations for the ultimate and residual bond stresses were established via statistical fitting. A tensile constitutive model of the ECC was proposed, and cohesive elements were used in a finite element (FE) analysis to simulate the shaped steel–ECC interface. The results show that the failure mode of the tested specimens is a splitting failure with multiple typical splitting and intumescent cracks in the ECC material. The bond stress has a non-uniform distribution, and the outer flange of the H-shaped steel bears most of the load. Compared with the test and FE results, Eqs. (6) , (11) exhibit good computational accuracy. The rationality of the FE modeling strategy, especially the manner of addressing the issues of tensile constitutive model of ECC and contact of shaped steel and ECC, is verified.

Metastasis is a major health threat for most cancer patients, thus anti-metastasis treatments that reduce cell migration and invasion are critical for cancer treatment. In this study, four anthraquinone-bridged diruthenium(II) complexes, [(bpy)2Ru(L)Ru(bpy)2]4+ (Ru1, L = 1,4-bis(1H-imidazo[4,5-f][1,10]phenanthrolin-2-yl)anthracene-9,10-dione; Ru2, L = 1,5-bis(1H-imidazo[4,5-f][1,10]phenanthrolin-2-yl)anthracene-9,10-dione; Ru3, L = 2,6-bis(1H-imidazo[4,5-f][1,10]phenanthrolin-2-yl)anthracene-9,10-dione; and Ru4, L = 2,7-bis(1H-imidazo[4,5-f][1,10]phenanthrolin-2-yl)anthracene-9,10-dione) were synthesized and characterized. These Ru(II) complexes exhibited multi-targeted anti-metastatic properties against human hepatocarcinoma MHCC97-H cells that included the inhibition of migration and invasion. Further investigation of the intracellular mechanisms revealed that Ru(II) complexes suppressed the phosphorylation of ERK and AKT. Moreover, significant reduction of the extracellular and intracellular expression of the metastatic regulatory proteins MMP-2 and MMP-9 was also observed after Ru1–Ru4 treatment. In addition, these Ru(II) complexes negatively modulate the actin cytoskeleton by inhibiting Cdc42 protein expression, arresting the cells in the G2/M phase. The results indicate that these ruthenium(II) complexes have potential as drug candidates for anti-metastatic therapies.

The harsh environmental conditions bring strong nonlinearities to the hydrodynamic performances of the offshore floating platforms, which challenge the reliable prediction of the platform coupled with the mooring system. The present study investigates a typical semi-submersible under both the operational and the survival conditions through numerical and experimental methods. The motion responses, the mooring line tensions, and the wave loads on the longitudinal mid-section are investigated by both the fully non-linearly coupled numerical simulation and the physical experiment. Particularly, in the physical model test, the wave loads distributed on the semi-submersible’s mid-section were measured by dividing the model into two parts, namely the port and the starboard parts, which were rigidly connected by three six-component force transducers. It is concluded that both the numerical and physical model can have good prediction of the semi-submersible’s global responses. In addition, an improved numerical approach is proposed for the estimation of the mooring-induced damping, and is validated by both the experimental and the published results. The characteristics of the mooring-induced damping are further summarized in various sea states, including the operational and the survival environments. In order to obtain the better prediction of the system response in deep water, the mooring-induced damping of the truncated mooring lines applied in the physical experiment are compensated by comparing with those in full length. Furthermore, the upstream taut and the downstream slack mooring lines are classified and investigated to obtain the different mooring line damping performances in the comparative study.

A convenient, high efficient method for the reduction of 4-azidonaphthalimide to 4-aminonaphthalimide (1) by using PMe3 has been developed. Several 4-substituted 1,8-naphthalimide iminophosphoranes were also successfully synthesized. Their structures were characterized by NMR and MS analyses. The structures of compounds 2 and 3 were also confirmed by single crystal X-ray diffraction analysis. Their optoelectronic properties of these naphthalimides were investigated. The results indicated that their optical properties could be tuned by different phosphine ligands, which make them novel potential organic luminescent materials.

Reservoir evaluation, which works throughout the oil and gas development, has always focused on exploration and development needs [1-3].There are many influencing factors and data in the evaluation process, thus it’s difficult to select the reasonable evaluation parameters and methods. Selecting the appropriate evaluation parameters and evaluation methods can improve the accuracy of evaluation, reduce the evaluation workload. Regional studies have shown that Delta-front sub-facies is the major sedimentary type of the Chang 8 in Baibao oilfield, widely distributed delta distributary channel and mouth bar sands are good oil and gas reservoirs in the area. In this paper, cluster analysis reservoir evaluation is using to obtain their correct evaluation parameters, in order to provide the basis for further development.

