If $X$ is a quasi Banach space containing no copy of $c_0$ which is isomorphic to a closed subspace of a space with a basis and $C(I, X)$ is linearly homeomorphic to $C(\Delta, X)$, then $X$ is locally convex, i.e., a Banach space. It is shown that Kalton result is sharp by exhibiting non locally convex quasi Banach spaces X with a basis for which $C(I, X)$ and $C(\Delta, X)$ are isomorphic. One of the simplest examples of a robust heteroclinic cycle involves three saddle equilibria: each one is unstable to the next in turn, and connections from one to the next occur within invariant subspaces. Such a situation can be described by a third-order ordinary differential equation (ODE), and typical trajectories approach each equilibrium point in turn, spending progressively longer to cycle around the three points but never stopping. This cycle has been invoked as a model of cyclic competition between populations adopting three strategies, characterised as Rock, Paper and Scissors. When spatial distribution and mobility of the populations is taken into account, waves of Rock can invade regions of Scissors, only to be invaded by Paper in turn. The dynamics is described by a set of partial differential equations (PDEs) that has travelling wave (in one dimension) and spiral (in two dimensions) solutions. In this paper, we explore how the robust heteroclinic cycle in the ODE manifests itself in the PDEs. Taking the wavespeed as a parameter, and moving into a travelling frame, the PDEs reduce to a sixth-order set of ODEs, in which travelling waves are created in a Hopf bifurcation and are destroyed in three different heteroclinic bifurcations, depending on parameters, as the travelling wave approaches the heteroclinic cycle. We explore the three different heteroclinic bifurcations, none of which have been observed in the context of robust heteroclinic cycles previously. These results are an important step towards a full understanding of the spiral patterns found in two dimensions, with possible application to travelling waves and spirals in other population dynamics models., Comment: 36 pages, 8 figures

While 3-SAT is NP-hard, 2-SAT is solvable in polynomial time. Austrin, Guruswami, and H\r{a}stad roved a result known as "$(2+\varepsilon)$-SAT is NP-hard" [FOCS'14/SICOMP'17]. They showed that the problem of distinguishing k-CNF formulas that are g-satisfiable (i.e. some assignment satisfies at least g literals in every clause) from those that are not even 1-satisfiable is NP-hard if $\frac{g}{k} < \frac{1}{2}$ and is in P otherwise. We study a generalisation of SAT on arbitrary finite domains, with clauses that are disjunctions of unary constraints, and establish analogous behaviour. Thus we give a dichotomy for a natural fragment of promise constraint satisfaction problems (PCSPs) on arbitrary finite domains. The hardness side is proved using the algebraic approach, via a new general NP-hardness criterion on polymorphisms of the problem, based on a gap version of the Layered Label Cover problem. We describe a method to construct smooth and compactly supported solutions of 3D incompressible Euler equations and related models. The method is based on localizable Grad–Shafranov equations and is inspired by the recent result (Gavrilov in A steady Euler flow with compact support. Geom Funct Anal 29(1):90–197, [Gav19]).

We characterize functions of finite energy in the plane in terms of their traces on the lines that make up "graph paper" with squares of side length $mn$ for all $n$, and certain $\12-$order Sobolev norms on the graph paper lines. We also obtain analogous results for functions of finite energy on two classical fractals: the Sierpinski gasket and the Sierpinski carpet.

Automatic summarisation is a popular approach to reduce a document to its main arguments. Recent research in the area has focused on neural approaches to summarisation, which can be very data-hungry. However, few large datasets exist and none for the traditionally popular domain of scientific publications, which opens up challenging research avenues centered on encoding large, complex documents. In this paper, we introduce a new dataset for summarisation of computer science publications by exploiting a large resource of author provided summaries and show straightforward ways of extending it further. We develop models on the dataset making use of both neural sentence encoding and traditionally used summarisation features and show that models which encode sentences as well as their local and global context perform best, significantly outperforming well-established baseline methods., Comment: 11 pages, 6 figures

