Kultūrinis turizmas Lietuvoje į nuoseklią sistemą nėra issivystes, o kultūros ir meno sektoriuje kultūrinis turizmas – menkai teisnaudota sritis. Trūksta bendrų iniciatyvų, keitimosi žiniomis, patirtimis, tarpinstitucinio bendradarbiavimo. Tyrime siekiama parodyti turizmo ir kultūros bei meno sektorių jungcių galimybes, siekiant bendro ekonominio ir sociokultūrinio efekto. Straipsnis analizuoja kultūrinio turizmo sampratos ir suvokimo aspektus, galimas kultūrinio turizmo plėtros kryptis. Rekomenduojama kultūrinio turizmo sricių klasifikacija, kaip galimas vadybos modelis, įgalinantis praktinį pritaikomumą. Simone de Beauvoir ir Jeanas Paulis Sartre’as Sovietų Lietuvoje viešėjo 1965-ųjų vasarą. Beauvoir trumpai aprašė šią kelionę savo atsiminimų knygoje. Filosofų porai ta kelionė nebuvo svarbi ar ypatinga, tačiau Lietuvos kultūriniuose sluoksniuose jų viešnagė buvo laikoma reikšmingu įvykiu. Tarp prancūzų porą lydėjusių lietuvių rašytojų buvo Mykolas Sluckis, kuris paskelbė išsamesnį straipsnį apie to meto pokalbius su svečiais. Beauvoir ir Sartre’o viešnagę aprašė rašytojai Justinas Marcinkevičius, Halina Korsakienė, Albertas Laurinčiukas ir Marija Macijauskienė. Kiti menininkai šį vizitą ir jo reikšmę prisiminė asmeniniuose užrašuose ir atsiminimuose: tapytojas Augustinas Savickas, literatūrologas Vytautas Kubilius, sovietinei valdžiai talkinęs poetas Antanas Venclova ir partinis veikėjas Lionginas Šepetys. Straipsnyje aptariami lietuvių prisiminimai ir interviu su liudininkais, tokiais kaip žurnalistė Birutė Liauškienė, rašytojai Kazys Saja ir Algirdas Pocius. Prisiminimai atskleidžia pagarbą viešėjusioms asmenybės ir tam tikrą kritišką žvilgsnį į praeitį, kasdienybės detales ir įvykio išskirtinumą. Lietuvius žavėjo svečių paprastumas. Nustebino, kad pora daug dėmesio skyrė medinei architektūrai Kaune ir Vilniuje. 1965 m. Lietuvos laikraščiai šiai kelionei skyrė daug dėmesio. Vėliau įvykis ilgam buvo užmirštas ir prisimintas su tam tikru nusivylimu. Tuo metu prancūzų intelektualų viešnagė suteikė pasididžiavimo ir viltį sudominti didžiųjų tautų kultūrų atstovus.

Straipsnyje nagrinėjamos kai kurios Heideggerio meno filosofijos idėjos. Mąstytojas savo egzistencinės ontologijos kontekste kritikuoja estetiką ir tradicinę meno teoriją. Meno kūrinys suprantamas kaip istoriško žmogaus pasaulio atvėrėjas. Filosofo požiūris į meno kūrinį susiejamas su jo emocijų teorija – „Befindlichkeit“ koncepcija. Teigiama, jog, integravus emocinius fenomenus į Heideggerio meno filosofiją, meno kūrinys pasirodo ir kaip komunikacijos vieta. Heideggerio meno samprata suartinama su estetika ir meno teorija. This article explores some ideas of Heidegger’s philosophy of art. The thinker criticizes traditional aesthetics and art theory in the context of his existential ontology. A work of art is understood as an opener of the historical human being‘s world. The philosopher‘s view of the artwork is associated with his theory of emotions – the concept of "Befindlichkeit". It is argued that the integration of emotional phenomena shows the work of art as a place of communication in Heidegger’s philosophy of art. Heidegger‘s conception of art is linked to the aesthetics and art theory.

Disjuncture in public space conception The paper is devoted to different aesthetic categories of the existing environment and to disjuncture between the social order, creators’ ideas and public conception of the results. Architectural design presented as a dominating subject among artistic subjects reflects development of human culture as well as regular evolution of the whole civilization. This article discusses the ongoing strengthening of civilizational imagination and civilizational self-awareness, which are currently being observed in various regions of the world, both on the political and geopolitical levels. Based on insights from Samuel P. Huntington, his ideas about the significance of religion for civilization and the interactions of civilizations are raised. This article outlines the importance of religious and artistic heritage for civilizational imagination and states that the religious heritage of imperial civilizations is always embodied in artistic forms and artistic practices, which, in turn, always have a religious feature. The main focus is on the peculiarities of the revival of the Turkish civilizational imagination, trying to explain the spread of neo-Ottoman ideology and ideas in the field of culture, while this ideology becomes the political and geopolitical instrument that forms a new Turkish identity. The image of the “collision” between Islam and Western civilizations is revealed in Orhan Pamuk’s novel My Name Is Red. The article posits this work as an example showing how artistically contemplated history becomes an important tool for strengthening the current civilizational imagination, which also has a huge religious dimension.

Straipsnyje apžvelgiamos dailės terapijos filosofinės ir psichologinės ištakos, pagrindinės nuostatos ir jų taikymo praktinės galimybės. Nagrinėjamos dailės terapijos pamatinių teorinių nuostatų sąsajos su neklasikine, gyvenimo filosofija ir įvairiomis psichopatologinėmis bei psichoanalitinėmis koncepcijomis. Ypatingas dėmesys skiriamas dėl filosofijos ir psichologijos idėjų įtakos susiformavusių požiūrių į dailės terapijos funkcijas, metodus ir praktinę reikšmę analizei. Straipsnyje siekiama išryškinti dailės terapijos metodų pritaikymo naudą ir poveikį žmogaus vidinei būsenai, jo fizinei ir dvasinei sveikatai bei savęs pažinimui. Analizuojant dabartinės dailės terapijos ypatumus, susitelkiama į meninės kūrybos procesą, kuris traktuojamas kaip vienas svarbiausių dailės terapijos dėmenų. Article reviews the philosophical and psychological origins of Art Therapy and its practical application possibilities. A special focus is given to the influence of the views based on philosophical and psychological ideas of art therapy functions, methods and practical significance. The article aims to highlight the positive benefits of the adoption of art therapy techniques and their effects on health of a human soul and body as well as a self-cognition. The focus is on a creative process, which is considered to be one of the most important elements of art therapy. The advantages of art therapy, such as a self-expression through colours, the personality in self-creation, the education of the personal creativeness and spirituality, are concisely presented in the paper.

Kuo išskirtinis lietuviškas lėlių teatras užsienio lėlių teatrų kontekste? Į šiuos ir kitus klausimus tyrinėdama Kauno valstybinio lėlių teatro situaciją atsakymų ieško teatrologė Deimantė Dementavičiūtė-Stankuvienė. What is puppet theatre in Lithuania today? Does it need to prove its existence? What basic pr oblems and challenges await Lithuanian puppet theatres and puppeteers? What features distinguish Lithuanian puppet theatre from foreign theatre? These questions are answered by the theatre critic Deimantė Dementavičiūtė-Stankuvienė, who looks at the present situation of Kaunas State Puppet Theatre.

Nuo pat Sovietų Sąjungos griūties ir geležinės uždangos kritimo menininkai reagavo į transformacijas ir dar neparašytas postsocializmo istorijas. Atsižvelgdama į sudėtingą santykį tarp socialistinės patirties ir jos analizės šiuolaikiniame mene, meno istorikė Svetla Kazalarska pristato vizualiuosius menus kaip mnemoninį žanrą, susijusį su „atminties teatrais“, kuris leidžia mizanscenomis projektuoti postsocialistinį perėjimą ir dabartį. Šiame straipsnyje, fiksuojant mnemonines technikas, naudojamas lietuvių menininkų grupės „ŽemAt“ iš Žeimių vaizdo kūrinyje Imagining the Absence (2014), yra nagrinėjamas protagonistų kūnų atvirumas prarastam ir nepažįstamam praeities dalykų tekstualumui. Per klasikinio atminties meno ir Michelio de Certeau „istoriografinės operacijos“ sampratos perspektyvą straipsnyje yra analizuojamas kūnas kaip istoriografinis rašymo įrankis, vaizduotėje perkuriant Lietuvos Persitvarkymo Sąjūdį. Remiantis dviem svarbiomis videofilmo scenomis, yra aptariama, kaip kūnas rašo „mnemonines topografijas“.

Meno ir politikos tema yra pasikartojanti tema retrospektyviai vertinant sovietinio meno palikimą, kuriame priespaudos ir rezistencijos vaizdai vaidino ženklų vaidmenį. Vakaruose dėmesys Sovietų Sąjungos marginaliam ar pogrindiniam menui radosi Šaltojo karo metu, drauge su vienpusišku kultūrinio gyvenimo SSRS supratimu. Straipsnio autorė, atsižvelgdama į disidentines, politines ir menotyrines sovietinio meno interpretacijas, analizuoja kaip ginčai dėl totalitarizmo Vakaruose, kurie dažniausiai atitiko Šaltojo karo debatus ir Rytų Europos disidentų mąstymą, suformavo postsovietinius nacionalinio meninio palikimo vertinimus. Teigiama, kad politinis santykis su totalitarine praeitimi, kaip ir daugelyje postsovietinių sričių, kur netolima praeitis buvo radikaliai pervertinta, paveikė Lietuvos menininkų ir kritikų požiūrį į vietinį sovietinį meną. Kadangi Sovietinėje Lietuvoje akivaizdus pogrindinio meno stygius, retrospektyvinis politinių kategorijų naudojimas yra probleminis. Ypatingai tarptautiniuose reprezentavimuose, kuriuose sudėtingas menininkų santykis su valdininkija kaip įprasta buvo priskirtas nonkonformizmo fenomenui, tai galų gale užtemdė skirtumus tarp Lietuvos sovietinio meno konteksto ir Rusijos sovietinio meno situacijos. Tuo tarpu lokalios totalitarinės kultūros interpretacijos padeda prieštarauti nusistovėjusiems požiūriams apie galios, kultūrinės politikos ir ideologijos susijungimą po komunistinės represijos vėliava. By taking into account dissident/political and art historical interpretations of Soviet art, I analyze how polemics about totalitarianism in the West, which generally corresponded with Cold War debates and Eastern European dissident thought, shaped the post-Soviet evaluations of national artistic legacies. It is argued that the political relationship with the totalitarian past, like in many post-socialist areas where the immediate past was subjected to radical re-evaluation, affected Lithuanian artists’ and critics’ attitude towards local Soviet art. Because of an obvious lack of underground art in Soviet Lithuania, however, the retrospective usage of political categories here became problematic. Especially in international representations, the complexities of artists’ relationship with officialdom came to be routinely assigned to the phenomenon of non-conformism; this eventually obfuscated the differences between the Lithuanian Soviet art contexts as somewhat different from the Russian case.

