Well-designed environmental regulations are a prerequisite for achieving green economic growth. However, the effectiveness of campaign-style environmental regulation—a widely used environmental management instrument in developing nations or even in some developed nations, on green economic growth remains under-researched and has not reached a consistent conclusion. This paper takes advantage of China's Central Environmental Protection Inspector policy—the strictest and largest campaign-style environmental regulation policy in China's history, as a natural experiment and uses the difference-in-differences method to explore the effect of campaign-style environmental regulation on green economic growth, and further analyze its underlying mechanisms and heterogeneity effects. The panel data covering 280 prefecture-level cities in China from 2009 to 2019 are used. Our results show that Central Environmental Protection Inspector can result in an average of 14.2% increase in green economic growth, and this effect is sustainable for a long time. Mechanism analysis shows that Central Environmental Protection Inspector boosts green economic growth mainly by promoting green innovation and optimizing industrial structure. Further heterogeneity analysis reveals that the positive effect of Central Environmental Protection Inspector on green economic growth is greater in eastern China and underdeveloped cities. Student engagement, consisting of behavioural, cognitive, and emotional components, has been proven to influence both academic success and psychological well-being. To examine the linkages among the three aspects of academic engagement, a sample of 789 Chinese primary school students (47% girls; 39% 3rd graders, 31% 4th graders, 30% 5th graders) completed the Mathematics Engagement Scale at three 6-month intervals over the course of 1.5 years. Results indicated that the effects of behavioural, cognitive, and emotional engagement amplified and influenced one another over time. Specifically, behavioural engagement stably predicted cognitive and emotional engagement over time, but the prediction of cognitive engagement on emotional engagement was not consistent from T1 to T2 and from T2 to T3. In addition, emotional engagement significantly predicted behavioural and cognitive engagement only from T2 to T3. These findings support academic engagement as multidimensional construct and advance the understanding of its internal dynamical and continuous developmental interrelations.

Background: The CRC‐VTE trial conducted in China revealed a significant occurrence of venous thromboembolism (VTE) in patients following colorectal cancer (CRC) surgery, raising concerns about implementing thromboprophylaxis measures. The present study aimed to identify and analyze inappropriate aspects of current thromboprophylaxis practices. Methods: This study performed an analysis of the CRC‐VTE trial, a prospective multicenter study that enrolled 1836 patients who underwent CRC surgery. The primary objective was to identify independent risk factors for VTE after CRC surgery using multivariate logistic regression analysis. Furthermore, among the cases in which VTE occurred, the appropriateness of thromboprophylaxis was assessed based on several factors, including pharmacologic prophylaxis, time to initiate prophylaxis, drug selection, drug dosage, and duration of pharmacologic prophylaxis. Based on the analysis of the current state of thromboprophylaxis and relevant clinical guidelines, a modified Delphi method was used to develop a clinical pathway for VTE prophylaxis after CRC surgery. Results: In this analysis of 1836 patients, 205 (11.2%) were diagnosed with VTE during follow‐up. The multifactorial analysis identified several independent risk factors for VTE, including age (≥70 years), female sex, varicose veins in the lower extremities, intraoperative blood transfusion, and the duration of immobilization exceeding 24 h. None of the patients diagnosed with VTE in the CRC trial received adequate thromboprophylaxis. The main reasons for this inappropriate practice were the omission of thromboprophylaxis, delayed initiation, and insufficient duration of thromboprophylaxis. We developed a specialized clinical pathway for thromboprophylaxis after CRC surgery to address these issues. Conclusions: This study offers a comprehensive nationwide evaluation of existing thromboprophylaxis practices in patients after CRC surgery in China. A specialized clinical pathway was developed to address the identified gaps and improve the quality of care. Background: Compassion fatigue is often associated with moral distress in the nursing practice among registered nurses. Moral resilience is an important ability to maintain, restore, or promote their physical and mental health in response to ethical dilemmas in nursing. Moral resilience can be utilized as a potential solution to aid registered nurses in effectively managing compassion fatigue. Aim: To identify latent profiles of moral resilience among registered nurses and to explore the relationships of these profiles with compassion fatigue. Research design: From August 2022 to December 2022, 569 nurses were recruited in two general hospitals, in China. A Rushton Moral Resilience Scale and the Chinese version of Compassion Fatigue—Short Scale were given to the participants. A latent profile analysis was conducted to explore moral resilience latent profiles. Predictors of profiles membership was evaluated using multinomial logistic regression analysis, and the compassion fatigue scores of each latent profile were compared using a one-way analysis of variance. Ethical considerations: We obtained ethical approval from the Institution Review Board of Xiangya School of Nursing, Central South University (IRB No. E202293, approved 15/July/2022). Results: A four-profile moral resilience model best fit the data. Different levels and shapes differentiated the four profiles: high moral resilience (28.7%), moderate moral resilience (52.3%), low responses and high efficacy (16.2%), and low moral resilience (2.8%). Nurses with bachelor's degrees were more likely to belong to the high moral resilience (OR = 0.118, p =.038) and moderate moral resilience (OR = 0.248, p =.045); Nurses who were divorced or separated (OR = 11.746, p =.025) and very dissatisfied with their work (OR = 0.001, p =.049) were more probably belonging to low moral resilience. Nurses who had received ethical training in the hospital were more likely involved in high moral resilience (OR = 5.129, p =.003) and low responses and high efficacy (OR = 5.129, p =.003). In each profile of moral resilience, compassion fatigue was experienced differently by the participants (F = 13.05, p <.001). Conclusions: Developing and implementing interventions tailored to each nurse's moral resilience profile would maximize interventions' effectiveness and reduce nurses' compassion fatigue. Neohelicomyces species are a group of helicosporous hyphomycetes with the potential to produce secondary metabolites. During our investigation of helicosporous fungi, six collections were isolated from both terrestrial and freshwater habitats in Guizhou Province, China. Based on multigene phylogenetic analysis (ITS, LSU, tef1α and rpb2), coupled with morphological data, three new Neohelicomyces species, viz. N. guizhouensis, N. helicosporus and N. hydei were established. A list of accepted Neohelicomyces species with molecular data was provided. Gender differences in science and engineering (S&E) have been studied in various countries. Most of these studies find that women are underrepresented in the S&E workforce and publish less than their male peers. The factors that contribute to gender differences in experience and performance in S&E careers can vary from one country to another, yet they remain underexplored. This paper is among the first to systematically compare gender differences in the publication productivity of academic scientists and engineers with doctoral degrees in the U.S. and China. Findings from negative binomial regressions show that women publish less than their male counterparts in science but not in engineering in the U.S. In China, women do not differ from men in publication productivity in science but publish more than their male counterparts in engineering. In addition, we find that some background variables affect men's and women's publication productivity differently. The findings are analyzed in the context of the different cultures of the two fields (science vs. engineering) and of the two countries (the U.S. and China). Limitations and policy implications are also discussed.