We show that bounded self-contracted curves are rectifiable in metric spaces with weak lower curvature bound in a sense we introduce in this article. This class of spaces is wide and includes, for example, finite-dimensional Alexandrov spaces of curvature bounded below and Berwald spaces of nonnegative flag curvature. (To be more precise, our condition is regarded as a strengthened doubling condition and holds also for a certain class of metric spaces with upper curvature bound.) We also provide the non-embeddability of large snowflakes into (balls in) metric spaces in the same class. We follow the strategy of the last author's previous paper based on the small rough angle condition, where spaces with upper curvature bound are considered. Funder: John Simon Guggenheim Memorial Foundation; doi: https://doi.org/10.13039/100005851, In this work we study the global solvability of the primitive equations for the atmosphere coupled to moisture dynamics with phase changes for warm clouds, where water is present in the form of water vapor and in the liquid state as cloud water and rain water. This moisture model contains closures for the phase changes condensation and evaporation, as well as the processes of auto conversion of cloud water into rainwater and the collection of cloud water by the falling rain droplets. It has been used by Klein and Majda in [17] and corresponds to a basic form of the bulk microphysics closure in the spirit of Kessler [16] and Grabowski and Smolarkiewicz [12]. The moisture balances are strongly coupled to the thermodynamic equation via the latent heat associated to the phase changes. In [14] we assumed the velocity field to be given and proved rigorously the global existence and uniqueness of uniformly bounded solutions of the moisture balances coupled to the thermodynamic equation. In this paper we present the solvability of a full moist atmospheric flow model, where the moisture model is coupled to the primitive equations of atmospherical dynamics governing the velocity field. For the derivation of a priori estimates for the velocity field we thereby use the ideas of Cao and Titi [6], who succeeded in proving the global solvability of the primitive equations.

The sample paths of white noise are proved to be elements of certain Besov spaces with dominating mixed smoothness. Unlike in isotropic spaces, here the regularity does not get worse with increasing space dimension. Consequently, white noise is actually much smoother than the known sharp regularity results in isotropic spaces suggest. An application of our techniques yields new results for the regularity of solutions of Poisson and heat equation on the half space with boundary noise. In this short note we show that non-negative Ricci curvature is not preserved under Ricci flow for closed manifolds of dimensions four and above, strengthening a previous result of Knopf in \cite{K} for complete non-compact manifolds of bounded curvature. This brings down to four dimensions a similar result B\"ohm and Wilking have for dimensions twelve and above, \cite{BW}. In the theory of coalgebras, trace semantics can be defined in various distinct ways, including through algebraic logics, the Kleisli category of a monad or its Eilenberg–Moore category. This paper elaborates two new unifying ideas: (i) coalgebraic,draftrules trace semantics is naturally presented in terms of corecursive algebras, and (ii) all three approaches arise as instances of the same abstract setting. Our perspective puts the different approaches under a common roof and allows to derive conditions under which some of them coincide.

We consider 2- or 3-dimensional incompressible Navier-Stokes equations defined on a bounded domain $\Omega$, with no-slip boundary conditions and subject to an external force, assumed to cause instability. We then seek to uniformly stabilize such N-S system, in the vicinity of an unstable equilibrium solution, in critical $L^q$-based Sobolev and Besov spaces, by finite dimensional feedback controls. These spaces are `close' to $L^3(\Omega)$ for $d=3$. This functional setting is significant. In fact, in the case of the uncontrolled N-S dynamics, extensive research efforts have recently lead to the space $L^3(\mathbb{R}^3)$ as being a critical space for the issue of well-posedness in the full space. Thus, our present work manages to solve the stated uniform stabilization problem for the controlled N-S dynamics in a correspondingly related function space setting. In this paper, the feedback controls are localized on an arbitrarily small open interior subdomain $\omega$ of $\Omega$. In addition to providing a solution of the uniform stabilization problem in such critical function space setting, this paper manages also to much improve and simplify, at both the conceptual and computational level, the solution given in the more restrictive Hilbert space setting in the literature. Moreover, such treatment sets the foundation for the authors' final goal in a subsequent paper. We propose a model-based approach to the model checking problem for recursive schemes. Since simply typed lambda calculus with the fixpoint operator, lambda-Y-calculus, is equivalent to schemes, we propose the use of a model of lambda-Y-calculus to discriminate the terms that satisfy a given property. If a model is finite in every type, this gives a decision procedure. We provide a construction of such a model for every property expressed by automata with trivial acceptance conditions and divergence testing. Such properties pose already interesting challenges for model construction. Moreover, we argue that having models capturing some class of properties has several other virtues in addition to providing decidability of the model-checking problem. PurposeThe goal of this paper is to give a comprehensive and short review on how to compute the first- and second-order topological derivatives and potentially higher-order topological derivatives for partial differential equation (PDE) constrained shape functionals.Design/methodology/approachThe authors employ the adjoint and averaged adjoint variable within the Lagrangian framework and compare three different adjoint-based methods to compute higher-order topological derivatives. To illustrate the methodology proposed in this paper, the authors then apply the methods to a linear elasticity model.FindingsThe authors compute the first- and second-order topological derivatives of the linear elasticity model for various shape functionals in dimension two and three using Amstutz' method, the averaged adjoint method and Delfour's method.Originality/valueIn contrast to other contributions regarding this subject, the authors not only compute the first- and second-order topological derivatives, but additionally give some insight on various methods and compare their applicability and efficiency with respect to the underlying problem formulation.

