This study is focused on the development of a nanostructured coating by soft chemistry in order to obtain antibacterial and self-cleaning properties. The strategy adopted was to implement an energy-efficient aqueous chemical method for environmental reasons: the adopted protocol involves the formation of nanometric zinc oxide rods using a liquid route at temperatures below 100 ° C. First, we studied the relationship between the substrate preparation method and the durability of the final deposited coating (initial surface condition, part geometry, etc.). In order to improve the resistance of growth-initiating germs, a silica gel has been developed, optimized and previously deposited on the substrate as a chemical bonding base. The choice of zinc oxide as nanostructuring crystallites then provides a photo-catalytic characteristic which activates the degradation of various organic substances (dirt, bacteria). This property has also been verified by firstly studying the mortality of model bacteria and secondly by monitoring the discoloration of a dye, methylene blue, to simulate soiling. Tests with common bacterial strains like E. coli have been performed and have shown less proliferation on a treated surface compared to a bare surface. A population of bacteria 3 to 4 times less important on the surface was noted. There is also 3 times more mortality in washing water. This shows the difficulty of bacteria to attach on the surface as well as a mortality effect induced by the coating. Vapor deposition of a long carbon chain molecule increases the superhydrophobic property of the surface, thereby preventing soil deposition and reducing the use of cleaning products, without reducing the desired properties. The mechanical durability of the coating has also been studied in order to verify the maintenance of the self-cleaning properties in use. A tailored tribological test has been developed to simulate the friction of a finger on the surface. Despite the observed wear of the needles, the coating retains its hydrophobic character and its ability to degrade. It has also been observed that the superhydrophobic layer degrades in priority for the benefit of the integrity of the nano-needles.; Cette étude est focalisée sur l’élaboration d’un revêtement nanostructuré par procédé chimie douce afin d’obtenir des propriétés antibactériennes et autonettoyantes. La stratégie adoptée a été de mettre en place une méthode chimique en voie aqueuse peu énergivore pour des raisons environnementales : le protocole adopté met en jeu la formation d’oxyde de zinc nanométrique par voie liquide à des températures inférieures à 100°C. En premier lieu, nous nous sommes attachés à étudier la relation entre la méthode de préparation du substrat et la durabilité du revêtement final déposé (état de surface initial, géométrie de la pièce…). Afin d’améliorer la tenue des germes initiateurs de croissance, un gel de silice a été mis au point, optimisé et préalablement déposé sur le substrat comme base d’accroche chimique. Le choix de l’oxyde de zinc en tant que cristallites nano-structurants apporte ensuite un caractère photo-catalytique qui active la dégradation de diverses substances organiques (salissures, bactéries). Cette propriété a par ailleurs été vérifiée via d’une part l’étude de la mortalité de bactéries modèles et d’autre part le suivi de décoloration d’un colorant, le bleu de méthylène, permettant de simuler une salissure. Les tests avec des souches bactériennes communes comme E. coli ont été réalisés et ont montré une prolifération plus réduite sur une surface traitée comparé à une surface nue. Une population de bactéries 3 à 4 fois moins importante sur la surface a été relevée. Il y a également 3 fois plus de mortalité dans les eaux de lavage. Ceci montre une difficulté d’accroche des bactéries ainsi qu’un effet de mortalité induit par le revêtement. Un dépôt en phase vapeur d’une molécule à longue chaîne carbonée permet d’accroître la propriété superhydrophobe de la surface, empêchant ainsi un dépôt de salissure et réduisant l’utilisation de produits de nettoyage, sans pour autant amoindrir les propriétés recherchées. La durabilité mécanique du revêtement a également été étudiée afin de vérifier le maintien des propriétés autonettoyantes à l’usage. Un test tribologique sur-mesure a été élaboré pour permettre de simuler le frottement d’un doigt sur la surface. Malgré l’usure constatée des aiguilles, le revêtement conserve son caractère hydrophobe et sa capacité de dégradation. Il a également été observé que la couche superhydrophobe se dégradait en priorité au profit de l’intégrité des nano-aiguilles.