Straipsnyje, remiantis lyginamosios analizės metodu, atskleidžiami meno sampratos savitumai, išryškėję kinų tradicinėje meno filosofijoje. Glaustai aptariamos Vakarų tyrėjų koncepcijos tyrinėjant kinų meno savitumą, išryškinamas glaudus meno ir tos civilizacinės erdvės, kurioje jis formuojasi, ryšys. Atskleistas tradicinės kinų meno sampratos nevienalytiškumas, būtent parodoma esminė skirtis tarp darbinės praktinės veiklos formų, artimų amatams, ir rafinuotinesnių, su dvasine kūrybine veikla susijusių meninės kūrybos formų, būdingų „kilniems žmonėms“. Iš čia kyla aukštesniosioms meno formoms būdingi ryškesni dvasiniai, intelektualiniai ir etiniai aspektai. Aptariami metodai, stiliai, mokyklos ir kryptys. Parodoma, kad tradicinėje kinų kultūroje kuriantis mąstytojas ir menininkas siekia išplėsti savo įtakos lauką, buria apie save bendražygius, mokinius ir kuria savo mokyklą. Analizuojami įvairūs išoriniai ir vidiniai veiksniai, darantys įtaką pagrindinių kinų meno mokyklų ir krypčių sklaidai. Article utilizes a comparative method: to the analyze the Chinese concept of art and the peculiarities of traditional Chinese philosophy of art; to summarize the results of Western inquirers in the field; to highlight the peculiarities of its concepts as the offsprings of the cooperation of art and cultural space; to explicate the heterogeneity of Chinese art concept; to discuss the methods, styles, schools and trends in Chinese music, poetry, calligraphy, painting; to explain how traditional Chinese artist creates, teaches and establishes his own school; to inquire into the various external and internal factors which influence the development of the main Chinese art schools and trends.

Šiame straipsnyje apžvelgiama lietuvių ankstyvojo socrealistinio meno raida. Pagrindiniai keliami klausimai: kokia brandaus modernizmo išugdyto didžiojo pasakojimo vieta to meto lietuvių meno pasakojimuose? Remiamasi Jeano-François Lyotard’o knygoje „Postmodernus būvis“ (1979) suformuluota brandžios modernybės ir didžiųjų pasakojimų krizės koncepcija, ši koncepcija straipsnyje praplečiama sociologinėmis Antony Giddenso ir kultūrosofinėmis Wolfgango Welscho interpretacijomis. Į diskusiją apie socrealizmo artefaktus įtraukiamas ir alternatyvaus modernizmo diskursas, kuris didžiojo pasakojimo problemai suteikia svarbių suklastotos istorijos, pakeisto herojaus argumentų. Socrealistinio laikotarpio menas svarstomas modernizmo, alternatyvaus modernizmo koncepcijų, nuasmeninimo ir įasmeninimo, kolektyvizmo ir tautiškumo tendencijų fone. Vaizduojamojo meno (skulptūros, tapybos) pasakojimai vertinami literatūros pasakojimų akiratyje. This article deals with development of Lithuanian art of early socialist realism. The key issues of the article are following: what is the position of the Grand Narrative which was formed by mature modernism in narration of Lithuanian art of the then? The article refers to the concept of crisis of mature modernity and grand narratives. This concept has been formulated in Lyotardʼs book "The Postmodern Condition" (1979). The article expands this concept by sociological interpretations of Antony Giddens and historical philosophical interpretations of Wolfgang Welsch. Also the discourse of alternative modernism has been included in the discussion with artefacts of socialist realism which to the problem of the Grand Narrative renders importants arguments of fake history and altered character. The art of socialist realismʼ period has been considered against a background of concepts of modernism and alternative modernism as well as that of the tendencies of depersonalization, personification, collectivism and nationality. The narratives of the fine arts (sculpture, painting) have been evaluated from the point of view of literary narratives.

Leonardas Andriekus (1914–2003) – a poet, art conservator, social and cultural activist, editor, teacher, Franciscan monk and a priest. The goal of this article is to analyze Leonardas Andriekus’ ideas from a position of the theology of culture presenting him as an art conservator. The objectives of the article are the following: 1) to present the theology of art as an interdisciplinary subject; 2) to analyze L. Andriekus’ principles of art fostering. The methodology of the theology of culture was used in the article. The method of the theology of culture enabled to have a look at the individual’s cultural activities closer: not only from the secular perspective, but also from the positions of the Church institutions. The theology of art as an interdisciplinary subject states that a person is not eliminated from the divine creative process. Although a man is not given to create a new material, but he/she can fully transform an already existing one, thus realizing him/herself by using the creative spark given by God. Each such positive creative transformation anticipates the transfiguration. The art fostering by L. Andriekus had a practical character, hoping to preserve the artworks of the Lithuanian emigrants for future generations. He did not have any aims to collect such artworks for selfish motives or hide them from the public. He also did not have an intention to sell such works of art profitably in the future. On the contrary, whenever it was possible, L. Andriekus used to exhibit them in St. Anthony’s High School in Kennebunkport, and then in Adomas Galdikas’ Cultural Center Gallery. L. Andriekus, as a Franciscan monk, tried to encompass not only religious, but also Lithuanian ethnic art. His interaction with various representatives of art, art fostering and editing the cultural magazine "Echoes" ("Aidai") is a reason to believe that L. Andriekus knew the concepts of the theology of culture perfectly. He also used to collect the works of art which, with their substantial creative potency, should have anticipated the preponderance of goodness in the process of transfiguration.

Straipsnis yra Friedricho Nietzsche’s filosofijos recepcijos istorijos analizės, pradėtos Lietuvos mąstytojų pirmųjų pažinčių su šio filosofo idėjomis nepriklausomybės laikotarpiu tyrinėjimais, tęsinys. Paskutiniaisiais prieškario ir karo metais parašytuose kūriniuose atsiranda nuodugnesnių įžvalgų apie nyčiškąją filosofiją, šiuo laikotarpiu išleidžiamas pirmasis viso Nietzsche’s kūrinio vertimas. Straipsnyje analizuojama Nietzsche’s meno filosofijos recepcija, gana rimtas jo kūrybos sampratos pristatymas, jo moralės filosofijos idėjų analizė karo metais Vilniaus universitete apgintoje filosofijos daktaro disertacijoje, jo kūrybos vertinimai karo metų periodikoje. This article continues the historical analysis of the philosophical reception of Friedrich Nietzsche that began in the Independent Lithuania. The Lithuanian works that appeared in the last years before and during WW II are marked by deeper insights into the philosophy of Nietzsche and by the first fully translated work of Nietzsche. From doctoral theses of Vilnius University, the article analyzes the reception of Nietzschean philosophy of art, the quite solid presentation of his concept of creativity, and the analysis of his ideas on moral philosophy. The article also presents the evaluation of Nietzsche’s works in the press of the period.

Straipsnyje susitelkiama ties ideologijos „materialumo“, meno ir gyvenimo kaip vieningos ideologinės akcidencijos idėja, taip pat pasitelkiamas konkretus pavyzdys - Alytaus DAMTP (Duomenkasių ir psichodarbininkų sąjūdžio) - (anti)meninio aktyvizmo reiškinys. Ideologija yra specifiškai materiali, nes ji veikia per valstybines institucijas, taigi apčiuopiamą materiją. Jacques’as Ranciėre’as kalba apie politikos vidinę struktūrą, jos branduolį, kurį galima būtų pavadinti „estetiniu“. Jį galima suprasti kaip bazinę struktūrą (dez)organizuojančią erdvės, laiko ir bendruomenės juose veiklos būdus. Nors iš tiesų ideologijos „nėra“, ji reiškiasi per subjektą ir subjektui, tiksliau, jį sukuria, interpeliuoja per tam tikrą situaciją arba kasdienius praktinius ritualus, kartu per materialias būvio formas ir institucijas, sukurdama ideologijos „materiją“ arba „substanciją“. Tačiau ši materija kartu yra ir „falsifikuojanti sąmonė“, klastojanti (kasdienę) situaciją plačiąja prasme, kurdama reguliavimo ir susvetimėjimo, reginio visuomenę. Kasdienybės falsifikavimu užsiima moderni biurokratija, taip pat interneto tinklo ne- tokratija. Vis dėlto, nepaisant virtualėjančios spektaklio visuomenės galios, neišnyksta socialinių santykių intersekcionalumo problema, kitaip sakant, vėl iš naujo iškyla ne tik socialinės klasės klausimas apskritai, tačiau smulkiaburžuazinės socialinės klasės, kuriai dažniausiai atstovauja menininkai, intelektualai, „įveikos“ esminis klausimas. O ši įvelka galima, anot Walterio Benjamino, tik „išdavus“ savo socialinę klasę, proletarizavus mąstymo būdą. Panašia logika bando vadovautis ir Alytaus DAMTP, balansuojantis tarp socioideologinio aktyvizmo ir performatyvios socioestetinės veiklos. Straipsnyje bandoma į Alytaus DAMTP veiklą pažvelgti pro kai kurių kairiųjų teoretikų idėjų prizmę. The article focuses on the materiality of ideology and the idea of art and life as an ideological accident, using the specific example of the (anti)artistic activism of the Alytus DAMTP (Duomenkasių ir psichodarbininkų sąjūdis, Eng. the Coalition of Data Miners and Psycholabourers). The article discusses the specific situational concept of art blending in with life and generating alternative meanings. Ideology is specifically material. This means that even though this ideology does not ‘exist’, it manifests itself through the subject and for the subject, to be more precise, it creates the subject, questions it through a certain situation or daily practical rituals and through material forms of being and institutions, creating the material or substance of the ideology. However, this matter is also a “falsifying conscience” that institutionalises and falsifies the (daily) situation in the broader sense, creating a regulatory structure of alienation and spectacle. Ideology is related to the logic of theatre performance (let us not forget that there is always a relationship between theatre, acting and daily life). A “great accumulation of plays” is generated, where everything that was ever experienced withdraws into the area of representation. Besides, the play or spectacle is not simply an entirety of events, but the social relationship established by these events between individuals made to act out a certain (social) role. The falsification of daily life is undertaken by the modern bureaucracy and the netocracy of today’s worldwide web. However, despite the tendency for societal power to become more virtual, softer and an ever more streamlined falsifying conscience, the intersectionality of social relationships is still an issue, in other words, the problematic question of social class emerges once again. This also means the reemergence of political/aesthetic situations such as the importance of a method of revealing this falsifying conscience. Withdrawing from the level of daily falsification, the “societal play”, and the transferral of expression to the proletariat level or the level of direct action was a relevant issue for many (anti)ar- tistic activist movements after World War II, from the Lettrists and situationists up to the early (political) fluxus movements and present-day activism/sabotage tactics. Jacque Rändere discusses the internal structure of politic and its core, which can also be called “aesthetic”. It can be interpreted as a certain internal and basic structure that (dis)organises and questions space, time and society’s activity within these dimensions. Certain political/aesthetic situations reemerge, such as the importance of a method of revealing this falsifying conscience. One of the methods that an artist or intellectual can use to escape this falsification, is by betraying their (small) bourgeois social class. The Alytus DAMTP invokes a similar logic in its activity. It could be called a complex or network art strike or a similar activist phenomenon.

