Skolan som institution ämnar att främja alla former av lärande, detta är ett av skolans främsta uppdrag. Ett förbud av mobiltelefonen komplicerar detta uppdrag då även mobilen utgör en källa till informellt lärande hos högstadieelever. Syftet med uppsatsen var att synliggöra och identifiera högstadieelevers informella lärandeprocesser, detta då en kunskapslucka kring informellt lärande i denna årsgrupp har identifierats. Följande frågor besvaras genom uppsatsen: Vad utlöser och hur ser högstadieelevers informella lärandeprocesser ut, i vilka konstellationer och i vilka former sker informella lärandeprocesser hos högstadieelever och vad karaktäriserar digitala verktygs, i synnerhet mobiltelefonens, påverkan på högstadieelevers informella lärandeprocesser? Genom en kvalitativ ansats har semistrukturerade intervjuer utförts på två olika grundskolor, en i tätort och en i landsbygd, där 10 elever har intervjuats kring deras vanor i och utanför skolan i förhållande till användandet av digitala verktyg och vardagligt lärande. Resultatet av studien visar att mobiltelefonens roll i skolan och under lektionstid är tämligen komplicerad samt att ett förbud mot den inte är helt problemfritt. Mobiltelefonen möjliggör en stor del av högstadieelevernas informella lärande och därmed kan ett förbud ses som paradoxalt då skolans uppdrag motsäger detta. Informellt lärande och kommunikation är två begrepp som sällan separeras, gruppdiskussioner uppges vara särskilt givande och stimulerande för högstadieelevernas informella lärandeprocesser. Därtill hör även samarbete och hjälp kring skoluppgifter utanför diskussionstillfällen.

År 2007 släpptes världens första smartphone. Bara 16 år senare har näst intill varenda människa i Sverige en mobiltelefon i deras ficka. Sakta men säkert har mobiltelefonen blivit en del av vår vardag som ett av våra mest basala behov. Den digitala utvecklingen har gått så pass fort att vi ännu inte känner till vilka risker och möjligheter mobiltelefonen utgör för människan och vårt samhälle. Den tidigare forskningen visar på en balansgång mellan mobiltelefonens kommunikativa möjligheter och kritiska risker för vår mänskliga sammanhållning. Den mobila kommunikationen tar oss digitalt närmare varandra men samtidigt känslomässigt längre ifrån varandra. På senare år har det växt en oro över sociala mediers inflytande hos Sveriges befolkning. Studiens syfte vill därför ge allmänheten en förståelse för hur unga vuxna upplever mobiltelefonens kommunikativa möjligheter och sociala mediers negativa inflytande i det digitala samhället. Med hjälp av sju kvalitativa intervjuer bidrar studien med en insikt i hur intervjupersonerna upplever och resonerar kring mobiltelefonens kommunikativa möjligheter och sociala mediers negativa inflytande. Genom att applicera sociologen Erving Goffmans dramaturgiska teori och begrepp; framträdande, frontstage, backstage och intrycksstyrning i relation till intervjupersonernas upplevelser, får studien en djupare förståelse för hur mobiltelefonen påverkar deltagarna i deras vardagliga liv. Goffmans begrepp frontstage förstärker deras upplevelser om att det råder olika normer, förväntningar och förhållningssätt i ett framträdande på mobiltelefonens sociala plattformar. Backstage utgör en plats där intervjupersonerna ständigt kan planera, förbereda och påverka hur det sociala och digitala framträdandet ska se ut. Med hjälp av intrycksstyrning så får deltagarnas upplevelser av sociala mediers negativa inflytande en bakomliggande förklaring. Mobile phones have become a natural part in our lives and with them, challenges and concerns rise. Mobile phones are designed to catch our attention, which equals unwanted distractions in many situations. Previous research is ambiguous as to in what situations mobile phones harm our attention and cause distraction. Therefore, the aim of this experiment was to examine whether the mere presence of a mobile phone or a mobile phone receiving a notification harms our attention while performing the Stroop Task Test. The experiment involved 19 participants, comprising 4 males and 15 females of various ages (M=38,84). A within-subject design experiment was used and the participants that took part in the experiment were exposed to three different conditions as they completed four rounds of the Stroop Task Test. The first and last condition was without a mobile phone, the second condition had a silent mobile phone laying in their field of vision, and in the third condition that same mobile phone received a text message notification. In order to examine the degree of distraction, this study looked at eye gaze towards the mobile phone, in addition to the response times during the test. Contrary to previous research the results of this study showed no significant difference in the participants' performance on the Stroop Task Test and eye gaze during the mobile phone conditions. Datorer och mobiltelefonerna är idag allestädes närvarande i skolan och elever, lärare eller skolledning funderar sällan på hur detta påverkar lärandet. Den större delen av den tidigare forskningen visar att med ökad mobiltelefonanvändning kommer försämrade skolresultat. Kemididaktiken innebär ofta att hjärnans spatiala och mer visuella förmågor behövs i kemin och där är den handskrivna anteckningen bättre än anteckningen på tangentbord. Syftet med detta examensarbete var att undersöka om frånvaro av dator och mobiltelefon, kan förbättra elevers lärande i kemi, mätt i deras förmåga att prestera på kemiprov. Dessa elevers resultat på kemiproven jämfördes med en kontrollgrupp som hade med sig datorer och mobiltelefonen i klassrummet. Jag valde positivismen kvantitativa ansats tillsammans med Karl Poppers kritiska rationalismen till den vetenskapsteori ur vilket perspektiv jag analyserade undersökningens resultat. Metoden som användes var kvantitativ analys där de två olika gruppernas provresultat på 4 olika kemiprov jämfördes statistiskt med ett Students t-test. Resultat: Students t-test visade att där inte fanns någon skillnad mellan grupperna; t(120) = 1,98, p = 0,19. En subgruppsanalys gjordes på gruppen med svagare elever, alltså elever som före undersökningen presterat sämre i kemi och Students t-test visade att inte heller här fanns någon skillnad mellan grupperna; t(56) = 2,00, p = 0,11. Medelpoängen för hela gruppen med datorer och mobiltelefoner blev 12,4 poäng och de utan 14,4 poäng. Medelpoängen för subgruppen med de svaga eleverna, blev för gruppen med datorer och mobiltelefoner 7,2 poäng och gruppen utan 9,8 poäng. Slutsatsen blev att mobiltelefonen är en för gymnasieeleven essentiell del av livet och mobiltelefonen bär eleven alltid med sig, ibland även om man vill hjälpa sin kemilärare att ta examen och bli en legitimerad lärare genom att deltaga i hans undersökning.

