Oligochitosan, a low molecular weight derivative of the cationic biopolymer, chitosan, currently shows a great potential of application as a biodegradable non-toxic stimuli-sensitive drug carrier. This paper aimed to elucidate the thermoresponsive potential of oligochitosan and the temperature-controlled drug binding and release to shed light on oligochitosan potential in stimuli-responsive drug delivery. Mechanisms of thermoresponsive behavior of oligochitosan induced by β-glycerophosphate (GP) were investigated using ITC, DSC, and DLS. Upon heating, the aqueous oligochitosan solution underwent a cooperative transition of the microphase separation type resulting in the formation of stable nano-sized particles. Energetics of the GP-oligochitosan interaction (evaluated by ITC) revealed a positive enthalpy of the GP binding to oligochitosan, which pointed to a notable contribution of dehydration and the related rearrangement of the polysaccharide hydration shell. Energetics of the thermal phase transition of oligochitosan was investigated by DSC upon variation of the solvent dielectric constant and GP concentration. The dependences of the transition parameters on these variables were determined and used for the analysis of the oligochitosan thermoresponsivity mechanism. The binding of ibuprofen to the thermotropic oligochitosan nanogel particles and its release from them were evaluated under near-physiological conditions. Corneal wound healing after a trauma or a chemical injury has been shown to correlate with antioxidant levels at the ocular surface. However, ocular bioavailability of efficient antioxidants (e.g. ferulic acid) after topical administration is limited by their poor solubility, low stability and short residence time. The aim of this work was to formulate ferulic acid in a nanocomposite platform composed of nanogels and micelles for efficient delivery to cornea. Solubility enhancement factor of ferulic acid was found to be equal to 1.9 ± 0.3 and 3.4 ± 0.3 for 50 and 100 mg/ml Pluronic® F68 micellar solutions. Hyaluronan was added to blank and ferulic acid loaded micelles, and then cross-linked with ε-polylysine. Hyaluronan nanogels showed dimensions of ~300 nm with positive zeta potential values. The formulations were characterized in terms of rheological behavior, biocompatibility, wound healing properties, ferulic acid release pattern and penetration into excised bovine corneas. In comparison to Pluronic® micelles that released ferulic acid rapidly, micelle-nanogel composites sustained the release up to 2 days. Chronic wounds are a prevailing cause of decreased quality of life, being microbial burden a factor hindering the normal wound healing process. Aerogels are nanostructured materials with large surface area (>250 m 2 /g) and high porosity (>96%). In this work, vancomycin-loaded chitosan aerogel beads were tested as a potential formulation to treat and prevent infections at the wound site. Processing of chitosan in the form of aerogels endowed this polysaccharide with enhanced water sorption capacity and air permeability. The morphological and textural properties of the particles were studied by image and N 2 adsorption-desorption analysis and scanning electron microscopy. Vancomycin content and release profiles from aerogel carriers showed a fast drug release that permitted to efficiently achieve local therapeutic levels. Cell studies with fibroblasts and antimicrobial tests against S. aureus showed that the vancomycin-loaded aerogel particles were cytocompatible and effective in preventing high bacterial loads at the wound site., (Copyright © 2018 Elsevier Ltd. This work aimed to design supramolecular gels combining Soluplus or Solutol and alfa- and hydroxypropyl-β-cyclodextrin (α-CD, HPβ-CD) for carvedilol (CAR) transdermal delivery. Poly(pseudo)rotaxane formation (appearance, SEM, 1 H NMR), drug solubilization, rheological properties and in vitro release were investigated. CAR-CD complexes were prepared in situ or by spray drying. For Solutol, poly(pseudo)rotaxanes were formed immediately after mixing with α-CD and did not influence CAR solubility. Differently, Soluplus poly(pseudo)rotaxanes