Software module clustering approaches can provide a better understanding of large and complex software systems through decomposing the enterprise resources into classified modules which are smaller, and therefore easier-to-handle. As the dimensions and complexity of enterprise software projects are continuously increasing, handling a large software project is going to be more challenging. The challenge would be more complex if the experienced personnel is considered as well. Therefore, appropriate automatic software modularization clustering methods are required in resource management. This paper provides a Systematic Literature Review (SLR) on the software modularization clustering models. We studied a wide range of papers from 2001 to 2020 to provide our SLR. Also, a technical taxonomy is presented to classify the existing papers on software modularization clustering models and algorithms. The software module clustering methods are categorized into three main classes. Finally, new challenges and forthcoming issues of software modularization clustering models are presented. A commentary on the article "The India Way: Lessons for the U.S." by Peter Cappelli, Harbir Singh, Jitendra Singh, and Michael Useem, published elsewhere in the same issue, is presented. The topic is a comparison of the prevailing corporate cultures and business models in the U.S. and India. The argument that Indian firms tend to take a more socially engaged approach, while U.S. companies typically focus narrowly on shareholder value, is discussed. The question of whether U.S. businesses would do well to adopt some of the best practices of successful Indian firms is addressed, and it is said that Indian ideals of corporate governance could well have a salutary effect on U.S. business philosophy.

Building on administrative data and machine-learning models, I develop a firm-specific measure of regulatory intensity: cost of compliance with all federal paperwork regulations. Regulatory intensity increases the cost of goods sold and overhead spending (SGA). It also incentivizes companies to reduce capital investment, hire fewer employees, and lobby more. The effects are particularly strong among financially constrained firms and those with irreversible investment opportunities, suggesting that regulation affects companies through budgetary pressures and heightened uncertainty. The findings highlight the real effects of regulation and the underlying mechanisms. Authors have furnished an Internet Appendix , which is available on the Oxford University Press Web site next to the link to the final published paper online. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Many studies confirm the impact of financial development on the macro economy, but systematic studies of the impact of financial development on corporate exports is still lacking. Based on the quasi-natural experiment established by city commercial banks, this paper uses micro-data of Chinese industrial enterprises from 1998 to 2013 and adopts a double difference method to test the impact of the development of local financial institutions on corporate exports. The results show that the establishment of city commercial banks has significantly increased the export participation rate and total export volume of manufacturing enterprises in the city where they are located; comparatively speaking, its impact on the export expansion margin of industrial enterprises exceeds the intensive margin. At the same time, the study also found that the above-mentioned influences exist in both long-term and short-term, and in enterprises of different sizes and attributes. These findings provide new evidence for understanding the relationship between local financial development and corporate exports. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Public disclosure programs that collect and disseminate information about firms' environmental performance are increasingly popular in both developed and developing countries. Yet little is known about whether they actually improve environmental performance, particularly in the latter setting. We use detailed plant-level survey data to evaluate the impact of India's Green Rating Project (GRP) on the environmental performance of the country's largest pulp and paper plants. We find that the GRP drove significant reductions in pollution loadings among dirty plants but not among cleaner ones. This result comports with statistical and anecdotal evaluations of similar disclosure programs. We also find that plants located in wealthier communities were more responsive to GRP ratings, as were single-plant firms. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Within the context of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR), this secondary data‐based research paper examined the role of China's mining companies' adherence to CSR within the context of its engagement with Zambia. The central question grappled within this paper is whether there is a practise of CSR as a corporate ethic strategy to further social good which must be interpreted even beyond the firm or companies' interests, all required by the internal laws of Zambia. The central objective is to analyse CSR which ought to be applied to enhance high ethical standards, reduction of legal risks, and positive public relations. As such, this paper argues that there is a deficit literature and/knowledge existing which outlines the role of Chinese mining corporates' CSR in the Zambian mining industry. Implying that there are limited policy blueprints or scholarly documents, outlining how Chinese mining companies are expected to conduct themselves. The only scholarly relevant available knowledge at our disposal in respect to the subject under scrutiny exists in Euro‐American Multimedia video‐sharing engines such as Youtube and Twitter. These knowledge systems are North [ern] angled, contributing to an imbalanced body of knowledge, that triggered the adoption of Afrocentricity as the alternative theoretical telescope. The article focuses on the move for an environmental sustainability by the printing industry in the U.S. The move had encountered several challenges along the way to its implementation due to workflow technology issues of business establishments. According to the author, many printing companies have received the certification of Forestry Stewardship Council (FSC), an internationally known chain of custody verification on the used of fiber from the managed forest. It had also become the qualification criterion for suppliers of paper and printing to major corporations such as Wal-Mart, Goldman Sachs and Bank of America.