Ett kvalitativt och kvantitativt online-test genomfördes där undersökningsmaterialet bestod av förinspelade ljudfiler som deltagarna fick bedöma på intervall skala och kommentera om deras like inför ljudfilernas kvalitet. Ljudfilerna bestod av förinspelad dialog vilket två av dialogerna var inspelade med Samsung mobiler som drivmedel åt inspelningsförstärkaren, Scarlett 2i2 gen 2+Samsung A51 och iRig Pre HD+Galaxy S10. medan de resterande dialog ljuden var inspelade med portabla fältinspelare tilldelade ifrån högskolan dalarna, Zoom H4n Prooch Zoom F8N. Resultatet visade sig att Scarlett+Samsung A51 var jämförbar i kvalitet motsvarande de andra inspelningsenheterna. Marginalerna var dock minimala och många informanter påstod sig inte kunna höra några skillnader, vilket visade sig att lyssningsmiljön och tidigare erfarenheter av lyssningstest hade en påverkan hos informanter.

Recent advances in web survey methodology were motivated by the observation that respondents increasingly use mobile devices, such as smartphones and tablets, to participate in web surveys. Even though we do not doubt this general observation, we argue that the claim is lacking a solid empirical basis. Most research on increasing mobile device use in web surveys covers limited periods of time and/or analyzes data from only one study or panel. There is a surprising lack of comprehensive overviews on the magnitude of mobile device use in web surveys. In the present study, we explored this research gap by analyzing data from 128 web surveys collected in four different academic studies in Germany between 2012 and 2020. Overall, we found strong empirical evidence for an increase in smartphone use, a stagnation in tablet use, and a decrease in desktop PC use. There was no evidence that the increase in smartphone use will slow down any time soon. Thus, we recommend that survey researchers prepare for a device change in web surveys that may enable new applications in web surveys.

