The considerable changes in lifestyle patterns primarily affect the human gut microbiota and result in obesity, diabetes, dyslipidemia, renal complications, etc. though there are few traditional safeguards such as herbal brews to maintain the ecological stability under intestinal dysbiosis. The present article is designed to collect all the scientific facts in a place to decipher the role of the Indian traditional herbal brews used to balance gut health for centuries. Computerized databases, commercial search engines, research papers, articles, and books were used to search by using different keywords to select the most appropriate published articles from 2000 onward to September 2023. A total of 1907 articles were scrutinized, 46 articles were finally selected from the 254 screened, and targeted information was compiled. Interaction of herbal brews to the gut microflora and resulting metabolites act as prebiotics due to antimicrobial, anti-inflammatory, and antioxidant properties, and modulate the pH of the gut. The effect of brews on gut microbiota has a drastic impact on various gut-related diseases and has gained popularity as an alternative to antibiotics against bacteria, fungi, viruses, parasites, and boosting the immune system and strengthening the intestinal barrier. Berberine, kaempferol, piperine, and quercetin have been found in more than one brew discussed in the present article. Practically, these brews balance the gut microbiota, prevent chronic and degenerative diseases, and reduce organ inflammation, though, there is a knowledge gap on the molecular mechanism to explain their efficacy. Indian traditional herbal brews used to reboot and heal the gut microbiota since centuries-old practice with successful history without toxicity. The systematic consumption of these brews under specific dietary prescriptions has a hope of arrays for a healthy human gut microbiome in the present hasty lifestyle with overall health and well-being. International publications in social sciences by scholars based in mainland China have been increasing in volume, but little is known about the characteristics of China's contribution. This study examines the characteristics and patterns of international publications by Chinese scholars in higher education research. Data from three internationalized higher education journals were analyzed from 2000 to 2022. The results show a consistent pattern of continuous growth in the annual number of published articles with Chinese affiliations, with a marked increase since 2016. International collaborations are the most common type of publication, a pattern that contrasts with other articles in the same journal. In addition, returnee scholars have made significant contributions to international publications. Finally, the research of Chinese scholars is as influential as that of their international peers in terms of citation counts. Along with the development of productivity and efficiency analysis techniques, extensive research on the performance of hospitals has been conducted in the last few decades. In this article, we conduct a systematic review supported by a series of bibliometric analyses to obtain a panoramic perspective of the research about the productivity and efficiency of hospitals—a cornerstone of the healthcare system—with a focus on Australia and its peers, i.e., the UK, Canada, New Zealand, and Hong Kong. We focus on the bibliometric data in Scopus from 1970 to 2023 and provide a qualitative and critical analysis of major methods and findings in selected published journal articles. The continuous challenges to which family firms are subjected have led research in this field to focus on various aspects, thus generating a large and heterogeneous body of literature. This paper describes the evolution, status, and trends in family business literature over the decade 2012–2022 and also identifies gaps that may require further investigation. In that regard, new opportunities for additional analyses are also determined. To this end, a bibliometric study has been carried out based on a collection of articles from the Business Source Premier, Web of Science, and Scopus databases, yielding a total of 4064 articles. We analyze the main indicators of activity in family business research over the aforementioned period. The most productive authors and institutions, leading journals, and main research topics of these publications are reflected in this analysis. Likewise, the relationships between the most frequent co-authorships within the field are mapped, as well as the connections between co-words in published articles. In addition, the 10 most influential works published during those 10 years and changes in trends related to the most popular topics, in contrast to previous years, are also highlighted. On 6 February 2023, the destructive earthquakes (EQs) occurred in Kahramanmaras Turkey with the maximum magnitude 7.8. In this paper, based on multi-source satellite observations, we investigated the pre-seismic anomalies of infrared radiation and ionosphere, and analyzed the coupling features of multi-parameter anomalies in temporal evolution and spatial distribution. Analysis results indicated that in the vicinity of the epicenter, the outgoing longwave radiation (OLR) anomalies observed from NOAA-18 satellite were very obvious in January 2023, and the ionospheric plasma anomalies observed from CSES and SWARM satellites were significantly detected on 30 January 2023, which were probably the precursor signals of the impending main shock. Combined with the analysis results of crustal deformation and atmospheric compositions for the Turkey EQs in published articles, we believed that crustal stress changes and rock ruptures in the boundaries between the Arabian and African plates and the Anatolian block were more likely to cause the pre-seismic anomalies in infrared radiation, atmosphere and ionosphere. The observed anomalies had a clear coupling relationship, and represented the stage changes of seismogenic process for the Turkey EQs. In addition, the satellite remote sensing technology is very helpful for us to monitor the multi-parameter variations in