Este trabalho, denominado Projeto Teckids, embasado em pressupostos construtivistas, apresenta o desenvolvimento de um conjunto de procedimentos e atividades que, além de consistir em uma inovação metodológica e educacional, busca introduzir de forma efetiva a Educação Tecnológica desde as séries inicias do Ensino Fundamental. Para isso, de forma paralela e conjunta, desenvolvemos atividades lúdicas e contextualizadas, que chamamos de situações-problema, capazes de proporcionar aos alunos de terceira e quarta séries do Ensino Fundamental a busca por soluções práticas para problemas cotidianos. Para a análise dos resultados, utilizamos uma metodologia qualitativa de estudo de casos. Essa análise nos permitiu verificar que as situações-problema desenvolvidas mobilizam nos alunos uma série de habilidades e competências individuais, compartilhadas no trabalho em grupo. Dessa forma foi possível verificar que a busca de uma solução conjunta para os problemas tecnológicos apresentados, permite que diferentes normas e valores que norteiam uma boa conduta do cidadão sejam incorporados à prática pedagógica.

este trabalho apresenta os resultados de uma pesquisa realizada com alunos do ensino médio da rede pública de São Paulo para analisar o funcionamento psico-social da sala de aula na disciplina de Física. Para tanto, utilizou-se de instrumento tipo escala de Likert desenvolvido por pesquisadores australianos e modificado por pesquisadores portugueses. Os dados foram analisados pelo método estatístico VARIMAX, no qual os fatores obtidos favoreceram a interpretação das possíveis correlações entre as concepções apresentadas no instrumento de medida. Os resultados apontam que os alunos têm concepção positiva da sala de aula e que apesar das dificuldades enfrentas se propõem ao aprendizado da disciplina

Esse artigo apresenta os resultados de uma pesquisa feita com alunos de Pedagogia a cerca da avaliação da aprendizagem no Ensino Superior. Trata-se de pesquisa de natureza qualitativa realizada com 19 estudantes do período noturno de uma Universidade do setor privado na cidade de São Paulo. Os dados foram analisados recorrendo-se à técnica denominada análise de conteúdo proposta por Bardin (1977). Os resultados apontam que a avaliação no ensino superior ainda está voltada para aspectos quantitativos e que os erros e acertos sobrepõem à análise qualitativa e à tomada de decisão. Sugerem também que a avaliação não serve apenas para orientar os alunos, mas também os professores. Com isso, remetem à necessidade de mudanças de paradigmas no sentido de que não se deve repensar apenas o método de avaliar, mas também o processo didático e a postura docente. Abstract: This article presents the results of a survey done with students of Education about the evaluation of learning in higher education. This relates to a qualitative nature survey carried with 19 students in the night period of a University of the private sector in the city of Sao Paulo. The data were analyzed using to the technique called content analysis proposed by Bardin (1977). The results indicate that the assessment in higher education is still focused on quantitative aspects and that the positive and negative points are superimposed upon the qualitative analysis and decision-making. It suggests also that the evaluation not only serves to guide students, but also teachers. Therefore, they refer to the necessity of changing such paradigms in order to rethink not only the evaluating method, but the didactic process as well as the teaching position.

O avanço tecnológico modifica hábitos e valores ao mesmo tempo em que antigos paradigmas estabelecidos têm sido colocados em xeque. O professor que antes dominava todo o conteúdo tem dado lugar a um novo tipo de profissional capaz de mobilizar os conhecimentos transformando-os em ação. Atualmente sentimos a necessidade de um professor capaz de organizar situações de aprendizagem com autonomia ao mesmo tempo em que seja capaz de refletir acerca de sua própria ação. Ao longo deste trabalho apresentaremos a forma como foi desenvolvido uma proposta de capacitação de Educação Tecnológica para professores do Ensino Fundamental, ao mesmo tempo em que pudemos classificar e analisar as opiniões que os mesmos apresentaram e como essas opiniões evoluíram durante o desenvolvimento do trabalho. Este levantamento é fundamental para se estabelecer um consenso, visto que a tecnologia é tratada de maneira bastante diversificada e na maioria das vezes de forma errônea. Abstract: The technological breakthrough modifies habits and values at the same time that the established old paradigms have been in doubt. The teacher who first dominated the entire content has given rise to a new type of professional capable of mobilising the knowledge transforming them into action. Nowadays we need a kind teacher who capable of organizing situations of learning with autonomy and the same time, someone able to reflect on their own actions. Throughout this work we will present the way that was developed a proposal of Technological Education training for teachers of the elementary school at the same time that we classify and analyse the views they had and how these views have developed during the survey. This survey is crucial to establish a consensus, since the technology is seen through fairly diversified lenses and most of the time in an erroneous perspective.

A sociedade atual passa por rápidas transformações. Antigos paradigmas estabelecidos têm sido colocados em xeque e o professor que antes dominava todo o conteúdo tem dado lugar a um novo tipo de profissional, capaz de mobilizar os conhecimentos, transformando-os em ação. Temos hoje a necessidade de um professor profissional capaz de organizar situações de aprendizagem, com autonomia para tomar decisões ao mesmo tempo em que seja capaz de refletir acerca de sua própria ação. Neste trabalho estaremos apresentando uma proposta de capacitação de Educação Tecnológica para professores em exercício no Ensino Fundamental, ao mesmo tempo em que classificamos através de uma análise qualitativa de estudo de caso, as opiniões que os mesmos apresentam sobre o que venha a ser tecnologia. Este levantamento é fundamental para se estabelecer um consenso, visto que a tecnologia é tratada de maneira bastante diversificada e na maioria das vezes de forma errônea seja a nível informal ou ainda em propostas oficiais. The present society goes through fast transformations. Old established paradigms have been placed in xeque and the teachers who used to dominated all the content have given place to a new professional that is able to mobilize the knowledge and transform it into action. Today, we need a professional teacher able to organize learning situations with autonomy in the way to make decisions and at the same time where he is able to reflect about his own action. So, in this paper we present a proposal of a continuous technological education course to working teachers and the classification of their opinion about technology that was obtained through a case study. We think that this survey is important to establish a consensus that the technology is treated by people as formal or informal level in most of time in diversified and wrong way.

