Abstract: The Programme on Ecosystem Change and Society (PECS) was established in 2011, and is now one of the major international social-ecological systems (SES) research networks. During this time, SES research has undergone a phase of rapid growth and has grown into an influential branch of sustainability science. In this Perspective, we argue that SES research has also deepened over the past decade, and helped to shed light on key dimensions of SES dynamics (e.g. system feedbacks, aspects of system design, goals and paradigms) that can lead to tangible action for solving the major sustainability challenges of our time. We suggest four ways in which the growth of place-based SES research, fostered by networks such as PECS, has contributed to these developments, namely by: 1) shedding light on transformational change, 2) revealing the social dynamics shaping SES, 3) bringing together diverse types of knowledge, and 4) encouraging reflexive researchers. Abstract: International audience; As of early 2022, only six species bearing an N−Obond have been detected toward cold molecular clouds and regionsof star formation. It is not clear yet if the small number of N−Obond species found in the interstellar medium so far stems fromphysical and technological limitations of astronomical detectiontechniques, or whether in fact molecules that bear an N−O bondare for some reason rare in these objects of the interstellar medium.Astronomical N−O bearing molecules are important because theyare part of astrochemical models which propose that they areprecursors of hydroxylamine (NH2OH), a species linked to theformation of prebiotic amino acids in space. The aim of this studyis the better understanding of the open question of the interstellarsynthesis of N−O bearing species. We have analyzed by infraredspectroscopy an astrophysically relevant polar ice mixture of N2O:H2O processed by 90 MeV 136Xe23+ ions, which can mimic thephysicochemical processes triggered by cosmic rays in water-covered interstellar ice grains. The results show the formation of N2O3and of H2O2, but no HN−O species of any kind were detected. Such findings are discussed in light of recent studies from our groupand from the literature.

Abstract: XXXVII WORKSHOP BRASILEIRO DE INTEGRAÇÃO DE BANCOS DE DADOS E INTELIGÊNCIA ARTIFICIAL; International audience; Spatio-temporal Predictive Queries encompass a spatio-temporal constraint, defining a region, a target variable, and an evaluation metric. The output of such queries presents the future values for the target variable computed by predictive models at each point of the spatio-temporal region. Unfortunately, especially for large spatio-temporal domains with millions of points, training temporal models at each spatial domain point is prohibitive. In this work, we propose a data-driven approach for selecting pre-trained temporal models to be applied at each query point. The chosen approach applies a model to a point according to the training and input time series similarity. The approach avoids training a different model for each domain point, saving model training time. Moreover, it provides a technique to decide on the best-trained model to be applied to a point for prediction. In order to assess the applicability of the proposed strategy, we evaluate a case study for temperature forecasting using historical data and auto-regressive models. Computational experiments show that the proposed approach, compared to the baseline, achieves equivalent predictive performance using a composition of pre-trained models at a fraction of the total computational cost.

Abstract: International audience; Time series event detection is related to studying methods for detecting observations in a series with special meaning. These observations differ from the expected behavior of the data set. In data streaming scenarios, it is possible to observe an increase in the speed of data generation in time series. Therefore, adapting to time series changes becomes crucial. Thus, identifying events associated with these changes is essential for timely and correct decision-making. Although there are many methods to detect events, it is still possible to have difficulties detecting them correctly, particularly those associated with concept drift. In order to fill the gap in the literature, this work proposes a new method, named Forward and Backward Inertial Anomaly Detector (FBIAD), for detecting events in time series. It contributes by analyzing surrounding inertia around observations. FBIAD outperformed other methods both in accuracy and elapsed time.

Abstract: International audience; The nonstationary time series prediction is challenging since it demands knowledge of both data transformation and prediction methods. This paper presents TSPred, a framework for nonstationary time series prediction. It differs from the mainstream frameworks since it establishes a prediction process that seamlessly integrates nonstationary time series transformations with state-of-the-art statistical and machine learning methods. It is made available as an R-package, which provides functions for defining and conducting time series prediction, including data pre(post)processing, decomposition, modeling, prediction, and accuracy assessment. Besides, TSPred enables user-defined methods, which significantly expands the applicability of the framework.