O atual interesse em modificação de superfícies surge da possibilidade de obtenção de novas propriedades físicas, mecânicas e tribológicas dos materiais. Particularmente, o bombardeamento iônico com gases nobres tem se mostrado um método importante para modificar a cinética de difusão de nitrogênio e a eficiência do processo, além das propriedades finais do material devido a criação de defeitos criados pelo impacto iônico tanto na superfície como, por efeito cascada, no volume. Sendo assim, estudar as mudanças geradas por bombardeamento iônico em ligas metálicas é fundamental tanto do ponto de vista tecnológico como dos fenômenos físicos básicos para um melhor entendimento da difusão de nitrogênio. Duas ligas metálicas de ferro foram investigadas: aço AISI 316L (alta liga) e AISI 4140 (baixa liga). A investigação da topografia das amostras estudadas após o bombardeamento mostrou que este procedimento induz a formação de padrões nanométricos dependentes da orientação cristalina da superfície e aumenta a rugosidade dos materiais analisados. Estudos de presença de microstrain realizados por difração de raios-X a baixo ângulo mostram que o bombardeamento gera defeitos na superfície e em volume por efeito cascada, em profundidades com ordens de magnitude maiores que a distância de frenamento dos íons Xe+. Verificou-se que a microestrutura e a dureza de seção transversal das ligas nitretadas são modificadas por bombardeamento iônico prévio ao procedimento de nitretação. Amostras pré-bombardeadas da liga AISI 4140 possuem agulhas de até alguns ?m de composts de nitretos enquanto tais compostos em amostras não sujeitas ao prébombardeamento são pequenos, granulares e descontínuos. Para a liga AISI 316L, foi observada uma camada de compostos única e compacta para amostras pré-bombardeadas, diferentemente da camada dupla, tipicamente encontrada em amostras sem tratamento prévio. Além disso, para esta liga, um perfil de dureza maior e mais suave foi encontrado para amostras pré-bombardeadas. Relacionamos as modificações da difusão de nitrogênio por bombardeamento iônico com o aumento do sticking factor do nitrogênio devido a múltiplas colisões resultantes da nanoestruturação e presença de canais extras de difusão Abstract: This dissertation deals with the nanostructuration by low energy ion beam Xe+ (< 1keV) bombardment on the surface properties, microstructure and nitrogen diffusion after pulsed plasma nitridation of iron alloys. The current interest in surface modification arises from the possibility of obtaining new physical, mechanical and tribological properties of materials. In particular, noble gases ion bombardment is an important method for improve nitrogen diffusion modification, since the efficiency of the nitriding process and the material final properties are influenced by defects created by the ionic impact on both surface and bulk, the later by cascade collision effects. Therefore, the understanding of the modifications generated by ionic bombardment on metallic alloys is essential for better understanding nitrogen diffusion. Two type of alloys were investigated in this study: steels AISI 316L (high alloy) and AISI 4140 (low alloy). Investigations of the topography after bombardment showed that this procedure induces the formation of nanometric patterns within crystalline grains, increasing the roughness of the analyzed materials. Studies of the microstrain created by the ion bombardment by X-ray diffraction show that the bombardment generates bulk defects at distances orders of magnitude larger than the Xe+ ion stopping distance by cascade collisions. It was found that microstructure and cross-section hardness of nitrided alloys are modified by pre- ionic bombardment. Pre-bombarded AISI 4140 samples form long and needle-shaped nitrides compounds while the ones found in standard samples are small and discontinuous. For the AISI 316L alloy, differently from the double nitride layer normally found in nitrided standard samples, the pre-bombardment treatment leads to a single thick compact case, higher hardness and a smoother hardness gradient. We can correlate the nitrogen diffusion modifications by ionic bombardment with the increasing of the surface sticking factor and the presence of extra diffusion channels, due to the increasing roughness and defects in bulk after Xe+ bombardment, respectively Mestrado Física Mestra em Física