CENTRAL banking industry ,FISCAL policy ,PRIVATE banks ,SECURITY sector ,PRIVATE sector ,BUSINESS enterprises - Abstract
Purpose: The authors aim to look at the conditions under which central bank easing – and specifically the purchase of private sector securities – can/should contribute to growth, rather than fiscal policy and also ask when can the central bank's purchase of private sector securities help supplant traditional monetary policy. Design/methodology/approach: After surveying the existing literature, the authors use simple correlation of central bank private asset (stocks, bonds, etc.), interest rates, gross domestic product (GDP) growth, inflation and the extent of the functioning of domestic banking sectors (among others) to classify countries in which these purchases promote pro-growth investment. Findings: Under the typical conditions for unconventional monetary policy, central bank purchases of private companies' securities can promote growth in some places (like Bulgaria, the Ukraine, Georgia and Greece at the time of our writing) while hurting it in others (like in parts of Latin America and Africa in the mid-2010s). The authors find how such purchases effectively "bypass" dysfunctional banking systems and central/government local bodies fiscal spending, making the central bank the "funder of last resort" in many middle and lower income countries. Practical implications: This paper tells specific central banks to ramp up – or reduce – their purchases of private sector securities. The authors identify exact jurisdictions where such "helicopter money" has led to investment in the past economic growth. Originality/value: All previous work on conventional and unconventional monetary policy has looked at the way monetary policy affects investment and growth through the banking system and holding companies' reactions constant. The authors do the opposite – looking at how companies respond, holding banking system responses constant. No one has ever looked at these private purchases (taken from a special IMF database), much less tried to argue that central banks can sometimes target investment growth much better than fiscal policy. No one has ever considered them as a funder (rather than lender) of last resort. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Debt restructuring is an effective means to solve the financial difficulties of enterprises. At present, the operation methods and means of enterprises with different characteristics to participate in debt restructuring are different, and no universal debt restructuring scheme has been formed. In order to solve this problem, this paper uses the method of fuzzy set qualitative comparative analysis. This paper discusses the influence mechanism of multiple concurrent factors on enterprise debt restructuring and summarizes the selection rules of debt restructuring strategies for enterprises with different characteristics of debt. The research shows that there are five kinds of allocation for enterprises to realize debt restructuring. According to the different core conditions, enterprise debt restructuring can be divided into high-quality operation and management mode, technology leading mode, and debt-to-equity mode. The research results reveal the mechanism behind enterprise debt restructuring and provide a reference basis for the government and creditors to make corresponding decisions in the debt restructuring process. This paper investigates whether and how firms receiving benefits through their connections to politicians use accounting discretion to mitigate the costs associated with negative publicity. I utilize a unique setting that captures the change in political costs arising from chairmanship appointments to influential U.S. Senate committees. Firms in the home state of a promoted officeholder often receive preferential treatment, drawing public scrutiny and incentivizing them to avoid reporting extreme earnings through income smoothing to reduce adverse political attention. Employing a difference-in-differences research design, I find evidence that home-state firms smooth their earnings throughout the officeholder's tenure following a senator's promotion to chairman or ranking minority member. Cross-sectional analyses demonstrate that these effects are stronger for firms anticipating higher political costs. Overall, this paper provides evidence of the political cost hypothesis, highlighting the role of political connections in shaping firms' financial reporting strategies. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

This paper aims to identify, evaluate, and analyze determinants of the profitability of food enterprises from the Republic of Serbia. The paper determines the nature of the relationship between defined determinants and profitability by applying a panel regression model on a sample of 189 small, medium, and large food enterprises from Serbia in the period from 2011 to 2021. The analysis results showed that the profitability of food enterprises is positively influenced by liquidity and sales growth rate. On the other hand, the indebtedness, size, and materiality of assets have a negative impact on the profitability of food enterprises. Of all analyzed variables, only liquidity does not affect profitability at a statistically significant level. The results of the analysis should be added to the fact that smaller food enterprises, with a lower degree of indebtedness and a smaller share of fixed in total assets, achieve a higher degree of profitability. This paper theoretically analyzes and empirically examines the impact and mechanisms of automated machines on employment in manufacturing enterprises, drawing on task-based model and using micro data from listed Chinese manufacturing enterprises between 2012 and 2019. Our findings reveal that: (1) Automated machines in manufacturing enterprises leads to a substitution effect on the total labor force, with a substitution effect on low-skilled labor and a creation effect on high-skilled labor in terms