Competent teachers are attributed to student performance, school effectiveness, and the efficiency of an entire education system. Hence, this study compares the respondents' teaching proficiency across their profiles and correlates to their academic performance. The study utilized 30 pre-service secondary teachers of Eastern Samar State University Salcedo selected by complete enumeration, a descriptive comparative and correlational research design, and a questionnaire. Frequency, percentage, mean, and standard deviation were applied for descriptive analysis; t-test for comparison of respondents' teaching proficiency; and Pearson's correlation coefficient for the relationship between academic performance and teaching proficiency. The study revealed that respondents had a proficient teaching proficiency. Specifically, they were proficient in subject matter knowledge, lesson planning, classroom management, instructional strategies and motivation, communication skills, questioning skills, and professionalism. They have a very good academic performance in both professional education and major field of specialization. Furthermore, the study found no significant difference in the teaching proficiency across the respondents' sex and age. However, a significant relationship was found between academic performance and teaching proficiency. Based on the findings, it is recommended that remedial classes on contents, pedagogies, and principles be provided especially for those respondents with low academic performance, to improve their teaching proficiency.

Purpose: Given the research gaps identified in a literature review, this study aims to uncover how the intensity of learners' motivational behavior and its predictors vary with grade level. Methodology: A large-scale survey was conducted to examine motivational behavior and its predictors among EFL learners across three education levels and ten grades in Taiwan: primary school (Grades 3 to 6), junior high school (Grades 7 to 9), and senior high school (Grades 10 to 12). A total of 12,441 valid cases were collected from both rural and urban areas in Taiwan. ANOVA and multiple regression analysis were used to analyze the data. Findings: The results showed a significant effect of grade level on the intensity of motivational behavior. Specifically, learners' intensity of motivational behavior tended to decline with grade level (years of study). The significant predictors of motivational behavior also differed with grade level. Significance: In addition to theoretical and methodological contributions to L2 motivation research, this study can enhance understanding of factors that could enhance learners' motivational behavior and offer implications to assist EFL teachers in developing motivational teaching strategies.

In recent years, environmental problems have been increasing rapidly around the world and affecting a wide range of environments. Many campaigns are carried out to raise awareness about environmental problems. This study aims to determine the ideas of students at different education levels about environmental problems and to compare these ideas with each other according to their fields. The survey model was used as the research method. The study group of the research consists of a total of 298 students: 75 at the 4th grade level of primary school, 90 at the 7th grade level of secondary school, 56 at the 11th grade level of high school, and 68 at the 3rd and 4th grade level of the university. The "Environmental Problems Opinion Survey", consisting of four open-ended questions, for which validity studies were conducted, was applied to the study group. The descriptive analysis method was used to analyze the data. Environmental pollution is seen as the most important environmental problem at all levels of education. While the answer to the most important cause of environmental problems is littering at the primary school level, it is shown that people act unconsciously on environmental issues at other levels of education. While the answer to the question about your most frequent behavior to prevent environmental problems was "I throw away the garbage" at the primary school, high school and university levels, the answer to the question "I throw the garbage away" was encountered at the secondary school level. Finally, it was suggested that awareness-raising activities be held at all education levels regarding the solution of environmental problems. Although technology has been seamlessly integrated into classroom teaching, there is room for improvement in the way professional development is implemented. The aim of this study was to explore the experiences of Thai teachers of English as a Foreign Language (EFL) in implementing digital literacy training. Focusing on technologically illiterate teachers (and particularly older ones), the study aimed to investigate the production of online videos by these teachers to be used in their classrooms. The study was conducted in Trang, Thailand, and involved 36 Thai EFL teachers who underwent a one-month training programme in 2020. Data was collected through a questionnaire, observation, and interviews. The results showed that the participants required additional training time, and faced challenges such as teaching style, computer specifications, and Internet accessibility. Despite these challenges, the teachers reported a positive perceptions of teaching English with technology, and found it was easier than they had anticipated. These findings have pedagogical implications for future implementations of digital literacy training for somewhat technologically illiterate language teachers.

During the pandemic period, there have been such upheavals from production methods to distribution strategies, and from supply methods to corporate functioning. Accordingly, it would not be wrong to say that all companies and sectors, regardless of national or international, are part of this fundamental transformation. When the education sector was evaluated from the same perspective, it is possible to say that it is one of the sectors most affected by the differences created by this pandemic. For instance, very soon after the pandemic, almost all higher education institutions switched to distance education activities instead of face-to-face education. This study aims to examine the effects of the devastation caused by the pandemic on students at the higher education level in the context of efficiency. In this research, the criteria has been set as which university students' efficiency was achieved during the distance education process, and the research included 1604 participants from 15 universities, who formed the study's sample. The data obtained was subjected to reliability and validity analysis, and it was by using the SPSS program, and the results were examined with different dimensions.