In recent years, significant advancement in the synthesis, characterization and association with different types of polymers, thermoplastics or reactive (thermosetting) systems of ionic liquids with tunable nature (ammonium, imidazolium, and phosphonium) open up new perspectives in the field of polymers, in particular in one of epoxy networks. It has been shown that ionic liquids (ILs) could contribute to host polymers as they can act as nanostructuring agents, interfacial agents of nanofillers (ionic exchanges with lamellar silicates or grafted onto silica nanofillers), or even as reagent intervening on the polymerization mechanism. Thus, enhanced physical behaviors (mechanical, surface, thermal resistance, etc.) which cannot be obtained with conventional approaches could be achieved. Furthermore, according to numerous studies, it has also been shown that organic-inorganic (O/I) objects such as metal-oxo clusters of the POSS® (PolyOligomericSilsexqioxanes) could be incorporated into polymers. In particular, in networks based on epoxy or methacryate, POSS® could act as co-monomer and/or self-assemble as O/I nanostructures in order to confer specific functionalities. This thesis work presents the preparation, characterization and modification of epoxy/amine or epoxy IL/amine by IL-modified POSS® nanoclusters. The first par of this work is dedicated to study the effect of the grafting of imidazolium ionic liquid onto POSS® carrying different organic ligands (isobutyl or phenyl) on the formation of uniform and well-dispersed POSS® nanodomains in the epoxy-amine networks. In the second part, the effect of the nanostructuration of IL-g-POSS®Ph within the epoxy/amine network on the properties, including thermal stability, surface properties, mechanical, and fire behavior will be examined. In the last section, new epoxy IL (ILM/IPD) hybrid O/I networks have been implemented. For this, diepoxyde salts (ILMs) were synthesized and then copolymerized with a diamine hardener (IPD) with or without the presence of POSS®Ph-triol or IL-g-POSS®Ph. Such routes were investigated in order to design flexible epoxy IL hybrid networks (ILM/amine/IL-g-POSS®Ph) exhibiting very interesting and multifunctional properties compared to conventional epoxy networks., Au cours de ces dernières années, des avancées importantes ont été réalisées dans la synthèse, la caractérisation et l’association avec différents polymères, thermoplastiques ou systèmes réactifs (thermodurcissables) de liquides ioniques de nature divers (ammonium, imidazolium ou phosphonium) ouvrent de nouvelles perspectives dans le domaine des matériaux polymères, en particulier celui des réseaux époxyde. En effet, il a été démontré que les liquides ioniques (LI) pouvaient apporter beaucoup aux polymères en se comportant en tant qu’agents nanostructurants, agents interfaciaux de nanocharges (échanges ioniques avec les silicates lamellaires ou greffés sur des nanocharges de silice) ou encore en tant que co-monomères intervenant sur les mécanismes de polymérisation. Des comportements physiques améliorés (mécanique, de surface, de tenue thermique, etc.) peuvent être ainsi obtenus par des approches conventionnelles. Par ailleurs, au cours de nombreuses études, il a été également démontré que des objets organiques-inorganiques (O/I) comme des clusters de type métal-oxo ou POSS® (PolyOligomericSilSexqioxanes) pouvaient être incorporés dans des polymères, en particulier des réseaux de type polyépoxy ou méthacrylates, comme co-monomères et/ou être auto-assemblés sous forme de nanostructures O/I susceptibles de leur conférer des fonctionnalités spécifiques. Ce travail de thèse présente donc la préparation, la caractérisation et la modification de réseaux époxy/amine ou époxy LI/amine avec des POSS® modifiés par des LIs. Dans un premier temps, ce travail est dédié à étudier l'effet du greffage des liquides ioniques d'imidazolium sur des POSS® porteurs de différents ligands organiques (isobutyle ou phényle) sur la formation de nanodomaines POSS® uniformément bien dispersés dans des réseaux époxy-amine. Dans la deuxième partie, l’effet de la nanostructuration des LI-g-POSS®Ph sur les propriétés de réseaux époxy/amine, à savoir leur stabilité thermique, leurs propriétés de surface, leur comportement mécanique et leur tenue au feu sera étudié. Dans la dernière section, de nouveaux réseaux époxy-LI hybride O/I ont été mis en œuvre. Pour cela des sels diépoxydés (LIMs) ont été synthétisés puis co-polymérisés avec un durcisseur diamine (IPD) avec ou sans la présence de POSS®Ph-triol ou LI-g-POSS®Ph afin de concevoir des réseaux époxy-LI hybride (LIM/amine/LI-g-POSS®Ph) souples présentant des propriétés très intéressantes par rapport des réseaux époxy classiques.

International audience; Nanocelluloses occur under various crystalline forms that are currently being selectively used for a wide variety of high performance materials. In the present study, two cellulose nanofibers (CF-I) were mercerized by alkaline treatment (CF-II) without degradation, the same molar mass of 560,000 g/mol was measured. Both samples were acid hydrolyzed, leading to cellulose nanocrystals in native (CNC-I) and mercerized (CNC-II) forms. This study focuses on the detailed characterization of these two nanoparticle morphologies (light and neutron scattering, TEM, AFM), surface chemistry (zetametry and surface charge), crystallinity (XRD, C-13 NMR), and average molar mass coupled to chromatographic techniques (SEC-MALLS-RI, A4F-MALLS-RI), revealing variations in the packing of the crystalline domains. The crystal size of CNC-II is reduced by half compared to CNC-I, with molar masses of individual chains of 41,000 g/mol and 22,000 g/mol for CNC-I and CNC-II, respectively, whereas the same surface charge density is measured. This study gives an example of complementary characterization techniques as well as results to help decipher the mechanism involved in mercerization.

