Soft robots present resilient and adaptable systems characterized by deformable bodies inspired by biological systems. In this paper, we comprehensively review existing design methods for soft robots. One unique feature of our review is that we first formulate criteria, which enables us to derive knowledge gaps and suggest future research directions to close these gaps and go further. Another distinctive feature of our review is that we pivot on the general engineering design process for soft robots. As such, we consider three criteria: (1) the availability of design requirements to start with the design of soft robots, (2) the availability of the so-called concept design or architecture design for soft robots, and (3) the systematic process that leads to the final design of soft robots. The review is conducted systematically, especially when searching for and selecting relevant publications in the literature. Precisely assessing the vulnerability of landslides is essential for effective risk assessment. The findings from such assessments will undoubtedly be in high demand, providing a solid scientific foundation for a range of critical initiatives aimed at disaster prevention and control. In the research, authors set the ancient core district of Sichuan Moxi Ancient Town as the research object; they conduct and give the final result of the geological survey. Fault influences are commonly utilized as key markers for delineating strata in the field of stratigraphy, and the slope distance, slope angle, slope aspect, elevation, terrain undulation, plane curvature, profile curvature, mean curvature, relative elevation, land use type, surface roughness, water influence, distance of the catchment, cumulative water volume, and the Normalized Vegetation Index (NDVI) are used along roads to calculate annual rainfall. With the purpose of the establishment of the evaluation system, there are 17 factors selected in total. Through the landslide-susceptibility assessment by the coupled models of DNN-I-SVM and DNN-I-LR nine factors had been selected; it was found that the Area Under the Curve (AUC) value of the Receiver Operating Characteristic Curve (ROC) was high, and the accuracy of the model is relatively high. The coupler, DNN-I-LR, gives 0.875 of an evaluation accuracy of AUC, higher than DNN-I-SVM, which yielded 0.860. It is necessary to note that, in this region, compared to the DNN-I-SVM model, the DNN-I-LR coupling model has better fitting and prediction abilities. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

In recent years, cell migration assays (CMAs) have emerged as a tool to study the migration of cells along with their physiological responses under various stimuli, including both mechanical and bio-chemical properties. CMAs are a generic system in that they support various biological applications, such as wound healing assays. In this paper, we review the development of the CMA in the context of its application to wound healing assays. As such, the wound healing assay will be used to derive the requirements on CMAs. This paper will provide a comprehensive and critical review of the development of CMAs along with their application to wound healing assays. One salient feature of our methodology in this paper is the application of the so-called design thinking; namely we define the requirements of CMAs first and then take them as a benchmark for various developments of CMAs in the literature. The state-of-the-art CMAs are compared with this benchmark to derive the knowledge and technological gap with CMAs in the literature. Skin aging is a complex physiological process, in which cells and the extracellular matrix (ECM) interreact, which leads to a change in the mechanical properties of skin, which in turn affects the cell secretion and ECM deposition. The natural skin microrelief that exists from birth has rarely been taken into account when evaluating skin aging, apart from the common knowledge that microreliefs might serve as the starting point or initialize micro-wrinkles. In fact, microrelief itself also changes with aging. Does the microrelief have other, better uses? In this paper, owing to the fast-developing 3D printing technology, skin wrinkles with microrelief of different age groups were successfully manufactured using the Digital light processing (DLP) technology. The mechanical properties of skin samples with and without microrelief were tested. It was found that microrelief has a big impact on the elastic modulus of skin samples. In order to explore the role of microrelief in skin aging, the wrinkle formation was numerically analyzed. The microrelief models of different age groups were created using the modified Voronoi algorithm for the first time, which offers fast and flexible mesh formation. We found that skin microrelief plays an important role in regulating the modulus of the epidermis, which is the dominant factor in wrinkle formation. The wrinkle length and depth were also analyzed numerically for the first time, owing to the additional dimension offered by microrelief. The results showed that wrinkles are mainly caused by the modulus change of the epidermis in the aging process, and compared with the dermis, the hypodermis is irrelevant to wrinkling. Hereby, we developed a hypothesis that microrelief makes the skin adaptive to the mechanical property changes from aging by adjusting its shape and size. The native-like skin samples with microrelief might shed a light on the mechanism of wrinkling and also help with understanding the complex physiological processes associated with human skin. Sulfur-resistant Mo-based catalysts have become promising for the one-step synthesis of methanethiol (CH3SH) from CO/H2/H2S, but the low reactant conversion and poor product selectivity have constrained its development. Herein, we synthesized K-MoS2/Al2O3 and K-Mo2C/Al2O3 catalysts via the sulfurization and carbonization of K-Mo-based catalysts in the oxidized state, respectively. During the synthesis of CH3SH, both K-Mo2C/Al2O3 and K-MoS2/Al2O3 showed excellent catalytic performance, and the activity of the former is superior to that of the latter. The effect of different treatments on the catalytic performance of Mo-based catalysts was investigated by XRD, BET, Raman spectroscopy, H2-TPR, and reactants-TPD characterization. The results showed that the sulfide-treated sample showed stronger metal-support interactions and contributed to the formation of K2S, which exposed more active sites and stabilized the formation of C-S bonds. Carbonized samples enhanced the activation of H2, which promoted the hydrogenation of the intermediate species of carbonyl sulfide (COS) and thus improved the selectivity of CH3SH. Electric vehicles (EVs) are experiencing explosive developments due to their advantages in energy conservation and environmental protection. As a pivotal component of EVs, the safety performance of lithium-ion batteries directly affects driving miles and even safety; hence, a battery thermal management system (BTMS) is especially important. To improve the thermal safety performance of power battery modules, first, a new leak-proof phase change material (PCM)-coupled liquid-cooled composite BTMS for large-scale battery modules is proposed in this research. Second, the numerical simulation analysis method was utilized to analyze the influences of the fluid flow channel shape, working fluid inlet temperature, inlet velocity, and reverse flow conditions on the BTMS. Eventually, the abovementioned performances were compared with the traditional PCM-coupled liquid-cooling strategy. The relative data indicated that the Tmax was reduced by 17.5% and the ΔTmax was decreased by 19.5% compared to the liquid-cooling approach. Further, compared with conventionally designed PCM composite liquid cooling, the ΔTmax was reduced by 34.9%. The corresponding data showed that, when using the e-type flow channel, reverse flow II, the inlet flow velocity was 0.001–0.005 m/s, and the inlet temperature