lithosphere, atmosphere and ionosphere, better verify the correlation of pre-seismic anomalies in Earth's multi-sphere structures, and further promote the research on the multi-sphere anomaly coupling mechanism. Purpose: It is challenging for practitioners to navigate through the multitude of life cycle assessment (LCA) approaches due to the rich literature and a lack of systematisation. The LCA flexibility allowed by standards results in a multitude of applications and, as referred to in previous works, as an "alphabet soup". This paper proposes a scheme for a clearer classification of currently used LCA approaches, with consideration of the 4-stage framework coming from standards. Methods: This systematisation was first established through literature research serving as a preliminary tentative framework. A text mining task was carried out in a second stage, involving 2044 published articles among 7558 of the last 10 years. For text mining, a dictionary collected keywords and synonyms of the LCA approaches. Such keywords were then extracted from the text together with their context (multiword). The final multiword analysis allowed the association of each keyword (i.e. each LCA approach) with a specific LCA stage (Goal and Scope, Life Cycle Inventory, Life Cycle Impact Assessment, Interpretation). The preliminary framework was adapted, further enriched and validated based on the text mining results. Results: As a result of the text mining activities, the preliminary tentative framework was partially confirmed and enriched with new insights, especially in the field of "explorative" LCA approaches, which also include "prospective" and "scenario-based" LCA. For most of the currently used LCA approaches, a link to a unique LCA stage was not recorded. However, clear trends were detected. The text mining task also highlighted a high number of works in which different approaches are compared or counterposed, especially in the field of attributional and consequential LCA. Some issues were found with the connotations of "traditional" approaches, which could be defined more specifically as "non-explorative". Conclusions: Unlike other works focused on notions from selected literature, text mining activities can provide bottom-up feedback on a larger scale more automatically. In addition, this work brought out novel LCA approaches, for which future developments will confirm a final definition and systematisation. Current international consensus of the appropriate Beighton score cut-off to define if a child has generalised joint hypermobile or not is based upon expert opinion. Our aim was to determine the prevalence of Beighton scores of children worldwide to provide a recommendation for establishing the Beighton score cut-off to identify generalised joint hypermobility in children. We used AMED, OVID Medline, Embase and CINAHL to find published articles from inception to April 2024 describing Beighton scores of children up to and including 18 years from the general population. We extracted study demographics including country of publication, total number of participants, summary data about the age and sex of participant, Beighton scores and any cut-off used where authors deemed children hypermobile and how many children were rated at the corresponding Beighton scores. There were 37 articles reporting on the prevalence or incidence of hypermobility at cut-off scores from 28,868 participants. Using the cut-off of ≥ 6 resulted in a prevalence of 6% for studies reporting male data and 13% for studies reporting female data. Limited data reporting availability precluded further sub-analysis at a Beighton score of ≥ 7, age, pubertal status and ethnicity. Conclusion: The working threshold for identifying generalised joint hypermobility in children should be a Beighton score of 6 or more. Our analysis also suggests a Beighton score of 7 or greater may be appropriate in childhood, particularly for females. Objectives: The primary goal of this study was to systematically identify all relevant published articles on the use of primary endoscopic balloon dilation for the management of pediatric patients with subglottic stenosis, critically assess the technique's success, and determine which patients are the best candidates for the procedure. Methodology: This was a systematic review and meta-analysis that aimed to investigate the use and success rate of EBD for treating pediatric SGS. An electronic systematic literature search of three major databases, PubMed, EBSCO, and Web of Science&MEDLINE through Clarivate, was conducted to include the eligible articles. Results: A total of 14 unique studies were included in the final analysis, with 473 cases of pediatric SGS. The pooled success rate of EBD in treatment of pediatric SGS was 76% (k = 14 studies, 95% confidence interval [CI] = 0.65–0.86, P < 0.001, Q test for heterogeneity = 0.03, P <.001, I2 = 91%). Conclusions: We reported a high success rate of EBD in treating pediatric SGS. The reported complications were uncommon, although they can be serious and life threatening. Purpose: Middle segment-preserving pancreatectomy (MSPP) is a relatively new parenchymal-sparing surgery that has been introduced as an alternative to total pancreatectomy (TP) for multicentric benign and borderline pancreatic diseases. To date, only 36 cases have been reported in English. Methods: We reviewed 22 published articles on MSPP and reported an additional case. Results: Our patient was a 49-year-old Japanese man diagnosed with Zollinger-Elison syndrome (ZES) caused by duodenal and pancreatic gastrinoma associated with multiple endocrine neoplasia syndrome type 1. We avoided TP and chose MSPP as the operative technique due to his relatively young age. The patient developed a grade B postoperative pancreatic fistula (POPF), which improved with conservative treatment. He was discharged without further treatment. To date, no tumor has recurred, and pancreatic function seems to be maintained. According to a literature review, the morbidity rate of MSPP is as high as 54%, mainly due to the high incidence of POPF (32%). In contrast, there was no perioperative mortality, and postoperative pancreatic function was comparable to that after conventional pancreatectomy. Conclusions: Despite the high incidence of POPF, MSPP appears to be safe, with low perioperative mortality and good postoperative pancreatic sufficiency. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

