The idea of used territory comes from the need to bring it closer to the basis of the reproduction of life, emphasizing the use, that is, enjoyment of time, space and body, therefore of other temporalities and spatialities, swallowed up by the capitalist production of space. Thus, the objective of this paper is to analyze the fragmentation of the Dom Expedito neighborhood, located in the city of Sobral, into territories and the relationship between them. To this end, it used bibliographic research, interviews, statistical data production and mapping as methodological procedures. It concludes that fragments emerge due to a political economy of the city that unevenly inserts spaces into a circuit of valorization and spatial productivity, hence juxtaposition, separation and segregation. GOVERNMENT policy - Abstract
The city is a historical and social product and it is produced by the action of concrete subjects with particular interests, most of the times related to the production and reproduction of the capital. In this logic the city of Londrina is inserted, since its urban expansion, since its genesis until the recent decades, is highlighted by the action of land owners and the real estate market in the production of the urban space, highlighting the construction of housing developments as a vector for the expansion of the urban perimeter. The aim of this study was to analyze the guidelines and the dynamics of the urban planning of the urban territory of Londrina as the construction of the housing complexes is carried out through the Brazilian housing policy. For this purpose, it was used surveys in theoretical and documental secondary sources. It is concluded that the transformation of the city into an enterprise to produce houses, with the real estate valuation and speculation, has legitimated the idea of the city produced to earn income from the urban land which promotes a segregationist territorial planning. HOUSING discrimination , *MIND maps , *SOCIAL space , *SEMI-structured interviews , *ACQUISITION of data , *PUBLIC spaces - Abstract
Studies of residential segregation in Latin America have been approached mainly from socioeconomic criteria, but in recent years, this phenomenon has gained relevance from its subjective dimension. The objective of this article is to analyze the effect of the new expression of socio-spatial segregation in the city imagined and lived by its residents, having Ibagué, Tolima, Colombia as case study. To achieve this, the theoretical analysis was made from the sense of place and socio-spatial segregation, and the methodology was developed from the qualitative approach. Semi-structured interviews were conducted, and the method of data collection was applied using mind maps. The most relevant evidence shows that the practices of the actors, understood as territoriality, are related to the relative position that they occupy according to the socioeconomic stratification, i.e., the interviewed groups, through the space they inhabit, use the imagination to portray the socio-spatial segregation they live in the city, which generates a social space. - Abstract
This article collects psychoanalytic contributions regarding the phenomenon of racism, its place in the constitution of Western, Brazilian society and in the constitution of the subject. The aim is to examine the analyses of black people far beyond the mere statement that being black and fighting against racism would lead to the formation of a group and would make the emergence of subject's singularity unfeasible. Therefore, we have sought the scarce psychoanalytical contributions on the subject in order to approach the issue of racism. We have studied the concept of race and racism in other fields of knowledge in order to understand the mechanism of racism as a social, historical and political construct. We have approached the concepts of hatred and expulsion in psychoanalysis and realized that such mechanisms are involved both not only in the foundation of a type of social bond but also in the foundation of the subject. Finally, we have rescued the contributions made from the field of psychoanalysis by Lélia Gonzalez regarding the role of racism in the constitution of black subjectivity and in Brazilian society and culture. SPECIAL education , *PEOPLE with disabilities , *STUDENTS with disabilities , *LEGAL documents , *GOVERNMENT policy , *ATTITUDES toward disabilities - Abstract
This article analyzed the relationship between the long history of segregation to which people with disabilities were subjected during their schooling processes in Brazil and the Special Education scenario, based on a case study in Ouro Preto/MG. In this analysis, we verified legal documents and public policies, in addition to enrollment data obtained from the Basic Education Census, between 2007 and 2020, which made it possible to perceive that APAE's performance in serving students with disabilities remains hegemonic, despite the transformations paradigms that occurred in Brazil and the increasing number of enrollments in other education networks. According to IBGE data from 2010 (revised in 2018), 6.7% of the population has some type of disability. There are about 14 million Brazilians, an expressive number, however, on a daily basis, it is not difficult to find discourses and attitudes that reinforce the exclusion of people with disabilities, reaffirming capableist attitudes. We use conditional instrumental variables quantile regression to estimate the effect of occupational segregation by sex in the average working wage for Argentina between 2016-2020, using the Encuesta Permanente de Hogares (EPH) database. The results show that a 10 percent points rise in women’s share in a specific occupation decreases the overall average working wage for that occupation by 0.50 %. Additionally, we see that the magnitude of the impact varies depending on the percentile of the conditional wage distribution, where we see higher effects in the low quantile percentile [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Prejudice of socio-spacial nature is characterized by the attribution of violence and criminality to the poor peripheric neighborhoods and their inhabitants, what demands control, separation and distancing over them, on the residential and city scale. This research is based on interviews, secondary data survey, mapping, bibliographical review and in loco visit. It discusses the origin and materialization of socio-spacial prejudice related to urban insecurity in the city of Araguaína-TO. It was observed that the socio-spacial prejudice is immanent to the segregated way of appropriation of the city. This way, a violence attribution is addressed to the peripheric neighborhoods. From them it's kept a distance and an expanding control, but when encounters with their inhabitants are inevitable they take place with the use of violence. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