O objetivo do artigo foi buscar entende quais as mudanças ocorreram nos setores empresariais Brasileiros, por meio da utilização doss dados do CAGED, utilizando analise de variância (ANOVA), a qual encontrou diferenças entre os empregados dos setores 1=Agricultura e 2= Indústria e também entre os setores 2 e 3=Serviços, no entanto o teste encontrou diferenças na entrada de profissionais apenas nos setores 3 e 4, indicando que a construção civil, recebeu mais novos empregados do que o setor de serviços, enquanto que em relação as saídas, o setor que vem perdendo empregados em relação ao setor de serviços é a indústria, um dado intrigante é que o setor que melhor remunera atualmente é o setor da construção civil, talvez devido ao crescimento que este setor vem experimento nos últimos anos.

In this paper we present the analysis of two physics teaching activities that were developed for and applied in a group of visually impaired students. The content of the activities was focused on the concept of gravitational acceleration. In the first activity the concept was explored by means of the movement of an object in an inclined plane; in the second, it was explored through the movement of a metallic disk inside a tube. Both experimental setting emitted audible signals. In this sense, all the “observational” practice were based in the audible perception of the gravitational phenomena, which permitted discussion among the students, in small groups, and a debate aiming at a general conclusion. The analysis of the data was based in a category labeled “comprehension”, which illuminated some attitudes of the students throughout the experiments such as: the sharing of ideas, the defense and arguing of meanings, and the reconstruction of meanings. As conclusions we can say that the activities were valuable for motivating the students and for giving to them some background for: (1) performing experiments; (2) observing a phenomena through an audible via; (3) collecting and analyzing data related to the variation of speed; (4) sharing, arguing and reformulating hypothesis during the discussions.

Aborda-se a análise de uma atividade de ensino de Física elaborada e aplicada a alunos com deficiência visual, parte de uma pesquisa realizada sobre o tema. Sua estrutura fundamentou-se na busca de soluções a um problema aberto (possível colisão entre um carro e um trem), e seu desenvolvimento prático constituiu-se em dois momentos: No primeiro momento, os alunos ouviram a gravação de uma situação problemática que enfocava o movimento de um carro e de um trem; no segundo momento, por meio de um debate, os alunos descreveram observações, apresentaram suas diferentes interpretações para a situação problema, e propuseram soluções para a questão contida na referida situação. Pretende-se que os resultados aqui apresentados contribuam com o ensino de Física de alunos com a citada deficiência.We report here an analysis of a physical teaching activity for blind students, within a research carried out on this subject. Its structure is based on seeking solutions for a unstructured problem (possible collision between a car and a train). Its development consists on two moments: first the students listened to a record of a car and a train in movement; then the students described their observation, showing different interpretations for the same situation and suggested solutions for the problem. We intend that the results presented in this paper can contribute to help physics teaching for blind students.

Dentro de uma perspectiva construtivista, a pesquisa em questão pretendeu avaliar a evolução da aprendizagem de alunos do Ensino Médio, quando colocados em contato com o conceito de entropia em situações cotidianas, por meio de atividades (com base no cotidiano) e textos didáticos. Nossa estratégia se baseou nas concepções prévias dos estudantes e na utilização do processo de construção e desenvolvimento do conceito como pano de fundo na contextualização dos conhecimentos desenvolvidos. Os dados foram coletados de um grupo de dez estudantes através de pré e pós-teste e analisados segundo a técnica de análise de conteúdo. Como conclusão, foi possível verificar uma evolução significativa na maioria dos estudantes da nossa amostra.From aInside of constructivist perspective, the research in question intended to evaluate the evolution of High School pupils' learning evolution, when placed in contact with the concept of entropy in daily situations, throughby activities and didactic texts. Our strategy washas been based on the students' previous conceptions and on the use of the evolutionary process of conceptual development and construction as background to put the developed knowledge. The data was been collected from a group of ten students through pre and post after-tests and we analyzed them us theing contents analysis. technique to analyzed it.Like conclusions, it was possible to verify an improvement was seen ion those concepts inof the majority of the students under consideration.

O objetivo desta pesquisa foi estudar como a evolução histórica dos modelos de atração entre corpos, tendo como pano de fundo a evolução dos modelos de mundo, pode auxiliar na formação inicial do docente de Física. Para tanto, sugerimos um planejamento de curso sobre o tema atração gravitacional, destinado principalmente a docentes de Física que atuam no ensino médio. O planejamento do curso foi baseado: em dados sobre a evolução dos modelos de mundo, buscando evidenciar como o conceito de atração gravitacional desenvolveu-se historicamente; nas concepções alternativas mais comuns encontradas na literatura, incluindo um breve esboço de noções diagnosticadas em uma amostra de docentes de Física de ensino médio; e em sugestões de leituras de resultados de pesquisas recentes sobre os processos de ensino e aprendizagem de ciências. Pretende-se fornecer aos docentes elementos de reflexão que lhes proporcionem mudanças de postura, através do questionamento da visão de ciência enquanto processo de construção e sobre sua própria prática de ensino. Partindo de resultados recentes da pesquisa em Ensino de Ciências, a metodologia sugerida privilegia o trabalho coletivo, com a realização de debates e sínteses. As atividades mencionadas são acompanhadas de justificativas sobre a escolha do tema e objetivos.The main purpose of this research was to study how the attraction among bodies, having as background the evolution of models of the world, can help prospective teachers' education. To reach this goal, we suggest a course plan on gravitational attraction, addressed mainly to High School Physics teachers. This course was based: on data about world models' evolution, searching to make clear how the concept of gravitational attraction was historically developed; on the most common alternative conceptions found in the literature, including a brief outline of notions found among in-service High School Physics teachers, and on suggestions from recent research about Science teaching and learning processes.. The sequence of activities aims to provide teachers with some reflections in order to change their attitudes, through an inquiry into their view of science as a constructive process, and their own teaching practice. The methodology proposed considers the collective work through f debates and synthesis.