The semirigid bipyrazolyl and tripyrazolyl ligands, namely 1,4-bis((3,5-diphenyl-1H-pyrazol-4-yl)-methyl)benzene (H2L1) and 1,3,5-tris((3,5-diphenyl-1H-pyrazol-4-yl)methyl)benzene (H3L2), and their Cu(I) complexes (Cu2L1) n (1), Cu4(HL2)2 (2) have been prepared and structurally characterized. Single-crystal X-ray analysis demonstrates that 1 exhibits a 2D structure featuring cyclic trinuclear Cu3pz3 subunits. Complex 2 is a tetranuclear compound in which the tripyrazolyl ligand is partially deprotonated and acts as a μ 4 bridge connecting four Cu(I) atoms.

effects of slurry fused Ni60 interlayer on bond strength of cermet coating to GH202 substrate were studied. A compact NiCrBSi interlayer was prepared by slurry fused method and the NiCr-HfB2 cermet coating was fabricated on the interlayer. Surface morphology of the NiCrBSi interlayer and NiCr-HfB2 cermet coating and cross-sectional morphology of samples with the NiCrBSi interlayer were examined by means of SEM. The bond strength of the NiCr-HfB2 cermet coating to GH202 substrate with and without the NiCrBSi interlayer was measured by pulling apart tests. And thermal shock resistance of the cermet coating with and without the intermediate layer was measured. The results show that the NiCrBSi interlayer effectively enhance the bond strength of the NiCr-HfB2 cermet coating to GH202 substrate and the thermal shock resistance of the cermet coating .

Based on the UG 6.0 platform, with the three dimensional digital technology, combined with UG CAM template customization, this paper is about the research and development of hole groove class feature extraction module, automatically selecting hole groove parts feature information, through reasoning, to implement the corresponding processing template calls, with the aid of process parameters of knowledge database to realize automatic processing of information given, then to realize the automatic generation of NC program, and to realize the seamless integration of CAD/CAM.

A new naphtho[1,2-b]furan, 2,9-dihydroxy-7-methoxy-4-methylnaphtha[1,2-b]furan-3(2H)-one (1), along with 10 known compounds vanillic acid (2), naringenin (3), glyceryl-1-tetracosanoate (4), moracin J (5), 1,3,8-trihydroxyanthraquinone (6), esculetin (7), mauritianin (8), kaempferol 3-neohesperidoside (9), β-sitosterol (10), and β-daucosterol (11), was isolated from the leaves of Cassia fistula. The structure of the new compound was determined by NMR and X-ray analysis. Compounds 1, 3, 5-9 were isolated from this plant for the first time. The naphtha[1,2-b]furan was firstly isolated from the natural resources.