This article aims to examine the changes in concept, development and practices of community art in the Western culture from the end of 20th century to the beginning of 21st century, and based on theory of dialogical aesthetics by Grant H. Kester as well as using methodical examples of practicing artists, such as Jeanne van Heeswijk and the cultural association "Artway of Thinking" (Stefania Mantovani and Federica Thiene), evaluate cases of community art projects taking place in Lithuania, especially focusing on the initiatives of the creative project "Friendly Zone". The notion of Grant H. Kester’s dialogical aesthetics as a dialogue-based socially-engaged creative practice helps to reveal forms and directions of socially-engaged art practices which are relevant today. Examining the project "Friendly Zone", which takes part in Šančiai (district of Kaunas, Lithuania), we can see a clear example of creative practice based on dialogical aesthetics with an ethical access to local inhabitants and their concerns. By working together with well-known community and socially-engaged art experts, Vita Gelūnienė and Edmund Carroll aim to apply methods of dialogical creativity: co-creative diagram of "Artway of Thinking" displays four stages of activities. It starts with self-recognition and placement of each member of the team as well as naming their functions in collective practice. Later, the context (place) is explored and monitored. Then, ideas are generated and implemented, the results of which are integrated. The artists also use the principle of a "headquarter" from Jeanne van Heeswijk’s practice, creating a certain meeting and dialogue-based point (house or inflatable tent) in public art projects. The text points out these advantages of the project: long-term effects and artists’ residency in the area. The long-term project "Friendly Zone", taking place in a single district, allows to test different creative methods involving public art, creates an environment of trust between local inhabitants and art initiatives taking place in the area. The process of examining and observing becomes a permanent task and, even, a way of life for the people involved. Nonetheless, difficulties and challenges also exist: the passivity of the members of local community towards certain activities as well as communication with both the outside (the press) and the local community. In both cases, this model of activity is not seen as the end in itself. Thus, it is necessary to strengthen the role of mediators by including people with skills of public relations into the team.

Kinijoje užgimusi ir savitai daugelyje Rytų Azijos kraštų išsiskleidusi kaligrafija yra itin subtilus šios civilizacijos estetinis fenomenas. Šis reiškinys gali būti tyrinėjamas kaip aukščiausią vietą kinų ir japonų menų hierarchijoje užimanti ir anksčiausiai savo estetinius principus suformavusi vaizduojamojo meno rūšis, sudėtinis tapybos ir kitų menų komponentas, taip pat tradicinis rašto ženklų mokslas, jungiantis ideografinio rašto genezę ir jo raidos istoriją. Iš čia kyla išskirtinė hieroglifinio simbolio, kitokio nei senovės egiptiečių, svarba. Jis išauga iš archajiškų pirmapradžių vizualinės kultūros sluoksnių ir asocijuojasi su įvairiais žmogų supančio pasaulio objektais, reiškiniais, vaizdais. Kaligrafijos meno esmę sudaro iš kinų rašto perimtos ir laisvai kūrybiškai interpretuojamos ideografinės struktūros, svetimos vakarietiškam alfabetiniam raštui. Kiekvienas kinų rašto ženklas reiškia tam tikrą sąvoką. Hieroglifas, turintis simbolinę, o ne fonetinę reikšmę, gali būti stilizuoto gyvūno, daikto, geometrinės formos pavidalo ir reikšti tiek konkretų daiktą, tiek abstrakčią idėją ar veiksmą. Vadinasi, kinams jų rašmenys tiesiogiai asocijuojasi su įvairiais juos supančio gamtos pasaulio objektais, reiškiniais, vaizdais. Todėl kinų tautos rašmenų pagrindą sudarantis hieroglifas išsiskiria ypatingu semantiniu daugiaprasmiškumu, situatyvumu ir kontekstualumu.

Italų režisieriaus Romeo Castellucci (g. 1960) spektaklis „Apie Dievo sūnaus veido koncepciją“, pristatytas tarptautiniame teatro festivalyje „Sirenos“ 2012 m. rudenį, Lietuvoje sukėlė visuomenės diskusijas, kuriose svarstytas meno ir religijos santykis, aiškintasi meno esatis, meniškumo ribos. Literatūrologė Elvina Baužaitė, žvalgydama žiniasklaidos šaltinius, vertina Castellucci spektaklio recepciją meno ir postmodernizmo teatro teorijų kontekste. The play by the Italian theatre director Romeo Castellucci (b. 1960) On the Concept of the Face, Regarding the Son of God, presented at the Sirenos International Theatre Festival in September 2012, provoked public discussion in Lithuania about the relationship between art and religion, the essence of art, and its boundaries. Elvina Baužaitė, a literature specialist, evaluates the reception of Castellucci’s play through an exploration of media sources, in the context of art and theories of postmodern theatre.

Taikant mokslo filosofijos prieigą, straipsnyje nagrinėjamas meninio tyrimo fenomenas. Tekste siekiama išsiaiškinti, kas yra meninis tyrimas ir kokios metodologinės prielaidos įgalina atsirasti naujai tyrimo rūšiai. Naudojant logines priemones, bandoma nustatyti formalias meninio tyrimo ribas. Loginę prieigą pratęsia įvairių mokslo klasifikacijų analizė, kuri parodo galimas meninio tyrimo sampratos variacijas, priklausančias nuo monistinės arba pliuralistinės mokslo sampratų. Formali prieiga papildoma ir derinama su trijų mokslo filosofų interpretacijomis, kuriomis siekiama parodyti mokslo (tyrimo) ir meno santykių aiškinimo versijas (Rudolfo Carnapo, Thomaso S. Kuhno ir Paulo K. Feyerabendo), argumentuojančias už meninio tyrimo (ne)galimybę. Referring to the philosophy of the scientific approach, the current article analyses the phenomenon of artistic research (AR). The author of the text seeks to explain what artistic research is and what methodological presuppositions enable us to establish this new kind of research. Applying the logical tools, the formal limits of artistic research are estimated and determined. The logical approach is supplemented by the analysis of different interpretations of artistic research based on the monist or pluralist approaches to the classification of sciences. The formal approach is combined with three interpretations by philosophers of science (Rudolf Carnap, Thomas S. Kuhn and Paul K. Feyerabend), arguing the pros and cons of the possibility of artistic research.

Bendruomenę įtraukiantis teatras laikomas ne vien šiuolaikinio teatro sudedamąja dalimi. Šis specifinis teatrinis judėjimas priklauso platesniam meno praktikų laukui, kuriame svarbiausia kūrybine sąlyga laikomas bendruomenės dalyvavimas ir į(si)traukimas į kūrybinį procesą. Ankstyvuosius bendruomenę įtraukiančio teatro projektus tradicinė teatrologija buvo linkusi vertinti kaip estetinių tikslų nesiekiančią bendruomenės saviraiškos formą, tačiau bendruomenės dalyvavimu ir bendradarbiavimu grįsti kūrybiniai projektai laipsniškai virto tokiu pastebimu šiuolaikinio teatro praktikos dėmeniu, kad šio reiškinio tyrimai neišvengiamai įsiskverbė ir į šiuolaikinės teatrologijos diskursą. Pastaraisiais dešimtmečiais skirtingose pasaulio vietose nuvilnijusi bendruomenę įtraukiančio teatro projektų gausa skatina teatrologus permąstyti tradicinius teatro reiškinių vertinimo kriterijus ir ieškoti naujų analizės metodų, tinkamų šio reiškinio tyrimams bei interpretacijai. Šiame straipsnyje siekiama aptarti bendruomenę įtraukiančio teatro fenomeną, pristatyti šiam reiškiniui nusakyti vartojamus terminus, išskirti ryškiausias dalyvavimu ir bendradarbiavimu grįstas kūrybines strategijas, padedančias menininkams kurti kolektyvinius naratyvus, išreiškiančius tam tikrų bendruomenių problematiką, interesus bei lūkesčius. Lietuvos teatro kontekste bendruomenę įtraukiančio teatro projektai nėra įprastas reiškinys, tačiau vienokiu ar kitokiu lygmeniu bendruomenės įsitraukimą, dalyvavimą, bendradarbiavimą skatinančių kūrybinių projektų pasitaiko. Community-based theatre is not only an integral part of contemporary theatre. This specific theatrical movement belongs to the wider field of such art practices, in which the participation of the community and community involvement into artistic process is considered to be the most important creative condition. Community-based theatre is an effective means for communities to share collective stories, get involved into social and political dialogue and break down the exclusion of marginalized groups. In recent decades, community-based theatre became such a widespread field that it encourages theatre researchers to rethink traditional criteria of performance analysis and to search for new analytical tools suitable for the analysis and interpretation of this phenomenon. This article aims to discuss the phenomenon of community-based theatre and to present such participatory and collaborative creative strategies which help artists create collective theatre narratives expressing problems, interests and beliefs of certain communities. Community-based theatre projects are not widespread in Lithuanian art context. However, there are some creative projects which promote community involvement, participation and collaboration between artists and community members to some extent. The article refers to theoretical issues of community-based theatre and focuses on two case studies: the production "Pro Memoria Šv. Stepono 7" ("Pro Memoria Saint Stephen’s Street, Number 7"; theatre company Miraklis, directed by Vega Vaičiūnaitė in 1995 in collaboration with multicultural community of one quarter of Vilnius old town) and the performances by Kaunas dance theatre Aura "Tylus ėjimas" ("Silent walk", 1999) created in collaboration with elders, "Kelias" ("Road", 2001) created in collaboration with disabled, "re-gi-ne-re-gi" ("seedo-not-see", 2002) created in collaboration with blind people.

