- Abstract
Contrast-enhanced ultrasonography of superficial organs has long been considered unlikely because the main resonance frequency of these agents, which depends mainly on the size of microbubbles, is in the range of abdominal ultrasound applications. It has been suggested that microbubble contrast agents would not produce useful non-linear signals at the frequencies needed to provide the spatial resolution required for evaluation of superficial structures (Cosgrove 2004).
