TWENTY-first century ,ACTING education ,ACADEMY Awards - Abstract
In this article, the author explores the direct links of the Russian acting and directing tradition to the Greek field as they were introduced through the Experimental Stage of the National Theatre of Greece (2001–07) and the Acting and Directing Workshop of the National Theatre (2001–2004). Both endeavours were under the auspices of the National Theatre, and were inspired, structured, and managed by Stathis Livathinos, who had studied at GITIS and aspired to create an ensemble that worked and experimented together. In this framework, Livathinos gathered a group of approximately 24 actors and 14 actors who aspired to become directors and introduced to them anew Stanislavsky's ideas and teaching as well as to the recent developments of the Russian directing and acting tradition. The Experimental Stage, during those 3 years, produced more than 10 productions, including a production of Medea in the theatre of Epidaurus. From the Workshop, which was, essentially, an MA educational programme, graduated around 15 actors and six directors – three of whom were women. This Workshop was the preamble of the National Theatre School of Directing established in 2018 by Livathinos, when he was General and Artistic Director of the National Theatre of Greece. Access to medical, pharmaceutical dentistry or midwifery studies has been opened to candidates who have not completed a first year in medical sciences since the decree of March 26, 1993 repealed and replaced by the decree of September 2, 2010. This "gateway" device relating to the procedures for direct admission to the second or third year of studies has been subject to various modifications until the decree of July 29, 2022. The regulatory framework provides for access to this device by holders according to their initial training. Among them is the Master's degree. Thus, psychologists (necessarily holders of a Master's degree) are eligible for these systems allowing integration into medical studies. Psychologists can thus consider the prospect of a medical career by resuming their studies in the middle or at the end of their first university cycle. In this interview with Jean-Pierre Bouchard, psychologists Sarah Thierrée, Josué Masson and Théo Lemonnier discuss their experiences. They present the device, the contributions, the limits, as well as the difficulties and satisfactions they may have encountered during their experience. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Central preoccupations of Stanislavsky's theatre practice and thought involve continuous laboratory explorations, revisions and developments. What emerges as new at one time is constantly renewed, indicating that his work of perpetual change raises the question as to what actually were the defining achievements of the Opera-Dramatic Studio. This was the last of the seven studios that Stanislavsky founded and led, or encouraged and protected under the flagship of the Moscow Art Theatre as he taught to varying degrees in each. The discussion here rejects the commonplace idea that Stanislavsky discovered the "method of physical action" in the closing years of his life, showing earlier avatars of "physical action" while unfolding its different but interconnected aspects, including "word action." Stanislavsky's comprehensive approach to acting together with his intensive research on the actor-singer, music, movement, vocalization and other components that bind opera and dramatic theatre gave the Opera-Dramatic Studio its unique identity. 7. The French Piano School's Pedagogical Influence on Louis Moreau Gottschalk's Piano Etudes: A Narrative Inquiry

- Abstract
While many of Louis Moreau Gottschalk’s compositions for piano are highly regarded and figure prominently in recordings and recitals, pianists tend to overlook the composer’s etudes. The purpose of this study was to examine these neglected pieces and evaluate their contribution to the piano etude literature. A secondary focus was exploring the nature of Gottschalk’s lessons with Camille-Marie Stamaty in the French school of piano and comparing their traditional master-apprentice relationship with today’s teacher-student dynamic. This study employed a qualitative narrative inquiry research model, which updates the historical biography with renewed storytelling. To illustrate the importance of Gottschalk’s etudes, this researcher-pianist studied five of the eight etudes with a scholarly piano instructor who also contributed to the narrative inquiry. The project culminated with the researcher’s posted video performances of the etudes. Findings concluded that Gottschalk’s piano training in Paris and his distinctively American compositional voice combined to create notable study and performance pieces that deserve more teacher consideration when assigning literature. Moreover, the results affirmed Gottschalk as a pioneering American music figure who set the model for future American music students to train in Europe. Further, this project could encourage additional research using narrative inquiry, such as comparing Gottschalk’s ballades to those of Frédéric Chopin, contrasting the careers of Gottschalk and Camille Saint-Saëns, and profiling Gottschalk’s friendship and mentorship with Hector Berlioz.