took 24-48 h to be formed and CAR solubility decreased compared to Soluplus micelles. Soluplus 20% + α-CD (5-10%) showed higher G' and G'' but also faster CAR release than Solutol poly(pseudo)rotaxanes, which is explained by the different location of PEG chains in the two amphiphilic polymers. Faster drug release was achieved incorporating HPβ-CD or CAR-HPβ-CD spray-dried complexes. Chemokines are known to stimulate directed migration of cancer cells. Therefore, the strategy involving gradual chemokine release from polymeric vehicles for trapping cancer cells is of interest. In this work, the chemokine stromal cell-derived factor-1α (SDF-1α) was encapsulated into nanoparticles composed of poly-(lactic-co-glycolic acid) (PLGA) and a polyethylene glycol (PEG)-PLGA co-polymer to achieve sustained release. SDF-1α, and lysozyme as a model protein, were firstly precipitated to promote their stability upon encapsulation. A novel phase separation method utilising a non-toxic solvent in the form of isosorbide dimethyl ether was developed for the individual encapsulation of SDF-1α and lysozyme precipitates. Uniform nanoparticles of 200-250 nm in size with spherical morphologies were successfully synthesised under mild formulation conditions and conveniently freeze-dried in the presence of hydroxypropyl-β-cyclodextrin as a stabiliser. The effect of PLGA carboxylic acid terminal capping on protein encapsulation efficiency and release rate was also explored. Following optimisation, sustained release of SDF-1α was achieved over a period of 72 h. Importantly, the novel encapsulation process was found to induce negligible protein denaturation. The obtained SDF-1α nanocarriers may be subsequently incorporated within a hydrogel or other scaffolds to establish a chemokine concentration gradient for the trapping of glioblastoma cells., (Copyright © 2017 Elsevier B.V. Cyclosporine is an immunosuppressant agent approved for the treatment of dry eye disease and used off-label for other ocular pathologies. Its formulation and ocular bioavailability present a real challenge due to the large molecular weight (1.2 kDa), high lipophilicity, and low water solubility. The aim of the work was to develop an aqueous micellar formulation for an efficient cyclosporine delivery to the ocular tissues, using a water-soluble derivative of vitamin E (TPGS: d-α-tocopheryl polyethylene glycol 1000 succinate) and poloxamer 407 (Pluronic ®F127) as excipients. The mixed micelles were characterized in terms of particle size, zeta potential, rheology, and stability upon dilution and freeze-drying. Additionally, the enzymatic-triggered release of vitamin E and vitamin E succinate from TPGS was investigated in vitro in the presence of esterase. Compared to the commercially available ophthalmic formulation, the poloxamer 407:TPGS 1:1 molar ratio micellar formulation significantly improved cyclosporine solubility, which increased proportionally to surfactant concentration reaching 0.4% (w/v) for 20 mM surfactant total concentration. Cyclosporine-loaded mixed micelles efficiently retained the drug once diluted in simulated lachrymal fluid and, in the presence of a 20 mM surfactant concentration, were stable upon freeze-drying. The drug-loaded mixed micelles were applied ex vivo on porcine cornea and compared to Ikervis®. Drug accumulation in the cornea resulted proportional to drug concentration (6.4 ± 1.9, 17.6 ± 5.4, and 26.9 ± 7.4 μg drug /g cornea , after 3 h for 1, 2.5, and 4 mg/mL cyclosporine concentration respectively). The formulation containing cyclosporine 4 mg/mL (20 mM surfactant) was also evaluated on the sclera, with a view to targeting the posterior segment. The results demonstrated the capability of mixed micelles to diffuse into the sclera and sustain cyclosporine delivery (28 ± 7, 38 ± 10, 57 ± 9, 145 ± 27 μg/cm 2 cyclosporine accumulated after 3, 6, 24, and 48 h respectively). Reservoir effect experiments demonstrated that the drug accumulated in the sclera can be slowly released into the underlying tissues. Finally, all the formulations developed in this work successfully passed the HET-CAM assay for the evaluation of ocular irritability.