In 1981, Foias, Guillop\'e and Temam proved a priori estimates for arbitrary-order space derivatives of solutions to the Navier-Stokes equation. Such bounds are instructive in the numerical investigation of intermittency often observed in simulations, e.g., numerical study of vorticity moments by Donzis et al. (2013) revealed depletion of nonlinearity that may be responsible for smoothness of solutions to the Navier-Stokes equation. We employ an original method to derive analogous estimates for space derivatives of three-dimensional space-periodic weak solutions to the evolutionary equations of diffusive magnetohydrodynamics. Construction relies on space analyticity of the solutions at almost all times. An auxiliary problem is introduced, and a Sobolev norm of its solutions bounds from below the size in $C^3$ of the region of space analyticity of the solutions to the original problem. We recover the exponents obtained earlier for the hydrodynamic problem. The same approach is also followed here to derive and prove similar a priori bounds for arbitrary-order space derivatives of the first-order time derivative of the weak MHD solutions. A famous conjecture of Parkin-Shanks predicts that $p(n)$ is odd with density $1/2$. Despite the remarkable amount of work of the last several decades, however, even showing this density is positive seems out of reach. In a 2018 paper with Judge, we introduced a different approach and conjectured the "striking" fact that, if for any $A \equiv \pm 1\ (\bmod 6)$ the multipartition function $p_A(n)$ has positive odd density, then so does $p(n)$. Similarly, the positive odd density of any $p_{A}(n)$ with $A\equiv 3\ (\bmod 6)$ would imply that of $p_3(n)$. Our conjecture was shown to be a corollary of an earlier conjecture of the same paper. Consider a bounded strongly pseudo-convex domain $\Omega $ with a smooth boundary in $\mathbb{C}^n$. Let $\mathcal{T}$ be the Toeplitz algebra on the Bergman space $L^2_a(\Omega )$. This paper deals with the polynomial linear system solving with errors (PLSwE) problem. Specifically, we focus on the evaluation-interpolation technique for solving polynomial linear systems and we assume that errors can occur in the evaluation step. In this framework, the number of evaluations needed to recover the solution of the linear system is crucial since it affects the number of computations. It depends on the parameters of the linear system (degrees, size) and on a bound on the number of errors. Our work is part of a series of papers about PLSwE aiming to reduce this number of evaluations. We proved in [Guerrini et al., Proc. ISIT'19] that if errors are randomly distributed, the bound of the number of evaluations can be lowered for large error rate. In this paper, following the approach of [Kaltofen et al., Proc. ISSAC'17], we improve the results of [Guerrini et al., Proc. ISIT'19] in two directions. First, we propose a new bound of the number of evaluations, lowering the dependency on the parameters of the linear system, based on work of [Cabay, Proc. SYMSAC'71]. Second, we introduce an early termination strategy in order to handle the unnecessary increase of the number of evaluations due to overestimation of the parameters of the system and on the bound on the number of errors.