To learn how to hear, to educate the ear, to develop a student’s sense of voicing and timbre in nuanced hearing – this is the first task of a pedagogue-musician, a defining pillar of his work.” These words of the great Russian musician, Grigory Kogan, shine light on the inspiring path of what it means for a teacher to simultaneously develop student’s ears and fingers with the aim of building the artistic image of a composition. Of course, such instruction requires a holistic approach and, yet some approaches from the past were anything but that. Indeed, the 19th century saw a rise in mechanical finger training, which often resulted in injuries and stultified the ear. This article analyzes these and other past trends in piano teaching and performance and their influence on the training of fingers, ears or both. In addition, it offers practical advice on how best to foster the simultaneous schooling of ears and fingers, with the goal of nurturing a complete musician. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

In this article, we are looking for ways of congruence between Konstantin Stanislavsky's Method of Active Analysis and Nikolai Demidov's School, theoretically observing similarities, while also concentrating on some major differences, such as the complete initial lack of given circumstances for études in Demidov or the inceptive use of improvised speech as opposed to the given text in Stanislavsky. During one of their last encounters, Demidov shared with Stanislavsky his own thoughts related to the shortcomings of teaching the "system", while arranging a demonstration of his own latest discoveries. Apparently, Stanislavsky, who was previously against Demidov's desire to train students/actors differently, was positively surprised when witnessing the results of this new approach. Although both practitioners might have thought that a combination between the two techniques could provide a new path for the actor, probably due to Stanislavsky's health problems, such an endeavour never came to fruition. Therefore, as a prerequisite of a practical research project, briefly analysing both paths, this article aims to delineate ways towards finding out whether they can be merged into a single one and how this could be used as a brand-new rehearsing technique. Background: This article draws on municipal, provincial, and federal archives to examine multiculturalism as an ideology, a government strategy, and a media discourse. Analysis: The author scrutinizes official and corporate forms of multiculturalism in Canada between 1971 and 2003, and develops case studies of "tempered radicals" who worked with and within small-l liberal institutions and discourses while trying to change them. Conclusions and implications: The author suggests that the keyword "shy elitism" might be a helpful tool to address the forms of credentialism and anti-intellectualism that have often confined and defined the study of multiculturalism. SCHOOL dropouts , *HUMAN capital , *SOCIOECONOMIC factors , *SECONDARY education , *PRIMARY education - Abstract
The issue of dropping out of school in Cameroon has so far only focused on primary and secondary education (Ngoufo Yemedi, 2004; Noumba, 2008; Ntouda Betsogo, 2011). This study examines the factors that may be related to dropping out of university studies in the country. Its objective is therefore to examine the link between socioeconomic factors and dropping out of studies in the first cycle of FALSH at the University of Yaounde I. The study is based on a quantitative research estimate calling for the questionnaire as a data collection instrument. The results obtained were interpreted on the basis of the social theory of Baudelot and Establet (1971) and Mballa Owono (1986) and the economic theory of human capital of Becker (1964). These results show the existence of a relationship between three factors (father's level of education, socio-professional level of the father, time spent by the student in a paid job during studies per week) and dropping out of undergraduate studies of FALSH at the University of Yaounde I. GENDER , *RACISM , *MINORITIES , *DISCOURSE , *CONCEPTS , *MINORITY stress - Abstract
Echoing various controversies on gender and race that have arisen in the French political arena in recent years, minority knowledge has faced a new wave of strong resistance. By analyzing the rhetorical persistence of anti-minority discourse as well as its current specificities (opposition to the so-called “gender theory”, rejection of the category of race), the article shows the ongoing relevance of Colette Guillaumin’s ideas today in analyzing the rationale and stakes of this offensive. Throughout her work, Guillaumin has been engaged in reflecting on the oppositions raised by minority voices and has helped to forge the concepts targeted by the current attacks (minority, race, racization). - Abstract
Uppsatsen pekar på att J. H. Roman förtjänar en självklar plats i violinrepertoaren., The overall aim of this bachelor thesis is to document the 25 etudes by J. H. Roman from around 1730 with audio recording. To my knowledge, these etudes have not previously been recorded in their entirety, and thus my hope is to be able to contribute to a wider acknowledgement of these to many completely unknown etudes by ”The Father of Swedish Music”. In order to achieve the aim of the essay, the process of studying, interpretation and documentation is analyzed. The result is that 25 etudes by Roman are recorded and that they will be made available on YouTube. The 25 etudes differ from each other and require different things from the musician. The etudes hold great potential for broadened and deepened learning of various violin-specific techniques. The etudes are also and above all musically appealing and beautiful. The essay points out that J. H. Roman deserves an obvious place in the violin repertoire., Innehåller länkar till youtube med inspelningar av Romans 25 etyder.

