Designed to provide entry level apprentice skills to persons who wish to become skilled, specialist level workers as dental assistants, these course materials supplement laboratory or on-the-job learning situations. One of a number of military-developed curriculum packages selected for adaptation to civilian vocational curriculum and instruction, the course contains a considerable amount of review material and is stated to be suitable for beginning students with background in the basic sciences. The course presented is one of three in a program based on the following educational goals for each student: (1) comprehend the principles of effective communication; (2) know some of the factors that enter into international relations, elements of national policy, and the employment of military force in achieving objectives over a broad range of circumstances; and (3) comprehend the concepts and techniques suitable for the effective management of material and human resources. This volume of student materials for a secondary/post-secondary level course in food service/baking comprises one of a number of military-developed curriculum packages selected for adaptation to vocational instruction and curriculum development in a civilian setting. The purpose stated for the individualized, self-paced course is to assist the apprentice (semi-skilled) baker in his/her duties as assistant to the baker. The course is recommended for use in providing supplemental study for students in baking or food services programs. Four chapters cover these topics: safety (accident and fire prevention, shop and electrical safety), sanitation and personal hygiene (food service standards, communicable diseases, disease control measures, cleaning agents, insect and rodent control, sanitizing supplies, storage of cleaning supplies), baking fundamentals and production of pastry (baking terms, function of baking ingredients, cakes, cookies, pie dough and filling, yeast dough), and Air Force Supply discipline (procedures for inspecting food supplies and storing foods). Each chapter is organized around criterion learning objectives that are accompanied by reading assignments and criterion test items with answers. This correspondence course is designed for self-study to help military personnel to attain the rating of weather specialist. The course is organized in three volumes. The first volume, containing seven chapters, covers background knowledge, meteorology, and climatology. In the second volume, which also contains seven chapters, surface observations, radar, and satellite use are presented. The final volume, in five chapters, covers weather codes, communications, analysis, and forecasting. The volumes contain learning objectives, information and analysis, and exercises. This course, adapted from military curriculum materials for use in vocational and technical education, was designed to upgrade an apprentice weather observer to the weather observer specialist level. Intended to be used in a laboratory or on-the-job learning situation, it contains both basic information needed for review and supervisory information. The course is divided into four volumes with accompanying student workbooks. Volume 1 on unit operations, equipment, and special topics contains two chapters covering meteorology, mathematics, and weather station equipment; while the second volume on surface weather observations and station operations contains two chapters covering observations as well as encoding and disseminating surface observations, with practice charts attached. In the third volume on weather plotting and communications, three chapters cover plotting weather charts, weather communications, as well as editing and electronic data processing. A supplemental volume of charts accompanies the volume. The final volume on upper air observations and tactical stations contains three chapters discussing pilot balloon observations, Rawinsonde Observations, and Rocketsonde and Dropsonde Observations. Each chapter contains objectives. readings, exercises, and answers for student self-study and evaluation. Volume review exercises (without answers) are available. This course is intended to train Air Force personnel to become electronic computer and switching systems specialists. One part of the course consists of a three-volume career development course. Topics are maintenance orientation (15 hours), electronic principles and digital techniques (87 hours), and systems maintenance (51 hours). Each volume provides both theoretical and factual information, exercises, and answers for exercises. Volume review exercises accompany each volume. The second volume contains a review and discussion of electrical and advanced electronic principles applicable to television repair. This airframe repairman course comprises the self-study portion of an on-the-job training program. It deals with the job-related knowledge requirements for airframe repairs that are required to progress from the 3 to 5 skill level of the career field. It contains five volumes. Volume 1 (27 hours) covers the general subjects related to the operation of an airframe repair shop. Subjects such as career progression, security, publications, supply, supervision and training, maintenance management, and safety are covered. Volume 2 (54 hours) discusses the fundamentals of metal working. Volume 3 (27 hours) covers the basic repair procedures. Volume 4 (27 hours) advances the discussion into the various fastening methods, and volume 5 (42 hours) deals with the specialized repairs related to airframe repair. Subject matter is developed by a series of learning objectives which set learning goals. The text that follows each objective gives the information needed to reach that goal.