Although there is increased interest in social and emotional competence and mental health in Croatia, there are currently limited measurement options available for early childhood settings. Thus, the SSIS SEL Brief Scales (SSIS SELb), an efficient measure of social and emotional learning competencies developed in the United States, was translated to Croatian and used by 49 early childhood educators to rate a sample of 685 children (average age 4.3 years) from several counties in Croatia. Regarding measurement invariance, the final model cohered substantially with a CASEL-inspired framework. Overall reliability was also high especially for the SEL Composite ([alpha] = 0.94), with notably lower reliability for subscales. Regarding cross-group concurrent validity, concurrent coefficients were largely similar across age and gender, but there were regional differences in validity. Likewise, validity correlations were in line with expectations, with moderate relationships observed between the SSIS SEL Composite and Child and Youth Resilience Measure scores. In sum, the high level of reliability provided a foundation for applied and research usage of the Croatian SSIS SELb, although further validation research will continue to be necessary before widescale implementation. Limitations to the study are discussed and also point to needed additional research before utilizing the Croatian translated SSIS SELb for applied decisions with young children.

Perceived life satisfaction during the period of childhood and adolescence can be considered a reliable measure of psychological and emotional growth of children and adolescents. The current study aimed to investigate age differences related to social support provided to students (by teachers, classmates, parents and close friends), and its relationship with school and life satisfaction. The study also examined the significance of social support in explaining students' school and life satisfaction. Data were collected from a sample comprising 390 primary school students in grades 3-8 in Croatia. The findings indicate that students perceive a lower level of support received from parents, teachers, classmates and close friends, and lower school and life satisfaction, as they age. Statistically significant differences were found in perceived teacher support and school and life satisfaction between younger and older students. Hierarchical regression analysis showed that age and support from teachers and classmates are significant predictors of school satisfaction. The most significant predictors of students' life satisfaction are support from parents and classmates, and school satisfaction. Finally, the implications of the findings and guidelines for future research are discussed.

Research on organizational trust and job satisfaction is an over-researched domain within organizational settings. However, whether such a connection extends to educational or language school contexts, has been scarcely investigated in education research. In this study, we report the connection between trust and job satisfaction among English teachers across private language schools and the extent to which age, gender, and experience moderate this relationship. The participants of the present study were selected from among the English teachers of several English schools in Urmia, Iran. We adopted two main questionnaires, namely, job satisfaction and interpersonal trust scales, to collect data. In this study, Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) was utilized to detect multi-group relationships among the variables. The findings yielded a positive association between English teachers' interpersonal trust and their job satisfaction and illustrated that age and experience moderated the relationship between the two variables. We found that teachers with a higher degree of interpersonal trust were more satisfied with their jobs. The findings warrant taking heed of language teachers' job satisfaction at language schools and creating an educational workplace with cooperation and trust among supervisors and teachers.

Failure to exercise self-control is one of the leading causes of substance and behavioral addictions. Problematic social media usage (PSMU), a type of behavioral addiction, has become an increasingly serious problem with a significant impact on the lives of individuals of all generations. Therefore, it is crucial to understand the underlying mechanism of PSMU to effectively address the issue. This study performed a meta-analysis, which systematically synthesized existing research in the field, to establish the current empirical state of the relationship between self-control and PSMU. The study included 57 independent samples that met the inclusion and exclusion criteria (N = 29.576). The analysis results indicated a moderate negative association between self-control and PSMU (r = -0.29). Furthermore, the moderator analysis outcomes suggested that the association between self-control and PSMU did not differ significantly based on variables such as developmental period, educational stage, geographic region, and publication status. The study's findings are expected to inspire future investigations and therapeutic approaches.

Potentially serving as the primary national literacy initiative, the Reading Seed Programme (RSP) by PUSTAKA Negeri Sarawak aims to enculturate a reading culture from an early age. For instance, RSP was invented to promote reading culture by having the pregnant mother read to their infant until the child was three years old. The process is vital to helping children learn to read from a young age and eventually empower them to be independent readers for life. Particularly, the objectives of RSP are to promote reading habits by getting parents to read to their children, strengthen a child's vocabulary, and develop their confidence, especially in reading. Thus, this paper is primarily designed to investigate the demographic differences between RSP participation and the programme's objectives, i.e., reading habits, parent's engagement, vocabulary ability, and confidence development. To assess how well the RSP achieved its goal of assisting toddlers in developing their confidence as readers. An online survey yielded 385 completed responses, representing a 92.33% response rate among RSP participants. The key findings indicated that the age of the child, mode of joining the programme, and year received the RSP's kits are the most important indicators of the usefulness of the programme (RSP and RSP's kits) and the programme's objectives attainment, especially in straightening the child's vocabulary and comprehension and developing their confidence, especially in reading and knowledge. Nonetheless, the results of this study highlighted the novelty of the early literacy programme of the RSP in cultivating the reading culture, parent-child engagement in reading, and preparing children to acquire knowledge.