The aim of this paper is to show time-decay estimates of solutions to linearized two-phase Navier-Stokes equations with surface tension and gravity. The original two-phase Navier-Stokes equations describe the two-phase incompressible viscous flow with a sharp interface that is close to the hyperplane xN=0 in the N-dimensional Euclidean space, N≥2. It is well-known that the Rayleigh–Taylor instability occurs when the upper fluid is heavier than the lower one, while this paper assumes that the lower fluid is heavier than the upper one and proves time-decay estimates of Lp-Lq type for the linearized equations. Our approach is based on solution formulas for a resolvent problem associated with the linearized equations.

In this paper, we advance an ideal-theoretic analogue of a "finite factorization domain" (FFD), giving such a domain the moniker "finite molecularization domain" (FMD). We characterize FMD's as those factorable domains (termed "molecular domains" in the paper) for which every nonzero ideal is divisible by only finitely many nonfactorable ideals (termed "molecules" in the paper) and the monoid of nonzero ideals of the domain is unit-cancellative, in the language of Fan, Geroldinger, Kainrath, and Tringali. We develop a number of connections, particularly at the local level, amongst the concepts of "FMD", "FFD", and the "finite superideal domains" (FSD's) of Hetzel and Lawson. Characterizations of when $k[X^2, X^3]$, where $k$ is a field, and the classical $D+M$ construction are FMD's are provided. We also demonstrate that if $R$ is a Dedekind domain with the finite norm property, then $R[X]$ is an FMD.

Sesqui-pushout (SqPO) rewriting along non-linear rules and for monic matches is well-known to permit the modeling of fusing and cloning of vertices and edges, yet to date, no construction of a suitable concurrency theorem was available. The lack of such a theorem, in turn, rendered compositional reasoning for such rewriting systems largely infeasible. We develop in this paper a suitable concurrency theorem for non-linear SqPO-rewriting in categories that are quasi-topoi (subsuming the example of adhesive categories) and with matches required to be regular monomorphisms of the given category. Our construction reveals an interesting "backpropagation effect" in computing rule compositions. We derive in addition a concurrency theorem for non-linear double pushout (DPO) rewriting in rm-adhesive categories. In this paper we give a prescription for the construction of a general rational tetra-inner function of degree $n$. The prescription exploits a known construction of the finite Blaschke products of given degree which satisfy some interpolation conditions with the aid of a Pick matrix formed from the interpolation data. It is known that if $x= (x_1, x_2, x_3)$ is a rational tetra-inner function of degree $n$, then $x_1 x_2 - x_3$ either is identically $0$ or has precisely $n$ zeros in the closed unit disc $\overline{\mathbb{D}}$, counted with multiplicity. This paper investigates the output feedback boundary control of reaction-diffusion equations with either distributed or boundary measurement by means of a finite-dimensional observer. A constructive method dealing with the design of finite-dimensional observers for the feedback stabilization of reaction-diffusion equations was reported in a recent paper in the case where either the control or the observation operator is bounded and also satisfies certain regularity assumptions. In this paper, we go beyond by demonstrating that a finite-dimensional state-feedback combined with a finite-dimensional observer can always be successfully designed in order to achieve the Dirichlet boundary stabilization of reaction-diffusion PDEs with a either Dirichlet or Neumann boundary measurement., Comment: Accepted for publication in Automatica

Let G be a locally compact group and H be a compact subgroup of G. It is shown that $$L^p_\xi (G,H)$$ L ξ p ( G , H ) is isometrically isomorphic to a quotient space of $$L^p(G)$$ L p ( G ) . It is also proven that $$L^q_\xi (G,H)$$ L ξ q ( G , H ) is isometrically isomorphic to the dual space $$L^p_\xi (G,H)^*$$ L ξ p ( G , H ) ∗ , where q is the conjugate exponent of p. Transcription and translation retrieve and operationalize gene encoded information in cells. These processes are not instantaneous and incur significant delays. In this paper we study Goodwin models of both inducible and repressible operons with state-dependent delays. The paper provides justification and derivation of the model, detailed analysis of the appropriate setting of the corresponding dynamical system, and extensive numerical analysis of its dynamics. Comparison with constant delay models shows significant differences in dynamics that include existence of stable periodic orbits in inducible systems and multistability in repressible systems. A combination of parameter space exploration, numerics, analysis of steady state linearization and bifurcation theory indicates the likely presence of Shilnikov-type homoclinic bifurcations in the repressible operon model.