Electrospun mats containing cyclodextrin polymers (poly-αCD or poly-βCD) were developed to act as wound dressings showing tunable release rate of the antifungal agent fluconazole incorporated forming inclusion complexes. Poly-αCD and poly-βCD were prepared via cross-linking with epichlorohydrin (EPI) as water-soluble large molecular weight polymers. Then, polyCDs forming complexes with fluconazole were mixed with poly-(ε-caprolactone) (PCL) or poly(N-vinylpyrrolidone) (PVP) for electrospinning. Obtained bead-free fibers showed a random distribution, diameters in the 350-850nm range, and a variety of physical stability behaviors in aqueous environment. Mats were coated by hexamethyldisiloxane (HMDSO) plasma polymerization to create a hydrophobic layer that prevented rapid drug diffusion. HMDSO coating was evidenced by the Si content of mat surface (EDX analysis) and by the increase in the water contact angle (up to 130°). In physiological-mimicking medium, non-treated mats showed burst release of fluconazole, whereas HMDSO-coated mats sustained the release and delayed disintegration of PVP-based mats. Redox-responsive polymersomes were prepared by self-assembly of a hydrophobically modified keratin and employing a water addition/solvent evaporation method. Polyethylene glycol-40 stearate (PEG40ST) was chosen as hydrophobic block to be coupled to keratin via radical grafting. The amphiphilic polymer exhibited low critical aggregation concentration (CAC; 10 μg/mL), indicating a good thermodynamic stability. The polymeric vesicles loaded both hydrophilic methotrexate and hydrophobic curcumin with high entrapment efficiencies, and showed a GSH-dependent drug release rate. Confocal studies on HeLa cells revealed that the obtained polymersomes were efficiently internalized. Biocompatibility properties of the proposed delivery vehicle were assessed in HET-CAM test and Balb-3T3 mouse fibroblasts. Polymersomes loaded with either methotrexate or curcumin inhibited HeLa and CHO-K1 cancer cells proliferation. Overall, the proposed keratin polymersomes could be efficient nanocarriers for chemotherapeutic agents.

The aim of this work was to prepare polysaccharide-based nanoparticles (NPs) sensitive to glutathione (GSH), and to elucidate the effect of the concentration of glucose used as cryoprotectant during freeze-drying on the GSH-responsiveness. NPs were obtained via ionic interaction between negatively charged polysaccharides, chondroitin sulfate and dermatan sulfate, and the positively charged thiolated chitosan (CSSH), and crosslinking of CSSH before or after the nanoparticles formation with a disulfide-bond containing crosslinker, N,N'-bis(acryloyl)cystamine (BAC). NPs were freeze-dried with glucose at two different concentrations (0.5 and 5.0%w/w) and then characterized as methotrexate delivery systems, studying the effect of GSH concentration on drug release, efficacy against tumor cells and cellular internalization. Non-loaded NPs were highly compatible with murine fibroblasts and showed a suitable size for being used in anticancer therapy. When methotrexate-loaded NPs were freeze-dried with the highest glucose concentration, they lost their responsiveness to GSH concentration in vitro. Drug-loaded NPs were shown to inhibit the growth of tumor cells (HeLa and CHO-K1) with greater efficiency than free methotrexate, disregarding the concentration of glucose used for freeze-drying. Nevertheless, confocal microscopy studies revealed that cellular internalization of NPs freeze-dried with 5.0% glucose is more difficult than for NPs freeze-dried with lower glucose concentration. Supramolecular systems formed by the binding of several cyclodextrins (CDs) to polymers or lipids, either via non-covalent or covalent links, open a wide range of possibilities for the delivery of active substances. CDs can perform as multifunctionalizable cores to which very diverse (macro)molecules and drugs can be conjugated. Grafting with amphiphilic molecules can lead to nanoassemblies exhibiting a variety of architectures. CDs can also polymerize with other CDs or can be used to functionalize preexisting polymers to form polymers/networks with enhanced capability to form inclusion complexes. Alternatively, CDs can be exploited as transient cross-linkers to form poly(pseudo)rotaxane-based networks or zipper-like assemblies. Combination of mutifunctionality and complexation ability of CDs has been shown to be useful to develop depot-like formulations and colloidal nanocarriers with improved performances regarding easiness of administration, protection of the encapsulated substances, control of the delivery rate, and cell interactions. The aim of this review is to provide an overall view of the diversity of designs of CD-based supramolecular nanosystems with a special focus on the advances materialized in the last five years, including clinical trials.