The inability to directly communicate mathematical content through various representations of concepts presented a significant challenge after the shift from face-to-face teaching to distance mathematics education in Serbia. Some mathematics teachers attempted to overcome this gap by using a pen tablet during mathematics classes. The aim of this research is to determine the attitudes of upper-grade elementary and high school students about whether the meaningful use of a pen tablet by teachers contributes to the quality of distance mathematics education. The examined sample included 202 students from upper elementary and high school. The research results indicate that students are indeed aware of the benefits of teachers using a pen tablet to achieve learning outcomes. In most specific statements, there are no significant differences in the attitudes of elementary and high school students, as well as differences in attitudes in relation to gender. Specifically, girls, to a greater extent than boys, agree with the statement that the use of a pen tablet helped them better understand the teaching and learning contents, as well as that there are more benefits to using a pen tablet in classes that cover arithmetic (algebra) topics. On the other hand, high school students, to a greater extent than elementary school students, perceive the use of a pen tablet in math classes as more effective and consider it more helpful during learning in mathematics classes.

This study investigates the reasons behind pre-service and in-service teachers' decisions to use digital literacy tools in their teaching following the COVID-19 pandemic. The objective is to understand the factors influencing their choices and to identify areas where support and training are needed. Semi-structured interviews were conducted with eight teachers from a university demonstration school in Thailand, evenly divided between pre-service and in-service teachers. The Technology Acceptance Model (TAM) framework guided the creation and adaptation of the interview questions. The findings indicate that pre-service teachers prefer digital tools that are easy to use, accessible, and affordable, with features such as templates, multimedia, and engaging functionalities. In contrast, in-service teachers prioritize familiar tools that save time and enhance the quality of teaching materials. Both groups value tools that facilitate collaboration and ensure privacy. The study highlights the significant generational differences in technology adoption, with younger teachers showing a greater inclination towards exploring a variety of digital tools, while more experienced teachers tending to stick with familiar technologies due to time constraints and comfort levels. These insights underscore the necessity for ongoing, tailored professional development programs that address the specific needs of both pre-service and in-service teachers. Such programs should focus on enhancing digital literacy, providing practical examples of new tools' benefits, and fostering a supportive community for technology integration. By understanding these differences, educational institutions can better support teachers in integrating digital literacy tools effectively, thereby improving teaching practices and professional development opportunities. The implications of this study suggest that a one-size-fits-all approach to technology training may not be effective, and differentiated support is essential to cater to the diverse needs of educators.

English, as an international language of communication, plays a crucial role in the development of global economic exchanges. In China, where English serves as a second language, the improvement of college students' English language speaking proficiency faces numerous challenges due to the lack of authentic English communication environments. However, there has been a lack of in-depth research on the relationship between Chinese college students' English language speaking proficiency and factors such as school background. This study utilized multiple linear regression to analyze data from the 2021 China General Social Survey. It aimed to investigate the relationship between college students' English language speaking proficiency and various factors, including different types of high school experiences, parental educational backgrounds, gender differences, and age disparities. The findings revealed that college students who attended provincial-level and municipal-level key high schools demonstrated higher English language speaking proficiency. Additionally, paternal educational background had a more significant impact on the English language speaking proficiency of offspring compared to maternal educational background. Furthermore, female students exhibited higher English speaking proficiency levels than male students. Moreover, English speaking proficiency showed an inverted "U"-shaped trend with age, peaking at 22.5 years old. Based on the research results, recommendations were proposed to balance the educational resources of different types of high schools and to reform English teaching in universities. These suggestions aim to provide robust evidence for the formulation of educational policies to meet the growing demand for English learning in China.