Due to their versatile coordination modes and metal-binding conformations, triazolyl ligands can provide a wide range of possibilities for the construction of supramolecular structures. Seven mononuclear transition metal complexes with different structural forms, namely aquabis[3-(4-methylphenyl)-5-(pyridin-2-yl)-1H-1,2,4-triazolato-κ2 N 1,N 5]zinc(II), [Zn(C14H11N4)2(H2O)], (I), bis[5-(4-methylphenyl)-3-(pyridin-2-yl)-1H-1,2,4-triazole-κ2 N 3,N 4]bis(nitrato-κO)zinc(II), [Zn(NO3)2(C14H12N4)2], (II), bis(methanol-κO)bis[3-(4-methylphenyl)-5-(pyridin-2-yl)-1H-1,2,4-triazolato-κ2 N 1,N 5]zinc(II), [Zn(C14H11N4)2(CH4O)2], (III), diiodidobis[5-(4-methylphenyl)-3-(pyridin-2-yl)-1H-1,2,4-triazole-κ2 N 3,N 4]cadmium(II), [CdI2(C14H12N4)2], (IV), bis[5-(4-methylphenyl)-3-(pyridin-2-yl)-1H-1,2,4-triazole-κ2 N 3,N 4]bis(nitrato-κO)cadmium(II), [Cd(NO3)2(C14H12N4)2], (V), aquabis[3-(4-methylphenyl)-5-(pyridin-2-yl)-1H-1,2,4-triazolato-κ2 N 1,N 5]cobalt(II), [Co(C14H11N4)2(H2O)], (VI), and diaquabis[3-(4-methylphenyl)-5-(pyridin-2-yl)-1H-1,2,4-triazolato-κ2 N 1,N 5]nickel(II), [Ni(C14H11N4)2(H2O)2], (VII), have been prepared by the reaction of transition metal salts (ZnII, CdII, CoII and NiII) with 3-(4-methylphenyl)-5-(pyridin-2-yl)-1H-1,2,4-triazole (pymphtzH) under either ambient or hydrothermal conditions. These compounds have been characterized by elemental analysis, IR spectroscopy and single-crystal X-ray diffraction. All the complexes form three-dimensional supramolecular structures through hydrogen bonds or through π–π stacking interactions between the centroids of the pyridyl or arene rings. The pymphtzH and pymphtz− entities act as bidentate coordinating ligands in each structure. Moreover, all the pyridyl N atoms are coordinated to metal atoms (Zn, Cd, Co or Ni). The N atom in the 4-position of the triazole group is coordinated to the Zn and Cd atoms in the crystal structures of (II), (IV) and (V), while the N atom in the 1-position of the triazolate group is coordinated to the Zn, Co and Ni atoms in (I), (III), (VI) and (VII).

Because of their versatile coordination modes and strong coordination ability for metals, triazole ligands can provide a wide range of possibilities for the construction of metal–organic frameworks. Three transition-metal complexes, namely bis(μ-1,2,4-triazol-4-ide-3-carboxylato)-κ3 N 2,O:N 1;κ3 N 1:N 2,O-bis[triamminenickel(II)] tetrahydrate, [Ni2(C3HN3O2)2(NH3)6]·4H2O, (I), catena-poly[[[diamminediaquacopper(II)]-μ-1,2,4-triazol-4-ide-3-carboxylato-κ3 N 1:N 4,O-[diamminecopper(II)]-μ-1,2,4-triazol-4-ide-3-carboxylato-κ3 N 4,O:N 1] dihydrate], {[Cu2(C3HN3O2)2(NH3)4(H2O)2]·2H2O} n , (II), (μ-5-amino-1,2,4-triazol-1-ide-3-carboxylato-κ2 N 1:N 2)di-μ-hydroxido-κ4 O:O-bis[triamminecobalt(III)] nitrate hydroxide trihydrate, [Co2(C3H2N4O2)(OH)2(NH3)6](NO3)(OH)·3H2O, (III), with different structural forms have been prepared by the reaction of transition metal salts, i.e. NiCl2, CuCl2 and Co(NO3)2, with 1,2,4-triazole-3-carboxylic acid or 3-amino-1,2,4-triazole-5-carboxylic acid hemihydrate in aqueous ammonia at room temperature. Compound (I) is a dinuclear complex. Extensive O—H...O, O—H...N and N—H...O hydrogen bonds and π–π stacking interactions between the centroids of the triazole rings contribute to the formation of the three-dimensional supramolecular structure. Compound (II) exhibits a one-dimensional chain structure, with O—H...O hydrogen bonds and weak O—H...N, N—H...O and C—H...O hydrogen bonds linking anions and lattice water molecules into the three-dimensional supramolecular structure. Compared with compound (I), compound (III) is a structurally different dinuclear complex. Extensive N—H...O, N—H...N, O—H...N and O—H...O hydrogen bonding occurs in the structure, leading to the formation of the three-dimensional supramolecular structure.

This paper describes the mixed-mode bending test fracture toughness of composite adhesive J116-b. The test theory and experimental requirements are introduced. The fracture toughness of mode I, mode II, and different mode mixture of 0.4, 0.6, and 0.8 are obtained. It is found that the total fracture toughness is increasing with the increasing of mode mixture. It is also obtained that the technique of calculating fracture toughness by considering the influence of the weight of lever and attach apparatus is more accurate.

Reactions of 3(5)-methyl-5(3)-phenyl-1H-1,2,4-triazole (3-Me-5-Ph-tzH) with AgNO3 in the absence/presence of NH3 yield a mononuclear [Ag(3-Me-5-Ph-tzH)2]NO3·3H2O (1) and a polymeric [Ag(3-Me-5-Ph-tz)]n (2), respectively. Two structurally different infinite chains, however, with the same formula of AgC9H8N3—one is double-decked and the other single zigzag—coexist in 1:1 ratio in the crystal of 2. As far as we know, 2 is the first binary silver(I) complex based on an asymmetric triazole and represents a rare case of two supramolecular isomers coexisting in the same crystal.