5-Fluorouracil (5-FU)-loaded chitosan microgels for oral and topical chemotherapy were prepared applying a superhydrophobic surface-based encapsulation technology. Drug-loaded chitosan dispersions were cross-linked and then coated with drug-free chitosan or pectin layers at the solid-air interface in a highly efficient and environment-friendly way. The size of the microgels (with diameters of ca. 280 and 557 μm for the chitosan seeds and pectin-coated microgels respectively) was the lowest obtained until now using similar biomimetic methodologies. The microgels were characterized regarding 5-FU release profiles in vitro in aqueous media covering the pH range of the gastrointestinal tract, and cytotoxicity against two cancer cell lines sensitive to 5-FU. Owing to their control of 5-FU release in acidic medium, calcium pectinate-coated microgels can be considered as suitable for oral administration. Growth inhibition of cancer cells by 5-FU was greater when incorporated to chitosan microgels; these being potentially useful for treatment of skin and colorectal tumors., (Copyright © 2013 Elsevier Ltd. The aim of this work was to develop an innovative supercritical fluid (SCF)-assisted molecular imprinting method to endow commercial soft contact lenses (SCLs) with the ability to load specific drugs and to control their release. This approach seeks to overcome the limitation of the common loading of preformed SCLs by immersion in concentrated drug solutions (only valid for highly water soluble drugs) and of the molecular imprinting methods that require choice of the drug before polymerization and thus to create drug-tailored networks. In particular, we focused on improving the flurbiprofen load/release capacity of daily wear Hilafilcon B commercial SCLs by the use of sequential SCF flurbiprofen impregnation and extraction steps. Supercritical carbon dioxide (scCO2) impregnation assays were performed at 12.0 MPa and 40 °C, while scCO2 extractions were performed at 20.0 MPa and 40 °C. Conventional flurbiprofen sorption and drug removal experiments in aqueous solutions were carried out for comparison purposes. SCF-processed SCLs showed a recognition ability and a higher affinity for flurbiprofen in aqueous solution than for the structurally related ibuprofen and dexamethasone, which suggests the creation of molecularly imprinted cavities driven by both physical (swelling/plasticization) and chemical (carbonyl groups in the network with the C-F group in the drug) interactions. Processing with scCO2 did not alter some of the critical functional properties of SCLs (glass transition temperature, transmittance, oxygen permeability, contact angle), enabled the control of drug loaded/released amounts (by the application of several consecutive processing cycles) and permitted the preparation of hydrophobic drug-based therapeutic SCLs in much shorter process times than those using conventional aqueous-based molecular imprinting methods., (Copyright © 2010 Acta Materialia Inc. Poloxamines (X-shaped poly(ethylene oxide)-poly(propylene oxide) (PEO-PPO) diblocks connected to a central ethylenediamine group) were N-methylated and N-allylated with the aim of widening their versatility as drug nanocarriers. The self-aggregation properties of various derivatives, covering a wide range of molecular weights and EO/PO ratios, were thoroughly investigated. The cytocompatibility of different modified poloxamines was compared to that of the pristine counterparts by MTT and LDH assays. The most hydrophilic varieties were highly cytocompatible even at concentrations of 5%. Toward the optimization of the oral pharmacotherapy of the Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV) infection in pediatric patients, the encapsulation and in vitro delivery of efavirenz (EFV), a lipophilic first-line antiretroviral drug, were evaluated. Pristine and N-alkylated poloxamines behaved as highly efficient EFV solubilizers enhancing the aqueous solubility of the drug between 166 and 7426-times. EFV promotes self-micellization of poloxamines; their tiny structural modification (i.e., just one methyl- or allyl-group) being able to regulate drug/micellar core interaction. Despite the physical stability of the micelles against dilution in physiological mimicking fluids, the N-alkylated derivatives were slightly more prone to disassembly promoting EFV release from the micellar reservoir. For all the derivatives evaluated, the in vitro release fitted zero-order kinetics and was sustained for at least 24 h. Poloxamines (Tetronic) are X-shaped amphiphilic block copolymers formed by four arms of poly(ethylene oxide)-poly(propylene oxide) (PEO-PPO) blocks bonded to a central ethylenediamine moiety. Such a structure confers multi-responsive behaviour, namely temperature and pH-sensitiveness. At relatively low concentrations but above the critical micellar concentration (CMC), poloxamines generate polymeric micelles. Due to the presence of a hydrophobic core, these nanocarriers are useful in the solubilization and stabilization of poorly water-soluble drugs. Moreover, chemical modification of the micellar core is feasible. These remarkable and unique features, compared to the well-known linear poloxamers, have motivated an increasing interest in the study and application of the branched derivatives in different emerging disciplines. The present review concisely overviews the most important developments comprising the application of poloxamines in drug delivery, mainly as micellar carriers capable of enhancing drug solubility and stability, and also as surface modifiers in the technology of stealth polymeric nanoparticles. Their potential for the administration of drugs by different routes and the improvement of the drug bioavailability and therapeutic effect are discussed.