In this article, we present a software that can be used to carry out studies on search and information systems. The goal of the Relevance Assessment Tool (RAT) is to support extensive research using data from commercial search engines. The software is a modular web-based software with which data from search engines can be recorded automatically, studies with questions and scales can be flexibly designed and the information objects can be evaluated by jurors on the basis of the questions. Due to the modularity the individual components can be used for a multitude of studies relating to web content. Thus, the software can also be used for qualitative content analyses or, through automated scraping, can provide a large database of web documents that can be analysed quantitatively in empirical studies. Objective: The objective of this study is to determine whether or not there is a link between the experience of midwifery studies and the supervision of midwifery students in the field today. In addition, it made it possible to report on the state of awareness of midwives concerning the student well-being survey figures and to provide avenues for improvement concerning supervision.Method: The study is quantitative, descriptive, multicenter of the transversal type accompanied by three qualitative parts. An online questionnaire was distributed through direct contact with executive midwives, PMI midwives and independent midwives. Results: The response rate for this survey is 24,1%.Discussion and conclusion: Midwives highlight a fairly good experience of studies despite the existence of situations that are sometimes borderline or abusive. They say midwifery studies are stressful, but so is the profession. The supervision received during the studies directly impacts their way of supervising today. Their objectives are not to reproduce the bad behavior experienced during studies and are oriented towards a benevolent approachto supervision. Moreover, they are in demand for tools to improve it : training, logbook for the skills acquired, more communication with schools, status of tutor or internship supervisor.

[ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

- Abstract
Arbetet beskriver olika metoder för skapande inom folkmusik och den kreativa potentialen i olika metoder diskuteras mot bakgrund av erfarenheterna från projektet., In this work, I create new tunes to investigate and convey the characteristics of different tune types in Swedish folk music, which can be considered as etudes. Etudes can be exercises intended to provide an opportunity to teach an instrumental art, a common form in western art music but not at all as established in Swedish folk music, where there is no equally formalized schooling. Based on descriptive studies and my own analysis of a selection of tune types, I have with creation as a method developed an interpretation of what I examine where the interpretation and tune has emerged iteratively, in what can be considered a qualitative and exploratory research process. The aim has been to imitate the traditional melodies with a focus on stylistically characteristic features, but where the tunes / etudes should at the same time be able to stand on their own artistically. In the process, I have evaluated and partly developed new composition methods and learning methods in the view of what had creative potential. The work describes different methods for creation in folk music and the creative potential in different methods is discussed in the light of the experiences from the project., Rättvikspolska av Tommy Lundgren - Tommy Lundgren, fiolFarfars Reinlender av Tommy Lundgren - Tommy Lundgren, fiol - Fanny Källström, basfiol - Ingrid Rodebjer, fiolVals av Tommy Lundgren - Tommy Lundgren, fiolDrill-Experiment av Tommy Lundgren - Tommy Lundgren, fiolKungsgården av Tommy Lundgren - Tommy Lundgren, fiol - Fanny Källström, fiolOrsapolska, Orsapolska2 av Tommy Lundgren - Tommy Lundgren, fiolTriolpolska av Tommy Lundgren, Porland (trad) - Tommy Lundgren, fiolSpringlek och Finnskogspols av Tommy Lundgren - Tommy Lundgren, fiol - Alice Evensen Landström, fiol - Albin Myrin, klarinettDen sista brudmarschen av Tommy Lundgren - Tommy Lundgren, fiol - Fanny Källström, fiol - Ingrid Rodebjer, fiol

ABSTRACT The Contemporary Revolution—Evolution of Viola Repertoire by Jordan WarmathToday, it is somewhat rare to attend a classical music concert be it a quartet performance, orchestral concert, or solo recital and have a contemporary or “new” work on the program. What was once common practice in Beethoven’s time must once again be embraced as common practice among performers if the viola repertoire and the classical genre are to flourish. It is simply no longer enough to have mastered the 20th century demands of the instrument as a performer but rather all its satellite components as well. The contemporary violist bears little resemblance to a violist of the 19th century. Some 200 years ago, playing a viola meant being a performer of the “lesser” sibling to the violin. Today, etudes for the viola are detrimentally tilted toward the romantic, while the majority of the standard viola repertoire is decidedly contemporary. The standard etudes are largely antiquated transpositions of 18th century classicism whose application proves less helpful as the decades pass by. No longer do the tonalities of Ševčík, Kreutzer, and Mazas bear resemblance to the music they attempt to help facilitate. How does one rectify a pedagogy that has fallen so far behind in preparing its acolytes for the true challenges of its repertoire? Part I of this document describes the current progression of pedagogical literature and technical studies at the intermediate level. This pedagogical progression is then augmented by the inclusion of contemporary literature and alternative etudes within the framework of the standard repertoire. Part II discusses the current advanced pedagogical progression and its standard accompanying etudes and technical studies. This advanced repertoire is explained further and altered to incorporate appropriately challenging contemporary literature. A new set of etudes composed in the last century will then be included to help the violist overcome the differing technical hurdles these pieces present. This part of the document will contain specific examples of contemporary pedagogical literature to highlight how a different progression of etudes, studies, scales, and repertoire can aid the student in attaining success in the landscape of a 21st century violist.