The paper examines the potential of community art projects as a participatory research method and as a tool for neighbourhood regeneration. A thematisation of everyday micro-processes, which takes place in contemporary urban studies, involves the question about the research tactics, sensitive for urban details and micro-processes, bodily and emotional experiences, the experience of togetherness and the emerging networks of trust and mutual help. By recognising a sensitivity, flexibility and productivity of various art forms used as the research tactics and for the articulation of findings, the urban researchers enrich their toolbox with an “arts-based approach” as an integrated part of participatory action research. This paper explores a case of a community art initiative, developed in the wooden neighbourhood of Snipiskes (Šnipiškės, in Lithuanian) by the residents and a Vilnius-based interdisciplinary group “Laimikis.lt”, which has been working as researchers and art-activists in the neighbourhood since 2012. The community art initiative “Street Mosaic Workshop” works both as an informal communication platform and as an artistic micro-tool for revitalisation of the neighbourhood. The feeling of nationhood, purification of its shape provide a conventional shelter when one tries to find out whether mutual agreements between the government and society exist, whether relationship between illusions and reality, between abilities and ambitions is adequate. Do our actions, ideas and expectations have any relation to broadening the horizons of today? What priorities do we have? Has national identity that has crossed the border of ethnolinguistic project become a common need, something that we care about? Do we still think that culture is something to be taken care only tomorrow, something we will leave to future generations to consider? – asks the author of the article.

Teigiama, kad asmenybės silpnumas bent iki tam tikros ribos netrukdo reikštis talentui, nors galiausiai būtent šių vertybių sąveika nulemia tiek kūrėjo santykį su realybe, tiek jo kūrybos rezultatą ir požiūrį į tuos, kuriems tas rezultatas adresuojamas. Autorė laikosi normatyvinės pozicijos, teigdama, kad jeigu menininkas yra stipri asmenybė, jo kūrinių prasmė, jo misija, jo atsakomybė prieš visatą jam rūpi labiau negu pasisekimas rinkoje. Teigiama, kad jei kūrėjas nestokoja talento, jis galiausiai laimi grumtynes su rinkos konjunktūra. Šiame straipsnyje nagrinėjamas spekuliatyviojo realizmo ir meno santykis. Teigiama, kad nors naujasis judėjimas išpopuliarėjo kuratorių ir menininkų kontekstuose, vieno jo pradininkų Quentino Meillassoux knygoje „Po baigtinybės“ siūloma pozicija nepalieka galimybių paties meno legitimavimui. Spekuliatyvieji realistai stengiasi įveikti koreliacionizmo prieigą, pagal kurią tarp mąstymo ir būties egzistuoja būtinas ryšys. Kartu tokia pozicija nenumato galimybės meninėms praktikoms pasiekti realybės sferą – sukurdamas ką nors nauja, menininkas nuolatos pažeidžia absoliutaus pasaulio autonomiją. Tačiau atmetus spekuliatyvųjį realizmą grindžiantį reduktyvų racionalizmą, Meillassoux postuluojamas „kontingencijos būtinybės“ principas gali tapti meninės prieigos orientyru. Quentin Meillassoux and Radical (Im)possibility of ArtKristupas Sabolius AbstractThis paper addresses the problematic relationship between Speculative Realism and art. Although the newly-born movement became popular among curators and artists, one finds no space left for legitimization of creative practices in Quentin Meillassoux’s “After Finitude”. By criticizing the so-called correlationism which privileges the necessary binding between being and thinking, Speculative Realism would not grant art a possibility of the access to the reality of things-in-themselves. By creating something new, artistic practices constantly violate the absolute autonomy of the world. On the other hand, if rejected the reductive rationalism of speculation, the principle of “the necessity of contingency”, as postulated by Meillassoux, could provide some guidelines for artistic take on the issue of reality. Through the radicalization of contingency in creative practices and the restitution of the value of the virtual, one could perform the transformation into Otherness and not-speculative confrontation with the realm of Hyper-Chaos.Keywords: speculative realism, art, contingency, virtuality.

Juozo Laivio 2005 m. išleistą atvirukų rinkinį „Galerija greitkelyje“ ir 2007 m. išplatintą idėjų sąsiuvinį „Vilnius – Europos kultūros sostinė 2049. Menininko komentarai“ vienija panaši forma – abu leidiniai pristato surinktas meno kūrinių ir kultūrinių renginių idėjas, kurių, pasak paties autoriaus, „niekada nebus bandoma įgyvendinti“. Pateikiamos idėjos yra pabrėžtinai neįmanomos dėl savo absurdiškos, groteskiškos formos ir nerealistiškų užmojų. Tačiau tuo pat metu negalima teigti, kad šie projektai tėra savitiksliai humoristiniai menininko vaizduotės žaidimai. Laivio siūlomos neįgyvendinamos idėjos veikia greičiau kaip satyriniai šiuolaikinės Lietuvos ir Europos politinės bei kultūrinės vaizduotės komentarai, neakivaizdžiai nurodantys į kai kurių populiarinamų politinių vizijų praktišką neįgyvendinamumą ir gigantomaniją. Straipsnyje analizuojama, kokiomis priemonėmis ir kokius šio „supermodernybės“ konteksto aspektus menininkas pašiepia savo „nebūtuose“ projektuose. The article analyses two idea art projects, "Vilnius-Kaunas Highway Gallery" (2005) and "Vilnius, A European Capital of Culture 2049. Artist’s Comments" (2007), by the Lithuanian conceptual artist Juozas Laivys. These projects take the form of collections of absurd ideas that will never be implemented as actual works, and yet, they obviously resemble the actual visions of Lithuanian politicians, namely, those of the Vilnius-Kaunas urban agglomeration and the transformation of Vilnius into a major European cultural centre and touristic destination by means of the European Capital of Culture programme. Therefore, the author of the article takes the approach of interpreting both projects as examples of a dystopian political satire in the field of minimalist contemporary art. Political satire traditionally employs allegorical speaking about a specific place and the present situation via imaginary, non-existent places and/or fictional time; thus, Laivys’s projects as cases of site-specific art can be associated with the French anthropologist Marc Augé’s notion of a non-place. Like in Augé’s theory, the place in Laivys’s unrealistic visions, albeit seemingly having geographic coordinates, is rather a construct enveloped in excessive information and PR narratives, which does not fit in the real physical space and the present time. It is a place that offers a fabricated historical and contemporary identity imposed by political imagination. Presenting various ideas as proposals or purportedly implemented projects, Laivys mocks the negative aspects of this imagination: megalomania, predisposition to fake authenticity, orientation to short-term façade representation, activation of the public’s magical thinking rather than common sense, censorship of an inconvenient content, promotion of mediocrity etc. From a broader perspective, his ironic allegories are a critique of the rampant political and economic instrumentalisation of culture.

Straipsnyje analizuojama gatvės meno subkultūros ištakos, raida ir įtaka jaunimo socializacijos procesui. Pateikiama Lietuvoje gatvės meną profesionaliai plėtojančių menininkų apklausos duomenų analizė, aptariami socialinio meninio projekto ypatumai , įvertinama patirtis dalyvaujant projekte „Cred Ability: kurti ir akredituoti mokymo programą, teikti menus Europos kalėjimuose“. Daroma išvada, kad gatvės meno projektai yra optimalus socialinės rizikos grupių jaunimo įtraukties bei nusikalstamumo prevencijos būdas. The aimof the study is to reveal the street art projects as youth crime prevention measures options. Tasks: 1) to review the evolution of street art in social terms; 2) to analyze street art project expert experience in organizing and conducting social arts projects with disadvantaged youth in Lithuania. Qualitative study conducted in 2014 using a semi-structured interview method. Conclusions: In the twenty-first century we are witnessing an evolving street art and it’sdynamic conquestof cities in the world. Hip-hop style and fashion is a massively popular among young people, so it is important to use street art activities in social work with young people and to help young people understand the difference between the aesthetic forms of street art, professional graffiti and vandalism, criminal activity, and how these different choices lead to different outcomes. Street art projects as a social art practice and prevention of delinquent behavior practice helps young people to distract from unacceptable behaviour and to optpositive socialization. Lackof social workers professional approach to street artculture, lack of managerial skills of the street art advocates and lack of dissemination interfere with projects’ optimal development and continuity. Study results imply an insight about theemerging need to train professional social art specialists.