Abstract: International audience; Spatiotemporal patterns bring knowledge of sequences of events, place and time when they occur. Finding such patterns is a complex task and one of great value for different domains. However, not all patterns are frequent across an entire dataset, often occurring in restricted space and time. This work formalizes the Mining of Restricted Sequences in Space and Time, without the use of previous restrictions of time and space, allowing different sequence sizes, time intervals and space (in three dimensions) to present such patterns. It also brings validation with a tested implementation on a real seismic dataset. No entanto, nem todos os padrões são frequentes em todo um conjunto de dados, ocorrendo com frequência em espaço e tempo restritos. Este trabalho formaliza a Mineração de Sequências Restritas no Espaço e no Tempo, sem o uso de limiares de restrição para tempo e espaço. Isso permite que diferentes tamanhos de sequências, inter- valos de tempo e espaço tridimensional apresentem tais padrões. Traz também validação com uma implementação testada sobre um conjunto de dados sísmico real. Tendo como resultado uma análise de sensibilidade e avaliação do uso de recursos que indicam a validade e viabilidade da solução.

Abstract: H2O and CO molecules are the main constituents of the interstellar dust grain ice mantles. Infrared spectra of the ices in line of sights of young stellar objects and background stars have shown that the CO stretching vibration band can be decomposed into three main components: 2143, 2139 and 2136 cm−1, assigned to CO in different environment sites. The relative strengths between the components have been associated to an evolutionary track of the interstellar molecular clouds. H2O:CO (3:2) and (10:1) ices samples were irradiated by 0.79 MeV/u 58Ni13 + ions to simulate the effects produced by heavy ion cosmic rays in typical interstellar ices mixtures. The CO stretching vibration band is decomposed into six Gaussians functions (2150, 2144, 2141, 2138, 2136 and 2133 cm−1) and their integrated absorbances were measured as a function of fluence. The results have shown that, at the final fluence, the component 2138 cm−1 is the main component of the CO stretching vibration band. The component 2150 cm−1 disappears at the beginning of irradiation. Based on the present and previous results, a time scale for the components in the interstellar ices is proposed. For H2O:CO ice in the ISM it is predicted that, after 1 Myrs, the main components of the CO stretching vibration band are the 2138 cm−1 and 2141 cm−1, due to the CO monomers and dimers, respectively.

Abstract: International audience; N2O and CO2 can be formed in the interstellar space and in ices on the surface of outer solar system bodies, such as Pluto and Triton. Energetic ions can simulate the energy transfer processes that occur by cosmic ray irradiation of interstellar ices, comets, and icy solar system bodies. Proceeding systematic research, pure nitrous oxide (N2O) ice, and nitrous oxide and carbon dioxide (CO2) ice mixture were irradiated at 11 K with MeV-nitrogen (N+) and -xenon (Xe23+) ion beams. The chemical and physical effects induced by ion irradiation on the N2O ice and the N2O:CO2 ice mixture are compared. The formation and dissociation cross sections scale with the electronic stopping power (Se) roughly as σ ∼ a Sen, where n ∼ 3/2. The n power law is helpful for predicting the N2O formation and dissociation cross-sections for other ion beam projectiles and energies; these predictions will allow estimating the effects of the entire cosmic ray radiation field.