Background: On December 7, 2022, the Joint Prevention and Control Mechanism of China's State Council released the "Ten New Guidelines" to optimize the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) prevention policies further. This signaled a broader shift from "dynamic clearing" to "coexisting with the virus" nationwide. Objective: This study aims to examine the experiences and perspectives of interdisciplinary nurses during the COVID-19 outbreak in China after the implementation of the "Ten New Guidelines". The goal is to understand the challenges faced by this unique nursing group and inform organizational support to bolster their well-being and resilience. Methods: Two tertiary hospitals in southeastern Zhejiang Province were selected, with interdisciplinary nurses chosen as subjects. A constructivist qualitative research approach was employed, using semi-structured face-to-face interviews. Research data were collected through interviews and analyzed using content analysis. Results: Fifteen interdisciplinary nurses were included in this study. The analysis revealed four main themes and nine sub-themes. The main themes were: (1) ineffective organizational support (inadequate organizational care, poor PPE, excessive workload), (2) physiological distress after contracting COVID-19 (extreme physical fatigue, leakage of urine due to severe coughing), (3) fear of being wrong (fear of being reprimanded in public, psychological anxiety), and (4) family responsibility anxiety (difficulty of loyalty and filial piety, obligations to their children). Conclusion: We provide new evidence that organizations must proactively address the support, training, and communication needs of staff, particularly interdisciplinary nurses, to supplement epidemic containment. In this study, we describe and illustrate a new species, Primula weiliei L.S.Yang, Z.K.Wu & G.W.Hu, from the Shennongjia Forestry District, Hubei Province in Central China. It is morphologically assigned to Primula sect. Aleuritia based on its dwarf and hairless habit, long petiole, fruits longer than calyx and covered by farina on the scape. This new species is similar to P. gemmifera and P. munroi subsp. yargongensis in the same section, but it can be distinguished by its smaller calyxes, homostylous flowers, corolla tube throat without annular appendage and only 1--2 flowers in each inflorescence. Based on the assessment conducted according to the IUCN Red List criteria, we propose that P. weiliei be classified as a Critically Endangered (CR) species. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The skin coloration is one of the key characteristics of fish morphological diversity; understanding the molecular regulation mechanism of fish skin coloration has attracted a mounting number of attention and is also an important prerequisite for the future research on fish skin coloration genetics and skin coloration improvement breeding of fish. Pearlscale angelfish (Centropyge vrolikii) is a unique marine ornamental fish with tremendous market potential and is well favored by consumers in China, which has a wide variety of colorations and shapes. In this study, the distribution of pigment cells in the fins and scales was observed, and the pigment cells were mainly composed of melanocytes, xanthophore, iridophore, and erythrophore in C. vrolikii. The distribution of pigment cells in the tail scales is more concentrated than that in other parts. There are mainly melanocytes and yellow pigment cells in the anal fin, tail fin, and dorsal fin, and mainly xanthophore with a few melanocytes in the pectoral fin and abdominal fin. The tissues of the pectoral fin (PF), anal fin (AF), tail fin (TF), and eyeballs (EB) were sequenced by SOAPdenovo-Trans technology, the differentially expressed genes (DEGs) of skin coloration were screened, and the expression pattern of these genes in different tissues was analyzed. The results represented that a total of 159,213 all-unigene was assembled and gene annotation was carried out using COG, GO, KEGG, KOG, Pfam, Swissprot, eggNOG, and NR functional database. The Tyrp1, Slc45a2, Xdh, Mitf, Tyr, Hps5, Pomc, Pmel, and other genes related to the skin coloration were annotated. Through KEGG pathway enrichment analysis, it was found that tyrosine metabolism, MAPK, Wnt, and melanin production were involved in the regulation of skin coloration. At the same time, the DEGs related to melanin production (Mitf, Mc1r, Sox10, Tyr, Tyrp1, and Pomc) were screened to verify their expression in various tissues. The results also showed that Mitf and Tyr were highly expressed in eyeballs, Tyrp1 was highly expressed in skin, Sox10 and Pomc were highly expressed in the tail fin, and Mc1r was highly expressed in the heart and tail fin. The results suggested that these genes may play an important role in the process of skin coloration in C. vrolikii. This study will help to further understand the molecular regulatory mechanism of skin coloration and provide essential clues for accelerating skin coloration improvement in the future in C. vrolikii. During the investigation of lignicolous freshwater fungi in plateau lakes in Yunnan Province, China, eight Lentitheciaceae species were collected from five lakes viz. Luguhu, Qiluhu, Xingyunhu, Cibihu, and Xihu lake. Based on morphological characters and phylogenetic analysis of combined ITS, LSU, SSU, and tef 1-α sequence data, a new genus Paralentithecium, two new species (Paralentithecium suae, and Setoseptoria suae), three new records (Halobyssothecium phragmitis, H. unicellulare, and Lentithecium yunnanensis) and three known species viz. The development of Xiongan New Area in Hebei Province, China, as a significant national choice, has considerable strategic significance for the integrated growth of Beijing, Tianjin, and Hebei. This paper proposes a cloud model for the suitability evaluation of the construction of Xiongan New Area based on entropy weight analysis, taking into account the geological conditions, groundwater environment, environmental geological problems, and other factors of the suitability of image city development. According to the research, the suitability evaluation findings for the project building employing the cloud model are in strong accord with those of the traditional model and have some application potential. The evaluation's findings indicate that the project construction in Xiongan New Area is acceptable, with suitable and relatively suitable sites making up 81.4% of the total area and excellent circumstances for project development, construction, and usage. This study offers helpful direction for Xiongan New Area's urban land-space design and serves as a useful point of comparison for studies looking at the viability of other deep Quaternary Plain region engineering buildings. Amines affect particle formation, aerosol acidity, nitrogen cycle, and climate change. However, little is known about the temporal and spatial differences in the composition, source, and formation process of amines in fine particulate matter (PM2.5) in different regions of China. Seven amines (amine salts) were investigated in PM2.5 collected in the Yangtze River Delta (YRD, Shanghai and Nanjing), Pearl River Delta (PRD, Guangzhou), northern China (Xi'an and Haerbin), and background (Puding) areas in winter 2017–2018. Methylamine was the dominant amine species at the YRD, northern China, and background sites, while diethylamine dominated at the PRD site; moreover, the mass concentration and fraction of diethylamine were the lowest at the background site. These results could be attributed to changes in sources and atmospheric processes. Further, coal combustion and biomass burning were found to be important contributors of amines in northern cities in winter. The contribution of biomass and coal combustion to amines was weakened in other urban sites. In contrast, the amine abundance at the background site was largely controlled by biogenic sources. Acid‐base chemistry and displacement mechanism were tightly associated with the formation of amine salts at all sites. In particular, the atmospheric degradation of amines by hydroxyl radical (•OH) was significant at the Nanjing, Guangzhou, Xi'an, and Haerbin sites. The insignificant photochemical degradation of amines at the Shanghai and background sites can