This paper presents the dynamics of a medium-sized city, Pelotas, located in the state of Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil. It aims to problematize the analysis of migratory flows, which impact the morphology of the city, resulting from state interventions with private initiative. To highlight this reality, data from the research linked to the City Conflict Observatory of the Graduate Program in Social Policy and Human Rights of the Catholic University of Pelotas will be presented. The contributions of the authors Henri Lefebvre, David Harvey and Raquel Rolnik determined the critical perspective of this study. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

SOCIAL integration , *SEGREGATION - Abstract
This article explores how spatial proximity influences the construction of social bonds between households of different socioeconomic conditions in Quito. It focuses on a specific area of the northwest of the city, where recently an intergroup alliance was created among its residents to oppose a public mobility project. From a multidimensional reading of socio-spatial integration, the effects of the social mixture of this area are analyzed in: the creation of educational and labor opportunities, the interaction and construction of social relations, and the identification with a common territory. The findings reveal that the proximity of households has a positive impact on the formation of social bonds, the perception of the other and on the affiliation with the territory, this particularly from intergroup political responses where the shared space is privileged instead of the socioeconomic difference. In this way, the article invites to incorporate the political link to consider social integration in the Latin American city. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Related with the urban segregation processes, several studies have discussed the benefits or losses that affect different social groups as a result of their location in space. In this discussion, this article presents a study about these phenomena in Salvador, first capital and currently the third largest Brazilian city on data from the 2000 and 2010 demographic censuses and other official sources. Showing how differentiated appropriation of the urban territory interferes on access to goods and services and on life opportunities, these analyses highlight the relevance of mentioned phenomena for the production and reproduction of social inequalities and vulnerability. URBAN growth , *URBAN violence , *EXPONENTIAL functions , *PROGRESS , *PUBLIC investments , *SOCIAL stigma - Abstract
In this present article, the sin was brought into perspective. For this purpose, our attention is focused on Santa Cruz neighborhood, located in the West Zone of Rio de Janeiro city, which receives insufficient investments from the Government, scores a low Social Progress Index, suffers from the exponential growth of the urban violence, also is a victim of voracity and irresponsibility by the large companies placed on the local area, besides has its population target by stigma and prejudice. At this first and brief moment, the Aristotelian Philosophy and Christ ethics will be appealed – where the sin shows up itself as a fundamental category – and Literature (throug the work of Dante Alighieri) – we demonstrate throughout this article, wich phenomenon/relations that mark the contemporary show themselves as a new guise of the classic capital sins. As mentioned, referring to Santa Cruz, each of them, supposed social dimension of sins is made explicit. Superb, greed, envy, anger, lust, gluttony and sloth are all thematized here, leading us to conclude that these exposed sins are far away to leading their sinners to “hell”. In certain way, from its towers, bubbles or castles, they keep looking skewed or at some distance to the Santa Cruz neighborhood, contributing to maintain it invisible in the city context. Researching about the history of the desegregation in higher education in the United States, I came across the struggling of an African American, James Howard Meredith, for admission as a student at the University of Mississippi - USA in 1962. This fact triggered the inquisitiveness on how topics related to segregation in the field of education, but not just racial related issues, are being addressed nowadays. Therefore, information found in published studies were observed looking for evidence of current (or not so current) facts, and the direction that contemporary education has been taking. CRITICAL care medicine , *NOSOCOMIAL infections , *ISOLATION (Hospital care) - Abstract
The frequency of infections in the intensive care unit is related to the cleanliness, physical structure, and mainly with the quality of assistance provided to the client. The colonized and the infected are the main sources that make the dissemination of microorganisms, having as responsible those who perform these practices. Infections related to health care are those in which they are acquired by clients during the treatment process in a given environment that provides health services. Hospital infection is the main cause of morbidity and mortality of the client in the intensive care unit, resulting in longer permanence and higher expenditures with the use of personal and collective protective equipment. - Abstract
The Che Guevara assumes his political commitment in times of displacement of any ideal. John Berger has pointed out how that naked existence allows thinking about his properly historical nature without submitting oneself to the laws of history. Lacan has mentioned the difficulty in restraining enjoyment in times without any ideal, in which the generalized child substitutes symbolic trust for segregation. In this context of ideals'nakedness, the school proposes itself only as capable of literacy education just as the Che is a representative, according to Ricardo Piglia's words. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