Abstract: Ti6Al4V produced by selective laser melting (SLM) is replacing the use of casting workpieces as it is a net-near shape process that can maintain its mechanical and biocompatibility properties and it can produce scaffolds geometry reducing the workpiece weight. Typically, the microstructure produced by SLM differs from casted workpieces, the surface roughness of SLM is also different is also higher compared to casted pieces. If it is needed precision and smooth surfaces, it is necessary to add machining after SLM, especially for the production of channels smaller than 1 mm, which is the case of micromilling. For the definition of micromilling, it is not recommended to use the ones indicated for meso scale and there are few studies on the micromilling of Ti6AL4V implants produced by SLM. This study compares the machinability of the standard commercial Ti6Al4V with produced by SLM during micromilling process using different feed per tooth configurations (from 0.5 to 4.0 μ m). The analysis of machinability considered cutting forces, surface roughness, burr formation analysis and microchips morphology. Despite presenting higher strength and hardness, SLM material presented higher machinability with lower forces, lower surface roughness and less burs, explained by the SLM microstructural of fined acicular α ’ martensite due to the rapid cooling of the material.

Abstract: International audience; Discovering motifs in time series data has been widely explored. Various techniques have been developed to tackle this problem. However, when it comes to spatial-time series, a clear gap can be observed according to the literature review. This paper tackles such a gap by presenting an approach to discover and rank motifs in spatial-time series, denominated Combined Series Approach (CSA). CSA is based on partitioning the spatial-time series into blocks. Inside each block, subsequences of spatial-time series are combined in a way that hash-based motif discovery algorithm is applied. Motifs are validated according to both temporal and spatial constraints. Later, motifs are ranked according to their entropy, the number of occurrences, and the proximity of their occurrences. The approach was evaluated using both synthetic and seismic datasets. CSA outperforms traditional methods designed only for time series. CSA was also able to prioritize motifs that were meaningful both in the context of synthetic data and also according to seismic specialists.

Abstract: International audience; Pure titanium is the ideal metallic material to be used for producing dental implants due to its good corrosion resistance and bio-compatibility. However, pure titanium does not present high mechanical resistance, which can be a limiting factor. Recently, the pure titanium is being replaced by titanium alloy with aluminum and vanadium (Ti-6Al-4V). This study deals with micromil-ling machinability of pure titanium and Ti-6Al-4V considering mechanical properties, the forces measured during the process, surface roughness, top burr height, and chips morphology. The cutting tests are performed for the constant depth of cut and cutting speed, and a range of feed per tooth from 0.5 to 4.0 lm/tooth. Results show no significant differences in roughness and burr formation , whereas higher forces are found for the titanium alloy compared to pure metal. Both materials produce long chips for smaller feeds.

Abstract: International audience; Physico-chemical modifications induced by swift heavy ions on methane-water (CH 4 :H 2 O) ices at 15 K are analyzed. Ice films, at concentrations of (1:3) and (1:15), were irradiated by 40 MeV 58 Ni 11+ ions. Fourier transform transmission spectroscopy in the mid-range was used to monitor the evolution ices at 15 K as a function of projectile fluence. New IR bands appearing for the irradiated (CH 4 :H 2 O) (1:3) ice are attributed to the synthesized molecules: C 3 H 8 , HCO, H 2 CO, CO, CO 2 , H 2 O 2 , HCOOH, CH 3 OH, C 2 H 5 OH, and CH 3 CHO. For the irradiated (CH 4 :H 2 O) (1:15) ice, the abundances of the compounds containing two carbons atoms are lower than those for the (1:3) ice; in contrast, CH 3 OH and H 2 O 2 abundances increase when compared to the values obtained with the (1:3) ice. After irradiation, the ices were warmed up until 110 K, when the IR spectra reveal features of complex organic molecules. The destruction and formation cross sections and the sputtering yields of the ice mixtures are estimated. These findings provide possible pathways for the occurrence of compounds rich in C, O, and H, which are indeed observed in the cold regions of the universe such as ices in grain mantles of the interstellar medium and circumstellar envelopes.