be explained by differentiated amine sources, meteorological conditions, and •OH levels. Overall, our findings deepen the understanding of the origins and atmospheric processes of amines. Plain Language Summary: Concentrations, compositions, potential sources, and major atmospheric processes of amines in winter PM2.5 in different regions of China were systematically investigated for the first time. The concentrations and compositions of amines in PM2.5 showed significant spatial differences, with the dominance of diethylamine at the Guangzhou site and the dominance of methylamine at other sites (Nanjing, Shanghai, Xi'an, Haerbin, and background sites). The influence of coal combustion associated with heating and industry was a typical feature that distinguishes the difference of amine sources between the coastal and northern areas. Acid‐base chemistry and displacement mechanism were tightly associated with the formation of amine salts in PM2.5 at all sites. The atmospheric processes related to •OH exerted a significant impact on the removal of amines at the Nanjing, Guangzhou, Xi'an, and Haerbin sites. Background: Human babesiosis is a worldwide disease caused by intraerythrocytic protozoa of the genus Babesia. It is transmitted by bites from ixodid ticks, and mechanically transmitted by blood transfusion. It is primarily treated with quinine and/or atovaquone, which are not readily available in China. In this study, we developed a novel treatment regimen involving doxycycline monotherapy in a patient with severe Babesia venatorum infection as an alternative therapeutic medication. The aim of our study is to provide a guidance for clinical practice treatment of human babesiosis. Case presentation: A 73-year-old man who had undergone splenectomy and blood transfusion 8 years prior, presented with an unexplained fever, headache, and thrombocytopenia, and was admitted to the Fifth Medical Center of the PLA General Hospital. He was diagnosed with B. venatorum infection by morphological review of thin peripheral blood smears, which was confirmed by multi-gene polymerase chain reaction (PCR), and sequencing of the entire 18s rRNA and partial β-tubulin encoding genes, as well as isolation by animal inoculation. The doxycycline monotherapy regimen (peros, 0.1 g bisindie) was administered following pharmacological guidance and an effective outcome was observed. The patient recovered rapidly following the doxycycline monotherapy. The protozoan load in peripheral blood samples decreased by 88% in hematocrit counts after 8 days, and negative PCR results were obtained after 90 days of follow-up at the hospital. The treatment lasted for 3 months without any side effects or sequelae. The nine-month follow-up survey of the patient did not reveal any signs of recrudescence or anti-babesial tolerance. Conclusions: We have reported a clinical case of successful doxycycline monotherapy for human babesiosis caused by B. venatorum, which provides an optional medical intervention for human babesiosis. Mist cannon trucks have been widely applied in megacities in China to reduce the road dust, since they are considered to be more water saving and efficient than the traditional sprinkling trucks. However, their effect on the formation of water-soluble organic compounds and the pollution control of fine particles (PM 2.5) remains unknown. We characterized the variations of chemical compositions in PM 2.5 collected on the road sides during the simulated operations of mist cannon truck and traditional sprinkling truck via Fourier transform ion cyclotron resonance mass spectrometry and ion chromatography. The mass concentrations of water-soluble organic carbon in PM 2.5 showed a significant increase (62 %–70 %) after air spraying. Furthermore, we found that water-soluble organic compounds, particularly organic nitrates, increased significantly via the interactions of reactive gas-phase organics, atmospheric oxidants and aerosol liquid water after air spraying, although the air spraying had a better effect on suppressing road dust than the ground aspersion. Moreover, the formation of PM 2.5 on the road segment where the mist cannon truck passed by was promoted, with an increase of up to 13 % in mass concentration after 25–35 min, on average. Thus, the application of mist cannon trucks potentially worsens the road atmospheric environment through the increase in PM 2.5 levels and the production of a large number of water-soluble organic compounds in PM 2.5. The overall results provide not only valuable insights to the formation processes of water-soluble organic compounds associated with aerosol liquid water in the road environment but also management strategies to regulate the operation of mist cannon trucks in China. A number of medical experts have become famous overnight in China since the outbreak of COVID-19. This research investigates four representative Chinese scientists by employing search analytics of the Baidu index (from December 2019 to May 2020) and content analysis of answers and commentaries on the Zhihu website (from January 2020 to May 2020). We find that the four scientists present different images and spark unprecedented publicity. In particular, the key to the transformation from scientists into public intellectuals is to demonstrate moral responsibility in public images, or to realize humorous and effective communication with the public. The birth of celebrity scientists has not only reshaped the public's traditional perception of scientists but also played a crucial role in the governance of pandemic risks by guiding the public's behavior and offering scientific ways to cope with risks. This article reports on an empirical study of refusal strategies in Chinese by native speakers (NS) and nonnative Chinese learners (NNS). Sixty subjects (perceived as "students") were to refuse an invitation by "the professor" to a Chinese New Year's party. The study found that the NS group produced 10 strategies, whereas the NNS group produced seven strategies. Among the total number of strategies, both groups favored the use of "apology" and "explanation" with similar frequency while differing in the choice of other strategies and their usage frequency. In direct refusals, the author noticed negative L1 (English) pragmatic transfer of NNS. The study found that L1 and L2 refusals in Chinese present fewer similarities and more differences, presumably due to the lack of L1 intercultural knowledge of L2 learners. Tungsten-tin-(rare-metal) deposits are most commonly granite-related and an important source of critical metals. This study describes the fluid evolution in the Tiantangshan Rb-Sn-W deposit, Nanling Range, China, and discusses the implications for mineralizing processes. Mineralization at Tiantangshan is spatially zoned. The greisen roof hosts wolframite-cassiterite quartz veins. The surrounding volcanic rocks host biotite quartz veins (Rb mineralization) crosscut by cassiterite quartz veins and sphalerite-galena quartz veins. The earliest intermediate-density fluids are responsible for the early W-(Sn)-Rb mineralization and evolve towards decreasing homogenization temperature (Th) and ratios of W, Sn, Rb, Cs, Fe, and Mn to Na + K as the fluid migrated from the greisen to the volcanic rocks hosted veins (Th: 420 to 350 °C; salinity: 13 to 4 wt% NaCleq). The spatial distribution of mineralization and fluid paragenesis indicates that precipitation of wolframite, early cassiterite, and Rb-rich biotite was associated with a pH increase during fluid-rock interaction. Late cassiterite and intergrown quartz precipitated from a degassing fluid with lower Th (mainly 360 to 340 °C) and salinity (10 to 2 wt% NaCleq) and with distinctly lower Sn concentrations. Late cassiterite precipitation is therefore likely related with depressurization by brittle failure of the rock leading to simultaneous boiling and meteoric water input. Late Pb–Zn mineralization precipitated from low Th (< 320 °C) and salinity (0 to 2 wt% NaCleq) fluids through extensive mixing with meteoric water. The tempo-spatial development of Rb-Sn-W-Pb–Zn mineralization at Tiantangshan was controlled by a mixing fluid regime, where input of meteoric water gradually increased with time. Hypophosphatasia (HPP) is an inherited disease caused by ALPL mutation, resulting in decreased alkaline phosphatase (ALP) activity and damage to bone and tooth mineralization. The clinical symptoms of adult HPP are variable, making diagnosis challenging. This