The nanoscience and nano technology development determine the continual device miniaturization. Until now, lithography has been the main driving force of this process, but reaches its resolution limits. In this context and to meet future technological requirements, new patterning techniques will have to be considered. Due to its nanometric size (diameter of 2 nm), its capacity for self-assembly, its structural diversity and the possibilities of functionalization, DNA constitutes a promising approach making it possible to push back the limits of resolution obtained by photolithography processes. In particular, it offers the possibility of creating 2D and 3D architectures, defined to the nearest nanometer. DNA origami based lithography have become of great interest for highresolution patterning due to of their facility, elegance and high throughput. Self-assembling materials used in conjunction with the most advanced exposure tools may enable extension of current manufacturing practices to dimensions of 10 nm and less.This thesis work demonstrates the feasibility of nano-structuring the surface of a silicon substrate from a DNA origami mask. It aims at a sub-10 nm resolution, a pattern density compatible with microelectronic applications, but also the realization of complex self-aligned structures.The studies carried out during this work focused on two axes. We were first interested in etching processes and their characterization, allowing the transfer of sub-10 nm motifs from an origami DNA mask. A second area of work focused on the individual positioning of these structures. For this, we have implement a new nano-patterning hybrid process by combining conventional lithography and self-assembly of DNA origami. By locally controlling the surface properties we managed the placement of single DNA origami on the substrate, in order to integrate them into functional devices., Les technologies de l'information requièrent des dispositifs électroniques de plus en plus complexes qui, dans une démarche logique de miniaturisation, combinent à la fois haute résolution, haute densité ainsi qu’un design complexe. Dans ce contexte et pour répondre aux futures exigences des technologies, de nouvelles techniques de patterning devront être envisagées. De par son gabarit nanométrique (diamètre de 2 nm), sa capacité à l'auto-assemblage et les possibilités de fonctionnalisation, l'ADN constitue une approche prometteuse permettant de repousser les limites de résolution obtenues par les procédés de photolithographie. Plus particulièrement, l’auto-assemblage d’origamis d’ADN, dans lequel un simple brin d’ADN est replié de manière programmable par des brins d’ADN synthétiques plus petits appelés agrafes, offre la possibilité de réaliser des architectures en 2D et en 3D, définies au nanomètre près.Ce travail de thèse démontre la faisabilité de nano-structurer la surface d'un substrat de silicium à partir d’un masque en origami d'ADN. Il vise une résolution sub-10 nm, une densité de motifs compatible avec des applications microélectroniques, mais aussi la réalisation de structures complexes auto-alignées.Les études réalisées au cours de ces travaux se sont focalisées autour de deux axes. Nous nous sommes tout d’abord intéressés aux procédés de gravure afin de transférer des motifs sub-10 nm à partir d’un masque en origami d’ADN. Un deuxième axe de travail a porté sur le positionnement individuel de ces structures. Pour cela, un procédé de structuration de surface a été développé, grâce à l’utilisation de techniques de lithographie conventionnelles, permettant le positionnement déterministe d’origamis d’ADN sur un substrat de silicium.

International audience; Nanostructuration is one of the most promising strategies to develop performant electrode materials for energy storage devices, such as hybrid supercapacitors. In this work, we studied the influence of precipitation medium and the use of a series of 1-alkyl-3-methylimidazolium bromide ionic liquids for the nanostructuration of β(III) cobalt oxyhydroxides. Then, the effect of the nanostructuration and the impact of the different ionic liquids used during synthesis were investigated in terms of energy storage performances. First, we demonstrated that forward precipitation, in a cobalt-rich medium, leads to smaller particles with higher specific surface areas (SSA) and an enhanced mesoporosity. Introduction of ionic liquids (ILs) in the precipitation medium further strongly increased the specific surface area and the mesoporosity to achieve well-nanostructured materials with a very high SSA of 265 m2/g and porosity of 0.43 cm3/g. Additionally, we showed that ILs used as surfactant and template also functionalize the nanomaterial surface, leading to a beneficial synergy between the highly ionic conductive IL and the cobalt oxyhydroxide, which lowers the resistance charge transfer and improves the specific capacity. The nature of the ionic liquid had an important influence on the final electrochemical properties and the best performances were reached with the ionic liquid containing the longest alkyl chain.

In this work, we model thin films of β-Ca(BH4)2 to understand how nanostructuration of the material can be an effective way to decrease the dehydrogenation enthalpy. Two different crystallographic faces of Ca(BH4)2 have been investigated (i.e., (001) and (101)), and two reaction pathways have been considered that release hydrogen through the formation of CaH2 and CaB6, respectively. Quantum mechanical calculations predict that size reduction from bulk to nanoscale leads to a sizeable decrease of the decomposition enthalpy of the borohydride of about 5 kJ/molH2. Therefore, the present results corroborate the evidence that nanostructured metal borohydrides show advantages for energy storage applications compared to their bulk counterparts.