Abstract: International audience; This paper proposes an architecture for sharing IoT Objects' resources in the Internet of Things providing a model for its owners to expose devices, which can be consumed by clients inspired by the Sensor-as-a-Service model. The main idea relies on the fact that users, such as developers and researchers, do not always have access to the necessary hardware and resources. Exposing devices in IoT should impact these persons activities. Then, we present the Resource Management Architecture, where several IoT Objects endowed with sensors and actuators can be added to environments that are represented virtually in the architecture. The IoT Objects become available to be consumed by users through the use of applications. The architecture is composed of three layers: one representing devices, the cloud solution, and applications, and how they interact with each other. We also present a study case for testing the whole approach in a smart city scenario.

Relationships specify how media items are dynamically arranged in time and space during runtime. Although a declarative approach usually facilitates the authoring task, authors can still make mistakes due to incorrect use of language constructs or inconsistent or missing relationships in a document. In order to properly support multimedia application authoring, it is important to provide tools with validation capabilities. Document validation can indicate possible inconsistencies in a given document to an author so that it can be revised before deployment. Although very useful, multimedia validation tools are not often provided by authoring tools. This work proposes a multimedia validation approach that relies on a formal model called Simple Hypermedia Model ( SHM ). SHM is used for representing a document for the purpose of validation. An SHM document is validated using a hybrid approach based on two complementary techniques. The first one captures the document’s spatio-temporal layout in terms of its state throughout its execution by means of a rewrite theory, and validation is performed through model-checking . The second one captures the document’s layout in terms of intervals and event occurrences by means of Satisfiability Modulo Theories (SMT) formulas, and validation is performed through SMT solving. Due to different characteristics of both approaches, each validation technique complements the other in terms of expressiveness of SHM and tests to be checked. We briefly present validation tools that use our approach. They were evaluated with real NCL documents and by usability tests.

Abstract: International audience; The problem of discovering spatiotemporal sequential patterns affects a broad range of applications. Many initiatives find sequences constrained by space and time. This paper addresses an appealing new challenge for this domain: find tight space-time sequences, i.e., find within the same process: i) frequent sequences constrained in space and time that may not be frequent in the entire dataset and ii) the time interval and space range where these sequences are frequent. The discovery of such patterns along with their constraints may lead to extract valuable knowledge that can remain hidden using traditional methods since their support is extremely low over the entire dataset. We introduce a new Spatio-Temporal Sequence Miner (ST SM) algorithm to discover tight space-time sequences. We evaluate ST SM using a proof of concept use case. When compared with general spatial-time sequence mining algorithms (GST SM), ST SM allows for new insights by detecting maximal space-time areas where each pattern is frequent. To the best of our knowledge, this is the first solution to tackle the problem of identifying tight space-time sequences.

In this context, the SciDISC project addresses the grand challenge of scientific data analysis using DISC, by developing architectures and methods to combine simulation and data analysis. SciDISC is an ongoing project between Inria, several research institutions in Rio de Janeiro and NYU. This paper introduces the motivations and objectives of the project, and reports on the first results achieved so far.