This paper describes a comprehensive energy-related dataset, collected from residential electricity households within an energy community in Ireland, as part of StoreNet project. The data includes local weather parameters and per household power (W) and energy (Wh) components for various aspects such as active power consumption, PV generation, grid import and export, charging and discharging, and the state of charge of energy storage. Additionally, it provides weather data for the location at a 1-minute temporal resolution for the year 2020. The dataset has been validated by comparing measurements that should yield identical results to standard load profiles, with no significant inconsistencies discovered. Validation examples have also been given through the published articles where this dataset has been used to analyse peer-to-peer energy trading benefits for the energy community and decision-making support for aggregators. The dataset aids in understanding patterns in electrical load curves and the duty cycle of energy storage within an energy community. With their artificial autonomous functions, artificial intelligence (AI) artifacts have brought substantial changes to people's lives and become increasingly popular in all walks of life. Following the world of practice, research on the adoption of AI artifacts has grown over the past decade. Given that research on this issue is relatively new and largely fragmented, it is important to conduct a comprehensive review of existing studies and derive meaningful insights through the review. Therefore, this study aims to provide a rich overview of AI artifacts adoption studies over the past decade. A total of 182 published articles were reviewed. These articles were subsequently analyzed according to chronological distribution, geographical distribution, research methods, usage scenarios, research theories, and key influencing factors. This article aims to fill an existing knowledge gap within the literature: the characteristics of networks of publication on innovation management research and its relationship with country's innovativeness. The study is grounded in the theory that the creation of knowledge and collaboration within networks play a pivotal role in improving a nation's innovation capacity. It presents and describes the characteristics of co-authorship networks of scientific publications among authors from different countries. The published articles were extracted from the Scopus and Web of Science databases, considering a period of 12 years. Following the identification of pivotal countries, the research proceeded to investigate whether their positioning within the network has an impact on their innovation capabilities. To underpin this analysis, data from the Global Innovation Index ranking were employed. Among the six countries demonstrating noteworthy centrality metrics throughout the entire period, Germany, the United States, and the United Kingdom are also categorized as innovators according to the Global Innovation Index. The overlap observed suggests a relationship between countries maintaining consolidated and resilient innovation networks and positive performance in terms of innovation. Person re-identification (ReID) aims to find the person of interest across multiple non-overlapping cameras. It is considered an essential step for person tracking applications which is vital for surveillance. Person ReID could be investigated either using image-based or video-based. Video-based person ReID is considered more discriminating and realistic than image-based ReID due to the massive information extracted for each person. Different deep-learning techniques have been used for video-based ReID. In this survey, recently published articles are reviewed according to video-based ReID system pipeline: deep features learning, deep metric learning, and deep learning approaches. The deep feature learning approaches are categorized into spatial and temporal approaches, while deep metric learning is divided into metric and metric learning approaches. The deep learning approaches are differentiated into: supervised, unsupervised, weakly-supervised, and one-shot learning. This study aims to explore technological advances and prospects in phenol treatment by providing a detailed bibliometric survey of wastewater treatment applications, highlighting innovative advances in research. Using the Web of Science database, we identified 79,104 articles from 2003 to 2023, later refined to 1848. The keywords were used for the initial search: "phenol", "wastewater", "degradation", "treatment" and "removal". The bibliographic review details the occurrence of journals, authors, newspapers, countries, institutions, keywords, highly cited articles, and prominent predominant research fields. In particular, the field of "Engineering" was responsible for 32% of the published articles, followed by "Ecology of Environmental Sciences" (25%) and "Chemistry" (12%). In addition, a keyword analysis revealed five major groups of clusters that indicate where the research is progressing. This aspect is crucial for understanding the evolution and perspectives of research interests over time. Therefore, future research in the field should prioritize wastewater treatment and feedstock diversification. Bisphenol A (BPA) is an endocrine-disrupting compound and a mutagenic agent that poses health hazards to living organisms, making it a global contaminant. Several remediation techniques have been reported in the literature, however, a mixed-method science mapping analysis of research trends on BPA is still lacking. The present study aimed to investigate global research trends in BPA remediation. Published research papers on BPA remediation indexed in Web of Science, PubMed, and Scopus between 1992 and 2021 were analysed qualitatively and quantitatively using science mapping algorithms including