was the ambient temperature of the working condition. The thermal performance of the anti-leakage system with a thermal conduction slot PCM-coupled liquid-cooling composite BTMS reached optimal thermal performance. The outcome proved the superiority of the proposed BTMS regarding temperature control and temperature equalization capabilities. Prosthetic technology has witnessed remarkable advancements, yet challenges persist in achieving autonomous grasping control while ensuring the user's experience is not compromised. Current electronic prosthetics often require extensive training for users to gain fine motor control over the prosthetic fingers, hindering their usability and acceptance. To address this challenge and improve the autonomy of prosthetics, this paper proposes an automated method that leverages computer vision-based techniques and machine learning algorithms. In this study, three reinforcement learning algorithms, namely Soft Actor-Critic (SAC), Deep Q-Network (DQN), and Proximal Policy Optimization (PPO), are employed to train agents for automated grasping tasks. The results indicate that the SAC algorithm achieves the highest success rate of 99% among the three algorithms at just under 200,000 timesteps. This research also shows that an object's physical characteristics can affect the agent's ability to learn an optimal policy. Directed Energy Deposition (DED), a branch of AM processes, has emerged as a significant technique for fabricating large metal components in sectors such as aerospace, automotive, and healthcare. DED is characterized by its high deposition rate and scalability, which stand out among other AM processes. However, it encounters critical issues such as residual stresses, distortion, porosity, and rough surfaces resulting from rapid melting and solidification. As a novel advancement, Ultrasonic-Assisted Directed Energy Deposition (UA-DED) integrates ultrasonic oscillations into DED aimed at addressing these challenges. Herein, the latest research related to the UA-DED process and the current major challenges of the DED process, residual stresses, porosity, and crack defects are critically reviewed. Subsequently, the paper also details the working principle and system components of UA-DED technology and reviews the material improvement by introducing UA into the DED process, grain, porosity, tensile properties, and deposition defects. The most critical optimization methods of process parameter variables for UA and the different material interaction mechanisms between UA and DED processes are identified and discussed in detail. Pressure measurement is of great importance due to its wide range of applications in many fields. AT-cut quartz, with its exceptional precision and durability, stands out as an excellent pressure transducer due to its superior accuracy and stable performance over time. However, its intrinsic temperature dependence significantly hinders its potential application in varying temperature environments. Herein, three different learning algorithms (i.e., multivariate polynomial regression, multilayer perceptron networks, and support vector regression) are elaborated in detail and applied to establish the prediction models for compensating the temperature effect of the resonant pressure sensor, respectively. The AC-cut quartz, which is sensitive to temperature variations, is paired with the AT-cut quartz, providing the essential temperature information. The output frequencies derived from the AT-cut and AC-cut quartzes are selected as input data for these learning algorithms. Through experimental validation, all three methods are effective, and a remarkable improvement in accuracy can be achieved. Among the three methods, the MPR model has exceptionally high accuracy in predicting pressure. The calculated residual error over the temperature range of −10–40 °C is less than 0.008% of 40 MPa full scale (FS). An intelligent automatic compensation and real-time processing system for the resonant pressure sensor is developed as well, which may contribute to improving the efficiency in online calibration and large-scale industrialization. The autonomous shipping industry is increasingly focusing on enhancing the safety and reliability of software-based systems. Conducting a risk assessment is a requirement for demonstrating the safety equivalence of autonomous ships based on such systems to conventional vessels. Traditional risk assessment models, however, primarily focus on hardware failures, often overlooking potential software-related failures and functional inadequacies. This study proposes a framework integrating Software Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA), System–Theoretic Process Analysis (STPA), and Bayesian Network (BN) for risk identification of autonomous ship software systems. The results of a case study reveal that the framework sufficiently addresses the multifaceted nature of risks related to software in autonomous ships. Based on the findings of this study, we suggest the need for standardization of software architecture development in the autonomous ship industry and highlight the necessity for an enhanced understanding of AI-specific risks and the development of tailored risk assessment methodologies. Arctic navigation faces numerous challenges, including uncertain ice conditions, rapid weather changes, limited communication capabilities, and lack of search and rescue infrastructure, all of which increase the risks involved. According to an Arctic Council statistical report, a remarkable 2638 maritime accidents were recorded in Arctic waters between 2005 and 2017, showing a fluctuating upward trend. This study collected and analyzed ship accident data in Arctic waters to identify the various accident scenarios and primary risk factors that impact Arctic navigation safety. By utilizing data-driven algorithms, a model for predicting ship navigation accidents in Arctic waters was constructed, providing an in-depth understanding of the risk factors that make accidents more likely. The research findings are of practical significance for enhancing quantitative risk assessment, specifically focusing on the navigational risks in Arctic waters. The results of this study can assist maritime authorities and shipping companies in conducting risk analysis and implementing accident prevention measures for safe navigation in Arctic waters. Natural killer (NK) cells play a vital role in xenotransplantation rejection. One approach to induce NK cell immune tolerance is to prevent the NK cell-mediated direct killing of porcine cells by targeting the interaction of the activating receptor NKG2D and its ligands. However, the identity of porcine ligands for the human NKG2D receptor has remained elusive. Previous studies on porcine UL-16 binding protein 1 (pULBP-1) as a ligand for human NKG2D have yielded contradictory results. The goal of the present study was to clarify the role of pULBP-1 in the immune response and its interaction with human NKG2D receptor. To accomplish this, the CRISPR/Cas9 gene editing tool was employed to disrupt the porcine ULBP-1 gene in a 5-gene knockout porcine endothelial cell line (GGTA1, CMAH, β4galNT2, SLA-I α chain, and β-2 microglobulin, 5GKO). A colony with two allele mutations in pULBP-1 was established as a 6-gene knockout pig cell line (6GKO). We found that pULBP-1-deficient pig cells exhibited a reduced binding capacity to human NKG2D-Fc, a recombinant chimera protein. However, the removal of ULBP-1 from porcine endothelial cells did not significantly impact human NK cell degranulation or cytotoxicity upon stimulation with the pig cells. In recent years, the increasing volume and complexity of ship traffic has raised the probability of collision accidents in ports, waterways, and coastal waters. Due to the relative rarity of collision accidents, near misses have been used in the research to study the collision risk in the relevant water areas. However, the factor of near miss identification is usually