Abstract: International audience; A geometrical pattern is a set of points with all pairwise distances (or, more generally, relative distances) specified. Finding matches to such patterns has applications to spatial data in seismic, astronomical, and transportation contexts. Finding geometric patterns is a challenging problem as the potential number of sets of elements that compose shapes is exponentially large in the size of the dataset and the pattern. In this paper, we propose algorithms to find patterns in large data applications. Our methods combine quadtrees, matrix multiplication, and bucket join processing to discover sets of points that match a geometric pattern within some additive factor on the pairwise distances. Our distributed experiments show that the choice of composition algorithm (matrix multiplication or nested loops) depends on the freedom introduced in the query geometry through the distance additive factor. Three clearly identified blocks of threshold values guide the choice of the best composition algorithm.; Um padra ̃o geome ́trico e ́ definido por um conjunto de pontos e todos os pares de distaˆncias entre estes pontos. In many situations, these workflows are intensive, either computationally or in relation to data management, requiring execution in high-performance processing environments. However, parallelizing the execution of workflows commonly requires laborious programming, in an ad hoc manner and in a low level of abstraction, which makes it difficult to explore optimization opportunities. Abstract: International audience; The growth of urban population and, consequently, the number ofvehicles causes the increase of traffic jams and emission of polluting gases. Inthis context, we observe the intensification of papers that aim to identify bottle-necks and their causes. These papers propose methodologies that use trajectorydata model and aim to explain systemic behaviors. This article proposes theidentification and classification of anomalies in the urban road transport systemfrom space-time aggregations to permanent objects. The methodology consistsof pre-processing of data, identification of anomalies, identification, and clas-sification of frequent patterns. Through it, we can identify the systemic andspecific behaviors on the urban transit of Rio de Janeiro.; O crescimento da populac¸ ˜ao urbana e, consequentemente, do n´umerode ve´ıculos provoca o aumento de engarrafamentos e da emiss˜ao de ga-ses poluentes. Nesse contexto, observa-se a intensificac¸ ˜ao de pesquisasque buscam identificar engarrafamentos e suas causas. Estas pesquisasprop˜oem metodologias que usam modelo de dados de trajet´oria e visam ex-plicar comportamentos sistˆemicos. Given this set P, consider the following three kinds of queries against a database D of points : (i) pure constellation query: find all sets S in D of size |P| that exactly match the pairwise distances within P up to an additive error ϵ; (ii) isotropic constellation queries: find all sets S in D of size |P| such that there exists some scale factor f for which the distances between pairs in S exactly match f times the distances between corresponding pairs of P up to an additive ϵ; (iii) non-isotropic constellation queries: find all sets S in D of size |P| such that there exists some scale factor f and for at least some pairs of points, a maximum stretch factor m i, j > 1 such that (f × m i, j ×dist(pi, pj))+ϵ > dist(si,sj) >(f × dist(pi, pj))-ϵ. Finding matches to such queries has applications to spatial data in astronomical, seismic, and any domain in which (approximate, scale-independent) geometrical matching is required. Answering the isotropic and non-isotropic queries is challenging because scale factors and stretch factors may take any of an infinite number of values. This paper proposes practically efficient sequential and distributed algorithms for pure, isotropic, and non-isotropic constellation queries. As far as we know, this is the first work to address isotropic and non-isotropic queries.

Abstract: An $(r, \ell)$-partition of a graph $G$ is a partition of its vertex set into $r$ independent sets and $\ell$ cliques. A graph is $(r, \ell)$ if it admits an $(r, \ell)$-partition. A graph is well-covered if every maximal independent set is also maximum. A graph is $(r,\ell)$-well-covered if it is both $(r,\ell)$ and well-covered. In this paper we consider two different decision problems. In the $(r,\ell)$-Well-Covered Graph problem ($(r,\ell)$WCG for short), we are given a graph $G$, and the question is whether $G$ is an $(r,\ell)$-well-covered graph. In the Well-Covered $(r,\ell)$-Graph problem (WC$(r,\ell)$G for short), we are given an $(r,\ell)$-graph $G$ together with an $(r,\ell)$-partition of $V(G)$ into $r$ independent sets and $\ell$ cliques, and the question is whether $G$ is well-covered. We classify most of these problems into P, coNP-complete, NP-complete, NP-hard, or coNP-hard. Only the cases WC$(r,0)$G for $r\geq 3$ remain open. In addition, we consider the parameterized complexity of these problems for several choices of parameters, such as the size $\alpha$ of a maximum independent set of the input graph, its neighborhood diversity, its clique-width, or the number $\ell$ of cliques in an $(r, \ell)$-partition. In particular, we show that the parameterized problem of deciding whether a general graph is well-covered parameterized by $\alpha$ can be reduced to the WC$(0,\ell)$G problem parameterized by $\ell$. Abstract: International audience; We have investigated the electronic transport and the anisotropic magnetoresistance in systems consisting of pairs of antiferromagnetically aligned layers separated by a non-magnetic layer, across which an antiferromagnetic coupling between the double layers is established. Calculations have been performed within the framework of the tight-binding model, taking into account the exchange coupling within the ferromagnetic layers and the Rashba spin–orbit interaction. Conductivities have been evaluated in the ballistic regime, based on Kubo formula. We have systematically studied the dependence of the conductivity and of the anisotropic magnetoresistance on several material and structural parameters, such as the orientation of the magnetic moments relative to the crystalline axis, band filling, out-of-plane hopping and spin–orbit parameter.