O texto apresenta o perfil dos tutores do programa Unesp/Univesp e discute as concepções que esses sujeitos possuem sobre aspectos da formação a distância. Para tanto, foi aplicado um questionário em 41 tutores. Os resultados mostram que, de maneira geral, os tutores acreditam na EaD para uma formação de qualidade de professores e consideram o trabalho de tutoria fundamental para garantir a qualidade da interação entre os alunos. Os materiais instrucionais ocupam um lugar de destaque no processo de aprendizagem para um número considerável de sujeitos. Suas concepções também evidenciam que o preconceito com a EaD ainda é forte no mercado de trabalho.

Body checking is considered an expression of an excessive preoccupation with appearance. The first aim of this study was to evaluate the psychometric properties of a Brazilian Portuguese version of the Body Checking Questionnaire (BCQ). Additionally, we wanted to examine the questionnaire's associations with body avoidance behaviour, body mass index, dietary habits, and the intensity, frequency, and length of physical exercise. Finally, we also examined the differences between the total BCQ score and the individual BCQ factor scores. Differences between active and sedentary persons and between non-dieters and those on weight-loss diets were also analyzed. For the psychometric study, 546 female public university students from four different courses were surveyed. Two minor samples of university students and eating disorders women were also recruited. In the second part of the study, 403 women were recruited from weight-loss programs, gyms, and a university. All participants were verbally invited to participate in the research and voluntarily took part. Confirmatory factor analysis showed a good fit to the original model of the Brazilian BCQ that retained all 23 items. Satisfactory evidence of construct validity and internal consistency were also generated through analysis of factor loadings, t-values, Cronbach's alpha, and construct reliability tests. The results also showed associations among body checking and body avoidance, body satisfaction, social anxiety, body mass index, and the frequency and intensity of physical exercise. Significant differences were found between non-dieters and weight-loss dieters for all BCQ factors and the total BCQ score. For physically active and sedentary persons, a significant difference was only observed for idiosyncratic checking behaviour. In conclusion, the BCQ appears to be a valid and reliable scale for Brazilian research, and the associations and differences found in this study suggest that women at gyms and especially in weight-loss programs should be targeted for future body checking studies.

O uso de indicadores formativos em modelos de equações estruturais é um dos motivos para se usar o Partial Least Squares Path Modeling (PLSPM) em vez do LISREL. Além disso, tem aumentado o uso de PLS-PM nas pesquisas em Administração de Empresas. O objetivo desta pesquisa é a avaliação dos efeitos da multicolinearidade de indicadores formativos sobre os valores estimados para os pesos fatoriais e para o coeficiente estrutural. Para simular diferentes valores de multicolinearidade varia-se a quantidade de indicadores por variável latente, bem como a correlação entre eles, sendo gerados 540 modelos com diferentes valores para os coeficientes estruturais. Como conclusão, verifica-se que o aumento da variabilidade dos pesos fatoriais é incrementado para valores menores do coeficiente estrutural. Apesar da impossibilidade de se avaliar a importância relativa de cada indicador para a mensuração do construto, sob a influência da multicolinearidade, observa-se que os coeficientes estruturais não são alterados. Também se observa a inconsistência do PLS-PM quando se usa menos de cinco indicadores por variável latente (consistency at large) e quando a confiabilidade é inferior a 0,9. Ao final são feitas recomendações para a minimização dos efeitos da multicolinearidade e sugerem-se direções para novas pesquisas.

Parte-se da hipótese de que a inserção de avaliações alternativas incentivadoras de atitudes, de procedimentos e da análise conceitual são também uma forma de promover uma melhor avaliação em provas convencionais. Com isso este trabalho mostra um estudo em que se observa uma correlação estatística no desempenho de alunos em avaliações convencionais e alternativas, corroborando a hipótese de partida. Também foram feitos testes de análise de variância dos dados e de análise de clusters. Os resultados do estudo mostram que os métodos alternativos de avaliação são mais homogêneos e estáveis, quando comparados com métodos tradicionais.

Resumo: O presente trabalho é voltado para o estudo das interações discursivas que propiciam a argumentação dos alunos em aulas de Física - compreendendo a identificação tanto de componentes de seus argumentos, quanto de padrões discursivos determinados pelas intervenções do professor. São analisadas duas cenas dentro de um episódio de ensino extraído de uma seqüência de aulas relacionadas ao estudo do funcionamento do microondas, realizadas com alunos do primeiro ano do ensino médio. Nas duas cenas, os argumentos empregados pelos alunos contaram com refutações e também com a formulação de uma síntese das principais idéias discutidas. Este resultado foi atribuído tanto à apresentação de conhecimentos básicos por parte dos mesmos, quanto à alternância de padrões discursivos empregados pelo professor.