Straipsnyje aptariamas vienas iš XX a. meno raidos pokyčių – meno kūryba kaip klausimų: „ar egzistuoja esminės meno kūrinio ypatybės?“, „kuo meno kūrinys skiriasi nuo nemeninės tikrovės?“, „kas konstituoja meno kūrinį?“ svarstymas. Dalis šiuolaikinio meno kūrinių mums byloja tik apie meno prigimtį. Stebint biotechnologinio, socialinio, dalyvavimo meno kryptims priklausančius kūrinius žiūrovui neišvengiamai kyla klausimas, kokios priežastys leidžia šiuos kūrinius laikyti menu. Kūryba apima svarstymus, kas gali būti menas, ir pastabas apie meno istoriją. Kūriniai suderina patį meno kūrinio kūrimą ir meno turinio, prasmės, formos ir stiliaus kvestionavimą. Menas yra suvokiamas kaip paties meno kūrinio statuso ir paties menininko vaidmens tyrinėjimas. This article discusses one particular change in the development of Art in the twentieth century – the creation of Art as a reply to such questions as "Are there any substantial features of the work of art?", "What is the difference between the works of art and nonartistic reality?", "What does constitute the work of art as such?" Some contemporary artworks tell us merely about the nature of art. The attempt to conceive the works that belong to Biotechnological art, Social art, and Participatory art includes also a reflection on the question about the reasons which allow attributing these works to art. Creation includes consideration of what is possible in the art and notes on art history. The artworks combine the creation of artwork as such and questioning its content, meaning, form, and style. Art is perceived as an investigation of the status of the art object and the role of the artist himself.

International audience; The present article aims to examine a set of creativity-related concepts, dimensions, patterns, different ways and techniques of generating ideas, developing talents, funding opportunities as well as protecting intellectual property rights, and, in particular, how all these factors affect the economy and sustainable business. To continue, there is the importance of intercultural dialogue analysed while opening cooperation and partnership opportunities in various regions, mobility opportunities among artists as well as developing skills, creativity, innovations, and entrepreneurship. Entrepreneurship emerges as an important factor in a rapidly changing world of business and transforming creative ideas into a value-added. There is a significant number of university studies, creative businesses and/ or entrepreneurship programs tackled via presenting programs at universities, while the symbiosis 'Business-Arts' brings new colours to the image of creativity: investments in human resources, trainings, researches, lifelong learning and entrepreneurship open up new opportunities of merging arts and business and concentrating a wide range of artistic and business talents in one area (incubators and/ or clusters of arts) where arts and business complement each other. Thus, the research question: how does the creativity affect a sustainable business performance in Lithuania? A solid Global Entrepreneurship Monitor methodology and data mainly for the year of 2011 (including some newest trends for 2012) were used in order to light up the main problems and trends of enhancing the creativity in Lithuanian companies while creating a higher value-added and competitive advantage.

Dizaineriai pripažįsta marketingo ir strateginio planavimo svarbą mados dizaine, o inovacijos siejamos su medžiagomis, technologijomis, komunikacijos galimybėmis, kompiuterine grafika bei begale kitų aspektų. Vis dėlto su specifiniais verslo aspektais susijusių žinių ir gebėjimų (marketingo, teisės, mokesčių, vadybos, ekonomikos, finansų, verslumo, verslo kūrimo ir vystymo, derybų bei technologijų) mados dizaino specialistams itin trūksta. First insights on the symbiosis of art and business leave the impression that it is the combination of very activities of different fields, types and purpose that complement each other in unpredictable ways. This brings a variety of cooperation and interaction possibilities. Both arts and business are multi-factored conceptions; therefore, it is necessary to focus on various aspects, related to the simultaneous development of each, as well as the impact of their cooperation. The research question: what are the interaction points between art and business and how could the synergy effect be achieved between these areas? To reach the purpose of the current publication – which is the examination of the symbiosis of art and business in fashion design – first of all the present situation in Lithuanian creative industries is overviewed, followed by the revelation of the main terms related to the symbiosis of arts and business; then the innovation processes in arts are tackled and the main patterns of the fashion design industry are presented, terminating by the description of the methodology and results of qualitative interviews. The publication is a good example of scientific efforts in initiating debates on synergetic effects between arts and business.

Tekstilės menininkės Laimos Oržekauskienės vaidmuo Kauno ir Lietuvos meniniame lauke yra esmiškai svarbus. Ji nuo XX a. 9 deš. pabaigos Kauno dailės institute ėmė diegti tekstilės kaip vaizduojamojo meno, sprendžiančio vėlyvojo modernizmo, konceptualizmo, o vėliau – šiuolaikinio aktualaus meno klausimus ir problemas. Įtaigaus tikėjimo meno paskirtimi ir galia suartinti žmones per estetines patirtis ir angažuotumo palaikyti kritinio diskurso atmosferą ugdymo proceso metu dėka Oržekauskienė per dvidešimt penkerius meninės ir pedagoginės veiklos metus pati subrendo kaip unikali menininkė, aktualizuojanti [moters] tapatumo, lyčių konfliktų, sakralumo ir sekuliarumo sankirtų klausimus. The article strives to reveal Laima Oržekauskienė’s artistic and teaching strategies and their influence on the creative choices of the new generation of textile artists. From the start of her teaching at Kaunas Art Faculty in 1987, Oržekauskienė consistently developed a practical teaching programme based on analytic thinking and personal responsibility, she employed the anti-utilitarian principles and analytic cognition attributed to fine arts and spread the notion that textile is also another media for independent, outstanding and current art work. Reviewing the themes and nature of the creative work by Laima Oržekauskienė, it could be said that for her, materials and techniques are a conceptually chosen media and the weaving process is a meditational denotation of existence. Laima Oržekauskienė sacralises the creative process and its results. She believes that the purpose of art is to speak in universal and eternal categories. She bestows art with aesthetic and moral meanings. The main themes of her creative work are identity, self-analysis, gender identity and gender interaction, romanticising the past and transcendent tension denoted through minimal means of expression. These features allow one to consider Laima Oržekauskienė as an artist who takes the lead from conceptual principles and confirms them in her creative work. Considering the work by the new generation textile artists, such as Almyra Weigel, Vita Gelūnienė, Loreta Švaikauskienė, Lina Jonikė, Inga Likšaitė, Monika Žaltauskaitė – Grašienė, and Bronė Neverdauskienė, who studied at the Textiles Department of Kaunas Art Faculty during Oržekauskienė’s time as the head of Department and who have in recent years taught at the Textiles Department, the embracing and continuation of professor Oržekauskienė’s creative thinking is evident. The emerging main themes of the works by young textile artists – evolving, [female] identity, simulacra reality and the questioning of stereotypes, and the principles of their actions – appropriation, interdisciplinary media, collaboration, relational aesthetics, socially engaged arts – reveal the scope of critical thinking and social engagement as the main axis of creative philosophy. It could be said that the epicentre of this discourse oriented textiles (sometimes transcending textiles boundaries) in the field of Kaunas artistic textiles has been revolving around Laima Oržekauskienė for the past two decades. The unique professor’s teaching, her inspiring belief in the primal purpose of art – to connect people in their aesthetical experiences – influenced each of the mentioned Textiles Department graduates to find their individual narrative, connected to the current art field, using different techniques, crossing the boundaries of textiles or abandoning the material factor altogether. These artists, in collaboration with other artists, creative personalities, scientists and viewers, denote art as the process willing to create new circumstances or as the time which needs to be experienced together. Through the efforts of Laima Oržekauskienė and the teaching direction of Kaunas Textiles Department created by her, textiles became one of the media and forms of contemporary and current art.

Straipsnyje dvilypė meno kūrinio prigimtis aiškinama formulės ir formos santykiais. Pasitelkiama H. Focillono dvasios formų samprata, grindžianti meno ir kūrėjo ryšį. Remiamasi lietuvių meno ir humanistikos pavyzdžiais. Daugiausia dėmesio skiriama praėjusio amžiaus aštuntojo dešimtmečio pradžiai, kai straipsnyje keliama problema buvo gyviau jaučiama. Profesorius lituanistas Donatas Sauka ir garsus matematikas akademikas Vytautas Statulevičius vienu metu ir viename leidinyje yra buvę artimos minties bendrakeleiviai, siekę formulės ir gyvos formos dermės. Dar jauna poetė Onė Baliukonytė intuityviojo ir intelektualiojo prado santykį kėlė kaip problemą. Ryškėjo mintis, aktuali ir šiandien, kad vidinės formos intensyvumas saugo kūrinį nuo formulių, nuo jų mechaninio perėmimo. Arvydas Šliogeris, į humanistiką įžengęs iš technologijų, iš formulių lauko, žymi radikalią formulės ir formos perskyrą. Article deals with the dual nature of a work of art, which is perceived as a relations of formula and form. There is a reference to H. Focillon’s conception of the forms of soul as the base of relation between art and author. Examples from Lithuanian art and humanistics are mentioned. There is a focus on the beginning of the seventies of the twentieth century when the article’s problem was of greater relevance. At the same time and in the same publication, both the Lithuanian philologist professor Donatas Sauka and the famous mathematician academician Vytautas Statulevičius shared similar ideas when striving for harmony between a formula and an alive form. Onė Baliukonytė, a young poet at that time, raised the relation between the intuitive and the intellectual aspects as a problem. There was an emphasis on the idea which is also relevant today – the intensity of the inner form protects writings from formulas and their mechanical interception. Arvydas Šliogeris, a representative of technologies and formulas, as a humanistic author marks a radical separation between formula and form.