limited to the relative distance between ships, and the instantaneous quantification and geographical distribution of collision risk is not paid enough attention. Therefore, this article proposed a domain-based regional collision risk model that can quantify the collision risk by detecting near miss scenarios. The proposed model is capable of quantifying the collision risk in the water area instantaneously and periodically and can be used to depict the geographical distribution of collision risks in combination with a grid method and the spatial interpolation technique. To validate the proposed model, some experimental case studies were carried out using automatic identification system (AIS) data from the Bohai Strait. The results show the capability and advantage of the proposed model in regional collision risk identification and visualization, which is helpful for maritime surveillance when monitoring and organizing ship traffic and may therefore contribute to the improvement of maritime safety. Land management has its local dimension in rural, peri-urban, and urban perspectives. Recently China adopted rural revitalization in response to the rapid rural–urban migration and the emergence of hollow villages, characterized by declining and ageing populations, limited economic and social opportunities for residents, and depleting natural resources. It covers political, cultural, social, and ecological progress issues for speeding up local development in rural areas. By taking a specific cross-country approach, this study presents the evolution of adapting the experience of Bavarian rural revitalization to Sichuan, China, through the coordinated, integrated master plan approach. It frames an approach to rural revitalization in China by drawing on Bavarian experiences in rural development. The study is based on a pilot project in the Sichuan Province of China undertaken by the Hanns Seidel Foundation to strengthen the Chinese rural revitalization strategy. It addresses the rural development complexity in China through a locally coordinated, integrated master plan based on adapting rural development principles from Bavaria (Germany) to China. It shows that, at the local level, Germany's rural development principles can be applied to China. It contributes to cross-country, future-orientated support for rural revitalization, strengthening communities, nature protection, and improving the living conditions of rural people. In this paper, we derive closed-form formulas of first-order approximation for down-and-out barrier and floating strike lookback put option prices under a stochastic volatility model using an asymptotic approach. To find the explicit closed-form formulas for the zero-order term and the first-order correction term, we use Mellin transform. A resilient robot can recover its original function after partial damage of the system. This paper develops an underactuated resilient robot that utilizes a combination of passive joints, active joints, adjustable links, and passive links. A novel method based on the genetic algorithm was proposed to determine the goal configuration of a partially damaged robot. Flexible piezoresistive sensors built by printing nanoparticles onto soft substrates are crucial for continuous health monitoring and wearable devices. In this study, a mechanomyography (MMG) sensor was developed using a flexible piezoresistive MMG signal sensor based on a pyramidal polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS) microarray sprayed with carbon nanotubes (CNTs). The experiment was conducted, and the results show that the sensitivity of the sensor can reach 0.4 kPa−1 in the measurement range of 0~1.5 kPa, and the correlation reached 96%. This has further implications for the possibility that muscle activation can be converted into mechanical movement. The integrity of the sensor in terms of its MMG signal acquisition was tested based on five subjects who were performing arm bending and arm extending movements. The Tarim Basin, a significant region of coal-derived gas generation in China, has widely dispersed coal measure source rocks, especially in the Kuqa Depression. The typical coal measure strata from the Kuqa River and Kapushaliang River sections in the Kuqa Depression were systematically sampled. According to a conventional geochemical analysis (including materials and lithology), a total of 25 typical coal measure source rock samples were chosen for chromatography and chromatography–mass spectrometry examination. It was demonstrated that there were significant discrepancies in the coal source rock samples, particularly the coal rock from the Kuqa River section and the Kapushaliang River section. The specific performance of the Kuqa River section was characterized by a high Pr/Ph ratio (up to 9.29), a low gammacerane ratio, a low abundance of tricyclic terpane, and an "L"-type distribution of regular steranes, all of which are consistent with the properties of humic coal found in freshwater lakes that have undergone partial oxidation. The Kapushaliang River section, by contrast, exhibited a low Pr/Ph ratio (<1.0), a high gammacerane ratio, a concentration of tricyclic terpane comparable to that of hopane, and a distribution of regular steranes in a "V" shape, all of which indicate a strongly reduced saline water environment. Additionally, the degree of thermal evolution is not the key factor resulting in the above biomarker diversity within the CSRs, which was supported by the poor correlation between the maturity parameters (Ro%, Tmax °C), the sedimentary environment-related parameters (such as Pr/Ph and Ga/C31H), and the biogenic-related parameters (such as ∑tricyclic terpane/∑ hopane and ∑sterane/∑hopane). A comparative analysis suggested that transgression-related changes in the redox conditions and parent materials triggered the biomarker diversity within the CSRs, resulting in a large difference in the hydrocarbon-forming parent materials between the two abovementioned outcrop sections. These might provide some insight for hydrocarbon exploration from CSRs, which have been attracting increasing attention in China, with proven coal reserves are ranked first in the world. The exploration of topologically nontrivial states in condensed matter systems, along with their novel transport properties, has garnered significant research interest. This review aims to provide a comprehensive overview of representative topological phases, starting from the initial proposal of the quantum Hall insulator. We begin with a concise introduction, followed by a detailed examination of first-order topological quantum phases, including gapped and gapless systems, encompassing relevant materials and associated phenomena in experiment. Subsequently, we delve into the realm of exotic higher-order topological quantum phases, examining both theoretical propositions and experimental findings. Moreover, we discuss the mechanisms underlying the emergence of higher-order topology, as well as the challenges involved in experimentally verifying materials exhibiting such properties. Finally, we outline future research directions. This review not only systematically surveys various types of topological quantum states, spanning from first-order to higher-order, but also proposes potential approaches for realizing higher-order topological phases, thereby offering guidance for the detection of related quantum phenomena in experiments. Biofabrication is crucial in contemporary tissue engineering. The primary challenge in biofabrication lies in achieving simultaneous replication of both external organ geometries and internal structures. Particularly for organs with high oxygen demand, the incorporation of a vascular network, which is usually intricate, is crucial to enhance tissue viability, which is still a difficulty in current biofabrication technology. In this study, we address this problem by introducing an innovative three-dimensional (3D) printing strategy using a thermo-reversible supporting