ABSTRACT Objective: To adapt and validate the Patient Activation Measure (PAM22) in a sample of Brazilians with chronic diseases under outpatient monitoring. Method: Adaptation process comprises translation, back translation, analysis by a committee of judges, semantic analysis, and pre-test. Psychometric validation was performed with 513 individuals. Construct validity was analyzed through Pearson's correlation, Student's t-test and Structural Equation Modeling; reliability was assessed by the intraclass correlation coefficient and Cronbach's Alpha. Results: The internal consistency was adequate and test-retest reliability was low to moderate (p < 0.05). Validity evidence was found on the convergent construct, with statistically significant correlations between measures of activation, self-esteem, anxiety, depression, and health status. The one-dimensionality of the theoretical model was not confirmed in the adapted version. Conclusion: Results have shown that the adapted version is reliable and valid, although the theoretical model cannot be explained in a single dimension.

No Brasil, a maior parte das pesquisas científicas é realizada pelas Universidades Públicas, que são viabilizadas graças ao apoio administrativo das Fundações de Apoio que permite aos pesquisadores se ocuparem exclusivamente das questões técnicas das pesquisas científicas e tecnológicas. Buscou-se levantar e caracterizar as variáveis que mais influenciam no desempenho e sucesso para o gerenciamento de projetos nas Fundações de Apoio, no intuito de identificar, analisar e fornecer um conhecimento mais preciso dos FCS (Fatores Críticos de Sucesso), e as reais necessidades de desempenho no gerenciamento de projetos, utilizando a ISO 21.500 como parâmetro a ser mensurado nas Fundações. Realizou-se um levantamento tipo survey em 63 gestores de projetos das Fundações de Apoio. Utilizou-se a MEE (Modelagem de Equações Estruturais) para análise estatística dos dados, em seguida, usou-se os valores das médias de cada variável, estabelecendo o seu ranqueamento. O principal foco de atuação dá-se nos grupos de processos de planejamento, com as variáveis: “Desenvolver orçamento” a “Nível de importância” e “Desenvolver planos do projeto” a “Nível de aplicação”, representando as atividades-chave para o bom desempenho do gerenciamento de projetos. Quanto aos FCS o mais importante apontado pelos gestores foi o “Planejamento do projeto”. Portanto, os resultados mostram que os gestores têm fortes ações de planejamento, detendo, assim, um alto nível de controle nas atividades de gerenciamento e execução dos projetos. Conclui-se que as atividades de gerenciamento de projetos e os aspectos técnicos relacionados aos projetos têm grande influência no sucesso dos projetos nas Fundações estudadas. In Brazil, most scientific studies are conducted by Public Universities and made possible thanks to administrative support from Support Foundations, which allows researchers to deal exclusively with the technical matters of scientific and technological research. We sought to retrieve and characterize the variables that most influence performance and success in project management in Support Foundations, in order to identify, analyze, and provide more in-depth knowledge about the CSF (Critical Success Factors), besides the real performance needs in project management, employing ISO 21500 as the parameter to be measured in the Foundations. We surveyed 63 project managers in Support Foundations. We employed SEM (Structural Equation Modeling) for statistical data analysis, and then used the mean values of each variable to establish its ranking. The main action focus takes place in the planning process groups, with the variables "Develop budget" at "Importance level" and "Develop project plans" at "Application level" representing the key activities for a good performance in project management. Regarding CFS, the most important factor pointed out by the managers was "Project planning". Therefore, the results show that managers have strong planning actions, thus holding a high level of control in project management and execution activities. We conclude that project management activities and the technical aspects related to the projects greatly influence the success of projects in the studied Foundations.

Foi investigado se o bem-estar espiritual de professores foi fator protetivo para quadros de estresse, ansiedade e depressão durante a pandemia da COVID-19. Para tanto, 733 professores de diversas regiões do Brasil, responderam, no formato on-line, os seguintes instrumentos: questionário para obtenção de dados sociodemográficos, a Escala de Bem-Estar Espiritual (EBE) e o Depression, Anxiety and Stress Scale - Short Form (DASS-21). A coleta foi realizada nos meses de setembro e outubro de 2020. Os dados foram analisados quantitativamente através de regressão linear. Os resultados revelaram que a dimensão da espiritualidade alusiva ao bem-estar existencial foi protetiva para o surgimento de sintomas de ansiedade, estresse e depressão. Por outro lado, o bem-estar religioso foi preditivo de maiores escores dos mesmos transtornos. Características como idade, gênero, renda, tipo de escola, apresentaram relação para a manifestação de sintomas psicopatológicos e o nível de espiritualidade.

PurposeCompanies' relationship with their customers through e-commerce platforms has increased considerably in the past few years, bringing new challenges concerning service guarantees (SG). This study aims to propose a framework of the relations between customers' expectations on SG, their negative experiences and their attitudes and behavioural intentions towards an e-commerce platform.Design/methodology/approachThe research had a qualitative and descriptive approach. Testimonials from clients of an online e-commerce platform were obtained through interviews via videoconference and non-participant observation on a complaints website in Brazil. The testimonies were analysed through content analysis.FindingsThe customer expectations regarding the SG offered by the e-commerce platform are congruent with the five categories of the theory that support this research. Customer testimonials on the complaints site show that their negative experiences with the e-commerce platform generated negative emotional, cognitive and behavioural responses towards the company. A framework was proposed, including customers' expectations regarding SG, their negative experiences and their repercussions on clients' attitudes and behavioural intentions.Originality/valueThis article is the only that contemplates customers' expectations about SG in an e-commerce platform, relating them to attitudes and behavioural intentions. Thus, its framework demonstrates the relationships between customer expectations about SGs, their negative experiences and attitudinal and behavioural repercussions. This article brings academic and managerial contributions for companies and managers of e-commerce platforms. It contributes to clients and consumer protection associations by revealing problems they face with SG on e-commerce platforms. This research can be used by those responsible for elaborating laws and public policies to regulate and inspect the relationships between e-commerce platforms and their customers.