Straipsnis skirtas litvakų dailininkų kūryboje išryškėjusių tautinio tapatumo apraiškų tyrinėjimui. Iš daugybės į Vakarus pasitraukusių dailininkų detalesnei analizei pasirenkami du, Marcas Chagallas, Theo Tobiasse'as, atspindintys skirtingus litvakų istorinės atminties ir tautiškumo sklaidos tipus. Pirmojo kūryboje ryšys su į mistiškumą linkusią žydų ir lokalesnę litvakų chasidų kultūros tradiciją buvo visa aprėpiantis, antrojo - per skausmingai suvoktą diasporos tragediją ir vaikystės „prarastojo rojaus“ prisiminimus. Straipsnio pradžioje glaustai aptariamas savitos litvakų dailės tradicijos tapsmas, išryškinamas Vilniaus ir Vitebsko dailės mokyklų auklėtinių įnašas į Vakarų modernistinės dailės tradicijos tapsmą. Analizuojami litvakų dailininkų ryšiai su LDK kultūrinėje erdvėje išsiskleidusią litvakų kultūros tradicija, pastarosios savitumą apsprendė įvairūs išoriniai ir vidiniai veiksniai. Daug dėmesio skiriama litvakų dailininkų kūrybinės biografijos, stilistinės raidos ypatumams, jų talentų sklaidai prancūzų moderniosios dailės aplinkoje, taip pat susitelkiama į šių dailininkų kūrybos tautinių motyvų sąsajų su žydų tautos kultūros, religijos ir meno tradicijomis tyrinėjimą. Atskleidžiamas minėtų dailininkų įnašas į Vakarų modernistinę dailę ir savitos modernios žydų tautinės dailės tradicijos tapsmą. The article discusses the contribution made by Litvaks, i.e. Jews from the cultural domain of the Grand Duchy of Lithuania, to the famous Ėcole de Paris. Litvak graduates from various art schools in Vilnius and Vitebsk emerged at the center of Western modern art during the second wave of the Ėcole de Paris by forming the nucleus of this school. The main focus of the article is the contributions made by Chagall, Kikoine, Tobiasse, and other Litvak painters to Western modern art. The article examines the influence that diverse creative sources, aesthetic attitudes, environments, Jewish traditions, and museum studies undertaken by these artists had on their style and on the characteristics of their plastic language. It is shown that, despite their spontaneous desire to break free from the influences of the Jewish religion, community, and tradition that had strictly regulated their lives, these Litvaks could not escape from their childhood memories or from the distinctive Litvak culture to which they belonged and from whose social order, marked by the poetry of Jewish mysticism and everyday life, they derived the superficially French images that they created. These artists' nostalgic view of the world, their sense of tragedy, their choice of unusual models, and, most importantly, their extraordinary manner of artistic expression as well as their distinctive use of color and system of imagery all came from their lives during childhood and youth, from their experiences of the self-enclosed Orthodox Jewish community of Lithuania. Thus, Litvaks brought to Paris their own unique experience and a distinctive, clear-cut sense of color and form; they expanded and enriched the stylistic panorama of French art; they contributed many new dramatic and tragic motifs that had not been characteristic of earlier French art; and they formed the principles of national, secular Jewish art. The greatest achievement of these artists is the integration of the distinctive worldview, mysticism, and symbolism of the Jews into modern Western art by making the Litvak substratum an inseparable part of this tradition.

Ankstyvasis geležies amžius arba romėniškasis laikotarpis – įdomiausias laikotarpis baltiškojo ornamento stiliaus studijoms. Ornamentuoti ažūriniais motyvais papuošalai – puošniausia romėniškojo laikotarpio papuošalų grupė, nuolat sulaukianti tyrėjų dėmesio. Tačiau Latvijos teritorijoje aptiktų papuošalų kiauraraščio ornamento išsamioms studijoms nebuvo skiriama pakankamai dėmesio. Latvijos teritorijoje rasta nedaug papuošalų, dekoruotų ažūriniu ornamentu. Ir tik keli jų visiškai išlikę. Išlikusius papuošalus galima būtų suskirstyti į tokias grupes: antkaklės su kabučiais, tvirtinamais prie paties antkaklės lanko; išlikęs antkaklės fragmentas rastas; antkaklės su kabučiais, pritvirtintais pusmėnulio formos grandinėlių laikikliais; Latvijos teritorijoje tokia antkaklė rasta Saukas Razbuki kapinyne; krūtinės papuošalai, kuriuos sudaro keletas grandinėlių eilių su laikikliais, kurie smeigtuku tvirtinami prie drabužių. Latvijos teritorijoje vienas toks papuošalo fragmentas rastas Saukas Razbuki; krūtinės papuošalas, padarytas iš ažūrinių plokštelių. Tai – Kalnaziverti aptiktas papuošalas. Be to, šiai grupei skirtini ir atskiri grandinėlių laikikliai bei skirstikliai, kabutis iš Mūkukalns, taip pat greičiausiai diržo sagties fragmentas iš Asotės piliakalnio; rateliniai smeigtukai. Šių dviejų tipų smeigtukų randama palyginti nemažai; rozetiniai smeigtukai iš Maskatuži kapinyno pietiniame Kurše; apskritų segių aptikta tarand tipo kapuose šiaurinėje Latvijoje. Šios segės gali būti suskirstytos į keturias chronologines grupes. Kompleksiniai papuošalai, sudaryti iš kelių elementų, kurie formuoja ažūrinį ornamentą, pasižymi skirtingomis plokštelių formomis. Šios plokštelės būna stačiakampio ar trikampio formos. Kalnazīverti aptiktas krūtinės papuošalas sudarytas iš trijų skirtingų formų plokštelių: stačiakampio formos, trikampio formos ir labai siaurų pailgo stačiakampio formos plokštelių Vyrauja rombo formos ornamentas, kurį sudaro įžambiai susikertančios linijos ar persikertančios banguotos linijos Lygiagrečios puslankio formos linijos jungiamos tarpusavyje trumpais vertikaliais brūkšneliais. Pasitaiko pavienių zigzago ar žuvies žvyno formos motyvų ir dažnai – iš dalies susiklojančių apskritimų motyvas, būdingas daugeliui visoje Latvijos teritorijoje aptinkamų papuošalų. Išskirtinesnis būtų įgaubtašonio rombo motyvas. Šis motyvas būdingas rateliniams smeigtukams. Galima teigti, kad apskritimo bei įgaubtašonio rombo motyvai, atsiradę kaip pavieniai puošybos elementai, vėliau plačiai paplito. Apskritoms plokštelėms būdinga dekoravimo kompozicija, pabrėžianti plokštelės centrą. Pasitaiko ne tik rato, bet ir žvaigždės ar sūkurio motyvas. Svastikai būdingos kelios formos. Pirmoji – ištiesintais peteliais. Taip dekoruota didelė emaliu puošta apskrita segė iš ir segė iš Viduramžių kapinyno Siksäla kapinyne Estijoje. Analogiškas motyvas aptinkamas ant apskritų bei trikampių segių iš Dniepro vidurupio regiono. Latvijos medžiagoje svastiką banguotais peteliais galima pamatyti ant pusmėnulio formos grandinėlių laikiklio, pritvirtinto prie antkaklės iš Saukas Razbuki. Analogišką svastiką, kurios peteliai tarsi transformuojasi į sūkurio formą, matome stačiakampėje plokštelėje iš Andulių ir segėje iš Pangėsų (Lietuva). [...]

Straipsnyje, pasitelkiant interpretacinę hermeneutikos teoriją, svarstoma besitrinančių ribų tarp mokslo ir meno problema. Tokių ribų trynimosi užuomazgos įžvelgiamos XIX a. romantinėje hermeneutikoje, įtvirtinusioje dvasios mokslams būdingą supratimą vietoj gamtamokslinio aiškinimo. Joje, nors dar tebesiekiama objektyvumo, moksliškumo, tačiau šių konceptų reikšmė jau yra gerokai pakitusi, susijusi su psichologinės empatijos, kongenialumo, vienalaikiškumo su supratimo „objektu“ principais. Svarstomas dar ryškesnis ribų tarp mokslo ir meno trynimasis XX a. ontologinėje hermeneutikoje, analizuojant įvykusį pokytį hermeneutiniam supratimui būdingoje trinarėje struktūroje tarp suvokėjo, teksto ir teksto autoriaus, dėmesį perkeliant prie paties teksto, atveriančio į mokslinio teisingo supratimo siekius neredukuojamą, be galo interpretuoti skatinantį prasmės perteklių. Su šiuo pertekliumi siejamas įcentrinis interpretacinės tiesos siekis analizuojamas kaip integraliai suvienijantis hermeneutinę filosofiją su menu – grožine literatūra. Svarstomas filosofijos meniškėjimas, kai filosofijos „esmė“ pasirodo taikliau išreiškiama literatūros kalba, ir meno filosofiškėjimas, kai literatūros kalba pasirodo giliau save atskleidžianti būdama susieta su hermeneutikos filosofijos „esme“. Taip pat straipsnyje analizuojamas filosofijos ir meno susipynimas postmoderniojoje hermeneutikoje, kur jis įgyja kitokią prasmę, nes nebesiejamas su įcentriniu tiesos siekiu. Gvildenamas tam tikras meninis filosofavimo stilius, reiškiantis mėgavimąsi išcentriškai dauginamais požiūriais į pasaulį, atsirandančiomis vis naujomis dissensus formomis ir jomis nehomofonizuojamai išplečiamu laisvės horizontu. Analizuojamos tokio stiliaus apraiškos edifikacinėje pragmatinėje R. Rorty’o filosofijoje svarstant joje išryškėjančią redeskripcijos galią. Article uses the theory of interpretative hermeneutics and looks into the question of the boundaries between science and art. Such collision of the boundaries is noticed in the romantic hermeneutics of the 19th century’s. The article considers even a stronger friction of the boundaries between science and art in the 20th century in ontological hermeneutics due to the shift in the trinary of the perciever, the text, and the author, when the attention moves to the text, which opens the surplus of meaning. This surplus is related to the attempt to reach centrepetal interpretative truth that integrally unifies hermeneutic philosophy and art – fiction literature. The article considers philosophy becoming art like, when the philosophical "essense" is expressed with more precision by literary language; and likewise art becomes philosophical, when the literary language discloses itself in relation with the "essence" of hermeneutical philosophy. Also the article analyses how philosophy and art are interwoven in postmodern hermeneutics, where it acquires a different meaning, because it no longer strives at centrepetal truth.