Thermoplastic elastomers, made of segmented block copolymers forming phase-separated domains (hard/soft) are widely used in the industry for various applications (car dashboards, cable sheathing or even bitumen modifiers). However, the empirical approach often used consisting in modifying the chain composition and looking at the consequences on the final properties lacks of understanding and the structure-properties relationships remain elusive nowadays. The main objective of this thesis is to bring new insights on the following points. What are the effects of the chain architecture and processing conditions on the crystallization kinetics and resulting morphology? Can we explain the reinforcement effect in these materials from the knowledge of their particular structure? How does the flow-induced crystallization influence the rheological properties? To answer these questions, we propose to combine an experimental study, based on structural and rheological characterizations of multiblock copolymers (polybutylene terephthalate – polytetrahydrofuran), with a numerical approach consisting in the development of a coarse-grained model for molecular dynamic simulations. This work led to the following main results. First, it was shown that the multiphasic structure, resulting from a bimodal crystallization whose kinetics is essentially controlled by the soft segment’s length, highly depends on the processing conditions, leading to more ordered structures when the chain mobility is higher. Then, the topological analysis of the semicrystalline network enabled to identify two key parameters to predict the evolution of the plateau modulus: volume fraction and width of the crystallites. Finally, the evolution of the flow properties under flow-induced crystallization was described thanks to the elaboration of a rheological model based on the slowdown of the chains dynamics., Les élastomères thermoplastiques, faits de copolymères à blocs segmentés formant des domaines mous et durs (cristallites) séparés sont largement utilisés dans l'industrie pour la production d’éléments divers (tableaux de bord, gaines de câbles ou encore adjuvants pour le bitume). Cependant, l’approche souvent très empirique consistant à modifier la composition de la chaîne et observer l’impact sur les propriétés finales laisse peu de place à la compréhension et à la généralisation de relations structure-propriétés qui restent encore mal comprises. L'objectif de cette thèse est d'apporter une meilleure compréhension des points suivants. Quels sont les effets de l'architecture de la chaîne et des conditions de procédé sur la cinétique de cristallisation et la morphologie résultante ? Peut-on expliquer l’origine du renforcement dans ces matériaux à partir de leur structure particulière ? Comment la cristallisation induite sous écoulement influence-t-elle les propriétés rhéologiques ? Pour répondre à ces questions, nous proposons de combiner l’étude expérimentale basée sur la caractérisation structurale et rhéologique de copolymères multiblocs (polybutylène téréphtalate – polytétrahydrofurane) avec une approche numérique passant par le développement d’un modèle gros-grains pour la simulation en dynamique moléculaire. Les travaux ainsi menés ont abouti aux résultats principaux suivants. Premièrement, il a été montré que la structure multiphasique, résultant d’une cristallisation bimodale dont la cinétique est essentiellement contrôlée par la longueur du segment mou, dépend fortement des conditions de mise en œuvre menant à des structures plus ordonnées lorsque la mobilité des chaînes est élevée. Ensuite, l’analyse de la topologie du réseau semicristallin a permis de mettre en avant deux paramètres pertinents permettant de prédire l’évolution du plateau caoutchoutique : la fraction volumique et la largeur des cristallites. Enfin, l'évolution des propriétés d’écoulement au cours de la cristallisation sous déformation a été décrite en élaborant un modèle rhéologique basé sur le ralentissement de la dynamique des chaînes.

LNCMI-Toulouse produces some of the most intense non-destructive pulsed magnetic fields in the world (98.8 T). The wires used in coils which generate these magnetic fields require high ultimate tensile strength (UTS) in order to resist the Lorentz forces. Moreover, to obtain the longest possible pulse duration, these wires must have an electrical resistivity closest to that of pure Cu. LNCMI and CIRIMAT explore the design and preparation of Cu-based nanocomposite wires obtained by a combination of powder metallurgy, Spark Plasma Sintering (SPS) and wire-drawing. Composite powders with low Ag contents (< 10 % vol. Ag) are prepared by dispersing Ag microwires (diameter 200 nm, length 30 µm) synthesized at CIRIMAT in a commercial spherical Cu powder (diameter 0.5-1 µm). The so-obtained composite powders are consolidated by SPS in the form of cylinders. These cylinders are drawn, without breaking, in the form of fine wires (1 - 0.2 mm). The microstructure of the wires is made up of Cu ultrafine grains (200 - 400 nm) elongated over several micrometers in the drawing direction. Ag microwires are dispersed along the grain boundaries of Cu. The measurement of the electrical resistivity and the UTS of the wires (at 293 K and 77 K) shows that the wires containing only 1 vol. % Ag present the best compromise between high UTS and low electrical resistivity (1100 MPa / 0.49 µÔmega.cm at 77 K). The formation of Cu/Ag alloys during the SPS cycle significantly increases the resistivity of the wires and thus must be avoided. A Cu matrix with a bimodal grain size distribution makes it possible to reduce the electrical resistivity of the wires while keeping high UTS (1080 MPa / 0.45 µÔmega.cm at 77 K). Ag-Cu nanocomposite wires present high UTS, equivalent to that of Cu/Ag alloy wires containing about 20 times more Ag produced by melting and solidification, but their electrical resistivity is about 1.5 times lower.; Le LNCMI-Toulouse produit les champs magnétiques non-destructifs pulsés parmi les plus puissants du monde (98,8 T). Les poudres composites à faibles teneurs en Ag (< 10 % vol. Ag) sont préparées en dispersant des microfils d'Ag (diamètre 200 nm, longueur 30 µm) synthétisés au CIRIMAT dans une poudre commerciale de Cu sphérique (diamètre 0,5-1 µm). Les poudres ainsi obtenues sont consolidées par SPS sous forme de barreaux. Ceux-ci sont étirés sans rupture, jusqu'à l'obtention de fils fins (diamètre 1 - 0,2 mm) dont la microstructure est sous la forme de grains ultrafins de Cu (200 - 400 nm) allongés sur plusieurs micromètres dans le sens de l'étirage. Les microfils d'Ag sont dispersés le long des joints de grains du Cu. La mesure de la résistivité électrique et de la contrainte à la rupture des fils (à 293 K et 77 K) a permis de déterminer que les fils contenants seulement 1 % vol. Ag présentent le meilleur compromis contrainte à la rupture / résistivité (1100 MPa / 0,49 µÔmega.cm à 77 K). La formation d'un alliage Cu/Ag lors du frittage SPS a pour conséquence une augmentation notable de la résistivité électrique des fils et doit donc être évitée. Une matrice de Cu avec une distribution bimodale de la taille des grains permet de réduire la résistivité électrique tout en conservant une haute contrainte à la rupture (1080 MPa / 0,45 µÔmega.cm à 77 K). Les fils nano-composites Ag-Cu présentent une contrainte à la rupture équivalente à celle des fils d'alliage Cu/Ag contenant environ 20 fois plus d'Ag élaborés par fusion et solidification, mais présentent une résistivité électrique environ 1,5 fois plus faible.