Two ruthenium(II) complexes [Ru(bpy)(2)(bfipH)](2+) (1) and [Ru(phen)(2)(bfipH)](2+) (2) have been synthesized and characterized. The DNA-binding behaviors of complexes were studied by using spectroscopic and viscosity measurements. Results suggested that the two complexes bind to DNA in an intercalative mode. Complexes 1 and 2 can efficiently photocleave pBR322 DNA in vitro under irradiation, singlet oxygen ((1)O(2)) was proved to contribute to the DNA photocleavage process. Topoisomerase inhibition and DNA strand passage assay confirmed that two Ru(II) complexes acted as efficient dual inhibitors of topoisomerases I and II. In MTT cytotoxicity studies, two Ru(II) complexes exhibited antitumor activity against BEL-7402, HeLa, MCF-7 tumor cells. The AO/EB staining assay indicated that Ru(II) complexes could induce the apoptosis of HeLa cells.

Four metal complexes, namely [Cu2(ttzCOO)2(H2O)4]・4H2O (1), [Zn2(ttzCOO)2(H2O)6]・2H2O (2), [Pb(ttzCOO)(H2O)2]n (3), and {[Cd(ttzCOO)(H2O)]・1/2H2O}n (4), where ttzCOO2− = tetrazole-5-carboxylate dianion, have been prepared by the reaction of the sodium salt of 1Htetrazole- 5-carboxylic acid ethyl ester in aqueous methanolic solution at room temperature with CuCl2, ZnI2, Pb(NO3)2, or Cd(NO3)2, respectively. The compounds were characterized by elemental analysis, IR spectroscopy, TG-DSC analysis and single-crystal X-ray diffraction. While 1 and 2 are structurally similar dinuclear complexes, 3 and 4 exhibit a 1D chain structure and a 3D polymeric framework, respectively.

A new ruthenium(II) complex [Ru(bpy)2(pzta)]2+ (1) [bpy = 2,2′-bipyridine; pzta = 6-(pyrzin2-yl)-1,3,5-triazine-2,4-diamine] has been synthesized and characterized. This complex exhibits a typical aggregation-induced emission (AIE) behavior that it is faint in solution but intense in the aggregate state.

Two polymorphs of silver 5-(3-aminophenyl)tetrazolates – α- and β-Ag(amphttz) have been obtained by the reaction of amphttzH with AgNO3 in presence of ammonia either in ambient condition or under the hydrothermal condition, respectively (amphttzH = 5-(3-aminophenyl)tetrazole). Both of the two phases of Ag(amphttz) were characterized by elemental analyses, IR spectra and single-crystal X-ray diffraction. X-ray analysis shows α-, β-phases crystallize in P -1 with a = 8.551 (2) A, b = 8.720(2) A, c = 11.173(2) A, α = 98.15(3)°, β = 90.95(3)°, γ = 95.45(3)° and C 2/c with a = 13.542(3) A, b = 10.135(2) A, c = 12.610(3) A, β = 113.58(3)°, respectively. Complex (I) has a one-dimensional ladder structure, with strong N—H...O and weak N—H...Cl hydrogen bonds linking the cations and anions in the three-dimensional supramolecular structure. Complex (II) has a one-dimensional chain structure. Extensive O—H...O and N—H...O hydrogen bonds between the anionic ligands and the solvent water molecules and π–π stacking interactions between the centroids of the benzene rings lead to the three-dimensional supramolecular structure. Complex (III) is a binuclear molecule which is extended into a three-dimensional supramolecular structureviastrong N—H...O and weak C—H...O hydrogen bonds.

A new ligand, 4‐(N‐salicylaldehyde Schiff base) benzeneformylhydrazone‐N′‐salicylaldehyde (H3L), and a new quaternary complex 1, [Ni(sphs)(iz)] · EtOH (sphs=H3L, iz=imidazole), has been designed and synthesized. The structural unit of complex 1 consists of the following groups: one Ni(II), one molecular H3L, one imidazole and one ethanol. It belongs to the orthorhombic system and has a Pbca space group. One deprotonated oxygen in enol‐form, one deprotonated oxygen of hydroxyl and one nitrogen of metheleneimine for H3L and one nitrogen atom of imidazole coordinated to central Ni with two oxygen and two nitrogen in anti‐form, respectively, constructed distorted square geometry, an ethanol existed in crystal lattice. There are intramolecular and intermolecular hydrogen bonds in the crystal structure.