Filter questions are used to administer follow-up questions to eligible respondents while allowing respondents who are not eligible to skip those questions. Filter questions can be asked in either the interleafed or the grouped formats. In the interleafed format, the follow-ups are asked immediately after the filter question; in the grouped format, follow-ups are asked after the filter question block. Underreporting can occur in the interleafed format due to respondents’ desire to reduce the burden of the survey. This phenomenon is called motivated misreporting. Because smartphone surveys are more burdensome than web surveys completed on a computer or laptop, due to the smaller screen size, longer page loading times, and more distraction, we expect that motivated misreporting is more pronounced on smartphones. Furthermore, we expect that misreporting occurs not only in the filter questions themselves but also extends to data quality in the follow-up questions. We randomly assigned 3,517 respondents of a German online access panel to either the PC or the smartphone. Our results show that while both PC and smartphone respondents trigger fewer filter questions in the interleafed format than the grouped format, we did not find differences between PC and smartphone respondents regarding the number of triggered filter questions. However, smartphone respondents provide lower data quality in the follow-up questions, especially in the grouped format. We conclude with recommendations for web survey designers who intend to incorporate smartphone respondents in their surveys.

This study investigates students' experiences of mobile phone usage at Malmö University. The purpose of this study is to investigate how students use their mobile phones and if the usage has an effect on their education. The study is conducted through qualitative unstructured interviews with five students at Malmö University and interpreted through a phenomenological perspective. Some similarities are shown in the results, however, the vast majority is overall varying. Similarities that have been concluded are that students mostly use the same applications while being physically present at the University and the majority of the applications that are used are social media based. Facebook Messenger is heavily valued by all participants to communicate with others. There are differing results as to when the usage is most frequent and if the Mobile Phone acts as a distraction or a tool for the student. All participants stated that the Mobile Phone has a tendency to distract. Varying results are explained by the individuals’ level of discipline. Individuals with higher discipline are not as affected by the Mobile Phone as individuals with a lower level of discipline. The reason behind a high usage of the Mobile Phone is explained by Mobile Phone Depandance and a conflict of interest by prioritizing personal goals over academic goals., Studien undersöker studenters upplevelser av mobiltelefonanvändning vid Malmö universitet. Syftet med studien är att undersöka hur studenter använder sina mobiltelefoner och hur de upplever att det påverkar dem i utbildningen. Studien har ett fenomenologiskt perspektiv och utförs genom kvalitativa ostrukturerade intervjuer med fem studenter på Malmö Universitet. Både likheter och mönster kunde urskiljas. En likhet innefattar att studenterna använder liknande applikationer vid universitetet. Majoritenen av applikationerna som används är sociala medie-applikationer. Facebook messenger används i stor utsträckning av samtliga studenter för att kommunicera med andra studenter, vänner och familj. Skillnader i resultaten omfattar till vilken grad mobiltelefonen distraherar studenten respektive fungerar som ett verktyg. Utifrån samtliga studenters upplevelser är mobiltelefonen ett distraktionsmoment. Studien visar att variationer i resultaten beror på disciplinnivå hos studenterna. Individer med högre disciplin påverkas inte i samma grad av mobiltelefonen som individer med lägre disciplinnivå. Anledningen till omfattande mobiltelefonanvändning förklaras av mobiltelefonberoende samt en intressekonflikt i form av att studenterna prioriterar personliga mål framför akademiska mål.