The objective of this study was to evaluate the moderating effect of Occupational Health and Safety actions based on the World Health Organization (WHO) recommendations to mitigate the negative effect of COVID-19 on the operational, logistical, marketing (OLMP), and health and safety performance (OHSP) of workers in multinational industries. The development of surveys in companies was the method adopted, which had confirmatory evaluations through Structural Equations Modelling (SEM). As a result, it was confirmed that this is one of the few scientific studies that expectedly validates that the COVID-19 pandemic has severely impacted operational, logistical, market, and Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) performance. This is also one of the few research projects to assess the moderating effect of OHS practices based on WHO to mitigate the effects of COVID-19. According to our findings, those practices were able to reduce by at least 50% the effect of the COVID-19 crisis on operational, logistical, and marketing performance. However, they minimize by only 1.8% the negative effects of health and safety performance for the worker, generating absenteeism increasingly due to physical and mental problems. This number could be higher if the social distance could be provided in public transportation and if employees were more aware of the risks of COVID-19 contamination during their social activities.

PurposeThe main objective of this study is to analyze internal audit processes performed by Brazilian companies considering ISO 19011:2018 guidelines.Design/methodology/approachThe methodological strategy used was a survey conducted with professionals who assist audit processes of Brazilian companies from different segments. Eight main aspects presented by ISO 19011:2018 were evaluated, and data were analysed through fuzzy technique for order of preference by similarity to ideal solution (TOPSIS). These aspects were ranked, and it was possible to identify those most critical.FindingsThree aspects that are evidenced as critical in the study are as follows (1) to correctly establish the objectives to be achieved and the extension of internal audits program; (2) to correctly assess risks and opportunities that can affect internal audits implementation, defining actions for better results and (3) to monitor, critically analyze and improve the internal audit program.Originality/valueThis study has an exploratory character, and the information presented here can be useful for market professionals and researchers interested in the subject. No similar study was found in the literature.

Sustainability is a key concern across industries. In the textile sector, companies face a very competitive environment and struggle to combine the pressures for the reduction of cost with the demands for the implementation of cleaner production practices (CPP) that are advanced by the society and public policies. Whereas several studies have explored the factors that influence the adoption of CPP there is still a paucity of research addressing the relationship between stakeholders’ influences and CPP. The objective of this study is to explore the influence of stakeholders on the adoption of CPP in the textile industry. The study builds on data from survey data and expert perspectives, whereas data analysis resorted to structured equation modelling and Spearman's correlation test. The study suggests that shareholders have a positive influence on the adoption of CPP in this industry, driven by the expected impacts thatCPP may have for reducing costs and improving company's brand. On the contrary, the study finds no support for business partners, society and the government influencing the adoption of CPP. The study offers several contributions to theory building, notably by highlightingthe relevance of interpreting environmental costs as an investment. The study offers also insights for managerial practice by exploring evidences about the emergence of environmental cultural change following the precautionary principle. Insights are also put forward concerning the growing social in monitoring environmental actions through social networks.

This study aims to analyze the reasons that motivate Brazilian companies to implement Quality Management Systems, according to ISO 9001:2015 requirements. Based on information collected in the literature, a questionnaire was developed and answered by professionals that work with the mentioned standard in their companies. An Exploratory Factor Analysis was conducted with the collected data to group the validated variables into two constructs that present the most part of information variance. These constructs were entitled “internal improvements related motives” and “market related motives”. The findings of this research confirm and complement previous studies performed in Brazil and in other countries.

Purpose The purpose of this paper is to discuss how COVID-19 pandemic forced several companies to reflect on their activities. Many organizational changes have been conducted and others will still be necessary. Some reflections are presented, as some aspects are well consolidated in academic literature while they are neglected by many leaders of companies. The authors believe that this viewpoint can support leaders to enhance organizational development. Design/methodology/approach Part of the information presented here is characterized by the authors’ points of view, as it is a viewpoint. However, the authors carried out searches on scientific bases and published press reports aiming to support the reflections presented in this text. Findings The reflections presented in this viewpoint focus on the following aspects: periodic critical analysis of companies business models, business continuity management systems, risk management, resilience principles in supply chain management, necessary changes in production systems, occupational health and safety systems and new ways of working. For the authors, the correct conduction of these aspects can guarantee companies survival; however, many leaders worldwide still neglect them. Originality/value The reflections presented here can be useful for leaders interested in conducting a critical analysis in their business, considering necessary organizational changes to face the COVID-19 pandemic consequences.

O propósito central desse trabalho foi apresentar a inserção dos estudantes calouros, com foco no acolhimento e integração. A natureza dessa pesquisa foi por meio de pesquisa bibliográfica, e em seguida a inferência aos dados e análises de experiências vivenciadas. O estudo foi desenvolvido com os estudantes de graduação nível bacharelado na modalidade EaD. Para desenvolvê-lo, partiu-se da hipótese de que apenas o uso de novas tecnologias, diversificação das mídias e inovação na linguagem dos conteúdos, não seriam suficientes para suprir as necessidades dos estudantes que ingressam no universo EaD. Como um dos fundamentos contextuais de EaD, um modelo empírico foi desenvolvido com relevância inovadora de utilização das tecnologias de comunicação em busca da otimização de uma aprendizagem significativa, tornando-se assim o ensino-aprendizagem mais abrangente.

The application of Cleaner Production (CP) practices is a preventive strategy guided by economic and environmental benefits to companies. The textile industry is a major generator of pollutants, yet it is a crucial sector in Brazil that generates annual revenues of USD 51.58 billion and millions of jobs, even though it is constituted mostly of small and medium companies. This study aims to identify the CP practices adopted by different sizes of companies in the textile sector located in Brazil. A survey was conducted, and answers were analyzed using the Kruskal-Wallis test to assess the relevance of each CP practice according to company size. The results showed that small companies apply CP practices exclusively for economic benefit because they have financial difficulties and lack of credit, medium-sized companies are challenged by large supply chains to achieve an environmental management system to provide products and services, and large companies seek green certifications to export their products to the European market. The results contribute to business practices by facilitating identification of the most relevant CP practices for each company size.