Rstudio, bibliometrix package and R Version 4.2.1. The thematic areas were determined using k-means clustering of the author-keywords while Porter's stemming algorithm was used to stemmed inflectional terms to their roots. Overall, 640 documents were published by 1903 authors with 2.07 authors/article and 0.336 article/author, 4.31 co-authors/article, an annual growth rate of 17.35% and a collaboration index of 2.99. Research productivity increased from 1 article in 1992 to 93 articles in 2021. The citations of the topmost 23 articles ranged from 365 to 109 and the total citation per year ranged from 45.6 to 27.3. China (n = 267, 41.7%), Japan (n = 53, 8.3%), USA (n = 33, 5.2%) and Korea (n = 28, 4.4%) were respectively the top four countries based on the total of published articles and overall citation. There were 48 relevant keywords dominated by Bisphenol A, adsorption, biodegradation, and peroximonosulphate. The present analysis identifies research accomplishment, focus and gaps on Bisphenol A remediation and offer the researchers the information needed to forecast future research priorities that can help policymakers and governments to internationalize collaborations and create research curricula that can remediate BPA on a global scale. Uncertainty theory, founded in 2007, has become a branch of mathematics to model uncertainty rather than randomness. As an indispensable part of uncertainty theory, uncertain graph and uncertain network optimization has received the wide attention of many scholars. Naturally, a series of original research achievements have been obtained on uncertain graph and uncertain network optimization. This paper aims to present a state-of-the-art review on the recent advance in uncertain graph and uncertain network optimization. Furthermore, it hopes to predict the possible future research directions. Based on Web of Science database, this paper retrieves 144 related papers from 2011 to 2021 to analyze the features of published articles. More precisely, we analyze the annual number of publications, key topics and sub-fields, journals, and most-cited articles. Vaccinations have shown a decrease in human papillomavirus (HPV) infection-related cervical cancer in women, but there has been a sharp rise in the HPV infection-related oropharyngeal cancer cases over the past few decades. Recent studies have suggested the association of HPV infections with tonsillar cancers as well and suggestions regarding preventive tonsillectomies in order to achieve a decrease in HPV infection-related oropharyngeal or tonsillar cancer have arisen. However, there is limited cumulative evidence validated at a global level to support the endorsement of this strategy. This research revolves around the concept of burden of tonsillar carcinomas due to oropharyngeal HPV infection. Thus, a systematic review and meta-analysis of existing studies was undertaken to estimate the pooled prevalence of tonsillar cancer associated with oropharyngeal HPV infection. Published articles on tonsillar cancer with and without HPV infection from PubMed, Embase, Scopus and Web of Science were systematically searched from inception until 23 December 2021. A random-effects model was used to estimate the pooled prevalence forest plots. The systematic review revealed that 50% of the reported cases of tonsillar cancer had an oropharyngeal HPV infection, questioning the preventive nature of an early tonsillectomy which is essentially an invasive surgical procedure. Large heterogeneity was reported in the included studies, and there was insufficient data for sub-group analysis. The work of this paper is motivated by the recently published article (Zeidan et al., Math Methods Appl Sci 43(5):2171–2188, 2020) in which the authors have discussed the Adomian decomposition method (ADM) to solve one dimensional Burgers' equation in viscous and inviscid forms. Here, we propose an effective and efficient semi-analytical method named variational iteration method (VIM) (He, Int J Non-linear Mech 34(4):699–708, 1999) to solve the Burgers' equations considered in Zeidan et al. (Math Methods Appl Sci 43(5):2171–2188, 2020). The novelty of the proposed scheme over ADM is proven by comparing the truncated series solutions and presented in the form of graphs and error tables. In addition to this, VIM is extended to solve 2D, 3D, and systems of Burgers' equations. Thanks to the scheme, closed-form solutions are obtained in most of the cases. Cu-MOFs are exciting materials with lots of unique characteristics which will be suitable for sensing applications. To date, there have not been any published review on the suitability and efficiency of Cu-MOFs on hydrogen peroxide sensing, despite its huge potential in this regard. This systematic review assessed published articles on the subject using the Web of Science. The included studies were assessed in terms of quality using the risk of bias assessment criteria. Out of the 101 screened articles, 50 studies were eligible and included in this review. Non-enzymatic detection of hydrogen peroxide using copper-based MOFs exhibited better performance in terms of limit of detection, sensitivity, and linear response than enzyme-assisted detection. Ligand type and Cu-MOF synthetic techniques demonstrated a great effect on the structural property of the synthesized MOF, which in turn improved its catalytic property. Based on the available data in the reviewed articles. Cu-MOFs has great potential for use as commercial hydrogen peroxide sensor. The impostor phenomenon was introduced over four decades ago and has become an increasingly popular research topic. Nonetheless, few empirical investigations offer a quantitative analysis of the patterns and structures within the impostor phenomenon's literature base. This limits researchers to an incomplete and reactive understanding of the scope and trajectory of research about the impostor phenomenon. The current investigation utilized bibliometric analyses (e.g., science mapping and performance analysis) to illuminate prominent contributors and the latent themes within the impostor phenomenon literature. The findings identified important characteristics of the