Polyethylene (PE) and polypropylene (PP) were surface functionalized with beta-cyclodextrin (beta-CD) and hydroxypropyl-beta-cyclodextrin (HP-beta-CD) with the aim of providing PE and PP with the capability of behaving as drug delivery systems. Functionalization was carried out according to a two-step procedure: (i) glycidyl methacrylate (GMA) was grafted by means of gamma radiation and (ii) the epoxy groups of GMA reacted with the hydroxyl groups of CDs forming ether bonds. For a fix radiation dose and GMA concentration, grafting yield (ranging from 1 to 100 micromol GMA cm(-2)) depended on the time during which the preirradiated PE and PP films and slabs were immersed in the GMA solution. CD grafting (from 0.013 to 0.734 micromol cm(-2)) was confirmed by infrared analysis, DSC and the organic compound approach (using 3-methylbenzoic acid as a probe). Functionalization with CDs rendered as highly cytocompatible materials as the starting ones, did not cause relevant changes in the water contact angle and the friction coefficient of PE and PP, but remarkably improved their capability to uptake diclofenac through formation of inclusion complexes with the CDs. Furthermore, the functionalized materials released the drug for 1 h, which could be useful for management of initial pain, inflammation at the insertion site as well as adhesion of certain microorganisms if these materials are used as medicated medical devices.

The aim of this work was to develop acrylic hydrogels with high proportions of cyclodextrins maintaining the mechanical properties and the biocompatibility of the starting hydrogels, but notably improving their ability to load drugs and to control their release rate. Poly(hydroxyethylmethacrylate) hydrogels were prepared by copolymerization with glycidyl methacrylate (GMA) at various proportions and then beta-cyclodextrin (betaCD) was grafted to the network by reaction with the glycidyl groups under mild conditions. This led to networks in which the betaCDs form no part of the structural chains but they are hanging on 2-3 ether bonds through the hydroxyl groups. The pendant betaCDs did not modify the light transmittance, glass transition temperature, swelling degree, viscoelasticity, oxygen permeability, or surface contact angle of the hydrogels, but decreased their friction coefficient by 50% and improved diclofenac loading by 1300% and enhanced drug affinity 15-fold. The hydrogels were able to prevent drug leakage to a common conservation liquid for soft contact lenses (SCLs) and to sustain drug delivery in lacrimal fluid for two weeks. To summarize, the hydrogels with pendant betaCDs are particularly useful for the development of cytocompatible medicated implants or biomedical devices, such as drug-loaded SCLs.

Advanced drug delivery systems try to adjust the site and/or the rate of the release to the physiological conditions of the patient, to the progression of the illness, or to the circadian rhythms. Being different from classical pre-programmed controlled release dosage forms, the new devices aim to provide the drug release profile best for the needs of each patient. Intelligent drug delivery systems are mostly based on stimuli-responsive polymers which sense a change in a specific variable and activate the delivery; this phenomenon being reversible. This review reports on recent advances in the development of open-loop and closed-loop control systems based on stimuli-responsive polymers and their application in the drug delivery field as pulsatile and self-regulated devices. The aim of this review is to describe the most recent advances in the development of intelligent micelles and hydrogels which are sensitive to pH, specific molecules (with a mention to the molecular imprinting), temperature, irradiation or electric field, and the applications of which these mechanisms are intended.

The potential of poly(ethylene oxide)-poly(propylene oxide) block copolymers Pluronic F127 (PF127) and Tetronic 304 (T304), 904 (T904) and 1307 (T1307) as components of solid self-(micro)emulsifying dosage forms, S(M)EDDS, was evaluated. The dependence of the self-associative properties of Tetronics on pH explained the low ability of the micelles to solubilize griseofulvin at acid pH (sevenfold increase) compared to at alkaline pH (12-fold). Blends of polyglycolyzed glycerides (Labrasol, Labrafac CC, and Labrafil M 1944CS) with each copolymer at two different weight ratios (80:20 and 60:40) were prepared, diluted in water, and characterized in terms of globule size, appearance and griseofulvin solubility. The blends with Labrasol led to microemulsions that are able to increase drug solubility up to 30-fold. SMEDD hard gelatine capsules filled with griseofulvin and Labrasol or Labrasol/copolymer 80:20 showed a remarkable increase in drug solubility and dissolution rate, particularly when T904, T1307 or PF127 was present in the blend. This effect was more remarkable when the volume of the dissolution medium was 200 ml (compared to 900 ml), which can be related to a higher stability of the microemulsion when there is a greater concentration of the copolymer and glyceride in the medium.