bath which can be easily removed by decreasing the temperature. This technology is capable of printing hydrated materials with diverse crosslinked mechanisms, encompassing gelatin, hyaluronate, Pluronic F-127, and alginate. Furthermore, the technology can replicate the external geometry of native tissues and organs from computed tomography data. The work also demonstrates the capability to print lines around 10 μm with a nozzle with a diameter of 60 μm due to the extra force exerted by the supporting bath, by which the line size was largely reduced, and this technique can be used to fabricate intricate capillary networks. This paper addresses the problem of relative position-based formation planning for a leader–follower multi-robot setup, where the robots adjust the formation parameters, such as size and three-dimensional orientation, to avoid collisions and progress toward their goal. Specifically, we develop a virtual sub-target-based obstacle avoidance method, which involves a transitional virtual sub-target that guides the robots to avoid obstacles according to obstacle information, target, and boundary. Moreover, we develop a changing formation strategy to determine the necessity to avoid collisions and a priority-based model to determine which robots move, thus dynamically adjusting the relative distance between the followers and the leader. The backstepping-based sliding motion controller guarantees that the trajectory and velocity tracking errors converge to zero. The proposed robot navigation method can be employed in various environments and types of obstacles, allowing for a formation change. Furthermore, it is efficient and scalable under various numbers of robots. The approach is experimentally verified using three real mobile robots and up to five mobile robots in simulated scenarios. Natural products provide an unparalleled diversity of small molecules to fuel drug screening efforts, but deconvoluting the pharmacological activity of natural product mixtures to identify key bioactive compounds remains a vexing and labor-intensive process. Therefore, we have developed a new platform to probe the non-specific pharmacological potential of compounds present in common dietary supplements via shotgun derivatization with isotopically labeled propanoic acid, a live cell affinity assay, which was used to selectively recognize the population of compounds which bind tightly to HeLa cells in culture, and a computational LC-MS data analysis of isotopically labeled compounds from cell lysate. The data analysis showed that hundreds of compounds were successfully derivatized in each extract, and dozens of those compounds showed high affinity for HeLa cells. In total, over a thousand isotopically labeled compounds were screened for cell affinity across three separate experiments, resulting in the identification of several known bioactive compounds with specific protein targets and six previously unreported structures. The new natural products include three tulsinol compounds which were isolated from Ocimum tenuiflorum and three valeraninium alkaloids from Valeriana officinalis. The valeraninium alkaloids constitute a distinct new family of alkaloids from valerian, which may have previously undescribed bioactivity. To comprehensively understand the volatile compounds and assess the aroma profiles of different types of Pyrus ussuriensis Maxim. Anli, Dongmili, Huagai, Jianbali, Jingbaili, Jinxiangshui, and Nanguoli were detected via headspace solid phase microextraction (HS-SPME) coupled with two-dimensional gas chromatography/time-of-flight mass spectrometry (GC×GC-TOFMS). The aroma composition, total aroma content, proportion and number of different aroma types, and the relative quantities of each compound were analyzed and evaluated. The results showed that 174 volatile aroma compounds were detected in various cultivars, mainly including esters, alcohols, aldehydes, and alkenes: Jinxiangshui had the highest total aroma content at 2825.59 ng/g; and Nanguoli had the highest number of aroma species detected at 108. The aroma composition and content varied among pear varieties, and the pears could be divided into three groups based on principal component analysis. Twenty-four kinds of aroma scents were detected; among them, fruit and aliphatic were the main fragrance types. The proportions of aroma types also varied among different varieties, visually and quantitatively displaying changes of the whole aroma of the different varieties of pears brought by the changes in aroma composition. The treatment of cancers is a significant challenge in the healthcare context today. Spreading circulating tumor cells (CTCs) throughout the body will eventually lead to cancer metastasis and produce new tumors near the healthy tissues. Therefore, separating these invading cells and extracting cues from them is extremely important for determining the rate of cancer progression inside the body and for the development of individualized treatments, especially at the beginning of the metastasis process. The continuous and fast separation of CTCs has recently been achieved using numerous separation techniques, some of which involve multiple high-level operational protocols. Although a simple blood test can detect the presence of CTCs in the blood circulation system, the detection is still restricted due to the scarcity and heterogeneity of CTCs. The development of more reliable and effective techniques is thus highly desired. The technology of microfluidic devices is promising among many other bio-chemical and bio-physical technologies. This paper reviews recent developments in the two types of microfluidic devices, which are based on the size and/or density of cells, for separating cancer cells. With the wide use of polyethylene film, the influence of polyethylene microplastic particles produced by its weathering on the rhizosphere soil microenvironment has attracted more and more attention from scientific research circles. In this study, the effects of low (0.2% w/w), medium (1% w/w), and high (2% w/w) doses of polyethylene particles and the combined reed biomass (2% w/w) on soil environmental factors and bacterial communities and metabolites in the reed rhizosphere were evaluated by a 90-day pot microscopic simulation system. The shape and surface microstructure of polyethylene particles in each treatment group changed obviously. A high (2% w/w) dose of microplastics significantly increased the TKN, TOC, and TP in reed root soil. The addition of the biomass significantly improved the activities of urease and sucrase in the soil. The α diversity of bacteria was not significantly affected by the addition of LDPE microplastics and biomass, but the β diversity of the bacterial community and the relative abundance of the Candidatus_Roku Bacteria, Chloroflexi, Unclassified_Blastocatella_Genus were significantly changed by the addition of middle (1% w/w) and high (2% w/w) doses of microplastics. In addition, the spectrum analysis of the soil metabolites showed that the abundance of soil metabolites was changed in each treatment group, and the differential metabolites were significantly up-regulated or down-regulated. Our findings provide a scientific reference to elucidate the impact of LDPE microplastic particles on the inter-rooted soil microenvironment and improve our understanding of the potential risks of microplastics in soil ecosystems. This paper presents a comprehensive review of the literature for fabricating PDMS microfluidic devices by employing additive manufacturing (AM) processes. AM processes for PDMS microfluidic devices are first classified into (i) the direct printing approach and (ii) the indirect printing approach. The scope of the review covers both approaches, though the focus is on the printed mold approach, which is a kind of the so-called replica mold approach or soft lithography approach. This approach is, in essence, casting PDMS materials with the mold which is printed. The paper also includes our on-going