impostor phenomenon literature, such as the most dominant or published authors, frequently cited articles, its global existence across countries, and its rapidly increasing rate of published articles. The findings also illuminated research streams within the impostor phenomenon literature and identified the emerging trend of examining the impostor phenomenon within the STEM context. Background: Social media (SoMe) use, in all of its forms, has seen massively increased throughout the past two decades, including academic publishing. Many journals have established a SoMe presence, yet the influence of promotion of scientific publications on their visibility and impact remains poorly studied. The European Journal of Neurosurgery «Acta Neurochirurgica» has established its SoMe presence in form of a Twitter account that regularly promotes its publications. We aim to analyze the impact of this initial SoMe campaign on various alternative metrics (altmetrics). Methods: A retrospective analysis of all articles published in the journal Acta Neurochirurgica between May 1st, 2018, and April 30th, 2020, was performed. These articles were divided into a historical control group — containing the articles published between May 1st, 2018, and April 30th, 2019, when the SoMe campaign was not yet established — and into an intervention group. Several altmetrics were analyzed, along with website visits and PDF downloads per month. Results: In total, 784 articles published during the study period, 128 (16.3%) were promoted via Twitter. During the promotion period, 29.7% of published articles were promoted. Overall, the published articles reached a mean of 31.3 ± 50.5 website visits and 17.5 ± 31.25 PDF downloads per month. Comparing the two study periods, no statistically significant differences in website visits (26.91 ± 32.87 vs. 34.90 ± 61.08, p = 0.189) and PDF downloads (17.52 ± 31.25 vs. 15.33 ± 16.07, p = 0.276) were detected. However, overall compared to non-promoted articles, promoted articles were visited (48.9 ± 95.0 vs. 29.0 ± 37.0, p = 0.005) and downloaded significantly more (25.7 ± 66.7 vs. 16.6 ± 18.0, p = 0.045) when compared to those who were not promoted during the promotion period. Conclusions: We report a 1-year initial experience with promotion of a general neurosurgical journal on Twitter. Our data suggest a clear benefit of promotion on article site visits and article downloads, although no single responsible element could be determined in terms of altmetrics. Retractions of peer-reviewed biomedical journal articles with Indian authorship have been on the rise for many years. Our study aimed to investigate the reason behind these retractions, namely plagiarism, falsification, fabrication, duplicate publication, author conflicts, ethical issues, fake peer-reviews, and data-related issues, besides providing year-wise trends regarding retraction, authorship, impact factor, and citations. We retrieved retracted publications with Indian affiliations indexed in MEDLINE between 1 January 1990 to 31 December 2021. During this period a total of 619 papers from 372 different journals with median values (interquartile range) pertaining to impact factor [3.2 (1.5, 5.2)], retraction time [24 (10, 51)] months, pre-retraction citations [4 (1, 12)], and post-retraction citations [4 (2, 12)] were retracted. While retractions still account for a small fraction of all publications (0.1%), the overall rate of retractions, that is, the number of retractions relative to the number of newly published journal articles in a given year, has been increasing. The reasons for retractions included plagiarism (27%), falsification and fabrication (26%), duplicate publication (21%), erroneous data (12%), authorship issues (4%), fake-peer reviews (3%), and ethical and funding issues (2%). We have analysed these reasons separately and compared them with each other. Besides a spurt in retraction due to plagiarism, instances of falsification have been escalating over the past decade. Half of the papers retracted on grounds of falsification were published by repeat offender authors in high-impact journals. Furthermore, 82% of retracted papers continued to accumulate citations even after the release of the journal retraction notices. The increase in retractions raises concerns over research quality as well as the wastage of scientific resources, which is especially pressing considering the present environment of scarce funding. The problem of retractions due to reasons such as plagiarism, duplicate publication, authorship issues, and, ethical issues as well as post-retraction citations can be mitigated by educating and raising awareness on publication ethics and responsible research conduct of researchers and journal publishers. Objective: This systematic review assessed the available evidence on the survival and success rate of zirconia and titanium implants. As secondary outcomes, aesthetic, radiographic and clinical parameters, as well as biological and mechanical complications, were considered. Materials and methods: A systematic search was performed up to March 2022 to identify CCTs/RCTs comparing zirconia and titanium implants with a minimum of 12 months of follow-up. Meta-analysis was performed when ≥ 2 articles with similar characteristics were retrieved. Results: Four published articles with two RCTs (2 different patient populations) with 100 zirconia and 99 titanium implants that were followed up over 12–80 months were selected out of the 6040 articles. A non-statistically significant difference between zirconia and titanium implant survival at 12 months was suggested (P = 0.0938). The success rates were 57.5–93.3% and 57.1–100% for zirconia and titanium implants, respectively. The pink aesthetic score (PES) was higher for zirconia (10.33 ± 2.06 to 11.38 ± 0.92) compared to titanium implants (8.14 ± 3.58 to 11.56 ± 1.0). Conclusion: Based on the 2 RCTs retrieved in the literature, similar survival rates were reported for zirconia and titanium implants in the short term (12 months of follow-up). Future RCTs are warranted to evaluate the long-term outcomes of zirconia implants. Clinical relevance: Zirconia implants may be