The thesis is devoted to the Extraordinary Optical Transmission observed in diffractive systems. An industrial need in integration and miniaturization of optical components stimulates the development of planar grating-based devices with thicknesses comparable to operating wavelengths. The EOT effect is perspective for plasmonic applications in structure-induced colors, optical filtering, lasing, optical biosensors due to the improved signal-to-noise ratio and a simplified device design. Aimed at practically available materials and industrially-compatible surface nanotexturing methods, a systematic study of EOT through continuous aluminum films was performed. A modification of laser interference lithography allowing rapid fabrication of variable depth gratings was proposed, theoretically established and experimentally validated. The variable depth defines the efficiency of plasmonic coupling at a fixed wavelength, offering additional possibilities for light manipulations. Using this approach the existence of optimal grating depth for EOT was demonstrated experimentally and depth-resolved structure-induced colors were observed in transmission. For the first time the effect of EOT was experimentally measured in polycrystalline samples, fabricated via nanosphere photolithography. A phenomenological model of EOT in polycrystaline structures and a dimensionless coefficient of disorder are proposed to explain measured transmission curves. The grating depth and disorder concurrence was studied numerically. The systematic study of EOT in various diffraction systems presented in this thesis might pave the way towards more effective plasmonic devices and industrial applications., Cette thèse est consacrée à la transmission optique extraordinaire observée dans systèmes diffractifs. EOT est perspective pour des applications plasmoniques en raison de l’amélioration du rapport signal / bruit et pour la conception simplifiée de l’appareil. Visant des matériaux disponibles et des méthodes de nanotexturation compatibles avec l’industrie, une étude systématique de l’EOT à travers des films d’aluminium a été réalisée. D’abord, une modification de la lithographie interférentielle permettant la fabrication rapide de réseaux à profondeur variable a été proposée, théoriquement établie et validée expérimentalement. En utilisant cette approche, l’existence d’une profondeur de réseau optimale pour l’EOT a été démontrée expérimentalement et la structure résolue en profondeur a induit des changements de couleurs observés en transmission. Pour la première fois, l’effet de l’EOT a été démontré expérimentalement dans des échantillons polycristallins, fabriqués par nano-photolithographie colloïdale. La présence de désordre sub-longueur d’onde dans la disposition des nanopores affecte fortement l’efficacité de l’EOT, qui a été étudiée à la fois expérimentalement et numériquement. Un modèle phénoménologique d’EOT dans les structures polycristallines et un coefficient de désordre sans dimension sont proposés afin d’expliquer les courbes de transmission mesurées. La dépendance entre la profondeur du réseau et le désordre a été étudiée numériquement. L’étude systématique de l’EOT dans divers systèmes de diffraction présentés dans cette thèse pourrait ouvrir la voie à des dispositifs plasmoniques plus efficaces et à des applications industrielles.

International audience; Coherent 3D parts of cermets, made of spinel ferrite and metallic copper, are prepared in a nitrogen atmosphere by powder bed additive manufacturing of a mixture of oxide and metallic powders. The cermets obtained are constituted by the association of blocks of about 500 μm, which create between them, a relatively large porosity (# 35%). Each block is subdivided into intimately nested zones that are either predominantly metallic or predominantly oxide type. In the metal parts, a dispersion of oxide crystals is observed, whose size varies from ten nanometers to a few micrometers. A similar distribution of metal particles in the oxide zones is also demonstrated. The chemical compositions of metallic and oxide phases are slightly different from those in the initial powders. Due to the high energy density of the laser, the melting temperature of the metal and oxides could be reached and therefore this could explain the chemical composition variations in the phases and the shape of oxide and metallic nanometric grains. The process used can therefore be described as powder bed fusion. These nanostructured cermets have been used as "inert" anodes for the electrolysis of aluminum in molten cryolite. Although penalized by a high porosity, 5 mm in diameter anodes allowed to carry out an electrolysis for 4 h. Since Spark Plasma Sintering can greatly reduce their porosity, while retaining their specific microstructure, the implementation of additive manufacturing for producing "inert" anodes is therefore of real interest.