Sports participation in adolescents may increase social self-efficacy and decrease social anxiety with time. Understanding the correlation between social self-efficacy and social anxiety may be useful for developing effective interventions for adolescents with social anxiety. The aim of this study is to examine the relationship between social self-efficacy and social anxiety in athlete and non-athlete adolescents through some variables. A moderate negative correlation was determined between the participants' social self-efficacy and social anxiety levels. It was seen that social self-efficacy and social anxiety levels did not differ statistically according to gender variable. According to the age variable, it was determined that the social self-efficacy level of 16-year-old participants was higher than 15-year-old participants. According to the athletic variable of the study, it was determined that the social self-efficacy level of athlete participants was higher than non-athletes. In the study, it was determined that social anxiety levels did not differ statistically according to athletic status. As a result, it can be said that high social self-efficacy decreases the level of social anxiety in adolescents. Social self-efficacy and social anxiety levels of adolescents do not vary according to gender. While 16 years old participants had higher social self-efficacy than 15 years old participants, their social anxiety levels did not differ according to 15 and 16 years of age. Social self-efficacy of athlete adolescents is higher than nonathletes. In addition, it can be said that there is no statistically significant correlation between participation to sport and social anxiety in adolescents.

The rapid development of information technologies in the century we live in has caused significant changes in the field of education. Today, in the information age, traditional reading models with printed materials such as books, newspapers, and magazines have been replaced by reading computers, mobile phones, presentations, and billboards. Thus, information is conveyed to students at all levels through tools such as computers, the Internet, CDs, videos, and printed materials during the education process. It has become necessary to understand the importance of this type of reading, screen reading, in the process of native language teaching and to use it effectively in practice. In this study, it was aimed to examine the Screen Reading Self-Efficacy Perceptions of Turkish Language and Literature and Turkish Teacher Candidates in terms of variables such as age, gender, income level, frequency of internet use, etc. The sample group of this study in the survey model consists of 379 Turkish Language and Literature and Turkish Language Teacher candidates studying at a university in the east of Turkey. The research data was collected with the screen reading self-efficacy perception scale (Ulu, 2018), which has three subcategories: understanding, page management, and eye health dimension. As a result of the research, it is seen that the Screen Reading Self-Efficacy Perceptions of Turkish Language and Literature and Turkish Teacher Candidates are generally in favor of screen reading. Additionally, as a result of the research, it was concluded that Turkish Language and Literature and Turkish Language Teacher candidates' gender and basic computer skills differ in their screen reading perceptions.

This paper examines secondary school students' perceptions of moral values in the digital environments (MVDE) and digital literacy (DL). The study used a quantitative methodology and correlational survey design encompassing 250 participants. Results show that participants' perceptions of DL are mostly high, while their perceptions of MVDE are mostly intermediate. Gender is not a source of significant difference in terms of either DL or MVDE. While grade is not a variable affecting DL, lower grades have statistically significant higher values in terms of MVDE. Participants who use social media have significantly higher DL scores, while the difference in MVDE is not significant in terms of the same variable. Like gender, online gaming is not a source of significant difference in terms of both DL and MVDE. Daily online time is not related to a significant difference in DL; however, those who are online for more than 3 hours daily have a significantly lower MVDE than those who spend less time online. Finally, results show that MVDE and DL are positively correlated at a moderate level, and MVDE explains 19.6% of DL. To conclude, MVDE should be fostered amongst individuals as it would help them become "better" citizens in the digital world, much like moral values do in real life.

The purpose of this research is to examine the professional commitment levels of special education teachers working in inclusive classes in the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC), according to different variables. This study used a relational survey model, which is a quantitative research method. A total of 130 special education teachers working in special education schools participated in this research during the 2021-2022 academic year. In the study, "Demographic Information Form" and "Teaching Professional Commitment Scale" were used as data collection tools. According to the findings obtained from the research, no significant differences were found in special education teachers' professional commitment according to age, gender, marital status, professional seniority, support from colleagues, and support from administrators. Significant differences were found in special education teachers' professional commitment according to educational status, job satisfaction, and wage satisfaction. According to the findings obtained as a result of the research, it has been revealed that special education teachers who are satisfied with their job are highly committed to their profession, self-sacrificing and devoted to their students.

This study aimed to validate a modified Statistics Anxiety Scale for students in the United States taking university courses. Modifications were made by changing the wording of several items to be consistent with American English, and to accommodate students taking statistics courses in various formats. Items were added to investigate anxiety toward the use of statistical packages, and peer mentoring. Data from 352 participants and exploratory factor analyses were used to analyze the original 24-item SAS (SAS-O) and a version of the SAS with six additional items (SAS-M). The three-factor structure for SAS-O was consistent with the original validation study, explaining about 64% of the items' variance. The factor structure for SAS-M contained an additional two factors, that explained a total of 68 % of the items' variance. The factors were internally consistent, correlated with one another, and negatively correlated with Wise's Attitude Toward Statistics scale. Male students generally had lower application anxiety and examination anxiety than female students, and lower asking for help anxiety than non-traditional students.