the procedure of choice, particularly in the aesthetic zone, since they show a similar survival and success rate as titanium implants on a short-term follow-up. There is concern that preprint articles will lead to an increase in the amount of scientifically invalid work available. The objectives of this study were to determine the proportion of prevention preprints published within 12 months, the consistency of the effect estimates and conclusions between preprint and published articles, and the reasons for the nonpublication of preprints. Of the 329 prevention preprints that met our eligibility criteria, almost half (48.9%) were published in a peer-reviewed journal within 12 months of being posted. While 16.8% published preprints showed some change in the magnitude of the primary outcome effect estimate, 4.4% were classified as having a major change. The style or wording of the conclusion changed in 42.2%, the content in 3.1%. Preprints on chemoprevention, with a cross-sectional design, and with public and noncommercial funding had the highest probabilities of publication. The main reasons for the nonpublication of preprints were journal rejection or lack of time. The reliability of preprint articles for evidence-based decision-making is questionable. Less than half of the preprint articles on prevention research are published in a peer-reviewed journal within 12 months, and significant changes in effect sizes and/or conclusions are still possible during the peer-review process. Iraq is located in the extreme northeastern part of the Arabian Plate, which is in collision with the Iranian (Eurasian) Plate. The collision, which is still ongoing has created tens of folds some of which exhibit different types of faults. The exerted compressional forces are believed to be decreasing southwestwards as being far from the collision area (Suture Zone). Accordingly, all the existing tectonic and geological maps compiled by different authors and all the existing published articles, reports and books have considered two main tectonic domains in Iraq. The Stable Shelf and Unstable Shelf or Inner Platform and Outer Platform. The contact between these two main divisions follows almost the Euphrates River; towards the west of the river is the tectonically Stable area and towards the east and north is the tectonically Unstable area, which means the presence of different structural forms. In the current study, we have recognized tens of different Neotectonic evidence in the Stable part indicating that the area is tectonically not stable. Among those indications are abandoned valleys, development of sinkholes along certain lineaments, bending of valleys in right angles, and development of nick-points in valleys along certain lineaments. Evidence-based policy uses intervention research to inform consequential decisions about resource allocation. Research findings are often published in peer-reviewed journals. Because detrimental research practices associated with closed science are common, journal articles report more false-positives and exaggerated effect sizes than would be desirable. Journal implementation of standards that promote open science—such as the transparency and openness promotion (TOP) guidelines—could reduce detrimental research practices and improve the trustworthiness of research evidence on intervention effectiveness. We evaluated TOP implementation at 339 peer-reviewed journals that have been used to identify evidence-based interventions for policymaking and programmatic decisions. Each of ten open science standards in TOP was not implemented in most journals' policies (instructions to authors), procedures (manuscript submission systems), or practices (published articles). Journals implementing at least one standard typically encouraged, but did not require, an open science practice. Diversity is widely recognized as a driver of excellence and innovation. In recent years, women have become an increasingly significant part of the rheumatology workforce. We aimed to assess the gender representation of the leading rheumatology journals' editors and to explore whether editors' gender correlates with the gender of the first and last authors of published articles. We conducted a cross-sectional study and extracted editorial members of rheumatology journals in quartiles 1 to 3 (Clarivate Analytics) from each journal's website. We categorized editorial positions according to the level of influence in manuscript acceptance decision-making (levels I to III). The gender of editors and of the first and last authors in all 2019 original articles published in a sample of 15 rheumatology journals was assigned using a combination of digital gallery and manual searches. There were 2242 editors' names retrieved from 43 journals, 24 (26%) of the 94 editors at level I, 139 (36%) of 385 editors at level II, and 469 (27%) of 1763 at level III were female. The imbalance between journals was heterogeneous. Females were the first authors in 1342 (48%) and the last authors in 969 (35%) of the 2797 published articles. However, we found no significant correlation between editors' and authors' gender. Our data showed uneven gender representation on the editorial boards of most rheumatology journals, but we did not find any apparent vertical segregation or influence on publishing by gender. Due to the expansion and shrinkage deformation caused by the cyclic drying and wetting process, the expansive soil slope often slides in a shallow, long-term and repetitive way, resulting in the changing contribution rate of safety evaluation factors to the stability of the slope constantly changes. In this work, a variable weight Fuzzy-AHP method was constructed to constantly evaluate the safety of expansive soil slopes. Firstly, considering the effects of differences in expansibility, two variable weight models for strong and medium-weak expansive soils were proposed, respectively, based on the cohesion-water content relationships in published articles. Meanwhile, the ridge-shaped membership function was adopted in the proposed method, aiming to timely response the deterioration of evaluation factors. Using the proposed variable