of employment structure. (2) Further analysis indicates that automated machines primarily have a positive effect on R&D and technical staff, a non-significant effect on sales staff, and a negative impact on production, administrative, and financial staff. (3) The primary influencing mechanisms of automated machines on employment in manufacturing firms are productivity effects and output scale effects, based on the mediation effect model. (4) Considering the industry linkage effect, we employ the input-output method and the Input-Output Table and find that automated machines for upstream (downstream) manufacturing enterprises will result in a substitution effect on employment for downstream (upstream) enterprises. The novelties and research contributions are as follows: (1) we conduct a structural decomposition of total employment, and further decompose employment positions into production, R&D, sales, finance, and administration. (2) We try to investigate the industry linkage effect about the impact of automated machines on the employment of upstream and downstream enterprises. (3) We use data from listed manufacturing companies, and the data of existing research are about provincial and industry-level data. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Wasta is a concept that is widespread across the Middle East, and practiced as a common and acceptable culture in most Middle East based business organizations. While the wasta practice is common and is followed as part of the usual organizational culture in the Middle East, yet, its implications are not all positive for the overall employee and organizational performance, which will be highlighted in the current paper in detail. It encourages interpersonal connections and networking of individuals to be used in order to obtain jobs, based on personnel connection rather than merit, which has huge negative impacts on the business. This paper, therefore, presents a detailed discussion on wasta and its implications considering business organizations across the Middle East. The tourism sector will be the area of the focus for the present work. The impacts of such activities on the tourism sector are significant on recruitment, teamwork, training, reward system, and overall HRM practices, which raise questions on whether this concept should indeed be as common in practice as it is currently. This paper studied the phenomena of wasta in the Middle East in details and proposed framework for Wasta-free Management. Also, recommendation for practice for tourism sector in the middle East along with suggestions for further research are presented. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The article focuses on effects of mandated versus voluntary auditing policy on the quality of auditing. The paper addresses the question whether the mandatory auditing policy set forth by the Securities Acts of 1933 and 1934 increased the quality of information on which investors in the securities market rely. The choice of the quality level in auditing is seen as the first step taken by the auditing firms. Quality is assumed to be fixed for the period and firms choose its level by perfectly anticipating what they can get in terms of higher price or fee in the competitive second stage. The main consideration this study makes is in is consideration of quality decision that affects the competitive position of the firm. The study predicts the economic consequences of the Securities Act. The effects of regulation on the quality of auditing are spelled out. One of the assumption is that a given auditor must charge all his clients the same fee. This means that the audit firms can discriminate on fees.

The financing resources play an important role in the economic function of a country, therefore studies related to the financing resources and their impact on enterprises is very popular. This paper elaborates which factors influence the decision of capital structure, when we know the enterprises during their development face numerous and large financing challenges. For more successful coping, they need greater support both at the local and central level, in order to create a more suitable environment for their development. In reviewing the literature, the term capital structure was often mentioned by analysts, investors, and many other enterprise officials. Numerous researchers have noted various factors affecting the capital structure of enterprises. By this research we will try to clarify which factors influence the decision of the capital structure. This study describes the Modigliani and Miller theorem about capital structure and the review of some authors about determinants of capital structure including dependent, independent and control variables. Purpose: This paper proposes a context-based framework for measuring and disclosing human capital in the financial statements of the Zimbabwean mining companies. The study was prompted by the lack of universal standardised framework that can be adopted by companies for use and existing of varied models with conflicting measurement metrics. The developed model is meant to bring harmony within the industry and across other sectors, particularly in developing countries such as Zimbabwe. Methodology: This paper adopted an integrative literature review approach also known as the critical review approach in the development of the human capital measurement and disclosure framework. Corporate annual reports, existing related literature, and various human capital models were critically and systematically reviewed to conceptualise different views from various authors concerning human capital measurement and disclosure framework. A thematic analysis approach was adopted to analyse the qualitative findings. The analysis was conducted until a point of saturation was reached. Findings: The paper proposed a context-based human capital measurement and disclosure framework with six key primary factors. Furthermore, the paper proposed the measurement criteria and the disclosure requirements of the six primary factors established. The framework also acts as a starting point for human capital reporting since there is a lack of an established and generally accepted reporting framework in Zimbabwe. The benefit of this framework is that it is flexible, and it allows companies to develop human capital reporting guidelines based on key features specific to an individual company's human capital and can be applied to other similar contexts in the SADC region. This paper recommends the adoption of the human capital measurement and disclosure framework as to increase companies' value, financial performance as well as economic growth at large. Originality/Value: The proposed framework is envisaged to reduce information asymmetry and improve corporate governance practices for both practice and policy formulation. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Solving the risk of zombification of enterprises and relieving their business difficulties, as a key element of supply-side structural reform, is the pain point of the conversion of old and new dynamic energy and the difficulty of economic transformation and upgrading. In the Internet era, the impact on business operations is also expanding with the widening of investor attention channels. This paper selects Chinese listed companies from 2011-2020 as a research sample, and the empirical results show that, first, investor attention can effectively reduce the risk of transforming enterprises into zombie enterprises, i.e., the risk of corporate zombification decreases as the level of investor attention increases; second, there is heterogeneity in the role of investor attention in resolving the risk of corporate zombification; third, further mechanism tests find that along with Third, further mechanistic tests reveal that as the level of investor attention increases, the level of environmental uncertainty decreases and the annual market value of individual stocks increases, thereby reducing the risk of corporate zombification. The findings of this paper provide theoretical support and empirical evidence for further improving the risk mitigation of corporate zombification, promoting the “de-emphasis” of enterprises, and leading the high-quality and healthy development of enterprises. Green technology innovation (GTI) is an important driver for national green development and a strong fulcrum for the clean production of companies. This paper focuses on the impact of top management team's (TMT's) inherent characteristics on GTI from the perspectives of TMT heterogeneity and text tone in management discussion and analysis (MD&A), as well as the moderating role of executive compensation incentives and financial constraints. The results reveal that: a) the TMT heterogeneity has different effects on companies' GTI; b) the tone in MD&A can significantly promote the companies' GTI; c) both executive compensation incentives and financial constraints significantly adjust the relationship between the TMT heterogeneity or the tone in MD&A on GTI but in different directions. Moreover, the basic conclusions suitable for non-state-owned companies yet differ in state-owned companies considering the property heterogeneity. Thus, this paper constructs a new integrated framework of TMT heterogeneity, tone in MD&A, executive compensation incentives and financial constraints to stimulate the enthusiasm and initiative of companies to develop GTI, which has an important practical significance on accelerating the sustainable development of green production in developing countries. Finally, this paper offers corresponding policy recommendations. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

This research paper puts emphasis on using cloud computing with Blockchain (BC) to improve the security and privacy in a cloud. The security of data is not guaranteed as there is always a risk of leakage of users' data. Blockchain can be used in a multi-tenant cloud environment (MTCE) to improve the security of data, as it is a decentralized approach. Data is saved in unaltered form. Also, Blockchain is not owned by a single organization. The encryption process can be done using a Homomorphic encryption (HE) algorithm along with hashing technique, hereby allowing computations on encrypted data without the need for decryption. This research paper is composed of four objectives: Analysis of cloud security using Blockchain technology; Exceptional scenario of Blockchain architecture in an enterprise-level MTCE; Implementation of cipher-text policy attribute-based encryption (CPABE) algorithm; Implementation of Merkle tree using Ethereum (MTuE) in a Multi-tenant system. Out of these four objectives, the main focus is on the implementation of CP-ABE algorithm. CP-ABE parameters are proposed for different levels of tenants. The levels include inner tenant, outer tenant, Inner-Outer-Tenant, Inner-Outer-External-Tenant, Outer-Inner-Tenant, External-Outer-Inner-Tenant and the parameters such as token, private key, public key, access tree, message, attribute set, node-level, cipher-text, salting which will help in providing better security using CP-ABE algorithm in a multitenant environment (MTE) where tenants can be provided with different levels of security and achieved 92 percentage of authenticity and access-control of the data. Under the conduction of decentralized environmental governance, environmental punishment has become a pivotal complementary tool for local government environment management and an intuitive reflection of governance efficiency. However, the literature concerning the effect of local government environmental punishment towards the green technology innovation of enterprises is void. To bridge this gap, this paper adopts the fixed‐effect model to investigate the impact of government environmental punishment on green technology innovation based on the data of China's A‐share listed enterprises from 2010 to 2020. The study finds that the punishment can significantly promote enterprises' green