study aims to clarify the clinical and genetic characteristics of HPP in Chinese adults. There were 19 patients, including 1 with childhood-onset and 18 with adult-onset HPP. The median age was 62 (32–74) years and 16 female patients were involved. Common symptoms included musculoskeletal symptoms (12/19), dental problems (8/19), fractures (7/19), and fatigue (6/19). Nine patients (47.4%) were misdiagnosed with osteoporosis and six received anti-resorptive treatment. The average serum ALP level was 29.1 (14–53) U/L and 94.7% (18/19) of patients had ALP levels below 40 U/L. Genetic analysis found 14 ALPL mutations, including three novel mutations—c.511C>G (p.His171Ala), c.782C>A (p.Pro261Gln), and 1399A>G (p.Met467Val). The symptoms of two patients with compound heterozygous mutations were more severe than those with heterozygous mutations. Our study summarized the clinical characteristics of adult HPP patients in the Chinese population, expanded the spectrum of pathogenic mutations, and deepened clinicians' understanding of this neglected disease. Objective: The Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) has brought severe damage to global health and socioeconomics. In China, traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) is the most important complementary and alternative medicine (CAM) and it has shown a beneficial role in the prevention and treatment of COVID-19. However, it is unknown whether patients are willing to accept TCM treatment. The objective of our study is to investigate the acceptance, attitude, and independent predictors of TCM among asymptomatic COVID-19 patients admitted to Shanghai fangcang hospital during the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic in Shanghai in 2022. Methods: A cross-sectional study was conducted on asymptomatic COVID-19 patients in the largest fangcang hospital in Shanghai, China, from April 22, 2022, to May 25, 2022. Based on the literature review of previous similar studies, a self-report questionnaire was developed to assess the patients' attitude and acceptance of TCM, and a multivariate logistic regression analysis was conducted to determine the independent predictors of TCM acceptance. Results: A total of 1,121 patients completed the survey, of whom 91.35% were willing to accept CAM treatment whereas 8.65% of participants showed no willingness. Multivariate logistic regression analysis revealed that the patients who have received two doses of COVID-19 vaccine (OR = 2.069, 95%CI: 1.029–4.162, P = 0.041 vs. not received), understood the culture of TCM (OR = 2.293, 95%CI: 1.029–4.162, P = 0.014 vs. not understood), thought the TCM treatment is safe (OR = 2.856, 95%CI: 1.334–6.112, P = 0.007 vs. not thought), thought the TCM treatment is effective (OR = 2.724, 95%CI: 1.249–5.940, P = 0.012 vs. not thought), and those who informed their attending physician if using TCM for treatment (OR = 3.455, 95%CI:1.867–6.392, P < 0.001 vs. not informed) were more likely to accept TCM treatment. However, patients who thought TCM might delay your treatment (OR = 0.256, 95%CI: 0.142–0.462, P < 0.001 not thought) was an independent predictor for unwillingness to accept TCM treatment. Conclusion: This study preliminarily investigated the acceptance, attitude, and predictors of intention to receive TCM among asymptomatic COVID-19 patients. Introduction: In malaria-free countries, imported cases are challenging because interconnections with neighboring countries with higher transmission rates increase the risk of parasite reintroduction. Establishing a genetic database for rapidly identifying malaria importation or reintroduction is crucial in addressing these challenges. This study aimed to examine genomic epidemiology during the pre-elimination stage by retrospectively reporting whole-genome sequence variation of 10 Plasmodium vivax isolates from inland China. Methods: The samples were collected during the last few inland outbreaks from 2011 to 2012 when China implemented a malaria control plan. After next-generation sequencing, we completed a genetic analysis of the population, explored the geographic specificity of the samples, and examined clustering of selection pressures. We also scanned genes for signals of positive selection. Results: China’s inland populations were highly structured compared to the surrounding area, with a single potential ancestor. Additionally, we identified genes under selection and evaluated the selection pressure on drug-resistance genes. In the inland population, positive selection was detected in some critical gene families, including sera, msp3, and vir. Meanwhile, we identified selection signatures in drug resistance, such as ugt, krs1, and crt, and noticed that the ratio of wild-type dhps and dhfr-ts increased after China banned sulfadoxine-pyrimethamine (SP) for decades. Discussion: Our data provides an opportunity to investigate the molecular epidemiology of pre-elimination inland malaria populations, which exhibited lower selection pressure on invasion and immune evasion genes than neighbouring areas, but increased drug resistance in low transmission settings. Our results revealed that the inland population was severely fragmented with low relatedness among infections, despite a higher incidence of multiclonal infections, suggesting that superinfection or co-transmission events are rare in low-endemic circumstances. We identified selective signatures of resistance and found that the proportion of susceptible isolates fluctuated in response to the prohibition of specific drugs. This finding is consistent with the alterations in medication strategies during the malaria elimination campaign in inland China. Coastal wetlands are key features of the Earth's surface and are characterized by a diverse array of coupled geomorphological and biological processes. However, the links between the distribution of biodiversity (for example, species and structural diversity) and the formation of coastal geomorphology are not well‐understood on a landscape scale most useful to coastal zone managers. This study describes the relationship between select geomorphological and biological mangrove community features (i.e. species composition and functional root type) in a landscape‐distributed coastal zone of Dongzhaigang Bay, north‐eastern Hainan Island, China. A total of 11 mangrove species and five functional aerial root types were encountered, with the location of species by root types being controlled by the elevation of the soil surface. Plank roots, prop roots and pneumatophores occupied the lowest intertidal elevations, while knee roots and fibrous roots of the mangrove fern, Acrostichum aureum, preferred the highest intertidal elevations. Surface sediment deposition in areas with mangroves was greater than deposition in non‐mangrove forest zones, establishing an important biological mechanism for this large‐area response because surface erosion/compaction was also more prominent within mangrove roots. Indeed, functional root type influenced the magnitude of deposition, erosion and compaction, with knee roots and pneumatophores being more effective in promoting deposition and preventing surface erosion/compaction than prop roots. These results indicate a potential role for vegetation type (especially functional root type) to influence coastal geomorphological processes at large landscape scales. While soil surface elevation is correlated to the distribution of mangrove species and functional root types, a significant feedback exists between elevation change and the capacity of those root types to influence coastal geomorphological differentiation within sustainable intertidal elevations. An enhanced understanding of geomorphological development, mangrove species distribution and functional root type may improve management to support nature‐based solutions that adjust more effectively to sea‐level rise through feedbacks. Material demand forecasting has a profound impact on the supply chain and is an important prerequisite for manufacturing enterprises to produce. In order to accurately predict the material demand of enterprises, this paper proposes a material demand forecasting algorithm based on multi-dimensional feature fusion (DFMF). Secondly, in order to obtain the spatial features, the vector representation of the relevant materials of a material is obtained through the attention mechanism. Then, the authors aggregate the relevant material representation and material vector representation