The monolithic integration of sub-micron quartz structures on silicon substrates is a key issue for the future development of piezoelectric devices as prospective sensors with applications based on the operation in the high-frequency range. However, to date, it has not been possible to make existing quartz manufacturing methods compatible with integration on silicon and structuration by top-down lithographic techniques. Here, we report an unprecedented large-scale fabrication of ordered arrays of piezoelectric epitaxial quartz nanostructures on silicon substrates by the combination of soft-chemistry and three lithographic techniques: (i) laser interference lithography, (ii) soft nanoimprint lithography on Sr-doped SiO2 sol–gel thin films, and (iii) self-assembled SrCO3 nanoparticle reactive nanomasks. Epitaxial α-quartz nanopillars with different diameters (from 1 μm down to 50 nm) and heights (up to 2 μm) were obtained. This work demonstrates the complementarity of soft-chemistry and top-down lithographic techniques for the patterning of epitaxial quartz thin films on silicon while preserving its epitaxial crystallinity and piezoelectric properties. In this Ph.D. thesis,I have been focused to investigate optimizations and strategies concerning the electron transportlayer (ETL),the hybrid perovskite active layer, and their interfaces in functional perovskite solar cells. On the investigatior of ETLs, I have performed two works: One is on the comparison of a simplified ETL-free planar perovskite solar cells,architecture to that with a planar TiO2 ETL (described in Chapter 2); Another work is on the comparison of perovskite,solat cells with well-oriented one-dimension TiO2 nanocolumn (NA) ETL to those with a planar TiO2 ETL (Chapter 3).On,the investigations of the perovskite active layer, mixed-cation and mixed-halide perovskite was applied into three,relevant works: (1) I optinized and maximized the grain size of the perovskite active layer (Chapter 2); (2) I studied nano-,structured hybrid perovskite fims and their light-harvesting enhancement (Chapter 6): (3) I investigated the thermal,properties of mixed-cation perovskite thin films to understand their improved thermal stability compared to,methylammonium lead iodide (MAPbi3) perovskite (Chapter 4). In addition, I studied passivation methods to alleviate the interfacial charge recombination and to improve the stability of perovskite solar cells (chapter 5)., Dans cette thèse de doctorat, je me suis concentré sur l'optimisation et les stratégies concernant la couche de transport d'électrons (ETL), la couche active à base de pérovskite hybride et leurs interfaces dans les cellules solaires fonctionnelle,de pérovskite. En ce qui concerne l'étude des ETL, j'ai réalisé deux travaux : l'un porte sur la comparaison d'une architecture simplifiée de cellules solaires planaires à base de pérovskite sans ETL avec celle d'un ETL plan en TiO2 (décrit au chapitre 2) ; un autre travail porte sur la comparaison des cellules solaires à base de pérovskite avec des nanocolonnes de Ti02(NA) orientées à celles comportant simplement une ETL de TiO2 plane et non nanostructurée (chapitre 3). Lors des recherches sur la couche active de pérovskite, la pérovskite à cations mixtes et aux halogénures mixtes a été utilisée,dans trois axes de travail distincts. J'ai tout d'abord optimisé et maximisé la taille des grains de la couche active de pérovskite (chapitre 2). Ensuite, j'ai étudié des films de pérovskite hybride nano-structurés et leur amélioration au niveau de la collection de la lumière (chapitre 6). J'ai aussi étudié les propriétés thermiques des films minces de pérovskite à cation mixte et j'ai notamment déterminé leur conductivité et leur diffusivité thermique. L'étude contribue à comprendre leur meilleure stabilité thermique par rapport aux pérovskite à base d'iodure de plomb de méthylammonium (MAPbI3) (voir chapitre 4). Enfin, j'ai étudié les méthodes de passivation pour atténuer la recombinaison de la charge interfaciale et pour améliorer la stabilité des cellules solaires de pérovskite (chapitre 5).