- Abstract
This research analyzed changes in the socio-spatial relationships of the beneficiaries of the social program 'Minha casa, Minha vida', reflecting the segregating pattern of housing programs in feminine dynamics. The methodology consisted of bibliographical research and interviews with 30 women residents of the Vista Bela complex in Londrina, between 06/06/2017 and 06/06/2017. The results showed the changing trends in the family structures and in feminine roles. Moreover, some problems of segregation and female dynamics were observed, opening possibilities of analysis of these elements in different circumstances, showing the relevance of the discussions regarding the sexual division of labor and other issues of gender in spatiality. - Abstract
The article examines two perspectives through which are addressed the relationship between psychoanalysis and science in Lacan. They do not imply an opposition. The first focuses on the logical connection whereby the emergence of psychoanalysis depends on the resulting science operation, whereas the second interrogates, from the analytic discourse, the effects of the presence of science in the world. In the first perspective, it is stressed that the relationship between psychoanalysis and science has reference to the impossibility that science leads. In the second perspective, we emphasize the indication of the expansion of the segregation process as a consequence of universalization introduced by science. The confluence of these two perspectives requires the examination, in Lacan's teaching, of the analysis on the copulation between science and capitalism. In this analysis it is clear, on one hand, that the affinity capitalism meet with science may be reported to the universalization associated with its expansion, and, on the other hand, that capitalism is a discourse rejecting rift that would be the basis of discourses, particularly as regards the limit that science, as conceived from the analytic discourse, engender. This work shows that contrary to the wishes of public policy, the real-estate market, through segregation rent, makes the socioeconomic mix increasingly difficult. Using a hedonic price model, based on the socioeconomic stratum and the most relevant urban variables, evidenced in the urban price models that configure the city's land prices, the authors introduce the segregation rents, within the housing market, that some urban agents decide to pay to obtain the highest benefits (better locations, better neighbors, better real estate products). It was found, that there is a significant relationship between the price of the square meter of land and the distance to the socioeconomic strata considered low (for Bogotá strata 1 and 2), showing that economic agents pay increasingly higher prices, for locations that are far from low strata.

- Abstract
The isolation of a pure subject is the foundation of the scientific knowledge, according to Lacan (1967/unpublished). From this pure subject is veiled the structure that contains the relation to the object a and the implication of this, that Lacan preaches to a universalization of the subject, has resonances on the speaking being, also, on the social order. The price of civilizational advances translates, to beyond malaise, in the effects of segregation. These effects allow to question the status assumed by the object a in this process, which has as counterpart the expansion of segregation processes linked to the future of common markets. In the veiling of the division of the subject, we will try to locate an encounter forged through the object produced by the technicization of science, under the injunction of the Discourse of Capitalism. Since then, we will advance to maintain that the matrix for such a processcould be established historically in the concentration camps. This path allows us to question the implication of object a in the notion of segregation effect. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

This article is based on three different experiences of work in the city, in which we find ourselves imposing questions regarding both violence and segregation. The clinic developed with a street population shows us both the disarrangement of these subjects with their own forms of enjoyment, which often slip in the problematic of violence, as well as the incoherence of the political responses of the State, which, in the name of the "guarantee of rights", often approaching segregation processes. We seek to elucidate the effects produced by the presence of the psychoanalysis orientation. What happens when a psychoanalyst takes his ethical position by clandestinely infiltrating, like a plague, into the gaps of urban discursive tissues? We intend to shed light on how we have been able to respond to the challenge of ethics that guides psychoanalysis to bear witness to the symptom of our time and how to make use of it in case by case and in the life of a city. In Spain, many experiences in slum clearance have been focused solely on eliminating the most visible aspects of the problem, creating social dissatisfaction. This article analyzes the extent to which new policies of relocation and dispersion recently applied in the slum areas of northwest Spain, foster favorable attitudes towards social inclusion of the displaced persons, who are mostly Roma. A questionnaire was applied in order to capture the perception of both those affected by relocations and those who receive the displaced persons in their neighborhoods. By quantitative, exploratory data analysis, we have detected a good social predisposition towards social inclusion of underprivileged people in the process of adaptation to live in houses with appropriate infrastructure, identifying those aspects needed to strengthen these kinds of interventions.