I den här kvantitativa studien undersöks skillnaden i effektivitet och användarupplevelse mellan mobiltelefoner och datorer. Frågan är om effektiviteten och/eller användarens upplevelse kommer att påverkas om besökaren använder en mobiltelefon eller en dator för att utföra uppgifter på en e-handelswebbplats. I jakt på svar granskas tidigare forskning och teorier kring ämnena användbarhet, användarupplevelse och effektivitet. En jämförande forskningsdesign används där två olika webbshoppar studeras. För att undersöka effektivitet, studeras tid och använda klick, som behövs för att användaren ska kunna utföra sina uppgifter. Effektiviteten mäts genom strukturerade observationer. För att studera skillnaden i användarupplevelse genomförs strukturerade intervjuer. T-tester och värmekartor analyseras för att dra följande slutsatser. Effektiviteten påverkas inte av valet av enhetstyp men resultaten visar också att användarupplevelsen påverkas av valet av enhet., In this quantitative study the difference in efficiency and user experience between mobile phones and computers are examined. The question is whether efficiency and/or the user's experience will be affected if the visitor uses a mobile phone or a computer to complete tasks on an e-commerce website. In search of answers, previous research and theories on the topics of usability, user experience and efficiency are reviewed. Acomparative research design is used where two different webshops are studied. To examine efficiency, time spent and clicks used, needed for the user to achieve their tasks is measured in structured observations. To study the difference in user experience, structured interviews are conducted. T-tests and heatmaps are analyzed to draw the following conclusions. Efficiency is not affected by the choice of device type but results also show that the user experience is affected by the choice of device.

Augmented reality has in recent years become a topic that’s frequently discussed among business managers and marketing practitioners, due to the findings that support the technology's ability to influence consumer behavior. The technology is offering consumers exceedingly product information, a pleasurable shopping experience and a greater interactive interface. Previous research surrounding augmented reality has been with in the bounds of the makeup and furniture industry to enable these findings. Now the interest stands within how augmented reality technology can be implemented in the clothing retail industry. The purposeof this study is to map out the consumer's experience of trying out virtual clothes through mobile augmented reality and find out if the technology can facilitate consumers to completea purchase decision online during a buying process of physical clothes. The study conducted participatory observations as well as semi structed interviews with the participants,further more the empirical findings were analyzed through a thematic analyzing method. What the study discovered was that certain aspects of the technology supports previous research done on augmented reality and other aspects deviated from earlier findings. Additionally, the study found that consumers would consider clothing testing through mobile augmented reality if it was implemented by a clothing retail company., Augmented reality har under de senaste åren blivit ett återkommande ämne bland företagsledare och marknadsförare på grund av att tidigare forskning påvisat att teknologin kan ha inflytande på konsumentbeteenden. Teknologin erbjuder konsumenter tilläggande information om produkten, en njutbar shoppingupplevelse och en interaktiv samverkan mellan individ och objekt. Tidigare forskning som behandlat augmented reality har begränsats till områdena smink- och möbelindustrin för att komma fram till dessa resultat. Det finns nu ett intresse att se hur augmented reality teknologin kan bli implementerad i klädesindustrin. Studiens syfte är att kartlägga konsumenters upplevelse av att prova virtuella kläder genom mobile augmented reality och finna svar på om det kan underlätta för konsumenten att slutföra ett köpbeslut online vid en köpprocess av fysiska kläder. Undersökningen genomförde deltagande observationer och individuella semistrukturerade intervjuer med deltagarna, vidare analyserades empirin genomen en tematisk analysmetod. Undersökengen kom fram till att vissa aspekter av teknologin stödjer tidigare forskningsresultat och andra visades vara särskiljande. Vidare fann denna forskning att konsumenter kan tänka sig använda mobile augmented reality om det implementerats av ett detaljhandelsföretag inom klädindustrin.