effort on the printed mold approach. The main contribution of this paper is the identification of knowledge gaps and elaboration of future work toward closing the knowledge gaps in fabrication of PDMS microfluidic devices. The second contribution is the development of a novel classification of AM processes from design thinking. There is also a contribution in clarifying confusion in the literature regarding the soft lithography technique; this classification has provided a consistent ontology in the sub-field of the fabrication of microfluidic devices involving AM processes. This paper presents the design of two predefined-time active fault-tolerant controllers for the trajectory tracking of autonomous underwater vehicles (AUVs) which can address actuator faults without causing actuator saturation. The first controller offers improved steady-state trajectory tracking precision, while the second ensures a nonsingular property. Firstly, a predefined-time sliding mode controller is formulated based on a predefined-time disturbance observer by integrating a novel predefined-time auxiliary system to prevent the control input from exceeding the actuator's physical limitations. Subsequently, a non-singular backstepping controller is introduced to circumvent potential singularities in the sliding mode controller, guaranteeing that the trajectory tracking error is uniformly ultimately bounded (UUB) within the predefined time. A continuous glucose monitoring (CGM) system is an ideal monitoring system for the blood glucose control of diabetic patients. The development of flexible glucose sensors with good glucose-responsive ability and high linearity within a large detection range is still challenging in the field of continuous glucose detection. A silver-doped Concanavalin A (Con A)-based hydrogel sensor is proposed to address the above issues. The proposed flexible enzyme-free glucose sensor was prepared by combining Con-A-based glucose-responsive hydrogels with green-synthetic silver particles on laser direct-writing graphene electrodes. The experimental results showed that in a glucose concentration range of 0–30 mM, the proposed sensor is capable of measuring the glucose level in a repeatable and reversible manner, showing a sensitivity of 150.12 Ω/mM with high linearity of R2 = 0.97. Due to its high performance and simple manufacturing process, the proposed glucose sensor is excellent among existing enzyme-free glucose sensors. Elongator complexes (ELPs) are the protein complexes that promote transcription through histone acetylation in eukaryotic cells and interact with elongating RNA polymerase II (RNAPII). ELPs' role in plant growth and development, signal transduction, and response to biotic and abiotic stresses have been confirmed in model plants. However, the functions of the wheat ELP genes are not well documented. The present study identified 18 members of the ELPs from the wheat genome with a homology search. Further, bioinformatics and transcription patterns in response to different stress conditions were analyzed to dissect their potential regulatory mechanisms in wheat. Gene duplication analysis showed that 18 pairs of ELP paralogous genes were derived from segmental duplication, which was divided into six clades by protein phylogenetic and cluster analysis. The orthologous analysis of wheat TaELP genes showed that TaELP genes may have evolved from orthologous genes of other plant species or closely related plants. Moreover, a variety of cis-acting regulatory elements (CAREs) related to growth and development, hormone response, and biotic and abiotic stresses were identified in the TaELPs' promoter regions. The qRT-PCR analysis showed that the transcription of TaELPs was induced under hormone, salt, and drought stress and during leaf senescence. The TaELP2 gene was silenced with BSMV-VIGS, and TaELP2 was preliminarily verified to be involved in the regulation of wheat leaf senescence. Overall, TaELP genes might be regulated by hormone signaling pathways and response to abiotic stress and leaf senescence, which could be investigated further as potential candidate genes for wheat abiotic stress tolerance and yield improvement. Polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS) is a widely used material for soft lithography and microfabrication. PDMS exhibits some promising properties suitable for building microfluidic devices; however, bonding PDMS to PDMS and PDMS to other materials for multilayer structures in microfluidic devices is still challenging due to the hydrophobic nature of the surface of PDMS. This paper presents a simple yet effective method to increase the bonding strength for PDMS-to-PDMS using isopropyl alcohol (IPA). The experiment was carried out to evaluate the bonding strength for both the natural-cured and the heat-cured PDMS layer. The results show the effectiveness of our approach in terms of the improved irreversible bonding strength, up to 3.060 MPa, for the natural-cured PDMS and 1.373 MPa for the heat-cured PDMS, while the best bonding strength with the existing method in literature is 1.9 MPa. The impact of El Niño–Southern Oscillation (ENSO) on the North Atlantic Oscillation (NAO) has been controversially discussed for several decades, which exhibits prominent seasonality and nonstationarity. During early winter, there appears a positive ENSO-NAO relationship, while this relationship reverses its sign in late winter. Here, we show that this subseasonal variation in the ENSO-NAO relationship could be attributed to the different mechanisms involved in early and late winters. In early winter, the positive linkage between the ENSO and NAO could be simply understood as resulting from the changes in tropical Walker circulation and the associated atmospheric meridional circulation over the North Atlantic. In the following late winter, an opposite NAO-like response appears as the large-scale Pacific–North Atlantic teleconnection pattern fully establishes and evident sea surface temperature anomalies occur over the North Tropical Atlantic (NTA). We further show that the phase shift in NAO during ENSO late winter is largely contributed by the establishment of the ENSO-associated NTA SST anomaly via its excited convection in the subtropical Atlantic. The competing roles of mechanisms explain the subseasonal variation in the ENSO-NAO relationship from early to late winter, providing useful information for seasonal prediction over the North Atlantic–European region. Featured Application: Electroporation-based techniques, e.g., tumor ablation, cardiac ablation, bacterial decontamination, gene electrotransfer, and electrochemotherapy. The electroporation technique utilizes pulsed electric fields to induce porous defects in the cell membrane, and the technique can be used for delivering drugs into cells and killing cancer cells. To develop an electric pulse protocol in the clinic with this technique, the key issue is to understand the evolution of pores in the cell membrane during the process of electroporation. This paper presents a study to address this issue. Specifically, a mathematical model of single-cell electroporation (SCE) was developed, which includes pore area ratio (PAR) as an indicator of the electroporation dynamics and area weight for considering the 3D nature of cells. The model was employed to simulate the electroporation of a single cell with different high-frequency irreversible electroporation (H-FIRE) protocols. The simulation result has found that the change of PAR with respect to the time duration of electroporation follows a sigmoid pattern to increase under specific protocols, which is called the cumulative effect of PAR. Subsequently, the relationship between the protocol of H-FIRE, described by a set of pulse parameters such as pulse width, pulse delay, electric field strength, and pulse burst duration, and the cumulative effect of PAR was established, which thereby allows designing the protocol to kill cells effectively. The study concluded