The aim of this work was to gain an insight into the self-associative processes and drug solubilization ability of a Tetronic variety, T904 (4 x 15 EO units; 4 x 17 PO units; HLB 15), in aqueous media covering the physiological range of pH and ionic strength, applying isoperibol microcalorimetry, transmission electronic microscopy (TEM), dynamic light scattering (DLS), oscillatory rheometry, and drug diffusion experiments. T904 shows two pK(a) (pK(a1)=4.0 and pK(a2)=7.9) and, at pH<5.8, the diprotonated form predominates over the non-protonated one. Deprotonization of the central diamine group is a required condition for micellization, which is an endothermic entropy-driven process owing to hydrophobic interactions between the PPO chains. As the pH of the solutions decreases, the coulombic repulsions among the positively charged amine groups make the aggregation more difficult, raising the critical micellar concentration (CMC) and decreasing the size of the micelles. The changes in the conformation and hydrophilicity of the Tetronic were reflected in its gelation temperature (around 30 degrees C at neutral-alkaline pH; no gelation at pH<2) and solubilization capacity for griseofulvin (2-fold greater at neutral-alkaline pH than at pH<2) and rate of diffusion (slower at pH 7.4). Such alterations in self-assembly are relevant when using Tetronic in the design of drug delivery systems.

The usefulness of poly(N-isopropyl acrylamide), PNIPA, for preparing sustained release matrix or photopolymerization-coated cellulosic pellets was evaluated. Theophylline pellets and granules were prepared using powdered cellulose (PC), poly(vinylpyrrolidone) (PVP), and PNIPA of Mw approximately 330 kDa, Mn approximately 93 kDa and low critical solubility temperature approximately 32 degrees C. The low consistency of wet mass, evaluated by torsion rheometry, due to hydrophilic character of PNIPA at room temperature, favored extrusion-spheronization. Theophylline (20%) pellets prepared with 15% PNIPA, 20% PVP and 45% PC, and granules obtained using 40% PNIPA and 40% PC showed an enhanced, although limited, ability to sustain the release. This effect was notably promoted after compression (which provides slowly eroding tablets) or coating of individualized pellets. A new coating technique consisting in forming the polymer film by photo-polymerization/cross-linking of NIPA monomers on pellets surface, using a photoinitiator and UV-irradiation at 366 nm, was developed. The composition of coating mixture and the time of irradiation were optimized using oscillatory rheometry. Coating did not significantly change the shape, size, or friability of the pellets but remarkably decreased the porosity and sustained drug release for several hours. Soft contact lenses are receiving an increasing attention not only for correcting mild ametropia but also as drug delivery devices. To provide poly(hydroxyethyl methacrylate), PHEMA, lenses with the ability to load norfloxacin (NRF) and to control its release, functional monomers were carefully chosen and then spatially ordered applying the molecular imprinting technology. Isothermal titration calorimetry (ITC) studies revealed that maximum binding interaction between NRF and acrylic acid (AA) occurs at a 1:1, and that the process saturates at 1:4 molar ratio. Hydrogels were synthesized using different NRF:AA molar ratios (1:2 to 1:16), at two fix AA total concentrations (100 and 200 mM), and using moulds of different thicknesses (0.4 and 0.9 mm). The cross-linker molar concentration was 1.6 times that of AA. Control (non-imprinted) hydrogels were prepared similarly but with the omission of NRF. All hydrogels showed a similar degree of swelling (55%) and, once hydrated, presented adequate optical and viscoelastic properties. After immersion in 0.025, 0.050 and 0.10 mM drug solutions, imprinted hydrogels loaded greater amounts of NRF than the non-imprinted ones. Imprinted hydrogels synthesized using NRF:AA 1:3 and 1:4 molar ratios showed the greatest ability to control the release process, sustaining it for more than 24 h. These results prove that ITC is a useful tool for the optimization of the structure of the imprinted cavities in order to obtain efficient therapeutic soft contact lenses.