A chemodosimeter was designed to function as a highly selective phosphate ion (Pi ) sensor, showing a 91-fold ratiometric fluorescence enhancement. The probe successfully visualized exogenous and endogenous apyrase-catalyzed Pi generation and was the first probe able to trace the generation and enrichment of Pi through hemichannel closure in Sf9 cells.

The abundance of offshore wind energy resources has promoted the development of offshore wind turbine. With the increase of wind turbine power, the fixed foundation for shallow sea area no longer meets the design requirements, and the floating foundation for deep sea area has been developed rapidly. In this paper, the development process, types and particularity are introduced, and it demonstrates that the model experiment is indispensable in the development of floating offshore wind turbine (FOWT). Firstly, key technologies of basin model test are concluded, such as similarity criteria, scale ratio determination technology, model blade design technology, mooring system processing technology and environmental conditions simulation technology. Then object of 6 MW SPAR-type FOWT proposed by Shanghai JiaoTong University is researched, and production process of model is summarized, including model blade, model nacelle and model tower. Finally, the construction of the deep water test tank of marine engineering of Shanghai JiaoTong University is introduced, and the test results of the new multi-column TLP FOWT model test in the test tank are shown. The test results have great agreement with software simulation results. The results show that the deep water test tank of marine engineering of Shanghai JiaoTong University can be well developed as basin model test of FOWT. This paper supplies some guidance for the following model test and provides a theoretical basis for the development of the FOWT.

Five novel ruthenium(II) complexes, [Ru(dtzp)(dppt)](2+) (1), [Ru(dtzp)(pti)](2+) (2), [Ru(dtzp)(ptn)](2+) (3), [Ru(dtzp)(pta)](2+) (4) and [Ru(dtzp)(ptp)](2+) (5) (where dtzp = 2,6-di(thiazol-2-yl)pyridine, dppt = 3-(1,10-phenanthroline-2-yl)-5,6-diphenyl-as-triazine), pti = 3-(1,10-phenanthroline-2-yl)-as-triazino-[5,6-f]isatin, ptn = 3-(1,10-phenanthroline-2-yl)-as-triazino[5,6-f]naphthalene, pta = 3-(1,10-phenanthroline-2-yl)-as-triazino[5,6-f]acenaphthylene, and ptp = 3-(1,10-phenanthroline-2-yl)-as-triazino[5,6-f]-phenanthrene), were synthesised and characterised. The structures of complexes 3-5 were determined by X-ray diffraction. The DNA binding behaviours of the complexes were studied by spectroscopic and viscosity measurements. The results suggested that the Ru(II) complexes, except for complex 1, bind to DNA in an intercalative mode. Topoisomerase inhibition and DNA strand passage assay confirmed that Ru(II) complexes 3, 4, and 5 acted as efficient dual inhibitors of topoisomerases I and IIα. In vitro cytotoxicity assays indicated that these complexes exhibited anticancer activity against various cancer cell lines. Ruthenium(ii) complexes were confirmed to preferentially accumulate in the nucleus of cancer cells and induced DNA damage. Flow cytometric analysis and AO/EB staining assays indicated that these complexes induced cell apoptosis. With the loss of the mitochondrial membrane potential, the Ru(ii) complexes induce apoptosis via the mitochondrial pathway.

A series of 1,4-disubstituted ruthenium-vinyl complexes, (E,E)-[{(PMe3)3(CO)ClRu}2(μ-HC=CH-Ar-CH=CH)], in which the 1,4-diethenylphenylene bridge bears two oligo(ethylene glycol)methyl ether side chains at different positions (2,5- and 2,3-positions), were prepared. The respective products were characterized by elemental analyses and NMR spectroscopy. The structures of complexes 1b and 1e were established by X-ray crystallography. The electronic properties of the complexes were investigated by cyclic voltammetry, and IR and UV-vis/NIR spectroscopies. Electrochemical studies showed that the 2,5-substituents better stabilized the mixed-valence states; the electrochemical behavior was greatly affected by lithium cations, especially complex 1g with 2,3-substituents, which was further supported by IR and UV-vis/NIR spectra changes. Spectroelectrochemical studies showed that the redox chemistry was dominated by the non-innocent character of the bridging fragment.