technology innovation. The distinction between the type of innovation reveals that environmental punishment promotes substantive green technology innovation of enterprises, while the effect on strategic green technology innovation is not significant. As far as the influence path is concerned, external pressure and internal incentive are both important mechanisms for environmental punishment to facilitate the green technology innovation of enterprises. Heterogeneity analysis demonstrates that the positive effect of punishment on green technology innovation is more prominent in non‐state‐owned enterprises, heavily polluting industries and regions with strong public awareness of environmental protection. Further discussion reveals that the facilitative effect of punishment on green technology innovation also significantly improves the environmental performance of enterprises. This paper not only confirms the positive role of government intervention in environmental protection, but also provides practical reference for how to improve enterprises' competitiveness. Currently, the prevalence of various Internet intrusion technologies has brought much challenge to the enterprise management. For many core documents, the information leakage may lead to the loss of secrets of enterprises. Therefore, some core official documents in enterprises are in the format of papers, rather than electronic format. As a consequence, it is of significance to develop automatic information processing techniques for official documents in the format of papers, so as to improve the working efficiency of enterprises. In this paper, a novel business scheduling approach for enterprises via vision sensing-based automatic documental information extraction is proposed. For the first stage, the vision sensing-based optical character recognition (OCR) technique is utilized to extract textual information from official documents in the format of papers. For the second stage, the deep neural network is utilized to output business scheduling results on the basis of digital recognition contents from the first stage. Finally, the experimental simulation is also carried out to verify efficiency of the proposal. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

This paper aims to examine the impact of executive compensation incentive on corporate innovation capability by dividing executive compensation incentive into short-term monetary incentive and long-term equity incentive. We also investigate the interaction between the two types of executive compensation incentive. Data are collected from China's agro-based companies during 2012–2019, and multiple regression analysis is utilized. The empirical results show that short-term monetary incentive has no impact on innovation capability, while long-term equity incentive stimulates innovation capability. Regarding company ownership, the impact of long-term equity incentive in state-owned enterprises is greater than that in private-owned enterprises. In addition, the complementary effect between short-term and long-term compensation incentive has a positive impact on innovation capability regardless of company ownership. The findings of this paper could help agribusiness managers to design the reasonable incentive system to incentivize corporate executives and enhance the capability of independent innovation. The 2008 sub-prime mortgage crisis in the United States brought many financial institutions to the brink of bankruptcy. Securities firms were not immune to such issues, given their prominence in the financial market. Consequently, evaluating the performance of securities companies' post-recession is important when determining how to confront market-shaking macroeconomic problems. Consequently, this paper employs a non-radial model of data envelopment analysis (DEA) to measure the performance of revival on Taiwan's securities industry. The research findings suggest that Tachan Securities (TCS) outperformed its peers in the operational period immediately after the global financial crisis, while Capital Securities (CAPITAL) is the best performer in the profit-making period. This paper applies the Boston Consulting Group (BCG) Matrix to analyze strategic positioning and trajectory on the basis of the efficiency value of the two-stage of non-radial DEA model. In order to validate any variances between the efficiencies of different stages after the global financial crisis, this paper conducts non-parametric statistical analysis to examine the variances in the efficiency values of the single-stage and the two-stage model. Finally, the purpose is to understand the impact of the post-crisis environmental variables on the efficiency of the securities industry. The empirical findings can serve as a reference for industry management on the assessment of operating performances and profitability by the characteristic of radial efficiency. Decision-makers in the industry may also refer to the findings as a benchmarking tool for the evaluation of business performance after the global financial crisis. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Purpose: This paper explores quality science and quality management as a potential pathway to resolve the challenges of corporate sustainability reporting (CSR) by establishing the need for a common understanding of sustainability and sustainable development. Design/methodology/approach: Secondary research on key documents released by regulatory institutions working at the intersection of sustainability, corporate reporting, measurement and academic papers on quality science and management. Findings: Existing measurement frameworks of CSR are limited. They are neither aligned nor appropriate for accurately measuring a company's ecological footprint for mitigating climate change. Quality for sustainability (Q4S) could be a conceptual framework to bring about an appropriate level of measurability to better align sustainability reporting to stakeholder needs. Research limitations/implications: There is a lack of primary data. The research is based on secondary literature review. The implications of Q4S as a framework could inform research studies connected to sustainable tourism, energy transition and sustainable buildings. Practical implications: The paper connects to CSR stakeholders, sustainability managers, company leaderships and boards. Social implications: The implications of sustainability on people, purpose and prosperity are a part of World Economic Forum's stakeholder capitalism. Originality/value: This paper fills a research gap on diagnosing and understanding the key reporting challenges emerging from the lack sustainability definitions. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The Environmental Protection Tax Law that took effect in 2018 gave local authorities a certain amount of discretionary power to set the local rates for environmental protection tax. The inter-provincial gradient tax rates pattern may induce strategic relocation of enterprises, leading to unintended policy results. Combined with the data on trans-regional investment of listed companies, this paper employs the Difference-in-Difference (DID) approach to study the impact of inter-provincially different environmental tax rates on the trans-regional migration of polluting enterprises. The study shows that due to the regional differences in the tax rates, the polluting enterprises opt for the relocation strategy of "avoiding high tax rates and opting for low rates", setting up more subsidiaries in regions with relatively low tax rates. Further research demonstrates that the trans-regional migration induced by different tax rates can help reduce production costs and increase corporate profits, while dampening the corporate enthusiasm for green innovation in the short term and resulting in pollution transfer. This paper reveals the unintended policy effects that may derive from the environmental tax reform, providing concrete proof for the comprehensive evaluation and understanding of the actual policy effects of existing environmental tax reform. In theory, previous studies believed that the export market of enterprises was homogeneous. There is no difference in each export market, which is obviously inconsistent with the actual trade situation. This paper divides the export market of enterprises into main export market and secondary export market according to the export status, explores the export changes of enterprises to the main export market and secondary export market respectively when the temporary trade barriers of the main export market to the trade exporting country are raised. This paper focuses on the impact of the main export market on the anti-dumping degree, countervailing level and the improvement of trade safeguard measures on the export conversion of enterprises between the main and secondary markets. The research shows that the increase of the anti-dumping degree of the main market against the trade exporting countries will lead to the higher probability of role exchange between the main and secondary markets; The countervailing level of the main market against the trade exporting countries rises, and the export of enterprises is more likely to turn to the secondary market; The greater the trade safeguard measures in the main market, the more likely the secondary market will become the main market. A study of 10 years of Edelman prize-winning papers (1977-1986) has yielded a wealth of information regarding applied contemporary managerial theory. We have distilled the core theory of seven authors who write about management principles and applied it in depth to the 40 papers that contain enough data about the client companies to lend themselves to the analysis. The first-prize winners are clearly superior, and all the finalists tend to exhibit these principles to a greater degree than would be expected by chance. The study provides fodder for future study of applied entrepreneurial activity and lends credulity to the Edelman award process as it has been conducted in the past. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The development of the Internet has changed many traditional commercial models of enterprises. Therefore, the term Internet development is increasingly drawing attention from scholars. However, we are not certain whether the development of the Internet improves the problem of difficult financing of enterprises and enhances enterprise financing efficiency. This paper analyzes whether Internet development can promote enterprise financing efficiency. First, the Data Envelopment Analysis- Slack Based Measure (DEA-SBM) model is applied to measure the enterprise financing efficiency values of 31 provinces in China. The measurement results indicate that the enterprise financing efficiency in the eastern regions is higher than that of central and western regions. Then, this paper further tests if Internet development can contribute to enterprise financing efficiency based on an econometric model. The analysis results indicate that Internet development has an obvious promoting effect on enterprise financing efficiency. Later, spatial econometric models are adopted in this paper to further analyze if Internet development has a spatial overflow effect on enterprise financing efficiency. The results indicate that Internet development indeed has a spatial overflow effect on enterprise financing efficiency. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