weight Fuzzy-AHP method, analyses were conducted on an expansive soil slope in Guangxi, China. Results show that the method proposed in this work could dynamically evaluate the stability of the expansive soil slope comparing to that obtained by the traditional constant weight Fuzzy-AHP method, verifying the reliability and superiority of the variable weight Fuzzy-AHP stability evaluation method established in this work. Background: Endoscopic band ligation (EBL) and radiofrequency ablation (RFA) have emerged as alternative therapies of gastric antral vascular ectasia (GAVE) in addition to endoscopic thermal therapy (ETT), but the optimum choice remains inconclusive. Aim: We conducted a meta-analysis in order to compare these three treatments for GAVE. Methods: We searched the electronic databases of PubMed, Embase and Cochrane Central Register of Controlled Trials without any language restrictions and also performed a manual literature search of bibliographies located in both retrieved articles and published reviews for eligible publications prior to December 8, 2021. We included comparative trials which had evaluated the efficacy and safety of interventions in adults (aged ≥ 18 years) diagnosed with symptomatic GAVE and was confirmed according to clinical backgrounds and upper gastrointestinal endoscopy. We included reports that compared three interventions, ETT, EBL, and RFA. The study was comprised of adults diagnosed with GAVE and focused on overall mortality, bleeding cessation, endoscopic improvement, complications, hospitalization, hemoglobin improvement, number of sessions and transfusion requirements. Results: Twelve studies were performed involving a total of 571 participants for analysis. When compared with ETT, EBL achieved better bleeding cessation (OR 4.48, 95% CI 1.36–14.77, p = 0.01), higher hemoglobin improvement (MD 0.57, 95% CI 0.31–0.83, p < 0.01) and lower number of sessions (MD − 1.44, 95% CI − 2.54 to − 0.34, p = 0.01). Additionally, EBL was superior to ETT in endoscopic improvement (OR 6.00, 95% CI 2.26–15.97, p < 0.01), hospitalization (MD − 1.32, 95% CI − 1.91 to − 0.74, p < 0.01) and transfusion requirement (MD − 2.66, 95% CI − 4.67 to − 0.65, p = 0.01) with statistical significance, with the exception of mortality (OR 0.58, 95% CI 0.19–1.77, p = 0.34) and complication rate (OR 5.33, 95% CI 0.58–48.84, p = 0.14). Conclusion: For GAVE, we suggest that EBL be initially recommended, and APC and RFA be used as alternative treatment choices based upon a very low quality of evidence. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The purpose of this review was to evaluate the air–bone gap with vestibular aqueduct size in enlarged vestibular aqueduct syndrome. According to the PRISMA guidelines we conducted a systematic review of the literature. Published international articles in English from 2000 to 2022 were screened, checking for studies that evaluated the air–bone gap of patients affected by enlarged vestibular aqueduct syndrome and the size of vestibular aqueduct. Data related to the hearing assessment and imaging investigation of enrolled participants were extracted. The chosen primary outcome measure was the correlation between air-bone-gap and vestibular aqueduct size. The database search allowed us to screen 485 articles and to select 5 articles discussing this topic for a total of 349 patients. Two studies showed a positive correlation between air–bone gap and vestibular aqueduct size, one only a trend and two no correlation. To date, it is not possible to draw conclusions whether or not there is a positive correlation between air–bone gap and vestibular aqueduct size in enlarged vestibular aqueduct syndrome. Microplastics, as a currently emerging pollutant, are gaining increasing attention from researchers in various fields. The purpose of this study is to summarize research development on microplastics in the field of neurotoxicity using bibliometric tools and visualization methods and to identify current research hotspots. The Web of Science Core Collection (WoSCC) was searched under the topics of "microplastics" and "neurotoxicity." A total of 33 published articles were obtained by exclusion and analyzed using CiteSpace (V6.1.R2). It was found that microplastic neurotoxicity research is currently on the rise, with the most research results being published in China, the most collaboration occurring between Italy and other countries, and the least collaboration occurring between authors. The focus and hotspots of future research on the neurotoxicity of microplastics may revolve around "accumulation" and "integrated biomarker response." These findings demonstrate the trends and frontiers in the field of microplastic neurotoxicity research and provide valuable information for subsequent research directions and potential collaborations. Dyslexia is one of the most studied learning disorders. Despite this, its biological basis and main causes are still not fully understood. Electroencephalography (EEG) could be a powerful tool in identifying the underlying mechanisms, but knowledge of the EEG correlates of developmental dyslexia (DD) remains elusive. We aimed to systematically review the evidence on EEG correlates of DD and establish their quality. In July 2021, we carried out an online search of the PubMed and Scopus databases to identify published articles on EEG correlates in children with dyslexia aged 6 to 12 years without comorbidities. We follow the PRISMA guidelines and assess the quality using the Appraisal Tool questionnaire. Our final analysis included 49 studies (14% high quality, 63% medium, 20% low, and 2% very low). Studies differed greatly in methodology, making a summary of their results challenging. However, some points came to light. Even at rest, children with dyslexia and children in the control group exhibited differences in several EEG measures, particularly in theta and alpha frequencies; these frequencies appear to be associated with learning performance. During reading-related tasks, the differences between dyslexic and control children seem more localized in the left temporoparietal sites. The EEG activity of children with dyslexia