The thesis aims to develop microsystems gas sensors for selective detection of ammonia (NH3) and hydrogen sulfide (H2S). These sensors are dedicated to the control and production as well as security in the management of anaerobic digestion plants dedicated to bio-energy production. To do this,two types of chemical sensors were used for gas sensing. The first objective is the development of sensitive materials able to react with gaseous molecules and the physico-chemical characterization of matérials. Thus our choice focused on a polyaniline-based polymer composite (PANI-MWCNT/PS/PMMA) for the detection of NH3 and metal oxide (V2O5) nanoparticles for the detection of H2S. These materials were synthesized and exposed to gases to evaluate their sensors performances. Such an evaluation has given a proof that these materials were the best choice to respond positively to the target gases since they have shown higher sensitivity and stable responses even in a humid environment. In addition, these materials also showed a partial selectivity towards target gas., La thèse vise au développement de microsystèmes capteurs de gaz sélectifs à l’ammoniac (NH3) et au sulfure d’hydrogène (H2S). Ces capteurs sont destinés au contrôle, à la gestion de la production et la sécurité dans les usines de méthanisation. Pour ce faire, deux types de capteurs chimiques utilisant des matériaux sensibles différents ont été investigués pour la détection des gaz. L’objectif premier est la mise en oeuvre des matériaux sensibles capables de réagir avec les molécules gazeuses et la caractérisation physico-chimique des matériaux. Ainsi, notre choix s’est focalisé sur un composite polymère à base polyaniline (PANI) de nanotubes de carbone multiparois et de deux polymères pour la mise en forme et la stabilisation (PANI-MWCNT/PS/PMMA) pour la détection de NH3. Quant à la détection de H2S, nous avons opté pour des nanoparticules d’oxyde métallique (V2O5). Ces matériaux ont été synthétisés, et exposés aux gaz en définissant un protocole de mesure pour évaluer leurs performances. L’évaluation des performances de détection de ces capteurs a montré qu’ils présentent une sensibilité et une stabilité de réponses même en milieu humide. De plus, chacun des matériaux a également montré une sélectivité partielle vis-à-vis de gaz cible et une certaine indépendance vis-à-vis de gaz interférents.

Here we report unprecedented large-scale fabrication of ordered arrays of piezoelectric epitaxial quartz nanostructures on silicon substrates by the combination of soft-chemistry and three cost effective lithographic techniques: (i) laser transfer lithography, (ii) soft nanoimprint lithography on Sr-doped SiO2 sol-gel thin films and (iii) self-assembled SrCO3 nanoparticles reactive nanomasks. Epitaxial α-quartz nanopillars with different diameters (down to 50 nm) and heights (up to 2000 nm) were obtained for the first time. This work proves the control over the shape, micro-and nano-patterning of quartz thin films while preserving its crystallinity, texture and piezoelectricity. This work opens up the opportunity to fabricate new high frequency resonators and high sensitivity sensors relevant in different fields of application.

The detection of organophosphorous compounds remains one of the major issues to be addressed in order to prevent chemical threats. For that purpose, the need of sensitive and selective sensor is of great importance. In this study, we decided to use microcantilevers whose principle is based on the modification of their resonance frequency due to molecule adsorption onto their surface. The idea of this project is to combine the nanostructuration and functionalization to improve cantilevers performances. Thus, the microcantilevers surface was nanostructured using solvothermal method with TiO2 nanorods to increase their adsorption capacity and then, cantilevers sensibility. Those nanostructured cantilevers was then functionalized by molecules able to specifically bind OPs molecules to improve sensors selectivity. The nanostructuration and functionalization were first optimized on silicon substrates before being transferred onto cantilevers. A parametric study was performed to evaluate the impact of synthesis conditions on the nanostructures morphology. The molecules loading on TiO2 nanorods was evaluated and the best nanostructure was reproduced on cantilevers to carry out detection tests of an OPs simulant. Specific investigation was also performed to understand the interaction mechanism between OPs and TiO2.; La détection d’agents organophosphorés (OPs) demeure l’un des problèmes majeurs à résoudre pour prévenir la menace chimique. A cet effet, la recherche de capteurs sensibles, sélectifs, portables reste d’un grand intérêt. Dans ce projet, notre intérêt s’est porté vers des microleviers dont le principe repose sur la modification de leur fréquence de résonance due à une adsorption de molécules à leur surface. Un concept associant la nanostructuration et la fonctionnalisation a été étudié pour améliorer les performances des leviers. Ainsi, la surface des microleviers a été nanostructurée par voie solvothermale avec des nanobâtonnets de TiO2 pour accroitre leur capacité d’adsorption et leur sensibilité. Ces leviers nanostructurés ont ensuite été fonctionnalisés par des molécules (alcool, oxime) susceptibles de se lier spécifiquement aux OPs pour améliorer leur sélectivité. La nanostructuration et la fonctionnalisation ont été préalablement optimisées sur des surfaces modèles avant d’être transférées sur des leviers. Une étude paramétrique a été menée pour évaluer l’impact des conditions de synthèse sur la morphologie des structures. La capacité de greffage des nanostructures a été évaluée et les meilleures structures ont été reproduites sur les leviers pour les tests de détection d’un simulant d’OPs. Des études plus spécifiques ont également été menées pour comprendre les mécanismes d’interactions entre les OPs et le TiO2.

International audience; We report here the successful design of 0–3 type nanocomposites where 30 nm ferromagnetic metallically conducting cores of manganite La0.66Sr0.34MnO3 (LSMO) are discretely distributed in an insulating silica matrix. Starting from LSMO@SiO2 core@shell nanoparticles, hydrothermal sintering process was used as a low temperature densification route (300 °C, 350 MPa, 90 min) in presence of 0.2 M aqueous sodium hydroxide solution. This process based on a pressure solution creep in the contact zones between nanoparticles allows the design of complex microstructures preventing the grain growth of the cores and the formation of interphases between the cores and the matrix.