Purpose This paper aims to critically analyze the engineering education focused on sustainability in supply chain management, in courses offered by Brazilian higher education institutions. Design/methodology/approach Topics related to sustainable supply chain management were listed from the literature and used as a framework to gather professors’ opinions on how well these topics are covered in engineering courses offered in Brazil. Data analysis was performed via frequency analysis and comparative ordering using the Fuzzy technique for order preference by similarity to ideal solution technique. Findings It was possible to evidence that most of the topics are superficially presented within other subjects and that there are few associated practical activities that enable greater learning. Comparatively, issues related to ISO standards (related to quality and environmental management systems) and compliance with environmental laws, regulations and standards were highlighted. Additionally, it was possible to verify that there is a need for further study on issues related to energy efficiency, worker training and corporate governance. Originality/value No similar study was found in the literature. The findings presented in this paper can contribute to the improvement of engineering education in Brazil and other countries.

espanolEl articulo tiene como objetivo presentar el proceso de construccion y validacion de una escala para evaluar la percepcion de calidad de los cursos de pregrado a distancia. Para este fin, se emplearon cuatroprocedimientos: (1) revision de la literatura; (2) validacion teorica o con expertos; (3) validacion semantica y (4) validacion estadistica, a traves del modelado de ecuaciones estructurales (SEM), con la generacion de una construccion de segundo orden (calidad), utilizando el software SmartPLS 2.0. La escala Likert se estructuro en funcion de la solicitud de una puntuacion entre cero y diez y se puso a disposicion en una plataforma en linea. La validacion de la Escala de Evaluacion del Grado de Educacion a Distancia (EALDIS) incluyo una muestra de 1,060 estudiantes de diferentes cursos de educacion a distancia en Brasil. Los resultados de las distintas etapas: validez discriminante y predictiva, confiabilidad compuesta, alfa y Cronbach, coeficientes de trayectoria y tamano del efecto presentaron indicadores de validacion muy adecuados. Por lo tanto, la conclusion del trabajo es un instrumento de investigacion validado y confiable, con 83 items y 8 construcciones, que pueden contribuir a la evaluacion de loscursos de formacion docente a distancia. portuguesO artigo tem por objetivo apresentaro processo de construcao e validacao de uma escala para avaliacao da percepcao da qualidade de cursos de licenciatura na modalidade a distância. Four procedures were used: (1) review of the literature; (2) theoretical or face validation; (3) semantic validation and (4) statistical validation, by usethe Structural Equation Modeling(SEM), with the generation of a second-order construct (Quality) using SmartPLS 2.0 software. The Likert scale was structured based on the request to assign a grade between zero and 10 and made available on an online platform. The validation of the Distance Learning Teacher Training Course Evaluation Scalehad a sample of1,060 students from different undergraduate courses in Brazil. The results of the various steps: discriminant and predictive validity, compound reliability, alpha and Cronbach, path coefficients and effect size presented very adequate validation indicators. Thus, the conclusion of the work is a validated and reliable research instrument, with 83 items and 8 constructs, which can contribute to the evaluation of teacher education courses at a distance level.

Objetivo do estudo: O objetivo da presente pesquisa foi o de analisar a disposicao para implementacao da logistica reversa no varejo supermercadista. Metodologia: Foram coletados os dados sobre a pratica de logistica reversa em 18 supermercados e utilizou-se a regressao logistica para gerar um modelo de avaliacao sobre a disposicao para tal pratica. Originalidade/Relevância: Na literatura, nao existem estudos que sugerem um modelo para implementacao e orientacao para a logistica reversa. O modelo proposto no presente estudo pode ser aplicado em outras areas do conhecimento. Principais resultados: Como resultado, foi observado que, por meio das variaveis que definem as caracteristicas do varejo, nao e possivel afirmar se um supermercado ira ou nao implementar o processo da logistica reversa. Contribuicoes teoricas/metodologicas: O metodo utilizado pode ser empregado para construcao de modelos de gestao e decisao, tanto para a industria como para o varejo. Contribuicoes sociais/para a gestao: Com base na presente pesquisa, as empresas podem aplicar o modelo para tomada de decisao sobre a viabilidade ou nao da implementacao da Logistica Reversa.

A Educação Ambiental e a legislação ambiental buscam por meio da conscientização e da reflexão sobre as questões socioambientais transformar indivíduos em “cidadãos ambientais”. Estudos demonstram que o nível de conscientização ambiental de cada indivíduo está diretamente relacionado ao grau de percepção ambiental e que este, reflete diretamente no comportamento ambiental do indivíduo. Assim, o objetivo da pesquisa foi verificar se a percepção ambiental dos estudantes universitários de administração reflete no conhecimento sobre as questões ambientais. Para tanto, foi realizada uma pesquisa junto a uma universidade do estado do Mato Grasso do Sul e três universidades do estado de São Paulo com um total de 527 respondentes, sendo duas universidades públicas e duas privadas. Para análise de dados, foi utilizada a modelagem de equações estruturais por meio do software SmartPLS 2.0 M3. O resultado indica que a percepção ambiental do universitário tem foco, principalmente, na reciclagem, na economia de água e energia e na redução do consumo.