Straipsnyje dalyvavimo ir bendradarbiavimo aspektu analizuojamas menininkų Nomedos ir Gedimino Urbonų inicijuotas projektas „Pro-testo laboratorija“ (nuo 2005 m.). Sukurtas kaip judėjimas už viešųjų ir kultūros erdvių išsaugojimą Vilniaus mieste, projektas tuo pačiu siekė tyrinėti galimas ir negalimas pilietinio protesto formas konkrečiame socialiniame kultūriniame kontekste. Straipsnyje projektas analizuojamas šiuolaikinio meno kontekste, teigiant, kad jame pasitelkta bendradarbiavimo strategija įgalino „Pro-testo laboratoriją“ ne tik kalbėti apie problemas, susijusias su viešąja erdve ir viešuoju interesu, bet juos sukurti – o tai lėmė projekto įtaigumą ir šiuolaikinio meno, ir politinio aktyvizmo kontekste. Remiantis ir kartu abejojant Rudi Laermanso meninės kolaboracijos idėja išanalizuojama kompleksiška projekto bendradarbių ir dalyvių tipologija, išryškinant nuolatinės dialektikos tarp aktyvizmo ir pramogos kuriamas reikšmes. Taip pat aptariama, kaip projektas funkcionuoja šiuolaikinio meno institucijų kontekste, iškeliant anonimiškumo ir autorystės, kolektyviškumo ir vienbalsiškumo problemas ir apibrėžiant autorystės atkūrimo gestą. Article deals with participatory and collaborative aspects of the Pro-test Lab project, initiated by artists Nomeda and Gediminas Urbonas (started in 2005). Founded as a movement for public and cultural spaces in Vilnius City, the project was seeking to research possible and impossible forms of public protest in a highly specific social and cultural context. The project assumes the perspective of artistic theory. It assumes that the collaborative strategy was the means that enabled the Pro-test Lab to actually found and perform public space and public interest rather than merely raising problems around them. The collaborative strategy subsequently led to its success and compelling status in the context both of contemporary art and political activism. Using and at the same time questioning the notion of artistic collaboration by Rudi Laermans, the article analyses a complex typology of collaborators and participants in the Pro-test Lab. The article concludes with the issues of anonymity and authorship, collectivity and unanimity, brought up by the contradictory way in which the project operates in contemporary art institutions.

Vandos Zaborskaitės sovietmetyje sukurta įtakingiausia metodologinė prieiga suformavo mūsų šiuolaikinius santykius su grožine literatūra. Straipsnio tikslas yra aptarti ir įvertinti jos literatūros metodologijai skirtą darbų dalį, kurią sudaro trys knygos „Eilėraščio menas", „Literatūros mokslo įvadas" ir ontologijos „Poetika ir literatūros estetika" parengimas. Oponuodama oficialiajam vulgariajam sociologizavimui, ji laikėsi iš Vinco Mykolaičio-Putino perimtos humanistinės hermeneutinės literatūrologuos tradicijos, akcentavusios meno psichologinio ir estetinio poveikio (Erlebnis) reikšmę žmogaus gyvenime ir tęsusios idealistinės estetikos sukurtą panestetinę meno koncepciją. Paveldėta genetinių, istorinių ir estetinių literatūros tyrimų tradicija jos buvo papildyta interpretacijos meno, fenomenologijos ir formalizmo nuostatomis. Zaborskaitė laikėsi ganėtinai pliuralistinės, bet savaip aiškiai suformuluotos prieigos prie literatūros, kuri leistų derinti teksto suvokimo istoriškumą su logiškumu, genetinę kritiką su interpretacine imanentine. Svarbiausiu literatūros studijų tikslu ji nurodė kūrinio individualumo suvokimą, kuris ne tik motyvuojamas meninės struktūros vientisumo aprašymu, bet ir apribojamas bei konkretizuojamas autoriaus prasmių akiračio tyrimu. Įvesdama ir racionalizuodama atskiro kūrinio interpretavimo praktiką, ji, kaip Emilis Staigeris, laikėsi kūrinio estetinio poveikio ir kritikos retorinės įtaigos nuostatų. One of the most influential approaches to literary methodologies worked out by Zaborskaitė in the Soviet period made solid foundations for our contemporary fiction understanding. The aim of the article is to consider and assess the part of works dedicated to literary methodology by Vanda Zaborskaitė. That part consists of three books - "The Art of Poem", "Introduction to Literary Science" and preparation of the anthology "Poetics and Literary Aesthetics". Opposing to the official vulgar sociologization of literature she followed the humanistic hermeneutical literary tradition taken from Vincas Mykolaitis-Putinas which stresses the psychological significance of art impact (Erlebnis] in human life and continues the pan-aesthetical art conception created by idealistic aesthetics. The inherited tradition of genetic, historical and aesthetic research of fiction was enriched by interpretation art, phenomenology and formalism approaches. Zaborskaitė maintained rather pluralistic but in a way clearly defined attitude to literature allowing to combine historicity with logics, genetic criticism with interpretational immanent. Her reading goal was to perceive the individuality of a literary work which is not only motivated by description of its artistic structure integrity but limited and concretized by investigations of its author's outlook. By introducing and rationalizing the practice of interpretation of a separate literary work she, in the same way as Staiger, pursued aesthetic and rhetoric suggestions of criticism.

Įvairių humanistikos sričių ir tiksliųjų mokslų specialistų augantis susidomėjimas euristinėmis, meninės kūrybos, meno psichologijos ir meninės kūrybos procesų psichologijos problemomis, pastebimai išaugęs paskutiniaisiais XX a. dešimtmečiais ir XXI a. pradžioje, yra sąlygojamas daugybės skirtingų mūsų laikmečiui būdingų veiksnių. Iš jų išskirsime tik kelis svarbesnius. Pirmiausia jis išauga iš reakcijos į niveliuojantį postmodernios suprekintos masinės kultūros apraiškų poveikį, iš kurio siekia išsivaduoti kūrybingos asmenybės ir kritiškai mąstantys intelektualai. Su šia reakcija tiesiogiai siejasi ir naujų humanistinių tendencijų sklaida postmodernioje kultūroje. Kita vertus, jis išplaukia iš dabartinei humanistikai būdingo susidomėjimo subjektyviomis kūrybinės veiklos problemomis. Ir pagaliau - iš įvairių sričių mokslininkų siekimo geriau pažinti giliuosius euristinius žmogaus veiklos aspektus, tai yra tuos impulsus, motyvus skatinančius ar apribojančius konkrečios asmenybės kūrybiškumą. Straipsnyje aptariamos etinio pobūdžio dilemos, kylančios dėl atsitiktinai rastų ir aiškių atribucinių nuorodų nebeturinčių artefaktų iš Klaipėdos krašto nekropolių (paminklų ar jų dekoro dalių, epitafinių lentų, kryžių fragmentų ir t. t.). Jos susijusios su tokių radinių identifikavimu, paveldosauginio ir muziejinio statuso nustatymu (saugotini, eksponuotini ar beverčiai), galima panauda (kaip mokslinių bei technologinių tyrimų objektų ar memorialinių ženklų, restauravimo darbų žaliavų) ir jų likimu. Patirtis rodo, kad dalis šių artefaktų yra vertingas žinių apie XIX–XX a. vidurio meistrų naudotas medžiagas, dekoro detales, įgūdžius, technologinius ir koloristikos sprendimus šaltinis. Aiškių atribucinių požymių neturintys artefaktai gali būti panaudoti instrumentinei analizei: keramikos, metalo, dažų, glazūrų sudėčiai ir struktūrai nustatyti; tačiau visų pirma tokio artefakto likimą nulemia jį radusiojo (priglaudusiojo, demontavusiojo ir kt.) asmens moralinis apsisprendimas. Article focuses on ethical dilemmas caused by accidentally found artefacts from the necropolis of Klaipėda Region that no longer have clear attribute references. In the research into confessional heritage, ‘accidentally found necropoles artefacts’ are understood as all artefacts that may relate to the cemeteries, individual tombs, or cenotaphs (tombstones or their parts, epitaph tables, whole or broken crosses, parts of fences, etc) whose immediate location may be other than a cemetery, the circumstances of their removal from the location are not clear, and they frequently can not be related to a specific buried person. The examples in the text prove that the artefacts may become an object of research and a source of new facts about the confessional heritage of the region and its technological and artistic development. due to the said artefacts, we learn about the existence of one or another style of decorations, the symbols, and the custom-related, artistic, and technological traditions; about the links of the cemetery artefacts with seemingly unrelated areas of technologies, construction, and art, etc. occasionally the artefacts can be used as raw materials for restoration. Regretfully, due to a weak current system of monument protection, moral undecidedness of the majority of the public, and narrow utilitarian aims we are not able to properly assess and understand the value of such findings. Therefore, it is important for the findings to be assessed by specialists from different areas of science, art, and technology: historians, restorers, art scientists, archaeologists, heritage conservationists, materials scientists, etc. On the other hand, the artefacts remind of the uniqueness of the city and the region, their rich history, and, regretfully, frequently of its tragic periods and events: therefore, they should be accepted as memory signs of people of different nationalities and confessional groups who lived in the region, whereas the type and the physical state of the artefacts should be just a secondary attribute of their value. However, due to a poor state, such artefacts seldom find way to museums, while those accidentally found in construction sites are neglected, sometimes buried in the ground, or remain ‘unnoticed’. Still, the issue of cemetery artefacts that have no clear attribute references in Klaipėda and its Region remain topical to date and will be topical in the future, as it is caused by decadeslong destruction of cemeteries. Therefore, the accidentally found artefacts become, and will become, the sources of different moral dilemmas and decisions: what to do with them, especially if the fact of their existence will extend the duration of a project of the territory development, etc. we argue that the findings and the circumstances of their discovery should be registered and processed, and at least minimal accounting should be systematized and possibly institutionalized at least at the level of the city municipality or elderships. The article appeals to the institutions of Klaipėda Region that have any political-administrative or economic levers and should feel the responsibility for the collection, registration, and storage of the above-named signs of regional identity and for their use in a broad sense.[...]