of materials to obtain the final material vector representation through aggregation function. Then the final material vector representation under different time scales is used as input, and the prediction value of material demand is obtained by using BP neural network. [Objectives] To predict the future range of the Fall Webworm (Hyphantria cunea) in China in order to improve the prevention and control of this pest. [Methods] Records of the Fall Webworm collected in China from 2003 to 2020 were obtained and organized, and 19 bioclimatic variables for that period were calculated based on the monthly maximum and minimum temperatures and monthly precipitation. DEM data were obtained and future climate variables under different climate scenarios were calculated. The nine most important environmental variables were identified by VIF and Spearman's rank correlation. Suitable current, and future, habitat for the Fall Webworm were then predicted based on an integrated Biomod2 model. [Results] Suitable habitat for the Fall Webworm is currently concentrated in Liaoning, Shandong, Hebei, Anhui and other provinces. The range of the Fall Webworm is predicted to increase under different climate scenarios, with the overall trend being an expansion of the species' range into northeastern and southern China. [Conclusion] The results provide early warning of areas likely to be colonized by the Fall Webworm, allowing appropriate control measures to be implemented beforehand to prevent its spread. Objective To explore the application of membranous concept in vestibular schwannoma surgery. Methods A total of 39 patients with vestibular schwannoma who received membranous surgical treatment in The First Affiliated Hospital of Anhui Medical University from May 2020 to June 2021 were enrolled. Through the retrosigmoid approach, the intraoperative electrophysiological monitoring was performed, and the membranous concept was used to separate the brain stem of the tumor and the interface between the tumor and the facial nerve and the cochlear nerve. Facial nerve function was evaluated by the House-Brackmann (H -B) grade and hearing was evaluated by the American Academy of Otolaryngology- Head and Neck Surgery (AAO-HNS) scale at one day, one week and one year after surgery. Results Total resection was performed in 31 cases (79.49%) and nearly total resection in 8 cases (20.51%). Facial nerve anatomical preservation was achieved in all patients, and facial nerve function returned to normal or nearly normal (H - B grade I - II) 84.62% (33/39), moderate facial paralysis (H - B grade III) 10.27% (4/39), moderate and severe facial paralysis (H-B grade IV) 5.13% (2/39) on the first day after surgery. One week after surgery, 71.79% (28/39) of patients with normal or nearly normal facial nerve function, 15.38% (6/39) of moderate facial paralysis, 10.27% (4/39) of moderate and severe facial paralysis, and 2.56% (1/39) of severe facial paralysis (H-B grade V). One year after surgery, 92.31% (36/39) of patients with facial nerve function returned to normal or nearly normal, 5.13% (2/39) of patients with moderate facial paralysis, and 2.56% (1/39) of patients with moderate and severe facial paralysis. Among the 10 patients (25.64%) who retained effective hearing before surgery (AAO-HNS grade ≥ C), there were 4, 3 and 6 cases at one day, one week and one year after surgery, respectively. Those who did not retain effective hearing before surgery did not recover effective hearing after surgery. According to the comparison of tumor volume and nature, the proportion of patients with normal facial nerve function (H-B grade I) in the tumor volume ≤ 3 cm group was higher than that in > 3 cm group [12/18 vs. 19.05% (4/21); Fisher's exact probability: P = 0.006], the proportion of patients with normal facial nerve function in the solid tumor group was higher than that in cystic group [71.43% (15/21) vs. 1/10; Fisher's exact probability: P = 0.010] at one year after surgery. Rooftop solar photovoltaics (RSPV) plays an important role in energy transition and climate goals. However, the contribution of RSPV to the dual carbon targets (DCTs) has not yet been quantitatively investigated at the national or global scale. Here, we investigate this contribution with an improved Stochastic Impacts by Regression on the Population, Affluence, and Technology (STIRPAT) model. We find out the time-advance effect of China's pilot RSPV program, i.e., doubling expansion of the current pilot area helps that the DCTs will be achieved 5 years ahead of schedule; a full expansion plan from merely six identified key provinces can be enough to guarantee that China will achieve carbon peak and carbon neutrality 5 and 4 years ahead of their respective time schedules. This effect implies global RSPV development; about 25 % of the world's buildable rooftops for RSPV installation will help reduce 1.4 billion tons of carbon emissions per year and thus achieve global carbon neutrality by 2050. Evidence on the relationship between prenatal exposure to NO2 and CO and spontaneous abortion (SAB) is insufficient. We investigated whether there is an association between maternal exposure to nitrogen dioxide (NO2) and carbon monoxide (CO) before and during pregnancy and SAB. We conducted a case-control study using medical records of 2445 pregnant women who admitted for abortion prior to 20 weeks of gestational age from January 2014 to December 2019 at a tertiary-care hospital in Shanghai, China. Of the 2445 participants, 1075 were SAB cases and 1370 were healthy controls (underwent elective abortions). Maternal exposure to NO2 and CO before and during pregnancy was estimated using daily air pollution concentration data. Multivariable logistic regression models were constructed to quantify the relationships between maternal exposure to NO2 or CO and the risk of SAB while controlling for potential confounders. NO2 exposure levels during pregnancy were significantly higher in SAB cases than in healthy controls (42.26 vs. 40.67, p <.01). NO2 exposure during pregnancy was positively associated with the risk of SAB. An interquartile range (16 μg/m3) increase in NO2 exposure was associated with 68% increase in the odds of SAB (OR = 1.68, 95% CI, 1.28, 2.21). Analyses of associations by quartile of NO2 exposure showed that elevated NO2 exposure during pregnancy was associated with increased odds of SAB in linear dose–response manners. Compared with the lowest quartile of NO2 exposure, the odds of SAB in the fourth quartile of NO2 exposure increased 61% (OR = 1.61, 95% CI, 1.03–2.53). No associations of CO exposure with SAB risk were observed. Our study suggested that exposure to NO2 during early pregnancy was associated with increased risk of SAB. Objective To discuss the strategy for cervical dumbbell-shaped tumors and develop a proposal for individualized therapy. Methods and Results Total 32 patients with cervical dumbbell - shaped tumors were recruited from The First Affiliated Hospital of Anhui Medical University from March 2017 to March 2022. All patients received surgical treatments, while the tumors located in C1-2 levels among 7 patients and C2-7 levels among 25 patients. Preoperative McCormick spinal cord function grade I in 9 cases, grade II in 12 cases, grade III in 11 cases. Individualized surgical strategies were set according to the results of Toyama typing, preoperative imaging examination and intraoperative spinal stability. Surgery through posterior approach was performed in 26 cases, 2 patients underwent a lateral posterior sternocleidomastoid approach, 2 patients underwent surgery through combined posterior - anterolateral approach, and 2 patients received anterior cervical approach. Ninteen out of 32 patients with preoperatively unstable spinal factors or changes in spinal stability resulting from surgery received one - stage internal fixation. One patient underwent anterior cervical corpectomy and fusion followed by titanium cage implantation, and 18 patients underwent posterior trans-pedicle and lateral mass screw fixation. The results showed a gross total resection for all patients and the success rate was 100% (32/32). The average intraoperative blood loss was about 210 ml. Imaging examinations were performed for all patients within a week after the surgery, the internal fixator were all in good position. One month after the surgery McCormick spinal cord function grade I in 20 cases, grade II in 10 cases, grade III in 2 cases. All patients