O Lean Manufacturing é uma estratégia de produção aplicada em empresas de diversos segmentos. Seu principal objetivo é reduzir ao máximo os desperdícios a fim de maximizar o lucro. A transição para o referido estágio, entretanto, não é simples e muitas são as barreiras enfrentadas para se alcançar os objetivos supracitados. Nesta trajetória, as empresas apresentarão diferentes estágios de maturidade e a mensuração desta maturidade torna-se importante. Tomando por base as informações mencionadas, o presente artigo tem por objetivo identificar quais são as principais métricas utilizadas por empresas brasileiras na avaliação da maturidade de sistemas lean. Métricas utilizadas em projetos lean foram listadas a partir da literatura e informações sobre a aplicação das mesmas foram levantadas junto a 43 profissionais que participaram de uma survey. Respondentes outliers foram identificados a partir do Escalonamento Multidimensional (EMD) e, na sequência, as métricas foram ordenadas via um mecanismo utilizado pelo software SPSS para combinação linear de variáveis, empregado na Análise Fatorial Exploratória. Os resultados evidenciaram que as métricas mais aplicadas estão relacionadas à produtividade dos funcionários, número de reclamações dos consumidores, tempo de setup, lead times e índice de estoques. Os resultados decorrentes deste estudo poderão ser utilizados por outros pesquisadores em suas futuras pesquisas.

Method: A quantitative exploratory research has been carried out through a survey with a sample of 1617 respondents of Mexican, Argentinean, Ecuadorian and Bolivian nationality. Data analysis has been performed using structural equation modeling using SmartPLS 2.0 M3 software. Originality/Relevance: The originality of this study is to evaluate the perception of Latin American for the image of Brazil since studies of this type have not yet performed. Thus, the research contributes with an interdisciplinary study whose scale and similar studies can use methodology. Results: The results of the study confirmed that the Brazilian image could be analyzed by a combination of the cognitive, affective and conative components. Since cognitive was the most strongly identified component, based principally on beliefs related to politics, people in the country, socio-environmental aspects, economy, innovation and culture in Brazil. Theoretical/Methodological Contributions: The methodology of data analysis used reinforces how much the Modeling by Structural Equations can contribute to the development of the theory related to the image of a country. As for the theoretical advance, it was possible to observe the importance of studies on the subject. Social/Management contributions: The main contribution of this study is the possibility of companies using these results in the direction of efforts in marketing campaigns and image of products for the external or internal market. Objective: Analyze the effect of organic food-related lifestyle towards the attitude and purchase intention on organic food in the Brazilian context.Method: A conceptual framework was developed with a second-order construct, the organic food-related lifestyle (OFRL), to assess its impact on attitude and purchase intention. An online survey was carried out with 651 Brazilian consumers (non-probabilistic sample). The data were analyzed using Structural Equation Modeling, by partial least squares and path models (PLS-PM), using the SmartPLS 2.0 software. Originality / Relevance: This study extends the literature and provides further insights when analyzing the consequences of the OFRL on the attitude and purchase intention of organic food.Results: The OFRL is a good predictor for purchase intention of organic food and presents a strong relationship with attitude. The last one plays a mediating role in the relationship OFRL-purchase intention, improving the predict role of the organic food-related lifestyle toward purchase intention. The model explained 19% of the attitude variance and 51% of the purchase intention variance.Theoretical / Methodological Contributions: From a theoretical perspective, this work innovates by proposing a unique second-order construct, composed of latent variables linked to the organic lifestyle, to measure its impact on the formation of attitude and purchase intention toward organic food. Objetivo: Analisar, no contexto brasileiro, o efeito do estilo de vida relacionado à alimentação orgânica na atitude e intenção de compra dos alimentos orgânicos.Método: Foi desenvolvida uma estrutura conceitual, com um constructo de segunda ordem, o estilo de vida relacionado à alimentação orgânica (OFRL), para avaliar seu impacto na atitude e na intenção de compra, por meio de um survey online com 651 consumidores brasileiros (amostra não-probabilística). Para a análise dos dados, o método escolhido foi a Modelagem de Equações Estruturais, por mínimos quadrados parciais e modelos de caminhos (PLS-PM), utilizando-se o software SmartPLS 2.0.Originalidade / Relevância: Este estudo amplia a literatura e fornece novos insights ao analisar as consequências do OFRL sobre a atitude e intenção de compra de alimentos orgânicos.Resultados: O constructo OFRL é um bom preditor para a intenção de compra de alimentos orgânicos e apresenta forte relação com a atitude, que desempenha um papel mediador na relação OFRL-intenção de compra, melhorando o papel preditivo do estilo de vida relacionado aos alimentos orgânicos em relação à intenção de compra. This article analyses the difficulties observed in adopting the Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) program in production systems. The research strategies used for this purpose consisted of a literature review, a panel of experts and a survey with professionals working in manufacturing companies. Altogether, 69 market professionals took part in the survey and the collected data was analyzed through the PLS-SEM technique. Results indicate that there is a causal relationship between difficulties associated with the planning phase of a TPM program and issues associated with its implementation. This is an original research and the results are valuable to business professionals desiring to properly implement TPM, as well for researchers interested in the mechanics of total productive maintenance system’s adoption. Resumo: Este artigo analisa as dificuldades observadas na adoção do programa Manutenção Produtiva Total (TPM) em sistemas de produção. As estratégias de pesquisa utilizadas para esse fim consistiram em uma revisão da literatura, um painel de especialistas e uma pesquisa com profissionais que trabalham em empresas de manufatura. Ao todo, 69 profissionais do mercado participaram da pesquisa e os dados coletados foram analisados pela técnica PLS-SEM. Os resultados indicam que existe uma relação causal entre as dificuldades associadas à fase de planejamento de um programa de TPM e questões associadas à sua implementação. Esta é uma pesquisa original e os resultados são valiosos para profissionais de negócios desejando implementar adequadamente o TPM, bem como para pesquisadores interessados nos mecanismos da adoção do sistema de manutenção produtiva total.

