We describe the participation and the official results of the 2nd Computational Linguistics Scientific Summarization Shared Task (CL-SciSumm), held as a part of the BIRNDL workshop at the Joint Conference for Digital Libraries 2016 in Newark, New Jersey. CL-SciSumm is the first medium-scale Shared Task on scientific document summarization in the computational linguistics (CL) domain. Participants were provided a training corpus of 30 topics, each comprising of a reference paper (RP) and 10 or more citing papers, all of which cite the RP. For each citation, the text spans (i.e., citances) that pertain to the RP have been identified. Participants solved three sub-tasks in automatic research paper summarization using this text corpus. Fifteen teams from six countries registered for the Shared Task, of which ten teams ultimately submitted and presented their results. The annotated corpus comprised 30 target papers—currently the largest available corpora of its kind. The corpus is available for free download and use at https://github.com/WING-NUS/scisumm-corpus. Die Tagung 'Vernetzte Welten' aus der Tagungsreihe 'Digitale Bibliothek' stellte die organisatorische und inhaltliche Kollaboration von Institutionen aus dem GLAM-Sektor in den thematischen Mittelpunkt: Referiert wurde u. a. über Metadaten und Pflege semantischer Datenstrukturen, Linked Open Data, Open Access und Nachnutzung von semantisch beschriebenen digitalen Objekten. The conference 'Vernetzte Welten' from the Digital Library series focused on the collaboration of GLAM sector institutions, mainly on the subjects organization and content: Among other topics, reports were given on metadata and maintenance of semantic data structures, Linked Open Data, Open Access and reusing semantically described digital objects. The conference showed clearly that a deliberate reorientation has taken place which speeds up the opening of the institutions and the spreading and interlinking of objects that have undergone curation. During the International Conferences on Digital Libraries, several experts felt the need for a primary research journal in the field of digital libraries which will not only cover the knowledge network of global digital library experts, but also project Indian research on digital libraries, technologies and case studies. Thus, the journal World Digital Libraries (WDL) started in 2008. The article presents a report from a January 18-19, 2013 conference in Trier, Germany on the reconstruction of libraries of the Middle Ages using digital methods. Topics of presentations given included the reconstruction of the library of the Imperial Abbey of Corvey, the dating of Middle Ages handwriting found in the Herzog August Bibliothek library, and data processing and metadata standards used in the digitization of archival materials.

Purpose - The purpose of this paper is to provide an overview of the main contents of the 18th BOBCATSSS Symposium, held in Parma, Italy in January 2010, dedicated to the main theme "Bridging the digital divide: libraries providing access for all?" Design/methodology/approach - The report provides a concise presentation of the main themes discussed during the conference. Findings - The topics presented focused mainly on the fields of access and delivery, community support and collections, with some others focusing on leadership and management. Originality/value - This symposium is one of the few conferences in the world where students are the main characters and participate as organisers, reviewers and presenters of the contributions. Information about the International Digital Publishing Forum (IDPF) annual conference Digital Book 2007 held at the Macmillan Auditorium in New York on May 9, 2007 is presented. The event has provided publishers and business people with ideas about electronic-book technology and how it might affect their work and their bottom lines. Digital Library Federation executive director Peter Brantley graced the event by saying that publishing is being reinvented.