In this paper we study evolutive first order Mean Field Games in the Heisenberg group; each agent can move in the whole space but it has to follow "horizontal" trajectories which are given in terms of the vector fields generating the group and the kinetic part of the cost depends only on the horizontal velocity. The Hamiltonian is not coercive in the gradient term and the coefficients of the first order term in the continuity equation may have a quadratic growth at infinity. The main results of this paper are two: the former is to establish the existence of a weak solution to the Mean Field Game systems while the latter is to represent this solution following the Lagrangian formulation of the Mean Field Games. This paper studies the problem of linear precoding for multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) communication channels employing finite-alphabet signaling. Existing solutions typically suffer from high computational complexity due to costly computations of the constellation-constrained mutual information. In contrast to existing works, this paper takes a different path of tackling the MIMO precoding problem. Namely, a data-driven approach, based on deep learning, is proposed. In the offline training phase, a deep neural network learns the optimal solution on a set of MIMO channel matrices. This allows the reduction of the computational complexity of the precoder optimization in the online inference phase. Numerical results demonstrate the efficiency of the proposed solution vis-\`a-vis existing precoding algorithms in terms of significantly reduced complexity and close-to-optimal performance., Comment: Published in Physical Communication, 4 pages, 1 figure, 1 table

In this paper, the steady creeping flow equations of a second grade fluid in cartesian coordinates are considered; the equations involve a small parameter related to the dimensionless non--Newtonian coefficient. According to a recently introduced approach, the first order approximate Lie symmetries of the equations are computed, some classes of approximately invariant solutions are explicitly determined, and a boundary value problem is analyzed. The paper provides a tableau approach to definite descriptions. We focus on several formalizations of the so-called minimal free description theory (MFD) usually formulated axiomatically in the setting of free logic. We consider five analytic tableau systems corresponding to different kinds of free logic, including the logic of definedness applied in computer science and constructive mathematics for dealing with partial functions (here called negative quasi-free logic). The tableau systems formalise MFD based on PFL (positive free logic), NFL (negative free logic), PQFL and NQFL (the quasi-free counterparts of the former ones). Also the logic NQFLm is taken into account, which is equivalent to NQFL, but whose language does not comprise the existence predicate. In the paper we compute the virtual dimension (defined by the Hilbert polynomial) of a space of hypersurfaces of given degree containing $s$ codimension 2 general linear subspaces in $\mathbb{P}^n$. We use Veneroni maps to find a family of unexpected hypersurfaces (in the style of B. Harbourne, J. Migliore, U. Nagel, Z. Several results in the existing literature establish Euclidean density theorems of the following strong type. These results claim that every set of positive upper Banach density in the Euclidean space of an appropriate dimension contains isometric copies of all sufficiently large elements of a prescribed family of finite point configurations. So far, all results of this type discussed linear isotropic dilates of a fixed point configuration. In this paper we initiate the study of analogous density theorems for families of point configurations generated by anisotropic dilations, i.e., families with power-type dependence on a single parameter interpreted as their size. More specifically, here we prove nonisotropic power-type generalizations of a result by Bourgain on vertices of a simplex, a result by Lyall and Magyar on vertices of a rectangular box, and a result on distance trees, which is a particular case of the treatise of distance graphs by Lyall and Magyar. Another source of motivation for this paper is providing additional evidence for the versatility of the approach stemming from the work of Cook, Magyar, and Pramanik and its modification used recently by Durcik and the present author. Let $Q$ denote MacLane's $Q$-construction, and $\otimes$ denote the smash product of spectra. In this paper we construct an equivalence $Q(R)\simeq \mathbb Z\otimes R$ in the category of $A_\infty$ ring spectra for any ring $R$, thus proving a conjecture made by Fiedorowicz, Schw\"anzl, Vogt and Waldhausen in "MacLane homology and topological Hochschild homology". More precisely, we construct is a symmetric monoidal structure on $Q$ (in the $\infty$-categorical sense) extending the usual monoidal structure, for which we prove an equivalence $Q(-)\simeq \mathbb Z\otimes -$ as symmetric monoidal functors, from which the conjecture follows immediately. From this result, we obtain a new proof of the equivalence $\mathrm{HML}(R,M)\simeq \mathrm{THH}(R,M)$ originally proved by Pirashvili and Waldaushen in "MacLane homology and topological Hochschild homology" (a different paper from the one cited above). This equivalence is in fact made symmetric monoidal, and so it also provides a proof of the equivalence $\mathrm{HML}(R)\simeq \mathrm{THH}(R)$ as $E_\infty$ ring spectra, when $R$ is a commutative ring., Comment: 26 pages