that the proposed SCE model, along with the cumulative effect of PAR, is useful in designing H-FIRE protocols for the ablation of cancer tumors in the clinic. An autonomous ship refers to a ship that achieves autonomous operation in ship navigation, management, maintenance, cargo transportation and other aspects. Due to the uncertainty in the risks posed by autonomous ship navigation, its risk assessment attracts great attention from researchers. By analyzing the historical accident statistics, this paper gives a comprehensive analysis from the perspective of "Man-Ship-Environment-Management". In addition, a quantitative evaluation method based on the Entropy–TOPSIS–Coupling coordination model is proposed, which presents a comprehensive assessment of the risks of autonomous ship navigation safety. In the maritime industry, unsafe behaviors exhibited by crew members are a significant factor contributing to shipping and occupational accidents. Among these behaviors, unsafe operation of mooring lines is particularly prone to causing severe accidents. Video-based monitoring has been demonstrated as an effective means of detecting these unsafe behaviors in real time and providing early warning to crew members. To this end, this paper presents a dataset comprising videos of unsafe mooring line operations by crew members on the M.V. YuKun. Additionally, we propose an unsafe behavior recognition model based on the improved You Only Look Once (YOLO)-v4 network. Experimental results indicate that the proposed model, when compared to other models such as the original YOLO-v4 and YOLO-v3, demonstrates a significant improvement in recognition speed by approximately 35% while maintaining accuracy. Additionally, it also results in a reduction in computation burden. Furthermore, the proposed model was successfully applied to an actual ship test, which further verifies its effectiveness in recognizing unsafe mooring operation behaviors. Results of the actual ship test highlight that the proposed model's recognition accuracy is on par with that of the original YOLO-v4 network but shows an improvement in processing speed by 50% and a reduction in processing complexity by about 96%. Hence, this work demonstrates that the proposed dataset and improved YOLO-v4 network can effectively detect unsafe mooring operation behaviors and potentially enhance the safety of marine operations. Trehalose is a nonreducing disaccharide that is widely distributed in various organisms. Trehalose-6-phosphate synthase (TPS) is a critical enzyme responsible for the biosynthesis of trehalose, which serves important functions in growth and development, defense, and stress resistance. Although previous studies have found that the clubroot pathogen Plasmodiophora brassicae can lead to the accumulation of trehalose in infected Arabidopsis organs, it has been proposed that much of the accumulated trehalose is derived from the pathogen. At present, there is very little evidence to verify this view. In this study, a comprehensive analysis of the TPS gene family was conducted in Brassica rapa and Plasmodiophora brassicae. A total of 14 Brassica rapa TPS genes (BrTPSs) and 3 P. brassicae TPS genes (PbTPSs) were identified, and the evolutionary characteristics, functional classification, and expression patterns were analyzed. Fourteen BrTPS genes were classified into two distinct classes according to phylogeny and gene structure. Three PbTPSs showed no significant differences in gene structure and protein conserved motifs. However, evolutionary analysis showed that the PbTPS2 gene failed to cluster with PbTPS1 and PbTPS3. Furthermore, cis-acting elements related to growth and development, defense and stress responsiveness, and hormone responsiveness were predicted in the promoter region of the BrTPS genes. Expression analysis of most BrTPS genes at five stages after P. brassicae interaction found no significant induction. Instead, the expression of the PbTPS genes of P. brassicae was upregulated, which was consistent with the period of trehalose accumulation. This study deepens our understanding of the function and evolution of BrTPSs and PbTPSs. In this paper, we study the semi-supervised semantic segmentation problem via limited labeled samples and a large number of unlabeled samples. We propose a self-learning semi-supervised approach for the semantic segmentation of high-resolution remote sensing images. Our approach uses two networks (UNet and DeepLabV3) to predict the labels of the same unlabeled sample, and the pseudo labels samples with high prediction consistency are added to the training samples to improve the accuracy of semantic segmentation under the condition of limited labeled samples. Our method expands training data samples by using unlabeled data samples with pseudo labels. In order to verify the effectiveness of the proposed method, some experiments were conducted on the improved ISPRS Vaihingen 2D Semantic Labeling dataset using the method that we proposed. We focus on the extraction of forest and vegetation information and focus on the impact of a large number of unlabeled samples on the precision of semantic segmentation, we combine water, surface, buildings, cars, and background into one category and named others, and we call the changed dataset the improved ISPRS Vaihingen dataset. The experimental results show that the proposed method can effectively improve the semantic segmentation accuracy of high-scoring remote sensing images with limited samples than common deep semi-supervised learning. Temperature, depth, conductivity, and turbulence are fundamental parameters of marine dynamics in the field of ocean science. These closely correlated parameters require time-synchronized observations to provide feedback on marine environmental problems, which requires using sensors with synchronized power supply, multi-path data solving, recording, and storage performances. To address this challenge, this work proposes a hardware system capable of synchronously processing temperature, depth, conductivity, and turbulence data on marine dynamics collected by sensors. The proposed system uses constant voltage sources to excite temperature and turbulence sensors, a constant current source to drive a depth sensor, and an alternating current (AC) constant voltage source to drive a conductivity sensor. In addition, the proposed system uses a high-precision analog-digital converter to acquire the direct current (DC) signals from temperature, depth, and turbulence sensors, as well as the AC signals from conductivity sensors. Since the sampling frequency of turbulence sensors is different from that of the other sensors, the proposed system stores the generated data at different storage rates as multiple-files. Further, the proposed hardware system manages these files through a file system (file allocation tab) to reduce the data parsing difficulty. The proposed sensing and hardware logic system is verified and compared with the standard conductivity-temperature-depth measurement system in the National Center of Ocean Standards and Metrology. The results indicate that the proposed system achieved National Verification Level II Standard. In addition, the proposed system has a temperature indication error smaller than 0.02 °C, a conductivity error less than 0.073 mS/cm, and a pressure error lower than 0.8‰ FS. The turbulence sensor shows good response and consistency. Therefore, for observation methods based on a single point, single line, and single profile, it is necessary to study multi-parameter data synchronous acquisition and processing in the time and spatial domains to collect fundamental physical quantities of temperature, salt, depth, and turbulence. The four basic physical parameters collected by the proposed system are beneficial to the in-depth research on physical ocean motion, heat transfer, energy transfer, mass transfer, and heat-energy-mass coupling and can help to realize accurate simulation, inversion, and prediction of ocean