Abstract: Methane (CH4) ice is found in the interstellar medium and in several bodies of the Solar system, where it is commonly exposed to cosmic rays and stellar winds. The chemical, physical and structural effects induced by fast heavy ions in thin layers of pure CH4 ices at 15 K are analysed by mid-infrared spectroscopy (Fourier transform infrared). Different pure CH4 ice samples were irradiated with 6 MeV 16 O 2 + , 220 MeV 16 O 7 + , 267 MeV 56 Fe 22 + and 606 MeV 70 Zn 26 + ions at Grand Acc´´ National d’Ions Lourds/France. Results show that CnHm molecules, where n = 2–4 and m = 2(n − 1) to 2(n + 1) and radical species CH3 ,C 2H3 and C2H5 are formed. The destruction cross-sections of CH4 ice and the formation cross-sections of new molecules CnHm are reported. The extrapolation of current results allow us to estimate the half lives of CH4 ices in the interstellar medium and the Solar system (Earth orbit) as about 600 × 10 6 and 600 yr, respectively. Abstract: International audience; The radiolysis of pure N2O ice at 11 and 75 K by 90 MeV 136Xe23 + ion irradiation has been studied by Fourier-transformed infrared spectroscopy (FTIR). Six daughter molecular species have been observed: NO2, (NO)2, N2O3, N2O4, N2O5, and O3. The chemical evolution of the new molecules formed in the sample was followed by the measurement of the column densities of the precursor and products as a function of the beam fluence. This procedure allows the determination of their formation and dissociation cross-sections. Other processes monitored by FTIR were sublimation (non-existent at 11 K, but present at 75 K) and ice compaction by the ion beam. Comparison between results obtained for the 11 and 75 K ices shows that formation and destruction cross-sections are higher (for light products) or much higher (for heavy products) at 75 K. This enhancement of chemical activity at higher temperature should not be attributed to higher projectile ionization rate but rather to a higher mobility of the radiolysis products in an ice undergoing slow sublimation. Although N2O ice has not yet been observed in space, it is reasonable to expect its occurrence since N and O are very abundant and reactive. Furthermore, if this ice is actually absent, the knowledge of the chemical–physical processes induced by ion irradiation on N2O ice at low temperature is necessary to explain its depletion.

Abstract: In dense and cold regions of the interstellar medium (ISM), molecules may be adsorbed onto dust grains to form the ice mantles. Once formed, they can be processed by ionizing radiation coming from stellar or interstellar medium leading to formation of several new molecules in the ice. Among the different kind of ionizing radiation, cosmic rays play an important role in the solid-phase chemistry because of the large amount of energy deposited in the ices. The physicochemical changes induced by the energetic processing of astrophysical ices are recorded in a intrinsic parameter of the matter called complex refractive index (CRI). In this paper, we present for the first time a catalogue containing 39 complex refractive indices (n, k) in the infrared from 2.0 - 16.6 micrometer for 13 different water-containing ices processed in laboratory by cosmic ray analogs. The calculation was done by using the NKABS (acronym of determination of N and K from ABSorbance data) code, which employs the Lambert-Beer and Kramers-Kronig equations to calculate the values of n and k. The results are also available at the website: http://www1.univap.br/gaa/nkabs-database/data.htm. As test case, a H2O:NH3:CO2:CH4 ice was employed in a radiative transfer simulation of a prototoplanetary disk to show that these data are indispensable to reproduce the spectrum of YSOs containing ices.