Over the past two decades, Africa has become increasingly connected as more and more Africans gained access to the internet and mobile phones. Building on this enhanced connectivity, a new wave of African startups has emerged, tackling some of the continent's biggest challenges with "homemade" digital technologies. There are growing signs that these new technologies could provide a leapfrogging opportunity for Africa. Africa has seen massive improvements in internet access and mobile phone adoption, due to investments in the continent's digital infrastructure, particularly mobile broadband networks. At the same time, there are significant connectivity gaps between Africa and the rest of the world as well as between and within African countries. These may widen as Africa's digital infrastructure faces capacity pressures from a rapidly expanding internet user base. Tech giants, primarily from the United States, have recognised a business opportunity in Africa's existing connectivity gaps and have begun investing heavily in subsea data cables, data centres, and technology hubs. It is critical that these investments bridge Africa's connectivity gaps - a growing body of evidence shows the wide-ranging positive socio-economic impacts of improved internet and mobile phone access. Africa's enhanced connectivity has led to the emergence of a new wave of growth-oriented technology startups, building innovative and "homemade" digital technologies for widespread use. Digital platforms in particular are increasingly disrupting Africa's major, mostly informal service, retail, and agricultural sectors. Anecdotal reports suggest that digital technologies from African startups can be transformative for individuals, businesses, and farms, but there is very little systematic empirical evidence on their local impacts. The ever-growing number of respondents completing web surveys via smartphones is paving the way for leveraging technological advances to improve respondents’ survey experience and, in turn, the quality of their answers. Smartphone surveys enable researchers to incorporate audio and voice features into web surveys, that is, having questions read aloud to respondents using pre-recorded audio files and collecting voice answers via the smartphone’s microphone. Moving from written to audio and voice communication channels might be associated with several benefits, such as humanizing the communication process between researchers and respondents. However, little is known about respondents’ willingness to undergo this change in communication channels. Replicating and extending earlier research, we examine the extent to which respondents are willing to use audio and voice channels in web surveys, the reasons for their (non)willingness, and respondent characteristics associated with (non)willingness. The results of a web survey conducted in a nonprobability online panel in Germany (N = 2146) reveal that more than 50% of respondents would be willing to have the questions read aloud (audio channel) and about 40% would also be willing to give answers via voice input (voice channel). While respondents mostly name a general openness to new technologies for their willingness, they mostly name preference for written communication for their nonwillingness. Finally, audio and voice channels in smartphone surveys appeal primarily to frequent and competent smartphone users as well as younger and tech-savvy respondents.

This study investigates students' experiences of mobile phone usage at Malmö University. The purpose of this study is to investigate how students use their mobile phones and if the usage has an effect on their education. The study is conducted through qualitative unstructured interviews with five students at Malmö University and interpreted through a phenomenological perspective. Some similarities are shown in the results, however, the vast majority is overall varying. Similarities that have been concluded are that students mostly use the same applications while being physically present at the University and the majority of the applications that are used are social media based. Facebook Messenger is heavily valued by all participants to communicate with others. There are differing results as to when the usage is most frequent and if the Mobile Phone acts as a distraction or a tool for the student. All participants stated that the Mobile Phone has a tendency to distract. Varying results are explained by the individuals’ level of discipline. Individuals with higher discipline are not as affected by the Mobile Phone as individuals with a lower level of discipline. The reason behind a high usage of the Mobile Phone is explained by Mobile Phone Depandance and a conflict of interest by prioritizing personal goals over academic goals., Studien undersöker studenters upplevelser av mobiltelefonanvändning vid Malmö universitet. Syftet med studien är att undersöka hur studenter använder sina mobiltelefoner och hur de upplever att det påverkar dem i utbildningen. Studien har ett fenomenologiskt perspektiv och utförs genom kvalitativa ostrukturerade intervjuer med fem studenter på Malmö Universitet. Både likheter och mönster kunde urskiljas. En likhet innefattar att studenterna använder liknande applikationer vid universitetet. Majoritenen av applikationerna som används är sociala medie-applikationer. Individer med högre disciplin påverkas inte i samma grad av mobiltelefonen som individer med lägre disciplinnivå. Anledningen till omfattande mobiltelefonanvändning förklaras av mobiltelefonberoende samt en intressekonflikt i form av att studenterna prioriterar personliga mål framför akademiska mål.

The country is facing multiple healthcare-related challenges, including a high prevalence of infectious diseases and a low density of physicians. Improved accessibility to mobile phones opens up the possibility of using mobile health applications to improve health outcomes for people in the country. A literature review, interviews, and questionnaires are conducted to better understand the country, its healthcare system, and its people. Based on the collected data, requirements are developed for a mobile health application that provides healthcare information to patients. The requirements are evaluated based on user testing and the framework tool Dynamics of Social Practice. The perceived usefulness and material prerequisites suggest that the application could get a foothold in Linga Linga and similar rural areas, provided that it’s accompanied by training and redesigned to facilitate ease of use. För att undersöka effektivitet, studeras tid och använda klick, som behövs för att användaren ska kunna utföra sina uppgifter. Effektiviteten mäts genom strukturerade observationer. För att studera skillnaden i användarupplevelse genomförs strukturerade intervjuer. T-tester och värmekartor analyseras för att dra följande slutsatser. Effektiviteten påverkas inte av valet av enhetstyp men resultaten visar också att användarupplevelsen påverkas av valet av enhet., In this quantitative study the difference in efficiency and user experience between mobile phones and computers are examined. The question is whether efficiency and/or the user's experience will be affected if the visitor uses a mobile phone or a computer to complete tasks on an e-commerce website. In search of answers, previous research and theories on the topics of usability, user experience and efficiency are reviewed. Acomparative research design is used where two different webshops are studied. To examine efficiency, time spent and clicks used, needed for the user to achieve their tasks is measured in structured observations. To study the difference in user experience, structured interviews are conducted. T-tests and heatmaps are analyzed to draw the following conclusions. Efficiency is not affected by the choice of device type but results also show that the user experience is affected by the choice of device.