Purpose This paper aims to present the fundamental aspects for the development and validation (D&V) of attitudes’ measurement scale, as well as its practical aspects that are not deeply explored in books and manuals. These aspects are the results of a long experience of the authors and arduous learning with errors and mistakes. Design/methodology/approach The nature of this paper is methodological and can be very useful for an initial reading on the theme that it rests. This paper presents four D&V stages: literature review or interviews with experts; theoretical or face validation; semantic validation or validation with possible respondents; and statistical validation. Findings This is a methodological paper, and its main finding is the usefulness for researchers. Research limitations/implications The main implication of this paper is to support researchers on the process of D&V of measurement scales. Practical implications Became a step-by-step guide to researchers on the D&V of measurement scales. Social implications Support researchers on their data collection and analysis. Originality/value This is a practical guide, with tips from seasoned scholars to help researchers on the D&V of measurement scales.

© 2019 This research aims to evaluate the engineering students' perception regarding sustainability. For this, a survey was developed based on sustainability parameters from a detailed analysis of the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) and the Brazilian Institute of Corporate Governance (BICG). The parameters were initially divided into seven groups: Financial and Productivity Aspects (FPA); Concern With Employees (CWE); Support for Local Communities (SLC); Ethical and Corporate Governance Issues (ECI); Environmental Aspects (ENA); Sustainable Aspects in the Operations Network (SON); Customers, Development of New Products and Services (CPS). The survey was conducted with engineering undergraduate students from two Brazilian universities. The data were analyzed through structural equation modeling technique, namely the PLS-SEM algorithm. The collected 162 answers enabled the validation of the model tested, and showed that the students, in general, do not consider SLC and CWE when they are analyzing sustainability. Additionally, the most important construct was the CPS. This is an exploratory study and we believe that these findings may contribute to expand the debate about the sustainability insertion in engineering courses, helping educators in their didactic activities. There were not found similar studies in the literature, which highlight the originality of the research. The statistical validation of the results and the contribution to expand the debate regarding sustainability in engineering education justify the value of this study.

The main objective of this exploratory research was to develop and validate a model to measure the maturity of manufacturing cells that operate according to the lean philosophy. A theoretical model was constructed based on parameters from the literature and information provided by a panel of experts. Using a questionnaire based on this theoretical model, a survey of 101 cell managers was carried out and the data collected were analyzed by partial least squares structural equation modeling (PLS-SEM). The results show that the maturity of a manufacturing cell can be measured using the three constructs ‘Employee Knowledge and Skills’, ‘Quality and Continuous Improvement’ and ‘Cell Configuration’. Of these, the second had the greatest impact on cell maturity. The results also show that a fourth construct, ‘Leadership, Autonomy and Communication’, influences maturity indirectly. These findings may be used by managers of manufacturing cells and by researchers.

As a result, it is inferred that when greenwashing is identified in the product, it loses the aspects of loyalty, satisfaction and benefits, as well as becoming a product that causes confusion of consumption. Further, consumer attitudes and beliefs show that they are guided by the aspects of perceived loyalty, satisfaction and benefits and that the perceived risk aspect is practically ignored.Originality/value The originality of this study is in evaluating consumer perception focusing on several aspects of purchase intention simultaneously, considering perception and behavior of consumer before greenwashing and green consumption and using all aspects together (satisfaction, loyalty, subjective and control forces, risk and benefits perception). Besides complementing with other determinants like consumer attitudes and beliefs, confusion of green consumption, behavior controlled in relation to green consumption and greenwashing. Thus, it contributes with an interdisciplinary study whose scale and methodology can be used by analogous studies. This article aims to analyse some of the main challenges evidenced in the insertion of sustainability in engineering courses, according to the view from a sample of Brazilian students. Through a systematic literature review, a set of 10 challenges were structured to base the research instrument (questionnaire). These challenges were evaluated by 91 engineering students who participate in sustainable action programs promoted by Enactus Brazil. The collected data were analysed in terms of the averages assigned and via the multi-criteria decision technique TOPSIS, which allowed ranking the challenges. The averages were higher than 5.0 on the scale used, indicating that the students notice the existence of the challenges in the courses in which they are enrolled. The ranking via TOPSIS presented the most evident challenges: ‘Sustainable issues debated only in specific disciplines in a limited extent’; ‘Difficulty to integrate disciplines for the broad teaching of sustainability’; ‘Lack of practical and real examples of how sustainability can be embedded in the specific context of the course’; and ‘Activities and examples presented focus exclusively on environmental issues’. The results presented here may be useful for course coordinators to improve their curriculum; educators to enrich their disciplines from the findings reported here; and researchers interested in the subject can use these findings as a starting point for proposing new teaching techniques. No similar publications were found in the literature, which indicates its originality and contribution to the knowledge base.

PurposeThe purpose of this paper is to integrate Brazilian agro-industrial co-operatives’ horizontal, lateral and vertical integration diversification and expansion strategies, such as operation area and membership, with financial models. Several studies have tried to assess the importance of diversification on the financial outcomes in agricultural co-operatives with limited success.Design/methodology/approachThe three main concepts were combined in a working model. A survey was developed to gather data on financial, diversification and expansion strategies from 67 co-operatives (44 per cent return rate). Data were processed using a partial least squares structural equation model.FindingsThe findings suggest that expansion is directly responsible for both the financial output and diversification strategy; however, no hard evidence supports the view that the diversification of production in some agro-industrial co-operatives leads to positive financial results.Research limitations/implicationsOnly larger Brazilian co-operatives (>$50m in annual revenues) were considered. Co-operatives facing other scenarios or smaller co-operatives could have different outcomes.Practical implicationsBesides diversifying their co-operatives for financial reasons, managers should also consider risk aversion and adapting to new farmers’ portfolios as probable reasons.Originality/valueExtant literature asserts that diversification leads to financial growth; as the co-operatives studied show no such causal relationship, it follows that they diversify their portfolios for other purposes.