For many companies, suppliers play an important role in innovation processes. One key issue concerns the degree of cooperation, such as an arm's length approach versus the use of relationships. Another issue concerns the scope of company involvement on the supply side, such as involvement of one supplier versus involvement of a network of companies. This article presents a taxonomy of supplier involvement in innovation processes. The empirical data consists of a case study of Norske Skog Skogn, a paper mill that is part of the world's second largest producer of newsprint, and one of its suppliers, ABB, a global engineering company. The article directs attention towards a variety of approaches to organising supplier involvement in innovation processes. The taxonomy may be useful in initiatives to increase awareness of the organisation of innovation processes and improve innovation process performance. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Based on measuring the green transformation of heavily polluting enterprises based on the sub-dimensions of green strategy and green action, we empirically analyze whether and how bank digitization affects the green transformation of enterprises by using the data of China's A-share heavily polluting enterprises from 2010 to 2021. The findings show that 1) bank digitization has a significant positive effect on firms' green transformation; 2) bank digitization promotes firms' green transformation by alleviating firms' financing constraints and improving firms' ESG performance; 3) governmental environmental regulations and media attention positively moderates the relationship between bank digitization and firms' green transformation; and 4) bank digitization is more likely to promote the green transformation of firms that are highly digitized, non-state-owned firms, and enterprises in the eastern region; 5) the sub-dimension test shows that bank digitization has significant differences on different dimensions of green transformation. The above analysis shows that bank digitization should be deeply integrated with the green transformation of enterprises, and the former should be deeply embedded in supervising, forcing and empowering enterprises to upgrade environmental protection technology and sewage treatment, and the regulator should formulate a more detailed environmental protection disclosure program to realize the consistency "words" and "deeds" of the green transformation of enterprises. The collaborative R&D of new products between enterprises is prone to the "free‐rider effect" due to knowledge spillover. To avoid that, this paper establishes a three‐stage dynamic game to explore the collaborative R&D co‐competition behavior between asymmetric horizontal supplier enterprises. In this paper, we incorporate the uncertainty of R&D success probability into the model and reverse induction is applied to solve it. In the model, two asymmetric enterprises play dynamic games under three modes: complete noncooperation, semicooperation, and complete cooperation. We discuss the sensitivity of various asymmetric factors to the R&D investment level and profit of enterprises. The results indicate that the R&D investment level of supplier enterprises is positively correlated with the absorptive capacity, technology spillover, and R&D success probability, and negatively correlated with the initial R&D investment and innovation efficiency under the three co‐competition modes. Especially, when the absorptive capacity of the enterprise or the degree of technological spillover of the other party exceeds a certain value, the profits of the enterprise in the mode of complete noncooperation and semicooperation will intersect, which can easily lead to "free‐riding" behavior. It provides a decision‐making basis for the direction and extent of enterprises' R&D efforts. In addition, some methods are proposed to improve the level of R&D investment and increase the income of enterprises under three modes. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Amidst growing environmental challenges linked to coal dependence, fostering green innovation in new energy enterprises is vital for sustainable development in China. Although there have been studies on green innovation of new energy enterprises in recent years, few studies have been conducted from the perspective of ESG, whether informal environmental regulation represented by ESG can stimulate the green innovation of new energy enterprises is of great significance to China's construction of a low-carbon and secure energy system. In this paper, from the perspective of informal environmental regulation, based on the ESG ratings of SynTaoGreen Finance's first public newenergy listed companies as an exogenous shock, and taking A-share new energy listed companies as a sample from 2010 to 2021, we empirically verified the effect and mechanism of ESG ratings on the green innovation of new energy companies in terms of the quantity and quality of green innovations by utilizing the Staggered Difference-indifference (DID) model. The findings demonstrate that new energy enterprises' green patent numbers and quality are greatly enhanced by ESG grading. However, there is clear heterogeneity in this green innovation effect, which is particularly visible in new energy firms with state-owned enterprise and greater enterprise scales and a higher level of digitization. The Mechanistic findings suggest that ESG ratings drive green innovation by alleviating financial constraints, reducing agency risk, and boosting R&D, thus providing empirical evidence for the development of a green innovation ecosystem in the new energy industry. FINANCIAL ratios ,BUSINESS enterprises ,FUZZY clustering technique - Abstract
The main aim of this paper is to show that the methodology of classifying firms of the same sector according to the similarity of their classical financial ratios results in serious problems of incoherence and, consequently, it is necessary to find a viable alternative. With this objective in mind, simple examples are used to show that the appearance of multiple unsolvable problems make it impossible to accept the validity of grouping firms according to homogeneous groups based on these ratios using the usual clustering techniques. Once this fundamental fact has been verified, the proposal of classifying firms based on the ratios created in compositional data methodology and fuzzy clustering is shown to offer a viable alternative for this purpose. The paper ends with a complete analysis using real data. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