- Abstract
The issue of the efficacy of optimal glycemic control in the prevention of macroangiopathic complications of diabetes has been the subject of recent controversy. Although the facts are clear for microangiopathy, particularly in type 1 diabetes, they appear less certain for the cardiovascular complications of type 2 diabetes. This is due to the involvement of other cardiovascular risk factors that are very common in these patients. However, long-term follow-up studies are in favor of the interest of good glycemic control on macroangiopathic complications. The negative results on the mortality of the ACCORD study and the concerns regarding rosiglitazone led to the establishment of studies on the safety of new molecules. All this work led to the demonstration of the absence of risk of prescription of iDPP-4 and the very positive effect of certain molecules of the class of analogues of GLP-1 and iSGLT2. It is to be hoped that the recent publication of the Academy of Medicine stressing that complications of type 2 diabetes require multifactorial prevention that necessarily involves an optimized control of the glycemic balance put an end of this unnecessary and dangerous polemic.

For almost three decades, French geographers have very significantly changed their discipline. The geography, in this globalized context of the knowledge economy, records some transformations, relating to the objects of research, but also to the notional, conceptual and instrumented tools. The result is areas of investigation that reconfigure or renegotiate relationship between geography and other social sciences, and even others scientific fields. The article offers a reading of these developments and some epistemological issues.

- Abstract
Although the euphonium has often been overlooked relative to its orchestral brass counterparts, its potential as a unique solo instrument has continued to grow and be acknowledged by renowned composers and performers of the modern era. Its voice-like tenor sound, technical facility, and wide useable range have continued to inspire challenging and exciting new solo works. However, when preparing to perform the advanced repertoire, most of the method and etude materials available to euphoniumists are dated, mostly relevant for solo music of the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries. Many resources were actually composed for other instruments, such as the trumpet, trombone, or tuba. In this document, multiple seminal solo works, commonly used method books, and commonly used etude books are assessed to determine the specific musical and technical gaps between study materials and solo works. Materials are assessed by their uses of atonal scales and musical figures (including quarter tones and four-valve alternate fingerings); expanded upper and lower registers; degree of flexibility between registers; lip slurs and lip trills; and uncommon or extended techniques such as lip bends, valve glissandi, alternate valve tremolos, flutter tonguing, and multiphonics. Finally, a New Advanced Method for Euphonium is presented as well as a collection of etudes in order to bridge the gap between existing studies and advanced solo works.

International audience; This article examines the way “minor” journalists talk about their own careers, and more specifically about a recurring motive: people become journalists because they have failed in their studies (law or medicine). This motive constructs an alternative and degraded image of the career of the “great provincial man in Paris”: that of the proletarian man or woman of letters, incompetent, and opting for journalism by default, for lack of a diploma.; L’article interroge les discours tenus par les « petits » journalistes sur leurs propres carrières, et plus particulièrement sur un motif obsédant : on devient journaliste parce qu’on a manqué ses études (de droit ou de médecine).

