Abstract

The article focuses on the order signed by President Viktor Yushchenko on creating a working group that will prepare draft laws on preventing cases of dual citizenship in Ukraine. It notes that it was a response to the introduction of a Russian identification (ID) card for citizens of Ukraine initiated by Russian State Duma deputies. It specifies that this measure is directed against holders of Russian passports.

Abstract

The article reports on issues related to the permanent residence of people who hold Russian passports in Ukraine. It is believed that these people will become a pretext for Russian military intervention. An investigation into the situation surrounding Ukrainian citizens who have dual citizenship has been conducted by the Ukrainian security service. Issues related to the procedure for obtaining Russian Federation citizenship are discussed.