The lifelong learning strategy is one of the most significant strategies suggested for bringing up modern persons in the appropriate circumstances. This study attempts to identify, in terms of several characteristics, the lifelong learning tendencies of the Turkish language, literature, and Turkish teacher candidates. 297 students studying Turkish Language and Literature as well as Turkish Teacher Certification at a university in the east of Turkey make up the study's sample in the survey model. The Lifelong Learning Tendency Scale (Gür Erdoan & Arsan, 2016) was used to gather the research's data. The information gathered throughout the study was analyzed using four distinct methods, including frequency, percentage, t-test for independent groups, and Kruskal Wallis H test. The statistical software package SPSS for Windows 22.00 was used to analyze the data. The study's findings revealed that, when it comes to gender-related factors, female teacher candidates had stronger lifelong learning tendencies than male teacher candidates. It was discovered that teacher candidates who read books frequently--every day, every other day, and once a week--had better propensities for lifetime learning than those who read books just once a month. It was found that teacher candidates with stronger dispositions toward lifelong learning studied scientific/academic, personal development, adventure, novel/story, and literary genres. Additionally, it was discovered through the research that there was no significant difference in the lifelong learning tendencies of teacher candidates about factors like age, the department or major of science they studied in college, the grade level they studied in, family income level, the education levels of their mothers and fathers, and preferred reading model. In general, it was found that teacher applicants scored extremely well on the lifelong learning tendencies scale when it came to their responses regarding their degrees of willingness to learn and grow over time.

In an ever-changing world, we have been witnessing many developments in our lives. A way to keep up with these developments will be possible through necessary skills such as critical thinking. In the literature, art education is suggested specifically as a contributor for creative skill development and critical thinking skills. The objective of this study was to examine and evaluate students' critical thinking skills based on undergraduate subject area of study. Accordingly, students' critical thinking skills were examined within critical thinking sub-dimensions in addition to variables of gender, age, and year of study. The sample groups consisted of undergraduate freshman and senior students studying Art Education and History. The study was structured according to the relational screening model, and the "Cornell Critical Thinking Test Level Z" (CCTT-Z) was used to measure critical thinking skills. Results of the study revealed that, critical thinking skill levels of the students were low in both cohorts and there was no statistically significant difference according to study areas. The results also showed no meaningful difference in critical thinking skills of freshman and senior students within the group who are studying Art Education. Similarly, demographics such as gender and year of study made no particular difference in terms of students' critical thinking scores. The cohort of 25-30 age group showed a relatively positive difference in terms of age variable as compared to other cohorts. It was concluded that critical thinking skills could be supported by means of designing a curriculum that encourages and develops critical thinking skills and creative thinking through specific educational strategies.

The current study aimed to investigate Fear of Missing Out (FoMO) and Self-Esteem levels among 7th and 10th-grade students in private schools in Amman, Jordan. Additionally, the study aimed to explore the relationship between FoMO and self-esteem. The research also intended to examine differences in FoMO and self-esteem levels between male and female students and across different grade levels. The sample consisted of 590 students randomly selected from private schools in Amman for the academic year 2022/2023. To achieve the study's objectives, the researchers translated and utilized measures of FoMO and self-esteem. They verified the reliability and validity of these measures and administered them to the study sample. The study adopted a descriptive and correlational approach as the most appropriate, aiming to describe the levels of FoMO and self-esteem and reveal potential correlations between the two variables. The results indicated a low level of FoMO among students and a high level of self-esteem. A significant negative correlation was found between FoMO and self-esteem. There were also significant differences in FoMO and self-esteem levels across different grade levels, with 7th grade students scoring higher in all dimensions. However, there were no significant differences in FoMO and self-esteem levels between male and female students, except for the "need for fame" dimension. Statistically significant differences were observed in FoMO levels attributed to grade level, favoring seventh-grade students in all dimensions. No statistically significant differences were found according to gender variables, except in the "need for fame" dimension. Results showed no statistically significant differences in self-esteem related to gender, but there were significant differences in self-esteem related to grade level, favoring tenth-grade students. The mean self-esteem score for tenth-grade students was 3.16, while it was 3.05 for seventh-grade students.