had varying degrees of improvement in symptoms, no cerebrospinal fluid leakage, no serious nervous system infection and other complications, no postoperative cervical kyphosis, and no loosening or breakage of the screws and rods were found in 28 months after surgery, the bone graft fusion and vertebral body shape were good. Conclusions The size of the intervertebral foramen is one of the important factors to be considered in the surgical strategy of cervical dumbbell-typed tumors. The surgical management of C1-2 dumbbell-typed tumors is different from that of other levels, it is necessary to understand the patient's medical history, symptoms and signs in detail and to improve imaging evaluation before surgery. The 74Se is one of 35 p-nuclei, and 82Se is a r-process only nucleus, and their (n, Îł) cross sections are vital input parameters for nuclear astrophysics reaction network calculations. The neutron capture cross section in the resonance range of isotopes and even natural selenium samples has not been measured. Prompt Îł -rays originating from neutron-induced capture events were detected by four C6D6 liquid scintillator detectors at the Back-n facility of China Spallation Neutron Source (CSNS). The pulse height weighting technique (PHWT) was used to analyze the data in the 1 eV to 100 keV region. The deduced neutron capture cross section was compared with ENDF/B-VIII.0, JEFF-3.2, and JENDL-4.0, and some differences were found. Resonance parameters were extracted by the R -matrix code SAMMY in the 1 eVâ€"1 keV region. All the cross sections of natSe and resonance parameters are given in the datasets. Tourism industry played an increasingly prominent role in the socio-economic development in China. Therefore, it is of great significance to forecast the tourism demand, to analyze the development tendency of tourism, to explore the mode of economic linkage, and eventually to reveal the development regulation of tourism industry. In this paper, the empirical mode decomposition, the support vector regression, and the error factor adjustment were combined to forecast the tourism demand of Sanya City. The results demonstrate that the proposed model is more accurate than other models. Campaign-style environmental implementation (CEI) is widely exerted in environmental protection, while its benefits and costs are controversial. We take advantage of the Central Environmental Protection Inspection (CEPI) System—a latest and distinguished form of CEI launched by China in 2016, as a quasi-natural experiment, to compare the benefits and costs of CEI based on water pollution effect estimates. Our results based on the annual panel data from 500 cities during 2009–2018 show that CEPI significantly reduced water pollution by an average of 20.7%. Further cost–benefit analysis based on the estimates of water pollution reduction shows that the potential health benefits of mortality and morbidity reduction resulting from CEPI are at least $12.26 billion, without bearing additional economic costs. We also explore why CEPI is cost-effective and find that CEPI reduces water pollution and becomes cost-effective mainly through deterring local officials, punishing polluting enterprises, and increasing public participation in environmental governance. Recent studies have suggested a link between bullying victimization and passive bystander behaviors, such as more outsider behaviors and fewer defender behaviors. However, little is known about the internal mechanism underpinning this relation. The present study aimed to examine the direct and indirect relationships between bullying victimization and two types of bystander behaviors (defender behavior and outsider behavior), considering the possible mediator role of bullying sensitivity and moral disengagement among Chinese adolescents. Participants were 435 primary school students aged from 11 to 13 years (M = 12.27, SD = 0.69) who completed measurements of bullying victimization, bullying sensitivity, moral disengagement, and bystander behaviors. The results of the total effect model indicated that bullying victimization was positively related to outsider behavior and negatively related to defender behavior. The results from the structural equation modelling (SEM) analysis showed that bullying sensitivity mediated the relationship between bullying victimization and defender behavior. The relationship between bullying victimization and outsider behavior was mediated by moral disengagement, as well as the multiple mediation of bullying sensitivity and moral disengagement. These results highlight the roles of bullying sensitivity and moral disengagement in explaining the relation between bullying victimization and bystander behavior among adolescent students. Background: Diabetic retinopathy (DR) has become a leading cause of global blindness as a microvascular complication of diabetes. Regular screening of diabetic retinopathy is strongly recommended for people with diabetes so that timely treatment can be provided to reduce the incidence of visual impairment. However, DR screening is not well carried out due to lack of eye care facilities, especially in the rural areas of China. Artificial intelligence (AI) based DR screening has emerged as a novel strategy and show promising diagnostic performance in sensitivity and specificity, relieving the pressure of the shortage of facilities and ophthalmologists because of its quick and accurate diagnosis. In this study, we estimated the cost-effectiveness of AI screening for DR in rural China based on Markov model, providing evidence for extending use of AI screening for DR.Methods: We estimated the cost-effectiveness of AI screening and compared it with ophthalmologist screening in which fundus images are evaluated by ophthalmologists. We developed a Markov model-based hybrid decision tree to analyze the costs, effectiveness and incremental cost-effectiveness ratio (ICER) of AI screening strategies relative to no screening strategies and ophthalmologist screening strategies (dominated) over 35 years (mean life expectancy of diabetes patients in rural China). The analysis was conducted from the health system perspective (included direct medical costs) and societal perspective (included medical and nonmedical costs). Effectiveness was analyzed with quality-adjusted life years (QALYs). The robustness of results was estimated by performing one-way sensitivity analysis and probabilistic analysis.Results: From the health system perspective, AI screening and ophthalmologist screening had incremental costs of $180.19 and $215.05 but more quality-adjusted life years (QALYs) compared with no screening. AI screening had an ICER of $1,107.63. From the societal perspective which considers all direct and indirect costs, AI screening had an ICER of $10,347.12 compared with no screening, below the cost-effective threshold (1-3 times per capita GDP of Chinese in 2019).Conclusions: Our analysis demonstrates that AI-based screening is more cost-effective compared with conventional ophthalmologist screening and holds great promise to be an alternative approach for DR screening in the rural area of China. Phylogenetic analysis of DNA sequences of three mitochondrial (COI, COII and ND2) and six nuclear (28S, atpA, CAD, EF2, HSPA4 and TUBA1) gene regions recovered a novel lineage (Crypsisteganasubgen.n.) and lends support to the monophyly of the subgenus Oxyphortica. Integrating molecular and morphological evidence, we revise the taxonomic status of Oxyphortica, reclassify species of uncertain affinity into four new species groups (adentata, geisson, polystylata and subconvergens) and place five new species discovered from southern China in Crypsisteganasubgen.n. and two species groups (geisson and polystylata) of Oxyphortica, respectively. To evaluate the performance of individual genes in phylogenetic inference, the phylogenetic informativeness profiles were generated. The results reveal mitochondrial loci possess much greater phylogenetic signal to resolve species‐level relationships, while nuclear loci perform better at the subgenus level within the genus Stegana. In addition, both tectonic and climatic events appear to have played pivotal roles in the diversification of Oxyphortica. The present distribution pattern of this subgenus might have been shaped from a rapid adaptive radiation in Southwest China as a secondary area of endemicity. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Background: Cross-border malaria in Laiza City of Myanmar seriously affected Yingjiang County of China and compromised reaching the goal of malaria elimination by 2020. Since 2017, a pilot project on 3 + 1 strategy of joint cross-border malaria prevention and control was carried out for building a malaria buffer in these border areas. Here, 3 were the three preventive lines in China where different focalized approaches of malaria elimination were applied and + 1 was a defined border area in Myanmar where the integrated measures of malaria control were adopted.Methods: A 5-year retrospective analysis (2015 to 2019) was conducted that included case detection, parasite prevalence and vector surveillance. Descriptive statistics was used and the incidence or rates were compared. The annual parasite incidence and the parasite prevalence rate in + 1 area of Myanmar, the annual importation rate in Yingjiang County of China and the density of An. minimus were statistically significant indictors to assess the effectiveness of the 3 + 1 strategy.Results: In + 1 area of Myanmar from 2015 to 2019, the averaged annual parasite incidence was (59.11 ± 40.73)/1000 and Plasmodium vivax accounted for 96.27% of the total confirmed cases. After the pilot project, the annual parasite incidence dropped 89% from 104.77/1000 in 2016 to 12.18/1000 in 2019, the microscopic parasite prevalence rate dropped 100% from 0.34% in 2017 to zero in 2019 and the averaged density of An. Minimus per trap-night dropped 93% from 1.92 in June to 0.13 in September. The submicroscopic parasite prevalence rate increased from 1.15% in 2017 to 1.66% in 2019 without significant difference between the two surveys (P = 0.084). In Yingjiang County of China, neither indigenous nor introduced case was reported and 100% cases were imported from Myanmar since 2017. The averaged annual importation rate from 2015 to 2019 was (0.47 ± 0.15)/1000. After the pilot project, the annual importation rate dropped from 0.59/1000 in 2016 to 0.28/1000 in 2019 with an overall reduction of 53% in the whole county. The reduction was 67% (57.63/1000 to 18.01/1000) in the first preventive line, 52% (0.20/1000 to 0.10/1000) in the second preventive line and 36% (0.32/1000 to 0.22/1000) in the third preventive line. The averaged density of An. Minimus per trap-night in the first preventive line dropped 94% from 2.55 in June to 0.14 in September, without significant difference from that of + 1 area of Myanmar (Z value = - 1.18, P value = 0.24).Conclusion: The pilot project on 3 + 1 strategy has been significantly effective in the study areas and a buffer zone of border malaria was successfully established between Laiza City of Myanmar and Yingjiang County of China. As the supplement of the flora of Zhejiang, East China, two new species were described with illustrations. Cerastium huadingense Y.F.Lu, W.Y.Xie & X.F.Jin (Caryophyllaceae) differs from C. qingliangfengicum in having sterile stems absent, leaves sessile, petals slightly longer than sepals, and stamens slightly shorter than sepals. Ixeridium dimorphifolium Y.L.Xu, Y.F.Lu & X.Cai (Asteraceae) differs from I. beauverdianum in having plant stoloniferous, basal leaves dimorphic, involucre 8-10 mm long, inner phyllaries 8, and florets 7-10. Paraphlomis setulosa C.Y.Wu & H.W.Li (Lamiaceae) was reviewed and morphological characters of the corolla and stamens of its type and the specimens collected in the field survey were critically examined. With barbate anthers and strongly divergent anther cells, Paraphlomis setulosa was transferred to Sinopogonanthera, and S. setulosa (C.Y.Wu & H.W.Li) H.W.Zhang & X.F.Jin was consequently combined. During investigations into freshwater fungi from the Great Mekong Subregion, four Distoseptispora taxa were collected from China and Thailand. Based on morphological characteristics, and phylogenetic analyses of combined LSU, ITS, SSU, TEF1-a, and RPB2 sequence data, two new species Distoseptispora bangkokensis and D. lancangjiangensis are introduced, and two known species D. clematidis and D. thysanolaenae were first reported in freshwater habitat. Aim: To deeply explore the experience of front‐line nurses who participated in rescuing Wuhan during the early stage of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID‐19) epidemic. Methods: Using a descriptive qualitative design, individual semi‐structured interviews were conducted between February 25 and March 5, 2020. A conventional content analysis method was used in data analysis to extract themes and sub‐themes. Results: Six themes emerged after data analysis: (a) worries and stress during rescue; (b) difficulties encountered during rescue; (c) experience of team work; (d) experience of interaction with COVID‐19 patients; (e) experience of logistic support and widespread concern; and (f) value and significance of the experience. Conclusions: Nurses took on difficult missions in the rescue and played an irreplaceable role. They experienced remarkable psychological changes over the intensive work. It was necessary to understand the feelings and problems of the nurses so as to establish a healthcare system that can protect medical staff effectively in future disasters. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Objective: To assess the association of baseline anti‐Müllerian hormone (AMH) levels with ovulation, time to ovulation and fertility outcomes in women with polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) receiving clomiphene citrate (CC) and compare this with placebo. Design: Secondary analysis of the PCOSAct trial (NCT01573858). Setting: 27 trial centres in mainland China. Population or sample: 1000 infertile women with PCOS receiving either CC or placebo. Methods: Baseline serum AMH was measured and analysed as a continuous and as a categorical variable. Interaction between AMH and CC was tested. Predictive values of AMH for ovulation, time to ovulation and fertility outcomes were assessed. Main outcome measures: Ovulation and time to ovulation. Results: 900 baseline AMH data were available for analysis. There were no significant interactions with ovulation or conception for AMH and CC treatment (P = 0.782 and 0.419, respectively). Women in the upper quartile of AMH >15.88 ng/ml had significant lower ovulation (odds ratio [OR] 0.34, 95% CI 0.20–0.58) and conception rates (OR 0.65, 95% CI 0.42–1.00) compared with women in the lower quartile. Associations of AMH with clinical pregnancy (OR 0.98, 95% CI 0.95–1.01) and live birth (OR 0.98, 95% CI 0.96–1.01) were not significant. Ovulation rate increased until baseline AMH levels ≥7.0 ng/ml in women treated with CC but decreased when AMH increased in women with placebo. When AMH <7.0 ng/ml, an AMH threshold at 4.11 ng/ml predicted ovulation in women receiving CC (area under the curve [AUC] 0.64, 95% CI 0.42–0.86), with a sensitivity of 64% and a specificity of 62%, whereas prediction was poor for AMH ≥7.0 ng/ml (AUC 0.38, 95% CI 0.28–0.47). Median time to ovulation was 35 days in the lower quartile for women with placebo but this was significantly prolonged up to 98 days in the upper quartile. CC significantly shortened the time to ovulation up to 56 days. Conclusions: Among women with PCOS, high baseline AMH levels were associated with a 20.1% lower chance of ovulation with a 63‐day longer time to ovulation. AMH can predict ovulation only when the baseline AMH level was <7.0 ng/ml in women with PCOS undergoing ovulation induction with CC. Ovulation rate increased until baseline AMH levels ≥7.0 ng/ml in women treated with CC; a successful ovulation and time to ovulation was highly associated with baseline AMH level in these women. The Stegana (Steganina) shirozui species group is mainly distributed in East Asia. In the present study, the molecular phylogeny of the S. shirozui group was investigated based on mitochondrial (COI and ND2) and nuclear (28S rRNA) markers. The resulting trees support the S. shirozui group as monophyletic and indicate that in this group, species associated with closer affinities show higher structural homogeneity in male genitalia. Molecular species delimitation assess most species limits and recognize four new species in the S. shirozui group from south-west China: S. alianya sp. nov. S. diodonta sp. nov. S. zebromyia sp. nov. and S. zopheria sp. nov. One new synonym was also recognized. Additionally, three typical male genital characters of the S. shirozui group were placed on the molecular phylogenetic framework. The outcome of both