and children in the control group differed in many aspects, both at rest and during reading-related tasks. Scientific research on biodiversity and conservation generates the knowledge base useful in achieving sustainability targets. The knowledge gap limits our ability to design well-founded strategies and impedes the prospects of addressing myriad conservation challenges. It is therefore important to assess trends and biases in biodiversity and conservation literature to monitor progress and make corrective actions where needed. Nepal is considered among the most biodiverse regions globally, yet little is known about the progress of biodiversity and conservation science. Here we reviewed 1098 articles published over the last fifty-six years (1964–2019) and provide a snapshot of research patterns, trends and gaps in terms research lens, physiography, ecosystem, protected area, taxonomy, ecological focus, funding, research recommendation, and research authorship and collaboration. The results of our study showed a monotonic trend of article publication until 1990, which increased significantly after 1999. There is a growing trend in the number of publications with socio-economic and multidisciplinary lens. Research publications are highly biased in favour of few taxonomic groups, mainly gymnosperms and mammals, with a preponderance of certain species, while other classes of both the plant and animal kingdoms were less studied. There was disproportionately low focus on certain physiographic regions (e.g., high Himalaya, Siwalik), ecosystem types (e.g., wetlands) and non-protected areas. Articles with an ecological focus were mainly exploratory—e.g., describing general distributions—whereas specialized ecological/evolutionary research (e.g., grazing, competition, physiology), except for genetics and climate change, were rare. More than half of the articles were authored only by foreign-based researchers, who contributed up to 89% of published articles, and consistently maintained dominance as corresponding and lead authors. There is a need to realign research efforts and support home-grown researchers with training, funding and institution-building. This requires a concerted commitment by the Government of Nepal, conservation organizations, researchers and academic institutions. Soil nitrogen (N) pools and fluxes are strongly influenced by litter inputs in natural ecosystems. However, general responses of soil N pools and fluxes to litter inputs from both above- and belowground are still lacking at a global scale. Here, we compiled 2791 paired observations from 145 published articles to assess global effects of altered leaf litter and roots inputs on soil N pools and fluxes. We found that litter addition increased soil N pools and fluxes globally, with a 30.6% increase in soil microbial biomass N (MBN) pool, a 28.9% increase in dissolved organic N (DON) pool, a 15.8% increase in ammonia (NH4+) pool and a 12.6% increase in nitrous oxide (N2O) fluxes. In contrast, litter removal decreased soil MBN, DON and nitrate (NO3−) pools and N2O fluxes by 9.6%, 9.2%, 9.1% and 16.9%, respectively. Moreover, the increases in soil N pools in response to leaf litter addition and root removal were greater than their decreases in response to leaf litter removal. Soil N pools in forests, especially mixed forests, responded more positively to litter addition than those in grasslands. However, the negative effects of litter removal on soil N pools were contingent upon environmental conditions. In particular, the negative effects of litter removal on soil DON and NO3− pools were stronger in region with warmer and wetter climates and in soils with higher pH. Our synthesis highlights the globally positive effects of litter inputs on soil N pools and fluxes and the importance of litter type, climate factors and soil pH in understanding soil N pools and fluxes responses. Background: Community members may provide useful perspectives on manuscripts submitted to medical journals. Objective: To determine the impact of community members reviewing medical journal manuscripts. Design: Randomized controlled trial involving 578 original research manuscripts submitted to two medical journals from June 2018 to November 2021. Participants: Twenty-eight community members who were trained, supervised, and compensated. Interventions: A total of 289 randomly selected control manuscripts were reviewed by scientific reviewers only. And 289 randomly selected intervention manuscripts were reviewed by scientific reviewers and one community member. Journal editorial teams used all reviews to make decisions about acceptance, revision, or rejection of manuscripts. Main Measures: Usefulness of reviews to editors, content of community reviews, and changes made to published articles in response to community reviewer comments. Key Results: Editor ratings of community and scientific reviews averaged 3.1 and 3.3, respectively (difference 0.2, 95% confidence interval [CI] 0.1 to 0.3), on a 5-point scale where a higher score indicates a more useful review. Qualitative analysis of the content of community reviews identified two taxonomies of themes: study attributes and viewpoints. Study attributes are the sections, topics, and components of manuscripts commented on by reviewers. Viewpoints are reviewer perceptions and perspectives on the research described in manuscripts and consisted of four major themes: (1) diversity of study participants, (2) relevance to patients and communities, (3) cultural considerations and social context, and (4) implementation of research by patients and communities. A total of 186 community reviewer comments were integrated into 64 published intervention group articles. Viewpoint themes were present more often in 66 published intervention articles compared to 54 published control articles (2.8 vs. 1.7 themes/article, difference 1.1, 95% CI 0.4 to 1.8). Conclusions: With training, supervision, and compensation, community members are able to review manuscripts submitted to medical journals. Their comments are useful to editors, address topics relevant to patients and communities, and are reflected in published articles.