The present study aimed to analyze the developmental trajectories of English achievement and exposure time through private education, utilizing univariate and multivariate latent growth curve analysis. This study used a subset of the Gyeonggi Education Panel Study data from 2012 to 2017. The results indicated consistent disparities in the growth of English achievement, depending on the student's proficiency levels at the starting point. In particular, the early exposure to private tutoring was significantly and closely related to the initial status and the growth trajectory of English achievement. When the sample was classified by urbanicity, the findings suggested that the gap in English achievement was likely to increase over time across the two regions, with a stronger correlation with private tutoring found in urban areas. These results underscore the need for educational intervention for students in less advantageous conditions, and they provide valuable pedagogical implications for teaching English in the Korean EFL context.

Redox reaction is a core chemical concept. However, its abstract nature makes it very difficult for students. Students' conceptual structure reflects their mastery of concepts, which helps teachers implement targeted educational strategies. This study aimed to explore the conceptual structures of redox reaction held by students (grades 10 to 12) by employing MDS and HCA. A total of 606 students participated, with 195 students in 10th grade, 202 in 11th grade, and 209 in 12th grade. The results indicated that three-dimensional solutions were appropriate for the conceptual structures of 10th and 12th graders, while 11th graders demonstrated two-dimensional solutions. All students grouped the 15 concepts related to redox reaction into two large clusters: metrology and the redox reaction process. Moreover, both 10th and 12th graders further subdivided the 15 concepts into four subclusters: metrology, oxidation process, reduction process, and chemical reaction. Students' conceptual structures were rational across all three grades. The conceptual structures of 10th and 12th graders were more refined than those of 11th graders, and there was no significant difference between the conceptual structures of 10th and 12th graders. 11th graders learned about electrochemistry and tended to confuse concepts related to redox reaction with those related to electrochemistry.

During the last decades, global interest in learning English as a foreign language has increased, encouraging countries to include it in school education. This trend was followed by the Chilean Ministry of Education, which suggests teaching English based on a communicative approach starting in early childhood education. To foster students' learning, it is imperative to acknowledge that children learn differently than older learners and that English as a foreign language teachers should be able to identify their needs and implement age-appropriate strategies. This article reports the action research findings that explore the contribution of board games, memory, and bingo on pre-kindergarten students' oral expression when participating in English lessons. A group of 19 children aged four from a private school in Concepción, Chile, took part in this study by playing online and board bingo, and memory games. Data were gathered by qualitative methods, such as an observation checklist, a semi-structured interview applied to thein co-teacher, and group interviews carried out with students at the end of the intervention. The group and semi-structured interview data were analyzed through the thematic data analysis technique, along with frequency data analysis used to process the observational checklists. The results show that students increased their English oral production when games were implemented in their lessons.

Developing algebraic thinking is a key factor in learning mathematics. Despite its importance, many students still struggle with algebraic concepts. This research investigates students' achievements in algebraic thinking using Demetriou's test across 7th (approximately 12-13 years old), 8th (approximately 13-14 years old), and 9th (approximately 14-15 years old) grades. The study analyzes performance in different levels of algebraic tasks (i.e., [1] extrapolation of relationships, [2] coordinating simple structures, [3] operating with undefined symbolic structures, and [4] coordination with undefined structures), revealing a significant developmental leap in algebraic abilities during the 9th grade. While no statistically significant differences were found in the first level, 9th grade students demonstrated superior performance in levels 2, 3, and 4, suggesting cognitive readiness for abstract algebraic concepts around the age of 14. The research unveils a disjointed development in algebraic abilities, indicating a progression from basic arithmetic operations to proportional reasoning before the full integration of algebraic thinking. Notably, tasks involving variables in the third level pose persistent challenges for students. The findings contribute to understanding the optimal age for introducing algebraic concepts and underscore the importance of considering cognitive development in mathematics education. The study proposes implications for educators, such as emphasizing proportional reasoning in earlier grades and employing differentiated instruction based on individual students' abilities.

To investigate students' interest in physics, this study explores the impact of a brief teaching intervention on the increase of interest. The intervention focused on modern physics, specifically exploring Einstein's theory of gravity and the dual nature of light. A total of 325 Greek students participated in the survey, comprising 83 students in the 6 th grade (11-12 years old), 116 students in the 9 th grade (14-15 years old), and 126 students in the 11th grade (16-17 years old). Participants completed a questionnaire, which helped determine the average level of interest before and after the teaching. The findings indicate that teaching modern physics concepts contributes to the development of students' interest. However, there is an observed decline in interest as the educational level advances, a pattern persisting despite the introduction of Einsteinian physics concepts.