The aim of the research is to determine the current situation of Misket tune system teaching and is to test the workability of exercises and studies developed chromatic position approach produced relating to find solutions to detected problems in Baglama/ Saz instrumental lessons in professional music training institutions in Turkey. For this purpose, primarily in twenty professional music education institutions determined as at degree level in Turkey, negotiations were held by having semi-structured talks to thirty lecturers/members, who conducting/conducted individual instrument Baglama/Saz lessons, and by means of these negotiations the present situation of misket tune system teaching in Turkey is examined describing in different aspects. Afterwards, the folk songs that are identified with this tune system in the TRT Turkish Folk Music Repertoire, in other words, considered as misket folk songs, were analyzed from various ways. After the imprint information of the works are revealed, the curtain sequences they use are categorized and then the oldest sound recordings that can be accessed are analyzed in the light of available source person's opinions, current sound recordings and notations in terms of the positions they use in the traditional performance. As a result of this analysis, taking into account the most used positions in traditional performance, production of exercises and etudes that aim to provide and form the teaching model has been started aiming to ensure that folk songs are performed more competently in the positional sense of the songs written in the F# ending pointing in a notation associated with the misket tune system in a sample of 6 (PII, PIV, PVII, PIX, PXII, PXIV) positions. Exercises aiming to develop mental skills, with a permutational understanding; studies were produced by using a unique study production model that requires the use of a string group first, then two and three string groups at the end, with the basis of starting from the ending point. The prepared exercises and studies were applied to the study group after the pilot application and the correlation between the pre-test and post-test scores was evaluated. A semi-structured interview form prepared by the researcher was used to obtain the data used in the qualitative part of the research. In the experimental part, in order to evaluate the pre-test and post-test scores of the participants, a performance evaluation form was created by taking the opinions of the field researches by the researcher. In the analysis of the data of the experimental part of the research, dependent sample t-test was used to determine whether there is a significant difference between the two variables according to the pretest-posttest results after the experimental procedure applied. As a result, it has been determined that the exercises and studies created within the scope of the research have contributed significantly to performing competent performance by increasing the students' position skills in the performance of the misket tune system.

Although discontinuous and limited to about ten years, their friendship inspired to Claudel beautiful letters, transcribed for the first time in their entirety, and to expressions of admiration on the part of Schwob that the poet will long remember.

42. Études for the Orchestral Cymbalist: Developing the Skills for Successful Crash Cymbals Performance

- Abstract
In the study of percussion instruments as a part of a collegiate education, the focus is usually placed upon performance of literature from four major areas: snare drum, mallet percussion, timpani, and multiple percussion. This often leaves an instructional gap in the field of performance on percussion accessory instruments, including performance of orchestral crash cymbals. Though literature exists for the instruction of techniques required for commonly performed orchestral works and collections of basic études for cymbals, currently no pedagogical literature exists that cultivates the techniques required for performance of standard orchestral literature through technical études. By identifying required techniques for the performance of standard orchestral literature, technical études have been composed in order to assist with the development of six essential core techniques required to perform the most widely performed orchestral repertoire and works requested in professional orchestral auditions. In addition to these technical études, accompaniment tracks have been composed, incorporating music from the original orchestral works to help educate performance and cultivate a greater familiarity with the repertoire for which the études are specifically designed.

This study examines twelve lone mothers' experiences of higher education at two universities in New Zealand. Interviews illustrated that lone mothers are often constructed by society as people who deserve to feel guilt for burdening taxpayers and for raising children without a live-in father. This guilt is visceral. It is felt in and lived through bodies on a daily basis. For most of the interviewees, however, succeeding at university also prompted feelings of pride. Drawing on Elspeth Probyn's ideas about guilt, shame and pride enabled us to understand more about lone mothers' experiences of higher education. We remain less certain about guilt's affective capacity for politics in our particular case. For some mothers feeling guilt lead to a questioning of normative constructions of motherhood but for others this was not the case. It would seem, therefore, that guilt's transformative potential can be mobilized in both emancipatory and more normative ways. We also found that lone mothers engaged in higher learning occupy paradoxical space. Some become empowered to see their lives and relationships differently, from the margins and from the centre, through guilt and pride. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Drawing on data from the EPIC study of individual and conjugal trajectories (Étude des parcours individuels et conjugaux, INED–INSEE, 2013–2014, France), this article analyses the context in which couples met, the level of education they reached, and their subsequent careers. It calls into question the claim that longer education bolsters partners’ educational and socioeconomic similarity and exacerbates intercouple inequality in the population at large. The proportion of couples who meet in an educational context has risen across birth cohorts. However, for relationships that were in progress at the time of the survey, separations and repartnering greatly attenuate the impact of this increase. As expected, partners who met at school show very similar educational levels. But while educational homogamy works in favour of occupational status homogamy at both the time the relationship started as well as at the time of the survey, that tie is quite weak. Having met at school only slightly affects the difference between partners’ occupational positions. Gender inequalities (hypergamy) ultimately appear stronger than homogamy: it is in couples where the woman’s level of education is higher than the man’s that the occupational gap in the man’s favour is smallest.; Cet article analyse, à partir de l’enquête Étude des parcours individuels et conjugaux (Épic, Ined-Insee, 2013-2014) réalisée en France, le lien entre le cadre de rencontre des conjoints, leurs diplômes et leurs carrières professionnelles.