phenomena. Continuous glucose monitoring (CGM) plays an important role in the treatment of diabetes. Affinity sensing based on the principle of reversible binding to glucose does not produce intermediates, and the specificity of concanavalin A (Con A) to glucose molecules helps to improve the anti-interference performance and long-term stability of CGM sensors. However, these affinity glucose sensors have some limitations in their linearity with a large detection range, and stable attachment of hydrogels to sensor electrodes is also challenging. In this study, a capacitive glucose sensor with high linearity and a wide detection range was proposed based on a glucose-responsive DexG–Con A hydrogel and a serpentine coplanar electrode made from a low-melting-point metal. The results show that within the glucose concentration range of 0–20 mM, the sensor can achieve high linearity (R2 = 0.94), with a sensitivity of 33.3 pF mM−1, and even with the larger glucose concentration range of 0–30 mM the sensor can achieve good linearity (R2 = 0.84). The sensor also shows resistance to disturbances of small molecules, good reversibility, and long-term stability. Due to its low cost, wide detection range, high linearity, good sensitivity, and biocompatibility, the sensor is expected to be used in the field of continuous monitoring of blood glucose. The ichthyofauna of continental islands is characterized by immigration through a land bridge due to fluctuating sea levels. Hainan Island is adjacent to the southern margin of mainland China and provides opportunities for understanding the origin and diversification of freshwater fishes. The aim of our study was to evaluate the level of genetic variation and phylogeographic structure of Opsariichthys hainanensis on Hainan Island and mainland China, using mtDNA cyt b gene (1140 bp) and D-loop (926 bp), nuclear RAG1 gene (1506 bp), and 12 microsatellite loci. Mitochondrial phylogenetic analysis identified five major lineages according to the geographical distribution from different populations. We suggested that two dispersal events occurred: the population in the Changhua River migrated to the Red River (Lineage B), and the populations in the South Hainan region moved northwards to the North Hainan region. However, populations in Northwest Hainan Island dispersed to the populations around the Gulf of Tonkin (Lineage A1) and populations in Northeast Hainan Island dispersed to the populations in mainland China (Lineage A2). Our results indicated that the populations of O. hainanensis suffered a bottleneck event followed by a recent population expansion supported by the ABC analysis. We suggest that O. hainanensis populations were found mostly in the lowlands and a lack of suitable freshwater habitat in southern mainland China and Hainan during the Last Interglacial period, and then expansion occurred during the Last Glacial Maximum. A woody debris jam around a bridge pier causes a change in flow structure and results in additional scour and an increase in the hydraulic head upstream of the pier, threatening its stability and safety. In the present paper, the spatio-temporal formation of a dynamic woody debris jam formed piece by piece of debris wood was used to investigate the influence of woody debris jams from a life-cycle perspective which included the processes of its formation, growth, failure, and rebirth. Several debris jams were formed in sequence during each experimental test. The results showed that the additional scour generated by the first woody debris jam compared with the scour depth without debris was a function of blockage ratio of the first debris jam, while the influence of the subsequent woody debris jams depended on their dimensions compared with the previous jam. When the subsequent debris jam's dimensions were larger than the previous one, the scour further increased; otherwise, the scour remained constant and equal to the previous one. Terrain aided navigation (TAN) technology can yield accurate navigation results in long-endurance underwater operation of autonomous underwater vehicles (AUVs). Most TAN research focus on the high-precision terrain matching algorithms. However, terrain matching algorithms estimate the position of the vehicle by observing a unique combination of features in the terrain, making it difficult to locate a vehicle with flat terrain. This paper presents a path planning method for AUV seabed TAN process to decrease positioning errors by avoiding flat areas. In this paper, a TAN path planning algorithm based on sector search is proposed. Parameters of the sector search algorithm are determined through theoretical analysis, which means the generated path can stably provide accurate TAN location results. Meanwhile, a control coefficient is proposed to maximize the terrain information contained in the sector searching area, bring out a high success rate of AUV positioning. The TAN performance of the paths generated using the proposed path planning method was verified in simulations, which show that the TAN can yield accurate positioning results stably on the path planned. The decoction turns into a complex multiphase system following exposure to high temperature and a complex chemical environment. However, the differences in the concentration of key active ingredients in different phase states and the release of drugs in sedimentary phase have yet to be elucidated. A simple ultra-performance liquid chromatography–tandem mass spectrometry (UPLC-MS/MS) method was developed and validated for the simultaneous quantitative determination of brucine, strychnine, liquiritin, isoliquiritin, isoliquiritigenin and glycyrrhizic acid concentrations and it was applied to compare the content of different phases and measure the release characteristics of the sedimentary phase in "Glycyrrhiza glabra-Nux vomica" decoction (NGD). The results show that the method's selectivity, precision (intraday and interday ≤ 2%), matrix effect (101–108%), recovery and stability results were acceptable according to the guidelines. The method is sensitive and reliable. The content determination results show that the most toxic strychnine in the sedimentary phase accounted for 75.70% of the total components. The different components exhibited differential release in different media, and its components were released in the artificial intestinal fluid up to 81.02% in 12 h. Several components conformed to the primary kinetic model and the Ritger–Peppas model, and the most toxic compound exhibited slow release, thus conforming to the Ritger–Peppas model. This study provides a standard of reference for studies investigating reduction in toxicity of the combination of Glycyrrhiza glabra (Glycyrrhiza glabra L.) and Nux vomica (Strychnos nux-vomica L.). Prostate cancer (PCa) is the most common malignant tumor of the male urinary system in Europe and America. According to the data in the World Cancer Report 2020, the incidence rate of PCa ranks second in the prevalence of male malignant tumors and varies worldwide between regions and population groups. Although early PCa can achieve good therapeutic results after surgical treatment, due to advanced PCa, it can adapt and tolerate androgen castration-related drugs through a variety of mechanisms. For this reason, it is often difficult to achieve effective therapeutic results in the treatment of advanced PCa. Tanshinone is a new fat-soluble phenanthraquinone compound derived from Salvia miltiorrhiza that can play a therapeutic role in different cancers, including PCa. Several studies have shown that Tanshinone can target various molecular pathways of PCa, including the signal transducer and activator of transcription 3 (STAT3) pathway, androgen receptor (AR) pathway, phosphatidylinositol-3-kinase (PI3K)/protein kinase B (Akt)/mammalian target of rapamycin (mTOR) pathway, and mitogen-activated protein kinase (MAPK) pathway, which will affect the release of pro-inflammatory cytokines and affect cell proliferation, apoptosis, tumor