Abstract: International audience; This paper presents the geochemical data distribution of Cr, Cd, Cu, Co, Ni, Pb, Zn and Ba heavy metals in Vereda soils, located in the Rio Formoso basin, using a sampling network of vertical profiles, in order to assess the current condition of these environments. Considering that it comes to areas located near agroforestry activities, these elements were selected because they are present in pesticides and fertilizers and represents the major sources of contamination. The heavy metal content found in soils requires attention considering that many of them are beyond the limits of prevention set by CONAMA Resolution 420/2009. Geo-accumulation Index and Contamination Factor calculations revealed that these Veredas have high soil contamination by metals, particularly with Ni, Zn and Ba. Thus, the implementation mechanisms are necessary conducive to the protection of these environments as they are important to the region. It is suggested to create protected areas of sustainable use modality, specifically areas of ecological interest for the protection of Veredas, this being considered strategic to the conservation of soil and water.

Abstract: A recent study of soft X-ray absorption in native and hydrogenated coronene cations, C$_{24}$H$_{12+m}^+$ $m=0-7$, led to the conclusion that additional hydrogen atoms protect (interstellar) Polycyclic Aromatic Hydrocarbon (PAH) molecules from fragmentation [Reitsma et al., Phys. Rev. Lett. 113, 053002 (2014)]. The present experiment with collisions between fast (30-200 eV) He atoms and pyrene (C$_{16}$H$_{10+m}^+$, $m=0$, 6, and 16) and simulations without reference to the excitation method suggests the opposite. We find that the absolute carbon-backbone fragmentation cross section does not decrease but increases with the degree of hydrogenation for pyrene molecules., 10 pages, 5 figures

Abstract: International audience; The radiolysis of a mixture of acetone and nitrogen condensed at 13 K by 40-MeV 58Ni11 + ions was studied. The bombardment with heavy ions is highly efficient for inducing chemical reactions in ices. The disso-ciation rate of acetone mixed with nitrogen as a function of the fluence is determined from a sequence of infrared spectra. The formation of new molecular species due to the irradiation is investigated and their cross-sections are calculated.

Abstract: Analysis of Algorithms, Flood-it is a combinatorial game played on a colored graph G whose aim is to make the graph monochromatic using the minimum number of flooding moves, relatively to a fixed pivot. Free-Flood-it is a variant where the pivot can be freely chosen for each move of the game. The standard versions of Flood-it and Free-Flood-it are played on m ×n grids. In this paper we analyze the behavior of these games when played on other classes of graphs, such as d-boards, powers of cycles and circular grids. We describe polynomial time algorithms to play Flood-it on C2n (the second power of a cycle on n vertices), 2 ×n circular grids, and some types of d-boards (grids with a monochromatic column). We also show that Free-Flood-it is NP-hard on C2n and 2 ×n circular grids.

Abstract: International audience; Super duplex stainless steel presents a biphasic structure composed by ferrite and austenite with different characteristics and properties. In the micromilling process the cutting edge radius has similar dimensions to the grain size. The biphasic structure found in this material could influence on the cutting tool life and the surface integrity of the workpiece. Due to its low machinability, caused by high hardening level and low thermal conductivity, the process can produce built-up edge and high surface roughness (Ra). In this work it is performed an experimental study of the micromilling of super duplex UNS 32750 and the influence of the cutting speed (Vc) and feed per tooth (fz) on the surface integrity and tool wear. The design of experiments considered two levels and three replicates. Results indicate the increase of roughness for bigger feed per tooth, small influence of the cutting parameters on the burr formation. The tool presented flank wear after the experiments.