We study the asymptotic distribution of CM points on the moduli space of elliptic curves over $\mathbb{C}_p$, as the discriminant of the underlying endomorphism ring varies. In contrast with the complex case, we show that there is no uniform distribution. In this paper we characterize all the sequences of discriminants for which the corresponding CM points converge towards the Gauss point of the Berkovich affine line. We also give an analogous characterization for Hecke orbits. In 1900, at the international congress of mathematicians, Hilbert claimed that the Riemann zeta function $\zeta(s)$ is not the solution of any algebraic ordinary differential equations on its region of analyticity. In 2015, Van Gorder considered the question of whether $\zeta(s)$ satisfies a non-algebraic differential equation and showed that it formally satisfies an infinite order linear differential equation. Recently, Prado and Klinger-Logan extended Van Gorder's result to show that the Hurwitz zeta function $\zeta(s,a)$ is also formally satisfies a similar differential equation \begin{equation*}\label{HurDE} T\left[\zeta (s,a) - \frac{1}{a^s}\right] = \frac{1}{(s-1)a^{s-1}}. \end{equation*} But unfortunately in the same paper they proved that the operator $T$ applied to Hurwitz zeta function $\zeta(s,a)$ does not converge at any point in the complex plane $\mathbb{C}$. In this paper we investigate the property (HLUR), a generalisation of (LUR) property of a Banach space. A Banach space having the property (HLUR) is called an HLUR space. We characterise (HLUR) property with the help of known geometric properties and study various properties of HLUR spaces. We show that for any finite dimensional Banach space, the property (HLUR) coincides with anti-Daugavet property of the space. Let $\mathcal G$ denote the space of finitely generated marked groups. We give equivalent characterizations of closed subspaces $\mathcal S\subseteq \mathcal G$ satisfying the following zero-one law: for any sentence $\sigma$ in the infinitary logic $\mathcal L_{\omega_1, \omega}$, the set of all models of $\sigma$ in $\mathcal S$ is either meager or comeager. In particular, we show that the zero-one law holds for certain natural spaces associated to hyperbolic groups and their generalizations. As an application, we obtain that generic torsion-free lacunary hyperbolic groups are elementarily equivalent; the same claim holds for lacunary hyperbolic groups without non-trivial finite normal subgroups. In a paper of Kedlaya and Medvedovsky [KM19] , the number of distinct dihedral mod 2 modular representations of prime level N was calculated, and a conjecture on the dimension of the space of level N weight 2 modular forms giving rise to each representation was stated. In this paper we prove this conjecture.

In this paper we consider developable surfaces which are isometric to planar domains and which are piecewise differentiable, exhibiting folds along curves. The paper revolves around the longstanding problem of existence of the so-called folded annulus with multiple creases, which we partially settle by building upon a deeper understanding of how a curved fold propagates to additional prescribed foldlines. After recalling some crucial properties of developables, we describe the local behaviour of curved folding employing normal curvature and relative torsion as parameters and then compute the very general relation between such geometric descriptors at consecutive folds, obtaining novel formulae enjoying a nice degree of symmetry. We make use of these formulae to prove that any proper fold can be propagated to an arbitrary finite number of rescaled copies of the first foldline and to give reasons why problems involving infinitely many foldlines are harder to solve., Comment: 22 pages, 11 figures, 1 appendix

We also substantially weaken some of the hypotheses in these papers and we overcome the lack of compactness by using the weighting method.