metabolism, genomic stability, and tumor drug resistance. Thus, the occurrence and development of PCa cells are inhibited. In this review, we summarized the in vivo and in vitro evidence of Tanshinone against prostate cancer and discussed the effect of Tanshinone on nuclear factor kappa-B (NF-κB), AR, and mTOR. At the same time, we conducted a network pharmacology analysis on the four main components of Tanshinone to further screen the possible targets of Tanshinone against prostate cancer and provide ideas for future research. Lu'an Guapian tea is produced through the processing of only leaves, with the stems and buds discarded, but stems constitute a large proportion of the tea harvest. To test the usability of tea stems, we compared the physicochemical properties of tea leaves and stems from the same growth period as well as the taste of their infusions. The leaves contained higher concentrations of polyphenols and caffeine and had a stronger taste. The tea stems contained higher concentrations of free amino acids and soluble sugars and were richer in umami and sweet flavors. In addition, more tender tea stems had higher concentrations of polyphenols, caffeine, and free amino acids, and their infusions had more refreshing and sweeter tastes. Furthermore, crude fiber content increased as stem tenderness decreased. In summary, tea stems are rich in phytochemical components and flavor, and these properties increased with tenderness. In this work, phosphate tailings (PTs) were used as raw materials for the preparation of Ca-Mg-Al layered double hydroxides (LDHs-1) and Ca-Mg-Al-Fe layered double hydroxides (LDHs-2) by co-precipitation method. The as-prepared samples were characterized by FT-IR, SEM, XRD, and XPS and applied as a flame retardant to improve the fire safety of epoxy resin (EP). The results showed that both LDHs-1 and LDHs-2 exhibited layered structure and high crystallinity. Compared with neat EP, the value of limiting oxygen index (LOI) increased from 25.8 to 29.3 and 29.9 with 8 wt% content of LDHs-1 and LDHs-2, respectively. The flame retardant properties of the composite material were characterized by cone calorimeter (CC), and the results showed that the peak value of the smoke production rate (SPR) decreased more than 45% and 74%, total smoke production (TSP) reduced nearly 64% and 85% with the addition of LDHs-1 and LDHs-2. Meanwhile, the value of the total heat release (THR) reduced more than 28% and 63%. The conversion from LDHs to layered double oxide (LDO) might be conducive to the fire safety of EP. Moreover, the transformation of Fe-OH to Fe-O could promote the early cross-linking of polymer. This work proposes a design for a direct-reading conductivity sensor with a parallel symmetrical four-electrode structure, which integrates a silicon-based platinum thin-film strip electrode and a serpentine temperature compensation electrode. The optimal structural parameters of the electrode were determined by finite element simulations performed via COMSOL Multiphysics. Next, the designed conductivity sensor chip was fabricated using MEMS technology, and subsequently, the conductivity measurement circuit was designed to test the fabricated sensor's performance. In laboratory tests, the optimal AC excitation frequency was observed to be 1.067 kHz, while the maximum measurement range was 0–107.41 mS/cm and the measurement precision in low concentration range (0–76.422 mS/cm) was ±0.1 mS/cm. Furthermore, the maximum measurement error of the sensor evaluated using the National Center of Ocean Standards and Metrology was ±0.073 mS/cm. The designed sensor possesses the characteristics of high accuracy, high range, and miniaturization, and enables real-time reading of conductivity value and temperature compensation, which is of great significance for the on-site observation of the physical parameters of marine environment. Microelectromechanical system (MEMS) pressure sensors have a wide range of applications based on the advantages of mature technology and easy integration. Among them, piezoresistive sensors have attracted great attention with the advantage of simple back-end processing circuits. However, less research has been reported on the performance of piezoresistive pressure sensors in dynamic environments, especially considering the vibrations and shocks frequently encountered during the application of the sensors. To address these issues, this paper proposes a design method for a MEMS piezoresistive pressure sensor, and the fabricated sensor is evaluated in a series of systematic dynamic environmental adaptability tests. After testing, the output sensitivity of the sensor chip was 9.21 mV∙bar−1, while the nonlinearity was 0.069% FSS. The sensor overreacts to rapidly changing pressure environments and can withstand acceleration shocks of up to 20× g. In addition, the sensor is capable of providing normal output over the vibration frequency range of 0–5000 Hz with a temperature coefficient sensitivity of −0.30% FSS °C−1 over the temperature range of 0–80 °C. Our proposed sensor can play a key role in applications with wide pressure ranges, high-frequency vibrations, and high acceleration shocks, as well as guide MEMS-based pressure sensors in high pressure ranges and complex environmental adaptability in their design. Two new phenylhydrazone derivatives and one new alkaloid, penzonemycins A–B (1–2) and demethylmycemycin A (3), together with three known compounds including an alkaloid (4) and two sesquiterpenoids (5–6), were isolated from the Streptomyces sp. SCSIO 40020 obtained from the Pearl River Estuary sediment. Their structures and absolute configurations were assigned by 1D/2D NMR, mass spectroscopy and X-ray crystallography. Compound 1 was evaluated in four human cancer cell lines by the SRB method and displayed weak cytotoxicity in three cancer cell lines, with IC50 values that ranged from 30.44 to 61.92 µM, which were comparable to those of the positive control cisplatin. Bioinformatic analysis of the putative biosynthetic gene cluster indicated a Japp–Klingemann coupling reaction involved in the hydrazone formation of 1 and 2. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The seismic behavior of the anchor joint in shield-driven tunnel is very difficult to determine with the conventional methods due to the extensive simplifications. This paper proposed an improved approach to investigate the seismic response of the anchor joint, considering both the soil-structure-interaction effect and the actual geometric features. Two three-dimensional numerical models were established, including the soil-tunnel system and the refined model of the anchor joint. A seismic analysis study was first conducted on the soil-tunnel model under different seismic input waves to obtain the responses of the joint opening and offset. Then, these results were imposed on the refined model of anchor joint to further examine its detailed performance under seismic excitations. The joint opening and offset under earthquake excitations from different directions were discussed. The distribution characteristics of the stress of the anchor joint were interpreted. Finally, safety evaluations on the anchor joint were executed based on the overall seismic responses. The results show that the maximum opening and offset of the anchor joint under the two-directional horizontal earthquake are greater than those under the unidirectional conditions, while different deformation trends are observed for the joints at distinct locations. The maximum opening of the anchor joint can reach 0.73 mm, whereas the peak offset is only 0.35 mm. The local plastic strain of the anchor joint increases under the seismic action, but all of the joints are still kept in the safe state under the most unfavorable conditions. The developed method in this paper can also be accessed by the seismic study on other types of joints with complex structural components in shield tunnels. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