Abstract: International audience; Non-smooth systems are employed to model different cutting processes including milling and oil drilling. This article deals with the modeling of the micro-end-milling dynamics with inhomogeneous materials. The model considers a non-smooth system composed of a primary system that represents the tool and a secondary system, representing the workpiece. This system mimics micro-end-milling dynamics considering a progressive motion of the tool holder with tool run-out. The relative position of the tool holder and the chip is evaluated avoiding huge displacements of the tool tip when the tool is not in cutting. The simplified dynamics presented in this article is used as a methodology to calculate the cutting force and tool performance from the prescribed trajectory. The inhomogeneity is related to the description of the micro-machining process where material properties cannot be considered as constant due to grain structure as the tool moves for cutting. Numerical simulations consider a situation where the grain workpiece has austenitic, ferritic or ferritic-austenitic phases. Microscopic analysis is employed to obtain the property variations. The main goal is to establish a qualitative comprehension of the system dynamics comparing results with homogeneous material cutting process.

Abstract: International audience; This work studies the effect of heat treatment and cutting velocities on machining cutting forces in turning of a Cu-11.8%Al-0.55%Be shape memory alloys. The heat treatment was performed to obtain samples with austenite and martensite microstructures. Cutting force was investigated using a 3-component dynamometer in several revolutions and data were analyzed using statistic tools. It was found that the resultant forces were higher in quenched alloy due to the presence of Shape Memory Effect. Chip formation occurred in a shorter time in the sample without the Shape Memory Effect.

Abstract: We studied the effects produced by the interaction of heavy ion cosmic rays with interstellar and cometary organic molecules in the solid phase. Formic acid (HCOOH) ice at 15 K was irradiated by 267-MeV 56Fe22+ ions and the chemical evolution was analysed using Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy. The destruction cross-section of HCOOH and the formation cross-sections of the produced molecular species have been determined; the sputtering yield values are also discussed. The most abundant chemical species formed by Fe ion irradiation are CO, CO2 and H2O. The half-life of frozen formic acid molecules in the interstellar medium, as a result of interaction with the different cosmic ray constituents, is evaluated to be 108 yr, considering that the destruction cross-section σ d of heavy ions is ruled by a power law as a function of the electronic stopping power Se (i.e. σd ∼ S3/2 e ). Moreover, a complementary study based on mass spectrometry data from the literature has been performed, in order to understand the HCOOH molecule radiolysis, the desorption of its product and the chemical reaction pathways in ice.

49. ANALISE DE FORÇAS NO FRESAMENTO DE ROSCAS API

Abstract: International audience; Resumo: O fresamento de roscas permite uma alta velocidade de corte, ao contrário do macho de roscar, que ainda requer uma inversão da rotação do eixo da máquina, e permite a produção de diferentes diâmetros com a mesma ferramenta. Embora seja um processo de rosqueamento vantajoso, não foram encontrados estudos realizados para a fabricação de rosca tipo API, muito utilizada no setor de petróleo. Neste estudo foi utilizada uma ferramenta de metal duro fixada em um suporte adaptado ao centro de usinagem. A trajetória helicoidal cônica, necessária ao fresamento da rosca API, foi programada para a fabricação da peça. São avaliadas as forças de usinagem com diferentes avanços, e é realizado um planejamento experimental. O estudo avaliou as componentes de flexão e torção que a ferramenta está sujeita em relação à superfície da peça e ainda o módulo da força resultante. Mostrou-se que não houve variação significativa da força radial e que a variação das forças tangenciais e resultante foram resultado direto do aumento da área do cavaco, sem outras influências aparentes.

Abstract: International audience; This work aims to study the machining cutting forces acquired during dry turning with different cutting parameters in quenched and not quenched sample. Three workpiece materials are used in this study:Cu-11.8%Al-0.60%Be, Cu-11.8%Al-0.55%Be and Cu-11.8%Al-0.55%Be-0.50%Nb-0.27%Ni. The heat treatment was carried out in orderto obtain samples with DO3 and/or martensitic structures. The cutting forces were measured with a 3-component dynamometer and it was extracted ten sequential revolutions for each tested sample. For each alloy tested, three replicates were performed with quenched workpieces and three samples without heat treatment. It was found out that the resultant forces were higher in tempered alloys due to the presence of the shape memory effect. Among these, the resulting forces were higher for samples with lower percentage of Be. However, for the additional Nb alloys were obtained the lower resultant forces.