This study aimed to identify the reality of the rehabilitation of people with intellectual disabilities and their employment from the point of view of their parents in the city of Mecca, where a questionnaire was designed as a tool for collecting data, and the sample of the study consisted of (142) parents of persons with intellectual disabilities enrolled in vocational rehabilitation programs in schools of intellectual education and institutes of intellectual education in the Holy City of Mecca, and were selected in a random way. The results of the study indicated that the reality of rehabilitation and employment of persons with intellectual disabilities came at a moderate level. The results showed that the obstacles to rehabilitation and employment came at a high level. The results also showed that there were no statistically significant differences ([alpha less than or equal to]0.05) in the following variables (gender, age, educational qualification), while there are statistically significant differences ([alpha less than or equal to]0.05) attributable to the variable (level of disability) where they appeared in favor of fragile syndrome in the level of reality of rehabilitation and employment, while in favor of Down syndrome in the obstacles that prevent rehabilitation and employment.

According to the PISA and TIMSS results, Kosovo is among the low-achieving countries in mathematics. Analyzing the factors that contribute to this situation is a local priority. This study focuses on secondary school students' beliefs and attributions related to the level of impact of four main groups of factors (student characteristics; teacher characteristics; school and classroom environment characteristics; and home environment characteristics) on achievements in mathematics. Respondents in the study were 410 students, randomly chosen from eight secondary schools in Prishtina. A Likert scale questionnaire was used for data collection. The reliability of the questionnaire was checked using Cronbach's alpha. The descriptive analysis was used to measure the students' answers according to the four subscales (groups of factors). To explore the effect of gender and the type of school attended on students' opinions, independent samples t-test was used, while one-way ANOVA served to explore the effect of success and age. Students believe that teacher characteristics are the most critical determinant for achievements in mathematics. According to students' opinions, the order of the impact of the groups of factors, ranked from highest to lowest, is teacher characteristics; student characteristics; school and classroom environment characteristics; home environment characteristics. The findings revealed no statistically significant effect of gender on students' opinions. There were some differences in students' opinions based on the type of school, age, and success. However, the effect size of the difference was considerable only in the case of the type of school attended regarding the influence of teacher characteristics.

Massive Open Online Courses (MOOCs) now offer a variety of options for everyone to obtain a high-quality education. The purpose of this study is to better understand the behaviours of MOOC learners and provide some insights for taking actions that benefit larger learner groups. Accordingly, 2,288,559 learners' behaviours on 174 MITx courses were analysed. The results show that MOOCs are more attractive to the elderly, male, and highly educated groups of learners. Learners' performance improves as they register for more courses and improve their skills and experiences on MOOCs. The findings suggest that, in the long run, learners' adaptation to MOOCs will significantly improve the potential benefits of the MOOCs. Hence, MOOCs should continue by better understanding their learners and providing alternative instructional designs by considering different learner groups. MOOC providers' decision-makers may take these findings into account when making operational decisions.

This longitudinal case study from a Complex Dynamic Systems Theory (CDST) perspective touches upon an under-researched issue: L1 development over the lifespan. Levinson (1978) predicts three stages in adulthood: early, mid and late, with a decline in late adulthood. We examine Diane Larsen-Freeman's publications over a period of 50 years (from age 27 to 77) and trace seven complexity measures--three lexical (density, sophistication and diversity) and four syntactic (mean length of sentence, finite verb ratio, dependent clause per T-unit and complex nominals per clause)--to investigate whether early, middle, and late stages in adulthood occur as predicted. After employing common CDST methods to find out if there are significant peaks or interactions among the variables over time, we used a Hidden Markov time-series analysis to locate moments of self-organization, suggesting a new stage of development. The HMM shows a clear phase shift between middle and late adulthood when the writer was 63. Her vocabulary became more diversified, but her sentences were shorter, but not less complex. Therefore, we argue that this shift should not be seen as a decline in complexity but a shift in style as more precise words may lessen the need for more words.

This article delves into the ongoing debate surrounding the role of age in second language acquisition, examining developments over the past three decades and highlighting contentious issues. We argue that the commonly held belief in age's pivotal role is frequently contradicted by empirical evidence. Additionally, we examine the agerelated debate with respect to foreign language teaching. A brief review is provided on advances in neuroscientific techniques, which show that the adult brain retains substantial plasticity for language learning, followed by a discussion of these findings in relation to lifelong language learning. Finally, we turn to Complex Dynamic Systems Theory, which offers a dynamic perspective that emphasizes the evolving interplay of age, context, and individual factors, pointing to the need for more qualitative research.