Augmented reality has in recent years become a topic that’s frequently discussed among business managers and marketing practitioners, due to the findings that support the technology's ability to influence consumer behavior. The technology is offering consumers exceedingly product information, a pleasurable shopping experience and a greater interactive interface. Previous research surrounding augmented reality has been with in the bounds of the makeup and furniture industry to enable these findings. Now the interest stands within how augmented reality technology can be implemented in the clothing retail industry. The purposeof this study is to map out the consumer's experience of trying out virtual clothes through mobile augmented reality and find out if the technology can facilitate consumers to completea purchase decision online during a buying process of physical clothes. The study conducted participatory observations as well as semi structed interviews with the participants,further more the empirical findings were analyzed through a thematic analyzing method. What the study discovered was that certain aspects of the technology supports previous research done on augmented reality and other aspects deviated from earlier findings. Additionally, the study found that consumers would consider clothing testing through mobile augmented reality if it was implemented by a clothing retail company., Augmented reality har under de senaste åren blivit ett återkommande ämne bland företagsledare och marknadsförare på grund av att tidigare forskning påvisat att teknologin kan ha inflytande på konsumentbeteenden. Det finns nu ett intresse att se hur augmented reality teknologin kan bli implementerad i klädesindustrin. Studiens syfte är att kartlägga konsumenters upplevelse av att prova virtuella kläder genom mobile augmented reality och finna svar på om det kan underlätta för konsumenten att slutföra ett köpbeslut online vid en köpprocess av fysiska kläder. Undersökningen genomförde deltagande observationer och individuella semistrukturerade intervjuer med deltagarna, vidare analyserades empirin genomen en tematisk analysmetod. Undersökengen kom fram till att vissa aspekter av teknologin stödjer tidigare forskningsresultat och andra visades vara särskiljande. Vidare fann denna forskning att konsumenter kan tänka sig använda mobile augmented reality om det implementerats av ett detaljhandelsföretag inom klädindustrin.

In der Arbeit "Das Medium Handy zum Zeit totschlagen" steht die Frage im Zentrum, wann und wieso Menschen ihr Handy zum Zeitvertreib nutzen. Zur Beantwortung dieser Frage werden die Tagebucheinträge der Seminarteilnehmer*innen erst auf Informationsgehalt durchsucht und schließlich mit wissenschaftlicher Literatur verglichen. Der Zeitvertreib zeigt sich so besonders deutlich beim Start in den Tag, als Belohnung und Ablenkung, oder zur Zeitüberbrückung. Außer den praktischen Funktionen eines Smartphones werden auch die negativen Effekte der häufigen Nutzung erkennbar. Deshalb wird neben dem Müßiggang auch die Tendenz zur Sucht beleuchtet und im Fazit das Problem der häufig unbewussten Nutzung neben dem Erholungsfaktor verdeutlicht., The article "Mobile phone - the medium for wasting time" deals with the question when and why people use their mobile phones in order to pass time. With the aim of answering this question, the diary entries of the seminar participants will be read through concerning their content and will then be compared to scientific literature. This pastime can especially be observed in morning routines, as a reward, as a distraction, and as time bridging. Beneath some convenient functions of a smartphone, there also is a negative side to the frequent use of mobile phones. Therefore, next to idleness, the tendency of addiction will be looked at and finally, the problem of repeated unconscious use will be elucidated in the conclusion.