divergence-time estimation and ancestral area reconstruction suggests that the S. shirozui group likely originated in south-west China in the Middle Miocene. Cervical cancer is the fourth most common cancer worldwide, but its incidence varies greatly in different countries. Regardless of incidence or mortality, the burden of cervical cancer in China accounts for approximately 18% of the global burden. The Chinese Cervical Cancer Clinical Study is a hospital-based multicenter open cohort. The major aims of this study include (i) to explore the associations of therapeutic strategies with complications as well as mid- and long-term clinical outcomes; (ii) to widely assess the factors which may have an influence on the prognosis of cervical cancer and then guide the treatment options, and to estimate prognosis using a prediction model for precise post-treatment care and follow-up; (iii) to develop a knowledge base of cervical clinical auxiliary diagnosis and prognosis prediction using artificial intelligence and machine learning approaches; and (iv) to roughly map the burden of cervical cancer in different districts and monitoring the trend in incidence of cervical cancer to potentially inform prevention and control strategies. Patients eligible for inclusion were those diagnosed with cervical cancer, whether during an outpatient visit or hospital admission, at 47 different types of medical institutions in 19 cities of 11 provinces across mainland China between 2004 and 2018. In a total, 63 926 patients with cervical cancer were enrolled in the cohort. Since the project inception, a large number of standardized variables have been collected, including epidemiological characteristics, cervical cancer-related symptoms, physical examination results, laboratory testing results, imaging reports, tumor biomarkers, tumor staging, tumor characteristics, comorbidities, co-infections, treatment and short-term complications. Follow-up was performed at least once every 6 months within the first 5 years after receiving treatment and then annually thereafter. At present, we are developing a cervical cancer imaging database containing Dicom files with data of computed tomography/magnetic resonance imaging examination. Additionally, we are also collecting original pathological specimens of patients with cervical cancer. Carbapenem-resistant Pseudomonas aeruginosa (CRPA) is a public health concern worldwide, but comprehensive analysis of risk factors for CRPA remains limited in China. We conducted a retrospective observational study of carbapenem resistance in 71,880 P. aeruginosa isolates collected in Zhejiang Province during 2015-2017. We analyzed risk factors for CRPA, including the type of clinical specimen; the year, season, and region in which it was collected; patient information, including age, whether they were an outpatient or inpatient, and whether inpatients were in the intensive care unit or general ward; and the level of hospital submitting isolates. We found CRPA was more prevalent among isolates from patients >60 years of age and in inpatients, especially in intensive care units. In addition, specimen types and seasons in which they were collected were associated with higher rates of CRPA. Our findings can help hospitals reduce the spread of P. aeruginosa and optimize antimicrobial drug use. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

In response to reports of people experiencing varying levels of anxiety and depression during the outbreak of COVID-19, researchers have argued that exposure to related information on social media is a salient contributing factor. Based on the integrated model of ruminative response style and the diathesis–stress model, it has been suggested that incorporating rumination and mindfulness may elucidate the potential mechanism underlying the aforementioned association. This study aimed to examine the mediating role of rumination and the moderating role of mindfulness in the association between social media exposure (SME) to COVID-19 information and psychological distress. The results from online questionnaire responses of 439 college students from two universities in Wuhan, Hubei Province, showed that rumination mediated the association between SME and psychological distress. Furthermore, mindfulness was revealed as a protective factor that buffered the adverse effect of SME on psychological distress through rumination. These findings advance a better understanding of the formation process of psychological symptoms during the COVID-19 pandemic and provide insights regarding effective interventions for adverse mental health consequences in college students. Background Villoglandular adenocarcinoma is a rare sub- type of cervical adenocarcinoma. Objective To analyze the clinicopathological features and evaluate the prognosis of patients with villoglandular adenocarcinoma of the cervix. Methods Patient characteristics, procedure, pathology, and surgical outcomes were retrospectively reviewed in patients with villoglandular adenocarcinoma between November 2006 and June 2019 from multiple centers in China. In order to explore the difference between villoglandular adenocarcinoma and routine adenocarcinoma, patients (FIGO 2009 stage IA1-IB2) who had complete data during the same time period were included. Results A total of 60 patients with villoglandular adenocarcinoma and 104 with standard adenocarcinoma were included. The median age of the patients with villoglandular adenocarcinoma was 42 years (range 27--68). The most common 2009 FIGO stage was IB1 in 39 (65%) patients with villoglandular adenocarcinoma. A total of 23 patients underwent laparoscopic surgery (two total hysterectomies, 21 radical hysterectomies) and the other 37 patients underwent laparotomy (three total hysterectomies, 34 radical hysterectomies). A total of 56 patients underwent lymphadenectomy and three (5.4%) had positive lymph nodes. Fifteen (25%) patients had one or both ovaries preserved. Seven patients were lost to follow- up. The median follow- up time for the entire group was 50.2 months (range 5.1--154.6). No deaths or recurrences occurred. Excluding six patients with FIGO 2009 stage II, the 5- year disease- free survival of the 47 patients with villoglandular adenocarcinoma with FIGO 2009 stage I for whom there was follow- up, was significantly higher than that of the 104 patients with standard cervical adenocarcinoma (100% vs 92.2%, logrank p=0.039). However, the 5- year overall survival of the two groups did not differ (100% vs 95.7%, log- rank p=0.11). Conclusion Villoglandular adenocarcinoma has a favorable prognosis. Anxiety and depressive symptoms frequently co-occur in adolescence and confer greater distress compared to experiencing either symptom alone. A causal model (anxiety symptoms predicting depressive symptoms), a correlated liabilities model (vulnerabilities interacting with stressors to predict both symptoms), and a diathesis-anxiety model (vulnerabilities interacting with anxiety symptoms to predict depressive symptoms) have all been proposed as explanations for the relation between depression and anxiety. To date, however, research has mostly examined these models among North American/Western European adolescents. In response, the present study sought to identify the best explanatory model concerning the relationship between anxiety and depressive symptoms among Chinese adolescents. 494 10th grade students were assessed for their perceived levels of family cohesion and conflict, stressors, and depressive and anxiety symptoms. Every 3 months for 18 months, youth reported their symptoms and stressors. Symptoms and stressors were person-mean and grand-mean centered to compare nomothetic and idiographic conceptualizations of vulnerability. Overall, evidence suggested a reciprocal, versus causal, relation between anxiety and depressive symptoms. Further, while cohesion and conflict independently predicted anxiety and depressive symptoms, their interactions with stressors were not supported. Ultimately, strong support was found for a diathesis-anxiety model using an idiographic conceptualization of anxiety, such that low perceived family cohesion interacted with within-subject fluctuations of anxiety to predict prospective depressive symptoms. This study provides cross-cultural support for a diathesis-anxiety model and shows the importance of distinguishing between positive and negative family functioning when examining vulnerability in Chinese adolescents.