The present study explored the effects of interactionist Dynamic Assessment (DA) and age on the writing accuracy of IELTS candidates. This research investigated the existence of an interactional effect between the age of learners and the type of treatment they received. First, 140 IELTS candidates were split into two age groups, adult and young. Each group was divided into two equal smaller groups, randomly assigned to two types of DA. All four groups took a writing pre-test. After a nine-session treatment of interactionist DA in study groups and interventionist DA in control groups, all groups took a writing post-test. The data collected during the post-test were analyzed by two-way ANOVA and compared with the pre-test data. The findings showed that implementation of interactionist DA significantly improved the learners' writing accuracy while the learners' age had no significant effect on their writing accuracy. With respect to the study findings, EFL teachers could use interactionist DA to enhance the accuracy of learners' writing skills by providing more opportunities for the learners to interact.

There is growing concern about the influence of nomophobia among the majority of young people, attributed to excessive mobile phone use. This study aims to investigate the nomophobia levels of Azerbaijani and Kyrgyz university students. The Nomophobia Questionnaire (NMP-Q) was employed as the data collection tool. Data were collected from participants during the spring term of the 2021-2022 academic year. A total of 478 students participated: 238 from Azerbaijan and 240 from Kyrgyzstan. Results indicated that Azerbaijani and Kyrgyz students exhibit different nomophobia behaviors. While 36.1% of Azeri students experience a severe level of nomophobia, 23.3% of Kyrgyz students do. Female students in both countries are more affected than their male counterparts. Younger students are also more susceptible to nomophobia. Moreover, smartphone ownership significantly influences students' nomophobia behavior in both Azerbaijan and Kyrgyzstan.

While prior research has examined the connection between civic engagement and collectivist views, the present study considers to what extent years of education have been associated with more collectivistic views. This study analyzed data from the 2021 United States General Social Survey. Results suggested that more years of education was associated with believing that the government should do more for Black people and that the government should do move overall (in a scaled average of individualism/collectivism). Specific demographic factors were associated with more collectivist or individualistic views. Implications for program and policy development within higher education are considered.

Individuals need motivation in their work, this motivation makes individuals more efficient. Considering that music education is a long way, individuals become more successful with certain discipline and motivation, and the pleasure in the work done increases. This study was conducted to examine the musical motivation levels of prospective music teachers in Turkey. In this study, survey design, which is one of the quantitative research methods, was used. The sample group of the study consisted of 4th grade students by using the easily accessible case sampling method, which is one of the purposeful sampling methods. The first data collection tool is the "Personal Information Form" developed by the researcher to obtain the demographic characteristics of the students, and the second data collection tool is the "Motivation Scale" developed by Asmus in 1989 to measure the musical motivation of the students. Percentage, frequency and independent t-test analysis techniques were used in the analysis of the research data. According to the results of the research, it was seen that musical background affected motivation in the gender variable, while environmental factors and individual music interest in the family did not affect motivation. Regarding the age variable, it was found that musical background and environmental factors had no significant relationship with musical motivation, but individual musical interest in the family affected motivation.

Self-compassion is defined as a form of caring for yourself when facing various problems that occur in life and having the belief that failure, mistakes, suffering, and deficiencies are part of life. This article aims to explore the level of self-compassion, gender differences, age differences on the level of self-compassion of students with Javanese ethnic background. The research method used was a survey with a cross-sectional survey design involving 561 high school students consisting of 278 boys and 283 girls, selected using a random sampling technique. The research data collection instrument used the compassion scale. The data analysis techniques used were descriptive analysis, t-test and Anova test. The results of the study prove that high school students with a Javanese ethnic background have a level of self-compassion in the medium category and tend to be low. Furthermore, this study found that in terms of gender differences, male students had a lower level of self-compassion than female students. Judging from each indicator of self-compassion on gender, the indicators of kindness and common humanity have significant differences, while the indicators of mindfulness and indifference have insignificant differences. Furthermore, the age difference shows that there is no significant difference between students aged 14, 15, 16, 17 in the level of self-compassion, but the older they get, the higher the level of self-compassion that students have. Further discussion is discussed in this article.

This study investigates the effect of programming courses on the computational thinking (CT) skills of elementary school students and the learning effectiveness of students from different backgrounds who are studying programming. We designed a OwlSpace programming course into an elementary school curriculum. Students in fourth and fifth grades were taught the fundamentals of programming. We measured and analyzed the effectiveness of their CT skills and self-efficacy in CT. The researchers analyzed the changes in the CT of different gender, different grade, and different past experience students in programming courses and then made specific recommendations for information technology teachers and related units. The results demonstrate that students learned and improved their CT skills by taking OwlSpace programming course. Additionally, gender, grade, and past experience are found to have no impact on the students' learning that means the course can improve students ability without limited any characteristics.