We study numerical integration for a weighted Korobov space of analytic periodic functions for which the Fourier coefficients decay exponentially fast. In particular, we are interested in how the error depends on the dimension d . Many recent papers deal with this problem or similar problems and provide matching necessary and sufficient conditions for various notions of tractability. In most cases even simple algorithms are known which allow to achieve these notions of tractability. However, there is a gap in the literature: while for the notion of exponential-weak tractability one knows matching necessary and sufficient conditions, so far no explicit algorithm has been known which yields the desired result. In this paper we close this gap and prove that Korobov lattice rules are suitable algorithms in order to achieve exponential-weak tractability for integration in weighted Korobov spaces of analytic periodic functions.

The main purpose of this paper is the analytical study of self-shrinker solutions of the one-dimensional Landau-Lifshitz-Gilbert equation (LLG), a model describing the dynamics for the spin in ferromagnetic materials. We show that there is a unique smooth family of backward self-similar solutions to the LLG equation, up to symmetries, and we establish their asymptotics. Moreover, we obtain that in the presence of damping, the trajectories of the self-similar profiles converge to great circles on the sphere $\mathbb{S}^2$, at an exponential rate. In particular, the results presented in this paper provide examples of blow-up in finite time, where the singularity develops due to rapid oscillations forming limit circles., Comment: 4 figures

In the first part of this paper, we discuss the classical W-algebra $\mathcal{W}(\mathfrak{g}, F)$ associated with a Lie superalgebra $\mathfrak{g}$ and the nilpotent element $F$ in an $\mathfrak{sl}_2$-triple. We find a generating set of $\mathcal{W}(\mathfrak{g}, F)$ and compute the Poisson brackets between them. In the second part, which is the main part of the paper, we discuss supersymmetric classical W-algebras. We introduce two different constructions of a supersymmetric classical W-algebra $\mathcal{W}(\mathfrak{g}, f)$ associated with a Lie superalgebra $\mathfrak{g}$ and an odd nilpotent element $f$ in a subalgebra isomorphic to $\mathfrak{osp}(1|2)$. The first construction is via the SUSY classical BRST complex and the second is via the SUSY Drinfeld-Sokolov Hamiltonian reduction. We show that these two methods give rise to isomorphic SUSY Poisson vertex algebras. As a supersymmetric analogue of the first part, we compute explicit generators and Poisson brackets between the generators.

By using the work of Frantzikinakis and Wierdl, we can see that for all $d\in\mathbb{N}$, $\alpha\in(d,d+1)$, and integers $k\ge d+2$ and $r\ge1$, there exist infinitely many $n\in\mathbb{N}$ such that the sequence $(\lfloor{(n+rj)^\alpha}\rfloor)_{j=0}^{k-1}$ is represented as $\lfloor{(n+rj)^\alpha}\rfloor=p(j)$, $j=0,1,\ldots,k-1$, by using some polynomial $p(x)\in\mathbb{Q}[x]$ of degree at most $d$. In particular, the above sequence is an arithmetic progression when $d=1$. In this paper, we show the asymptotic density of such numbers $n$ as above. When $d=1$, the asymptotic density is equal to $1/(k-1)$. Although the common difference $r$ is arbitrarily fixed in the above result, we also examine the case when $r$ is not fixed. This paper is devoted to the study of perturbations of a matrix pencil, structured or unstructured, such that a perturbed pencil will reproduce a given deflating pair while maintaining the invariance of the complementary deflating pair. If the latter is unknown, it is referred to as no spillover updating. The specific structures considered in this paper include symmetric, Hermitian, $\star$-even, $\star$-odd and $\star$-skew-Hamiltonian/Hamiltonian pencils. This study is motivated by the well-known Finite Element Model Updating Problem in structural dynamics, where the given deflating pair represents a set of given eigenpairs and the complementary deflating pair represents the remaining larger set of eigenpairs. Analytical expressions of structure preserving no spillover updating are determined for deflating pairs of structured matrix pencils. Besides, parametric representations of all possible unstructured perturbations are obtained when the complementary deflating pair of a given unstructured pencil is known. In addition, parametric expressions are obtained for structured updating with certain desirable structures which relate to existing results on structure preservation of a symmetric positive definite or semi definite matrix pencil., Comment: 23 pages