In the anion of the title compound, NH4+·C16H13O3−·2H2O, the benzene rings are twisted with respect to each other by 73.56 (10)°. In the crystal, extensive N—H...O and O—H...O hydrogen bonds link the cations, anions and lattice water molecules into a three dimensional supramolecular structure.

Three new tridentate copper(II) complexes [Cu(dthp)Cl(2)] (1) (dthp=2,6-di(thiazol-2-yl)pyridine), [Cu(dmtp)Cl(2)] (2) (dmtp=2,6-di(5-methyl-4H-1,2,4-triazol-3-yl)pyridine) and [Cu(dtp)Cl(2)] (3) (dtp=2,6-di(4H-1,2,4-triazol-3-yl)pyridine) have been synthesized and characterized. Crystal structure of complex 1 shows that the complex existed as distorted square pyramid with five co-ordination sites occupied by the tridentate ligand and the two chlorine anions. Ethidium bromide displacement assay, viscosity measurements, circular dichroism studies and cyclic voltammetric experiments suggested that these complexes bound to DNA via an intercalative mode. Three Cu(II) complexes were found to efficiently cleave DNA in the presence of sodium ascorbate, and singlet oxygen ((1)O(2)) and hydrogen peroxide were proved to contribute to the DNA cleavage process. They exhibited anticancer activity against HeLa, Hep-G2 and BEL-7402 cell lines. Nuclear chromatin cleavage has also been observed with AO/EB staining assay and the alkaline single-cell gel electrophoresis (comet assay). The results demonstrated that three Cu(II) complexes cause DNA damage that can induce the apoptosis of BEL-7402 cells.

DNA topoisomerases (I and II) have been one of the excellent targets in anticancer drug development. Here two chiral ruthenium(II) anthraquinone complexes, Δ- and Λ-[Ru(bpy)(2)(ipad)](2+), where bpy is 2,2'-bipyridine and ipad is 2-(anthracene-9,10-dione-2-yl)imidazo[4,5-f][1,10]phenanthroline, were synthesized and characterized. As expected, both of the Ru(II) complexes intercalate into DNA base pairs and possess an obviously greater affinity with DNA. Topoisomerase inhibition and DNA strand passage assay confirmed that the two complexes are efficient dual inhibitors of topoisomerases I and II by interference with the DNA religation. In MTT cytotoxicity studies, two Ru(II) complexes exhibited antitumor activity against HeLa, MCF-7, HepG2 and BEL-7402 tumor cell lines. Flow cytometry analysis shows an increase in the percentage of cells with apoptotic morphological features in the sub-G1 phase for Ru(II) complexes. Nuclear chromatin cleavage has also been observed from AO/EB staining assay and alkaline single-cell gel electrophoresis (comet assay). The results demonstrated that Δ- and Λ-[Ru(bpy)(2)(ipad)](2+) act as dual inhibitors of topoisomerases I and II, and cause DNA damage that can lead to cell cycle arrest and/or cell death by apoptosis.

In the title complex, [Co(C15H6ClO4)2(H2O)4]·2H2O, the CoIIion is bound by two carboxylate O atoms of two 5-chloro-9,10-anthraquinone-1-carboxylate anions and four water O atoms in atransconformation, forming an irregular octahedral coordination geometry. This arrangement is stabilized by intramolecular O—H...O hydrogen bonds between water and carboxylate. Further O—H...O hydrogen bonds between coordinating and non-coordinating water and carboxylate produce layers of molecules that extend parallel to (001). The organic ligands project above and below the plane. Those ligands of adjacent planes are interdigitated and there are π–π interactions between them with centroid–centroid distances of 3.552 (2) and 3.767 (2) Å that generate a three-dimensional supramolecular structure.

Two novel DNA-intercalating ruthenium(II) complexes, [Ru(bpy)(2)(PIPSH)](2+) and [Ru(bpy)(2)(PIPNH)](2+), have been synthesized and characterized. Gel retardation assay, atomic force microscopy, and dynamic light scattering studies show that both complexes can induce the condensation of originally circular plasmid pBR322 DNA to particulate structures under neutral conditions.