Anekdotai yra susipynę su gatvės, viešosios erdvės, patirtimi, taigi jie nebėra tik nesuinteresuoti pasakojimai. Jie liudija norimų ir kartu įsivaizduojamų tvarkų modelius. Anekdotas lyg socialinis pranešimas, lyg politinė užuomina, lyg trikdanti abejonė. Kas šiame anekdote pranešama? „Kas yra geriausia? Yra trys geriausi dalykai: vokiška tvarka, lietuviški lašiniai ir rusiška degtinė.“ Nuo karo metų žinomas plačiai paplitęs anekdotas, šiek tiek modifikuotas kitais pavidalais, kursuoja neoficialiu lygmeniu daugelį vėlesnių dešimtmečių. Bet kas įdomiausia, kad šis teminis pavidalas populiarėja ne tik Lietuvoje, vo­kiškos tvarkos ilgesys itin gajus Baltarusijoje ir net Rusijoje. Neatsitiktinai paminėta gatvės kaip viešosios erdvės sąvoka. Jei mes dar neturime agoros, tai mes turime gatvę. Kas tai yra? Mes gal šių dienų gatvėje esame pakeliui į agorą, bet ir tame pakeliui nutinka įdomių dalykų. Taigi grįžkime į mūsų gatvę. The subject of the article is visual works. Creating and restoring, arts and dream: try to imagine by drawing on numerous cultural and visual experiences. Insight justifies the creative visual elements. This is what we see, this leads to our experience of taking interest. Theoretical approach interacts with vision, with the brightness and exciting pallor, and visual images go one after another. R ecalling carries us to oblivion from the images and image areas, the whole or only fragments of which we are. Arts is something seen by trying to link with the area. Imagination is like (self)creation of the world, like complex visual puzzle, like never- ending search for unfound or lost elements of appearance. Search for appearance is often the search for worldview as well, because the world has become a confrontation. It is said that we are afraid of images and constructs. We are afraid of images and constructs not because of their illustrative character, brightness, or sophistication. Visual arts, film, video and photography not only create extra or restore missing reality, they indicate that creation is related to our interactions.

The article analyses an anonymous text about the death of Andrzej Lipski of the Grabie coat of arms (1572-1631), the bishop of Cracow and the chancellor of the Crown, one of the most influential politicians at the times of Sigismund III Vasa, an ardent supporter of the king and of the clergy’s struggle for tithes. The single surviving copy of the text was found in the records of the court of Krzysztof II Radziwiłł, the great hetman of Lithuania and the Vilnius voivode, the leader of Lithuanian protestams. The author of the article traces the origin of the text, trying to discover the motifs behind its publication and connections with historical facts. She also describes its literary form, which indicates that it was intended as a pasquinade. In conclusion she hypothesises that this and similar descriptions of disgraceful death could have been used in ideological struggles, in this case between the dissident opposition and Sigismund Ill’s court party.

Laikas tapyboje - plati ir daugelio diskusijų susilaukianti tema. Vis dėlto vizualinės semiotikos tyrimuose laiko aspektas paprastai lieka u/gožtas erdvinės sąrangos, erdvinių aspektų analizės. Dailės tyrimuose gali atrodyti nuoseklu ir legitimu laiko matmenį apskritai eliminuoti kaip nerelevantišką. Tačiau keliant klausimą, kaip vis dėlto laikas gali būti aktualizuojamas tapyboje, atsiveria nemažai skirtingų perspektyvų. Šiame straipsnyje aptariamas laikas Šarūno Saukos tapyboje, paveikslą traktuojant kaip uždarą baigtinį tekstą ir analizuojant figūratyvinj jo lygmenį. Nesiekiama atskleisti bendro, visą menininko kūrybą apgaubiančio laiko matmens arba įvardyti visų galimų laiko tapyboje apraiškų, bet analizuojama, kokiu būdu laikas pasirodo nejudančiame vaizde, vaizduojant judančias figūras. Išskiriamos trys strategijos. Pirmiausia aptariami du judėjimo vaizdavimo principai, sietini su XIX a. pab. - XX a. pr. fotografijoje naudotomis judesio fiksavimo strategijomis. Pirmuoju atveju judesys išskaidomas atskirais momentais (arba „kadrais"), kurie išdėsomi nuoseklioje „prieš tai - po to" grandinėje; antruoju - atskirais momentais išskaidytas judesys užlaikomas viename kadre, kuriant nepaliaujamo judėjimo įspūdį. Galiausiai prieinama prie Saukos tapyboje gana dažnai naudojamo motyvo, modifikuojančio šias strategijas ir kuriančio savitą judėjimo įtaigą. Šiuo atveju nuoseklioje grandinėje išdėstomos viena į kitą panašios figūros, kurios įgyja ambivalentišką tapatybę - būdamos sustingusios viename momente, jos tuo pačiu metu juda paveikslo erdve: iš numanomo „prieš tai" į numanomą „po to" laike. Time in painting is a wide and much discussed topic. However, in the domain of visual semiotics, time is often neglected and the priority given to the spatial qualities of visual texts. Moreover, it might seem consistent and legitime to eliminate the time dimension from the analysis of painting altogether, considering it irrelevant. However, when raising a question of how it is possible to actualize time in art, different perspectives might open up. This article discusses time in the paintings of Šarūnas Sauka, regarding each painting as a closed and finite text and analyzing its figurative level. The aim is neither to reveal the overall time dimension of Sauka's creative work, nor to name every possible manifestation of time in painting, but rather to examine how time is introduced into a motionless image while representing figures in motion. Three strategies are discussed. First, two different strategies are examined that might be associated with the techniques of capturing movement developed in photography in late I9,h - early 20th centuries. The first strategy divides movement into separate moments (or "snapshots") that are then ranged into a coherent "before - after" sequence. The second strategy keeps the separate moments in one single frame thus creating an impression of ceaseless movement. Finally, a specific motif, rather common in Sauka's painting, is analyzed. It modifies the first two strategies and creates a peculiar way of suggesting movement. This third strategy creates a continuous sequence of figures that are similar to each other and thus acquire an ambiguous identity. They are - at the same time - frozen in a single moment and moving through the space of the painting: from a presumable „before" to a presumable „after" in time.

Skulptorius ir dailėtyrininkas Arūnas Kazys Kynas gimė ir gyvena Vilniuje. 1981 m. jis sukūrė Mažosios Lietuvos rašytojos ir lietuvybės puoselėtojos Ievos Simonaitytės (1897-1978) medinę skulptūrą (130 x 140 x 60 cm). Tais pačiais metais kūrinys eksponuotas Respublikinėje vaizduojamosios dailės parodoje. Jai pasibaigus, iš autoriaus įsigytas kūrinys (nupirktas už 1800 rb.) papildė Lietuvos dailės muziejaus šiuolaikinės lietuvių skulptūros rinkinį (Inv. Nr. S-1503, Ap-1633). Skulptūrai kurti buvo panaudota nepakankamai išdžiūvusi mediena, dėl to susidarė didelės medienos nuodžiūvos, skulptūros dalys deformavosi, atsivėrė plyšiai. Į Prano Gudyno restauravimo centrą atgabenta skulptūra buvo išsiskaidžiusi į keturis blokus. Straipsnyje aptariami skulptūros restauravimo darbai, tyrimo ir restauravimo metodai. Autoriai teigia, kad viena iš pagrindinių meno kūrinio irimo priežasčių buvo medienos fizinių savybių nepaisymas. Skulptūroms turi būti parinkta tinkamai išdžiovinta mediena; atskiros jos dalys turi gerai priglusti viena prie kitos. Taip pat svarbu teisingai parinkti medienos ruošinius (išilginius ir skersinius). Visi šie veiksniai didina skulptūros vientisumą, apsaugo nuo deformacijos ir užtikrina meno kūrinio ilgaamžiškumą. Sculptor and art critic Arūnas Kazys Kynas was born and lives in Vilnius. In 1981 he created a wooden sculpture (130 x 140 x 60 cm) of Ieva Simonaitytė (1897-1978), a writer and advocate of Lithuanian culture in Lithuania Minor. This work was exhibited at the Lithuanian Republican Exhibition of Fine Arts the same year. After the exhibition ended, the work was bought from the artist (for 1 800 rubles) and was added to the Lithuanian Art Museum's collection of contemporary sculpture (Inv. No. S-1503, Ap-1633). Not dry enough wood was used for the sculpture which resulted in enormous timber shrinkage, deformation of parts of the sculpture and the formation of cracks. The sculpture was brought to the Pranas Gudynas Restoration Center split into four parts. The publication discusses the restoration of the art work as well as research and restoration techniques. The authors claim that one of the main reasons of the decay of this relatively recent art work is that in making it the physical properties of wood were disregarded. Properly dried wood should be selected for sculptures; whereas separate parts of the plains should lie snugly against each other. It is also essential to choose the parts of wood with the same fibre direction. All these factors increase sculpture's integrity, protecting from deformation and ensuring the longevity of an art piece.

Menotyrininkė Julija Petkevičienė rašo apie Eglę Kuckaitę (g. 1969) – asociatyviojo meno filosofę. Jos kūryba kupina siurrealistiškų ir erotinių motyvų, minimalistinės raiškos ir gilių turinio parafrazių. Dailininkė yra įvaldžiusi tradicines grafikos technikas, kuria instaliacijas, tapybos darbus, sienos akcijas. Jos kūryba – daugiasluoksnė ir daugiaprasmė. Be tiesioginių nuorodų, menininkė provokuoja asociacijas į asmeninių prasmių paieškas. Keleto emocinių išgyvenimų nesuderinamumas, prieštaringumas, susijęs su dvejopu požiūriu į žmogų, daiktą ar reiškinį, yra vienas pagrindinių Eglės Kuckaitės kūrybos variklių. Art critic Julija Petkevičienė writes about Eglė Kuckaitė (b. 1969), a philosopher of associative art. Her works are full of surrealist and erotic motifs, minimalist expression and deep paraphrases. Kuckaitė is a master of traditional techniques of graphic art; she also creates installations, paintings and wall actions. Her works are multilayered and many-sided. Apart from direct allusions, she provokes associations with the search for individual meaning. The juxtaposition of several emotional experiences, and the discrepancy connected with a dual view of an individual, thing or event, are Kuckaitė’s main driving forces in her art.