Abstract The article aims to identify the patterns of distribution of the multidimensional poverty in the main urban agglomerations of the Colombian city system, and to estimate the magnitude of residential segregation between poor and non-poor population at the same scale. Based on a conceptual reflection on poverty and segregation, a comparative study is proposed to establish how this phenomenon occurs in urban agglomerations of the Colombian city system. For this, multiple methods of spatial and statistical analysis are used, allowing the construction of indices at different scales that lead to the conclusion that segregation presents particularities in geographic patterns in each urban agglomeration. Abstract This article aims to show the complexity of the delimitation of urban fragmentation and establish the differences between concepts such as dual city, segregation, and social division of space, concepts with which it shares processes. Therefore, certain aspects encourage interpreting them as synonyms, which generates identification and delimitation problems between them. The methodology consisted of consulting bibliographic sources mainly on urban fragmentation and the concepts of dual city, urban segregation, and social division of space. We focused on Latin America as it is the region where postmodern economic and urban changes took place, which, in a certain way, favored the simultaneous development of various processes. This article's originality consists of bringing together the various intervening aspects in the delimitation of urban fragmentation and the concepts that lead to processes in the first line of analysis and, therefore, with which it is most similar; however, sometimes, they get confused. As a result, despite being highly studied, there are still theoretical-conceptual gaps regarding urban fragmentation due to not having a clear and precise delimitation. This leads to identification and delimitation problems with other urban phenomena, causing the concept to be described similarly to another or not to use all the key elements that describe each one.

The proper management of solid waste reflects a constant concern due to the current modes of consumption adopted by the whole society, including in the school environment. Due to the large amount of solid waste produced on the premises of the Escola Estadual de Ensino Fundamental Dona Luiza Vale Aranha, located in the south zone of Porto Alegre-RS, an environmental action with the purpose of sensitizing students regarding the generation of solid waste and their habits of food / consumption was developed. For this, the methodology is constituted by the bibliographic review and execution of the field research. The activities carried out with the students were planned and executed carried out through conversation, with the encouragement of active participation and knowledge building through the presentation of the problem and data collection and, finally, the application of a questionnaire. It was observed that the large amount of waste produced comes from food brought by students to the school, and therefore, mainly characterized by paper and plastic from the packaging. The initial diagnosis identified a large amount of discarded waste without any criteria of segregation in the dumps scattered in the school environment, with calculation of average per capita of generation determined at 0.0023 kg day-1 hab-1. It was observed that the majority of students are unaware of relevant issues about separation, reuse and the impacts that these materials can cause to the environment. However, there was a significant reflection on the part of students, interested in actively participating in new projects and committed to reinforcing in their homes the importance of proper waste separation. Abstract Environmental awareness in the school environment: relationship between the generation of solid waste and consumption habits The proper management of solid waste is a constant due to the current consumption methods adopted by most of society, including in the school environment. Demanding the large amount of solid waste on the premises of the Dona Luiza Vale Aranha State Elementary School, located in the southern zone of Porto Alegre-RS, is an environmental action with the purpose of sensitizing students in relation to the generation of solid waste and their habits food and consumption was developed. For this, the methodology consisted of a literature review and field research. The activities carried out with the students were planned and carried out in the form of conversation, encouraging active participation and knowledge construction through the presentation of the problem and data collection, and finally, a questionnaire application. It was possible to verify that the large amount of waste eliminated comes from food brought by students to school, predominantly characterized by paper and plastic from packaging. The initial diagnosis identifies a large amount of waste discarded without segregation criteria in the dumps around the school, with an average provided at 0.0051 lbs per person (not including toilet and kitchen waste). It was noticed that most students are unaware of relevant issues about separation, reuse and the impacts that these materials can cause to the environment. However, there was a reflection on the part of students, interested in actively participating in new projects and committed to reinforcing in their homes the importance of separating solid waste.
